This study aims to map the intellectual structure of research regarding the role of the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) in the development of Islamic finance. This mapping includes bibliographic analysis, keywords, and a network map of research trends. This study uses the bibliometric method by utilizing the Biblioshiny and Vos Viewer analysis tools. The researcher used 315 articles published on the Scopus page from 1988-2023. The results show that in the last 10 years, a topic about SSB has received great attention from researchers with an increase in article production. This topic has been discussed by authors from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. The results of the study also show that there are five clusters consisting of the role of SSB in the implementation of shariah governance; the role of SSB in encouraging the development of Islamic finance; SSB in improving the performance of Islamic banking; the characteristics of SSB; and the leadership and political system. The results of this study guide researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to understand the direction and focus of the Sharia Advisory Council (SSB) research. Its practical implications include strengthening the conceptual foundation of the SSB, supporting the development of the Islamic finance industry, and potentially becoming the basis for the development of a new conceptual framework in the future. Environmental issues, particularly global warming and rising carbon emissions, have garnered significant attention, with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries contributing notably to global CO2 emissions. Thus, this study aims to investigate the impact of Islamic finance development and renewable energy on CO2 emissions in OIC countries. The study involves data from 13 OIC member countries spanning from 2013 to 2020. System generalized method of moments (Sys-GMM) and fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) methods are employed in this paper. The empirical findings indicate that Islamic finance development has a negative significant impact on CO2 emissions both in the short and long run, suggesting that Islamic finance plays a role in facilitating funding for environmentally friendly initiatives that align with the principles described in the Quran. Similarly, the results reveal that renewable energy contributes to reducing CO2 emissions in OIC countries. It implies that renewable energy serves as a solution to drive economic growth and industrial activities without causing harm to the environment. This research emphasizes the need to enhance regulations and implementation of green Islamic financial products, while it is imperative to promote fiscal incentives and boost clean energy investment in Muslim countries. This study investigates the relationship between Institutional quality, Economic freedom, technological advancement, and Islamic financial development in selected OIC countries. This study employs the panel estimation method to examine annual data pertaining to Islamic bank industries across 22 countries, sourced from the SESRIC database, from 2013 to 2021. The findings show that the overall quality of institutions and economic freedom influence Islamic finance development. Further, the contribution of technological development appears when institutional quality indicates higher performance. Despite the predominant correlation observed among institutional indicators, this study, focusing on a comprehensive index, reveals a consistent and significant contribution of institutional quality to the growth of Islamic finance. Furthermore, this study's findings show that institutional quality and economic freedom are related; yet, the methods by which the foundations of each indicator influence financial development differ. The findings of this research underscore the importance of urging policymakers, particularly governmental authorities, to prioritize the development of policies and initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy and conducive environment. Emphasizing practical and transparent institutional frameworks is essential for cultivating a well-regulated economic environment.

This work is a study on Islamic finance development and economic growth nexus for Turkey. It employs the econometric methods of unit root, co-integration, and Granger causality in a VECM framework; and the results, which are robust to all measures of Islamic finance development, show a unidirectional short and long run causality from Islamic finance development to economic growth. Hence, it is recommended that policy makers increase their efforts in promoting Islamic finance in Turkey.
