Objectives: Patients in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) who are high in interpersonal sensitivity may have difficulty fully engaging in treatment because therapy sessions require intimate interpersonal interactions that are especially uncomfortable for these individuals. The current study tests the hypotheses that patients who are high in interpersonal sensitivity benefit less from CBT for symptoms of depression and anxiety, show a slower rate of change in those symptoms, and are more likely to drop out of treatment. Methods: Participants were 832 outpatients who received naturalistic CBT. We assessed interpersonal sensitivity before treatment began and depression and anxiety symptoms at every therapy session. We assessed early, premature, and uncollaborative termination after treatment ended. We constructed multilevel linear regression models and logistic regression models to assess the effects of baseline interpersonal sensitivity on the treatment outcome, the slope of change in depression and anxiety symptoms, and each type of dropout. Results: Higher baseline interpersonal sensitivity was associated with a slower rate of change and less overall change in anxiety but not depressive symptoms. Baseline interpersonal sensitivity was not a predictor of dropout. Conclusions: Interpersonal sensitivity at baseline predicts less change and a slower rate of change in anxiety symptoms. Early detection of elevated interpersonal sensitivity can help therapists take action to address these barriers to successful treatment and help scientists build decision support tools that accurately predict the trajectory of change in anxiety symptoms for these patients. Accessible Summary: What is known about the subject?: Loneliness is common among young and middle‐aged stroke survivors. It not only hinders the recovery of their neurological and physical functions but also increases the risk of stroke recurrence, disability, and even death.Improving the mental health of young and middle‐aged stroke survivors is of utmost importance. Aims: To investigate the influence of stigma, interpersonal sensitivity and resilience on loneliness among young and middle‐aged stroke survivors. Methods: A cross‐sectional design was used to collect data. A total of 330 participants completed measures of stigma, resilience, interpersonal sensitivity and loneliness. The descriptive statistical approach, Pearson's correlation analysis and Hayes' PROCESS Macro Model 4 and 7 in regression analysis were used to analyse the available data. Results: The results revealed that young and middle‐aged stroke survivors' stigma, resilience, interpersonal sensitivity and loneliness were significantly correlated between every two variables, with coefficients ranging between −0.157 and 0.682. Interpersonal sensitivity played a partial mediating role in stigma and loneliness, accounting for 63.27% of the total effect; This process was moderated by resilience. Discussion: Stigma positively predicts participants' loneliness. As a mediating mechanism with moderating, interpersonal sensitivity and resilience further explain how stigma affects loneliness. Implications for Practice: Understanding this mechanism is of guiding significance to reduce loneliness of young and middle‐aged stroke patients and promote their physical and mental rehabilitation. Hierarchical regression and bootstrap analysis were used.Results: Interpersonal sensitivity not only had a significant direct negative effect on the subjective well-being of migrant workers’ accompanying children (β= − 0.27, 95% CI = [− 0.37, − 0.17]), but also had an indirect effect through perception of exclusion (β= − 0.06, 95% CI = [− 0.11, − 0.03]). Peer support negatively moderated the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and perception of exclusion (β= − 0.18, 95% CI = [− 0.28, − 0.08]) and the mediating effect of perceptions of exclusion between interpersonal sensitivity and subjective well-being (β = 0.06, CI = [0.02, 0.11]).Conclusion: The subjective well-being of migrant children is indeed lower than that of urban children, and one of the most important reasons is their higher interpersonal sensitivity. Interpersonal sensitivity not only directly reduces their subjective well-being, but also reduces it by triggering their perception of exclusion, while peer support can effectively mitigate this negative effect. Therefore, one way to improve the subjective well-being of these children is to reduce their excessive interpersonal sensitivity. Introduction: While adversity can bring great challenges to individuals’ life and work, many people also find ways to make positive changes and adapt to these difficult circumstances. Individuals tend to make social comparisons more frequently and intensely when faced with adversity or high stress. The study attempts to examine the influence mechanism of downward social comparison on individual adversarial growth. Methods: By collecting data from 353 Chinese who have experienced adversities in the past 3 years, the study validates the dual mediating model of gratitude and self-acceptance and explores the moderating effect of interpersonal sensitivity. Results: The findings indicate that: downward social comparison can increase the occurrence of adversarial growth by enhancing individuals’ self-acceptance and gratitude. Compared to individuals with low interpersonal sensitivity, individuals with high interpersonal sensitivity are more likely to facilitate the occurrence of adversarial growth through self-acceptance and gratitude due to downward social comparison. Discussion: In the face of adversity, individuals can regain self-confidence and respond positively by comparing themselves to people in worse situations than themselves. AbstractA questionnaire survey was conducted among 908 middle school students to explore the boundary conditions under which parental marital quality influences adolescents’ social media addiction. The results showed that (1) parental marital quality negatively predicted adolescents’ social media addiction; (2) interpersonal sensitivity moderated the relationship between adolescents’ parental marital quality and social media addiction; and (3) peer relationships moderated the relationship between adolescents’ parental marital quality and social media addiction. These findings help to deepen the understanding of the boundary conditions under which parental marital quality leads to adolescents’ social media addiction and have implications for intervention in Internet addiction. Little is known about the mechanism between interpersonal stressors and social anxiety in college students. This study was to investigate the mediating effect of interpersonal sensitivity between interpersonal stressors and social anxiety. The data was taken from a large-scale health-related cohort among Chinese college students. This study used data from the first four waves, including 4191 participants. The latent growth curve mediation model was used to examine the potential mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity in the relationship between interpersonal stressors and social anxiety over time. Both levels and changes in interpersonal stressors were positively associated with subsequent levels and changes in social anxiety. Mediation analysis showed that interpersonal sensitivity mediated the relationship between interpersonal stressors and social anxiety. All variables were collected based on self-report. Interpersonal stressor is a significant risk factor for social anxiety, and this association appears to be mediated by interpersonal sensitivity. This study investigated the relationship between perfectionism and relative deprivation among nursing students in China as well as the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity and the moderating role of resilience in this relationship. A cross‐sectional study design involved 682 nursing students participants from two universities in Henan Province, China, using questionnaires about demographics, perfectionism, relative deprivation, interpersonal sensitivity, and resilience. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analysis and the PROCESS macro in regression analysis were used for data analysis. Adaptive perfectionism was not significantly correlated with relative deprivation, while maladaptive perfectionism was significantly positively correlated with interpersonal sensitivity, relative deprivation, and resilience. Interpersonal sensitivity mediated the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and relative deprivation, accounting for 41.07% of the total effect. Moreover, the first half path and direct path of this process were moderated by resilience. These results show that targeted interventions to reduce maladaptive perfectionism, reduce interpersonal sensitivity and improve resilience of nursing students could help reduce their relative deprivation. Practitioner Points: The level of maladaptive perfectionism significantly positively predicted relative deprivation among nursing students.Interpersonal sensitivity is an important mechanism linking maladaptive perfectionism and relative deprivation. Childhood trauma and interpersonal sensitivity impact the development of mood disorders. In this study, we investigate the association between childhood trauma and interpersonal sensitivity in patients with mood disorders. A total 775 patients (major depressive disorder [MDD, n = 241], bipolar I disorder [BD I, n = 119], and bipolar II disorder [BD II, n = 415]) and 734 controls. For evaluation, we used the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ) and Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM). We examined between-group differences for each subscale in the CTQ and IPSM. Patients with BD II had significantly higher IPSM total scores than patients with MDD, BD I, or controls. The CTQ total score was related to the IPSM total score in all participants and subgroups. Among the CTQ subscales, emotional abuse showed the highest correlation with the IPSM total score, while separation anxiety and fragile inner self showed higher positive correlations with CTQ than the other subscales of IPSM in all patient groups and the control group, respectively. The findings reveal that childhood trauma and interpersonal sensitivity are positively correlated among patients with MDD, BD I, and BD II, and that interpersonal sensitivity is higher in patients with BD II than those with BD I or MDD. Childhood trauma is associated with interpersonal sensitivity, and each trauma type has a different impact on mood disorders. We introduce the Denver Pain Authenticity Stimulus Set (D-PASS), a free resource containing 315 videos of 105 unique individuals expressing authentic and posed pain. All expressers were recorded displaying one authentic (105; pain was elicited via a pressure algometer) and two posed (210) expressions of pain (one posed expression recorded before [posed-unrehearsed] and one recorded after [posed-rehearsed] the authentic pain expression). In addition to authentic and posed pain videos, the database includes an accompanying codebook including metrics assessed at the expresser and video levels (e.g., Facial Action Coding System metrics for each video controlling for neutral images of the expresser), expressers' pain threshold and pain tolerance values, averaged pain detection performance by naïve perceivers who viewed the videos (e.g., accuracy, response bias), neutral images of each expresser, and face characteristic rating data for neutral images of each expresser (e.g., attractiveness, trustworthiness). The stimuli and accompanying codebook can be accessed for academic research purposes from https://digitalcommons.du.edu/lsdl%5fdpass/1/. The relatively large number of stimuli allow for consideration of expresser-level variability in analyses and enable more advanced statistical approaches (e.g., signal detection analyses). Furthermore, the large number of Black (n = 41) and White (n = 56) expressers permits investigations into the role of race in pain expression, perception, and authenticity detection. Purpose. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and relational aggression with the mediating role of resilience in married people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Materials and methods. This research was a cross-sectional analytical correlation study. In this study, 234 people with MS were selected by convenience sampling method and responded to the research questionnaires. In order to collect data, the couple relationship aggression and victimization scale (CRAViS), interpersonal sensitivity scale (IPSM), and resilience scale (CD-RISC) were used. Results. The results showed that the proposed model has good processing (ꭕ2/df=1.29, CFI=.98, RMSEA=.03). Path analysis results showed that interpersonal sensitivity didn't have a significant direct effect on communicative aggression (β=.132, p=.096); But interpersonal sensitivity has a negative and significant effect on resilience (β=-.803, p=.001) and resilience has a negative and significant effect (β=-.575, p=.001) on communicative aggression. Based on this, it can be said that resilience plays a full mediating role between interpersonal sensitivity and relational aggression (β=.461, p=.001). Conclusion. Overall, it can be concluded that interpersonal sensitivity, due to its negative on resilience, can increase aggressive behaviors in people who suffer from MS, based on this, the implementation of educational and therapeutic interventions for the Improvement of interpersonal sensitivity and resilience is suggested.

This study aims to examine the mediating role of psychological capital and its dimensions in the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and depressive symptoms among undergraduates.Methods: The cross-sectional survey was conducted by using cluster stratified random sampling method across six Chinese universities between November and December 2022. The questionnaire consists of the Interpersonal Sensitivity sub-scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire, the Psychological Capital Questionnaire and the Socio-Demographic Feature Questionnaire.Results: A total of 2580 respondents participated in the survey, with the majority being females (69.73%) and an average age of 19.22± 1.28 years. Descriptive and correlation analyses were performed using SPSS v24.0, while direct and indirect effects were analyzed using PROCESS v3.4 macro. The findings revealed that interpersonal sensitivity had a significant direct effect on depression symptoms among undergraduates (β =0.416, 95% Boot CI [0.380, 0.453], p < 0.001) Additionally, psychological capital and its components were found to be negatively correlated with depression (p < 0.001). Further analysis demonstrated that hope, optimism, and resilience significantly mediated the association between interpersonal sensitivity and depressive symptoms (indirect effect: hope = 0.056, optimism = 0.074, resilience = 0.099; p < 0.001 for all).Conclusion: These results suggest that psychological capital, including its dimensions of hope, optimism, and resilience plays a crucial role in mitigating the negative effects of interpersonal sensitivity on depressive symptoms among undergraduates.Keywords: depressive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, psychological capital, Chinese undergraduates, multiple mediation

Background: Appearance anxiety and depression have become common and global public health problems worldwide, especially among adolescents. However, few studies have revealed the mechanisms between them. This study aimed to explore the multiple mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity and social support between appearance anxiety and depression among medical college students. Methods: With 13 invalid samples excluded, 724 college students participated in our survey and completed questionnaires. The average age of 724 samples was 19.8 ± 2.02 including freshman to senior year and graduate school and above; 31.9% of the participants were male and 68.1% were female. SPSS 25.0 and Hayes' PROCESS macro were used for statistical description, correlation analysis and built multiple mediation models. Results: Appearance anxiety can not only directly affect depression, but also indirectly affect depression through three significant mediating pathways: (1) IS (B = 0.106, 95% CI [0.082-0.132]), which accounted for 49.77% of the total effect, (2) SS (B = 0.018, 95% CI [0.008-0.031]), which accounted for 8.45% of the total effect, and (3) IS and SS (B = 0.008, 95% CI [0.003-0.014]), which accounted for 3.76% of the total effect. And the total mediating effect was 61.97%. Limitations: It is a cross-sectional research method and the causal relationship is unclear. Conclusions: This study found that lower interpersonal sensitivity and higher social support can effectively reduce depression caused by appearance anxiety among college students. The schools and relevant departments should take measures to reduce the interpersonal sensitivity of college students and establish reliable social support, so as to reduce the occurrence of depression. Depression is the most common and influential psychological disorder among college students. This study constructed a chain mediation model to test whether negative core schemas and interpersonal sensitivity play mediating roles in adult attachment and depressive symptoms. A total of 457 participants were recruited from three universities in Central China. They completed the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale, Brief Core Schema Scale, Short-Form Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure, and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. The results showed: (1) There were significant positive correlations between attachment anxiety/avoidance and symptoms of depression; (2) College students' depressive symptoms were influenced by attachment anxiety and avoidance through three pathways: the mediating role of negative core schemas, the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity, and the chain-mediating role of both negative core schemas and interpersonal sensitivity. These findings provide preliminary data to support future research on the internal mechanisms through which adult attachment affects depressive symptoms from integrative and cognitive interpersonal perspectives. This research also suggests that universities should identify college students with attachment anxiety/avoidance at an early stage and provide timely interventions to reduce negative core schemas and interpersonal sensitivity, thus minimizing future depressive symptoms. The term "empathic accuracy" has been applied to people's ability to infer the contents of other people's minds—that is, other people's varying feelings and/or thoughts over the course of a social interaction. However, despite the ease of intuitively linking this skill to competence in helping professions such as counseling, the "empathic" prefix in its name may have contributed to overestimating its association with prosocial traits and behaviors. Accuracy in reading others' thoughts and feelings, like many other skills, can be used toward prosocial—but also malevolent or morally neutral—ends. Prosocial intentions can direct attention towards other people's thoughts and feelings, which may, in turn, increase accuracy in inferring those thoughts and feelings, but attention to others' thoughts and feelings does not necessarily heighten prosocial intentions, let alone outcomes. Self-compassion is a construct of positive psychology related to personality and cognitive factors. Perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity are prevalent personality traits among university students and are associated with low self-compassion. Further research is required to comprehend how these mechanisms work in creating self-compassion. Consequently, the current study investigated the direct and indirect relationship between perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity with self-compassion via repetitive negative thinking. To this end, a sample of 450 students studying in Tehran during the 2022 academic year was selected as the study sample. The results indicated that perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity demonstrate a negative direct relationship with self-compassion, while perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity exhibit an indirect relationship with self-compassion via repetitive negative thinking. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the relationship between perfectionism and interpersonal sensitivity with self-compassion is not straightforward and that repetitive negative thinking can mediate this relationship. The results can be used to improve methods for increasing self-compassion and paying attention to personality, and cognitive factors can be an important step toward more effective self-compassion interventions. IntroductionThe wellbeing of retired teachers is often easily overlooked. This study aims to explore the mental health status and influencing factors of retired teachers.MethodFrom October to December 2022, a convenient sampling survey was conducted on retired teachers using the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), mainly using the χ2-test and logistic regression analysis.ResultsA sampling survey was conducted on 353 retired teachers, with an overall positive detection rate of 16.1%. The five factors with the highest positive detection rate were found to be obsessive-compulsive disorder (30.3%), interpersonal sensitivity (21.5%), paranoia (20.1%), anxiety (19.3%), and others (19.3%). The detection rates for the five factors, namely psychosis, depression, hostility, terror, and somatization, are all below 19%. The data on sex (χ2 = 4.626, P = 0.043), professional title (χ2 = 17.670, P = 0.003), income (χ2 = 9.960, P = 0.041), life satisfaction (χ2 = 27.348, P = 0.000), family relationships (χ2 = 51.451, P = 0.000), and physical health status (χ2 = 50.361, P = 0.000) show that the difference in mental health among retired teachers is statistically significant. The multivariate binary logistic regression analysis revealed that family relationships, life satisfaction, and physical health were important factors leading to mental health problems among retired teachers.DiscussionRetired teachers should cultivate a wide range of interests and hobbies, engage in regular physical exercise, develop healthy living habits, foster a positive family atmosphere, establish harmonious family relationships, promote community cultural construction, strengthen psychological intervention, and prevent psychological diseases.

Abstract: Background: In clinical psychology, interpersonal sensitivity is defined as a vulnerability to perceived signs of rejection in interpersonal situations; it plays an important role in the development of psychopathology, especially mood disorders. We investigated the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity, emotion-regulation strategies, and emotional reactivity in a group of youths without mental health issues. Method: Participants (N = 231, 46 men, 185 women, 18–25 years old) were recruited from online groups focusing on education, social activism, and psychological self-help. Measures: Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure, Perth Emotional Reactivity Scale, and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Results: Negative emotional reactivity predicted all dimensions of interpersonal sensitivity. Positive emotional reactivity negatively predicted fear of rejection and dependence on the opinion of others. Only expressive suppression predicted the fear of rejection. Activation and intensity of negative emotions moderated the link between expressive suppression and fear of rejection. With the excessive smartphone use in the workplace, supervisor phubbing has drawn broad concerns in managerial and academic fields. Though the neglect is unintentional, this behavior can generate counterproductive working behaviors. The basic assumptions of this study are that supervisor phubbing can impact employee psychological withdrawal behavior directly and indirectly via work alienation. To provide empirical evidence for the assumptions, the two-wave online survey of 302 Chinese employees without any supervisory functions was conducted on the Questionnaire Star platform. Based on the stressor-emotion model, work alienation is proved to be the psychological path in the positive relationship between supervisor phubbing and employee psychological withdrawal behavior. Different from the current studies exploring the impact mechanism of phubbing behavior on psychological withdrawal behavior between parents and children, couples, or friends, we put this mechanism into the workplace and focus on subordinate–superior relationships. In addition, the positive indirect effects are enhanced when employees have higher interpersonal sensitivity. In practice, these findings suggest that organizations should normalize the smart devices use in the workplace, and supervisors should balance their working roles with other roles. In addition, organizations should strengthen training on adjusting to negative emotions and interpersonal sensitivity control at work. Although two rounds of the time-lagged data were collected in a one-month interval, the limitations of cross-section data still exist, so the conclusions cannot establish causality. This study explored the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and life satisfaction among college students, the mediating effect of smartphone addiction, and the moderating effect of connectedness to nature. A total of 702 college students (453 females, Meanage = 19.60 years, SD = 1.33 years) completed the Interpersonal Sensitivity Scale, Mobile Phone Addiction Index, Connectedness to Nature Scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale. Following moderated mediation analysis, the results showed that smartphone addiction mediated the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and life satisfaction among college students. Furthermore, connectedness to nature did not moderate the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and life satisfaction among college students, but it moderated the relationship between smartphone addiction and life satisfaction among college students. These findings identified both risk factors and protective factors that influence life satisfaction among college students, providing valuable guidance for enhancing their life satisfaction. This study explored interpersonal sensitivity and peer relationships as mechanisms in the parental marital quality and adolescents' online social addiction. Participants were 914 Chinese middle school students (females = 53.39%; mean age = 13.95, SD = 1.89 years). They completed measures of the Marital Adjustment Test, the Interpersonal Relationship Sensitivity Subscale of SCL-90, the Peer Relationships Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Online Interpersonal Relationship Addiction Scale. Path analysis results showed that higher parental marital quality was associated with lower adolescents' risk for online social addiction. Interpersonal sensitivity played a partial mediating role in the relationship between adolescents' parental marital quality and online social addiction, to explain only some of the adolescents' online social addiction. Peer relationships had a moderating effect on the relationship between adolescents' parental marital quality and online social addiction so that as peer relationships improved, parental marital quality effects on adolescents' online social addiction declined. Abstract:Background: In clinical psychology, interpersonal sensitivity is defined as a vulnerability to perceived signs of rejection in interpersonal situations; it plays an important role in the development of psychopathology, especially mood disorders. We investigated the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity, emotion-regulation strategies, and emotional reactivity in a group of youths without mental health issues. Method: Participants (N = 231, 46 men, 185 women, 18–25 years old) were recruited from online groups focusing on education, social activism, and psychological self-help. Measures: Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure, Perth Emotional Reactivity Scale, and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Results: Negative emotional reactivity predicted all dimensions of interpersonal sensitivity. Positive emotional reactivity negatively predicted fear of rejection and dependence on the opinion of others. Only expressive suppression predicted the fear of rejection. Activation and intensity of negative emotions moderated the link between expressive suppression and fear of rejection. The emphasis on well-being in mental health definitions and the impact of positive psychology studies, it is observed that the interest in the factors explaining the subjective well-being (happiness) of individuals is increasing day by day. Subjective well-being involves cognitive and emotional evaluation of life. These evaluations may vary from one area of life to another and may have positive or negative effects on happiness. For this reason, numerous studies have focused on the relationship between subjective well-being and various aspects of life domains including friendship, romantic relationships, and academic achievement. However, it is noteworthy that the extent and priority of how the dynamics of various life domains collectively contribute to individuals' subjective well-being have not yet to been sufficiently clarified. From this point of view, the present study aimed to investigate the predictive role of the subcomponents of university students' interpersonal sensitivity, academic self-perception and attachment-based experiences in close relationship in their subjective well-being and to determine the priority status of these factors. The participants of the study consisted of 410 (235 female, 175 male) university students between the ages of 18-25. As a result of the correlation analysis, statistically significant relationships were found between all of the subdimensions of interpersonal sensitivity, academic self and experiences in close relationship and subjective well-being. The results of the stepwise regression analysis revealed four statistically significant models to explain subjective well-being. At each stage, when the effects of the subdimensions included in the previous model were controlled, the explanatory levels of the variables included in the model for subjective well-being were 30% for lack of social self-confidence, 12% for academic effort, 3% for interpersonal anxiety and dependency, and 4% for non-assertive behaviors, respectively. Social anxiety disorder (SAD) has been frequently reported by subjects with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). However, interestingly, the overlap between social anxiety and autistic traits may sometimes impede ASD diagnosis in subjects without intellectual or language impairment. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the presence and correlates of social phobic features among subjects with ASD, with a specific focus on evaluating which social anxiety symptoms may be statistically predictive of an ASD diagnosis. With this purpose, 48 subjects with ASD and 48 gender- and age- matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited and assessed with the SHY-SV and the AdAS Spectrum questionnaires. Results highlighted higher scores in all SHY-SV Spectrum domains and total scores for the ASD group. Moreover, AdAS Spectrum scores were significantly correlated with all SHY-SV domain and total scores. A logistic regression analysis highlighted the SHY-SV Interpersonal sensitivity and Substance Abuse domains scores as significant positive predictors of an ASD diagnosis. These results confirm the link between ASD and SAD. Objectives: Cognitive behavioral and mindfulness interventions have been shown to promote well-being in individuals with chronic illness. However, the underlying psychological processes through which these interventions impact well-being are not fully explored. This secondary analysis study aimed to examine the role of perceived social support, interpersonal sensitivity, and perceived stress as mediators of the positive effect of individualized online Cognitive Behavioral and Mindfulness Intervention (COBMINDEX) on life satisfaction among patients with Crohn's disease (CD). Method: Patients with mild or moderately active disease (n=142) were randomly assigned to either COBMINDEX intervention or treatment-as-usual control group. After a period of 3 months, the control group also received the COBMINDEX intervention. Complete data were collected from 120 patients (COBMINDEX=60, TAU=60). Analysis of covariance assessed group differences in post-intervention scores, controlling for baseline scores. Multiple parallel mediation analysis assessed the proposed mechanisms for the entire sample. Results: Individuals in the COBMINDEX condition reported significantly lower levels of perceived stress (F=28.06, p<0.01) and interpersonal sensitivity (F=12.78, p<0.01) than those in the control condition. The COBMINDEX group also had significantly higher levels of life satisfaction (F=9.79, p<0.01) compared to the control group. Perceived social support did not differ across groups (F=2.73, p=0.10). Analysis of indirect effects revealed significant effects of perceived stress (b=0.52, 95% CI [0.16, 1.03]) and interpersonal sensitivity (b=0.73, 95% CI [0.31, 1.35]); thus, the positive effect of COBMINDEX on life satisfaction was mediated by changes in interpersonal sensitivity and perceived stress. Conclusions: The findings highlight the importance of targeting mental processes such as interpersonal sensitivity to enhance patients' life satisfaction. These findings suggest that practitioners might consider COBMINDEX as an adjunct intervention for patients with CD. Previous studies suggested that controlling parenting behaviors and higher social media use seem to be associated with several internalizing problems, such as anxiety or rejection sensitivity. In the present study, based on the Tripartite Sociocultural Influence Model and the Sociocultural Model of Disordered Eating, we investigated the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity on the relationship between adolescents' perceived parental controlling behaviors, social network use, and physical appearance anxiety. A cross-sectional approach was used in a sample consisting of 488 early and middle adolescents aged 12 to 15 (M = 13.57, SD =.93, 52.3% females). The results suggested that adolescents' sensitivity to other people's behaviors and feelings decreased when controlling parenting was higher. In addition, interpersonal sensitivity partially mediated the relation between adolescents' perceived parental controlling behaviors and physical appearance anxiety, as well as between social network use and physical appearance anxiety, when controlling for gender and age. Though further research is needed, these specific results might shed more light on the benefits of using social media responsibly and exposure to healthy body image-related content. BACKGROUND: Eating disorders (EDs) are associated with a risk of premature death, as well as suicidal and self-injurious behavior. A low or high body mass index (BMI) and weight control behavior can also have an impact on self-injurious and suicidal behavior. While some studies show that interpersonal sensitivity is a risk factor for EDs, affective disorders, and self-injurious behavior, in-depth studies of these issues have not been done. AIM: The present study investigates how self-injurious and suicidal behavior relate to weight control behavior, BMI, and interpersonal sensitivity in adolescent girls from a clinical population with diagnosed EDs compared with adolescent girls from the general population. METHODS: The main group was comprised of 31 girls with a diagnosis of ED (as the main diagnosis or co-occurring with affective disorders, M=151.13 years), being treated in in the Eating Disorder Clinic of the Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health of Children and Adolescents named after G.E. Sukhareva. The comparison group consisted of 27 adolescent girls recruited from Proton Educational Center (M=15.511.09 years). The measures included a qualitative survey that yielded data on weight control behavior, and self-injurious behavior, a Blitz questionnaire probing the suicide risk (used only in the main group), and the Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure. Height and weight data were also recorded for BMI calculation. RESULTS: The qualitative analysis of weight control behavior yielded the following results: purging behavior, restrictive behavior, and corrective behavior. Participants in the main group used purging and restrictive behavior more often, whereas participants in the comparison group used strategies associated with a healthy lifestyle. The main group and participants who practiced purging and restrictive weight control in the overall sample had the smallest BMI. Self-injurious behavior was approximately evenly distributed both amongst the main and comparison groups. Self-cutting was the most prevalent type of self-injury. In the main group, self-injury was associated with a smaller BMI, while in the comparison group it was associated with an increase in the fear of rejection and overall interpersonal sensitivity. Based on the assessment of the suicide risk, six participants in the main group were deemed high-risk; they also displayed increased fear of rejection, dependence on the assessments of others, and overall interpersonal sensitivity. All girls in the suicide risk subgroup had non-suicidal self-injuries. CONCLUSION: The results of our study broaden our understanding of the risk factors of suicidal and self-injurious behavior in adolescent girls with EDs and reveal the characteristics of the type of weight control behavior used by this group in comparison with adolescent girls in the general population. Girls with EDs who were considered at the risk of committing suicide demonstrated high interpersonal sensitivity, which provides a rationale for further studying the general interpersonal mechanisms that underlie the pathogenesis of EDs, as well as that of self-injurious and suicidal behavior.

This study aimed to determine the effects of contextual schema therapy on the interpersonal sensitivity and coping self-efficacy of socially anxious female adolescents. The current study was conducted using a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a one-month follow-up phase. The statistical population includes all 15- to 16-year-old female pupils of the second secondary level in the city of Borazjan in the academic year 2021-2022. Students initially performed the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN), after which 40 students with higher social anxiety scores than the other subjects were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (20 individuals in each group). The participants then performed the Interpersonal Sensitivity Scale (ISS) and the Coping Self-Efficacy Scale (CSES) prior to the intervention. The experimental group then received eight 70-minute virtual training sessions, whereas the control group received no intervention. After the final session, the post-test was administered, followed one month later by the follow-up. Analysis of Variance with Repeated Measurement was used to analyze the data in SPSS version 25. The results demonstrated that contextual schema therapy is effective in reducing interpersonal sensitivity and enhancing coping self-efficacy, and that this effect is long-lasting (p < 0.01). According to the findings of the study, therapists and clinical specialists should consider contextual schema therapy as an effective treatment strategy for social anxiety disorder.

Additionally, the mediating role of resilience and the moderating role of the COVID-19 lockdown were investigated.Methods: A total of 5193 South Chinese college students (M=19.27, SD = 1.18) were included in the study. According to which campus they were living on, the subjects were categorized as members of a lockdown group or a nonlockdown group. They completed the interpersonal sensitivity subscales of the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). SPSS 26.0 statistical software was used to analyse the descriptive statistics, reliability, and correlation. Specifically, a moderated mediation model was analysed by multivariate logistic regression.Results: Interpersonal sensitivity was significantly associated with depression (r = 0.517, p < 0.01), which was mediated by resilience (β = 0.12, 95% CI = [0.10, 0.13]). Lockdown status was shown to have a moderating effect on the relationship between resilience and depression (β = 0.03, t = 2.71, p < 0.01).Conclusion: The high levels of interpersonal sensitivity displayed by South Chinese college students caused low resilience and then facilitated depression. The COVID-19 lockdown strengthened the effect of low resilience on depression. Abstract Background Millions of Muslims around the world fast during the holy month of Ramadan as a requirement of their religion Islam. Studies have reported varying effects of Ramadan fasting on mental health and various hormones. This study aimed to examine the effects of Ramadan fasting on mental health and plasma Leptin, Ghrelin, Neuropeptide Y (NPY), Growth Hormone levels in healthy individuals, and to evaluate the possible relationship between their hormone values and scale scores. Male healthcare professionals working at a university hospital without any psychiatric disease were included in the study. In the last week before Ramadan and in the first week after Ramadan, participants’ blood samples were taken at 8.00 in the morning after 12 h of fasting, taking into account the release pattern and pulsatile release of these hormones in order to measure plasma Leptin, Ghrelin, NPY and Growth Hormone levels. Simultaneously, a sociodemographic data form, the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) and the Scale of Dimensions of Interpersonal Relationships were applied to participants. Results The sample of the study included a total of 40 healthcare professionals. The term “empathic accuracy” has been applied to people’s ability to infer the contents of other people’s minds—that is, other people’s varying feelings and/or thoughts over the course of a social interaction. However, despite the ease of intuitively linking this skill to competence in helping professions such as counseling, the “empathic” prefix in its name may have contributed to overestimating its association with prosocial traits and behaviors. Accuracy in reading others’ thoughts and feelings, like many other skills, can be used toward prosocial—but also malevolent or morally neutral—ends. Prosocial intentions can direct attention towards other people’s thoughts and feelings, which may, in turn, increase accuracy in inferring those thoughts and feelings, but attention to others’ thoughts and feelings does not necessarily heighten prosocial intentions, let alone outcomes.

Background & Aims: : Adolescence is a period in which many healthy and unhealthy habits are formed and spread to the next periods of life, and since during this period, healththreatening behaviors increase, adolescents are at risk of many health-threatening behaviors including increased food intake, decreased physical activity, and increased developmental vulnerability. Therefore, a health-promoting lifestyle in teenagers is one of the best ways that they can maintain and improve their health. Health-promoting behaviors are part of daily life activities that create a set of individual happiness, values, and well-being. A healthy lifestyle is a balanced life in which a person consciously makes healthy choices in different areas. Health promotion includes behaviors during which a person should have proper nutrition, exercise regularly, avoid harmful behaviors, protect against accidents, detect signs of illness in time in the physical dimension, control emotions, feelings, and thoughts, and cope with It deals with stress and problems in the mental dimension, independence, adaptability and modification of interpersonal relationships in the social dimension. Therefore, the type of interpersonal relationships and, as a result, the emotional system that governs the family structure and interpersonal relationships, affects the mental health of a person, because this emotional system is the ability to separate and differentiate oneself from others on a cognitive and emotional level. The purpose of the present study was to present a structural model for predicting health-promoting lifestyle in teenage girls based on self-differentiation and interpersonal sensitivity with the mediating role of social support. Methods: The research method was descriptive and correlation type using structural equations. The statistical population in this research was made up of all high school female students in Yazd who were studying in theoretical fields (humanities, experimental sciences and mathematics) in the academic year of 1402-1401. 4 schools from district one and 4 schools from district two of Yazd city (8 schools in total) and from each school three classes from among mathematics, experimental and humanitarian fields (24 classes in total) were selected and in each class the questionnaire was randomly distributed to 15 students were given to complete. Finally, due to the non-response of a number of participants and the missing questionnaires, the analyzes were performed on 340 samples. The measurement tools in this research were Walker's health-promoting lifestyle (1987), perceived social support by Zammit et al. (1988), self-differentiation by Skowron and Smith (2003), and Boyce and Parker's (1989) interpersonal sensitivity. Data analysis was done using Pearson correlation and path analysis to investigate causal relationships between variables. Results: The results of the fit of the proposed model indicated a good fit of the model with the data. The direct coefficients of the model showed that self-differentiation (P<0.001, β=0.203) and perceived social support (P<0.001, β=0.259) have a significant positive effect on healthpromoting lifestyle, and interpersonal sensitivity on style Health-promoting life has a significant negative effect (P<0.001, β=-0.309). Also, with the inclusion of perceived social support variable into the model, the indirect effect of self-differentiation and interpersonal sensitivity on health-promoting lifestyle became -0.0814 and -0.0335, respectively. Conclusion: In explaining this finding, it can be stated that interpersonal sensitivity (emotional and social) is the skill of evaluating others' abilities, states, and traits through their non-verbal signs, and people who have these characteristics are disturbed in interpersonal relationships, regardless of real criticism or not. They are sensitive to accepting and changing their behavior to follow others' expectations, and as a result, they experience dysfunctional interpersonal relationships to a greater extent. Interpersonal sensitivity can cause individual isolation and increase the feeling of social loneliness because people with high interpersonal sensitivity suffer more from pessimism, mistrust, and a hostile view of the world, and as a result, experience social isolation and reduced benefits from social support. On the other hand, they are radically changing their behavior to suit others to minimize the risk of criticism and rejection. Therefore, teenagers in stressful situations may use it as a tool to reduce their mental pressure, which leads to a decrease in their desirable lifestyle. As a result, if teenagers have characteristics that can receive the necessary social support, this support will make them reduce the number of weaknesses caused by separation anxiety and fragile self-esteem and adjust their interpersonal relationships according to their needs. These relationships further satisfy the need for approval and minimize the fear of rejection and criticism, and during a cycle, this model can strengthen the possibility of promoting a desirable lifestyle. In general, people with differentiation and interpersonal sensitivity problems have difficulty in relating to others and maintaining intimate relationships and tend to cut off communication with others, as a result, they probably receive less social support from others. On the other hand, social support can improve problems related to Psychological disorders, and problems play a moderating role. As a result, a person who has high social support is not easily involved in the process of social comparison in the process of non-differentiation, interpersonal sensitivity, or sensitivity to rejection, and it seems that social support can play a mediating role in the relationship between self-differentiation and interpersonal sensitivity with health-related lifestyle.Therefore, adolescents with differentiation and interpersonal sensitivity problems have difficulty in maintaining intimate relationships with others and tend to cut off communication with others, as a result of which they receive less social support from others and the lack of social support causes maladaptive behaviors and Health decreases in these teenagers. BACKGROUND: Deliberate self-harm includes direct and indirect behaviors that cause harm to the body. Various manifestations of such behavior (e.g., non-suicidal self-injuries) are prevalent in adolescent and youth populations, and they often serve as precursors of subsequent suicidal behavior. The interpersonal dynamics that lead to self-harm behavior remain understudied. Interpersonal sensitivity, defined as an anticipation of criticism and fear of rejection in ones relationships with other people, may become one such factor. AIM: The present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity, psychopathological symptoms, and types of self-harm. METHODS: The sample (n=804, 1735 years, M=23.34.6 years) was recruited in online communities. A survey developed by the authors was used to measure the types of self-harm. Other measures included the Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure and Symptom Checklist-90-R. RESULTS: It was discovered that superficial self-injuries could be related to more severe types of self-harm, destructive for the body on the whole (e.g., risk-taking, deprivation, fasting, substance abuse). Fear of rejection and psychopathological symptoms emerged as predictors of both superficial self-injuries and self-destructive behavior. Although younger respondents (1719 years old) were more likely to inflict on themselves superficial self-injuries, those who scored high on fear of rejection were more likely to report more severe self-destructive behavior. Acute psychological distress elevated this risk for both younger and older participants (2735 years old). CONCLUSIONS: The results of the study point at the important role the dynamics of interpersonal relationships plays in perpetuating self-harm.

The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between parenting styles and social anxiety signs in Tehran College students, with the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity and the moderating role of suppression. As for the fundamental goal and data collection, the present study was a correlational and cross-sectional study. The participants of this study were the students of university of Tehran who were studying in the academic year 2021. The participants were 226 college students (137 females and 89 males) selected through an available sample. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, questionnaires were distributed on online platforms. In this study, we used the questionnaires of Liebowitz social anxiety scale (LSAS), Buri parenting styles scale (PAQ), Boyce and Parker interpersonal sensitivity scale (IPSM), and Gross emotional regulation scale (ERQ). Pearson’s correlation coefficient and mediator-moderator effect analytical statistical model were used and all statistical procedures were performed using SPSS 21 and R.4.1.1. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles and signs of social anxiety (P >0/01, r=0/21). This study also showed that parenting style influences social anxiety through interpersonal sensitivity (P>0/05). Aim and Background: Comparing mental health between healthy and disabled students and examining the differences between the two groups can lead to special and appropriate attention to the relevant social and educational needs of them. Therefore, this study was performed to compare interpersonal sensitivity and emotional balance in students with physical disabilities and normal students. Methods and Materials: This causal-comparative study was conducted in eight elected elementary schools (four normal and four exceptional schools) in 2018. The samples consisted of 80 students (40 students with disabilities and 40 their normally peers), which were selected by simple random sampling. To collect data, Boyce & Parker’s Interpersonal Sensitivity and Brad Burn’s Emotional Balance Questionnaire were used. Whilst child abuse experiences can often be found among prisoners, whether they would co-exist with emotional suppression to influence interpersonal sensitivity and psychiatric co-morbidity is unknown. 428 prisoners from three prisons in Anhui and Guangdong, China, were recruited from January to March 2020. They completed questionnaires measuring child abuse experiences, emotional suppression, interpersonal sensitivity and psychiatric co-morbidity. Latent profile analysis supported a three-profile solution: Profile one prisoners had the highest levels of child abuse with a tendency not to suppress distressing emotions (a high-abuse group). Profile two had the lowest levels of child abuse with a tendency to suppress emotions (a low-abuse group 1). Profile three prisoners were similar to Profile two except that the former experienced significantly higher physical and emotional abuse levels than did profile two (a low-abuse group 2). Profile one showed significantly higher levels of fragile inner self and depression than the other two profiles. They also reported significantly higher levels of interpersonal sensitivity and co-morbid psychiatric symptoms, except social dysfunction, than profile two individuals. Profile three prisoners reported significantly higher levels of most interpersonal sensitivity and co-morbid psychiatric symptoms than profile two individuals. Since the 2000s, Japanese clinicians have reported New Types of Depressive syndromes (NTD), which have different features from the traditional form of depression namely melancholic depression. A previous study suggests that the Interpersonal Sensitivity / Privileged Self are personality traits related to NTD, and these traits influence depression, via interpersonal stressors. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between Interpersonal Sensitivity / Privileged Self and job stressors. This study employed a longitudinal method, with a sample of 439 employees as participants. Background: Millions of Muslims around the world fast during the holy month of Ramadan as a requirement of their religion Islam. Studies have reported varying effects of Ramadan fasting on mental health and various hormones. This study aimed to examine the effects of Ramadan fasting on mental health and plasma Leptin, Ghrelin, Neuropeptide Y (NPY), Growth Hormone levels in healthy individuals, and to evaluate the possible relationship between their hormone values and scale scores. Male healthcare professionals working at a university hospital without any psychiatric disease were included in the study. In the last week before Ramadan and in the first week after Ramadan, participants' blood samples were taken at 8.00 in the morning after 12 h of fasting, taking into account the release pattern and pulsatile release of these hormones in order to measure plasma Leptin, Ghrelin, NPY and Growth Hormone levels. Simultaneously, a sociodemographic data form, the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) and the Scale of Dimensions of Interpersonal Relationships were applied to participants. Results: The sample of the study included a total of 40 healthcare professionals. Participants' BSI interpersonal sensitivity and phobic anxiety subscales scores and their general severity and positive symptom distress index scores decreased significantly after Ramadan compared to those measured before Ramadan. (p < 0.001, p = 0.020, p = 0.042, p = 0.006 respectively). Also participants' ghrelin levels increased significantly after Ramadan compared to those measured before Ramadan (p < 0.001). Conclusions: The effects of Ramadan fasting on mental health may be mediated by some psychoneuroendocrine mechanisms. In order to elucidate these mechanisms that mediate the effect of Ramadan fasting on mental health, there is a need for better-structured studies with larger samples and more variables. Problematic internet use (PIU) is a concerning issue worldwide, and a considerable body of knowledge has accrued from research on the predictors of PIU; however, few studies have investigated the dynamic process by which the social environment impacts individuals' PIU. Integrating a person–environment interactionist perspective with self-determination theory, we investigate how relational mobility impacts PIU by proposing a "permeating" mechanism of social interactions (i.e., interpersonal sensitivity) and basic psychological needs (i.e., relatedness satisfaction). In Study 1, using a large data set from the Chinese General Social Survey (N = 2,192), we found that relational mobility was negatively related to PIU. In Study 2, using a new sample (N = 392), we found that relational mobility alleviated PIU through interpersonal sensitivity. In Study 3, using a cross-lagged design and two-wave data (N = 298), we confirmed the chain-mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity and relatedness satisfaction in the relationship between relational mobility and PIU. BackgroundThis study aimed to examine depressive symptoms associated with interpersonal sensitivity, sleep quality, and psychological capital among postgraduate students during static campus management after the COVID-19 pandemic in China.MethodsResearch data were obtained during static campus management (10–19 April 2022) after the reappearance of COVID-19 in cities in eastern China. We collected data through an online questionnaire, and the anonymous self-reported questionnaire included the Patient Health Questionnaire, the interpersonal sensitivity subscale of Symptom Checklist-90, the Psychological Capital Questionnaire, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. analysis of variance was performed using t-test and ANOVA. The PROCESS macro was used to determine the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and depression, together with the independent and serial mediating role of psychological capital and sleep quality.ResultsA total of 2,554 postgraduate students were included in this study. The prevalence of mild, moderate, and severe depressive symptoms was 30.97, 6.58, and 1.45%, respectively. Interpersonal sensitivity was significantly associated with depressive symptoms (direct effect = 0.183, p < 0.001). Between interpersonal sensitivity and depressive symptoms, psychological capital and sleep quality played a single mediating role (indirect effect = 0.136 and 0.100, p < 0.001, respectively) and a chain mediating role together (indirect effect = 0.066, p < 0.001).ConclusionInterpersonal sensitivity has a significant influence on depression among Chinese graduate students. Psychological capital and sleep quality may not only independently mediate the relationship between interpersonal sensitivity and depression, but also co-play a chain-mediating role in the pathway from interpersonal sensitivity to depression. Positive psychological interventions and sleep guidance may be beneficial in alleviating depressive symptoms.

With the excessive smartphone use in the workplace, supervisor phubbing has drawn broad concerns in managerial and academic fields. Though the neglect is unintentional, this behavior can generate counterproductive working behaviors. The basic assumptions of this study are that supervisor phubbing can impact employee psychological withdrawal behavior directly and indirectly via work alienation. To provide empirical evidence for the assumptions, the two-wave online survey of 302 Chinese employees without any supervisory functions was conducted on the Questionnaire Star platform. Based on the stressor-emotion model, work alienation is proved to be the psychological path in the positive relationship between supervisor phubbing and employee psychological withdrawal behavior. Different from the current studies exploring the impact mechanism of phubbing behavior on psychological withdrawal behavior between parents and children, couples, or friends, we put this mechanism into the workplace and focus on subordinate–superior relationships. In addition, the positive indirect effects are enhanced when employees have higher interpersonal sensitivity. In practice, these findings suggest that organizations should normalize the smart devices use in the workplace, and supervisors should balance their working roles with other roles. In addition, organizations should strengthen training on adjusting to negative emotions and interpersonal sensitivity control at work. Although two rounds of the time-lagged data were collected in a one-month interval, the limitations of cross-section data still exist, so the conclusions cannot establish causality. Hence, future research may conduct experimental or longitudinal research designs to make the conclusion more rigorous.

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) has been frequently reported by subjects with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). However, interestingly, the overlap between social anxiety and autistic traits may sometimes impede ASD diagnosis in subjects without intellectual or language impairment. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the presence and correlates of social phobic features among subjects with ASD, with a specific focus on evaluating which social anxiety symptoms may be statistically predictive of an ASD diagnosis. With this purpose, 48 subjects with ASD and 48 gender- and age- matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited and assessed with the SHY-SV and the AdAS Spectrum questionnaires. Results highlighted higher scores in all SHY-SV Spectrum domains and total scores for the ASD group. Moreover, AdAS Spectrum scores were significantly correlated with all SHY-SV domain and total scores. A logistic regression analysis highlighted the SHY-SV Interpersonal sensitivity and Substance Abuse domains scores as significant positive predictors of an ASD diagnosis. These results confirm the link between ASD and SAD. Because of this association, particular attention should be paid to subjects with high interpersonal sensitivity traits and substance abuse problems.

Peer popularity constitutes a pivotal developmental task to adolescents' current and future adaptation. This study identified distinct adolescent popularity profiles and explored their links with excessive Internet usage and interpersonal sensitivity. The sample included 2090 students attending Greek high schools (Mage = 16.16, SD = 0.91). Their popularity was measured via self-report and peer sociometric means. They also responded to the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and the Interpersonal Sensitivity subscale of the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R). A sequence of latent profile analysis, ANOVAs and linear regression models were performed. Three distinct popularity profiles were revealed: the "Average Confident" (68.4%), the "Socially Vulnerable" (26.8%), and the "Insecure Bi-Strategic" (4.8%). These profiles did not significantly vary regarding their Internet usage and interpersonal sensitivity behaviours. Interestingly, lower self-perceived popularity predicted higher interpersonal sensitivity, whereas higher actual popularity predicted excessive Internet use.
