Abnormal intracellular phase transitions in mutant hnRNP A1 may underlie the development of several neurodegenerative diseases. The risk of these diseases increases upon C9Orf72 repeat expansion and the accumulation of the corresponding G-quadruplex (G4)-forming RNA, but the link between this RNA and the disruption of hnRNP A1 homeostasis has not been fully explored so far. Our aim was to clarify the mutual effects of hnRNP A1 and C9Orf72 G4 in vitro. Using various optical methods and atomic force microscopy, we investigated the influence of the G4 on the formation of cross-beta fibrils by the mutant prion-like domain (PLD) of hnRNP A1 and on the co-separation of the non-mutant protein with a typical SR-rich fragment of a splicing factor (SRSF), which normally drives the assembly of nuclear speckles. The G4 was shown to act in a holdase-like manner, i.e., to restrict the fibrillation of the hnRNP A1 PLD, presumably through interactions with the PLD-flanking RGG motif. These interactions resulted in partial unwinding of the G4, suggesting a helicase-like activity of hnRNP A1 RGG. At the same time, the G4 was shown to disrupt hnRNP A1 co-separation with SRSF, suggesting its possible contribution to pathology through interference with splicing regulation.

IntroductionThere is high evidence that chronic exercise benefits overall depression severity in older adults. However, late-life depression is characterized by considerable heterogeneity in clinical manifestation emphasizing the need for more individualized exercise intervention programs. Therefore, the objective of the proposed review is to investigate the effects of chronic exercise on overall depression severity and on different symptoms of depression in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) including older adults with a mean age of at least 60 years, and by considering the moderating effects of intervention characteristics and individual characteristics.MethodsThis protocol is guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P). We will use the Population-Intervention-Comparator-Outcomes-Study design (PICOS) criteria for study inclusion and will search the following database sources for relevant RCTs: Web of Science, Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, APA Psycinfo, SPORTDiscuss, Cochrane. Two independent reviewers will conduct the study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment. Disagreement will be solved by a third reviewer. Primary outcome will be changes in overall depression severity and secondary outcomes will encompass changes in symptoms of depression as defined by the DSM-5, such as sleep quality, fatigue, anxiety, mood, apathy, changes in weight, information processing speed, and executive functions, from baseline until the end of the intervention and to any available intermediary measurement or follow up. Meta-analysis will be undertaken to synthesize the effects of chronic exercise on primary and secondary outcomes. Subgroup analysis will investigate the moderating effects of intervention characteristics (frequency, intensity, duration, type of exercise, cognitive demand, social interactions, exercise supervision, behavioral change techniques, compliance, study design, dropout-rate, type of control group) and individual characteristics (age, sex, education, functional capacity, global cognition, population) on primary and secondary outcomes. Additionally, we plan to assess quality of evidence and publication bias, and to carry out sensitivity analysis.ConclusionThe results of the proposed review are anticipated to have a substantial impact on research and clinical practice. On the one hand, the review's conclusions could form the foundation for developing evidence-based recommendations for individualized exercise programs that alleviate depression in older adults. Background: Religious faith and practice are important aspects of human life and give meaning to human existence. The development of modernity and consumerism has significantly undermined the religious foundations of a present-day global society. The aim of this study is to determine the relationships of the religious faith and practice of student youth and adults in Poland (Podkarpacie and Lesser Poland regions) and in western Ukraine (Lviv region) with their self-rated health status and attitudes toward physical culture. Methods: The study was conducted online in Poland and Ukraine from January to April 2022. A convenience sample of 1458 people was recruited. The questionnaire included 16 questions about religiosity, attitudes towards physical culture, and self-rated health status. Questions regarding self-esteem and attitudes towards physical culture were assessed on a Likert scale of 1 to 5 points. Other questions contained single-choice answers. Data were analyzed using Statistica v. 13.3. Results: The component of health that was rated highest was physical health among believers and mental health among non-believers. The results of the analysis of variance showed significant differences between the individual variables depending on the declaration of faith in God. Conclusion: While the faith of the inhabitants of southeastern Poland and western Ukraine is largely related to their regular religious practice, irregularity dominates this practice. Respondents combined ratings of their faith and/or practice with self-rated health status; more religious people had statistically lower levels of self-rated health.

Background/objective: The holistic concept of physical literacy (PL) embraces different person-centered qualities (physical, cognitive, affective/psychological) necessary to lead physically active lifestyles. PL has recently gained increasing attention globally and Europe is no exception. However, scientific endeavors summarizing the current state of PL in Europe are lacking. Therefore, the goal of this study was to comprehensively assess and compare the implementation of PL in research, policy, and practice across the continent. Methods: We assembled a panel of experts representing 25 European countries. Employing a complementary mixed-methods design, the experts first prepared reviews about the current state of PL in their countries (categories: research, practice/policy). The reviews underwent comparative document analysis, ensuring a transnational four-eyes principle. For re-validation purposes, the representatives completed a quantitative survey with questions reflecting the inductive themes from the document analysis. Results: The document analysis resulted in ten disjunct themes (related to “concept”, “research”, “practice/policy”, “future/prospect”) and yielded a heterogenous PL situation in Europe. The implementation state was strongly linked to conceptual discussions (e.g., existence of competing approaches), linguistic issues (e.g., translations), and country-specific traditions. Despite growing scholarly attention, PL hesitantly permeates practice and policy in most countries. Nevertheless, the experts largely anticipate increasing popularity of PL for the future. Conclusion: Despite the heterogeneous situation across Europe, the analysis has uncovered similarities among the countries, such as the presence of established yet not identical concepts. Research should intensify academic activities (conceptual-linguistic elaborations, empirical work) before PL may gain further access into practical and political spheres in the long term.

Purpose: The purpose was to develop an inclusive physical education program for schoolchildren with ASD and experimentally test its effectiveness. Materials and methods: An inclusive physical education curriculum for children with ASD was made up and incorporated into the process of physical education in secondary schools. At the beginning and the end of the pedagogical experiment, 12-year-old children were tested in the experimental (involved in the author's program, n=9) and control groups (involved in the traditional curriculum, n=11). The indicators of psychophysical fitness of children were determined according to the results of 19 test exercises. The reliability of the differences was determined by the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Under the influence of the author's program, physical fitness of children of the experimental group improved significantly. Whereas the trend towards improving almost all indicators of the physical fitness of children with ASD in the traditional program has not been confirmed statistically. The traditional physical education program was most effective in promoting flexibility (inclinations forward) and coordination (passing and catching a ball against a wall) in children with ASD. Conclusions: The author's program was proven to be significantly more effective than the traditional ones in the formation of the strength of shoulder extensors and hand flexors, fine coordination of hand muscles, the speed-strength of leg muscles, and balance. This allows us to recommend it for use in physical education lessons in institutions of general secondary education.

Високі вимоги до професійних і психофізіологічних якостей військовослужбовців підтверджує бойовий досвід, якого набув особовий склад Збройних сил України за роки війни з росією. Мета роботи полягала у вивченні важливості когнітивних якостей у структурі професійної підготовки військовослужбовців. Методоло- гія дослідження. У роботі використано теоретичний аналіз й узагальнення наукової та методичної літератури, метод соціологічного опитування (анкетування), методи математичної статистики. До експерименту залучено 155 учасників курсів підвищення кваліфікації та 29 інструкторів із фізичної підготовки й спорту. Проведено експертну оцінку важливості когнітивних показників у професійно-прикладній підготовці військовослужбовців. Здійснено порівняльний аналіз відповідей інструкторів із фізичної підготовки та спорту й учасників курсів підвищення кваліфікації. Результати дослідження. Найважливішими когнітивними якостями, на думку інструкторів, є логічне мислення (4,69 ± 0,11 бала), довготривала пам’ять (4,66 ± 0,11 бала), зосередженість уваги (4,62 ± 0,13 бала), стійкість і здатність перемикати увагу (4,59 ± 0,13 бала). Учасники курсів підвищення кваліфікації вважають, що найважливішими якостями є логічне мислення (4,34 ± 0,07 бала), стійкість (4,32 ± 0,07 бала) і зосередженість уваги (4,32 ± 0,07 бала). Висновки. На підставі проведеного оцінювання важливості когнітивних якостей військовослужбовців установлено, що показники пам’яті, уваги, мислення та уяви є важли- вими для їхньої професійної діяльності. Серед найбільш важливих для професійно-прикладної діяльності військовослужбовців є логічне мислення, довготривала пам’ять, зосередженість і стійкість уваги. Статистично достовірні відмінності (р < 0,05) між відповідями респондентів виявлено щодо таких показників, як довготри- вала пам’ять, зосередженість уваги, переключення уваги та логічне мислення.

BackgroundThe world’s population is aging, but life expectancy has risen more than healthy life expectancy (HALE). With respect to brain and cognition, the prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders increases with age, affecting health and quality of life, and imposing significant healthcare costs. Although the effects of physical exercise on cognition in advanced age have been widely explored, in-depth fundamental knowledge of the underlying mechanisms of the exercise-induced cognitive improvements is lacking. Recent research suggests that myokines, factors released into the blood circulation by contracting skeletal muscle, may play a role in mediating the beneficial effect of exercise on cognition. Our goal in this ongoing (living) review is to continuously map the rapidly accumulating knowledge on pathways between acute or chronic exercise-induced myokines and cognitive domains enhanced by exercise.MethodRandomized controlled studies will be systematically collected at baseline and every 6 months for at least 5 years. Literature search will be performed online in PubMed, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, SportDiscus, LILACS, IBECS, CINAHL, SCOPUS, ICTRP, and ClinicalTrials.gov. Risk of bias will be assessed using the Revised Cochrane Risk of Bias tool (ROB 2). A random effects meta-analysis with mediation analysis using meta-analytic structural equation modeling (MASEM) will be performed. The primary research question is to what extent exercise-induced myokines serve as mediators of cognitive function. Secondarily, the pooled effect size of specific exercise characteristics (e.g., mode of exercise) or specific older adults’ populations (e.g., cognitively impaired) on the relationship between exercise, myokines, and cognition will be assessed. The review protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42023416996).DiscussionUnderstanding the triad relationship between exercise, myokines and cognition will expand the knowledge on multiple integrated network systems communicating between skeletal muscles and other organs such as the brain, thus mediating the beneficial effects of exercise on health and performance. It may also have practical implications, e.g., if a certain myokine is found to be a mediator between exercise and cognition, the optimal exercise characteristics for inducing this myokine can be prescribed. The living review is expected to improve our state of knowledge and refine exercise regimes for enhancing cognitive functioning in diverse older adults’ populations.RegistrationSystematic review and meta-analysis protocol was registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) on the 24th of April 2023 (registration number CRD42023416996).

Актуальність. Для стимулювання досліджень грамотності у фізичній культурі важливим є адаптування якісних методик. Мета роботи – адаптація протоколу «Канадське оцінювання грамотності у фізичній культурі» (CAPL-2) та аналіз змістової валідності афективного та когнітивного доменів з використанням експертного оцінювання. Методи. Дослідження виконано з урахуванням рекомендацій викладених у стандартах щодо вибору інструментів для вимірювання стану здоров’я, які ґрунтуються на консенсусі (COSMIN). Оцінювання змістової валідності проведено за участю групи експертів, серед яких були педагогічні (N = 22, 63,6 % – жінки, стаж педагогічної роботи – M (SD) = 22,80 (12,68) року) та науково-педагогічні праців- ники (N = 8, 87,5 % – жінки, стаж науково-педагогічної роботи – M (SD) = 13,63 (9,41) року). Кожне питання протоколу CAPL-2 експерти оцінювали з погляду відповідності й зрозумілості з використанням 5-бальної шкали. Результати. Частини «Мотивація та впевненість» і «Знання і розуміння» протоколу CAPL-2 після перекладу українською мовою проаналізовано українськими фахівцями з фізичного виховання й спорту та педагогіки. На думку експертів, запропоновано блоки запитань, які стосуються афективного та когнітивного компонентів грамотності у фізичній культурі, є зрозумілими й чітко сформульованими. Виявлено труднощі у віднесенні окремих змістових блоків до тієї чи іншої частини протоколу. Висновки. Українські анкети «Моти- вація та впевненість» і «Знання і розуміння» протоколу CAPL-2 мають достатню змістову валідність. Анкети викладені простою й зрозумілою мовою, короткі за обсягом, вимагають попереднього інструктування всіх залучених осіб. Анкети розраховано на дітей віком 8–12 років. Робота з протоколом вимагає подальшого оцінювання валідності інструментів та залучення до анкетування школярів.

Introduction The WHODAS 2.0 questionnaire is used internationally to assess disability. The goal was to perform a cross�cultural adaptation and validation of the Ukrainian version of the WHODAS 2.0, and examine the tool’s efficacy, particularly for screening studies. Methods The participants of the study were cadets ( n = 256, age = 18–21 years). This study used the Ukrainian versions of the WHO Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (36 items, self-administered, WHODAS) and the Medical Outcomes Study: 36-Item Short Form Survey (MOS SF-36). The WHODAS was translated according to the WHO protocol. The level of disability, quality of life, and complaints of injuries and pain during training were assessed. Results The WHODAS was translated into Ukrainian. The overall score of the WHODAS questionnaire correlates with the values of the MOS SF-36 questionnaire scales. Numerous negative, moderate or significant correlations were found between virtually all MOS SF-36 questionnaire scales and WHODAS domains. The strength and number of correlations in the study group were lower than in populations with significant health disorders. The level of vitality, fatigue, and low efficiency were critical for the respondents. Conclusions The Ukrainian version of the 36-item WHODAS questionnaire is easy to use and is suitable for use in the form of interviews to assess the health, functioning, and disability of the general population. This tool will contribute to the more effec�tive clinical practice of clinical professionals, in particular in rehabilitation, and will enable the integration of research results related to the assessment of the level of disability at the national and international levels.

Abstract Background A cross-sectional study was performed to examine life satisfaction differences between university students from nine countries during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-national comparison of the association between life satisfaction and a set of variables was also conducted. Methods Participants in the study were 2349 university students with a mean age of 23 years (M = 23.15, SD = 4.66). There was a predominance of women (69.26%) and individuals studying at the bachelor level (78%). The research was conducted between May and July 2020 in nine countries: Slovenia (n=209), the Czech Republic (Czechia)(n=308), Germany (n=267), Poland (n=301), Ukraine (n=310), Russia (n=285), Turkey (n=310), Israel (n=199), and Colombia (n=153). Participants completed an online survey involving measures of satisfaction with life (SWLS), exposure to COVID-19, perceived negative impact of coronavirus (PNIC) on students' well-being, general self-reported health (GSRH), physical activity (PA), and some demographics (gender, place of residence, level of study). A one-way ANOVA was used to explore cross-national differences in life satisfaction. The χ2 independence test was performed separately in each country to examine associations between life satisfaction and other variables. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regressions were used to identify life satisfaction predictors among a set of demographic and health-related variables in each of the nine countries. Results The level of life satisfaction varied between university students from the nine countries. The results for life satisfaction and the other variables differed between countries. Numerous associations were noted between satisfaction with life and several variables, and these showed cross-national differences. Distinct predictors of life satisfaction were observed for each country. However, poor self-rated physical health was a predictor of low life satisfaction independent of the country. Conclusions The association between life satisfaction and subjective assessment of physical health seems to be universal, while the other variables are related to cross-cultural differences. Special public health attention should be focused on psychologically supporting people who do not feel healthy.

Background and objective: Assessing the impact of different factors on anxiety level is a complex and challenging problem, especially during pandemic or similar life threatening situations. Stress can affect dietary and eating behaviors. The aim of this study is to extend knowledge concerning the relation between increased anxiety level during pandemic and attitude towards dietary and eating behaviors in the context of social situation and support of relatives and friends. This study was conducted in 2020 during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: State-Trait Anxiety Inventory alongside auxiliary questions about social relations and eating habits were asked to the male students from different universities and courses in Eastern Europe. To assess differences and dynamics of anxiety level, multiple regression models were used. Results: Multiple regression models between state anxiety level with context to the following factors: paying particular attention to one’s diet, namely, the way of nutrition during severe anxiety felt during the pandemic and factors such as strong social support and type of university course was R = 0.41 (p = 0.00). For trait-anxiety the same model returned R = 0.39 (p = 0.00). Analysis of variance revealed that support of relatives is significant factor for state anxiety level, whereas this factor is insignificant for trait anxiety level. Conclusions: Models obtained from this study indicated that there are significant relations between anxiety level of male students and social support, which is expressed in the form of proper eating, therefore pro-health habits are revealed during elevated prolonged stress state such as COVID-19 pandemic.

Актуальність. Високий рівень громадянської грамотності залишається одним з основних пріоритетів освіти, оскільки це підґрунтя для розвитку демократії та зростання економіки. Фізичне виховання має значний потенціал для формування та розвитку громадянських компетентностей. Мета дослідження – розробити валідний інструмент для кількісного оцінювання рівня громадянських компетентностей та значення фізичного виховання у їх формуванні. Методи дослідження. У дослідженні взяли участь школярі, які навчались у третіх і шостих класах (n = 860, 53,72 % опитаних – дівчатка, 34,88 % – учні третіх класів). Здійснювали переклад та культурну адаптацію анкети «Громадянська позиція і цінності сталого розвитку» (СASD) та створювали спеціальний модуль «Громадянські компетентності у фізичному вихованні» (CCPE-10). Аналізували структуру анкет і їх валідність. Для цього застосовували дослідницький і підтверджувальний факторний аналіз, обчислювали значення α-Кронбаха, складений коефіцієнт надійності й середню вилучену дисперсію. Результати. У структурі анкети СASD виділено шкали «Солідарність», «Зобов’язання та відповідальність», «Діалог та повага». За результатами факторного аналізу в анкеті CCPE-10 виокремлено шкали «Навички спілкування та рефлексія», «Дії» й «Ідентичність». Отримані моделі мали задовільні критерії придатності (для СASD: χ²/ df = 2,53, CFI = 0,905, TLI = 0,902; RMSEA = 0,060, SRMR = 0,062; для CCPE-10: χ²/ df = 2,78, CFI = 0,901, TLI = 0,908; RMSEA = 0,058, SRMR = 0,064). Висновки. Отримано адаптовану й валідну українську версію інструменту для оцінювання громадянських компетентностей зі спеціальним модулем «Громадянські компетентності у фізичному вихованні». Інструмент розрахований на школярів третіх – шостих класів; містить шість шкал («Солідарність», «Зобов’язання та відповідальність», «Діалог та повага», «Навички спілкування та рефлексія», «Дії», «Ідентичність»); охоплює такі складники громадянських компетентностей, як знання, навички, рефлексія, соціальна когезія, толерантність; дає змогу кількісно оцінити значення фізичного виховання у формуванні громадянських компетентностей.

Abstract The student population has been highly vulnerable to the risk of mental health deterioration during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to reveal the prevalence and predictors of mental health among students in Poland, Slovenia, Czechia, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Israel, and Colombia in a socioeconomic context during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted among 2349 students (69% women) from May–July 2020. Data were collected by means of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-8), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), Gender Inequality Index (GII), Standard & Poor's Global Ratings, the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker (OxCGRT), and a sociodemographic survey. Descriptive statistics and Bayesian multilevel skew-normal regression analyses were conducted. The prevalence of high stress, depression, and generalized anxiety symptoms in the total sample was 61.30%, 40.3%, and 30%, respectively. The multilevel Bayesian model showed that female sex was a credible predictor of PSS-10, GAD-7, and PHQ-8 scores. In addition, place of residence (town) and educational level (first-cycle studies) were risk factors for the PHQ-8. This study showed that mental health issues are alarming in the student population. Regular psychological support should be provided to students by universities.

Introduction. The main task of this study was to study the level of knowledge of the Ukrainian patient about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and the factors that cause and affect this indicator, with the help of a validated instrument. Methods. 41 patients were involved in the study. Socio-demographic data, information on the duration, course of the disease and cooperation with a physical therapist were collected. Anthropometric measurements, spirometry, pulse oximetry, tonometry were performed. Patients were surveyed with Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Clinical COPD Questionnaire score, and Bristol COPD Knowledge Questionnaire (BCKQ). Bristol COPD Knowledge Questionnaire was translated, cross-culturally adapted and validated. Regression analysis was performed to determine relationships between the level of knowledge about the disease, socio-demographic data, indicators of respiratory system functional status, and survey data.Results. The average total score for BCKQ was 24.71±9.62 points. Patients gave the least number of correct answers to the question related to medical treatment. The level of knowledge depends on the factors such as age (β=-0.557; 95% CI: -1.041–0.086, p=0.086), duration of the disease (β=-0.114; 95% CI: -0.077–0.055, p=0.048), respiratory ratings, functional limitations, and own psychosocial dysfunction according to the CCQ scale (β =-0.506; 95% CI: -0.007–0.752, p=0.053), and the HADS depression score (β =-0.655; 95% CI: -4.257– -0.085, p=0.043). Conclusion. The level of knowledge of Ukrainian patients about COPD is low. More experience of the disease did not affect the increase in the level of knowledge. Older patients had a lower level of knowledge about their disease. Impact of body mass index, spirometry results, level of severity of shortness of breath, and symptoms of the disease on the level of knowledge was not revealed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the healthy behaviors in undergraduate students of physical education (PE) with a comparison between gender and majors. A content analysis of Polish and foreign authors’ publications was performed by searching the following database: EBSCO, Proquest, Science Direct (Elsevier), Springer, Sage, and Wiley. Research indicates that undergraduates demonstrate, in general, low levels of healthy lifestyle behaviors, especially regarding diet, psychoactive substance use, coping with stress, physical activity and preventive behavior. PE students present with a high level of health-risk behavior. On the other hand, some research showed that PE students scored better than their peers of other areas of study in selected dimensions of health-related behavior. The majority of studies indicate that female students scored significantly better than male students in health-related behavior. Health promotion programs should be implemented at campuses and universities for the maintenance and improvement of a healthy lifestyle among students of all areas of study.

Abstract Background The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has led many Ukrainians to fight for their country, either in the regular army or as civilian members of voluntary territorial defense forces. There is, however, a dearth of knowledge on the mental health of combatants in this conflict. Prior research on the mental health of combatants is unlikely to translate to the situation at hand because such research is focused on combatants fighting abroad and neglects civilian combatants. Methods This study provides the first attempt to investigate the mental health of Ukrainian combatants in the regular army and voluntary territorial defense forces by analyzing the prevalence rates of common mental health issues, as well as their demographic and socioeconomic predictors. Results Between March 19 and 31, 2022, the initial period of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a sample of 178 Ukrainian combatants (104 in the regular army and 74 civilian combatants) participated in a survey on symptoms of anxiety (GAD-2), depression (PHQ-2), and insomnia (ISI). Conclusions A sizable portion of Ukrainian combatants reached cut-off levels for clinical symptoms of anxiety (44·4%), depression (43·3%), and insomnia (12·4%). Importantly, the mental health of Ukrainian combatants varied between professional soldiers and civilian combatants, as well as by gender, marital status, by whether or not they were located in Russian-occupied/active-combat areas, and dependent on whether they were personally involved in combat. This study provides early evidence on the mental health of Ukrainian combatants, pointing to their urgent need for mental health assistance in the ongoing war.

Актуальність. Високий рівень захворюваності на хронічне обструктивне захворювання легень (ХОЗЛ), зниження працездатності та висока вартість лікування зумовлюють актуальність пошуку шляхів вдосконалення як медичної терапії, так і реабілітації. Доведена ефективність фізичної терапії та програм легеневої реабілітації для пацієнтів із ХОЗЛ зумовлює необхідність імплементувати сучасні напрацювання у цій галузі у клінічну практику в Україні. Мета. Обґрунтувати обсяг та зміст фізичної терапії пацієнтів із хронічним обструктивним захворюванням легень на різних рівнях надання медичної допомоги. Методи дослідження. Аналіз й узагаль­нення даних спеціальної науково-методичної літератури з питань фізичної терапії при хронічному обструктив­ному захворюванні легень. опрацювання інтернет-джерел, зокрема бази Національної медичної бібліотеки Національного інституту здоров’я Сполучених штатів (US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health) та бази доказової літератури з фізичної терапії Pedro. Результати. На основі аналізу 13 клінічних настанов присвячених менеджменту та реабілітації осіб із ХОЗЛ, враховуючи законодавчі акти Міністерства охорони здоров’я України було запропоновано алгоритм вибору фізичної терапії для пацієнтів з ХОЗЛ та охарактеризовано її особливості з врахуванням перебігу захворювання. Сформовано рекомендації щодо обсягу фізичної терапії в залежності від перебігу захворювання та рівнів надання медичної допомоги. Висновки. Фізична терапія є необхідним компонентом реабілітації у період загострення хронічного обструктивного захворювання легень та обов’язкова частина програм легеневої реабілітації при стабільному перебізі ХОЗЛ. Критеріями вибору обсягу фізичної терапії визначено стан хворого, рівень задишки, показник ОФВ1, рівень фізичної активності та працездатності.

The aim of modern therapy for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is to reduce the severity of symptoms and prevent the development of relapse exacerbations, maintain pulmonary function at an optimal level and improve the quality of life of patients. The solution to these problems is pulmonary rehabilitation. Search for effective ways of providing an educational component, assessing the impact of various training programs and implementing a self-management strategy continues. Purpose: to analyze modern approaches, advantages and disadvantages of educational programs on self-management of people with COPD and establish the role of a physical therapy specialist in providing them. Material & Methods: the search was conducted on the resource of the US National Center for Biotechnological Information PubMed and in the database of scientific evidence on physical therapy PEDro. According to the results of the search in the databases, 329 links were obtained, of which, after excluding those that did NOT meet the necessary criteria, 14 publications were selected for subsequent analysis. Results: 29 educational topics related to self-management education were identified, which in different combinations are recommended for study in educational programs for patients with COPD. Training topics were grouped into four training modules that took into account the goals and objectives of the self-management strategy and ensure their solution. The most often competent in implementing educational programs for patients with COPD are a pulmonologist, physical therapist, nurse, pharmacist, occupational therapist, and social worker. The content, results, advantages and limitations of various self-management training programs are analyzed. Conclusions: today there are not enough practical recommendations and clear criteria that training programs on self-management for patients with COPD should meet. The analysis of modern clinical studies on the introduction of self-management training is the basis for the development of Ukrainian-language training programs.

Актуальність. Незважаючи на значні напрацювання, детальне вивчення біологічних, соціальних та поведінкових аспектів і значення рухової активності для психічного здоров’я людини, відкритими для розгляду й дискусії залишаються питання розуміння механізмів впливу фізичної активності на психічне здоров’я дітей та підлітків. Мета статті – оцінити вплив занять кросфітом на психічний стан і показники якості життя осіб підліткового віку. Методи. У дослідженні взяли участь 14 осіб віком 14–16 років. Тренування з кросфіту тривалістю 1 год відбувалися тричі на тиждень упродовж двох місяців. До складу тренувань входили багатофункціональні комплексні вправи переважно силової спрямованості, які учасники виконували в аеробному режимі в зоні високої інтенсивності, тривалістю не більше ніж 20 хв. Для оцінювання якості життя застосовували анкету PedsQL™ (Generic Core, український варіант для респондентів віком 13–18 років). BackgroundAnxiety could be felt even in objectively peaceful situations, but a vision of conflict could result in increased stress levels. In this article, we aimed to identify hidden patterns of mental conditions and create male profiles to illustrate the different subgroups as well as determinants of anxiety levels among them in accordance with proximity to a possibility of direct exposure to military action.MethodsA sample of Ukrainian males, in duty as conscripts to military service (n = 392, M±SD = 22.1±5.3) participated in a survey. We used the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. In addition to psychological indices, social-demographic data were collected. To discover the number of clusters, the k-means algorithm was used, the optimal number of clusters was found by the elbow algorithm. For validation of the model and its use for further prediction, the random forest machine-learning algorithm, was used.ResultsBy performing k-means cluster analyses, 3 subgroups were identified. High values of psychological indices dominated in Subgroup 2, while lowest values dominated in Subgroup 3. Subgroup 1 showed a more even distribution among the indices. The strength of the relevance and main determinants of the prediction of the presented model mostly consisted of mental qualities, while socio-demographic data were slightly significant.ConclusionsThere is no clear relevance between proximity or even the experience of military actions and anxiety levels. Other factors, mostly subjective feelings about mental conditions, are crucial determinants of feeling anxiety.

Актуальність. На сьогодні легенева реабілітація – це втручання, яке рекомендоване всім пацієнтам із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів, незалежно від важкості перебігу захворювання, а засоби фізичної терапії є невід’ємною складовою частиною ефективних програм легеневої реабілітації. Поряд із великою кількістю досліджень про вплив програм ЛР загалом та окремих її компонентів на фізичний, функціональний та психоемоційний стан пацієнтів, детальних клінічних настанов із легеневої реабілітації при хронічних обструктивних захворюваннях легенів є обмежена кількість. Мета дослідження – проаналізувати клінічні настанови щодо менеджменту й легеневої реабілітації та оцінити місце фізичної терапії в системі легеневої реабілітації при хронічних обструктивних захворюваннях легенів. Проаналізовано клінічні настанови, відібрані на основі пошуку, здійсненого в базах даних PubMed (за останні п’ять років), PEDro, Cochrane в січні 2018 р., які стосуються клінічних настанов щодо лікування, менеджменту, легеневої реабілітації та фізичної терапії пацієнтів із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів. Установлено, що фізична терапія є невід’ємною складовою частиною програм легеневої реабілітації пацієнтів із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів. Головними засобами фізичної терапії, які рекомендовані клінічними настановами для пацієнтів із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів, є фізичне тренування, дихальні вправи, тренування дихальних м’язів, фізична терапія грудної клітки, електростимуляція периферичних м’язів. Найбільш повно описано методики застосування фізичного тренування в пацієнтів із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів. Відсутні або недостатні рекомендації щодо особливостей фізичної терапії при загостренні та в умовах стаціонарного лікування; недостатньо інформації стосовно місця й особливостей застосування дихальних вправ і фізичної терапії грудної клітки в пацієнтів із хронічними обструктивними захворюваннями легенів на різних етапах лікування.

Karate classes can positively affect the health of children and develop body and soul harmoniously. The purpose of the work is to examine the influence of physical education classes with a priority in application of oriental martial arts on the physical and psychophysical preparedness of preschool boys (n=71). Assessment of physical and psycho-physical preparedness for children was performed with the set of tests (standing long jump, throws of the ball against the wall and catching it, flexion and extension of arms lying on the floor, jumping with a rope to fatigue, raising of the body from the initial supine position, squats, writing the letter “O”, claps, pronouncing of digits, keeping the “Flamingo” pose). The children from the experimental group (n=33) were trained by the program with the priority in application of karate. Children from control group had Physical Education classes according Ukrainian State program for preschooler children “Sure Start”. The physical state and the level of psycho-physical fitness were rated as average. The implementation of the physical education program with the priority in application of karate has proven its higher efficacy compared to the traditional one. The program contributed significantly to raising the level of physical and mental fitness, overall assessment increased from 3.0 to 4.8 points in the experimental group. Better discipline, greater attention, higher mental capacity and less fatigue of children who attended the author’s program confirm that the classes with the priority of karate application can promote the full readiness of children for school.

The current relevance of the research. The history of the sport movement of the early twentieth century is characterized by a special phenomenon – a combination of Sport and Art. The Olympic Art Competitions are one of the most important cultural events of the age that was realized in the program of the Olympic Games. The article highlights the achievements of the prominent figures of the Olympic Art Competitions, which were held during the Olympic Games from 1912 to 1948. The aim of this study was to characterize the achievements of the outstanding figures at the Olympic Art Competitions. Methods: analysis and generalization of scientific literary sources, historical, theoretical interpretation. Results. The achievements of the prominent figures at the Olympic Art Competitions have been investigated. There are the presidents of the International Olympic Committee (Pierre de Coubertin, Avery Brundage), the multiple winners and prize-winners of Art Competitions (Jean Jacoby, Alex Walter Diggelmann, Werner March, Josef Petersen), the champions of the Olympic Games in sport competitions (Walter Winans, Alfred Hajos), the authors of the constructed sport facilities (Jan Wils, Walter March, Werner March) among them. Conclusions. It has been found out that during the period 1912–1948 the winners of the Olympic Art Competitions were leaders from 23 countries of the world. The total number of the awards won was 49 gold, 53 silver and 49 bronze ones. Two Presidents of the International Olympic Committee (Pierre de Coubertin, Avery Brundage) were discovered to participate in the Olympic Art Competitions. Luxembourg artist Jean Jacoby (2 gold awards), Swiss artist Alex Walter Diggelmann (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze medal), Danish writer Josef Petersen (3 silver awards), German architect Werner March (1 gold and 1 silver medal) were stated to be the most successful participants in the Olympic Art Competitions. People of art were proved not to be the only ones to compete at the Olympic Art Competitions. In the history of the Olympic Games two participants were both sport winners and Art Competitions winners (Walter Winans, Alfred Hajos).

Purpose: to establish the role of health-promoting schools in providing of life quality of youth of school age. Material & Methods: the project activity and its benefits for youth’s life of 69 health promoting schools were analyzed. 2108 students of 10–11 grades was surveyed. 1080 students was studied in health promoting school. Results: the objective conditions for life quality formation according project activities ‘Health promoting school’ were described. The factors that contribute high life quality level of school youth were identified with regression analysis. Conclusions: the increasing of odds ratio for life quality was identified for males (in 2,2–2,6 times), for respondents with high levels of physical activity (in 1,3–2,8 times) and respondents which studied in health promoting schools (in 2,3–3,1 times).

Purpose: to analyze the relationship between various parameters of life quality and physical activity level of older Ukrainian citizens. Material & Methods: 150 female aged 65,2±4,3 years were interviewed with MOS SF 36 and IPAQ questionnaire. Results: it is shown the values of scales Emotional role functioning (44,0 points), General Health (51,4 points) and Bodily Pain (52,2 points) can be considered as critical. Conclusions: statistically significant correlation between the numbers of metabolic equivalents used on physical activity during work (study), duration of active recreation was found.

Purpose: to formate the conceptual life quality model that defines the basic components of human well-being. Material and Methods: theoretical analysis, scientific and methodical literaturedata generalization, sociological and statistical methods. The 300 youth respondents, 98 adults of first mature age, 290 adults of second mature age and 150 elderly people were surveyed. Results: objective and subjective component was selected in life quality; the basic components of life quality was identified. Conclusions: physical component, psychological component, social activity, material component, development and identity, environment are the basic components of quality of life

Purpose: to describe the parameters of schoolchildren’s life quality. Material and Methods: the studies were conducted during 2012–2014 in L’viv region (Ukraine). 988 schoolchildren at the age of 15–16 years, 300 – at the age of 13–14 years, 406 – at the age of 11–12 years were surveyed with PedsQL questionnaire. Results: it was shown the respondents positively characterized the physical and social health, but their mental state was unsatisfactory. The amounts of children who had serious difficulties with basic physical activity and problems with social communication did not exceed 7%. Conclusions: the average life quality indicators were in the range 71,9–85,0 points and according scales Physical Health, Emotional Functioning, School Functioning significantly reduced with age.
