Plasmonics offers a promising framework for next-generation photonic applications, including optical tweezers, ultrafast lasing, and quantum communication. Integrating plasmonics into photonics enables efficient interface coupling between heterogeneous systems, resulting in enhanced performance and diverse functionality. This review presents various unique encapsulation methods for developing plasmonics-embedded hybrid nanocomposite systems. Recent progress in the manipulation mechanisms of encapsulated plasmons is systematically summarized, offering an active modulation platform for optimizing optical performance. Considering the opportunities and challenges, the advancement of tunable encapsulated plasmons exhibits promising prospects, as demonstrated by a section discussing recent significant progress in photonic applications.

Photonic integrated circuits require photodetectors that operate at room temperature with sensitivity at telecom wavelengths and are suitable for integration with planar complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology. Silicon hyperdoped with deep-level impurities is a promising material for silicon infrared detectors because of its strong room-temperature photoresponse in the short-wavelength infrared region caused by the creation of an impurity band within the silicon band gap. In this work, we present the first experimental demonstration of lateral Te-hyperdoped Si PIN photodetectors operating at room temperature in the optical telecom bands. We provide a detailed description of the fabrication process, working principle, and performance of the photodiodes, including their key figure of merits. Our results are promising for the integration of active and passive photonic elements on a single Si chip, leveraging the advantages of planar CMOS technology.

© 2019 The Author(s). Background: Normal delivery is a natural and physiological process with numerous benefits for mother and baby. Giving birth by Caesarean Section (CS) should be limited to the cases in which normal delivery is not possible. The purpose of the study was to determine the attitudes of pregnant women towards Normal Delivery and factors driving the use of Caesarian Section in Kermanshah, Iran. Methods: This analytical-descriptive study was conducted on 410 pregnant women referred to the PHC centers in Kermanshah in western Iran. They had been selected through a multi-stage sampling method, including clustering, randomized, and proportional sampling, from among all eligible women. Data was collected using a questionnaire standardized by previous studies. The level of 0.05 was considered significance association, whenever applied. Results: The mean and standard deviation for participant age was 27.65 ± 5.37 years. The median score for participant attitude was 60.7 ± 9.5 (range from 22 to 85). Generally, 21.5% had a negative attitude toward normal delivery and preferred CS. Participant attitude was negatively correlated with a pregnant woman's age, lower age, and a more positive attitude towards vaginal childbirth. The attitude of women with a history of normal delivery was 63 ± 9 and for those with a history of CS was 56.7 ± 9.3, significantly different. Conclusion: Most women had a positive attitude towards normal delivery, particularly those who had experienced normal delivery in their previous childbirth. Although only a quarter of the participants had a negative attitude toward normal delivery, this figure still was of utmost significance, therefore educational interventions, specifically encouraging women with history of normal delivery to consult their peers, are recommended.

Subduction-related adakite-type intrusive rocks emplaced into the late Cretaceous-Paleocene Sabzevar ophiolite zone, northeast Iran, range from Mg-andesite to rhyodacite in composition. Here we investigate the magma supply system to these subvolcanic intrusive rocks by applying thermobarometric mineral and mineral-melt equilibrium models, including amphibole thermobarometry, plagioclase-melt thermobarometry and clinopyroxene-melt barometry. Based on the results of these thermobarometric models, plagioclase crystallized dominantly at pressures of similar to 350 (130 to 468) MPa, while amphiboles record both low pressures (similar to 300 MPa) and very high pressures (> 700 MPa) of crystallization. The latter is supported by the calculated pressures for clinopyroxene crystallization (550 to 730 MPa). The association of amphibole with clinopyroxene and no plagioclase in the most primitive samples (Mg-andesites) is consistent with amphibole fractionation from very hydrous magmas at deep crustal levels of the plumbing system, which may have been a key process in intensifying adakite-type affinities in this rock suite. Barometry, combined with frequent disequilibrium features such as oscillatory-zoned and sieve-textured plagioclase crystals with An-rich overgrowths in more evolved samples, implies that final magma differentiation occurred in an open upper crustal magma system that developed progressively stronger compositional modifications during high-level magma storage.
