24. Optimal Relay Location in Diffusion Based Molecular Communications

Abstract

Molecular Communications via Diffusion (MCvD) is a promising paradigm which enables nano-machines to communicate with each other. However, the reliability of existing systems degrade rapidly as the distance between the transmitters and the receivers grows. To solve this issue, relaying schemes must be implemented in practice. In this paper, we study two relaying schemes: In the first case, the relay node decodes the incoming signal symbol and forwards it to the receiver using a different type of molecule. Then, the receiver detects the information bits by only considering the molecules from the relay node. In the second case, the receiver considers both the types of molecules sent from the transmitter and the relay node. For these two scenarios, the optimal location of the relay node is obtained. We assume Quadruple Concentration Shift Keying (QCSK) modulation in which the signal is encoded into the four level concentrations of molecules emitted by the nano-machines. Abstract

This article discusses a case of a sellar gangliocytoma that was initially mistaken for an enlarging pituitary adenoma. The patient, a 62-year-old male, presented with memory loss and imaging revealed a sellar mass. Despite negative hormonal workup and no conflict with the optic apparatus, the tumor continued to grow, prompting surgical intervention. The surgery was successful, with no complications, and the final pathology confirmed a World Health Organization (WHO) Grade 1 gangliocytoma. Abstract

Among the important needs of human societies are the reduction of biological pollution and the use of environmentally friendly and inexpensive solvents. For the synthesis of medicinally important heterocycles, there is a need for an easy, efficient, and environmentally friendly catalytic protocol through multicomponent reaction (MCR). In this regard, the construction of multi-functional composites has been considered. A novel magnetic graphite carbon nitride decorated by tri-vanadium substituted Dawson-type heteropolytungstate nanocomposite (C3N4/Fe3O4@P2W15V3) effectively synthesized and characterized by prevalent functional analysis. This heterogeneous catalyst produced various tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives in the presence of ethanol as a green solvent. Among the advantages observed for this method is the presence of a heterogeneous and reusable catalyst that is easily isolated and provides a high yield of products in a very short reaction time with high purity.
