1. DETERMINATION OF METHANE SOURCEX GLOBALLY BY SCIAMACHY

Abstract: Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) has increased by nearly 30%, and the Methane (CH4) concentration has more than doubled. CH4 is the second most important greenhouse gas, after CO2. Emissions, extrapolated from measurements of actual gas flux from wetlands, vary from place to place, even within the same wetland. This high variability makes large-scale estimates difficult and means that average emissions levels include a large degree of estimated uncertainty. The SCIAMACHY instrument on the European Space Agency satellite ENVISAT measured greenhouse gases in the troposphere and stratosphere. In this study, the CH4 source area is extracted by estimating the concentrations of methane emissions from time-series satellite data. Contamination of the data by cloud is interpolated both spatially and temporally. It is assumed that methane emission is negligible over ocean and that the concentration in the ocean area is due to advection from land. Background CH4 concentration on land was defined as the ocean CH4 concentration at the same latitude. Land CH4 emission concentrations show that areas of concentrated high CH4 emission are not in paddy fields only but also in broadleaf evergreen areas in South America and Central Africa.

2. OBJECT-BASED CLASSIFICATION AND CHANGE DETECTION OF HOKKAIDO, JAPAN

Abstract: Topography and geology are factors to characterize the distribution of natural vegetation. Topographic contour is particularly influential on the living conditions of plants such as soil moisture, sunlight, and windiness. Vegetation associations having similar characteristics are present in locations having similar topographic conditions unless natural disturbances such as landslides and forest fires or artificial disturbances such as deforestation and man-made plantation bring about changes in such conditions. We developed a vegetation map of Japan using an object-based segmentation approach with topographic information (elevation, slope, slope direction) that is closely related to the distribution of vegetation. The results found that the object-based classification is more effective to produce a vegetation map than the pixel-based classification.

Abstract: The planetary topography has been the main focus of the in-orbital remote sensing. In spite of the recent development in active and passive sensing technologies to reconstruct three dimensional planetary topography, the resolution limit of range measurement is theoretically and practically obvious. Therefore, the extraction of inner topographical height variation within a measurement spot is very challengeable and beneficial topic for the many application fields such as the identification of landform, Aeolian process analysis and the risk assessment of planetary lander. In this study we tried to extract the topographic height variation over martian surface so called local roughness with different approaches. One method is the employment of laser beam broadening effect and the other is the multi angle optical imaging. Especially, in both cases, the precise pre processing employing high accuracy DTM (Digital Terrain Model) were introduced to minimise the possible errors. Since a processing routine to extract very high resolution DTMs up to 0.5–4m grid-spacing from HiRISE (High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment) and 20–10m DTM from CTX (Context Camera) stereo pair has been developed, it is now possible to calibrate the local roughness compared with the calculated height variation from very high resolution topographic products. Three testing areas were chosen and processed to extract local roughness with the co-registered multi sensor data sets. Even though, the extracted local roughness products are still showing the strong correlation with the topographic slopes, we demonstrated the potentials of the height variations extraction and calibration methods.

Abstract: A novel PIFA model with multiple shorting pins is proposed for multiband, low profile wireless applications, which has the ability to work in adverse conditions. The proposed model has a planar radiating sheet, a ground plane, and sides covered with PEC boundaries. The substrate inside the antenna box is tempered in order to improve the bandwidth and gain. The enhancements applied to the proposed PIFA model show improved characteristics for this PIFA model and make it a versatile candidate for handheld, low profile, and multiband resonant communication devices. Pertinent communication devices are those that work with GSM 850/900, UMTS 850/900/1700/1900/2100, LTE 2300/2500, and ISM 2400 bands used for Bluetooth and WLAN.

Abstract: Evolution of magnetism in single crystals of the van der Waals compound $\mathrm{V}{\mathrm{I}}_{3}$ in external pressure up to 7.3 GPa studied by measuring magnetization and ac magnetic susceptibility is reported. Four magnetic phase transitions, at ${T}_{1}=54.5\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}, {T}_{2}=53\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}, {T}_{\mathrm{C}}=49.5\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$, and ${T}_{\mathrm{FM}}=26\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$, respectively, have been observed at ambient pressure. The first two have been attributed to the onset of ferromagnetism in specific crystal-surface layers. The bulk ferromagnetism is characterized by the magnetic ordering transition at Curie temperature ${T}_{\mathrm{C}}$ and the transition between two different ferromagnetic phases ${T}_{\mathrm{FM}}$, accompanied by a structure transition from monoclinic to triclinic symmetry upon cooling. The pressure effects on magnetic parameters were studied with three independent techniques. ${T}_{\mathrm{C}}$ was found to be almost unaffected by pressures up to 0.6 GPa whereas ${T}_{\mathrm{FM}}$ increases rapidly with increasing pressure and reaches ${T}_{\mathrm{C}}$ at a triple point at \ensuremath{\approx} 0.85 GPa. At higher pressures, only one magnetic phase transition is observed moving to higher temperatures with increasing pressure to reach 99 K at 7.3 GPa. In contrast, the low-temperature bulk magnetization is significantly reduced by applying pressure (by more than 50% at 2.5 GPa) suggesting a possible pressure-induced reduction of vanadium magnetic moment. First-principles calculations of $\mathrm{V}{\mathrm{I}}_{3}$ under pressure allow us to ascribe the evolution of ${T}_{\mathrm{C}}$ with pressure to the reduction of interplanar distance, including the observed slope change at 0.6 GPa. These calculations also describe the associated band gap closing, showing that with a modest compression the material would become metallic. Overall, the large pressure range covered corresponds to a significant change of interplanar interactions. The obtained data thus allow us to shed light on how does the transition between the three-dimensional (3D) and quasi-2D system affect magnetic interactions in the system.

Abstract: We present direct photon-hadron correlations in 200 GeV/A Au+Au, d+Au, and p+p collisions, for direct photon pT from 5–12 GeV/c, collected by the PHENIX Collaboration in the years from 2006 to 2011. We observe no significant modification of jet fragmentation in d+Au collisions, indicating that cold nuclear matter effects are small or absent. Hadrons carrying a large fraction of the quark's momentum are suppressed in Au+Au compared to p+p and d+Au. As the momentum fraction decreases, the yield of hadrons in Au+Au increases to an excess over the yield in p+p collisions. The excess is at large angles and at low hadron pT and is most pronounced for hadrons associated with lower momentum direct photons. Comparison to theoretical calculations suggests that the hadron excess arises from medium response to energy deposited by jets.

Abstract: We present a comprehensive study of the short-ranged nuclear and magnetic order in the two-dimensional spin glass, ${\mathrm{Mn}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{Fe}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{PS}}_{3}$. Nuclear neutron scattering data reveal a random distribution of ${\mathrm{Mn}}^{2+}$ and ${\mathrm{Fe}}^{2+}$ ions within the honeycomb layers, which gives rise to a spin glass state through inducing competition between neighboring exchange interactions, indicated in magnetic susceptibility data by a cusp at the glass transition, ${T}_{g}=35$ K. Analysis of magnetic diffuse neutron scattering data collected for both single-crystal and polycrystalline samples gives further insight into the origin of the spin glass phase, with spin correlations revealing a mixture of satisfied and unsatisfied correlations between magnetic moments within the honeycomb planes, which can be explained by considering the magnetic structures of the parent compounds, ${\mathrm{MnPS}}_{3}$ and ${\mathrm{FePS}}_{3}$. We found that, on approaching ${T}_{g}$ from above, an ensemble-averaged correlation length of $\ensuremath{\xi}=5.5(6)\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\AA{}$ developed between satisfied correlations, and below ${T}_{g}$, the glassy behavior gave rise to a distance-independent correlation between unsatisfied moments. Correlations between the planes were found to be very weak, which mirrored our observations of rodlike structures parallel to the c* axis in our single-crystal diffraction measurements, confirming the two-dimensional nature of ${\mathrm{Mn}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{Fe}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{PS}}_{3}$.

15. Magnetic phase transitions in the LiNi0.9 M 0.1PO4 (M = Mn, Co) single crystals

Abstract: The LiNiPO4, LiNi0.9Mn0.1PO4, and LiNi0.9Co0.1PO4 single crystals are studied with heat capacity and neutron diffraction measurements over the temperature interval (10–30) K. Two peaks are observed on the temperature dependence of heat capacity for LiNiPO4, and LiNi0.9Co0.1PO4 samples. One peak indicates the first order phase transition from an antiferromagnetic commensurate (C) structure to an incommensurate (IC) one upon heating. According to neutron diffraction, in LiNiPO4 the IC ordering is described by the propagation vector k = 2π/b(0, 0.080, 0) at the Néel temperature T N = 20.8 K, and k = 2π/b(0, 0.098, 0) at T N = 20.2(1) K for LiNi0.9Co0.1PO4. A further increase in temperature leads to the second order phase transition to a paramagnetic state at critical temperature T IC = 21.7 K and 21.1 K for LiNiPO4 and LiNi0.9Co0.1PO4, respectively. The C and IC phases coexist over the temperature interval (20.6–20.8) K and (20.2–21.2) K in LiNiPO4 and LiNi0.9Co0.1PO4, respectively. In the LiNi0.9Mn0.1PO4 the magnetic phase transition occurs at T N = 22.7 K, but a magnetic scattering is observed up to 24.6 K.

Abstract: This study aims to assess the influence of esophagectomy with gastric transposition on the gastroesophageal reflux (GER) and gastric acidity in patients with esophageal cancer. Data on 53 esophageal cancer patients who underwent 24-hour impedance-pH monitoring after esophagectomy were retrospectively analyzed. We used a solid-state esophageal pH probe in which the esophageal pH sensor is placed 1.5 cm distal to the upper esophageal sphincter and the gastric pH sensor is located 15 cm distal to the esophageal pH channel. 24-hour impedance-pH monitoring data and other clinical data including anastomosis site stricture and incidence of pneumonia were collected. We defined pathologic reflux with reference to known normative data. Stricture was defined when an intervention such as bougienage or balloon dilatation was required to relieve dysphagia. Abstract: We present results of the combined study of the magnetic properties of Li2RuO3 by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and theoretical dynamical mean-field theory (LDA + DMFT) calculations. The NMR data clearly show the onset of a thermal activation process in the high temperature region, T > 560K, which is tentatively ascribed to the formation of the valence bond liquid. The LDA + DMFT calculations demonstrate that the magnetic response at these temperatures is mostly due to the xz/yz orbitals, while the xy orbitals of Ru still form molecular orbitals. Thus, Ru ions are in the orbital-selective state in the high temperature phase of Li2RuO3.

Abstract: Nowadays more and more attractive technologies have been introduced to the industries. And, major shipbuilding companies in South Korea have a strong will to rebound with these innovative technologies, as business conditions have not been good in recent years. Many people have a deep interest in the 4th Industrial Revolution. But, even though automation is the core of the 3rd industrial revolution, shipbuilding industry is far less automated than electronics and automotive industries. The reason is that the sizes of the products are so huge that there are a lot of outdoor works and the blocks have various forms. To make matters worse, the major shipyards in South Korea have been built for large ships and constantly optimized for those ships. However, as they begun to construct offshore projects, they experienced a lot of serious problems. The key to many serious problems was that shipyards did not fully recognize the importance of data continuity. In terms of design for offshore projects, the response to change management was not ready enough, and there was no proper means of change management. In other words, they started to construct projects without understanding the differences between ships and offshore projects. Fortunately, data continuity problems have been solved by 3D based DT technologies. This paper introduces various examples of how DT technologies have solved the problems faced in recent years. And, considering the future of the shipbuilding industry, this paper also suggests a digital platform, in order to ensure data continuity between companies including sub-contractors.

Abstract: Sr2Ni1-xMgxMoO6 (x = 0.25 and 0.5) double perovskites were synthesized by pyrolysis of glycerol–salt mixtures and their magnetic properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction was employed to refine crystal structures of these perovskite materials and set sample purity degree. The magnetic ground state of Sr2Ni1-xMgxMoO6 (x = 0.25 and 0.5) has been characterized using magnetic susceptibility measurements. They indicate that Sr2Ni0.75Mg0.25MoO6 is ordered in an antiferromagnetic state below 56 K while Sr2Ni0.5Mg0.5MoO6 is paramagnetic.

Abstract: This study aims to assess whether central-symmetric corneal thickness reduces off-centered corneal shift caused by intraocular pressure (IOP). In this retrospective study, 122 healthy eyes of 62 presbyopic patients, mostly myopic, were divided into two groups. Two distinct asymmetric corneal ablations were applied in peripheral presbyopia correction to produce central-symmetric corneal thickness, which reduces the off-centered corneal shift by utilizing intraocular pressure. The first method used a 90° angled combination in group 1 and the second method used a 45° angled combination in group 2. Target refraction was spherical equivalent of − 1D. Self-developed image processing algorithm analyzed the change in thickness and the posterior cone, and obtained two factors: central symmetry (f) and visual axis deviation (d), from each eye’s pre and postoperative maps of Orbscan II. UDVA and UNVA were also analyzed. In both groups, mean SE was about − 1D and there was no significant difference in UDVA. UNVA was better in group 2 than group 1. Only in group 2, corneal thickness and posterior cone became central-symmetric and the posterior corneal apex point relocated towards the visual axis. The p values were 0.03, 0.04, and 0.03, respectively. This is the first study to control corneal shape by utilizing the interaction between intraocular pressure and corneal thickness. Only group 2 was applied with asymmetric corneal ablation created by the 45° angled combination of semi-cylindrical ablation patterns, and intraocular pressure contributed significantly to reduce the off-centered corneal shift and reshaped the posterior corneal cone to the center.

Abstract: We report a measurement of e+e− pairs from semileptonic heavy-flavor decays in p+p collisions at sNN=200 GeV. The e+e− pair yield from bb¯ and cc¯ is separated by exploiting a double differential fit done simultaneously in dielectron invariant mass and pT. We used three different event generators, pythia, mc@nlo, and powheg, to simulate the e+e− spectra from cc¯ and bb¯ production. The data can be well described by all three generators within the detector acceptance. However, when using the generators to extrapolate to 4π, significant differences are observed for the total cross section. These difference are less pronounced for bb¯ than for cc¯. The same model dependence was observed in already published d+A data. The p+p data are also directly compared with d+A data in mass and pT, and within the statistical accuracy no nuclear modification is seen.

Abstract: Open Computing Language (OpenCL) is a programming model for heterogeneous parallel computing systems. OpenCL provides a common abstraction layer across general-purpose CPUs and different types of accelerators. Programmers write an OpenCL application once and then can run it on any OpenCL-compliant system. However, to target a heterogeneous cluster, programmers must use OpenCL in combination with a communication library. This chapter introduces SnuCL, a freely available, open-source OpenCL framework for heterogeneous clusters. SnuCL provides the programmer with an illusion of a single, unified OpenCL platform image for the cluster. SnuCL allows the OpenCL application to utilize compute devices in a compute node as though they were in the host node. In addition, SnuCL integrates multiple OpenCL platforms from different vendors into a single platform. It enables an OpenCL application to share OpenCL objects between compute devices from different vendors. As a result, SnuCL achieves high performance and ease of programming for heterogeneous systems.

25. Development and verification of accurate stopping control algorithm with scale models

Abstract: Accurate stopping technology that is used to stop a train precisely at a desired position has been continuously studied. Recently, this technology has become more important as platform screen doors have been installed in metro stations for passenger safety. Various algorithms have been proposed for accurate stopping. However, it requires a lot of time and money to verify experimentally the performance of novel algorithms with actual trains. Hence, it is difficult to improve and verify control performance with newly proposed algorithms. To resolve this problem, the authors propose to build a test bed for the accurate stopping control using scale models of train and track. After analysing the acceleration and deceleration characteristics of a specified train that is going to be equipped with a novel proposed algorithm, an adjuster is added to make the acceleration and deceleration characteristics of the scale model be similar to those of the target train. System identification was also performed by analysing the step response with various step input to the scale model. In this study, feedforward with proportional and integral (PI) controller was proposed, where gain parameters were determined based on the system characteristics analysed by experiments. The structure of the test bed and the process of building the test bed for the accurate stopping control are described in this paper. Experiment results are also provided to show the performance of the proposed controller. By being tested with this test bed, an improved control algorithm for the accurate stopping is expected to be derived.

Abstract: Measurements of the anisotropic flow coefficients v2{Ψ2},v3{Ψ3},v4{Ψ4}, and v4{Ψ2} for identified particles (π±,K±, and p+p) at midrapidity, obtained relative to the event planes Ψm at forward rapidities in Au + Au collisions at sNN=200GeV, are presented as a function of collision centrality and particle transverse momenta pT. The vn coefficients show characteristic patterns consistent with hydrodynamical expansion of the matter produced in the collisions. For each harmonic n, a modified valence quark-number Nq scaling [plotting vn{Ψm}/(Nq)n/2 versus transverse kinetic energies (KET)/Nq] is observed to yield a single curve for all the measured particle species for a broad range of KET. A simultaneous blast-wave model fit to the observed vn{Ψm}(pT) coefficients and published particle spectra identifies radial flow anisotropies ρn{Ψm} and spatial eccentricities sn{Ψm} at freeze-out. These are generally smaller than the initial-state participant-plane geometric eccentricities n{ΨmPP} as also observed in the final eccentricity from quantum interferometry measurements with respect to the event plane. © 2016 American Physical Society. Abstract: RAPD markers were used to analyze the genetic diversity among six populations of Taxus cuspidata collected from natural forests along the Baekdu trail in South Korea. Six of 10-mer primers were selected based on primary screening from group OPA01–OPA20 as single primers for PCR amplification. The primers OPA11 and OPA16 gave the fewest and the highest number of bands, respectively. A total of 93 bands were scored and 44 (47.31%) were polymorphic with polymorphism level ranging from 42.86% to 52.94% depending on the individual's origin and a mean of 48.11%. Shannon's information indices ranged from 0.368 (Deog yu Mt) to 1.342 (Jiri Mt), while the genetic diversity ranged from −0.141 (Deog yu Mt) to 0.328 (Jiri Mt and So baek Mt). Nei's genetic distance (D) varied from 0.182 (Ga chil Mt/Deog yu Mt) to 1.099 (Ga chil Mt/Tae baek Mt and So baek Mt/Tae baek Mt), which suggested a high level of genetic differentiation among pairs of populations. Abstract: Neutron diffraction experiments have been carried out to study the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of two (2b and 2d) Tm sublattices and four (4f, 6g, 12j, and 12k) Fe sublattices in ferrimagnetic compound Tm2Fe 17 (space group P63/mmc). We have determined the temperature dependence of the magnitude and orientation of magnetization for each of the thulium and iron sublattices in the range (10-300) K. A spontaneous rotation (at about 90 K) of the Tm and Fe sublattice magnetizations from the c-axis to the basal plane is accompanied by a drastic change in the magnetization magnitude, signifying a large magnetization anisotropy. Both Tm sublattices exhibit an easy-axis type of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The Fe sublattices manifest both the uniaxial and planar anisotropy types. The sublattice formed by Fe atoms at the 4f position reveals the largest planar anisotropy constant. The Fe atoms at the 12j position show a uniaxial anisotropy. We find that the inelastic neutron scattering spectra measured below and above the spin-reorientation transition are remarkably different. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Abstract: We report Raman scattering results of wurtzite ZnS nanowires, nanocombs, and nanobelts. The Raman spectrum obtained from ZnS nanowires exhibits first-order phonon modes at 272, 284, and 350 cm−1, corresponding to A1/E1 transverse optical, E2 transverse optical, and A1/E1 longitudinal optical phonons, respectively. Several multiphonon modes are also observed. The longitudinal optical phonon mode varies in wavenumber for nanocombs and nanobelts, indicating that the residual strain varies during the morphological change from ZnS nanowires to nanocombs and ultimately to nanobelts. Interestingly, a surface optical (SO) phonon mode varies in wavenumber depending on the shape and surface roughness of the ZnS nanostructures. The surface modulation wavelengths of the ZnS nanowires, nanocombs, and nanobelts are estimated using the SO phonon dispersion relations and the observed SO phonon wavenumbers. Abstract: Due to their ability to decrease the spread of infection, hand sanitizers are now ubiquitous in health care settings. We present the case of a 50-year-old woman who was admitted with acute alcohol intoxication and had near complete recovery in 12 hrs. Subsequently, she was found unresponsive on the floor of her hospital room on two separate occasions. Evaluations revealed repeatedly elevated levels of ethanol, acetone, and lactate as well as increased anion gap and hypotension, requiring intensive care unit evaluation and intubation for airway protection. During the second episode, she was found next to an empty bottle of ethanol-based hospital hand sanitizer. She confirmed ingesting hand sanitizer in order to become intoxicated.

Abstract: Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is characterized by increased rates of apoptotic hepatocytes and activated caspases have been shown in HCV-infected patients. GS-9450, a novel caspase-inhibitor has demonstrated hepatoprotective activity in fibrosis/apoptosis animal models. This study evaluated the effects of GS-9450 on peripheral T-cell apoptosis in chronic HCV-infected patients. As sub study of the GS-US-227-0102, a double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2a trial evaluating the safety and tolerability of GS-9450, apoptosis of peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells was measured using activated caspase-3, activated caspase-8 and CD95 (Fas). Blood samples were drawn at baseline, day 14 after therapy and at 5 weeks off-treatment follow-up in the first cohort of 10 mg. In contrast to the placebo-treated patients, GS-9450 caused a median of 46% decrease in ALT-values from baseline to day 14 in all treated patients (median of 118-64 U/l) rising again to a median of 140 U/l (19%) at 5 weeks off-treatment follow-up. In GS9450-treated patients, during treatment and follow-up, percentages of activated caspase-3+ and caspase-8 expression tended to decrease, in contrast to placebo-treated patients. Interestingly, compared to healthy controls, higher percentages of caspase-3 and caspase-8 positive CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells were demonstrated in HCV-infected patients at baseline. Decreased ALT-values were observed in all HCV-infected patients during treatment with low dose of the caspase-inhibitor GS-9450 accompanied by a lower expression of caspase-3 and -8 on peripheral T-cells. Furthermore, at baseline percentages of activated caspase-3, activated caspase-8 and CD95+ T-cells were higher in chronic HCV-infected patients compared to healthy controls.

Abstract: The crystal and magnetic structures of hexagonal manganites YMnO3 and LuMnO3 have been studied by powder neutron diffraction up to 6 GPa in the temperature range of 10–300 K. At ambient pressure, a triangular antiferromagnetic (AFM) state of a Γ1 irreducible representation is stable below T N=70 K in YMnO3. Upon application of high pressure, a spin-reorientation was observed and the triangular AFM structure evolves from Γ1 to Γ1+Γ2 representation symmetry. In LuMnO3, the triangular AFM state of a Γ2 symmetry with T N ≈ 95 K remains stable in the investigated pressure range. The ordered Mn magnetic moment is suppressed at high pressure and low temperature, with much more pronounced effects for YMnO3, indicating enhanced spin fluctuations due to stronger magnetic frustration of the triangular lattice under higher pressure. The relationship between the evolution of spin fluctuations and in-plane Mn–O bonds under pressure is analyzed.

Abstract: A HfO2 as the charge-storage layer with the physical thickness thinner than 4nm in silicon-oxide-high-k oxide-oxide-silicon (SOHOS) flash memory was investigated. Compared to the conventional silicon-oxide-nitride-oxide-silicon (SONOS) flash memory, the SOHOS shows the slow operational speed and exhibits the poorer retention characteristics. These are attributed to the thin physical thickness below 4nm and the crystallization of the HfO2 to contribute the lateral migration of the trapped charge in the trapping layer during high temperature annealing process.

Abstract: Measurements of the fractional momentum loss $({S}_{\mathrm{loss}}\ensuremath{\equiv}\ensuremath{\delta}{p}_{T}/{p}_{T})$ of high-transverse-momentum-identified hadrons in heavy-ion collisions are presented. Using ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ in $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ and $\mathrm{Cu}+\mathrm{Cu}$ collisions at $\sqrt{{s}_{{}_{NN}}}=62.4$ and 200 GeV measured by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and and charged hadrons in $\mathrm{Pb}+\mathrm{Pb}$ collisions measured by the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, we studied the scaling properties of ${S}_{\mathrm{loss}}$ as a function of a number of variables: the number of participants, ${N}_{\mathrm{part}}$, the number of quark participants, ${N}_{\mathrm{qp}}$, the charged-particle density, $d{N}_{\mathrm{ch}}/d\ensuremath{\eta}$, and the Bjorken energy density times the equilibration time, ${\ensuremath{\varepsilon}}_{\mathrm{Bj}}{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{0}$. We find that the ${p}_{T}$, where ${S}_{\mathrm{loss}}$ has its maximum, varies both with centrality and collision energy. Above the maximum, ${S}_{\mathrm{loss}}$ tends to follow a power-law function with all four scaling variables. The data at $\sqrt{{s}_{{}_{NN}}}=200$ GeV and 2.76 TeV, for sufficiently high particle densities, have a common scaling of ${S}_{\mathrm{loss}}$ with $d{N}_{\mathrm{ch}}/d\ensuremath{\eta}$ and ${\ensuremath{\varepsilon}}_{\mathrm{Bj}}{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{0}$, lending insight into the physics of parton energy loss.

Abstract: Measurements of midrapidity charged particle multiplicity distributions, $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$, and midrapidity transverse-energy distributions, $dE_T/d\eta$, are presented for a variety of collision systems and energies. Included are distributions for Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$, 130, 62.4, 39, 27, 19.6, 14.5, and 7.7 GeV, Cu$+$Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ and 62.4 GeV, Cu$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV, U$+$U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=193$ GeV, $d$$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV, $^{3}$He$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV, and $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV. Centrality-dependent distributions at midrapidity are presented in terms of the number of nucleon participants, $N_{\rm part}$, and the number of constituent quark participants, $N_{q{\rm p}}$. For all $A$$+$$A$ collisions down to $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=7.7$ GeV, it is observed that the midrapidity data are better described by scaling with $N_{q{\rm p}}$ than scaling with $N_{\rm part}$. Also presented are estimates of the Bjorken energy density, $\varepsilon_{\rm BJ}$, and the ratio of $dE_T/d\eta$ to $dN_{\rm ch}/d\eta$, the latter of which is seen to be constant as a function of centrality for all systems.

Abstract: Colorectal cancer has been reported to be the malignancy most frequently associated with gastric cancer in Korea. The aim of this study was to define the frequency and clinical characteristics of synchronous gastric cancer detected at preoperative esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in colorectal cancer patients. This prospective study analyzed the EGD results from 1,542 consecutive colorectal cancer patients who underwent surgery from January 2003 to December 2005 at the Center for Colorectal Cancer, National Cancer Center, Korea. Of the 1,542 cases, 1,155 (74.9%) underwent EGD at our center and 387 underwent EGD at other hospitals within 6 months before surgery. Of the 1,542 cases, synchronous gastric cancers were detected in 31 cases (2.0%). Of these 31 cases, 26 had early gastric cancer (EGC; 83.9%) and 5 had advanced gastric cancer. Ten (38.5%) of the 26 EGC cases were managed using endoscopic mucosal resection. Compared to colorectal cancer patients without synchronous gastric cancer, the group of patients with synchronous gastric cancer was older (65.5 ± 9.6 vs 58.4 ± 11.3 years, p = 0.001) and had a greater proportion of males (77.4 vs 59.4%, p = 0.043). This study found that 2% of Korean sporadic colorectal cancer patients had synchronous gastric cancer. A preoperative EGD for colorectal cancer patients is likely to greatly assist in the diagnosis of synchronous gastric cancer at an early stage and the implementation of appropriate minimally invasive treatment.

Abstract: In spite of a proven potential and effectiveness of FlexE in docking flexible ligands into an ensemble of protein structures, FlexE has rarely been successful in virtual screening situations. In this study, we constructed cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) ensemble structures which have exactly the same backbone conformations as 1AQ1 but differ only at the side chain torsion angles of the key amino acid (Lys33, Phe80, Lys89 and Asp145) residues: the torsion angles observed in the 17 CDK2 crystal structures were adapted to represent conformational flexibility. FlexE ensemble docking protocol then completely samples the full conformational fields generated by combination of torsions of the four amino acids in the ATP binding site. Virtual screening for CDK2 inhibitors by using the FlexE ensemble docking of a database composed of 48,703 inactives and 82 actives showed significant enrichment factor (EF = 18.5), and successfully identified 71 actives among the top 132 ligands (53.8%) ranked by total energy score...

Abstract: The Tb0.1Tm0.9Co2 compound is investigated using neutron diffraction. It is shown that this compound undergoes an irreversible band metamagnetic transition induced by an external magnetic field. The magnetization of the Co sublattice increases from 0.2 to 0.6 μB. The critical field strength is approximately equal to 1 T at temperatures of 1.8 and 4.0 K. As the temperature increases, the effect of the magnetic field on the magnetic state of the sample weakens and, at 25 K, no noticeable changes are observed in an external field of 0.75 T. The metamagnetic transition at 1.8 K is accompanied by the disappearance of rhombohedral distortions and brings about a lattice expansion by approximately 1%.

Abstract: The crystalline and magnetic structures of YMnO3 and LuMnO3 hexagonal manganites under pressures of 0–6 GPa and in the temperature range 10–295 K have been investigated by neutron diffraction. Application of pressure leads to a significant decrease in the ordered magnetic moment of Mn ions (at T = 10 K) from 3.27 (0 GPa) to 1.52 μB (5 GPa) for YMnO3 and from 2.48 (0 GPa) to 1.98 μB (6 GPa) for LuMnO3. Under high pressures, spin reorientation of Mn magnetic moments and a change in the symmetry of the antiferromagnetic structure are observed in YMnO3. The relationship between the triangular lattice distortion parameter and the symmetry of the triangular antiferromagnetic state of RMnO3 hexagonal manganites is discussed.

Abstract: HANARO is a 30 MW multi-purpose research reactor located at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) with a maximum thermal flux of 5.4 × 1014 n/cm2/s. It reached first criticality in 1995. As part of its present cold neutron project, the KAERI selected disk chopper time-of-flight (DC-TOF) spectrometer as one of the day-one instruments. In this report, we present the current design of our DC-TOF. In order to optimize the design parameters of DC-TOF and its guide layout, we made full use of two Monte-Carlo simulation codes, VITESS and McStas. We have also optimized technical parameters using analytical tools, whenever possible.

Abstract: The effect of a high pressure (up to 6 GPa) on the crystal and magnetic structure of the hexagonal manganite LuMnO3 is studied by neutron diffraction in the temperature range 10–295 K. It is found that, as the pressure increases, the ordered magnetic moment of Mn ions at T = 10 K decreases noticeably from 2.48 (0 GPa) to 1.98 μB (6 GPa). This decrease is due to an enhancement of the geometrical frustration effects on the triangular lattice. At the same time, the symmetry of the triangular antiferromagnetic state (the irreducible representation Γ2) remains unchanged. A correlation is revealed between the distortion parameter of the triangular lattice formed by Mn ions and the symmetry of the antiferromagnetic state of hexagonal manganites RMnO3. Based on this correlation, a generalized magnetic phase diagram of these compounds is constructed. The obtained phase diagram provides an explanation for the changes observed in the magnetic state of hexagonal manganites caused by high pressure and chemical substitution.

Abstract: Based on a same glass composition, the compatibilities in cofiring between low-K and high-K hybrid low-temperature co-firing ceramics material systems were studied. By designing a lithium borosilicate glass frit system carefully, we developed an optimum glass frit system for both low-K and high-K dielectric fillers. The effects of glass addition on the densification and electrical properties in low-K and high-K dielectric materials were examined. By adjusting glass compositions and contents, we tried to match low-K and high-K tapes physically and chemically.

Abstract: Magnetization and neutron diffraction have been measured to study the peculiarities of magnetic ordering of powder and single crystal TbNi 5 samples over the temperature region 2–30 K. Two spontaneous magnetic transitions have been revealed: the second order transition from an incommensurate structure to paramagnetic state ( T p = 24 K ) and the first order transition from an incommensurate structure to a lock-in phase ( T f c = 10 K ). Magnetic satellites are observed at all temperatures below T p . The magnetic structure is described by two wave vectors k 1 = 0 and k 2 = 2 π / c ( 0 , 0 , q ) , where q is equal to 0.0182≈1/55 at 2 K.
