Abstract Novel anthropometric indices are more closely related to metabolic abnormalities than traditional anthropometric indices. Fewer studies have been conducted based on the relationship between novel anthropometric indicators and hyperuricemia. This study was to analyze the serum uric acid (SUA) levels of adults and the relationship between hyperuricemia and these new indicators in Su-Wuxi-Chang area of China, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the management of SUA levels in patients with hyperuricemia. A total of 14,834 adults were enrolled. The information of height, weight, waist circumference, lifestyle, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), lipids, and SUA were collected. ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the visualization of right adrenal vein (RAV) in non‐contrast‐enhanced multi‐detector computed tomography (MDCT) and its guiding role for right adrenal venous sampling (AVS) in patients with primary aldosteronism (PA). A total of 237 patients diagnosed with PA who underwent successful AVS procedures from January 2020 to March 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT image features of RAV included the degree of visualization and the position of RAV orifice. Subsequently, the concordance degree between RAV in non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT and AVS images was calculated to evaluate its guiding effect for right AVS. The visualization rate of RAV in non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT was 81.9% (n = 194), with 73.7% (n = 143) clearly displayed and 26.3% (n = 51) generally displayed. In 6.2% (n = 12) of patients who can display RAV, RAV formed a common trunk with the accessory hepatic vein and then merged into the inferior vena cava. Non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT revealed that RAV orifice was located between the 10th thoracic vertebra (T10) and the 1st lumbar vertebra (L1), with 85.1% (n = 165) located from the lower 1/3 of T11 to the lower 1/3 of T12. The concordance of imaging anatomy of RAV between non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT and AVS image was found to be at a high rate of 94.3% (n = 183). Non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT provides excellent visualization of RAV and clearly depicts its anatomical characteristics. Furthermore, RAV images obtained from non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT are highly consistent with those from AVS, indicating that interpretation of non‐contrast‐enhanced MDCT before AVS can reduce the failure rate of RAV cannulation.

Isoquinolinone is an important heterocyclic framework in natural products and biologically active molecules, and the efficient synthesis of this structural motif has received much attention in recent years. Herein, we report a (phenyliodonio)sulfamate (PISA)-mediated, solvent-dependent synthesis of different isoquinolinone derivatives. The method provides highly chemoselective access to 3- or 4-substituted isoquinolinone derivatives by reacting o-alkenylbenzamide derivatives with PISA in either acetonitrile or wet hexafluoro-2-isopropanol.

Fair-faced concrete is green concrete that is directly decorated by its texture. For a more stunning visual impact, pigmented fair-faced concrete with more colors on the surface is prepared. However, the effects of different pigments and service environments on pigmented fair-faced concrete need to be explored. Therefore, four iron oxide inorganic pigments were employed to prepare pigmented fair-faced concrete, and the changes in its fresh properties and mechanical properties were studied through slump, slump flow, and compressive strength tests. Meanwhile, camera analysis and colorimetry were utilized to evaluate the changes in its apparent properties and color stability under four different distinct service environments in this experiment. Results indicate that incorporating pigments reduces both the slump and slump flow of the fresh mixture, and its fresh properties gradually decrease as the pigment content increases. The slump and slump flow of concrete with 6 % iron oxide yellow (IOY) were 30.00 % and 44.00 % lower than the control. Adding IOY and iron oxide red (IOR) can improve the 7-d and 28-d compressive strength of concretes. The 28-d compressive strength of concrete with 2 %-6 % IOY increased by 7.72 %, 11.78 % and 15.09 % over the control. Meanwhile, the surface pore area of concrete with IOY is the lowest and that of concrete containing 2 % IOY is 3.97 cm2/m2. Additionally, the color stability of concrete performs best in water immersion environments and worst in natural environments. It is noteworthy that the concrete added with IOY exhibits excellent color stability under all four service environments. This study aims to evaluate the effects of different pigments on concrete properties and investigate the color stability of four types of concrete under diverse service conditions. The findings will promote the application of pigmented fair-faced concrete in construction and provide technical insights for future research.

The quality of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) as well as the student's solve behavior in MCQs are educational concerns. MCQs cover wide educational content and can be immediately and accurately scored. However, many studies have found some flawed items in this exam type, thereby possibly resulting in misleading insights into students' performance and affecting important decisions. This research sought to determine the characteristics of MCQs and factors that may affect the quality of MCQs by using item response theory (IRT) to evaluate data. For this, four samples of different sizes from US and China in secondary and higher education were chosen. Item difficulty and discrimination were determined using item response theory statistical item analysis models. Results were as follows. First, only a few guessing behaviors are included in MCQ exams because all data fit the two-parameter logistic model better than the three-parameter logistic model. Second, the quality of MCQs depended more on the degree of training of examiners and less on middle or higher education levels. Lastly, MCQs must be evaluated to ensure that high-quality items can be used as bases of inference in middle and higher education.

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a pathological condition. Oxidative stress is intricately linked to MetS, and may be reflected by composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI). We aimed to explore the association between CDAI and MetS. Methods: 12,580 participants aged over 20 years were involved. The relationship between CDAI and MetS was examined through binary logistic regression. Subgroup analysis and interaction tests were employed. Results: The negative association between high scores on CDAI and the prevalence of MetS were found. Notably, an interaction between CDAI and physical activity in relation to MetS was observed. High scores on CDAI were significantly and negatively linked to MetS prevalence within the active physical activity groups. Conclusion: Higher scores on CDAI was significantly associated with lower odds of MetS. An interaction existed between CDAI and physical activity. It is advisable for individuals to enhance their personal scores on CDAI.
