Solid‐state infrared sources designed to emit wavelengths above 2 µm often face challenges in achieving high emission efficiency, minimizing power consumption, and reducing fabrication costs. In response, a 2.4 µm wavelength light emitting diode (LED) is developed using metamorphic In0.83Ga0.17As/InAs0.3P0.65Sb0.05 multiple quantum well (MQW) heterostructures. The substantial conduction (94 meV) and valence band offsets (300 meV) within this type‐I MQW LED architecture result in strong carrier confinement, improving electron and hole wavefunction overlap. Despite a notable lattice mismatch of 2.0% between the MQWs and InP substrate, the resulting LED wafer exhibits exceptionally low surface roughness (1.1 nm) and well‐defined, sharp interfaces within the heterostructures. Furthermore, this MQW LED exhibits favorable emission properties, including a low turn‐on field, minimal efficiency droop, and stable emission wavelength across varying injection currents. These advancements underscore the potential of such short‐wave infrared emitters for scalable applications in fields such as inspection, optical on‐chip communication, and biomedical diagnostics. Doping silicon wafers without using highly toxic or corrosive chemical substances has become a critical issue for semiconductor device manufacturing. In this work, ultra‐thin films of hydroxyapatite (Ca5(PO4)3OH) are prepared by tethering by aggregation and growth (T‐BAG), and further processed by spike annealing. Via in situ infrared (IR), the decomposition of hydroxyapatite and intermixing with the native silicon oxide is observed already at temperatures as low as 200 °C. Phosphate transport through the native silicon oxide is driven by a phase transformation into a more stable thermal oxide. At 700 °C, diffusion of phosphorus into the sub‐surface region of oxide‐free silicon is observed. In situ IR combined with electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF‐SIMS), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements allows to conclude that the phosphorus is: i) transported through the silicon oxide barrier, ii)) diffused inside the oxide‐free silicon, and iii) finally modified the electrical activity of the silicon wafer. To further explain the experimental findings, density‐functional theory (DFT) is used to demonstrate the extent of the effect of phosphorus doping on the electronic nature of silicon surfaces, showing that even small amounts of doping can have a measurable effect on the electrical performance of semiconductor wafers. We have demonstrated high-speed, super-resolution infrared (IR) spectroscopy and chemical imaging of autofluorescent biomaterials and organisms using camera-based widefield photothermal detection that takes advantage of temperature-dependent modulations of autofluorescent emission. A variety of biological materials and photosynthetic organisms exhibit strong autofluorescence emission under ultraviolet excitation and the autofluorescent emission has a very strong temperature dependence, of order 1%/K. Illuminating a sample with pulses of IR light from a wavelength-tunable laser source causes periodic localized sample temperature increases that result in a corresponding transient decrease in autofluorescent emission. A low-cost light-emitting diode-based fluorescence excitation source was used in combination with a conventional fluorescence microscopy camera to detect localized variations in autofluorescent emission over a wide area as an indicator of localized IR absorption. IR absorption image stacks were acquired over a range of IR wavelengths, including the fingerprint spectral range, enabling extraction of localized IR absorption spectra. We have applied widefield fluorescence detected photothermal IR (FL-PTIR) to an analysis of autofluorescent biological materials including collagen, leaf tissue, and photosynthetic organisms including diatoms and green microalgae cells. We have also demonstrated the FL-PTIR on live microalgae in water, demonstrating the potential for label-free dynamic chemical imaging of autofluorescent cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Antibacterial agents play a crucial role in healthcare and public health by combating bacterial infections. However, the emergence of antibiotic resistance necessitates a deeper understanding of 6 their mechanisms of action. This review explores the use of spectroscopic techniques, including UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR, Raman spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and fluorescence spectroscopy, to elucidate the mechanisms of action (MOA) of antibacterial agents in the period from 2003 to 2024. The review discusses how these techniques can elucidate the MOA of classical antibiotics, antiseptics and antimicrobial peptides. Since these spectroscopic techniques provide valuable insights into the molecular interactions between antibacterial agents and bacteria, offering a comprehensive understanding of their mechanisms at a molecular level. By studying electronic transitions, chemical bond vibrations, metabolomics, and protein interactions, researchers can gain in-depth knowledge of antibacterial MOAs. Researchers have created a modern infrared (IR) sensor that is both super-sensitive and highly flexible. This remarkable device possesses impressive properties of exceptional sensitivity (24,000%), high responsiveness (1.25 A/W), and fast response time (3 ms). This innovation stands out for its unique construction: an ultrathin layer of lead sulfide (PbS) deposited on a standard Whatman filter paper. This design achieves a photo-current 32 times greater than previous record-holding PbS thin films. The key advantage is its unmatched flexibility. This sensor can bend and flex without breaking, maintaining its IR detection capabilities even after enduring extreme bending cycles. This report demonstrates tunable carrier densities in CdO thin films through local ion irradiation, providing lateral control of mid‐IR optical properties. Ion‐solid interactions produce donor‐like defects that boost electron concentrations from the practical minimum of 2.5 × 1019 cm−3 to a maximum of 2.5 × 1020 cm−3 by metered ion exposure. This range is achieved using He, N, Ar, or Au ions at 1–2.8 MeV; when normalized by displacements per atom, all ion species produce comparable results. Since CdO is well‐described by the Drude model, irradiation‐tuned carrier densities directly alter the infrared dielectric function, and in turn, mid‐infrared optical properties. Further, it is demonstrated that by combining irradiation with traditional lithography, CdO films expose to ions in the presence of 3‐µm thick, patterned photoresist exhibit lateral carrier density profiles with ≈400‐nm resolution. Scanning near‐field optical microscopy reveals sharp optical interfaces with almost no companion contrast in surface morphology, microstructure, or crystallinity. Finally, CdO lateral homostructures supporting surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are demonstrated whose dispersion relation can be tuned through periodic patterning in a monolithic platform by simple nanofabrication. Numerical simulations show these polaritons result from strong coupling between excitations at CdO plasma frequencies and SPPs supported by the platinum substrate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Remote Sensing Infra-Red (IR) imaging sensors operate at very low temperatures (40–100 K). Generally, these types of imaging sensors are integrated with cryo-coolers. These sensors have an inbuilt 2N2222 diode-based cooler temperature sensor (CTS). This paper presents details of low-noise, high=precision processing electronics developed for CTS. Critical design aspects, simulation and hardware results of the system are discussed in this paper. Infrared spectroscopy currently requires the use of bulky, expensive, and/or fragile spectrometers. For gas sensing, environmental monitoring, or other applications, an inexpensive, compact, robust on‐chip spectrometer is needed. One way to achieve this is through gradient permittivity materials, in which the material permittivity changes as a function of position in the plane. Here, synthesis of infrared gradient permittivity materials is demonstrated using shadow mask molecular beam epitaxy. The permittivity of the material changes as a function of position in the lateral direction, confining varying wavelengths of infrared light at varying horizontal locations. An electric field enhancement corresponding to wavenumbers ranging from ≈650 to 900 cm−1 over an in‐plane width of ≈13 µm on the flat mesa of the sample is shown. An electric field enhancement corresponding to wavenumbers ranging from ≈900 to 1250 cm−1 over an in‐plane width of ≈13 µm on the slope of the sample is also shown. These two different regions of electric field enhancement develop on two opposite sides of the material. This demonstration of a scalable method of creating in‐plane gradient permittivity material can be leveraged for the creation of a variety of miniature infrared devices, such as an ultracompact spectrometer. Diabetes remains a significant chronic disease, with its prevalence projected to exceed 700 million by 2045. Monitoring glucose levels through conventional methods is crucial for mitigating the associated health risks. In this study, NiTiO3 films are loaded on TiO2 nanorods to create photoanodes, which are applied for glucose detection using near-infrared (NIR) light illumination. This approach achieved a detection limit of 0.01 mM with selectivity reaching up to 95%. Additionally, the long-term stability was confirmed for at least 16 weeks. The obsidian dating method converts the quantity of diffused molecular water within a near‐surface hydration layer to elapsed time using an experimentally derived diffusion coefficient predicted from the structural water content of the glass. Infrared spectroscopic transmission measurements on transparent archaeological samples record vibrational responses of water bands in the near‐infrared region, permitting determination of structural water content (OH), and the amount of diffused ambient water (H2O). In this application, the H2O water band at 5200 cm−1 is measured directly. The accuracy of the approach is assessed by an evaluation of the precision of each contributing variable. The goal of this study was to find a way to shorten wood drying time by using microwave and combined infrared + microwave drying methods and to analyze color and gloss changes. Wood samples prepared in three groups with dimensions of 20 x 20 x 30 mm were used in moisture tests and 75 x 5 x 150 mm were used in color change and gloss measurements, obtained from Red pine (Pinus brutia) and Eastern spruce (Picea orientalis) woods. The samples were oven dried, dried by microwave, or dried by infrared + microwave drying method. The wood samples all reached the target moisture. Their weight and volume were calculated in accordance with the principles of TS ISO 13061-1. Color change values were determined before and after drying with a portable color reader (Konica Minolta CR-10) device, and gloss measurements were taken with the Gardner brand gloss meter. By microwave drying for 15 min, 4% moisture content was reached in the wood samples, so both time and energy were saved. The moisture content values decreased compared to the whole drying methods. Wildfires cause severe consequences, including property loss, threats to human life, damage to natural resources, biodiversity, and economic impacts. Consequently, numerous wildland fire detection systems were developed over the years to identify fires at an early stage and prevent their damage to both the environment and human lives. Recently, deep learning methods were employed for recognizing wildfires, showing interesting results. However, numerous challenges are still present, including background complexity and small wildfire and smoke areas. To address these challenging limitations, two deep learning models, namely CT-Fire and DC-Fire, were adopted to recognize wildfires using both visible and infrared aerial images. Infrared images detect temperature gradients, showing areas of high heat and indicating active flames. RGB images provide the visual context to identify smoke and forest fires. Using both visible and infrared images provides a diversified data for learning deep learning models. The diverse characteristics of wildfires and smoke enable these models to learn a complete visual representation of wildland fires and smoke scenarios. Testing results showed that CT-Fire and DC-Fire achieved higher performance compared to baseline wildfire recognition methods using a large dataset, which includes RGB and infrared aerial images. CT-Fire and DC-Fire also showed the reliability of deep learning models in identifying and recognizing patterns and features related to wildland smoke and fires and surpassing challenges, including background complexity, which can include vegetation, weather conditions, and diverse terrain, detecting small wildfire areas, and wildland fires and smoke variety in terms of size, intensity, and shape. The crystal structure, thermal behavior, and vibrational spectra of the anthropogenic analogue of boussingaultite, (NH4)2Mg(SO4)2·6H2O, and its dehydrated counterpart efremovite, (NH4)2Mg2(SO4)3, were studied in detail. The sample from the Chelyabinsk burning coal dumps has the composition of (NH4)1.92(Mg1.02Mn0.01Fe0.01)∑1.04(SO4)2·6H2O and crystallizes in the space group P21/a, with a = 9.3183(4), b = 12.6070(4), c = 6.2054(3) Å, β = 107.115(5)°, V = 696.70(5) Å3 (at 20 °C), Z = 2. The thermal evolution steps are as follows: boussingaultite (NH4)2Mg(SO4)2·6H2O (25–90 °C) → X-ray amorphous phase (100–150 °C) → efremovite (NH4)2Mg2(SO4)3 (160–340 °C) → MgSO4 Cmcm + Pbnm (340–580 °C) → MgSO4 Pbnm (580–700 °C). Thermal expansion is anisotropic, with the coefficients (×106 °C−1) α11 = 52(2), α22 = 68(2), α33 = –89(3), and αv = 31(3) at T = –123 °C; and α11 = 53(2), α22 = 67(2), α33 = 15(1), and αv = 136(3) at T = 60 °C. The maximal thermal expansion is along the b-axis and is due to straightening of corrugated pseudolayers (within the ab plane) of Mg(H2O)6 octahedra and SO4 tetrahedra with NH4 groups in the interlayer space. Vibrational spectroscopy outlines the general trend of dehydration and deammonization as the difference in the temperature intervals of these transformation steps allows separation of O–H and N–H vibrations in the process of dehydration by infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The intermediate partially dehydrated modification of boussingaultite was detected by in situ Raman spectroscopy at 110 °C that may correspond to ammonium leonite. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Using an infrared (IR) thermal camera, we evaluated the efficacy of six arboricultural materials for preventing sunscald and frost crack. The trunks of adult Yoshino cherry (Prunus × yedoensis) and Japanese zelkova (Zelkova serrata) were treated with (i–iii) three paint types (white water paint [P–W], white latex paint [P–L], and quicklime [P–Q]), (iv and v) two band wrap types [brown tree wrap (B–B) and white tree wrap (B–W)], and (vi) a wound paste: thiophanate‐methyl paste (TP) in the shape of a band 10 cm thick. Outdoor IR thermographs were captured four times a day at 3 h intervals (09:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 03:00 p.m. and 06:00 p.m.) over four consecutive days in late October 2019. Bark temperatures recorded for P–W, P–L, P–Q and B–W treatments were consistently lower than those for untreated trunks. The mean temperature difference between B–W and untreated bark (up to 4.57°C) remained pronounced between 09:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m. for both tree species each day. Conversely, no significant differences in bark temperatures were observed under B–B and TP treatments compared with untreated bark (p = 0.01). Elevated bark temperature was observed on the south side compared with the other three cardinal directions; however, temperatures were similar in all directions at 06:00 p.m. These findings suggest that white tree wrapping may provide a viable approach to prevent sun‐induced trunk injuries, leveraging the light reflectivity of the white colour and thermal insulation properties of the wrapping material. We have conducted a computational study on a multi-layered grating structure composed of MXene-Si-Metal for visible and infrared frequencies. The suggested framework is examined across the wavelength range of 0.2–2.5 µm. We have analysed absorption and reflectance values for the various layers of the MXene and Si gratings (5, 10, and 15). This multilayered grating structure is numerically investigated using Finite element methods. The effect of the different metal resonators (Au and Ag) was also reported to identify the impact of metals on the resonating band. The multiple grating layers and resonator can allow tuning the effective resonance peak over this broad wavelength spectrum for various photonics applications—analysed absorption and reflectance values of several metal resonators to locate resonating peaks throughout a wide wavelength band. The proposed structure provides consistent absorption values for high incidence angles ranging from 0° to 80°. We integrate in the framework of the semilocal trace formula two recent discoveries on the spectral realization of the zeros of the Riemann zeta function by introducing a semilocal analogue of the prolate wave operator. The latter plays a key role both in the spectral realization of the low lying zeros of zeta—using the positive part of its spectrum—and of their ultraviolet behavior—using the Sonin space which corresponds to the negative part of the spectrum. In the archimedean case the prolate operator is the sum of the square of the scaling operator with the grading of orthogonal polynomials, and we show that this formulation extends to the semilocal case. We prove the stability of the semilocal Sonin space under the increase of the finite set of places which govern the semilocal framework and describe their relation with Hilbert spaces of entire functions. Finally, we relate the prolate operator to the metaplectic representation of the double cover of SL (2 , R) with the goal of obtaining (in a forthcoming paper) a second candidate for the semilocal prolate operator. Infrared small target detection is a key technology with a wide range of applications, and the complex background and low signal-to-noise ratio characteristics of infrared images can greatly increase the difficulty and error rate of small target detection. In this paper, an uncertainty measurement method based on local component consistency is proposed to suppress the complex background and highlight the detection target. The method analyzes the local signal consistency of the image. It then constructs a confidence assignment function and uses the mutation entropy operator to measure local uncertainty. Then, the target energy information is introduced through an energy-weighting function to further enhance the signal. Finally, the target is extracted using an adaptive threshold segmentation algorithm. The experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively detect small infrared targets in complex backgrounds. And, the algorithm is at the leading edge in terms of performance; the processing frame rate can reach 3051 FPS (frame per second), 96 FPS, and 54 FPS for image data with a resolution of 256 × 256, 1920 × 1080, and 2560 × 1440, respectively. The well-known Rule07 is a simple thus efficient way to compare available technologies for IR imaging detectors in terms of dark current. The noise is then often estimated using a shot noise approximation on the dark current. Both II–VI and III–V communities use this rule of thumb as a reference for well-performing IR photodiodes. For HOT applications, a dark current close to this rule07 is considered a necessary condition but not a sufficient one to obtain a high-performance IR imager. Indeed, when limited by shot noise, rule07 describes well the noise behavior of the considered device. However, when considering low-frequency noise, it fails to describe the expected performances. In this paper, we focus on another figure-of-merit, dedicated to detector low-frequency noise rather than dark current. Systemic 1/f noise investigation in an IR detector was first reported by Tobin et al. in 1980. There is today a relative consensus on the fact that measured 1/f noise is proportional to the dark current. The ratio between the amplitude of the 1/f noise and the dark current of the same devices may therefore be used as a figure-of-merit for a given technology. This ratio (called the Tobin factor α T ) therefore appears adequate to compare different technologies as a figure-of-merit qualifying 1/f noise properties. This dimensionless ratio can also be very useful for optimizing a particular technology or process. However, in order to be relevant, this figure-of-merit must be estimated carefully as it appears, for instance, pixel pitch-dependent. Different examples of Tobin coefficient extraction are presented in this paper. We show that, depending on the technologies, the values of the Tobin coefficient can spread over several orders of magnitude. However, only low values result in high-quality IR imagers. Contact resistance can play a significant role in the noise performance of short wavelength infrared (SWIR) focal plane detector arrays (FPAs), particularly during cryogenic operation at low signal backgrounds. For astronomy FPAs, a source follower input cell ROIC is typically used in combination with correlated double sampling (CDS) or a form of up-the-ramp (SUTR) multi-sampling. In this paper, a pixel equivalent circuit model is presented and analyzed by standard techniques. The noise power density spectrum is analyzed for CDS and multi-sampled acquisitions, and it is found that there are three distinct ranges of contact resistance that govern excess noise behavior: the low-noise ROIC-limited range, the intermediate kTC-limited range, and the RC-bandwidth limited case. The model analyses are used to explain FPA data from Teledyne H2RG and H4RG SWIR FPAs. We have found that sampling sequence in combination with contact resistance can influence the total integrated noise, and can explain a FPA failure mode where anomalously low CDS and anomalously high SUTR noise exist in the same region. The development of optoelectronic devices based on III–V semiconductor colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) is highly sought after due to their reduced toxicity. While devices based on conventional CQDs (II–VI semiconductors, halide perovskites) have achieved impressive technological leaps since their discovery, the most mature of these compounds contain toxic heavy metal elements (Cd, Hg, or Pb), which are highly undesirable for safe industrial scale applications. The strong covalent bonds of III–V compounds like InP, InAs, or InSb prevent the release of their toxic atoms, making them safer. However, these same bonds create severe material constraints. Namely, their harsher reaction conditions and increased sensitivity to oxidation have kept most of the research focused on material development. Meanwhile, their integration into devices and their coupling to photonic structures lag behind. Here, the integration of InAs/ZnSe core‐shell CQDs is advanced. First, the material parameters necessary to design plasmonic gratings coupled to the CQDs are elucidated and those gratings are fabricated. Angle‐resolved spectroscopy shows that the plasmon modes successfully couple to the CQD layer's emission leading to a tunable directivity with a 15° linewidth. A 3‐fold increase of the PL signal is achieved at normal incidence, thus advancing toward the goal of efficient outcoupling in LEDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Among materials produced as colloidal quantum dots (CQDs), HgTe has a special status being the only material covering the whole infrared range from the visible to the THz (0.7–100 µm). This unique property resulting from its electronic structure, combined with an air stability and a capacity for charge conduction has generated consistent and massive efforts to produce and improve HgTe CQDs over the past two decades. Meanwhile, HgTe CQDs offer an infrared platform more advanced than any other colloidal alternatives in the mid‐wave infrared regarding their integration into advanced photonic and optoelectronic applications. Here, the latest developments of HgTe CQDs relative to the material's growth, electron structure modelling, its integration into photonic structures and its transfer as the active material from single element devices toward complex sensors and infrared imagers are reviewed. Finally, a discussion about the potential of this material for industry, rising new challenges beyond economical and production considerations at low technological readiness level, relative to the material and device design, is also included. As they have gained maturity, colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) have also expand the spectral range over of which they could be used for photonic and optoelectronic applications. In particular, the infrared use of NCs has become of utmost interest to develop cost‐effective alternatives to current technologies. It is then critical not to let the material dictate the light–matter interaction, which is why the coupling of NCs to photonic cavities has been proposed. For infrared NCs, this approach has first been devoted to the control of absorption with in mind the increase of the signal magnitude for detectors. A Lot of efforts have been focused on the use of metallic metasurfaces. However, these generate significant optical losses and yield low quality factor. Here, this study rather focus on the coupling of infrared NCs to a dielectric mirror cavity. HgTe/CdS core‐shell NCs are used and integrated into a cavity made of aperiodic dielectric mirrors. The effect of the substrate is systematically study on spectral linewidth, carrier dynamic, and emission directivity. The cavity is shown to narrow the PL by a factor 10, while focusing the emission over a 12° angle. Monitoring the power dependence of the emission, this study shows that the cavity leads to 250 K increase in the effective electronic temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This clinical study assessed photobiomodulation (PBM) induced analgesic effects of diode lasers and an LED light source on the dental pulp. Baseline responses to electric pulp testing (EPT) were recorded in 93 healthy unrestored premolar teeth in 26 adults (age range 22–63 years) attending a private dental practice. The teeth were irradiated on buccal and lingual aspects of the crown, by placing the tips on the middle third of the crown of the teeth, on separate days for each of 4 different light sources (660, 808, or 904 nm diode lasers, or a novel multi-wavelength LED light source (700–1100 nm)) using comparable parameters (100 mW, 30 s, 6 J). EPT scores were measured after a further 1-, 2-, 5- and 20-min. Discomfort caused by PBM therapy was recorded using the Wong-Baker scale. EPT changes were tracked over time using repeated measures analysis of variance. Baseline EPT scores were very consistent between different days (linear regression r2 0.9422–0.9648). All PBM devices caused a significant elevation in EPT at 5 min, with an earlier onset at 2 mins for 904 nm and LED. The LED was the only light source that elevated scores at 20 min. Across 2–20 min, when ranked by effectiveness, the greatest EPT elevations were seen for LED, followed by 904 nm, then 660 nm and finally 808 nm. Discomfort during PBM was most common with 904 nm, followed by 808 nm. No discomfort occurred from the LED. Among the light sources utilized, the LED multi-wavelength system demonstrated the largest increase in EPT readings, suggesting its potential as a non-pharmacological alternative for achieving dental analgesia compared to diode lasers. Wearable technologies represent a significant advancement in facilitating communication between humans and machines. Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), human gestures detected by wearable sensors can provide people with seamless interaction with physical, digital, and mixed environments. In this paper, the foundations of a gesture-recognition framework for the teleoperation of infrared consumer electronics are established. This framework is based on force myography data of the upper forearm, acquired from a prototype novel soft pressure-based force myography (pFMG) armband. Here, the sub-processes of the framework are detailed, including the acquisition of infrared and force myography data; pre-processing; feature construction/selection; classifier selection; post-processing; and interfacing/actuation. The gesture recognition system is evaluated using 12 subjects' force myography data obtained whilst performing five classes of gestures. Our results demonstrate an inter-session and inter-trial gesture average recognition accuracy of approximately 92.2% and 88.9%, respectively. The gesture recognition framework was successfully able to teleoperate several infrared consumer electronics as a wearable, safe and affordable human–machine interface system. The contribution of this study centres around proposing and demonstrating a user-centred design methodology to allow direct human–machine interaction and interface for applications where humans and devices are in the same loop or coexist, as typified between users and infrared-communicating devices in this study. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have become invaluable tools for tackling design challenges associated with achieving unique scattering effects in artificial electromagnetic materials (AEMs). However, their effectiveness is reliant on substantial, well‐constructed training datasets. Building such datasets using traditional methods becomes impractical for increasingly complex and large‐scale geometric models. Achieving a specific diffuse scattering is one example and this often requires electrically large and diverse AEM arrays. Unfortunately, while numerical simulations offer high accuracy by utilizing fine meshing, their computational limitations render them incapable of handling such large structures and computing their scattering parameters efficiently. This work proposes a new approach to overcome these limitations by replacing conventional numerical simulations with a hybrid method that combines electromagnetic simulations with an analytical model, enabling the rapid and accurate generation of datasets for electrically large metamaterial arrays. Utilizing this approach, an optimized metasurface geometry for the mid‐infrared range is successfully identified and tested that exhibits desirable diffuse scattering effects. This innovative method paves the way for significantly faster design and optimization of metamaterials, while also unlocking the potential for a new generation of large‐scale, high‐quality ML datasets for AEM problems. The railway is an essential source of logistics and transportation in cold regions, but low temperatures and icing can be challenging for uninterrupted railway operations in these regions. Icing on railway switches is a safety hazard, and presently, one of the industry's adaptive approaches for ice mitigation is the use of resistive heaters. This method is efficient but consumes a great amount of electricity, leading to high financial costs in terms of the operation and maintenance of railway tracks in ice-prone regions. In this paper, a study is carried out using experiments and computational simulations to analyze the heat distribution in a cross-section of a rail at below-freezing temperatures. Experiments are performed in a cold room using an actual rail switch, thermocouples, and infrared imaging, while numerical analyses are carried out using a MATLAB-based analytical model to simulate the heat transfer, considering a section of stock rail and a heating element. Results show a considerable loss of heat from the heater to the surroundings of the rail, especially towards the ground ballast. Numerical simulation results provide a good insight into heat transfer along railway sections, and results are validated with experiments, where a good agreement is found. The process of sprouting makes legumes better by changing their nutrition, chemicals, and taste. Ground sprouted chickpeas are commonly used as the main ingredient in falafel. The aim of this research was to study the impact of drying techniques that include hot‐air, infrared, and microwave on the moisture, ash, total phenolics, antioxidant capacity, color, and rehydration ratio of dried ground sprouted chickpeas. Also, the effects of drying techniques of ground sprouted chickpeas on the moisture, ash, total phenolics, antioxidant activity, color, volume, density, oil content, textural properties, and sensory attributes of fried falafel were examined. The total phenolics of hot‐air‐dried, infrared‐dried, and microwave‐dried samples were 463.42, 766.20, and 470.82 μg Gallic acid (GA)/g dry, respectively. The infrared‐dried ground sprouts had the highest antioxidant capacity. Additionally, the total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity of fried falafels made from infrared‐dried ground sprouted chickpeas were significantly higher than those of the fried falafels made from hot‐air‐dried and microwave‐dried sprouts (p <.05). The mean values of lightness, redness, and yellowness of the fried falafel core ranged from 57.37 to 59.29, 3.66 to 6.88, and 40.50 to 43.31, respectively. The lowest oil absorption was related to the sample prepared from the hot‐air‐dried sprouted chickpeas (p <.05). The firmness, cohesiveness, springiness, and chewiness of the fried falafels were between 38.17 N and 91.56 N, 0.29 and 0.44, 0.48 and 0.58, and 5.38 N and 17.24 N, respectively. The use of infrared‐dried sprouted chickpeas for producing fried falafel, due to the highest odor, flavor, and overall acceptance scores, high phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity, high volume, low density, and low hardness, is recommended. In recent years, thermal imaging and sensing technologies have seen dramatic increases in usage for a range of applications. However, the material cost and manufacturing complexity of infrared optics remain a major barrier toward their democratization. Here, a solution‐processed plasmonic reflective filter (PRF) is presented as a scalable, disordered, and low‐cost thermal infrared (TIR) optic. The PRF selectively absorbs sunlight and specularly reflects TIR wavelengths, with a performance comparable to state‐of‐the‐art infrared optics made of materials like Germanium. Unlike the latter, however, the PRF is fabricated using low‐cost materials and a "dip‐and‐dry" chemical synthesis technique, which enables orders of magnitude lower manufacturing costs. The PRF's optical functionality and integration into infrared imaging systems are experimentally demonstrated. The chemical synthesis technique also affords exceptional spectral tuneability and material compatibility compared to traditional fabrication methods. The PRF's tuneable and broadband TIR yield can be augmented by inexpensive dielectric or polymeric filters to yield novel capabilities such as wide‐area ambient temperature surveys. Practically, the PRF represents a significant advance toward democratizing the benefits of thermal imaging and sensing. Scientifically, it represents a previously unexplored optical functionality of disordered materials, and a new direction for versatile chemical synthesis in designing optical components. Efficient characterization of optoelectronic material properties represents a crucial step in the development of next‐generation infrared (IR) materials and devices. For the first time, a sensitive, contact‐free optoelectronic material characterization platform is demonstrated that exploits the unique properties of radio frequency (RF) topological edge states implemented in a topological microstrip waveguide. The topological device is compatible with standard printed circuit board (PCB) processes with no additional materials, stubs, or resonators. The waveguide and topological properties computationally are designed and then experimentally the results are validated with S‐parameter and near‐field measurements. Finally, as a proof of principle, the room temperature spectral response of a micron‐scale thick mid‐wave infrared (MWIR) mercury cadmium telluride (Hg0.70Cd0.30Te) is measured using the topological microstrip and a five‐fold and 20‐fold increase is demonstrated in response when compared to a plain microstrip and trivial bandgap device, respectively. This article presents a numerical analysis of a very thin concentric octagonal elliptical ring resonator (CORR) with a cylindrical rod optical nano-metamaterial absorber (ONMMA) that is designed to absorb solar energy in the infrared, visible, and ultraviolet ranges. The ONMMA is made of gold and nickel resonators on a quartz substrate with a gold plate ground material. The absorption rate of the ONMMA is over 90% from 593.84–829.28 THz, with an average absorption rate of 93.891%. This means that the ONMMA can absorb more than 80% of the energy in the infrared, visible, and a small portion of the ultraviolet range. It also has an absorption rate of over 75% from 226.64–853.04 THz, with an average absorption rate of 88.945%. This covers the entire visible spectrum, with a small portion in the infrared and ultraviolet regions. The design has an operational bandwidth of 200–920 THz, with an average absorption rate of 86.424%. The ONMMA achieves a maximum absorption rate of 99.866% at 705.44 THz. The design of the octagonal ONMMA ensures that it is not affected by the polarization of the incident light and can absorb energy even at oblique angles up to 60 degrees. The study also analyzed the effects of different materials and geometrical parameters on the absorption characteristics, as well as the distribution of surface current, magnetic field, electric field, and power loss. On Earth, carbonate minerals are widely used as recorders of the geological environments in which they formed. Here, we present a method designed to retrieve the crystal chemistry of Fe‐Mg carbonate minerals using infrared remote sensing or Raman spectroscopy. We analyzed a suite of well‐characterized Fe‐Mg carbonate minerals for which Raman spectra were obtained in two different laboratories, and IR spectra were measured in reflectance and transmission from the visible range to 25‐μm. We built calibration lines for the dependence of fundamental and harmonic vibrational modes position to the Mg# (defined as Mg# = 100 × Mg/(Mg + Fe + Ca + Mn)). These calibrations should enable retrieval of Mg# based on spectroscopic observations with a typical accuracy of 10. We discuss the framework of applicability of these calibrations and apply them to a typical CRISM spectrum of carbonates from the Nilli Fossae region of Mars. Thermal camouflage is a highly coveted technology aimed at enhancing the survivability of military equipment against infrared (IR) detectors. Recently, two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials have shown low IR emissivity, widely tunable opto-electronic properties, and compatibility with stealth applications. Among these, graphene and graphene-like materials are the most appealing 2D materials for thermal camouflage applications. In multilayer graphene (MLG), charge density can be effectively tuned through sufficiently intense electric fields or through electrolytic gating. Therefore, MLG's optical properties, like infrared emissivity and absorbance, can be controlled in a wide range by voltage bias. The large emissivity modulation achievable with this material makes it suitable in the design of thermal dynamic camouflage devices. Generally, the emissivity modulation in the multilayered graphene medium is governed by an intercalation process of non-volatile ionic liquids under a voltage bias. The electrically driven reduction of emissivity lowers the apparent temperature of a surface, aligning it with the background temperature to achieve thermal camouflage. This characteristic is shared by other graphene-based materials. In this review, we focus on recent advancements in the thermal camouflage properties of graphene in composite films and aerogel structures. In the dairy industry, traditional heat treatments are known for their high water and energy consumption, and more economically and environmentally friendly solutions are being sought. Infrared (IR) technology offers advantages in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability; however, its effectiveness in milk processing, particularly in pathogen inactivation, remains relatively unexplored. In this study, homogenized raw milk was subjected to IR treatment, and its impact on Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., and Enterobacteriaceae was assessed. Results indicate that IR treatment effectively reduces the microbial load, achieving levels of inactivation comparable to conventional pasteurization methods (around 6 Log10 CFU/mL). Moreover, the treatment maintains milk pH levels, suggesting minimal alteration to its composition. Further research is needed to explore the full extent of IR treatment on milk sanitation efficacy, deeply exploring IR technology to fully assess its applicability and integration into dairy processing practices. Due to experimental challenges and computational complexities, limited research has explored high-temperature and high-pressure conditions on mineral vibrations. This study employs the quasi-harmonic approximation (QHA) and density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the impact of temperature and pressure on the structural properties and infrared and Raman vibrational modes of forsterite. The computational process involves determining lattice parameters, optimizing the internal crystal structure, and calculating IR and Raman spectra at various temperature and pressure values, both separately and combined. Results highlight significant anisotropy in forsterite, with the b-axis being most sensitive to temperature and pressure, followed by the c-axis, while the a-axis exhibits greater stiffness. The positions of vibrational modes typically shift to higher frequencies with increasing pressure (average shift of 2.70 ± 1.30 cm−1/GPa) or to lower frequencies with increasing temperature (average shift of − 0.017 ± 0.018 cm−1/K). Modes associated with SiO4 stretching and bending are less affected by temperature or pressure than translational and rotational modes. A brief investigation into isotope and chemical substitution, as well as cation distribution, in the solid solution (Mg, Fe)2SiO4 reveals lower wavenumbers in fayalite modes compared to forsterite modes, attributed to the heavier Fe mass and larger cell parameters. This study establishes a methodology for computing vibrational frequencies under simultaneous temperature and pressure and emphasizes the significant impact of various factors on vibrational modes. Background and Objectives: Starch modification using heat‐moisture treatment (HMT) has been proven to influence starch functionality and nutritional properties as it can increase resistant starch content and reduce the glycemic index (GI). This study aims to determine the nutritional and functional properties of infrared (IR)‐ and microwave (MW) heat‐moisture‐treated (HMT) white and red non‐tannin, and red tannin sorghum meals with the aim of further reducing the estimated GI. Findings: All treated meals had significantly (p <.05) lower pasting peak viscosity than the untreated samples, possibly due to aggregate formation observed under the light microscope, restricting the starch from swelling to form a high‐viscosity paste. There was a decrease in the percentage of starch hydrolysis between the sorghum types and a further decrease after HMT treatment. A significant difference was observed in the protein digestibility between the sorghum types, but not between the treatments. Conclusion: HMT with IR and MW further reduced the starch digestibility, possibly because of changes in the starch molecular configuration. Significance and Novelty: This study suggests that the changes in the starch functionality and nutritional properties of the HMT‐treated sorghum meals can potentially be useful in the development of lower‐GI sorghum foods. Monolayer black phosphorus (BP) holds great promise for naturally hyperbolic polaritons and correlated states in rectangular moiré superlattices. However, preparing and identifying high-quality monolayer BP are challenging due to its instability and high transparency, which limits extensive studies. In this study, we developed a method for rapidly and nondestructively identifying monolayer BP and its crystal orientation simultaneously using modified photoluminescence (PL) microscopy. The optical contrast of monolayer BP has been significantly increased by at least twenty times compared to previous reports, making it visible even on a transparent substrate. The polarization dependence of optical contrast also allows for the in situ determination of crystal orientation. The goal of this study was to find a way to shorten wood drying time by using microwave and combined infrared + microwave drying methods and to analyze color and gloss changes. Wood samples prepared in three groups with dimensions of 20×20×30 mm were used in moisture tests and 75×5×150 mm were used in color change and gloss measurements, obtained from Red pine (Pinus brutia) and Eastern spruce (Picea orientalis) woods. The samples were oven dried, dried by microwave, or dried by infrared + microwave drying method. The wood samples all reached the target moisture. Their weight and volume were calculated in accordance with the principles of TS ISO 13061-1. Color change values were determined before and after drying with a portable color reader (Konica Minolta CR-10) device, and gloss measurements were taken with the Gardner brand gloss meter. By microwave drying for 15 min, 4% moisture content was reached in the wood samples, so both time and energy were saved. The moisture content values decreased compared to the whole drying methods. Most color change was observed in the drying methods using infrared for both red pine and eastern spruce.

Abstract Dynamic bone-crushing, exemplified by the pig bone rib, is characterized thermo-mechanically in relation to the bone’s microstructural characteristics. The cortical bone’s dominant role consists of shielding the trabecular component by resisting deformation, sustaining high load levels, and ultimately cracking. Here we present a qualitative factual study to show that this behavior is the absolute opposite of its quasi-static counterpart in which the trabecular bone was found to play the dominant role. Using infrared thermography, we observed for the first time a significant localized temperature rise of up to 11 degrees Celsius in both cortical and trabecular damaging regions. Such observations call for additional clinically oriented research. Such a high contrast between static and dynamic failure mechanisms was not reported previously, and it paves the way for forensic-oriented studies in which the nature of the sustained load must be determined.

Two major perenial disasters are prevalent in Indonesia, namely, peatland fires and volcanic activities associated with Andesite rock. Thus, the Indonesian Government has prioritized the prevention and mitigation of both disasters. Indonesia’s Research Center for Satellite Technology-National Research and Innovation Agency then implemented the program as a satellite payload project. In this study, we describe the design of a space-based mid-wavelength infrared (SMWIR) camera module to monitor peatland fires and volcanic activities associated with Andesite rock. Using the spectral range as the basis of design and the iteration process of general steps in designing a camera, a SMWIR camera module was successfully designed. First, the spectral range was obtained by an intersection of four methods of determining spectral bands. Subsequently, the optical section, was conducted using Zemax by applying three criteria to analyze the optical performance, such as the spot diagram, encircled energy, and modulation transfer function (MTF). Thereafter, the mechanical design was achieved through the SOLIDWORKS software. The fourth step, namely, the structure or thermal design, was achieved by both Thermal Desktop/SINDA FLUINT and Zemax. In the electronic section, both the camera and detector were developed. Finally, a calibration system was specified over the module. Results in the form of graphs, pictures, and tables indicate that all established conditions, including those of the technical side, were achieved. Therefore, high performance in terms of the image, durability, transmission, and thermal stability can easily be achieved; additionally, the module is feasible, lightweight, and compact.

The tomato pomace (TP), which is a by-product of the production of tomato paste, was dried in a novel custom-designed daylight simulated photovoltaic assisted dryer (DPVD). The different light applications (daylight, UV light, daylight + UV light, and without light), different air velocities (1.5 and 2 m/s), and different heating source modes (hot air and infrared) were applied to dry TP having a moisture content of 80.60 ± 0.73% to the moisture content of 7.66 ± 1.72%. The average water activity values of all dried samples were measured as 0.52 ± 0.08. Analysis was conducted to compare sun drying with the effects of process conditions on the quality (color properties, lycopene, β-carotene, and total mesophilic aerobic bacteria count) and performance (energy efficiency, exergy efficiency, specific moisture evaporation rate, and improvement potential) characteristics of TP. The effects of process conditions for each heating source mode were determined separately, and the improvement of the system performance for each mode was investigated. The effect of the process conditions on total aerobic mesophilic bacteria (TAMB) count was similar in general. In the infrared heating mode, the loss in lycopene and β-carotene contents was 59.55 ± 2.22 and 57.87 ± 2.51 minimum for 1.5 m/s air velocity without light application and for 2 m/s with ultraviolet + daylight application. In general, the performance of the system decreased in case of using ultraviolet light. The retention in the lycopene and β-carotene contents was higher in the infrared mode with light applications compared to hot air mode without light. The optimum drying conditions were air velocity of 2 m/s with "daylight" assistance in the hot air heating mode and with "ultraviolet + daylight" assistance in the infrared heating mode. All the energy and the daylight source used in drying applications were obtained from the sun, a renewable energy source, thanks to the photovoltaic panel and the solar tube units in the novel custom-designed drying system. In this study, ginger was dried using the microwave infrared cooperative vibrating drying (MICVD) technique. Drying kinetics, moisture evolution, cell morphology and sample structure change, mechanical properties, and physicochemical properties of the sample during drying were investigated. The ginger dried at the microwave power of 0.4 W/g and infrared temperature of 50 °C (M0.4I50) exhibited the highest water diffusion rate. Significant moisture evolution in the sample was observed during the drying. The free water in the sample was removed rapidly, the immobilized water increased in the early drying stage and then decreased, and the bound water increased slowly throughout the drying. Removing moisture caused cell collapse in the ginger and the formation of moisture microchannels and pores. These structural changes resulted in increased fractal dimension, porosity, and volume shrinkage in the final dried product. Moisture evolution also significantly affected the rheological behavior of the ginger and its color profile. The correlation analysis result suggested that the key quality attributes of ginger, such as fractal dimension, porosity, color, volume shrinkage ratio, and rheological characteristic, were significantly correlated with moisture content and evolution. Moreover, backpropagation in the artificial neural network (BP-ANN) model was proved effective in predicting these key quality attributes based on its moisture content parameters. This study aimed to interpret the moisture evolution of ginger during MICVD drying and provide insight to future researchers on the development and application of this novel drying technique. The autobiographical 2024 Brief Report published in Structural Chemistry by the heterocyclic chemist Professor José Elguero prompted the author to describe his recollections of a similar yet twisted little tale of an incident occurred in 1964 during his Organic Chemistry Ph.D. period at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The trait d'union between the two tales is the significance of unusual infrared frequencies in the characterization of newly synthesized organic compounds. The absence of an infrared band at the 1800–1900 cm−1 region was a sufficient condition for ruling out a cyclopropanone structure (Elguero's little tale). The presence of such an infrared band was a necessary condition for the presence of a triafulvene and triapentafulvalene systems (author's twisted little tale). The related experience in the publication of Communications to the Editor articles in the Journal of the American Chemical Society is also described. This study explores the rational strategy to build lead sulfide (PbS)-based colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) solid for high performance photodetection and solar energy conversion in the near- and short-wave infrared spectra. We demonstrated a facile engineering process from CQD synthesis to infrared CQD devices fabrication. By controlling the monomer concentration, we effectively tuned the infrared absorption characteristics and the solution-phase surface ligand exchange resulted in highly concentrated CQD ink, facilitating the formation of uniform, and thick CQD solids, which is crucial for high absorption efficiency. The CQD-based infrared photodetector achieved a specific detectivity of approximately 1011 Jones and fast response times under 100 ns. Furthermore, optimized PbS CQDs were utilized in solar cells and achieved high quantum efficiency across visible to infrared spectrum, indicating a significant potential for 2-terminal tandem structures with perovskite front cells. For monitoring hard-to-reach thermal facilities, remote surveillance techniques from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with a thermal infrared camera represent a progressive platform for rapid information collection. This paper presents the first results of such an application of UAVs to study five thermal objects on the Kuril Islands. Four of them (Kipyashchaya Riwer on Iturup Island, Lake Biryuzovoye on Simushir Island, Yankich Island and Yurieva River on Paramushir Island) are associated with active volcanoes. Heat maps with precise geographical reference have been obtained for all sections of gas hydrothermal discharge. For Kipyashchaya River and Yankich Island verification of air thermometry by ground data was performed and real atmospheric attenuation coefficients were obtained for different flight altitudes under observed meteorological conditions. The first data on the parameters of the thermal plume from the hot Yurievа River flowing into the Sea of Okhotsk were obtained.

Pulse Detonation Engine has been a point of interest in the propulsion industry for some time and the interest has been rising due to its better output and results. But any system can perform its task efficiently based on the efficiency of its control system. In this paper we have presented a comparative study between multiple control systems- one based on Bluetooth technology, the other based on infrared sensor technology and one based on wired electrical system. For the wireless system, the signal received from either of the media is passed to the various sensors and systems connected through an Arduino board that further controls the solenoid valves and ignition system. Primarily, a control system circuit is developed using Arduino board and different sensors to connect the fuel supply and ignition system. In the next stage, Bluetooth sensors are connected using an android app and then an infrared sensor based system is integrated with the Arduino to control the engine and the performance of the two systems are compared. Whereas for wired system, every sub system is controlled through optical wires including the solenoid valves, the injection system and the sensors.

ABSTRACT: Roasting is the most common processing method that enhances color, and texture. In this study, infrared roasting of peanuts was done using an infrared rotary dryer. Roasting was operated at 90% infrared power (630 W) with different rotating speed (1 and 2 r/min). The effect of roasting was studied at different moisture levels (7.66%, 11.49%, and 13.72% db). From the study, the color parameter, L* value, was found to be significantly different (P < 0.05), and it decreased with the decrease in rotating speed, and the ∆E value varies from 2.32 to 10.56. Results also showed that the antioxidant activity decreased with the reduction in rotating speed as lesser revolutions took longer roasting time, and the values decreased from 84.34% to 71.74%. Minimal changes in total phenolic content were found and varied from 3.62 to 2.10 mg/g GAE, an appropriate limit for good-quality roasted peanuts. The hardness of roasted peanuts ranged from 12.25 to 39.43 N. Moisture content 13.72%, and 1 r/min is the best possible treatment for infrared peanut roasting, significantly enhancing the quality of peanuts. This study concluded that high-power short-time infrared roasting could give good-quality roasted peanuts with optimum bioactive compounds.

Oriented synthesis of functional materials is a focus of attention in material science. As one of the most important function materials, infrared nonlinear optical materials with large second harmonic generation effects and broad optical band gap are in urgent need. In this work, directed by the theoretical structure prediction, the first series of non‐centrosymmetric (NCS) alkali‐alkaline earth metal [PS4]‐based thiophosphates LiCaPS4 (Ama2), NaCaPS4 (P21), KCaPS4 (Pna21), RbCaPS4 (Pna21), CsCaPS4 (Pna21) were successfully synthesized. Comprehensive characterizations reveal that ACaPS4 could be regarded as promising IR NLO materials, exhibiting wide band gap (3.77–3.86 eV), moderate birefringence (0.027–0.064 at 1064 nm), high laser‐induced damage threshold (LIDT, ~10×AGS), and suitable phase‐matching second harmonic generation responses (0.4–0.6×AGS). Structure‐properties analyses illustrate that the Ca−S bonds show non‐ignorable covalent feature, and [PS4] together with [CaSn] units play dominant roles to determine the band gap and SHG response. This work indicates that Li‐, Na‐ and K‐ analogs may be promising infrared nonlinear optical material candidates, and this is the first successful case of "prediction to synthesis" involving infrared (IR) nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals in the thiophosphate system and may provide a new avenue to the design and oriented synthesis of high‐performance function materials in the future. The regulation of infrared (IR) thermal radiation has received widespread attention; the proposals have been made for various devices that use electrochromic materials. However, the visible appearance of the mentioned devices also changes when the IR states are altered. Herein, the memristive mechanism is utilized to regulate IR emissivity and design a novel transparent memristor‐type modulator featuring an Indium tin oxide (ITO)/HfO2/ITO structure. The modulator exhibits a dynamic emissivity variation of 0.38 in the IR region of 2.5–25 μm, without compromising transparency in the visible region under the application of an electric voltage. The migration of oxygen vacancies results in the modification of interface barriers and the formation of oxygen vacancy‐enriched regions, thereby enabling the modulator to exhibit resistive switching behavior and regulate IR emissivity. An array of modulators is also assembled, demonstrating the ability to independently display visible and IR information. In this work, new possibilities are presented for various applications such as multispectral displays, energy‐efficient thermoregulation, encrypted information displays, and camouflage. Bacteriophages are emerging as a promising alternative in combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria amidst the escalating global antimicrobial resistance crisis. Recently, there has been a notable resurgence of interest in phages, prompting extensive research into their therapeutic potential. Beyond conventional microbiology and virology techniques, such as genomics and proteomics, novel phenotypic and chemical characterization methods are being explored. Among these, there is a growing interest in vibrational spectroscopy, especially in advanced modalities such as surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS), and atomic force microscopy-infrared spectroscopy (AFM-IR), which offer improved sensitivity and spatial resolution. This review explores the spectrum of uses of vibrational spectroscopy for bacteriophages, including its role in diagnostics, biosensing, phage detection, assistance in phage-based therapy, and advancing basic research.
