Economic processes from territorial perspective can be analyzed using various approaches such as identifying the territorial levels at which firms operate. This involves understanding where firms source their inputs from, the location of their markets and the extent of their relations with stakeholders. The paper aims to measure the spatial extent of firms based on a personal perception of smalland medium-sized enterprises' (SMEs) ownermanagers. Based on structured interviews in 2021-2022 with thirty SMEs in Győr, Hungary the paper looks for the answer to what is the spatial extent of the operations of the surveyed firms in the dimensions of inputs, outputs, relationships and corporate impacts? Exception of one of the surveyed companies, all of them are present at least at the regional level and some of them have already entered international markets as well. Firms are mostly considered local in the case of the workforce, while stocks are mainly purchased from international markets. The results of the research characterize the spatial extent of the firms, which can serve as useful information about the territorial role of SMEs for both practitioners and scholars.
