The hybridization of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and Cu nanoparticles offers a promising strategy for creating highly conductive and mechanically stable fillers for flexible printed electronics. In this study, we report the ultrafast synthesis of SWCNT/Cu hybrid nanostructures and the fabrication of flexible electrodes under ambient conditions through a laser-induced photo-thermal reaction. Thermal energy generated from the nonradiative relaxation of the π-plasmon resonance of SWCNTs was utilized to reduce the Cu-complex (known as a metal–organic decomposition ink) into Cu nanoparticles. We systematically investigated the effects of SWCNT concentration and output laser power on the structural and electrical properties of the SWCNT/Cu hybrid electrodes. The SWCNT/Cu electrodes achieved a minimum electrical resistivity of 46 μohm·cm, comparable to that of the metal-based printed electrodes. Mechanical bending tests demonstrated that the SWCNT/Cu electrodes were highly stable and durable, with no significant deformation observed even after 1000 bending cycles. Additionally, the electrodes showed rapid temperature increases and stable Joule heating performance, reaching temperatures of nearly 80 °C at an applied voltage of less than 3.5 V. The efficient dispersion of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) has been the subject of extensive research over the past decade. Despite these efforts, achieving individually dispersed SWCNTs at high concentrations remains challenging. In this study, we address the limitations associated with conventional methods, such as defect formation, excessive surfactant use, and the use of corrosive solvents. Our novel dispersion method utilizes the spontaneous charging of SWCNTs in a solvated electron system created by dissolving potassium in hexamethyl phosphoramide (HMPA). The resulting charged SWCNTs (c-SWCNTs) can be directly dispersed in the charging medium using only magnetic stirring, leading to defect-free c-SWCNT dispersions with high concentrations of up to 20 mg/mL. The successful dispersion of individual c-SWCNT strands is confirmed by their liquid-crystalline behavior. Importantly, the dispersion medium for c-SWCNTs exhibits no reactivity with metals, polymers, or other organic solvents. This versatility enables a wide range of applications, including electrically conductive free-standing films produced via conventional blade coating, wet-spun fibers, membrane electrodes, thermal composites, and core-shell hybrid microparticles. BACKGROUND: Development of a rapid and accurate detection method for a pine wilt disease (PWD) biomarker is crucial to prevent the spread of this disease in forests. In this study, we produced a recombinant minibody‐type antibody against Bursaphelenchus xylophilus peroxiredoxin (BxPrx), which is a protein secreted by the PWD‐causing B. xylophilus pathogen. Results: We labeled the anti‐BxPrx minibody using two different fluorescent dyes, Alexa Fluor (AF) 488 and AF647, and established a fluorescence‐linked immunosorbent assay (FLISA) system using these probes. Both fluorescent minibodies showed limit of detection values of 10.2 and 14.6 ng for the AF488‐ and AF647‐labeled antibodies, respectively, suggesting the usefulness of these probes for FLISA‐based sensitive detection of BxPrx. Conclusion: The entire duration for performing FLISA was 3 h, and enzyme‐conjugated secondary antibody incubation, washing and enzymatic reaction steps were not required, which was comparable to traditional ELISA. Both AF488‐ and AF647‐labeled minibodies showed high sensitivity, suggesting that these probes are useful for various fluorescence measurement techniques, which typically use green or red filters. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen that causes infections and life-threatening diseases. Although antibiotics, such as methicillin, have been used, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) causes high morbidity and mortality rates, and conventional detection methods are difficult to be used because of time-consuming process. To control the spread of S. aureus, a development of a rapid and simple detection method is required. In this study, we generated a fluorescent anti-S. aureus antibody, and established a novel fluorescence-linked immunosorbent assay (FLISA)-based S. aureus detection method. The method showed high sensitivity and low limit of detection toward MRSA detection. The assay time for FLISA was 5 h, which was faster than that of conventional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) or rapid ELISA. Moreover, the FLISA-based detection method was applied to diagnose clinically isolated MRSA samples that required only 5.3 h of preincubation. The FLISA method developed in this study can be widely applied as a useful tool for convenient S. aureus detection.
