Summary: The delay‐/disruption‐tolerant networking (DTN) architecture is considered the key enabling technology for future space communications, as confirmed by the current standardization within CCSDS and the experiments carried out onboard the International Space Station. Despite the scientific community efforts to analyze DTN architecture performance, most of the studies have focused on individual protocols, or have considered simple test cases, thus missing a whole system view. To bridge these research gaps, this paper presents a comprehensive analysis of DTN performance in Mars‐Earth communications, considering a realistic and complex end‐to‐end scenario, where multiple assets and multiple data flows are involved, as envisioned for future space missions. To this end, a virtualized testbed based on ION software was used for an extensive emulation campaign, focusing particularly on Bundle and Licklider Protocol interaction with the CGR routing algorithm. SYNOPSIS We investigate how managers report one-time gains resulting from legal settlements and insurance recoveries in press releases following Regulation G. Regulation G may have had the unintended consequence of allowing managers to omit mention of these transitory gains, resulting in higher reported performance absent non-GAAP disclosure. We find that while managers generally provide some information about transitory gains in the earnings announcement, there is a large amount of variation in the granularity of the detail. For example, the vast majority of managers (88.5 percent) mention the gain in the earnings announcement, but few (34 percent) report non-GAAP earnings per share summary figures explicitly excluding transitory gains. This percentage is significantly lower than pre-Regulation G, where approximately 62 percent of firms reported non-GAAP earnings per share excluding the transitory gain. Interestingly, we find that gains are less likely to be carved out of earnings when there are no concurrent transitory losses, providing some evidence that there continues to be an opportunistic component of non-GAAP reporting following Regulation G. Joshua Glasgow argues that there are no races, using experimental philosophy and a more traditional thought-experiment approach. A closer look, however, finds these antirealist arguments much less convincing. Glasgow’s overall argumentative strategy is to endorse a relatively thin conception of what the concept of race requires, only to argue that even that thin notion is tied up too much with problematic elements that do not exist in any of the candidate groups that we might call races. This paper argues that a social-kind view of race can handle the objections Glasgow presents without much in the way of unwelcome implications, and some of his positive arguments turn out to be much more favorable to a social-kind view than Glasgow allows. Section 1 looks at Glasgow’s overall strategy, beginning with some experimental philosophy that he concludes shows that the ordinary concept of race is both a thin concept and biological. Section 2 then evaluates the implications of the experimental philosophy work Glasgow points to, concluding that Glasgow improperly takes these data to show that the ordinary concept of race requires thinking of races as natural kinds. Section 3 challenges Glasgow’s argument that we should stop believing in races, because belief in races involves too many false beliefs about the groups we are calling races. Section 4 looks at some thought experiments Glasgow uses to bolster his other arguments, suggesting that various counterfactual scenarios provide counterexamples for the claim that the socially constructed groups we call races are genuine races. I argue that these thought experiments need not lead to his conclusion. Section 5 looks at a quick argument Glasgow gives in his summary, to the effect that our criteria for race membership are inconsistent, arguing that it, too, is unmotivated. His arguments, therefore, do not give strong enough reasons to be antirealists about race.

- Abstract
In A Realist Metaphysics of Race: A Context-Sensitive, Short-Term Retentionist, Long-Term Revisionist Approach, Jeremy Pierce defends a social kind view of racial categories. On this view, the biological features we use to classify people racially do not make races natural kinds. Rather, races exist because of contingent social practices, single out certain groups of people as races, give them social importance, and allow us to name them as races. Pierce also identifies several kinds of context-sensitivity as central to how racial categorization works and argues that we need racial categories to identify problems in how our racial constructions are formed, including the harmful effects of racial constructions. Hence, rather than seeking to eliminate such categories, Pierce argues that we should also make efforts to change the conditions that generate their problematic elements, with an eye toward retaining only the unproblematic aspects. A Realist Metaphysics of Race contains insights relevant not just to professional philosophers in metaphysics, philosophy of race, social philosophy, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science, but also to students and scholars working in sociology, biology, anthropology, ethnic studies, and political science.

Although a number of studies have examined the history and evolution of family therapy outside of the United States, few studies have relied on qualitative or quantitative methods to understand international perspectives of family therapy. In addition, family therapy literature has continued to call for more research that increases awareness of global views and trends of family therapy. To increase our understanding of international perspectives of family therapy, 22 family therapy professionals from various countries were interviewed using a phenomenological approach. Semistructured interviews were used to understand family therapy professionals' experiences of family therapy as a profession and as a discipline. Implications are made in regards to the current and future status of family therapy as a global movement.

The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) is a randomized multicenter study comparing low-dose helical computed tomography (CT) with chest radiography in the screening of older current and former heavy smokers for early detection of lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Five-year survival rates approach 70% with surgical resection of stage IA disease; however, more than 75% of individuals have incurable locally advanced or metastatic disease, the latter having a 5-year survival of less than 5%. It is plausible that treatment should be more effective and the likelihood of death decreased if asymptomatic lung cancer is detected through screening early enough in its preclinical phase. For these reasons, there is intense interest and intuitive appeal in lung cancer screening with low-dose CT. The use of survival as the determinant of screening effectiveness is, however, confounded by the well-described biases of lead time, length, and overdiagnosis. Despite previous attempts, no test has been shown to reduce lung cancer mortality, an endpoint that circumvents screening biases and provides a definitive measure of benefit when assessed in a randomized controlled trial that enables comparison of mortality rates between screened individuals and a control group that does not undergo the screening intervention of interest. The NLST is such a trial. The rationale for and design of the NLST are presented.
