Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way human resources (HR) functions are carried out in the health sector of China. This study aims to scrutinize the impact of artificial intelligence on the human resource functions operating in the healthcare sector through technological awareness, social media influence, and personal innovativeness. Additionally, this study examines the moderating role of perceived risk between technological awareness and human resources functions. An online questionnaire was administered to human resources professionals in the health sector of China to gather data from 363 respondents. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), a statistical procedure, is implemented to investigate the hypothesis of the projected model of artificial intelligence and human resource functions. The research findings reveal that artificial intelligence significantly influences human resource functions through technological awareness, social media influence, and personal innovativeness. Furthermore, perceived risk significantly moderates the relationship between technological awareness and human resource functions. The findings of this study have important implications for HR practitioners and policymakers in the health sectors of China, who can leverage artificial intelligence technologies to optimize and improve organizational performance. However, its adoption needs to be carefully planned and managed to reap the full benefits of this transformative technology.

Organic phase change materials are extensively researched for passive cooling of electronic components due to the high heat of fusion, however, owing to the issue of thermal conductivity, it is difficult to improve the thermal performance of electronic components. However, the effective thermal performance of modern electronic devices is becoming popular due to thermal constraints of the circuit's non-uniform temperature distribution and high heating power generation. Thus, nanomaterials incorporated into phase change materials (PCMs) to improve thermal conductivity, which aids in heat removal and sustains significant heat sink operational performance for extended periods of time. In current research work, at heating powers of (10–30 W), the thermal performance outcome of three heat sink -configurations such as unfinned heat sink, circular pin-finned heat sink and metallic foam integrated heat sink were investigated with several alumina nanomaterials mass concentrations (0.15, 0.20 and 0.25 wt%) incorporated in phase change materials (for example RT-70HC). All three heat sinks revealed lower base temperature with the addition of alumina NePCM (αRT-70HC) phase change materials in their internal cavity compared to the empty unfinned heat sink. The findings showed good performance of metallic foam integrated heat sink in lowering the temperature & increasing safe functional time at two distinct temperatures. The largest decrease in temperature was found to be 35.76% and the largest growth in maximum functional time was 400% for metallic foam integrated heat sink. Therefore, using alumina nanomaterials in phase change material is recommended to optimize the thermal performance of the passive cooling techniques.

Electronic devices are being used extensively for different applications, where the thermal management of these devices is still a critical challenge due to rapid miniaturization, high heat flux and constantly rising temperature. Phase change materials (PCMs) based thermal management is adopted, but the low thermal conductivity limits their use in temperature-controlled electronic devices. Nano-enhanced phase change materials (NePCMs) can advance the heat transfer rate (HTr), decrease the temperature, and increase the operating time of the electronic device. The present study compares the thermal performances (TP) of three different heat sinks (simple, circular pin finned and copper foam) with NePCM (RT54HC/Al2O3) and varying Al2O3 nanoparticles concentrations (0.15–0.25 wt%) and heat fluxes (0.98–2.94 kW/m2) to optimize the overall device performance. The results show that at a heat flux (HF) of 0.98 kW/m2 and 0.25 wt% of Al2O3 nanoparticles (NPs), the base temperature of simple, circular pin finned and Cu foam heat sink was reduced by 21.3%, 25.03%, and 36.2%, respectively. The Cu foam heat sink (HS) has exceptional TP than the HSs without Cu foam. Accordingly, NePCMs are highly recommended in electronic devices for an optimized thermal management system.

Abstract Background Individuals with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) on dialysis are vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 infection, with mortality as high as 31 % in this group. Population demographics in the UAE are dissimilar to many other countries and data on antibody responses to COVID-19 is also limited. The objective of this study was to describe the characteristics of patients who developed COVID-19, the impact of the screening strategy, and to assess the antibody response to a subset of dialysis patients. Methods We retrospectively examined the outcomes of COVID19 infection in all our haemodialysis patients, who were tested regularly for COVID 19, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic. In addition, IgG antibody serology was also performed to assess response to COVID-19 in a subset of patients. Results 152 (13 %) of 1180 dialysis patients developed COVID-19 during the study period from 1st of March to the 1st of July 2020. Of these 81 % were male, average age of 52​ years and 95 % were on in-centre haemodialysis. Family and community contact was most likely source of infection in most patients. Fever (49 %) and cough (48 %) were the most common presenting symptoms, when present. Comorbidities in infected individuals included hypertension (93 %), diabetes (49 %), ischaemic heart disease (30 %). The majority (68 %) developed mild disease, whilst 13 % required critical care. Combinations of drugs including hydroxychloroquine, favipiravir, lopinavir, ritonavir, camostat, tocilizumab and steroids were used based on local guidelines. The median time to viral clearance defined by two negative PCR tests was 15 days [IQR 6–25]. Overall mortality in our cohort was 9.2 %, but ICU mortality was 65 %. COVID-19 IgG antibody serology was performed in a subset (n = 87) but 26 % of PCR positive patients (n = 23) did not develop a significant antibody response. Conclusions Our study reports a lower mortality in this patient group compared with many published series. Asymptomatic PCR positivity was present in 40 %. Rapid isolation of positive patients may have contributed to the relative lack of spread of COVID-19 within our dialysis units. The lack of antibody response in a few patients is concerning.

During the steam flooding of extra heavy oil, expansion of steam chamber is difficult and erosion channels appear, which is different from conventional heavy oil. The thermochemical composite system composed of steam, foam and viscosity reducer can effectively improve the development effect of extra heavy oil reservoirs. However, during the thermochemical composite flooding, the rheological characteristics of extra heavy oil and the influence of erosion channels on oil displacement mechanism are not yet researched. Taking the extra heavy oil reservoir in Block X of the Chunfeng Oilfield as an example, experimental research on the rheological properties and thermochemical composite flooding of extra heavy oil model with erosion channel is conducted. Firstly, the influence of thermochemical composite system on the rheological properties of extra heavy oil is evaluated. Then, a one-dimensional (1D) sand-pack model with erosion channel is used to conduct thermochemical composite flooding experiments, comparing the recovery of steam flooding, foam assisted steam flooding, viscosity reducer assisted steam flooding, and composite flooding (foam and viscosity reducer assisted steam flooding). Finally, a two-dimensional (2D) sand-pack model with erosion channel is used to conduct thermochemical composite flooding experiments, comparing the recovery of viscosity reducer assisted flooding and composite flooding. The results show that viscosity reducer reduces the viscosity of extra heavy oil greatly, and the extra heavy oil is not sensitive to the change of temperature after viscosity reduction. When the concentration of viscosity reducer is 0.4% or more, good viscosity reduction effect can be achieved at different oil-water ratio. In the 1D sand-pack model experiments, compared to steam flooding, foam assisted steam flooding, viscosity reducer assisted steam flooding, and composite flooding, the recovery increased by 4.38%, 17.38%, and 30.46%, respectively. In the 2D sand-pack model experiments, compared to steam flooding, the viscosity reducer assisted steam flooding and composite flooding increase the oil recovery by 12.49% and 16.61%, respectively. The thermochemical composite flooding of extra heavy oil is dominated by erosion, supplemented by displacement. There is a synergistic effect between chemicals in the process of composite flooding. In this work, tungsten oxide (WO3) thin films are grown on FTO glass using a facile spin coating method and an ink composed of WO3 nanoparticles synthesized under varying concentrations of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) surfactant. The influence of variation of the CTAB concentration on the quality and electrochemical performance of the prepared WO3 thin films is investigated. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic analysis confirm that the thin film prepared with a CTAB/Na2WO4·2H2O molar ratio of 2.451 exhibits significantly enhanced electrochemical performance, demonstrating fast reaction kinetics for Li+ ions (diffusion coefficient = 1.08 × 10−9 cm2 s−1) compared to the pristine WO3 thin film (diffusion coefficient = 1.42 × 10−10 cm2 s−1) lacking any CTAB addition. These improved electrochemical characteristics of modified WO3 thin films are attributed to the increased porosity and a higher electroactive surface area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the modern digital world, electronic devices are being widely employed for various applications where thermal performance represents a significant technical challenge due to continued miniaturization, high heat generated in the system, and non-uniform high-temperature causing failure. Phase change materials (PCMs) owing to the immense heat of fusion are primarily considered for thermal management, but their insulating properties hedge their applications in electronics cooling. Nano-enhanced phase change materials (NePCMs) have the ability to improve the thermal conductivity of PCM, decrease system temperature and escalate the operating time of devices. Accordingly, the current study focused on the experimental investigations for the thermal performance of three heat sinks (HS) with different configurations such as a simple heat sink (SHS), a square pin-fins heat sink (SpfHS), and Cu foam integrated heat sink (CufmHS) with various alumina nanoparticles mass concentrations (0.15, 0.20 and 0.25 wt%) incorporated in PCM (RT-54HC) and at heat flux (0.98–2.94 kW/m2). All HSs reduced the base temperature with the insertion of NePCM compared to the empty SHS. The experimental results identified that the thermal performance of CufmHS was found to be superior in reducing base temperature and enhancing working time at two different setpoint temperatures (SPTs). The maximum drop in base temperature was 36.95%, and a 288% maximum working time enhancement was observed for CufmHS. Therefore, NePCMs are highly recommended for the thermal management of the electronic cooling system.

A sustainable environment is one of the major challenges in developing countries especially in populated regions due to the industrialization and expansion of urban areas. The industries emit particulate matter into the atmosphere that is harmful to human health. There is a need for an efficient particle separation mechanism to improve indoor air quality. This paper presents a numerical investigation of particles deposition in a square duct with variable roughness elements. The working fluid was taken as a mixture of air and inert particles. The Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) and Discrete Particle-phase Model (DPM) were used to simulate the particle-laden flow to analyze the deposition and velocity of the particles in the duct. The diameter of the particles is taken as 5 µm. The ratio of roughness height to the diameter ( r / D ) ranged from 0.024 and 0.101 and the spacing to the diameter ratio ( s / D ) varied between 9.8 and 39.23. It was found that the roughness height has a significant effect on the fluid flow as compared to the spacing between the elements. As a result, more uniform vortices are developed across the elements increasing fluid velocity from 10 to 14 m/s, while the deposition and velocity of the particles were increased by 14% and 8%, respectively. Accordingly, the particles deposition technique helps provide clean indoor air for better environmental sustainability.

Flail chest complicates about 10% of patients with chest trauma and is associated with a mortality rate of 10-20% in older series, while a recent one reports no mortality. The majority of the cases are treated conservatively with internal pneumatic stabilization and pain control. In recent years, nevertheless, we assisted in the resurgence of chest wall fixation due to the availability of new devices. We report our experience in the use of mouldable titanium clips (STRACOS, Strasbourg Thoracic Osteosyntheses System; MedXpert, Heitersheim, Germany) to fix traumatic rib fracture. This device presents an advantage over previous strategies, as it is easy to apply and doesn’t require drilling and screwing of the ribs.
