The presence of malachite green dye in wastewater has a great negative impact on the environment. At present, industrial wastewater is treated using adsorption, electrolysis and membrane separation, among which the adsorption method is the most widely used wastewater treatment. In this study mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) were prepared using the sol-gel method and modified with the natural polymer urushiol (U) to obtain MSN@Us, which have a core-shell structure. This is the first use of urushiol in dye adsorption. The structures and chemical properties of the MSNs and MSN@Us were characterized. The adsorption of malachite green by the MSNs and MSN@Us showed that the adsorption rate of MSN@Us was higher than that of MSNs, with an adsorption rate greater than 90%. This study provides a new research direction for the use of urushiol in the treatment of contaminated wastewater.

Patients with VH were further divided into the hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, and HBV-HCV co-infection subgroups. Fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), glycated albumin (GA), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), creatinine (Cr), and cystatin C (Cys C) levels were measured. Urine microalbumin levels were also assessed. Formulas for estimated average glucose calculated using glycated albumin(eAG(GA)), estimated average glucose calculated using HbA1c (eAG(HbA1c)), and estimated glomerular filtration rate calculated using cystatin C (eGFRcys) were used to evaluate the average glucose and renal function.Results: The prevalence of hyperglycemia/DM and renal disease was significantly higher in the VH group, especially in the HCV subgroup. The prevalence of renal disease was significantly higher in patients with VH with eAG(GA) ≥ 200 mg/dL.Conclusion: Our study used multiple parameters to evaluate blood glucose and renal function in patients with VH and found that hyperglycemia/DM and renal disease are closely associated with VH, especially in subjects with HCV infection. Patients with VH, especially those with HCV infection and hyperglycemia/DM, were particularly vulnerable to renal disease.Keywords: viral hepatitis, hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus, renal disease, nephropathy

The occurrence of multidrug-resistant pathogenic bacteria, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDRAB), extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, has become a serious problem in animals and public. The objective of this study was to identify and isolate lactic acid bacterial (LAB) strains from the intestinal tracts of pigs and feces of dogs and then characterize them as potential probiotics with antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. In a preliminary isolation screening, 45 of 1167 isolated LAB strains were found to have anti-S. aureus ATCC 27,735 activity. Using 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer region (ISR) sequences, five of these isolates were further identified as Lactobacillus animalis 30a-2, Lactobacillus reuteri 4-12E, Weissella cibaria C34, Lactococcus lactis 5-12H, and Lactococcus lactis 6-3H. Antimicrobial substance assays suggest that the L. lactis 5-12H, L. lactis 6-3H, L. animalis 30a-2, L. reuteri 4-12E, and W. cibaria C34 strains might produce bacteriocins and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as antimicrobial substances. The L. animalis 30a-2 and W. cibaria C34 strains were further characterized for probiotic properties and shown to have high acid and bile salt tolerance. Additionally, they have broad antimicrobial spectra, and can significantly repress the growth of all of the tested strains of MRSA isolates, some MDRAB, ESBL E. coli, and P. aeruginosa isolates, along with food-borne pathogenic bacteria such as Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778, Listeria monocytogens ATCC 19111, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., and Yersinia enterocolitica BCRC 12986. This is the first report of H2O2-producing L. animalis 30a-2 and W. cibaria C34 isolated from the intestinal tracts of pigs and feces of dogs that have good antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant and food-borne pathogenic bacteria and have excellent probiotic properties.

Pyroptosis related to inflammation has an important role for tumor initiation, progression and metastasis. Our studies described pyroptosis at the pan-cancer level through the tumor immune microenvironment, survival, stemness score, and anticancer drug sensitivity. We evaluate the differential expression of pyroptosis related genes using the Wilcox test of normal human tissues from the Genotype-Tissue Expression project (GTEX), and human cancer tissues from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The R packages were used to identify survival analyses of pyroptosis related genes in 33 TCGA cancer types. The correlation between pyroptosis related genes expression and tumor microenvironment, tumor stem cell score, and anticancer drug sensitivity was determined through the Spearman correlation test and Pearson correlation test. The functional enrichment of pyroptosis related genes was investigated using Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) analysis. In 18 TCGA cancer types and adjacent normal tissues, the 27 pyroptosis related genes were naturally different. According to correlation analysis, the association between the expression of 27 pyroptosis related genes and the tumor microenvironment revealed that the higher the expression of pyroptosis related genes, the greater the degree of tumor microenvironment. The first-line treatment options for high-risk prostate cancer (PCa) are definitive external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) with or without androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and radical prostatectomy (RP) with or without adjuvant therapies. However, few randomized trials have compared the survival outcomes of these two treatments. To systematically evaluate the survival outcomes of high-risk PCa patients treated with EBRT- or RP-based therapy, a comprehensive and up-to-date meta-analysis was performed. A systematic online search was conducted for randomized or observational studies that investigated biochemical relapse-free survival (bRFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and/or overall survival (OS), in relation to the use of RP or EBRT in patients with high-risk PCa. The summary hazard ratios (HRs) were estimated under the random effects models. We identified heterogeneity between studies using Q tests and measured it using I2 statistics. We evaluated publication bias using funnel plots and Egger's regression asymmetry tests. Seventeen studies (including one randomized controlled trial [RCT]) of low risk of bias were selected and up to 9504 patients were pooled. When comparing EBRT-based treatment with RP-based treatment, the pooled HRs for bRFS, CSS, and OS were 0.40 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.24–0.67), 1.36 (95% CI: 0.94–1.97), and 1.39 (95% CI: 1.18–1.62), respectively. Better OS for RP-based treatment and better bRFS for EBRT-based treatment have been identified, and there was no significant difference in CSS between the two treatments. RP-based treatment is recommended for high-risk PCa patients who value long-term survival, and EBRT-based treatment might be a promising alternative for elderly patients.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the mainstream treatment to widen narrowed or obstructed coronary arteries due to pathological conditions. However, the post-operational neointimal hyperplasia occurs because of endothelium denudation during surgical procedures and the following inflammation. MicroRNAs (miRs) are new therapeutics of great potential for cardiovascular diseases. However, miRs easily degrade in vivo. A vehicle that can maintain their bioactivities and extend their retention at the site of delivery is prerequisite for miRs to play their roles as therapeutic reagents. Here, we reported the use of the Laponite hydrogels to deliver miR-22 that are modulators of phenotypes of smooth muscle cells (SMCs). The Laponite hydrogels allow a homogenous distribution of miR-22 within the gels, which had the capacity to transfect SMCs in vitro. Upon the injection of the miR-22 incorporated in the Laponite hydrogels in vivo, miR-22 could be well retained surrounding arteries for at least 7 days. Moreover, the miR-22 loading Laponite hydrogels inhibited the neointimal formation, reduced the infiltration of the macrophages, and reversed the adverse vascular ECM remodeling after the balloon-induced vascular injuries by upregulation of miR-22 and downregulation of its target genes methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MECP2). The application of the Laponite hydrogels for miR local delivery may offer a novel strategy to treat cardiovascular diseases.

Adult mammals have limited potential for cardiac regeneration after injury. In contrast, neonatal mouse heart, up to 7 days post birth, can completely regenerate after injury. Therefore, identifying the key factors promoting the proliferation of endogenous cardiomyocytes (CMs) is a critical step in the development of cardiac regeneration therapies. In our previous study, we predicted that mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 2 (MNK2) has the potential of promoting regeneration by using phosphoproteomics and iGPS algorithm. Here, we aimed to clarify the role of MNK2 in cardiac regeneration and explore the underlying mechanism. In vitro, MNK2 overexpression promoted, and MNK2 knockdown suppressed cardiomyocyte proliferation. In vivo, inhibition of MNK2 in CMs impaired myocardial regeneration in neonatal mice. In adult myocardial infarcted mice, MNK2 overexpression in CMs in the infarct border zone activated cardiomyocyte proliferation and improved cardiac repair. In CMs, MNK2 binded to eIF4E and regulated its phosphorylation level. Knockdown of eukaryotic translation initiation factor (eIF4E) impaired the proliferation-promoting effect of MNK2 in CMs. MNK2-eIF4E axis stimulated CMs proliferation by activating cyclin D1. Our study demonstrated that MNK2 kinase played a critical role in cardiac regeneration. Over-expression of MNK2 promoted cardiomyocyte proliferation in vitro and in vivo, at least partly, by activating the eIF4E-cyclin D1 axis. This investigation identified a novel target for heart regenerative therapy.

A 56-year-old man underwent F-FDG PET/CT to evaluate possible pancreatic cancer, which was revealed by CT. The images showed a solid lesion with peripherally increased FDG activity in the tail of the pancreas, as well as hypermetabolic lesions in the lumbar spine and rib. Pathological examination following lumbar biopsy demonstrated multiple myeloma. Five months after chemotherapy, follow-up FDG PET/CT showed cystic change in the pancreatic lesion without elevated metabolism.

Myelofibrosis, a clonal stem-cell disorder which is difficult to cure, The treatment for most of patients is conservative treatment, but the treatment effect is not ideal. Lenalidomide as a novel immunomodulator in the treatment of blood diseases showed good results in recent years, Its studies have shown that lenalidomide in myelofibrosis also showed a certain effect. As companed with single drug lenalidomide, the thalidomide has a higher response rate, clinical symptoms improved significantly. Ruxolitinib, JAK2 inhibitor, combined with lenalidomide not only can improve the quality of life of patients, but also extend the survival of patients. In addition, lenalidomide combined with prednisone for the treatment of bone marrow fibrosis is more effective and more safe, lenalidomide can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients, especially anemia, and prednisone can reduce the hematologic toxicity of lenalidomids. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lenalidomide in the treatment of myelofibrosis, and focuses on the newest clinical research and application progress of lenalidomide for myelofibrosis.

The objective of the present study was to investigate the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and mRNA expression profiles that are associated with the invasion and metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Transwell invasion assays were used to screen three highly invasive sub-strains of the human PTC IHH4 cell line: IHH4-M1, IHH4-M2 and IHH4-M3. In addition, tumor-bearing nude mice were used to identify the invasive and metastatic capacity of the three sub-strains. Agilent lncRNA microarray chips were used to screen 795 differentially expressed lncRNAs and 788 differentially expressed mRNAs. A total of 10 lncRNAs and 10 mRNAs were randomly selected for RT-qPCR validation to confirm that the results were consistent with the microarray chips, suggesting that the results of the microarray chip analysis were relatively accurate. Gene ontology enrichment-based cluster analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes were mainly associated with steroid biosynthesis, bioadhesion, intercellular adhesion and other metastasis-associated biological processes. The results of the pathway cluster analysis identified that the differentially expressed genes were associated with tumor metastasis-associated signaling pathways, including the cholesterol metabolic signaling pathway, the sterol regulatory element-binding protein signaling pathway and the integrin signaling pathway, suggesting that lncRNA may regulate PTC metastasis through various signaling pathways. The present study screened and constructed PTC metastasis-associated lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles, and it provides a molecular basis for the future study of high-risk molecular markers of PTC.

One hears that the credit ranking score has increased technical efficiency in financial holding companies, when a data envelopment analysis (DEA) is employed. Our empirical results show that the credit ranking scores will obviously affect the estimated results of efficiency measurement in Taiwan’s financial holding companies. Additionally, the effects on technical inefficiency could be attributed to the under-utilization of inputs, rather than the inappropriate returns of scale, or the selection of incorrect input combinations. It shows that the pure technical efficiency change index number and the scale efficiency change index number are still improvement. Especially, when credit ranking score is incorporated as an important factor for efficiency measure, the credit ranking measure can be viewed as a discretionary variable for inputs.

Oleaginous microalgae hold great promises for biofuel production. However, commercialization of microalgal biofuels remains impracticable due to the lack of suitable industrial strains with high growth rate and lipid productivity. Engineering of metabolic pathways is a potential strategy for the improvement of microalgal strains for the production of lipids and also value-added products in microalgae. Malonyl CoA-acyl carrier protein transacylase (MCAT) has been reported to be involved in fatty acid biosynthesis. Here, we identified a putative MCAT in the oleaginous marine microalga Nannochloropsis oceanica. NoMCAT overexpressing N. oceanica showed a higher growth rate and photosynthetic efficiency. The neutral lipid content of engineered lines showed a significant increase by up to 31% compared to wild type. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis revealed that NoMCAT overexpression significantly altered the fatty acid composition. The composition of eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5), which is a polyunsaturated fatty acid necessary for animal nutrition, increased by 8%. These results demonstrate the role of MCAT in enhancing fatty acid biosynthesis and growth in microalgae, and also provide an insight into metabolic engineering of microalgae with high industrial potential.

This article introduces two manipulator design schemes which can be applied in lithium battery formation process. According to the actual production conditions, we chose the second design scheme and successfully made a manipulator. In order to achieve effective gripping of the lithium battery, flexible shift and precise placement, the manipulator uses the pneumatic drive which is controlled by a computer to achieve the rotation movement, vertical offset and the gripper of the manipulator closing and opening operations. The manipulator can be completely able to meet the production line demand and the efficiency is much higher than manual work, which is proved by practice.

A series of proline-derived organocatalysts based on a calix[4]arene scaffold have been developed to catalyze direct aldol reactions in the presence of water. Under the optimal conditions, high yields (up to >99%), good enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) and diastereoselectivities (up to 90:10) were obtained.

Transparent conducting oxides bilayer films stacked by one 130-nm-thick indium tin oxide (ITO) top layer and one 75-nm-thick zinc oxide (ZnO) buffer layer were grown onto polyethersulfone (PES) substrates by ion beam-assisted evaporation. The effects of ion energy and ZnO buffer layers on the structural and opto-electric properties of ITO films were initially investigated. The as-deposited ZnO buffer layers show wurtzite (0 0 2) preferred orientation on the PES substrates with ion beam assistance. The results of X-ray diffraction reveal a marked increase in the crystallinity of the ITO films which use ZnO as a buffer layer material. A drop of ∼60% in electrical resistivity of the ITO film on the PES can be achieved by using ZnO buffer layer. The transmittance of the ITO/ZnO bilayer was not deteriorated due to the insertion of ZnO layer. The lowest electrical resistivity of 6.552×10−4 Ω-cm associated with the transmittance of ∼80% at the wavelength of 550 nm can be obtained for the ITO film on the ZnO-coated PES at ion energy of 60 eV. The ITO films on the ZnO-buffered PES with moderate control of ion energy have a promising future for the application of the contact layers for flexible solar cells.

To understand the mechanism of spherical microparticle formation during lyophilizing a tert-Butyl alcohol (TBA)/water solution of a zinc peptide adduct.A small peptide, PC-1, as well as zinc PC-1 at (3:2) and (3:1) ratios, were dissolved in 44% (wt.%) of TBA/water, gradually frozen to -50 degrees C over 2 h ("typical freezing step"), annealed at -20 degrees C for 6 h ("annealing step"), and subsequently lyophilized with primary and secondary drying. Zinc peptide (3:1) lyophile was also prepared with quench cooling instead of the typical freezing step, or without the annealing step. Other TBA concentrations, i.e., 25%, 35%, 54% and 65%, were used to make the zinc peptide (3:1) adduct lyophile with the typical freezing and annealing steps. The obtained lyophile was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The zinc peptide solutions in TBA/water were analyzed by Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC). The surface tension of the TBA/water co-solvent system was measured by a pendant drop shape method.With typical freezing and annealing steps, the free peptide lyophile showed porous network-like structure that is commonly seen in lyophilized products. However, with increasing the zinc to peptide ratio, uniform particles were gradually evolved. Zinc peptide (3:1) adduct lyophiles obtained from 25%, 35% and 44% TBA exhibit a distinctive morphology of uniform and spherical microparticles with diameters of approximately 3-4 microm, and the spherical zinc peptide particles are more predominant when the TBA level approaches 20%. Adopting quench cooling in the lyophilization cycle leads to irregular shape fine powders, and eliminating the annealing step causes rough particles surface. When TBA concentration increases above 54%, the lyophiles demonstrate primarily irregular shape particles.A proposed mechanism of spherical particle formation of the 3:1 zinc peptide encompasses the freezing of a TBA/water solution (20-70% TBA) causing the formation of a TBA hydrate phase ("dispersed TBA hydrate"). Decreasing the temperature further causes the formation of a eutectic mixture between TBA hydrate ("eutectic TBA hydrate") and water. Due to its low aqueous solubility, the zinc peptide adduct accumulates in both of the dispersed and eutectic TBA hydrate phases to form a hydrophobic "oil" phase. Since the eutectic TBA hydrate phase is surrounded by ice, a "solid emulsion" forms to lower the interfacial energy, and gives rise to spherical zinc peptide particles upon solvent sublimation. Possibility of liquid-liquid phase separation during freeze-drying was also investigated, and no evidence was found to support this alternative mechanism.

The electrocaloric effect of compositionally modulated PbZrxTi1-xO3/PbTiO3 superlattices are investigated within the framework of the Landau–Ginzburg–Devonshire theory, in which the misfit strain between the two slabs is taken into account. The impact of interfacial coupling strength, composition concentration and the thickness proportion of PbZrxTi1-xO3 slab in one period on the adiabatic temperature change has been calculated. It is found that the ferroelectric superlattice displays pronounced electrocaloric effect and a large adiabatic temperature change ΔT = 14.5 K can be obtained, which is higher than that observed experimentally in PbZr0.95Ti0.05O3 thin films. Essentially, the ferroelectric superlattices provide an effective means to acquire good electrocaloric effect by adjusting the interfacial coupling strength, composition concentration and the thickness of each slab.

For a separable real Banach space X with separable dual X ∗, we consider the integral functional on over a positive finite measure space (T,Г,μ) where E is a closed subspace. This paper characterizes Moreau-Rockefellar type theorems by the generalized subgradient operator acting on the integral functional F(x). We prove that under appropriate conditions, and show that equality holds if the generalized regularity holds for ft (.) at some pointz(t) ∊ X. This result extends thc locally Lipschitzian case of Clarke’s result and implies several Moreau-Rockafellar type theorems

Measurements of optical tweezers forces on biological micro-objects can be used to develop innovative biodiagnostics methods. In the first part of this report, we present a new sensitive method to determine A, B, D types of red blood cells. Target antibodies are coated on glass surfaces. Optical forces needed to pull away RBC from the glass surface increase when RBC antigens interact with their corresponding antibodies. In this work, measurements of stripping optical forces are used to distinguish the major RBC types: group O Rh(+), group A Rh(+) and group B Rh(+). The sensitivity of the method is found to be at least 16-folds higher than the conventional agglutination method. In the second part of this report, we present an original way to measure in real time the wall thickness of bacteria that is one of the most important diagnostic parameters of bacteria drug resistance in hospital diagnostics. The optical tweezers force on a shell bacterium is proportional to its wall thickness. Experimentally, we determine the optical tweezers force applied on each bacteria family by measuring their escape velocity. Then, the wall thickness of shell bacteria can be obtained after calibrating with known bacteria parameters. The method has been successfully applied to indentify, from blind tests, Methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), including VSSA (NCTC 10442), VISA (Mu 50), and heto-VISA (Mu 3)

To develop a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for detection of monoamine neurotransmitters and its metabolites after pre-column derivatization with dansyl chloride.The C(18) chromatograph column (150 mm×4.6 mm×5 µm) was selected for detection, and derived by dansyl chloride (10 mg/ml) under the condition of 50°C water bath by pH11 buffer solution. 20 µl acetic acid acetone solution (1.0 mol/L) was then mixed in for termination of the reaction. Then the solution was cooling to room temperature, 0.1 mol/L acetic acid zinc-acetonitrile-tetrahydrofuran solution was adopted for mobile phrase, with the volume ratio at 62:35:3. The flow rate was 1.0 ml/min between 0-10 min, 2.0 ml/min between 10-35 min. The ultraviolet detection wavelength was 286 nm. The above method separately detected monoamine neurotransmitters and its metabolites and evaluated the limit of detection, accurate degree and accuracy degree.The linear relations between each component was good in the range of 1 - 20 µg/ml (r = 0.999). The lowest detection limit of norepinephrine, dopamine, 5-hydroxytryptamine and the metabolites 3-methoxy-4-benzoglycols, homovanillic acid and 5-heteroauxin were separately 0.60, 0.80, 0.41, 0.21, 0.19 and 0.1 µg/ml; while the average recovery rates were between 78.5% - 95.9%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 6.62%, 7.64%, 2.98%, 3.60%, 5.09% and 3.09%, respectively. In the process of selection and optimization of the chromatographic conditions, we observed the importance of metal ions to discretion, and discussed the temperature, pH of the buffer solution and dosage of dansyl chloride in derivation. Under the above conditions, the reaction was perfect, and the baseline of the detected materials thoroughly separated.The method to detect monoamine neurotransmitters and its metabolites by HPLC and pre-column derivatization with dansyl chloride was established; and this method could provide reference for the detection of polyamine by HPLC.

A series of proline-derived organocatalysts based on a calix[4]arene scaffold have been developed to catalyze direct aldol reactions in the presence of water. Under the optimal conditions, high yields (up to >99%), good enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) and diastereoselectivities (up to 90:10) were obtained.

Using remote sensing interpretation result for land use and analysis models, we analyse land use dynamic changes and ecological effect in Jiaodong region in three periods of time (1980s-1995, 1995-2000 and 1980s-2000). The study shows: in the nearly 15 years, the most prominent features of land use change are that, the area of urban land increased greatly, farm land decreased obviously, and urbanization was the important driver of land use change; the even value of regional ecological quality indexes stands almost at same level, and this shows that, in general, ecological quality of Jiaodong region changed little from 1980s to 2000; returning cultivated land to grassland, conversing cropland to forest, and returning farmland to lake were main drivers to improve ecological quality, and damage and reclamation of grass lands, farmland occupation for urban construction, farmland occupation for country construction and land reclamation from lake marshes were main drivers to decrease ecological quality.

Land use information plays important role not only in social-economic development but also in scientific research area. With the development of the Information Technology, remotely sensed images provide main data sources for land use information and knowledge extraction in real time. While there are lots of land use classification systems in the world facing to different research or application purposes. And with the crossing of multi-disciplines and expanding of the research area, more and more land use classification systems are designed. This brings the difficulties for land use data setspsila integration, exchange and sharing under different classification systems. The problem faced to land use classification systems are similar with the problem of metadata standards in geographic information data management field. While ISO Metadata Standard 19115 designed by ISO TC 211 provides a perfect solution for geographic data integration, exchange and sharing. Enlightened by the ISO 19115 metadata extensible model, the paper brings forward the land use extensible classification framework. The framework is composed of 3 tiers, i.e., land use core classes, corpora classes and application profile classes. The core and corpora classes are derived from the main international land use classification systems in the world. Semantic exchange mechanism between core classes and other main classification in the world is designed supported by information techniques. Extension principle and methods are designed in this framework. This ensures many application classification profiles can be extended from the core classes and corpora classes easily.

It is common to retrieve some evapotranspiration parameters from the remote sensing data, with the development of information technology. Under this background, this study selects Zhelin basin located in north of China as a typical area. In the study area, the paper retrieved the Evapotranspiration and the potential evapotranspiration on the basis of remote sensing data with the energy-balance method which was programmed into the CEWBMS model by the Netherland colleagues. After that, the paper analyzed the distribution of those retrieval data and validated the accuracy.
