Abstract Background Adequate level of carbohydrates in aquafeeds help to conserve protein and reduce cost. However, studies have indicated that high-carbohydrate (HC) diet disrupt the homeostasis of the gut–liver axis in largemouth bass, resulting in decreased intestinal acetate and butyrate level. Method Herein, we had concepted a set of feeding experiment to assess the effects of dietary sodium acetate (SA) and sodium butyrate (SB) on liver health and the intestinal microbiota in largemouth bass fed an HC diet. The experimental design comprised 5 isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets, including LC (9% starch), HC (18% starch), HCSA (18% starch; 2 g/kg SA), HCSB (18% starch; 2 g/kg SB), and HCSASB (18% starch; 1 g/kg SA + 1 g/kg SB). Juvenile largemouth bass with an initial body weight of 7.00 ± 0.20 g were fed on these diets for 56 d. Results We found that dietary SA and SB reduced hepatic triglyceride accumulation by activating autophagy (ATG101, LC3B and TFEB), promoting lipolysis (CPT1α, HSL and AMPKα), and inhibiting adipogenesis (FAS, ACCA, SCD1 and PPARγ). In addition, SA and SB decreased oxidative stress in the liver (CAT, GPX1α and SOD1) by activating the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway. Meanwhile, SA and SB alleviated HC-induced inflammation by downregulating the expression of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-1β, COX2 and Hepcidin1) through the NF-κB pathway. Importantly, SA and SB increased the abundance of bacteria that produced acetic acid and butyrate (Clostridium_sensu_stricto_1). Combined with the KEGG analysis, the results showed that SA and SB enriched carbohydrate metabolism and amino acid metabolism pathways, thereby improving the utilization of carbohydrates. Pearson correlation analysis indicated that growth performance was closely related to hepatic lipid deposition, autophagy, antioxidant capacity, inflammation, and intestinal microbial composition. Conclusions In conclusion, dietary SA and SB can reduce hepatic lipid deposition; and alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation in largemouth bass fed on HC diet. These beneficial effects may be due to the altered composition of the gut microbiota caused by SA and SB. The improvement effects of SB were stronger than those associated with SA.

Conceptualizing and measuring instructional quality is important to understand what can be understood as “good teaching” and develop approaches to improve instruction. There is a consensus in teaching effectiveness research that instructional quality should be considered multidimensional with at least three basic dimensions rather than a unitary construct: student support, cognitive activation, and classroom management. Many studies have used this or similar frameworks as a foundation for empirical research. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relation between the conceptual indicators underlying the conceptual definitions of the quality dimensions in the literature, and the various operational indicators used to operationalize these factors in empirical studies. We examined (a) which conceptual indicators are used to conceptualize the basic dimensions theoretically, (b) to which extent the operational indicator in the literature cover these conceptual indicators, and (c) if which additional indicators are addressed by the measurement instruments, which are not part of the theoretical conceptualization. We conducted a systematic literature review on the conceptualization and operationalization of Instructional Quality in Primary and Secondary Mathematics Education based on PRISMA procedures. We describe the span of conceptual indicators connected to the three basic dimensions over all articles (a) and analyze to which extent the measurement instruments are in line with these conceptual indicators (b, c). For each measurement dimension, the identified quality dimensions identified are, taken together, largely representative of the conceptual indicators connected to the core factor, but also a number of critical misconceptions occurred. Our review provides a comprehensive overview of the three basic dimensions of instructional quality in mathematics based on theoretical conceptualizations and measurement instruments in the literature. Beyond this, we observed that the descriptions of a substantial amount of quality dimensions and their conceptualizations did not clearly specify if the intended measurement referred to the learning opportunities orchestrated by the teacher, or the utilization of these opportunities by students. It remains a challenge to differentiate measures of instructional quality (as orchestrated by the teacher) from (perceived) teacher competencies/knowledge, and students’ reactions to the instruction. Recommendations are made for measurement practice, as well as directions for future research.

General aviation is an important branch of the aviation field. As a green energy aircraft, the electric aircraft is an important component and development direction of general aviation aircraft, and its safety is crucial. In this paper, the aerodynamic and dynamic characteristics of electric aircraft under collision, lightning strikes, and icing conditions are studied, and the dynamic and kinematics models of the aircraft are established by introducing damage factors. The STAR-CCM+ software is used to simulate the aerodynamic force and aerodynamic moment in the case of combined airframe damage. Based on the estimation ability of the L1 adaptive control algorithm for the parameter uncertainty of the controlled object and the automatic adjustment ability of control output, a fault-tolerant control law for electric aircraft is designed in the case of wing damage, horizontal tail damage after a collision, horizontal tail icing, and wing lightning damage. The results show that the control law has good fault-tolerant control ability for combined airframe damage of electric aircraft, and the control system has adaptability, anti-interference, and robustness, which has a good engineering reference significance for flight safety control of other transport aircraft.

To design a new type of fully automatic intelligent milk dispenser that is different from traditional milk preparation methods, which is based on Internet technology and combined with artificial intelligence. Its structure mainly includes: shell, water tank, milk powder bucket, cover, mixing bin, sealer, control panel and heating transfer plate. Among them, the control panel includes a main control circuit board, a music sound and light module, a temperature display module, a milk/flush module, a temperature control module, and a wireless receiving module. The controls of these control panels are all connected to the main control circuit board. Compared with the traditional intelligent milk dispenser, this method incorporates functions such as high-pressure steam sterilization, automatic micro-stirring, remote control, and automatic bottle sealing in the operation, making the process more scientific and reasonable. More importantly, it helps to reduce the tedious workload of medical staff, reduce environmental pollution, and reduce the risk of intestinal infections in infants and young children. BACKGROUND:The head-tilt/chin-lift (HT/CL) maneuver is simple and routinely used to open a closed upper airway. OBJECTIVES:It has yet to be determined whether increasing the HT/CL angle further would be beneficial. METHODS:We enrolled 60 (30 males) 20-year-old conscious participants. Pre-HT/CL, post-HT/CL #1, and post-HT/CL #2 positions were defined as positions in which the angle between the ear-eye line and the horizontal line was 80°, 65°, and 50°, respectively. Peak exploratory flow rates (PEFRs) pre-HT/CL, post-HT/CL #1, and post-HT/CL #2 positions were recorded continuously at 1-minute intervals (one set). Five sets of measurements were performed (total, 15 measurements for each participant). RESULTS:We analysed 900 measurements (180 sets). The mean PEFRs pre-HT/CL, post-HT/CL #1, and post-HT/CL #2 positions were 348.4 ± 96.9, 366.4 ± 104.9, and 378.8 ± 111.2 L/min (percentage change compared to pre-HT/CL, 5.2% and 8.7%), respectively. Significant differences were observed among pre-HT/CL, post-HT/CL #1, and post-HT/CL #2 positions in all participants, as well as in subgroup classified according to sex, and medians of height, body weight, and body mass index. CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that a greater HT/CL angle would be beneficial, as the PEFR increased gradually. The decreasing manner in the PEFR increase with the HT/CL angle implies the existence of an angle threshold beyond which there were no further benefits in airflow, indicating a minimum in airway resistance. A HT/CL maneuver may be appropriate until locking the atlanto-occipital and cervical spine joints in extension occurs and the chest (sternal notch) begins to rise.

Probiotics are consumed in a wide variety of fermented foods to improve health. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Lactobacillus helveticus-fermented milk (LHFM), on cognitive function in healthy older adults. A 12-week, double-blind, randomized controlled experiment was conducted. Cognitive tests (neuropsychological and cognitive fatigue) and measurements of the perceived stress scale (PSS), geriatric depression scale-short form (GDS-SF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and whole blood viscosity (WBV) were conducted before and after the experiment. The administration of LHFM for 12 weeks in healthy older adults produced improvement on cognitive tests compared to the placebo group. However, no significant effects were observed for PSS, GDS-SF, BDNF, and WBV. Thus, consumption of LHFM might be beneficial for improving cognitive function.

Bojungikki-Tang (BJIKT) is traditionally used to enhance digestive function and immunity. It has gained attention as a supplement to chemotherapy or targeted therapy owing to its immune-boosting properties. This study aimed to evaluate the synergistic anti-tumor effects of BJIKT in combination with pembrolizumab in a preclinical model. MHC I/II double knockout NSG mice were humanized with peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and injected subcutaneously with H460 lung tumor cells to establish a humanized tumor model. Both agents were administered to evaluate their impact on tumor growth and immune cell behavior. Immunohistochemistry showed decreased exhaustion markers in CD8(+) and CD4(+) T cells within the tumor, indicating enhanced T cell activity. Additionally, RNA sequencing, transcriptome analysis, and quantitative PCR analysis were performed on tumor tissues to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the observed effects. The results confirmed that BJIKT improved T cell function and tumor necrosis factor signaling while suppressing transforming growth factor-β signaling. This modulation led to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. These findings demonstrate that BJIKT, when combined with pembrolizumab, produces significant anti-tumor effects by altering immune pathways and enhancing the anti-tumor immune response. Herbs, such as Aconitum carmichaeli Debeaux (ACD), have long been used as therapies, but it is difficult to identify which organs of the human body are affected by the various compounds. In this study, we predicted the organ where the drug predominantly acts using bioinformatics and verified it using transcriptomics. We constructed a computer-aided brain system network (BSN) and intestinal system network (ISN). We predicted the action points of ACD using network pharmacology (NP) analysis and predicted the dockable proteins acting in the BSN and ISN using statistical-based docking analysis. The predicted results were verified using ACD-induced transcriptome analysis. The predicted results showed that both the NP and docking analyses predominantly acted on the BSN and showed better hit rates in the hub nodes. In addition, we confirmed through verification experiments that the SW1783 cell line had more than 10 times more differentially expressed genes than the HT29 cell line and that the dominant acting organ is the brain, using network dimension spanning analysis. In conclusion, we found that ACD preferentially acts in the brain rather than in the intestine, and this multi-bioinformatics-based approach is expected to be used in future studies of drug efficacy and side effects.
