Technological development imposes new challenges on the State and requires a critical theoretical examination. In this context, this research is dedicated to analyzing the development of colonialism and coloniality in order to, later, introduce the concept of digital coloniality and the need to confront this phenomenon, especially to ensure technological sovereignty and the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) that is tailored to the Brazilian context, avoiding the concentration of technological power and informational plundering. The primary objective of this investigation is to propose a digital decolonial approach, indicating the possibility for Brazil to adopt the configuration of an intelligent State, creating and guiding the development of algorithms that are aligned with the foundations and objectives of the 1988 Constitution. This would involve implementing a Bethânia (Brazilian) AI model that adapts the country's characteristics and needs, building it through state public policies aimed at technological sovereignty and sustainable development. This essay undertakes a critical analysis of the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the teaching and learning of mathematics. From the perspective of artificial intelligence, it examines the dynamics of interaction between humans and intelligent systems, exploring their influence on educational processes and the acquisition of mathematical knowledge. It addresses crucial aspects such as mutual responsibility for the informatics/didactic interface, the evolution of technological tools in mathematics education, and the fundamental theories that guide our understanding of the use of digital artefacts in this context. It highlights concrete examples of recent projects to illustrate the practical applications and constraints affecting mathematical work. Aiming to provide a holistic view, it explores how technology not only enhances mathematics education, but also generates a new kind of mathematical work in terms of control, necessity and obstacles. It examines the implications for the development of the mathematical working space, both as a system of activity and as a method of research in didactics of mathematics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: To examine the relationship between the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess and monitor job performance and exposure to psychosocial risk factors, as well as associated adverse health effects in the European work environment. Method: Cross-sectional study using microdata from the 2022 "Occupational Safety and Health in Post-Pandemic Workplaces (Flash Eurobarometer)" survey (EU-OSHA) with 27252 participants. After selecting 12 dichotomous dependent variables (psychosocial risks and adverse health effects) and the presence of AI and its various uses to supervise and evaluate workers performance as independent variables, we calculated the crude and adjusted (aOR) odds ratios by sociodemographic covariates and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: When AI is used to monitor or control individual performance, it increases time pressure and work overload (ORa=1.5;95%CI:1.3-1.7), reduces autonomy or influence over work processes (ORa=2.2;95%CI:2.1-2.3), and erodes communication or cooperation within the organization (ORa=1.5;95%CI:1.4-1.6). It also increases the probability of reporting stress, depression or anxiety (ORa=1.5; 95%CI:1.4-1.5) and accidents or injuries (ORa=1.7; 95%CI:1.6-1.8). Conclusions: AI as a "digital supervisor" increases exposure to psychosocial risk factors and the likelihood of health damage. This highlights the importance of considering worker well-being along with economic efficiency when implementing AI in work organizations. These results can guide labor policies to balance process optimization with healthy work environments through social dialogue. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Over the past decade, rapid progress in artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed a range of areas, from medicine to strategic games and communication technologies, from art and culture to everyday office work. It would be naïve to assume that this evolution does not permeate and alter international affairs. Building on, and solidifying, a thriving yet still fragmented emerging literature on "AI IR," this forum gathers several critical diagnoses of the way AI technologies impact on various areas of international relations. Introducing new concepts and charting emerging empirical realities, contributors explore how AI advances, such as autonomous lethal systems, synthetic imagery and text, or intelligent systems, are already creating new landscapes of violent and nonviolent international interactions. Yet, behind their distinct takes, contributions together stress the need to correctly locate and evaluate specific sites of AI impact, thus offering a nuanced appraisal scrutinizing grand declarations of an "AI revolution" in global politics. ARTIFICIAL intelligence - Abstract
The emergence of increasingly capable artificial intelligence (AI) systems has raised concerns about the potential extreme risks associated with them. The issue has drawn substantial attention in academic literature and compelled legislators of regulatory frameworks like the European Union AI Act (AIA) to readapt them to the new paradigm. This paper examines whether the European Parliament's draft of the AIA constitutes an appropriate approach to address the risks derived from frontier models. In particular, we discuss whether the AIA reflects the policy needs diagnosed by recent literature and determine if the requirements falling on providers of foundation models are appropriate, sufficient, and durable. We find that the provisions are generally adequate, but insufficiently defined in some areas and lacking in others. Finally, the AIA is characterized as an evolving framework whose durability will depend on the institutions' ability to adapt to future progress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) is covering many areas such as institutional, business, work or personal, and with its relevant changes occur in the industry, services, or territorial planning, among others. The objective of this text is to reflect on whether the use of technologies linked to AI in the management of territories can contribute to their transformation into "smart cities" or "smart tourist destinations", from a perspective that considers socioeconomic and environmental resilience. To do this, basic concepts and structures that comprise artificial intelligence (AI) are examined, and how the technological tools featured by AI - Big data, blockchain, Internet of Things, etc. - can go beyond the marketing and competitiveness strategies, as long as they are oriented to urban and territorial governance. Likewise, the importance of considering the limitations and challenges of AI is highlighted, such as ethical, labor, social or environmental issues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONSTRUCTION industry accidents , *COST benefit analysis , *DIGITAL twins , *INDUSTRIAL safety , *ARTIFICIAL intelligence - Abstract
The high accident rate in the construction industry has a major impact on how well projects turn out. Despite substantial investments in safety planning and supervision, there has been a marked increase in the construction industry’s accident rate compared to other sectors. Serious games based on VR have recently been used in the study, suggesting that workers are now more safety conscious. However, these situations need many resources to create and are not always realistic. Hence this paper, Digital Twin-based Construction Safety Training Framework (DT-CSTF) with Artificial Intelligence (AI), has been proposed to monitor employees’ emotional, mental, and physical well-being in real-time. The report sheds light on the significance of DT technology and its function in Industry 5.0. Using the Unity game engine, the proposed DT-CSTF creates a virtual reality-based training environment (VRTE) prototype that incorporates BIM, construction timetables, and safety requirements. Following this, the suggested structure enables gathering user data about risks and providing tailored feedback. Automated virtual reality game training scenarios are created using data given by digital twins on project intent, project status, safety requirements, and history. Both improved digital twins and periodic construction safety monitoring are anticipated to reap the benefits of dynamic virtual reality training. The proposed management system offers effectiveness of VR-based security training, cost-benefit analysis, monitoring, employee behaviour, safety education values are obtained by the ratio of 96,90 %, 98,33 %, 99,25 %, 95,91 %, 98,66 % respectively. ARTIFICIAL intelligence , *PUBLIC services , *INDUSTRIAL location , *NATURAL resources , *WATER supply - Abstract
The Artificial Intelligence revolution is turning its attention toward Latin America. The region features an extraordinary abundance of natural resources paired with a strategic location for the industry, a relatively stable political context, and high demand for investment. This new AI hub could serve as a key factor for geopolitical balance, countering China's influential investments in infrastructure. Latin American countries also have a unique advantage: they can host the entire AI development, including natural resource extraction, chip manufacturing, data centers, and e-waste facilities. Yet, the environmental impact of unsustainable AI can hinder fragile energy and water public services, quickly leaving multiple communities without basic access. Finding proactive mitigation policies and leveraging local expertise will be key to a long-term realization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gained attention in tourism, which requires its sustainability. Our study focuses on a bibliometric analysis of AI in sustainable tourism using 174 manuscripts from 2000 to 2022. One of the main findings is that 'intelligence' appears frequently, followed by related terms such as work, performance, resources, sustainability, impact, optimization and management. There is no previous evidence on AI in the context of sustainable tourism to explain how public managers or politicians design public policies to create and improve resource efficiency. MEDIA studies , *MASS media - Abstract
This retrospective review of nearly a century of publications in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly (JMCQ) traces the maturation of media studies toward a scientific discipline. The field's dominant paradigms—media effects and communicator uses—persist, adapt, and diversify over time, yielding actionable insights. Challenges include (a) bridging older and newer media theories, (b) harnessing data science, and (c) capitalizing on artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Future media research can conceptualize evolving three-dimensional interactions among media, people, and AI. We propose seven initiatives for the next century: revisiting classical theories, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, balancing descriptive and prescriptive theorization, nurturing indigenous theorizing, collaborating with industry, reverse theorizing with AI, and exploring and regulating AI's role in media. In recent years, there has been unprecedented development in artificial intelligence (AI). The contracting of artificial intelligence solutions is an everyday practice. Yet, there is still no legislative framework that deals with the uncertainties it poses, especially although not only, in the field of intellectual property and liability. In this article, we address legal technical aspects related to the contracting between companies (B2B) of AI solutions for the development of their internal or external activity and we do so from a practical perspective. In particular, we will discuss the guarantees which should be requested from manufacturers, the options available to regulate the rights over the products resulting from the implementation of these solutions, the challenges regarding confidentiality and, finally, some issues on the product liability of the AI provider. Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a global policy issue that is actively governed by international actors producing governance indicators. This article argues that despite the arguments about disruptions to governance and policy due to AI, the global rankings increasingly constitute a strong path dependence on AI policy, leading to conformity with existing policies and institutional practices of economic competitiveness. By analyzing the composition and data sources of global indices in competitiveness, innovation, human capital, and artificial intelligence, I will show how the global rankings now evolve by sharing data and concepts. Consequently, these metrics and related policy scripts promote the seeming continuity of current activities of global competitiveness. AI is discussed as a "revolution" but framed as a matter of "competitiveness," "openness," and "talent competition," implying standard perceptions of economic competitiveness and innovation. There is also a narrative element in the policy script, as the future policies on AI are promoted with references to history that also project the past into the future. My article concludes that while path‐dependent policy indicators and related future narratives give a sense of orientation, they are problematic as they portray a seeming continuity of activities in times of disruptions, delimiting policy alternatives such as AI ethics. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are increasingly utilized in share market services due to significant efficiencies and benefits for companies and investors across the globe. This has resulted in an alteration in the firm's business models and has a potential impact on the effectiveness of the share market and could harm investors. Indian share market is also witnessing the usage of this technology by market intermediaries. The present regulatory framework of Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on share market intermediaries is not dealing with the Fintech/technology 2.0-based products and services offered in retail trading and investment advisor platforms in India. The research is primarily based on the normative method presenting a qualitative analysis of the usage of AI & ML in various business models by share market intermediaries. How various share market regulators are addressing and regulating this technology usage and their judicial exposition. The paper concludes that the Indian share market is no exception & SEBI require to look at this new transformation and address the challenges posed by it. SEBI needs to take a proactive step to promote, guide & regulate usages of AI & ML which is gradually seeking the attention of Indian share market intermediaries into their business models and get the maximum benefit out of these technologies. As defined in economic theory, artificial intelligence (AI) can be considered an industry. In this context, two simultaneous processes are observed: concurrence and cooperation. The current dispute between China and the United States for world leadership in AI should be placed against this background. Thus, the description in this paper of concrete policies and measures that the Chinese regime pursued to promote its AI industry and identify its strategy to increase its influence on the standardization processes in the emerging industry is extremely important. RANDOM forest algorithms , *PRICE indexes , *PRICES , *STOCK exchanges , *STOCK price indexes , *LOGISTIC regression analysis - Abstract
The research presented in this article analyzed the performance of the random forest algorithm in predicting the future return of the main indices of the largest stock exchanges in the world, through historical trading prices. A sample composed of the daily quotes of 35 indices of the largest stock exchanges in the world from 2001 to 2019 was used. In addition to the random forest algorithm, models were estimated, based on the decision tree algorithm and using the logistic regression technique. The models were estimated considering maximum and closing prices, as well as the complete period and its division into sub-periods. The results indicated that the performances of the estimated models were superior to the market average, and the random forest presented the best results. All models trained on the maximum prices of the indices performed better than those trained on closing prices. In addition, the subperiod models performed better for the random forest. The efficiency of markets in the weak form has been questioned in the contemporary context of the rise of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for forecasting in finance. The study is relevant as it contributes to the literature on the use of AI algorithms in forecasting asset prices in the financial market. The main indices of the largest stock exchanges in the world were analyzed, generating general subsidies that can help guide future research in the area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With digital ecosystems being questioned around the world, this paper examines the EU's role in and contribution to the emerging concept of artificial intelligence (AI) governance. Seen by the EU as the key ingredient for innovation, the adoption of AI systems has altered our understanding of governance. Framing AI as an autonomous digital technology embedded in social structures, this paper argues that EU citizens' trust in AI can be increased if the innovation it entails is grounded in a fundamental rights-based approach. This is assessed based on the work of the High-Level Expert Group on AI (which has developed a framework for trustworthy AI) and the European Commission's recently approved proposal for an Artificial Intelligence Act (taking a risk-based approach).

- Abstract
Es importante destacar que esta información no ha sido extraída de este lugar., Official reports of hate crimes in the United States are underestimated compared to the actual number of such incidents. Additionally, despite statistical approximations, many American cities lack official reports on hate incidents. Here, we initially demonstrate that event extraction and multi-instance learning, based on artificial intelligence (AI), applied to a set of local news articles, can predict hate crime cases.
