Abstract

Abstract: We derive a new analytical solution for the first-order, short-periodic perturbations due to planetary oblateness and systematically compare our results to the classical Brouwer–Lyddane transformation. Our approach is based on the Milankovitch vectorial elements and is free of all the mathematical singularities. Being a non-canonical set, our derivation follows the scheme used by Kozai in his oblateness solution. We adopt the mean longitude as the fast variable and present a compact power-series solution in eccentricity for its short-periodic perturbations that relies on Hansen’s coefficients. We also use a numerical averaging algorithm based on the fast-Fourier transform to further validate our new mean-to-osculating and inverse transformations. This technique constitutes a new approach for deriving short-periodic corrections and exhibits performance that are comparable to other existing and well-established theories, with the advantage that it can be potentially extended to modeling non-conservative orbit perturbations.

Abstract

A new agent architecture called Limited Instruction Set Agent (LISA) is introduced for autonomous control. The new architecture is based on previous implementations of AgentSpeak and it is structurally simpler than its predecessors with the aim of facilitating design-time and run-time verification methods. The process of abstracting the LISA system to two different types of discrete probabilistic models (DTMC and MDP) is investigated and illustrated. The LISA system provides a tool for complete modelling of the agent and the environment for probabilistic verification. The agent program can be automatically compiled into a DTMC or a MDP model for verification with Prism. The automatically generated Prism model can be used for both design-time and run-time verification. The run-time verification is investigated and illustrated in the LISA system as an internal modelling mechanism for prediction of future outcomes., Comment: Accepted at IEEE Conf. Abstract

The AgentSpeak type of languages are considered for decision making in autonomous control systems. To reduce the complexity and increase the verifiability of decision making, a limited instruction set agent (LISA) is introduced. The new decision method is structurally simpler than its predecessors and easily lends itself to both design time and runtime verification methods. The process of converting a control agent in LISA into a model in a probabilistic model checker is described. Due to the practical complexity of design time verification the feasibility of runtime probabilistic verification is investigated and illustrated in the LISA agent programming system for verifying symbolic plans of the agent using a probabilistic model checker.

Abstract

This thesis describes a new agent-based architecture called the Limited Instruction Set Agent (LISA). Agent-based systems are a popular approach to the implementation of autonomous behaviour, and they usually consist of a 'reasoning' module that commands lower level subsystems that in turn interact with the environment. When an autonomous system is placed in any environment, the correctness of the software must be guaranteed for safety. This is generally done with 'verification by model checking' which consists of creating a model, which represents the system and its interaction with the environment, and then proving specifications using the model. Most agent frameworks to date do not contemplate verification as a design feature and they generally share a few drawbacks: the generation of a model that can be verified by a model checking software is either done manually or by executing the agent code recursively and exploring every possible path to list the state space of the system. The LISA system is based on existing agent-based architectures and it is designed to be structurally simpler than its predecessors with the aim of facilitating the verification process. The agent program of LISA is enriched with structures that allow to model the probabilistic nature of environmental events, so that they can be taken into account in the verification process. The LISA program can be automatically translated to a verifiable probabilistic model suitable for verification with existing software tools such as PRISM. Furthermore, the system is structured to minimise the size of its probabilistic model, and ultimately offers a faster verification process. The thesis contains a number of theoretical contributions to the LISA programming system, including run-time verification for prediction of future outcomes of actions, and the new methods are illustrated on the programming and simulation with an example of autonomous surface vehicle for sea mine detection and disposal.

Abstract

Introduction: Iatrogenic acute aortic dissection (IAAD) type A is a rare but potentially fatal complication of cardiac surgery. Methods: The purpose of this article is to review the literature since the first reports of IAAD in 1978, examining its clinical characteristics and describing operative details and surgical outcomes. Moreover, we reviewed the recent literature to identify current trends and risk factors for IAAD in minimally invasive cardiac surgery procedures, often related to femoral artery cannulation for retrograde perfusion. Results: We found that IAAD ranges from 0.04 to 0.29% of cardiac patients in overall trials and ranged from 0.12 to 0.16% between 1978-1990, before the minimally invasive surgical era. And we concluded that since the first cases to the recent reports, the incidence of IAAD has not significantly changed. As minimally invasive procedures are on the rise, some authors think that the incidence of IAAD could increase in the future; we think that using all the precaution -- such a strict monitoring of perfusion pressure throughout the intervention, avoiding extremely high jet pressures using vasodilators, repositioning of arterial cannula, or splitting perfusion in both femoral arteries --, this complication can be extremely reduced. Finally, we describe a very singular case occurring during mitral valve replacement followed by spontaneous dissection of left anterior descending artery one month later. Conclusion: The present article adds to the literature a more detailed clinical picture of this entity, including patients' characteristics, the mechanism, timing, and localization of the tear, and mortality details. Abstract

International audience; Most cartographic stability maps advocated for use in the new passive debris removal ideology based on orbital resonances are obtained through crude averaging methods. This means that from an operational perspective, its not clear where in the osculating space one should actually target to place the satellite on a natural disposal trajectory. It is also not obvious what effects the short-periodic terms may have on these re-entry solutions. We will derive the periodic corrections terms for the dominant perturbations affecting Earth satellites and investigate these considerations.

Abstract

Cancers of appendix are very uncommon. As reported in the case of 85 years old man, that underwent right emicolectomy with restoration of bowel continuity, the appendix was found to be gangrenous and perforated during the surgery. The hystology that comes out was adenocarcinoma of appendix that after 1 yars of follow up ramanins asymptomatic. At last the emicolectomy rappresent the best surgical treatment for all appendix neoplasm, that could be recognised from the surgeon when possible wiht intraoperavite histological examination.Appendix, Cancer, Incidental diagnosis, Right emicolectomy.
