Abstract

This paper explores the concept of islands in international law and its implications for the South China Sea dispute. Islands are important for various reasons, such as territorial sovereignty, maritime rights, and natural resources. However, the legal binding definition of artificial islands has not been enacted by any international document until now. This paper traces the historical development of the concept of islands, from the Hague Conference in 1930 to the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982. It also analyses the challenges and opportunities of artificial islands, which are man-made structures that can serve different purposes but can also create various legal and environmental problems. Artificial islands are especially relevant for the South China sea dispute, which involves multiple costal states, while China has significant geopolitical and economic implications. This paper argues that the South China Sea dispute can be resolved through cooperation and dialogue, based on international law framework. Taking into account the provisions of UNCLOS, South China Sea dispute, state practise, and legal scholarship, this article aims to unpack the complexities surrounding artificial island and implications of artificial islands on the international relations. 5. Corrosion Properties and Bond Strength in Normal Strength Concrete of Al 2 O 3 Plasma-Sprayed Plain Bars with ZrCC/Organofunctional Silane Coating.

Abstract

In this study, the corrosion properties of plasma-sprayed Al2O3 coating (APSS) with a topcoat of zirconium-based conversion coating (ZrCC) and organofunctional silane coating (3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane; GPTMS) on carbon steel are investigated in detail. Additionally, the bond strength of plain steel bars coated with this system in normal strength concrete are newly tested. The APSS coating exhibits significant porosity, with unfavourable open pores limiting the barrier protection effect. In contrast, the surface roughness (Ra) significantly increases, improving the bond strength between steel bars and concrete. Such increase in carbon steel roughness improves bond strength in concrete. The synergic application of ZrCC and GPTMS topcoats significantly enhances the corrosion resistance of the base coat (inhibition effect). The character of the GPTMS coating increases the wettability of the APSS coating, which further positively contributes to bond strength between plain bars and concrete. It is demonstrated that when the ZrCC topcoat is applied without GPTMS, the corrosion resistance increases insignificantly and the surface wettability decreases, negatively affecting bond strength in comparison with carbon steel coated using an APSS base coat only. Abstract

1 Legal regulation of islands and artificial islands from perspective of international maritime law Abstract This master thesis deals with the historical development of the natural and artificial islands and their anchoring in the current legislation. Other parts of the work are devoted to the typological division of artificial islands according to their possible use and outlining the possibilities of states to build artificial islands in marine zones. Since the adoption of the Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982, there has been no significant codification or international conference on the subject. The only substantial dispute in the last decade over artificial island issues has been arbitration in the South China Sea dispute. The first part of the diploma thesis illustrates the historical development of the legal regulation of the law of the sea from the 15th century to the present. In the 20th century, attention was paid mainly to prevailing opinions and proposals concerning the legal definition of artificial and natural islands. The most important conferences of the 20th century on the topic of islands were the Hague Conference in 1930, the First Conference on the Law of the Sea in 1958 and the Third Conference on the Law of the Sea in 1982. 11. Analýza hlavních komponent při identifikaci větrných ramp

Abstract

Cílem práce je analýza časové řady generované větrné energie za účelem identifikace a předpovědi prudkých nárůstů a poklesů v krátkém časovém horizontu. V rámci implementační části bude vytvořen software, který bude automaticky analyzovat načtená data. Provede identifikaci větrných ramp dle různých definic, dle zadané citlivosti. Automaticky vygeneruje tabulky podmíněných pravděpodobností větrné rampy v závislosti na hodnotách hlavních komponent. V závěru bude provedena verifikace výsledků analýzy hlavních komponent. Dle tabulek podmíněných pravděpodobností a aktuálních hodnot hlavních komponent bude předpovězen prudký nárůst či pokles generované větrné energie., The aim of this work is to analyze the time series generated by wind power in order to identify and forecast sharp rise and fall in the short term. As part of the implementation, a software will be created that will automatically analyze the retrieved data. The software will identify the wind ramps according to various definitions, according to the desired sensitivity. It will automatically generate a table of conditional probabilities of wind ramps depending on the values of the main components. In the end, it will verify the results by principal component analysis. Cílem práce je provést analýzu možných řešení pro síťová datová úložiště využitelná pro firmu středního rozsahu a na základě SWOT analýzy navrhnout vhodná řešení. Budou představeny přístupy pro datová úložiště využívající lokální infrastrukturu a cloud řešení. Dále bude provedeno dotazníkové šetření, jehož výsledky budou zohledněny pro analýzu potřeb a aktuálně využívaných technologií pro centralizované ukládání dat. Na základě teoretických principů a výsledků průzkumu budou navržena modelová řešení pro dvě firmy s rozdílnými požadavky na přístup, bezpečnost a nákladů pro datové úložiště., The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the possible solutions for network storage systems that can be used for medium-sized company on base SWOT analysis and propose appropriate solutions. The approaches for data storage using local and cloud infrastructure solutions will be also introduced. The questionnaire survey will be also included. The results of this survey take account of the needs analysis and current technologies used for centralized data storage. Finally, a model solution for the two companies with different access requirements, safety and cost for data storage will be presented. This paper is concerned with the classification of families of graphs T with the following property: For any graph G, the subsets of vertices of G that can be saturated by packing copies of graphs from T form a collection of independent sets of a matroid. From this point of view, we present a characterization of so-called EHP-families of graphs (i.e., families consisting of K2, hypomatchable graphs, and propellers).
