The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is critical for patellar stability. This study investigates the efficacy of a one-year physical therapy rehabilitation program following MPFL reconstruction using Synthetic Graft (SG) and Quadriceps Tendon Autograft (QTA). Thirty-five patients aged 18–38 underwent MPFL reconstruction (20 SG, 15 QTA). They participated in a structured rehabilitation program to improve their range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, pain management, and overall quality of life (QoL). The program included physiotherapy and MLS laser, Game Ready Therapy, EMS, TENS, TECAR, and lymphatic drainage. Before and after the program, assessments included knee flexion and extension using goniometry, muscle strength via the Medical Research Council (MRC) scale, knee circumference, pain intensity on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and QoL with the EQ-5D instrument. Significant improvements were observed in knee flexion (37.57° vs. 114.71°, p < 0.001), muscle strength (MRC scale 1–4 points vs. 4–5 points, p < 0.001), and pain reduction (VAS 6.66 vs. 0.46, p < 0.001). The functional coefficient of mobility and QoL scores also markedly increased. Patients with QTA improved some parameters better than those with SG. These findings support the effectiveness of a comprehensive rehabilitation program in enhancing knee functionality, reducing pain, and improving QoL post-MPFL reconstruction. Personalized rehabilitation protocols are recommended to optimize recovery outcomes.

Prosthetic rehabilitation of the maxillary front teeth is an extremely laborious problem for the dental team, consisting of the dentist and the dental technician. If for the physiognomic component the most recommended materials are the ceramic masses, for the resistance substrate there are several variants. Conventional technologies using dental alloys and modern ones involving the use of zirconium dioxide can be used successfully in performing fixed prosthetic restorations in the maxillary frontal area, both options having both advantages and disadvantages, as we will describe in this material.

Communication between the clinical department (dental office) and the technical department (dental laboratory) is one of the topics that often comes to the mind of every dental technician or dentist. This communication can be done by different methods as a type of inter-compartment communication, but diagnostic wax-up, along with Digital Smile Design and mock-up, is not only one of the most effective, but also one of the clearest and precise ways of transmitting information from the dental technician to the dentist, and implicitly to the patient, but also vice versa.

The Resistance was a reaffirmation of France's independence and individuality, as well as a struggle to regain freedom and, above all, national integrity. In fact, many historians appreciate that the French Resistance could have achieved more if it had been more effectively integrated into Allied plans and strategies. Thus, in this material we tried to present some short biographies of dentists who worked in the French Resistance against the German occupation troops, some of them even paying with their lives for the courage they showed.

The First World War was and is considered the most terrible conflagration of all time. Thus, over 65,000,000 soldiers made up the corps of land armies, naval and air forces, combat armies that participated in the conduct of military operations during the First World War. About 8,500,000 people died and more than 21,000,000 were injured. France was one of the countries most affected by this war, its medical services, including dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery, being completely obsolete. Thus, in this material, we tried to describe some important figures of French oral and maxillofacial dentistry and surgery, which were active in French civil and military hospitals during the First World War (1914-1918).

Sedentary behavior, both professional, occupational, and leisure, recreational, is one of the major risk factors for cardio-metabolic health and premature mortality. But, we find this sedentary behavior in many of the existing professional activities in 2021, among which are the professional activities with a medical profile in the field of dentistry: specific activities of the dental office (and here we discuss dentists and dental nurses) and activities specific to the dental technique laboratory (in this case, we are talking about dental technicians).

Introduction. In order to achieve the goals of oral implantology, it is of great importance to obtain tissue integration (bone and epithelial) of dental implants. Bone integration has the role of rigidly fixing the dental implant at the level of the supporting bone, while ensuring the transfer of masticatory forces to the neighboring bone, while the soft tissues integration has the role of creating a barrier around these medical devices, with the role of protecting the underlying bone and preventing the access of microorganisms. Purpose. In this material we wanted to perform a statistical analysis on the gingival integration and osseointegration of dental implants in the oral cavity. Material and method. The analysis was performed on a number of 21 patients with a total of 97 dental implants, approximately one year after the prosthetic loading of the implants. The analysis was based on bleeding index, gingival index but also on the depth of the peri-implant canal and bone resorption around the implant. Results and discussions. Most of the implants analyzed showed no signs of inflammation. A small number (less than 30%) showed incipient signs of inflammation, falling within the data in the literature. Conclusions. Early detection of tissue changes around the implant and proper treatment will reduce the risk of more serious injuries and implant failure.

Literature states that physical activity increases blood circulation to the brain, improving mental health, maintaining emotional balance, and preventing mental depression, anxiety, panic attacks and memory loss in older adults. By adopting a daily physical activity regimen, negative effects caused by a sedentary life are reduced, ensuring good mental and physical health, especially to individuals in their senescence age, who are in social welfare homes. This study aimed to implement some physical activity models to be applied by the institutionalized older adults and identify potential positive effects on psycho-emotional well-being of those who have actively and consciously exercised, compared to those who preferred to carry out their daily routine within the facility. The study focused on the use of six types of exercise programs, i.e., three exercise programs aiming at the selective influencing of the locomotor system and three cardio training programs. Individuals were monitored via the emotional distress profile, and results showed that the difference between the two groups regarding their psycho-emotional and affective well-being was statistically significant (p<0.01) as calculated by the Mann-Whitney U test for two independent samples. In the final testing phase, the scores of the experimental group varied between 26 and 30, featuring subjects with optimal psycho-affective state, and all subjects from the control group reported a low emotional distress level. Apart from the movement's physical benefits, older people also showed benefits on the mental and social well-being, which manifested by the participation in various activities, and their desire to communicate, express their feelings, and relate to those around them,; all those made them not to feel lonely anymore, which is a feeling quite pronounced at their age. To conclude, physical activity helps maintain mental tone and proper functioning of the organic systems, which ensure optimal body adaptation to physical strains and nervous tension. Proximal humerus fracture ranks third in the elderly after femoral neck fractures and distal radius fractures, and seventh in adults, and the risk of occurrence is related to advancing age. In this study we aimed to analyze the efficacy of a 24-weeks physical therapy programme based on a particular methodology consisting of the reprogramming of the specific proprioceptive neuromuscular facil-itation techniques added to the classical physical therapy and by introducing modern interactive therapies and technologies: Capacitive Resistive Electric Transference, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, kinesiological tapes and PRAMA system, compared with classical physical therapy. Our study included 26 patients, aged between 18 and 55 years, with proximal humerus fracture, who complete the 24-weeks rehabilitation programme. We assessed pain, shoulder range of motion, muscle strength and the ability to perform activities of daily living. The statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS and Excel 2021. The results showed statistically significant im-provement in all shoulder motion, increased muscle strength, decreased pain, and a better ability to perform daily activities. The physical therapy programme based on the proposed particular methodology has proven to be more effective than classical physical therapy, both regarding the improvement of the movement parameters compared to the physiological values, as well as the symmetry of both shoulders.
