Holistic competence involves two distinct constructs: procedural competencies and metacompetencies A framework developed by Tufford and colleagues (2017), suggests four domains of metacompetence: skills in action, deepened perspectives on diversity, managing affective intensity in the moment, and openness to learning. This exploratory evaluation study was guided by the research question, in what ways does Illinois child welfare simulation training address the four domains of metacompetence? Findings indicted that relevant knowledge and skill development for each domain are supported in the training. The article deals with topical issues of using knowledge of forensic medicine during an investigation of cruel treatment of prisoners of war and the civilian population. Emphasis is placed on the exceptional importance of using such special knowledge during the investigation of the investigated war crimes in connection with the peculiarities of the way they were committed, which is often associated with causing bodily harm and the onset of death of the victims. It was established that conducting a forensic medical examination belongs to the list of urgent investigative (search) actions, the primary purpose of which is the timely collection and preservation of evidence during the documentation of such war crimes. The purpose and directions of usng of forensic medical knowledge during documentation and investigation of investigated crimes, which, in addition to conducting forensic medical examinations, include the involvement of forensic doctors in conducting investigative (search) actions, including for the purpose of providing assistance during the extraction of biological samples for further expert research. The types of forensic examinations that can be prescribed in such proceedings are clarified, and an approximate list of issues that are resolved during expert research within each of the specified types is provided. Attention is focused on complications that arise during the use of forensic medicine knowledge, in particular under the influence of special conditions of wartime. In addition to security risks, the following are recognized as: deficiencies in the regulatory and legal regulation of forensic medical activity, improper organization of the structure of forensic medical institutions, deficiencies in material and technical and personnel support, as well as a low level of knowledge about the capabilities and potential of forensic examinations among employees of investigative bodies. Body disposal methods complicate homicide investigations, obscuring links between both demographic factors and crime scene behaviors. This study is a comprehensive empirical assessment of offender and victim demographics, alongside crime scene behaviors, in relation to body disposal methods in homicides. This was done through the examination of 326 homicide cases involving 403 offenders and 334 victims through regression analyses. Key findings revealed significant associations between body disposal methods and factors such as victim gender, substance use by victims and offenders, and offenders’ prior sexual offense records. Additionally, the cause of death, location, and cleaning or destruction of evidence were predictive of disposal methods taking place. Notably, the presence of sexual elements appeared to influence only a small number of factors, being victim gender and crime scene cleaning. These results suggest enhanced investigative training on recognizing crime scene and victim characteristics may aid in refining investigative approaches and hypotheses. The findings also suggest that distinguishing between sexual and non-sexual homicides may not be crucial, allowing for more streamlined investigations and better resource allocation. This research advocates for interdisciplinary collaboration to improve investigative accuracy, highlighting the pivotal role of understanding the interconnectedness of behaviors in understanding body disposal. Objectives: This study aims to investigate children's experiences regarding their involvement in the justice system and explore the different facets of their participation, the mechanisms and practices applied, and criticisms and improvements to the justice system. Materials and Methods: A systematic review was conducted through consultation with EBSCO, Web of Science, Pubmed, and PsycArticles. Five articles were included to understand the perspectives of professionals, children, and young people regarding their participation in the justice system. Results: The children and young people involved in the justice system have negative experiences with its professionals, who doubt their ability to understand, devaluing their opinions. The children give up expressing their experiences, reducing participation and creating barriers with professionals. The children say that greater encouragement from judges reduces stress and makes the process more comfortable, increasing their participation. The professionals reveal that the mechanisms used in the system reinforced this lack of participation, despite its initial objective of integrating and including children and young people in the justice system. In general, the child's legal guardians are better informed about their rights and procedures and have a greater opportunity to give their opinions than children and young people. Conclusions: Despite the advancement and improvement in procedures and mechanisms used to ensure children's participation, they still have negative experiences about the system itself and the professionals, which reduces their participation. Mountage is a mechanism that allows mature silkworms to spin cocoons on a platform. At the field, there are several sorts of mountages, some of which are more popular. Farmers construct such mountages out of a variety of locally accessible materials. Although there are various types of mountages available, each has its own set of drawbacks. In this study we use certain types of mountages i.e. Rotatary Collapsible mountages, Mulberry twigs mountages, Egg tray mountages, Husk rice mountages and Pinus mountages. Single cocoon weight was recorded highest in the Paddy Husk Mountages than other mountages. Highest Avg. Filament length is observed in Paddy Husk mountage (93.33) and the lowest Avg. Filament Length are observed in Rotatary Collapsible Mountage. The Non Breakable Avg. Filament Length in our study observes that the highest in Pinus Mountage (78.66) and lowest in Rotatary Collapsible Mountage (71.33). The Avg. Filament Denier highest observed in Rotatary Collapsible Mountage (2.61) and lowest Pinus Mountage.(2.33) In conclusion, the Paddy Husk mountage employed in this study is the best for silkworm rearing, because it is easily and locally available in everywhere in the villages as well as town. The cost of the Paddy Husk was very low and quality of cocoon formed by Paddy Husk mountage is very good cocoon and the post cocoon parameters. The result of the present study reveals that, the Paddy Husk mountage is the better when compared to the other mountages for various parameters such as cocoon and the post cocoon parameters. This clinical review focuses on the most common presentations of lower gastrointestinal (GI) signs and symptoms, exploring their prevalence, aetiology, clinical presentation, and the importance of thorough history-taking and examination. In addition, it discusses the investigations and management plans. This paper builds upon existing studies that focused on the presentations of upper GI signs, symptoms and management plans. The Dirk Smeesters case is one of the most well-documented and widely publicized cases of research misconduct to date. We investigate, using a case study approach, which of Smeesters' articles were found to be unreliable and recommended for retraction, which were retracted, and which were not. We also investigate by whom, when, and how these fraudulent articles were retracted. We found that only six retraction notices exist for the seven Smeesters' fraudulent articles that were recommended for retraction. For four of the six retraction notices, there were no explicit markers that clearly indicated who wrote them (e.g., the editor and/or the publisher). Smeesters' flawed articles were retracted in 97.6 days on average by the retracting journals. Retraction practices in these elite marketing and social psychology journals ranged from a seeming failure to retract (i.e., no record of a retraction notice) to a fair (i.e., informative and transparent) retraction. We also emphasize the ramifications of failing to retract an article whose findings are based on fabricated data. We conclude by listing the lessons learned from the Smeesters case. Context: Eutrophication pollution has emerged as a significant ecological concern on a global scale, with the quality of drinking water closely intertwined with the sustainability and advancement of rural communities. Aims: The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive examination of pollution sources within the Jinkengling Reservoir, assess the extent of eutrophication pollution, and offer insights for the efficient management and regulation of the reservoir. Methods: The investigation of exogenous pollution sources entailed an assessment of the pollution load, whereas the investigation of endogenous pollution sources centred on sediment testing and the analysis of sediment accumulation within the reservoir. Key results: The examination of exogenous pollution sources in the reservoir indicated that nitrogen and phosphorus predominantly emanated from pollution resulting from municipal solid waste, fertiliser, and livestock and poultry farming. The analysis of endogenous pollution sources illustrated that sediment functions as a significant contributor of nutrient substances in the water. Conclusions: The examination of exogenous pollution sources indicates the necessity for thorough control measures, whereas the study of endogenous pollution sources underscores the significance of sediment dredging in the reservoir. Implications: This study offers insights to improve the ecological environment of local water bodies, and also has universal and reference significance for solving the global eutrophication pollution problem. Eutrophication pollution has become an important ecological problem in the world. This paper mainly analyses the current water quality of a reservoir, and on this basis, conducts an in-depth investigation and calculation of the reservoir pollution sources, evaluates the current degree of eutrophication pollution of the reservoir, and provides reference for the effective management and management of the subsequent reservoir. The police are the first stakeholders within the criminal justice system responding to the offence of rape. Some specific laws have been enacted in India with the aim of incorporating a victim-friendly approach during the stages of reporting and investigation of rape cases by the police. This paper presents the results from the responses of the police from a cross-sectional study conducted in the states of Odisha (OD), Jharkhand (JH), and West Bengal (WB) in eastern India to see their approaches to the implementation of the victim-friendly provisions of the law at such specific stages. It presents the police perceptions on compliance with laws pertaining to reporting, registration and investigation of rape cases in the three selected states and the corresponding state-wise differences in police attitudes. On Friday June 16, 2023 at 4:00 pm, Niagara Region Public Health & Emergency Services (NRPH&ES) received notification of a rabies positive result for a cat that they had submitted for rabies testing earlier that week. The investigation revealed that it was a domestic cat from an urban area in St. Catharines that had been around numerous people and other animals during its infectious period. As part of the follow-up, NRPH&ES contacted all potential exposures, coordinated vaccination for those that required it and collaborated with other agencies to ensure the safety of all those involved. In addition, NRPH&ES navigated working with vaccine hesitant clients who were uncooperative in providing details pertaining to people who may have been in contact with the rabid cat, other animals living in the household, and ultimately reluctant to receive rabies post exposure prophylaxis (rPEP). Through innovation, unconventional methods and deviation from standard practice, NRPH&ES was able to build a trusting relationship with all clients, gather the information they required to conduct a fulsome investigation, and vaccinate and confine the other animal exposed to the rabid cat. Traffic accidents are one of the serious problems that are often faced in the context of law enforcement, especially in countries with high traffic density such as Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate how discretionary decisions taken by police investigators can affect the case settlement process, taking into account aspects of justice and public interest. The study utilized policy documents as the primary data source, focusing on analyzing these documents through a systematic document analysis and content analysis approach. The document analysis technique will help in organizing and summarizing these documents to identify relevant information and protocols regarding the application of discretion. The content analysis will then be employed to examine the specifics of how discretion is framed and regulated within these policies, revealing the underlying principles and standards guiding police decision-making in traffic accident cases. This research would contribute to refining policies and practices related to police discretion, ensuring they effectively balance flexibility with adherence to legal and ethical standards. The tasks of law enforcement agencies include maintaining law and order, protecting citizens, preventing, detecting and investigating crimes. One of the most important aspects of successful police work is the ability of the police to obtain timely, reliable and effective intelligence information related to the investigation of an offense. OSINT can provide law enforcement and security agencies with a critical opportunity to supplement and enhance their intelligence capabilities, as the ability to quickly collect and accurately process and analyze open source data can be a significant aid to investigations, as well as used for strategic planning of crime fighting at the national level. OSINT, in addition to criminal proceedings, provides an invaluable way to access and collect information from open sources, location data, and combines it with real-time analytical capabilities. Thus, targeted and legitimate monitoring, analysis and visualization of open source data should be considered a mandatory requirement of any national security strategy. In the context of using OSINT, increasing its potential and effectiveness, it is important to study foreign experience, in particular, the developed UK strategy - CONTEST, which is the basis for measures to prevent terrorism, prosecute terrorists and protect against terrorism in general. The results and achievements of effective and innovative solutions by security and law enforcement agencies are also considered in the context of cooperation with private and public partners, including academia. Using the successful experience of the CENTRIC OSINT Hub, it is noted that academia and law enforcement agencies can cooperate in the field of OSINT in order to translate research into reality for the safety of citizens. The article examines the correlation between the concepts of detection and investigation of criminal offenses which are widely used in legislation and theory of criminal procedure, operational and investigative activities, and forensics. The author draws attention to the fact that the current CPC of Ukraine introduces the concepts of investigation and trial instead of detecting crimes to determine the tasks of criminal proceedings. The article provides information about the authors who have devoted their research to the analysis of the concepts of detection and investigation of criminal offences. It is noted that in some cases, discussions among scholars arise due to ambiguous understanding and interpretation of the essence and content of these concepts. The purpose of the study is to analyse the provisions of current legislation which regulate the issues of combating crime and the use of the concepts of detection and investigation of criminal offences, as well as the works of scholars who have analysed these issues and substantiated their personal vision of their solution. The analysis of the publications of scientists who tried to formulate the definition of the concepts of detection and investigation of crimes, reveal the essence and show their importance for the theory and practice of law enforcement during the evaluation of the effectiveness of their work in combating crime was carried out. It is proved that the concept of criminal offences detection has the right to be used in rule-making and theoretical developments. To reduce contradictions, it should be considered in three senses: as a task of criminal proceedings; as a special type of law enforcement activity aimed at detecting criminal offences and their perpetrators and proving the circumstances which are the subject of proof for making a correct court decision; and as a result of such activity. The author proposes to define the moment when it is appropriate to consider a criminal offence to be solved. The conclusions contain proposals regarding the practicality of using the phrase «detection of criminal offences», which covers misdemeanours and crimes when formulating the tasks of criminal proceedings and stating in the article on clarification of terms that detection of crimes as an activity includes detection of signs of a criminal offence and its investigation. The article defines the concept of criminalistic characteristics of illegal employment in fish, game or other water extractive fishing and outlines its main structural elements. The opinions of the leading criminologists regarding the essence of the criminological characteristics are highlighted, and a proper concept was formed based on them. In the course of the study, it was determined that the forensic characterization of illegal employment in fish, game or other water extractive fishing should be understood as an organized collection of forensic information on significant typical features that distinguish the criminal offense provided for in Art. 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine from other criminal offenses and determine the system of operative and investigative measures and procedural actions aimed at his detection and the fulfillment of the tasks of criminal proceedings provided for in Art. 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine during the investigation. All elements of forensic characteristics are interdependent, the detection of internal connections allows, knowing one element of the criminal offense system, to gain knowledge about some other elements and ultimately to uncover a criminal offense. The content of the forensic characterization should include the features of the methods and traces of the relevant types of criminal offenses, the circumstances characterizing the participants in criminal illegal acts and their illegal connections, the objective side, time, place, conditions of committing criminal offenses, the object of the offense and relationships connection of the listed factors. That is why, the elemental-component structure of the criminalistic characterization of the criminalistic characterization of illegal employment in fish, game or other aquatic extractive industry, as a data system based on the practice of law enforcement agencies and forensic research, includes: 1) the subject of criminal encroachment; 2) the setting of the crime and the trail picture; 3) ways of committing; 4) information about persons who have committed a criminal offense (identity of the offender). Context: A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. Department of Community Medicine was tasked with SARS-CoV2-IgG antibody serosurvey by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, sampling 5000 people spread over an area of 181 sq. km. There were no real-time mapping apps available for field surveys. Aims: Our aim was to develop an easy-to-use GIS system with a shallow learning curve and real-time mapping for field surveys which could be easily deployed. Materials and Methods: The program was developed using PHP hosted on a virtual private server and using Google Maps Application Programming Interface (API). The field investigator shares location through telegram to a bot which parses message, decodes geo-coordinates, team information, and time stamp. The program then passes the information for further processing, viewing, or analyzing. The map is generated using Google Maps API at user request. The teams are segregated using color coding. Results: The data can be accessed at http://test.techlabel.in/. Over 638 households from which samples were taken were plotted by the data from ten teams over ten days. Real-time feedbacks were possible as the study progressed. Households plotted on the maps were verified by the respective field investigators after the study had completed and showed good accuracy. Conclusion: The introduction of GIS software such as ours could bring about a positive impact on small- and medium-scale field researches. The quality and internal validity of small-scale field researches could certainly be improved by using GIS programs.

The recurrence of specific deteriorating phenomena in blue paints used by Edvard Munch, observed more frequently from artworks from 1907 and onwards, calls for an analytical investigation of these paints. Ten commercial Ultramarine blue oil paint tubes from Munch’s studio materials were studied, employing a multi-analytical approach comprising ATR-FTIR, µ-Raman, GC-MS, and SEM-EDS techniques. This study aims to ascertain the composition of these industrially produced blue oil paints and shed more light on the potential implications for darkening and other deterioration phenomena observed in Munch’s artworks. The analyzed samples exhibited complex mixtures, characterized by significant presences of additives such as non-drying or partially drying oils, metal soaps, and preservatives. Moreover, extenders including clay minerals and white and other blue pigments were identified. Some compositions diverged from those indicated on the labels of the tubes. This study presents hypotheses regarding the causes of deterioration mechanisms observed in Ultramarine blue paints and outlines future perspectives and implications of darkening and other surface degradation phenomena in paintings from MUNCH’s collection towards best conservation and display practices.

Deforestation is a phenomenon that needs to be addressed seriously to preserve the environment. One of the causes of deforestation is illegal logging activities in forest areas. The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of illegal logging, analyze the law enforcement process against illegal logging perpetrators and analyse obstacles in the implementation of law enforcement against illegal logging in Tojo Una-Una Regency. The research method uses empirical juridical research by using a conceptual approach and a case approach. This research concludes that the investigation of the crime of illegal logging in the Tojo Una-Una Regency area is carried out by Investigators at the Tojo Una-Una Police Station and Civil Servant Investigators of the Sulawesi Regional Environmental and Forestry Law Enforcement and Security Centre and obstacles in the implementation of law enforcement come from technical obstacles such as the difficulty of the terrain that must be traversed to reach the forest area, lack of facilities and infrastructure and lack of personnel at Tojo Una-Una Police Station and investigators of the Sulawesi Regional Environmental and Forestry Law Enforcement and Security Centre to carry out law enforcement duties against illegal logging crimes, as well as obstacles originating from the rule of law or legal substance, especially after the enactment of the Job Creation law.

Abstract Aims This investigation aims to elucidate the treatment status of advanced HR+/HER2- breast cancer patients in Hunan Province of Central Southern China from November 2021 to December 2022. Methods Data from 301 patients with advanced HR+/HER2- breast cancer were collected from the breast cancer investigation project in Hunan under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncolfogy (CSCO). The data included the clinical characteristics of patients and the status of first-line and second-line rescue treatment. Results First-line chemotherapy and endocrine therapy for mBC accounted for 40% (121/301) and 60% (180/301) of treatments, respectively. AI (21%), AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (28%), and fulvestrant (24%) or fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (18%) were the most common first-line endocrine therapies. Taxane-based chemotherapy was the most common first-line chemotherapy (59%). Second-line chemotherapy and endocrine therapy for mBC accounted for 43% (72/166) and 57% (94/166) of treatments, respectively. Fulvestrant (23%) or fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (29%) were the most common second-line endocrine therapies. The prevalences of AI and AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor decreased to 19% and 11%, respectively. T (taxane)-based chemotherapy was still the most common chemotherapy regimen (46%). Third-line chemotherapy was more prevalent than endocrine therapy (57% vs. 41%). T (taxane)-based chemotherapy was still the most common chemotherapy regimen (46%). Fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor was the most common endocrine therapy (33%). AI, AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor, and fulvestrant accounted for 21%, 12% and 18% of third-line endocrine therapies, respectively. Conclusions Compared to chemotherapy, endocrine therapy was a more favorable choice for first-line and second-line treatment for HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer patients in Hunan Province.

Abstract Background Ethnic inequalities in acute health acute care are not well researched. We examined how attendee ethnicity influenced outcomes of emergency care in unselected patients presenting with a gastrointestinal (GI) disorder. Methods A descriptive, retrospective cohort analysis of anonymised patient level data for University Hospitals of Leicester emergency department attendees, from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2021, receiving a diagnosis of a GI disorder was performed. The primary exposure of interest was self-reported ethnicity, and the two outcomes studied were admission to hospital and whether patients underwent clinical investigations. Confounding variables including sex and age, deprivation index and illness acuity were adjusted for in the analysis. Chi-squared and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used to examine ethnic differences across outcome measures and covariates. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine associations between ethnicity and outcome measures. Results Of 34,337 individuals, median age 43 years, identified as attending the ED with a GI disorder, 68.6% were White. Minority ethnic patients were significantly younger than White patients. Multiple emergency department attendance rates were similar for all ethnicities (overall 18.3%). White patients had the highest median number of investigations (6, IQR 3–7), whereas those from mixed ethnic groups had the lowest (2, IQR 0–6). After adjustment for age, sex, year of attendance, index of multiple deprivation and illness acuity, all ethnic minority groups remained significantly less likely to be investigated for their presenting illness compared to White patients (Asian: aOR 0.80, 95% CI 0.74–0.87; Black: 0.67, 95% CI 0.58–0.79; mixed: 0.71, 95% CI 0.59–0.86; other: 0.79, 95% CI 0.67–0.93; p

AIM:To investigate the effect of glaucoma knowledge education among community residents and knowledge source, and to provide reference for improving the awareness rate of glaucoma knowledge among residents.METHODS: From July 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023, a total of 752 residents live in two communities of Jinhua city were randomly selected to investigate the source of glaucoma prevention and treatment knowledge. In addition, comprehensive health education intervention lasted for 3 mo, awareness rate of core knowledge of glaucoma was investigated before and after the intervention, and the effect of the intervention was evaluated.RESULTS: The source of glaucoma related knowledge for radio and television was 33.4%; the mobile network was 40.9%; the health education was 21.5%. The overall awareness rate of glaucoma related knowledge before education intervention was 32.7%; the overall awareness rate after intervention was 48.4%, and the comparison before and after intervention was statistically significant(χ2=37.130, P

The article is devoted to consideration of some aspects of investigation of fraud in the sphere of electronic payments. The author analyses the peculiarities of conducting various types of examination in criminal proceedings of this category. It is noted that inspection is the primary investigative (detective) action in the vast majority of criminal proceedings, since it solves the task of the initial stage of investigation to collect material evidentiary information of a criminal offence. In the course of investigation of fraud in the field of electronic payments, this procedural action does not lose its importance, since in many cases certain material traces remains at the place of commission of the unlawful act and in the electronic computing equipment used to commit it. It is also emphasised that the mandatory investigative (detective) actions at the initial stage of investigation of fraud in the field of electronic payments are inspection of the scene and inspection of electronic computing equipment. Based on the study of criminal proceedings, the article indicates that the objects to be examined during the inspection of the scene include the premises where the fraudulent acts were committed, other places where fraudulent acts were committed, the fraudster's smartphone, and paper data carriers. It is determined that the main points in the inspection of electronic computing equipment are to find out passwords and access codes, as well as to establish specific information on the machine media. It is found that the involvement of IT specialists in the inspection of electronic computing equipment is a mandatory measure in the course of procedural actions.

The relevance of the research topic is due to the need to improve the legal regulation of the activities of military personnel in the context of the modern political, social and military situation, which requires careful consideration of issues related to their compliance with the law and the preservation of law and order. The main purpose of the study is to analyze and clarify the criteria for the legal qualification of exceeding the power or official authority of a military official on subjective grounds. Within the framework of this analysis, subjective signs of exceeding power or official authority are considered, in particular, awareness of the socially dangerous nature of the committed actions, the compliance of these actions with regulatory and legal acts, the consequences of violations and their connection with the official position. The study also considers the possibility of the emergence of an ideal set of criminal composition in case of committing several offenses in one act. The obtained conclusions will contribute to clarifying the qualification of offenses and understanding the ratio of illegal actions of a military official and their consequences. The methodological basis of the research is based on the analysis of normative legal acts, law enforcement and jurisprudential analysis, as well as on the analysis of judicial practice. The use of these methods allows for a detailed analysis of issues related to the legal qualification of the criminal offense provided for in Art. 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The results of the study can be useful for legislators, law enforcement agencies, military groups and judicial authorities. They will help to improve the legal regulation of the activities of military officials, ensuring the preservation of law and order and legality in this area of legal relations. The practical significance of this study also lies in the correct application of the norms of criminal legislation during the investigation of the abuse of power or official authority by a military official. In the conclusions, it is proposed to supplement Art. 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Liability for the illicit production and trafficking of pornographic materials or objects, production and trafficking of materials or objects with pornographic images of minors, and the use of a minor for the production of pornographic materials or objects is provided for in Articles 242, 242.1, 242.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A prerequisite for the effective investigation of such crimes is the classification of seized material as pornographic, for which, in most cases, specialized knowledge is used. Purpose: to analyze the problems of determining the area of specialized knowledge required in the investigation of crimes under Articles 242, 242.1, 242.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In the result of the study, the article identifies the main types of specialized knowledge used in deciding whether to classify materials or objects as pornographic. The article formulates the subject, object and tasks of forensic examination of pornographic materials. It is shown that the examination of pornographic materials and examinations that establish the impact of such materials on society and the individual have different research objects.

Literature and journalism are two field of study that has been a never-ending discussion throughout the history. The two fields, regardless of being considered as separate entity, has its association in the course. This paper dwells into the two fields together, that is, on literary journalism and how literary journalism examines the blurring of boundaries between narrative writing and factual reporting through comparison of select works of narrative nonfiction. The text analysed is a novelistic piece, “The Yoga Store Murder” (2013) by Dan Morse. The study confronts the reluctance to acknowledge this form of reportage as authentic and reliable because its literariness is misconstrued as compromising the objectivity of the piece. The authors also examine how literary journalism fits within the rubric of both literature and journalism. The study addresses the following research questions: where do fact and fiction meet in literary journalistic narratives? how do we navigate questions of authenticity, reliability and journalistic integrity in narrative journalism? The questions will be attempted to be answered with a detailed analysis of a text of investigative journalism that is also nonfiction writing, though literary in nature.

Salivary gland cancers (SGC) are rare neoplasms that exhibit a wide array of histological heterogeneities. Most patients presenting with SGCs are asymptomatic, as they are typically slow-growing and localized. Primary surgical resection is the cornerstone treatment for SGCs and radiotherapy is performed in selected cases. There is no consensus on concrete standard post-operative guidelines. Patients are followed-up for years, however an agreed duration of follow-up is less elucidated in the literature present on the subject. Distant metastases are the primary cause of treatment failure. Post-operative diagnostic evidence of disease recurrence or distant metastases is heavily guided by radiological examinations. Patients with SGCs have better outcomes with a well-structured and lengthy follow-up plan. This review aims to suggest an appropriate follow-up duration and radiological modalities used post-operatively for SGC patients.

AbstractTitanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles possess intriguing properties and have been extensively utilized in medical applications due to their exceptional antimicrobial characteristics. The antimicrobial efficacy can be heightened by altering the structural morphology, size, and optical properties through the introduction of transition metal ions (M: Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) with a concentration of x = 0.02 into TiO2, thereby producing Ti1-xMxO2 powder via the sol-gel method at a sintering temperature ranging from 500 °C to 600 °C. The morphological characteristics of Ti1-xMxO2 were analyzed using FT-IR, UV-DRS, XRD, TGA, BET, and SEM-EDAX techniques. Substituting M-doped TiO2 at a sintering temperature of 500 °C results in all doping ions yielding the Ti1-xMxO2 anatase phase. Conversely, at 600 °C, the doping ions M: Cu, Co, Zn exhibit a tendency to substitute the TiO2 structure, destabilizing the anatase phase and leading to the formation of an anatase-rutile dual phase with larger crystal size. At elevated temperatures, ions with larger radii than Ti (0.61), namely Cu (0.73), Co (0.75), and Zn (0.74), tend to be substituted, thereby altering the structure of TiO2. The antimicrobial efficacy, evaluated based on the inhibition zone, demonstrates that Ti1-xMxO2 effectively inhibits the cellular activity of Salmonella typhimurium (Gram -) and Staphylococcus aureus (Gram +) bacteria compared to TiO2. Objective To understand the status quo of employee satisfaction in a public hospital under the background of high-quality development. Methods From March 23,2022 to April 22, 2022, a cluster sampling survey was conducted on the employees of a tertiary general hospital in a prefecture-level city in Anhui Province by using the National Health Commission Employee Satisfaction Questionnaire to analyze their job satisfaction. Results The total score of employee satisfaction was (72.14±10.59) score. The scores of five dimensions of salary and welfare, development and promotion, work content and environment, supervisor-subordinate relationship and peer relationship were(16.14±4.18),(13.10±3.45),(17.29±2.38),(10.40±1.50) and(15.20±1.83) score, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in the satisfaction scores of employees with different working years, jobs and professional titles (P<0.05). There were significant differences in the scores of salary and welfare, work content and environment dimensions between different genders(P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of each dimension of employee satisfaction survey among different working years(P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of each dimension of employee satisfaction in different jobs (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of salary and welfare, development and promotion, superior-subordinate relationship and peer relationship among employees with different professional titles (P<0.05). Conclusion The overall satisfaction of the hospital 's employees is good. Introduction- Doppler ultrasonography is used to evaluate uteroplacental circulation by analysing the systolic and diastolic waveforms. Given the ethnic and geographical differences in PIH and IUGR, it is crucial to comprehend the methods used to predict it in different populations. The aim of present study was to assess the role of level 2 doppler waveforms (at the time of anomaly scan) in assessing abnormal trophoblastic invasion and predicting adverse pregnancy outcomes in the form of PIH and IUGR. Material and methods- The present prospective study was conducted in department of obstetrics and gynaecology at SMGS Hospital among 100 pregnant females visiting the OPD during the study period of one year. As detailed level 2 anomaly scan is mandatory in our settings at 18-22 weeks, the required data on doppler study at 18-22 weeks could easily be extracted from the study patients, thus being economical on the part of patients in low resource settings.The doppler study was performed on all cases throughout the 18-22 weeks period of pregnancy and the two Indices like Pulsatility Index and Diastolic notch of uterine artery were recorded. The patients were followed up for the development of PIH and IUGR. Results- Out of 100 cases, pregnancy induced hypertension was found in 20 cases while 80 cases did not show pregnancy induced hypertension.30 cases developed IUGR and 70 remained non IUGR cases. Diastolic notch was found in 16 of PIH and 22 of nonPIH patients. 8 of PIH cases had a pulsatility index (PI) of greater than 1.71, compared to 10 of non PIH cases, which had a PI of greater than 1.71 (p=0.01). The sensitivity of diastolic notch in diagnosis of PIH was 65.3% whereas, that of PI was 53.48%. Similarly, diastolic notch was present in 19 of IUGR cases and 10 of non IUGR cases.8 of IUGR patients had PI of >1.7 and 20 of non IUGR cases had PI of > 1.7 giving the statistically significant results. Thus, second trimester doppler changes in the uterine artery has a role in prediction of IUGR too. Conclusion– Uterine artery doppler is a potentially effective method for predicting the occurrence of PIH and IUGR by examining both the pulsatility index (PI) and the presence of a diastolic notch in the uterine artery. Blowflies and beetles are among the invertebrate species that are attracted to dead bodies and can provide valid evidence in cases of murder or suspicious death investigation. An important consideration is the quality of the evidence which partly depends on the accurate identification of invertebrates. The morphological identification of blowflies has some limitations, especially in relation to damaged samples, or immature stages of the flies. DNA-based techniques such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequence analysis have been applied to overcome the shortfalls of the classical identification methods. The present study combined the use of classical and PCR methods to identify invertebrates associated with pig carrions in Nigeria. Adult invertebrates were collected on and around pig carcasses in Nigeria. A total of 416 invertebrates belonging to Diptera; Calliphoridae (n = 160), Sarcophagidae (n = 26) and Muscidae (n = 72) while Coleopterans; Dermestidae (n = 52), Histeridae (n = 63), Cleridae (n = 25) and Silphidae (n = 18) families collected from pig carrions in Nigeria were identified. The cytochrome oxidase 1 (cox1) gene from selected specimens was amplified and sequenced. Nucleotide sequence analysis and phylogenetic trees confirmed the presence of dipterans and coleopterans of forensic importance in Nigeria. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to use the mitochondrial cox1 gene coupled with sequence analysis to identify and characterize arthropods of forensic importance in Nigeria. This study was conducted to assess the digital services of the Philippine Social Security System in terms of processing of personal data, organizational measures, physical measures, and technical measures. The research employed a descriptive-correlational approach, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data gathering instrument. However, interviews among the 5 heads of the 5 biggest branches of SSS in the NCR were utilized to validate the data taken in the questionnaire among the 3 groups of respondents: BPOs (120), front-liners (180), and clients (1292). For BPOs and front-liners, complete enumeration was used, while convenience sampling was utilized for clients. Weighted mean and one-way ANOVA were used for the treatment of the data. The study revealed that all the indicators in all four variables were, on average, partially implemented. The seriousness of the encountered problems led to a highly recommended assessment of the presented solutions. Further investigation revealed no significant differences in assessment among the three groups of respondents. The study's findings led to the conclusion that Philippine Social Security requires additional physical and electronic paperwork. Additionally, the Philippine Social Security System shares and exchanges personal data with other parties through digital channels. Furthermore, the corporate orientation course for newly hired or absorbed employees does not include security management, despite its availability. Finally, SSS has yet to use advanced technology to detect fake, altered, and fraudulent documents; hence, it still needs to use advanced technology to formulate a comprehensive data security manual to integrate digital measures against cybercrime. Therefore, the study's findings and conclusions inform the following recommendations: Firstly, we should archive and retain physical or electronic documents containing personal data in secure and protected record rooms, offsite storage facilities, or receptacles or cabinets, in accordance with the issued policies. Second, only with prior consent or authority from the data subjects, a judicial order, or a data sharing agreement can we use digital platforms to disclose and share personal data with third parties. Third, newly hired or absorbed employees should include data security management in their corporate orientation course. Fourth, we should use advanced technology to detect fake, altered, and fraudulent documents. Finally, we should formulate a data security manual to incorporate digital measures against cybercrime. The recurrence of specific deteriorating phenomena in blue paints used by Edvard Munch, observed more frequently from artworks from 1907 and onwards, calls for an analytical investigation of these paints. Ten commercial Ultramarine blue oil paint tubes from Munch's studio materials were studied, employing a multi-analytical approach comprising ATR-FTIR, µ-Raman, GC-MS, and SEM-EDS techniques. This study aims to ascertain the composition of these industrially produced blue oil paints and shed more light on the potential implications for darkening and other deterioration phenomena observed in Munch's artworks. The analyzed samples exhibited complex mixtures, characterized by significant presences of additives such as non-drying or partially drying oils, metal soaps, and preservatives. Moreover, extenders including clay minerals and white and other blue pigments were identified. Some compositions diverged from those indicated on the labels of the tubes. This study presents hypotheses regarding the causes of deterioration mechanisms observed in Ultramarine blue paints and outlines future perspectives and implications of darkening and other surface degradation phenomena in paintings from MUNCH's collection towards best conservation and display practices. On 2 March 2015, one span of the so-called "Italia Viaduct", the second highest bridge in Europe, collapsed during some renovation works, killing one worker. This article describes in detail the forensic investigations developed by the authors acting as technical consultants (i.e. expert witnesses) to the Public Prosecutor. In cases similar to that under study, it is very common that the collapse is disproportionate to the original cause. Hence, in the investigation, a clear distinction between the triggering cause and the causes of the damage evolution was made. The purpose of the investigations was not only to determine the causes of such a collapse but also to give the Public Prosecutor sufficient data to identify the parties responsible. The aim of the article is also to discuss the methodology used for the investigations and the relevant results in order to trace general criteria useful for forensic structural investigations. To achieve food security in a contaminated agricultural land, the remediation areas usually need more samples to obtain accurate contamination information and implement appropriate measures. In this study, we propose an optimal encryption sampling design to instead of the detailed survey, which is determined by the variation of heavy metals and the technology capability of remediation, to guide soil sampling for accurately remediation in the potential remediation-effective areas (PRA). The coefficient of screening variation threshold (CSVT), considering spatial variation, technology capacity and acceptable error of sampling, together with the spatial cyclic statistics method of neighbourhood analysis, is introduced to identify and delineate the PRA. Both of the hypothetical analysis and application case studies are conducted to illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of the optimization. The results show that, compared with the detailed survey, the optimal design shows a lower overall accuracy due to its sparsely sampling at the clean area, but it exhibits a similar effect of accurately prediction in boundary delineation and further classification in the PRA in both simulation and application studies. This work provides an effective method for subsequent accurate remediation at the investigation stage and valuable insights into application combination of technology capacity and contaminated agricultural land investigation. In this article we studied chocolate with 100% cocoa without lecithin and traces of milk in the form of chips. The data obtained are in accordance with those obtained from the specialized literature. This article proposes two relations of dependence of log dynamic viscosity on log shear rate. The relations determined by second-order polynomial and exponential fitting can be successfully applied to confectionery products because the obtained correlation coefficients are close to unity. The cauda equina syndrome (CES) is a rare but critical disorder, which can result in devastating motor weakness and sensory deficit, alongside often irreversible bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. In addition to the clinical burden of disease, this syndrome results in a disproportionately high medicolegal strain due to missed or delayed diagnoses. Despite being an emergency diagnosis, often necessitating urgent surgical decompression to treat, we believe there is a lack of clarity for clinicians in the current literature, with no published Irish guideline concerning screening or detection. The current study aims to identify and analyse appropriate guidelines in relation to CES screening which are available to clinicians in Ireland. The study design included a comprehensive literature review and comparison of existing guidelines. The review identified 13 sources of appropriate guidance for clinicians working in Ireland. These resources included textbooks, websites and guidelines developed in the UK. No Irish guidelines or advice were available on CES screening/treatment at the time of review. This review demonstrated the lack of consensus and guidance for clinicians in Ireland on how to effectively screen for CES, judge who requires further imaging and investigations and how to rule out the condition. A national consensus on thorough screening and prompt investigation for CES is necessary, and the formulation of new CES guidelines would be a welcome addition to what is available to clinicians currently. Objective: To explore the implementation of low-iodine diets by medical staff caring for patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma prior to 131I therapy across 58 hospitals, and offer valuable insights for the development of guidelines on low-iodine diets. Methods: Convenience sampling was utilized to conduct a survey among 163 medical staff members working in nuclear medicine departments across 58 tertiary hospitals using a self-designed questionnaire. Results: Concerning the duration of the low-iodine diet prior to treatment, the medical staff's recommendations were as follows: 58.28% suggested 2–4 weeks, 31.29% recommended more than 4 weeks, 9.2% opted for 7–13 days, and 1.23% favored less than 1 week. Regarding the timing of resuming a normal diet, the respondents' recommendations ranged from immediately after treatment (1.84%) to 3 months post-treatment (8.58%), with intermediate recommendations of 2 h (8.58%), 24–48 h (14.11%), post-discharge (12.26%), and 1 month (42.94%). Furthermore, the surveyed medical staff unanimously recommended abstaining from seafood, with 90.8% also advising against the consumption of iodized salt, 91.41% recommending avoidance of iodine-containing medications, and 71.17% advising caution with moderately high-iodine foods. Notably, 75.46% of the medical staff evaluated patient compliance with the low-iodine diet. When patients failed to adhere to the diet preparation, 33.74% of healthcare workers chose to proceed with treatment. In terms of guidance sources, 96.93% of respondents relied on relevant guidelines, 66.26% referred to the literature, and 49.69% drew upon their clinical experience. During hospitalization, 58.28% of the medical staff continued to guide patients on the low-iodine diet, while only 8.59% provided such guidance after discharge. Notably, only 20.25% of the staff considered consulting the nutrition department. Conclusion: This study underscored substantial variations in the duration and selection criteria for low-iodine diets, which were linked to a scarcity of standardized evaluations. Consequently, there is an urgent need for further research to establish detailed, practical, accessible, comprehensive, and dependable implementation programs for low-iodine diets. Aims: This investigation aims to elucidate the treatment status of advanced HR+/HER2- breast cancer patients in Hunan Province of Central Southern China from November 2021 to December 2022. Methods: Data from 301 patients with advanced HR+/HER2- breast cancer were collected from the breast cancer investigation project in Hunan under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncolfogy (CSCO). The data included the clinical characteristics of patients and the status of first-line and second-line rescue treatment. Results: First-line chemotherapy and endocrine therapy for mBC accounted for 40% (121/301) and 60% (180/301) of treatments, respectively. AI (21%), AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (28%), and fulvestrant (24%) or fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (18%) were the most common first-line endocrine therapies. Taxane-based chemotherapy was the most common first-line chemotherapy (59%). Second-line chemotherapy and endocrine therapy for mBC accounted for 43% (72/166) and 57% (94/166) of treatments, respectively. Fulvestrant (23%) or fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor (29%) were the most common second-line endocrine therapies. The prevalences of AI and AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor decreased to 19% and 11%, respectively. T (taxane)-based chemotherapy was still the most common chemotherapy regimen (46%). Third-line chemotherapy was more prevalent than endocrine therapy (57% vs. 41%). T (taxane)-based chemotherapy was still the most common chemotherapy regimen (46%). Fulvestrant plus CDK4/6 inhibitor was the most common endocrine therapy (33%). AI, AI plus CDK4/6 inhibitor, and fulvestrant accounted for 21%, 12% and 18% of third-line endocrine therapies, respectively. Simple Summary: Brain metastases (BMs), the most common type of cerebral tumor, are primarily associated with lung cancer, breast cancer, and melanoma. Patients typically present to the emergency department (ED) with insidious symptoms such as headaches, focal neurological deficits, seizures, and signs of increased intracranial pressure. Key symptomatic treatment in the ED includes corticosteroids to manage peritumoral edema, and carefully selected antiepileptic medications for tumor-related epileptic conditions. After stabilization, the treatment philosophy for BMs should prioritize effective yet minimally toxic options to maximize quality of life. Surgery is recommended for accessible BMs in patients with good performance status. Radiation therapy and systemic treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, are available options for managing disease progression. Given that over half of patients with BMs in the ED are admitted, a better understanding of avoidable hospitalizations is essential to differentiate those who can be safely discharged from those needing observation or hospitalization. Brain metastases (BMs) are the most prevalent type of cerebral tumor, significantly affecting survival. In adults, lung cancer, breast cancer, and melanoma are the primary cancers associated with BMs. Symptoms often result from brain compression, and patients may present to the emergency department (ED) with life-threatening conditions. The goal of treatment of BMs is to maximize survival and quality of life by choosing the least toxic therapy. Surgical resection followed by cavity radiation or definitive stereotactic radiosurgery remains the standard approach, depending on the patient's condition. Conversely, whole brain radiation therapy is becoming more limited to cases with multiple inoperable BMs and is less frequently used for postoperative control. BMs often signal advanced systemic disease, and patients usually present to the ED with poorly controlled symptoms, justifying hospitalization. Over half of patients with BMs in the ED are admitted, making effective ED-based management a challenge. This article reviews the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and current treatment options of patients with BMs. Additionally, it provides an overview of ED management and highlights the challenges faced in this setting. An improved understanding of the reasons for potentially avoidable hospitalizations in cancer patients with BMs is needed and could help emergency physicians distinguish patients who can be safely discharged from those who require observation or hospitalization. Introduction: The impact evaluation constitutes a qualitative and quantitative valuation of the effects in a project or program implementation in specific population groups. Objective: To evaluate the impact of a territorial program implemented in Santiago de Cuba. Methods: An investigation in the area of impact evaluation was carried out related to the Territorial Program "Development of products and health services, from 2020 until 2023, in Santiago de Cuba. The population was conformed by the 12 projects implemented and its results. Theoretical and empiric methods were used. The variable impact was evaluated through 3 dimensions and 11 indicators. Results: The training dimension showed the professionals trained in diverse university careers (93) and postgraduated training of masters, specialists and doctors in science (30). The investigative dimension revealed 64 publications in impact magazines, 78 presentations in national and international events, 13 prizes, 12 technological products and 15 records of intellectual property. The social dimension exposed 31 related health services, 6573 patients and 133 professionals benefited. Conclusions: The results obtained in the impact evaluation of this territorial program showed the effects achieved by the implementation of its projects in training, investigative and social dimensions. The research competence of university professors is an important aspect, because they are in charge of training future professionals. The objective of the present study was to determine the research competencies of university health sciences teachers. Basic cross-sectional research carried out in a sample of 169 health sciences teachers from four Peruvian public universities. The data were collected online through a 31-item Likert-type research competency scale that evaluates the dimensions of Identification, generation and scientific dissemination. Statistical analysis was performed with the non-parametric Chi square test. The results show that 70% of the teachers have good research competence and according to the relationship analysis, it can be shown that there is a relationship between the research competence of the university teachers and the university where they carry out their work by obtaining a p- value less than 5%. Likewise, according to dimensions, the lowest competence developed by teachers is scientific dissemination, observing that 27% of the total develop this competence. Context: A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analyzing data. Department of Community Medicine was tasked with SARS-CoV2-IgG antibody serosurvey by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, sampling 5000 people spread over an area of 181 sq. km. There were no real-time mapping apps available for field surveys. Aims: Our aim was to develop an easy-to-use GIS system with a shallow learning curve and real-time mapping for field surveys which could be easily deployed. Materials and Methods: The program was developed using PHP hosted on a virtual private server and using Google Maps Application Programming Interface (API). The field investigator shares location through telegram to a bot which parses message, decodes geo-coordinates, team information, and time stamp. The program then passes the information for further processing, viewing, or analyzing. The map is generated using Google Maps API at user request. The teams are segregated using color coding. Results: The data can be accessed at http://test.techlabel.in/. Over 638 households from which samples were taken were plotted by the data from ten teams over ten days. Real-time feedbacks were possible as the study progressed. Households plotted on the maps were verified by the respective field investigators after the study had completed and showed good accuracy. Conclusion: The introduction of GIS software such as ours could bring about a positive impact on small- and medium-scale field researches. Zayd Mutee Dammaj, is a Yemeni short story and novel writer known for his novel “er-Rehîne / The Hostage”, which has gained wide fame beyond Yemen. The author, who lived between 1943 and 2000, gained fame with his first and only novel, “erRehîne / The Hostage”, in addition to his several collections of short stories. The novel reveals the realities of the Yemeni Imamate that lasted in Yemen between 1904 and 1962 and the management policy of the Imams. It also deals with national consciousness and the struggle for independence. The novel was selected by the Arab Writers Union as one of the top 100 Arabic novels of the 20th century and has been translated into French, English, German, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Hindi and Serbian. The novel attracted the attention of many critics and writers; it has been the subject of many studies, literary articles and academic theses not onlyin Yemen but also in many countries of the world. Apart from digital editions, one hundred thousand editions of the novel have been published until today. It is stated that this figure is a record number compared to Yemeni and Arabic novels. In this study, technical and thematic issues such as the plot of the novel, language and stylistic features, character analysis were analyzed and also touches on how the Imamate regime that marked the period affected people emotionally and spiritually, and how this regime took away their rights to life, freedom and dreams.
