Prior studies indicate that the reaction wave can propagate from the impact surface, but the possibility and the influencing factors of the reaction wave formation are still unclear. This work investigates the propagation behavior of the shock-induced reaction wave for Ni/Al clad particle composites with varying stoichiometry (from 0.5 to 0.75 of the Ni mole fraction) through molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that the solid-state reaction processes with or without wave propagation strongly depend on the conjunction of stoichiometry and shock intensity. Within the cases of wave propagation, the calculated propagation velocity (in the range of 135–170 m/s) increases linearly or exponentially with the Ni mole fraction. Furthermore, the thermodynamic criteria for the reaction wave formation, including Al melting at the collision surface and higher temperature gradient, are established by analysis of the shock-induced high-entropy layer. In addition, microstructural characterization reveals the intrinsic mechanisms of the propagation of the reaction wave and the formation of additional reaction wave, namely, the dissolution of Ni into Al and the coalescence of reaction zones. Apart from the propagation behavior, the initial stoichiometry influences the crystallization–dissolution of B2–NiAl during reaction processes, notably through an exponential growth relationship between maximum crystallinity and the Ni mole fraction. In material processing and handling processes, premixed interlayer often replace the ideal Ni/Al interface, which would become a new origin of alloying reaction. This work investigates shock-induced reaction mechanism and kinetics of premixed Ni/Al nanolaminates with molecular dynamics simulations and theoretical analysis. The reaction is found to be driven by the crystallization evolution in premixed interlayer and the diffusion of premixed atoms. Among them, multi-stage reaction patterns are strongly manifested by the crystallization evolution characteristics. Specifically, "crystallization-dissolution-secondary growth" and "crystallization-dissolution" of B2 phase respectively correspond to the solid-state and solid-liquid reaction cases, where crystallizations are fitted well by Johnson–Mehl–Avrami kinetics model. Interestingly, the different growth mechanisms of B2 grain are revealed, namely nuclei coalescence and atomic diffusion. Moreover, the analysis of microscopic diffusion theory indicates a certain non-random diffusion nature for solid-state reaction initiation, but near-purely random diffusion for solid-liquid reaction initiation. The diffused Al atoms possess a limited diffusion coefficient and enhanced diffusion correlation, resulting in extremely slow mixing rate in Ni layer. In order to improve the mechanical properties of the ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber‐reinforced high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) composite, carbon nanotube (CNT) was grafted on the UHMWPE fiber. The UHMWPE fiber/HDPE composite was prepared by injection molding process, and the effects of CNT contents on the mechanical properties of composite materials were studied. The results show that the mass fraction of CNT will significantly affect the mechanical properties of the composite. When the CNT content is 4 wt%, the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, and impact strength of the UHMWPE fiber/treated CNT/HDPE composite increased compared to the UHMWPE fiber/CNT/HDPE composite and UHMWPE fiber/HDPE composite. When the CNT content is 4 wt%, the above‐mentioned performance is the best. Pull‐out and fracture, bridging effect, and crack deflection effect are the main mechanisms of CNTs in UHMWPE fiber/HDPE composites. During ultradeep oil and gas drilling, fluid loss reducers are highly important for water-based drilling fluids, while preparing high temperature- and salt-resistance fluid loss reducers with excellent rheology and filtration performance remains a challenge. Herein, a micro-crosslinked amphoteric hydrophobic association copolymer (i.e., DADC) was synthesized using N,N-dimethyl acrylamide, diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, hydrophobic monomer, and pentaerythritol triallyl ether crosslinker. Due to the synergistic effects of hydrogen bonds, electrostatic interaction, hydrophobic association, and micro-crosslinking, the DADC copolymer exhibited outstanding temperature- and salt-resistance. The rheological experiments have shown that the DADC copolymer had excellent shear dilution performance and a certain degree of salt-responsive viscosity-increasing performance. The DADC copolymer could effectively adsorb on the surface of bentonite particles through electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonds, which bring more negative charge to the bentonite, thus improving the hydration and dispersion of bentonite particles as well as the colloidal stability of the drilling fluids. Moreover, the drilling fluids constructed based on the DADC copolymer exhibited satisfactory rheological and filtration properties (FLHTHP = 12 mL) after aging at high temperatures (up to 200 °C) and high salinity (saturated salt) environments. Therefore, this work provided new insights into designing and fabricating high-performance drilling fluid treatment agents, demonstrating good potential applications in deep and ultradeep drilling engineering. In order to solve the problem that the reconstruction accuracy and integrity are affected due to the large amount of point cloud data in the process of building space reconstruction, the visual reconstruction method of building space under laser point cloud big data is studied. The three-dimensional laser scanner is used to collect the laser point cloud big data in the building space, and the laser point cloud big data is organized and processed through three steps: hierarchical calculation of the point cloud pyramid, thinning treatment and block treatment. From the processing results of laser point cloud big data, the line features of building space are extracted based on the improved Mean-shift method, and the continuous broken lines in the point cloud data of building space are extracted by using the double radius threshold line tracing method. According to the feature extraction results of point cloud data in building space, the visual reconstruction of building space is completed through the process of translation matching and space matching. The experimental results show that this method can realize the visual reconstruction of architectural space, and the average reconstruction accuracy is higher than that of 97 %, and the reconstruction completion and smoothness are higher than 95 %. Objective. To study the reproductive hormones, semen quality, psychology, and sexual function of childbearing age men after recovery from Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection. Materials and Methods. We recruited 387 men of childbearing age who recovered from COVID-19 infection and underwent prepregnancy health checks at the Reproductive Center of Shandong Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January to March 2023 as study subjects. Routine semen analysis and reproductive hormones were performed. The clinical symptoms, anxiety, depression, erectile function, and premature ejaculation questionnaire were investigated during the COVID-19 infection period. A control group of 226 men of childbearing age who were not infected with COVID-19 between August 2022 and October 2022 were selected based on questionnaire responses, reproductive hormones, and semen parameters. Results. The main clinical symptoms during COVID-19 infection of the 387 research subjects were fever (342/387, 88.37%), muscle pain (155/387, 40.05%), anosmia (124/387, 32.04%), cough (106/387, 27.39%), throat pain (53/387, 13.70%), nausea and vomiting (16/387, 4.13%), and testicular discomfort (5/387, 1.29%). The rates of anxiety and depression were 11.37% (44/387) and 32.82% (127/387), respectively; erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) of the research subjects were accounted for 32.30% (125/387) and 6.98% (27/387). The IEF-5 score (P<0:001) decreased significantly compared to the control group, while the PHQ-9 score (P<0:001), the rate of increased ED (P<0:001), and the rate of depression increased (P<0:001). There were statistically significant differences in liquefaction time (P<0:05), the progressive sperm motility (P<0:05), total sperm motility (P<0:05), the rates of progressive sperm motility <32% (P<0:05), and total sperm motility <40% (P<0:05) between the 1 month, the 2 months after recovery from COVID-19 and controls. Circular cell counts (P<0:05) at 2 and 3 months were lower than in the controls. No changes in reproductive hormones before and after recovery from infection. Conclusion. COVID-19 infection exacerbates depression and ED. It has a sustained effect on sperm motility and liquefaction time in men. The effects of COVID-19 infection on semen persist for approximately 2 months, with recovery occurring in the third month. In prior research on shock-induced reaction, the interfacial crystallization of intermetallics, which plays an important role in solid-state reaction kinetics, has not been explored in detail. This work comprehensively investigates the reaction kinetics and reactivity of Ni/Al clad particle composites under shock loading with molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that the reaction acceleration in a small particle system or the reaction propagation in a large particle system breaks down the heterogeneous nucleation and continuous growth of B2 phase at the Ni/Al interface. This makes the generation and dissolution of B2-NiAl show a staged pattern consistent with chemical evolution. Importantly, the crystallization processes are appropriately described by the well-established Johnson–Mehl–Avrami kinetics model. With the increase in Al particle size, the maximum crystallinity and growth rate of B2 phase decrease and the value of the fitted Avrami exponent decreases from 0.55 to 0.39, showing a good agreement with the solid-state reaction experiment. In addition, the calculations of reactivity reveal that the reaction initiation and propagation will be retarded, but the adiabatic reaction temperature can be elevated when Al particle size increases. An exponential decay relationship is found between the propagation velocity of the chemical front and the particle size. As expected, the shock simulations at non-ambient conditions indicate that elevating the initial temperature significantly enhances the reactivity of large particle systems and results in a power-law decrease in the ignition delay time and a linear-law increase in the propagation velocity. We give investigations on a kernel function approximation problem arising from learning theory and show the convergence rate from the view of classical Fourier analysis. First, we provide the general definition for a modulus of smoothness and a K -functional, and show that they are equivalent. In particular, we give explicit representation for some moduli of smoothness. Second, we establish some Jackson-type inequalities for the approximation error associated with some non-radial kernels. Also we apply these results to some concrete classical kernel function spaces and give Jackson-type inequalities for some concrete RKHS approximation problems. Finally, we apply these discussions to learning theory and describe the learning rates with the moduli of smoothness. The tools we used are Fourier analysis and the semigroup operator. The results show that the Jackson-type inequalities of approximation by some radial kernel functions on compact set with nonempty interiors cannot be expressed with the classical moduli of smoothness. What is the intercultural significance of jazz for the development of Chinese pop music? The main content of this dissertation is to study and discuss the period when jazz music entered China and how it affects the development of past and present Chinese pop music. In today’s society, intercultural research is ubiquitous. Since the birth of civilization, people from different disciplines and artistic fields have been trying to build cultural bridges.1 China has a long history of culture and music development. With the changes of the times, China’s music civilization has been continuously developed and changed with the replacement of various dynasties in the past. In addition, Confucius’s Confucianism has influenced the development of Chinese music and music education. The history of jazz music is not very long, but it has become an indispensable element of today’s social music culture. Perhaps it is because jazz has rich musical style features, such as improvisation and unique jazz scales. In addition, the musical content of its expression is democratic and free. The musical form of Jazz music originated in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it is a combination of African black culture and European white culture. It is a kind of “hybrid” music form that affects the development of Chinese music with deep-rooted civilization, especially some Chinese pop music. The dissertation will study how jazz integrates Chinese music to produce Chinese pop music, as well as the intercultural influence of jazz, and how Jazz affects the pop singers of Chinese pop music. In order to improve the interfacial properties of carbon fiber/polyimide (CF/PI) composite, silanization reaction carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were introduced to the surface of carbon fiber by electrophoretic deposition to prepare CF/CNT/PI composite. The effects of carbon fiber surface treatment on the mechanical properties of the composites were studied. The results showed that the interlaminar shear strength and bending strength of the composite materials were increased by 11% and 9%, respectively. The scanning electron microscope and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) was used to analyze the fine structure of composite interface phase. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in the progression of many diseases including coronary heart disease (CHD), one of the leading causes of heart-related death worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the effect and mechanism of circTLK1 on vascular endothelial cell injury by targeting the miR-374a-5p/FOXO1 axis. Here, oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-treated HUVECs and HFD-fed ApoE-/-C57BL/6J mice were used as in vitro and in vivo models, and the expression levels of circTLK1, miR-374a-5p, and FOXO1 were examined by RT-qPCR or Western blot analysis. CircTLK1 and FOXO1 were found to be increased in blood of patients with coronary heart disease and ox-LDL-induced HUVECs, while miR-374a-5p was decreased. Silencing circTLK1 attenuated endothelial cell injury and atherosclerosis development in vitro and in vivo. miR-374a-5p can be sponged by circTLK1, and miR-374a-5p inhibitor can abolish the therapeutic effect of silencing circTLK1 on endothelial cell injury. In addition, miR-374a-5p bound to FOXO1, which mediated the therapeutic effect of circTLK1 silencing on vascular endothelial cell injury. Taken together, circTLK1 silencing reduces endothelial cell injury in CHD by targeting FOXO1 with miR-374a-5p, suggesting that circTLK1 may be a new target for CHD treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

First‐principles calculations are employed to explore the elastic anisotropy and thermal properties of Mg–Ti–O compounds (MgTiO3, MgTi2O5, and Mg2TiO4). The structure parameters used in this work are in good agreement with other theoretical and experimental results. The mechanical stability and ductile nature are demonstrated. The elastic anisotropy is characterized by different anisotropy indexes, three‐dimensional (3D) surface constructions, and two‐dimensional (2D) projections of Young's modulus. Besides, the sound velocities, Debye temperature, and minimum thermal conductivity are also investigated from the elastic modulus. Introduction: Thymoma is the most common anterior mediastinal tumor and is closely associated with myasthenia gravis (MG). Our previous study showed that the expression of Th17 cells increased and the expression of Treg decreased in MG-associated thymoma tissues and peripheral blood. High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is an inflammatory mediator and participates in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. However, its function in thymoma is still unclear. Material and methods: We first analyzed immune indices in peripheral blood of patients with MG-associated thymoma and patients with thymoma alone. Next, we explored the expression of HMGB1 in MG-associated thymoma and thymoma alone tissues. Furthermore, we transfected si-HMGB1 in thymoma cell line Thy0517 and co-cultured Thy0517 with peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Results: In this study, the levels of IgG, C3, C4, CRP and globulins in peripheral blood of patients with MG-associated thymoma were different from those of patients with thymoma alone (p < 0.05). The expression of HMGB1 in MG-associated thymoma tissues was higher than thymoma alone. Co-culture of Thy0517 and PBMC showed that the percentage of Th17 cells in PBMC was lower than that in the control group, and the percentage of Treg cells was higher than that in the control group. Conclusions: These findings demonstrate that HMGB1 is involved in the mechanism of abnormal Th17/Treg cell differentiation in thymoma and affects the occurrence of immune abnormalities in MG-associated thymoma. Scutellarin (SCU) is a herbal flavonoid glucuronide with multiple pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammation, vascular relaxation, anti-platelet, and myocardial protection. However, the effect of SCU on complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced rheumatoid arthritis (RA) had not been studied. In this study, we investigated the beneficial effects of SCU in the CFA-induced RA mice model and the anti-arthritic activity was evaluated by paw edema. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was carried out to evaluate the plasma levels of immunoglobulin (Ig)G, IgE, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL), and osteoprotegerin (OPG). Histological slides were prepared from the harvested paws of mice to determine the pathological changes in the joints. The proportions of T helper type 1 (Th1) and T helper type 2 (Th2) cells of CD4+ T lymphocyte subsets were analyzed by flow cytometry. The expression of Kelch-like ECHassociated protein 1 (Keap1), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) was analyzed using real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blotting assays. The present study demonstrated that SCU prevented CFA-induced RA, and inhibited the expression of inflammation factors, IgG, IgE, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. While SCU also reduced the RANKL level, it increased OPG expression in RA mice. The Th1/Th2 ratio was significantly lower in mice treated with SCU. Additionally, HO-1 expression was reduced while the expression of Keap1 and Nrf2 was elevated following SCU treatment. Results provide preliminary evidence to employ SCU in arthritis treatment which might be related to the regulation of Th1/Th2 balance and the Keap1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By using molecular dynamics, we have investigated the effect of nanoscale helium (He) bubbles on the formation of micro-jets and the various physical mechanisms under supported and unsupported shock wave loading. Our simulations suggest that the micro-jet is primarily influenced by the local dynamics of the nano-He bubbles, as the velocity of the shock wave in copper–helium (Cu–He) system is slightly slower than in pure Cu. The expansion of He bubbles can accelerate the velocity of the jet head, but this effect disappears during the released tensile stage. We categorize the behavior of nano-He bubbles into three types: Type A bubbles are in the micro-jet forming region, and their expansion increases the velocity and rupture of the jet. Type B bubbles are located between the micro-jets, and their compression and rapid bursting accelerate the free surface. Type C bubbles are situated far from the free surface and mainly affect the propagation of the shock wave and the released damage process. The global effects of the He bubble are similar under both supported and unsupported shock wave loading. However, the evolution of Type C He bubbles is significantly different under unsupported shock wave loading, with pressure-atom volume and density attenuated to zero and temperature reduced to the initial temperature due to the strong tensile effect. Overall, our study has revealed the differences in the evolution process of He bubbles and their dynamic effects during the formation of micro-jets under different compressed and released paths. A superhard carbon phase with Pmmm (D2h1, 47) symmetry is predicted by using a recently developed particle swarm optimization method for searching for crystal structures. The carbon phase is an orthorhombic crystal system that contains 16 atoms per unit cell, named oC16, which has an all-sp3-hybridized bonding network and contains a large cavity. oC16 has a distinct topology, including zigzag four-, five-, six-, and eightfold carbon rings. The dynamic, elastic, and electronic properties of oC16 are investigated by first-principles calculations, and the results show that oC16 is more energetically stable than the experimentally synthesized T-carbon, BC8, and BC12. The phonon spectra and elastic constants confirm its dynamical and mechanical stability at zero pressure, respectively. The calculated bulk moduli and hardness indicate that oC16 is an ultra-incompressible and superhard material. Analyzing its electronic band structure reveals that oC16 has insulation characteristics with an indirect bandgap of 4.42 eV. Also investigated is how the elastic moduli of the oC16 phase depend on the crystal orientation. Because of its superhard and porous properties, the potential uses of oC16 include hydrogen storage, molecular sieves, coating, and tools for cutting, polishing, and grinding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work investigates the deformation and dynamic property of the pre-existing void or helium (He) bubble in aluminum (Al) under compression and tension with molecular dynamics simulations, where both the uniaxial and triaxial loadings at a high strain rate are considered. Under compression, the void completely collapses by plastic deformation and after that a recrystallization process is found. The He bubble undergoes a finite collapse because of its internal pressure. Solidification of the He bubble is also observed at a sufficiently high pressure. Moreover, stacking fault tetrahedrons (SFTs) are found under the triaxial compression, instead of the shear dislocation loops under the uniaxial compression. Under tension, the volume of the void or He bubble is nearly proportional to the strain before instability and begins to grow sharply after instability. The instability volumes of the void or He bubble and the corresponding strains approximately satisfy a linear reduction distribution. When the pre-existing void collapses completely, new void nucleation will appear under tension. Interestingly, the triaxial tension produces a large void from the vertex of SFTs, while uniaxial tension produces many small voids at the intersection of the stacking faults. As for the He bubble, it will first be elongated along the tension direction under uniaxial tension. With the increase of tension strain, the void or He bubble grows into an irregular polyhedron and tends to be isotropic for both uniaxial and triaxial tension. In the meantime, the He atoms will deposit on the boundary eventually because the attraction between He and Al is included. In addition, the difference of temperature and pressure between the He bubble and Al matrix is discussed, and an empirical model is proposed to describe the He bubble pressure during the loading process. In addition to complex deformation, high-speed nanoparticles in gas are also accompanied by significant size and interfacial effects. In this work, we simulate the transportation behavior of high-speed aluminum nanoparticles in helium gas with the classical molecular dynamics method. The evolution of aerothermodynamic quantities of solid particles and liquid particles is revealed, and different temperature rise effects are found. Furthermore, the melting of aluminum particles induced by high aerodynamic drag force is discovered, and the melting threshold conditions are proposed. In low-density (0.002 g/cm3) and high-density (0.02 g/cm3) gas, the initial velocity at which particles start to melt is 6 and 4 km/s, respectively. During the deformation of solid particles, the evolution of dislocation motion is discussed, and the evolution of the development characteristics of the molten layer is given. During the deformation of the liquid particles, vibration deformation and bag deformation modes are observed. The threshold conditions for deformation mode transitions are also given. Only in high-density gas, bag deformation occurs when the initial velocity of particles (D > 5 nm) exceeds 6 km/s. The local mechanical quantity of gas is used to explain the variation of the drag force of the particles. Moreover, the drag force model is corrected according to temperature and deformation effects. Within a certain period, the model results overestimate the drag force, and the error with the simulation results is about 25%. Protein homeostasis (proteostasis) is essential for cellular function and organismal health and requires the concerted actions of protein synthesis, folding, transport, and turnover. In sexually reproducing organisms, the immortal germline lineage passes genetic information across generations. Accumulating evidence indicates the importance of proteome integrity for germ cells as genome stability. As gametogenesis involves very active protein synthesis and is highly energy-demanding, it has unique requirements for proteostasis regulation and is sensitive to stress and nutrient availability. The heat shock factor 1 (HSF1), a key transcriptional regulator of cellular response to cytosolic and nuclear protein misfolding has evolutionarily conserved roles in germline development. Similarly, insulin/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) signaling, a major nutrient-sensing pathway, impacts many aspects of gametogenesis. Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a life-threatening malignant disease of the digestive system, which is still a leading cause of cancer death worldwide. RNA methylation, a fundamental process in epigenetic regulation, also plays an important role in tumor development. Nevertheless, the functional mechanisms of 7-methylguanosine (m7G) methylation-related gene in CRC are unclear. Methods: The differential expression of m7G methylation-related gene between CRC tissues and normal tissues in UCSC XENA, TCGA and GTEx was verified using R. Cox regression, Nomogram were used to construct corresponding prognostic models of CRC. Kaplan-Meier analysis, receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, clinical correlation analysis and enrichment analysis were used to further investigate the correlation and functional mechanisms of m7G methylation-related gene with CRC. Immuno-infiltration was used to verify the relationship between nudix hydroxylase 10 (NUDT10) and immune cells, while methylation analysis was used to study the promoter methylation of NUDT10. Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the protein expression between CRC tissues and normal tissues. The ceRNA regulatory network was used to identify the mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA regulatory axis. Results: The m7G methylation-related gene NUDT10 was lowly expressed in CRC. Cox regression, Nomogram and calibration curve finally identified NUDT10 as the novel prognostic biomarker of CRC and constructed the corresponding prognostic models. The results of immunohistochemistry showed that the protein expression levels of NUDT10 differed between CRC tissues and normal tissues. In addition, NUDT10 had predictive power for CRC and the expression of NUDT10 in CRC was closely associated with immune infiltration. Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis revealed that biological functions such as the regulation of angiogenesis, muscle contraction, transporter complex and gated channel activity, pathways such as heme metabolism, hypoxia, cholinergic synapse, apical junction and epithelial mesenchymal transition all play a role in the development of CRC. The study of methylation revealed that NUDT10 showed hyper-methylation in both CRC and normal tissues, in which the promoter methylation of DNA in CRC was lower than that in normal colon and rectum. The ceRNA regulatory network revealed that 3 lncRNAs such as XIST, interfered the expression of NUDT10 through 6 miRNAs such as hsa-miR-23a-3p, and then affected the development of CRC. Conclusion: The m7G methylation-related gene NUDT10 can be used as novel biomarker in CRC. Owing to the smaller cross‐sectional size of the billet, the effect of the position of the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) on the fluid flow in a curved mold is more prominent. The transient fluid flow, heat transfer, and solidification behavior at different nozzle positions and mold electromagnetic stirring (M‐EMS) are investigated using a 3D transient mathematical model. The symmetry index, S, is introduced to quantitatively evaluate the symmetry of the flow field. When the SEN is offset to the outer curve, S is the highest, the flow field mixing is the best, and the liquid level fluctuation is minimal. When the SEN is offset to the inner curve, S is the lowest, and the washing of the solidified shell on the inner curve side is more significant, causing the solidified shell thickness on the inner curve to be thinner, which can easily cause steel breakout accidents. The M‐EMS can improve the uneven flow field caused by the nozzle position. Aurora kinases (AURKs) are mitotic kinases important for regulating cell cycle progression. Small-molecule inhibitors of AURK have shown promising antitumor effects in multiple cancers; however, the utility of these inhibitors as inducers of cancer cell death has thus far been limited. Here, we examined the role of the Bcl-2 family proteins in AURK inhibition-induced apoptosis in colon cancer cells. We found that alisertib and danusertib, two small-molecule inhibitors of AURK, are inefficient inducers of apoptosis in HCT116 and DLD-1 colon cancer cells, the survival of which requires at least one of the two antiapoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins, Bcl-xL and Mcl-1. We further identified Bcl-xL as a major suppressor of alisertib- or danusertib-induced apoptosis in HCT116 cells. We demonstrate that combination of a Bcl-2 homology (BH)3- mimetic inhibitor (ABT-737), a selective inhibitor of Bcl-xL, Bcl-2, and Bcl-w, with alisertib or danusertib potently induces apoptosis through the Bcl-2 family effector protein Bax. In addition, we identified Bid, Puma, and Noxa, three BH3-only proteins of the Bcl-2 family, as mediators of alisertib-ABT-737-induced apoptosis. We show while Noxa promotes apoptosis by constitutively sequestering Mcl-1, Puma becomes associated with Mcl-1 upon alisertib treatment. On the other hand, we found that alisertib treatment causes activation of caspase-2, which promotes apoptosis by cleaving Bid into truncated Bid, a suppressor of both Bcl-xL and Mcl-1. Together, these results define the Bcl-2 protein network critically involved in AURK inhibitor-induced apoptosis and suggest that BH3-mimetics targeting Bcl-xL may help overcome resistance to AURK inhibitors in cancer cells. Zeolites are microporous silicates with a large variety of applications as catalysts, adsorbents, and cation exchangers. Stable silica-based zeolites with increased porosity are in demand to allow adsorption and processing of large molecules but challenge our synthetic ability. We report a new, highly stable pure silica zeolite called ZEO-3, which has a multidimensional, interconnected system of extra-large pores open through windows made by 16 and 14 silicate tetrahedra, the least dense polymorph of silica known so far. This zeolite was formed by an unprecedented one-dimensional to three-dimensional (1D-to-3D) topotactic condensation of a chain silicate. With a specific surface area of more than 1000 square meters per gram, ZEO-3 showed a high performance for volatile organic compound abatement and recovery compared with other zeolites and metal-organic frameworks. Background: The incidence of herpes zoster (HZ) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients is high, and the symptoms are usually severe and resistant to treatment, and the prognosis is poor. Ultraviolet (UV) A1 is a band of UV light, and UVA1 phototherapy has been widely used to treat various inflammatory skin diseases. Objective: At present, UVA1 has been considered as a potential adjuvant therapy for HZ in SLE patients. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report concerning the successful application of UVA1 in the treatment of HZ secondary to SLE. Methods: In this article, a clinical case report is presented, wherein the patient did not respond to conventional treatment, but was markedly responsive to the treatment of UVA1 phototherapy, and well tolerated. Results: A 29-year-old woman with severe HZ secondary to SLE was successfully treated with UVA1 phototherapy. The distributed kernel ridge regression (DKRR) has shown great potential in processing complicated tasks. However, DKRR only made use of the local samples that failed to capture the global characteristics. Besides, the existing optimal learning guarantees were provided in expectation and only pertain to the attainable case that the target regression lies exactly in the kernel space. In this paper, we propose distributed learning with globally-shared Nyström centers (DNyström), which utilizes global information across the local clients. We also study the statistical properties of DNyström in expectation and in probability, respectively, and obtain several state-of-the-art results with the minimax optimal learning rates. Note that, the optimal convergence rates for DNyström pertain to the non-attainable case, while the statistical results allow more partitions and require fewer Nyström centers. Finally, we conduct experiments on several real-world datasets to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, and the empirical results coincide with our theoretical findings. The structural, mechanical, and thermal properties of Li2MO3 (M = Sn, Zr, and Ti) ceramics are explored by using first-principles calculations. The elastic constants have been obtained to understand the mechanical behavior of these compounds. Based on these elastic constants, the values of elastic modulus, Possion's ratio, B/G, hardness, sound velocity, and Debye temperature for Li2MO3 were calculated. The anisotropy in elastic modulus was also assessed by a universal index Au. The minimum thermal conductivity of Li2MO3 was evaluated by using three different models. The expression of GPR84 in bone marrow-derived monocytes/macrophages (BMMs) can inhibit osteoclast formation; however, its role in bone metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC) is still unknown. To investigate the effects of GPR84 on bone metastasis of CRC, the murine CRC cell line MC-38 was injected into tibial bone marrow. We found that the expression of GPR84 in BMMs was gradually downregulated during bone metastasis of CRC, and the activation of GPR84 significantly prevented osteoclastogenesis in the tumor microenvironment. Mechanistically, the MAPK pathway mediated the effects of GPR84 on osteoclast formation. Moreover, we found that IL-11 at least partly inhibited the expression of GPR84 in the tumor microenvironment through the inactivation of STAT1. Additionally, activation of GPR84 could prevent osteolysis during bone metastasis of CRC. Our results suggest that CRC cells downregulate the expression of GPR84 in BMMs to promote osteoclastogenesis in an IL-11-dependent manner. Bank slopes are an important part of river ecosystems. In recent years, a series of ecological engineering projects with ecological functions have been implemented in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In this study, we designed a new type of ecological slope-protection structure for rivers. Through physical model tests, the hydraulic characteristics of the structure, such as velocity, turbulence intensity, and Reynolds stress, at different test conditions were analyzed. These characteristics were then compared with those of an open channel with vegetation. The distributions of hydraulic properties determined in the open-channel tests involving the new structure were similar for different experimental conditions. Velocity and turbulence intensity are hyperbolic along the normal direction, whereas the Reynolds stress is close to zero. Several inflection points were observed in each distribution of hydraulic properties. The inflection point at the top is due to variations in the water flow conditions. On the outside, a second inflection point occurs because the water flow fluctuates violently near the new structure. The distribution of hydraulic properties in the far water layer is similar to that observed in a soft bed test. This study provides foundational knowledge for the future development of ecological slope-protection structures. A new ecological slope-protection structure is proposed. The distribution of hydraulic characteristics of an open channel with the new structure is analyzed. The zoning of shore slopes for the construction of the new structure is presented. Approximately 20% of patients with lung nodules (LNs) have multiple LNs (MLNs). This meta-analysis was performed to assess the safety and efficacy of computed tomography (CT)-guided localization of MLNs in comparison with those of single LN (SLN) localization. The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to collect relevant articles published till February 2022. The meta-analysis was performed using the RevMan v5.3. In total, seven studies met the inclusion criteria for this meta-analysis. No significant difference was observed between patients with MLNs and SLN in terms of pooled successful localization rate based on LNs (p = 0.64) and patients (p = 0.06). The pooled duration of localization was significantly shorter and the pooled pneumothorax and lung hemorrhage rates were significantly lower in the SLN group than in the MLNs group (p < 0.00001 for all). The pooled duration of hospital stay was comparable between the MLNs and SLN groups (p = 0.96). Significant heterogeneity was observed in the endpoints of duration of localization (I2 = 75%) and pneumothorax (I2 = 53%). CT-guided simultaneous MLN localization is clinically safe and effective, despite requiring a longer procedural time and having higher incidence of pneumothorax and lung hemorrhage than SLN localization. In view of the obvious deviation of traditional methods in the analysis of basketball flight state, a basketball trajectory analysis method based on intelligent image of mobile terminal is designed. Firstly, the mobile terminal network equipment is used to effectively collect the basketball trajectory. The gray pixel set of basketball image is obtained. Combined with the nonlinear transformation method, the color of basketball image is enhanced and the image quality is effectively improved. Based on this, the running process of basketball is analyzed from two aspects of initial angle and initial running speed. High quality basketball trajectory image can ensure the accuracy of initial angle and initial running speed analysis. The experimental results show that the MAE value of this method is always lower than 0.1, the F-measure value is relatively high, and the duration of trajectory analysis is between 0.72 s and 0.81 s, which fully proves the effectiveness and feasibility of this method. BACKGROUND: The treatment of sacral fractures accompanied by nerve injury is complex and often leads to an unsatisfactory prognosis and poor quality of life in patients. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to investigate the clinical value of using 3.0T magnetic resonance contrast-enhanced three-dimensional (MR CE-3D) nerve view magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) in the diagnosis and management of a sacral fracture accompanied by a sacral plexus injury. METHODS: Thirty-two patients with a sacral fracture accompanied by a sacral plexus injury, including 24 cases of Denis spinal trauma type II and 8 cases of type III, were enrolled in the study. All patients had symptoms or signs of lumbosacral nerve injury, and an MRN examination was performed to clarify the location and severity of the sacral nerve injury. Segmental localization of the sacral plexus was done to indicate the site of the injury as being intra-spinal (IS), intra-foraminal (IF), or extra-foraminal (EF), and the severity of the nerve injury was determined as being mild, moderate, or severe. Surgical nerve exploration was then conducted in six patients with severe nerve injury. The location and severity of the nerve injury were recorded using intra-operative direct vision, and the results were statistically compared with the MRN examination results. RESULTS: MRN showed that 81 segments had mild sacral plexus injuries (8 segments of IS, 20 segments of IF, 53 segments of EF), 78 segments had moderate sacral plexus injuries (8 segments of IS, 37 segments of IF, and 33 segments of EF), and 19 segments had severe sacral plexus injuries (7 segments of IS, 9 segments of IF, and 3 segments of EF). The six patients who underwent surgery had the following intra-operative direct vision results: 3 segments of moderate injury (IF) and 20 segments of severe injury (7 segments of IS, 10 segments of IF, 3 segments of EF). There was no statistically significant difference in the results between the intra-operative direct vision and those of the MRN examination (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: MR CE-3D nerve view can clearly and accurately demonstrate the location and severity of sacral nerve injury accompanied by a sacral fracture, and has the potential for being the first choice of examination method for this kind of injury, which would be of important clinical value. The compression-induced structural transition (ST) and grain refinement of BCC Fe nanowires have been investigated based on atomistic simulations. It is found that high strain rate compression can cause nanowires to reach higher pressures and meet ST conditions, and the threshold stress of ST is found to be much lower than that of bulk materials. Thus, the compression process of nanowires at high strain rates includes elastic deformation, ST and its reverse process, grain refinement, and buckling instability. The occurrence of grain refinement is due to the fact that after undergoing ST and its reverse process, the (001) cross section of the nanowire can be transformed into different (111) planes. Furthermore, the dependence of stress threshold and nucleation structure on strain rate is revealed. When the strain rate increases to a certain threshold, HCP nucleation is found to occur on the side surface of the nanowire, but its reverse process will quickly occur due to the pressure release on the side. With the strain rate increase, the stress threshold of ST no longer satisfies a constant power-law change, and the power-law index will increase. When the strain rate exceeds 5 × 1010 s−1, the elastic deformation prior to ST also exhibits strong nonequilibrium characteristics, causing a sharp increase in the number of HCP nuclei. Especially, the nanowires will ultimately be in a disordered state, rather than a nanocrystalline structure. Also, the cylindrical and prismatic nanowires are both considered to understand the influence of boundary morphology, and the differences in nucleation and the similarity in deformation are explained. Note that, as the strain rate increases, the cylindrical nanowires undergo HCP nucleation directly, while the prismatic nanowires undergo significant twinning deformation first. Discretization is a vital component of solving time-varying matrix inversion, which determines the effectiveness, the ability of real-time computation and the precision. Zeroing neural dynamics is a classical method for solving time-varying matrix inversion. In that method, conventional Lagrange-type finite difference formulas cannot be used for discretization because of the constraint of 0-stability. It thus leads to a lot of research in the development of effective discretization formulas. The developed formulas are uniformly called ZeaD. In this work, we develop a new method instead of zeroing neural dynamics to solve time-varying matrix inversion. We obtain a direct calculation scheme instead of a form of differential equation. Thus, Lagrange-type formulas are still effective for discretization in our method. Finally, a series of models based on Lagrange-type formulas as well as ZeaD formulas are proposed. The sunk cost effect refers to the fact that human decisions are consistently influenced by previous irrecoverable and irrelevant costs. Recent neuroimaging experiments suggest that the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) plays a pivotal role in the sunk cost effect yet the causal and neurocomputational role of the dlPFC remains elusive. In this study, two cohorts of healthy human male and female adults were recruited to complete a novel two-step decision-making task during the anodalsham or cathodal-sham high-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) over the dlPFC, respectively. Consistent with previous studies, we showed that the sunk cost deterred participants from making further investment and therefore engendered a de-escalation effect. Such behavior can be captured by a weighted mental accounting model with a recalibrated reference point in which the direction and magnitude of the sunk cost effects hinge on the decision weights apportioned to the option values. Interestingly, transcranial stimulation did not influence participants’ initial willingness to incur sunk costs but only altered sunk costs’ downstream effects. Specifically, anodal stimulation over the right dlPFC amplified the de-escalation effect of sunk costs whereas cathodal stimulation yielded the opposite result. Background: Large-scale detection has great potential to bring benefits for containing the COVID-19 epidemic and supporting the government in reopening economic activities. Evaluating the true regional mobile severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus nucleic acid testing capacity is essential to improve the overall fighting performance against this epidemic and maintain economic development. However, such a tool is not available in this issue. We aimed to establish an evaluation index system for assessing the regional mobile SARS-CoV-2 virus nucleic acid testing capacity and provide suggestions for improving the capacity level.Methods: The initial version of the evaluation index system was identified based on massive literature and expert interviews. The Delphi method questionnaire was designed and 30 experts were consulted in two rounds of questionnaire to select and revise indexes at all three levels. The Analytic Hierarchy Process method was used to calculate the weight of indexes at all three levels.Results: The evaluation index system for assessing the regional mobile SARS-CoV-2 virus nucleic acid testing capacity, including 5 first-level indexes, 17 second-level indexes, and 90 third-level indexes. The response rates of questionnaires delivered in the two rounds of consultation were 100 and 96.7%. Furthermore, the authority coefficient of 30 experts was 0.71. Kendall's coordination coefficient differences were statistically significant (P < 0.001). The weighted values of capacity indexes were established at all levels according to the consistency test, demonstrating that 'Personnel team construction' (0.2046) came first amongst the five first-level indexes, followed by 'Laboratory performance building and maintenance' (0.2023), 'Emergency response guarantee' (0.1989), 'Information management system for nucleic acid testing resources' (0.1982) and 'Regional mobile nucleic acid testing emergency response system construction' (0.1959).Conclusion: The evaluation system for assessing the regional mobile SARS-CoV-2 virus nucleic acid testing capacity puts forward a specific, objective, and quantifiable evaluation criterion. Salvianolic acid B (SAB) is a natural polyphenol with powerful antioxidant effects. Due to its inherent characteristic of inferior bioavailability, its clinical application is impeded. In this study, small SAB-incorporated nanoparticles (SFA) were synthesized via the self-assembly of SAB, ferric ions, and bovine serum albumin (BSA). Apart from antioxidant activity, the SFA nanoparticles were found to efficiently restore lysosome dysfunction induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) in human kidney proximal tubular epithelial HK-2 cells. The small size and BSA incorporation make the SFA nanoparticles to be promising AKI-targeting nanoparticles. They are rapidly accumulated and long-term retained in injured kidneys of glycerol-induced AKI mice, especially in the proximal tubules which are the key lesion location during AKI. In vivo studies indicate that SFA nanoparticles show a superior protective effect compared with the free drug by suppressing oxidative stress and maintaining lysosome homeostasis indicated by enhanced heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression and restored cathepsin B (CTSB) activity, respectively. Compared to cast-in-situ construction, prefabricated construction reduces the generation of construction waste; however, construction waste cannot be entirely eliminated through prefabrication and can be generated at each stage of its life cycle. This paper generates a system dynamics model, comprising two causal-loop diagrams and one stock-flow diagram, to simulate the effectiveness of policies on decarbonizing prefabricated concrete building waste. The model can predict the annual and total construction waste, along with the associated carbon emissions, under different policy scenarios in China by 2030. This paper focuses on prefabricated concrete buildings in China, with specific attention to the wastage of concrete, bricks, mortar, and metal. In single-factor scenario simulations, increasing landfilling fee is the most effective policy for waste decarbonization, potentially reducing carbon emissions by 31%. Increasing prefabrication rate and enhancing regulation degree at the design phase of prefabrication can directly reduce prefabricated building waste generation, subsequently resulting in an 18% and 7% carbon emissions reduction. Multi-factor scenario simulations demonstrate that the simultaneous application of all four policies is most effective, achieving a 44% reduction in carbon emissions. Globally, most high-grade ores have already been exploited. Contemporary mining tends to focus on the extraction of lower-grade ores thereby leaving large stored tailings open to the environment. As a result, current mines have emerged as hotspots for the migration of metal(loid)s and resistance genes, thereby potentially contributing to a looming public health crisis. Therefore, the management and remediation of tailings are the most challenging issues in environmental ecology. Bioremediation, a cost-effective solution for the treatment of multi-element mixed pollution (co-contamination), shows promise for the restoration of mine tailings. This review focuses on the bioremediation technologies developed to untangle the issues of non-ferrous metal mine tailings. These technologies address the environmental risks of multi-element exposure to the ecosystem and human health risks. It provides a review and comparison of current bioremediation technologies used to mineralize metal(loid)s. The role of plant-microorganisms and their mechanisms in the remediation of tailings are also discussed. The importance of "treating waste with wastes" is crucial for advancing bioremediation technologies. This approach underscores the potential for waste materials to contribute to environmental cleanup processes. The concept of a circular economy is pertinent in this context, emphasizing recycling and reuse. There's an immediate need for international collaboration. Collaboration is needed in policy-making, funding, and data accessibility. Sharing data is essential for the growth of bioremediation globally. • This is the first discovery of Paleoproterozoic nepheline syenite in Trans-North China orogen. • The rock has experienced metamorphism at 1.87 Ga following its crystallization at 1.89 Ga. • It was derived from mafic continental crust under high-pressure condition. • It indicates continental subduction at 1.9 Ga during assembly of North Craton craton. Subduction of continent is known as a feature of modern plate tectonics, and it is still unclear whether such a process also occurred in the early Precambrian. Despite of ultra-high pressure metamorphism of terrestrial rocks as a proxy of continental subduction, magmatism produced during continental subduction is also a potential alternative. The North China craton is well-known for the occurrence of 1.9 Ga retrograde eclogite, which was likely originated from the subducting oceanic crust along the Trans-North China Orogen (TNCO). Here a nepheline syenite (the Aohu pluton), the first of the kind from the TNCO, is discovered in Yunzhong Mts. It comprises nepheline (∼20 vol%), albite (50–55 vol%), K-feldspar (5–10 vol%), biotite (∼10 vol%), and calcite (∼5 vol%), with minor accessory minerals. No associated mafic or silicic rocks are outcropped in the pluton. SHRIMP zircon U-Pb analyses yield a crystallization age of 1893 ± 13 Ma and a metamorphic overprinting of 1871 ± 17 Ma. The rocks have medium SiO 2 contents (51.9–58.9 wt%), low MgO (0.6–1.6 wt%) and Mg# (24–34), but high Al 2 O 3 (20.0–22.9 wt%) and extremely high K 2 O + Na 2 O contents (10.0–13.6 wt%; Na 2 O/K 2 O = 1.3–2.6). They are enriched in light rare earth elements (REEs) and large ion lithophile elements, but relatively depleted in heavy REEs and high field strengthen elements. They have extremely low compatible elements (e.g., Ni and Cr). They show high (87Sr/86Sr) i ratios (0.706–0.707) but low ε Nd (t) values (−5.3 to −6.0; Nd T 2DM = ca. 2.7 Ga). Their zircon in-situ ε Hf (t) values have a wide range (0 to −5.7; Hf T 2DM = 2.5–2.85 Ga). The absence of mafic component and the extremely low-Mg feature, as well as their trace element patterns and initial Sr-Nd isotopes being compatible with melts derived from the Archean mafic crustal enclaves in the region, support a continental crust origin for the Aohu nepheline syenite. Based on comparison and modeling, we suggest that its generation was most likely under ultra-high pressure condition. It is thus proposed that continental subduction (into the mantle) might have occurred in the TNCO during the Paleoproterozoic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work exploded the effect of silica nanoparticles on shock adiabatic relation and tensile fracture in polyurethane based on atomistic simulations. It is found that the non-uniform interface structures introduced by nanoparticles can increase the shock impedance, which also leading to increased twisting of polyurethane chains and the generation of local hotspots near the nanoparticles. The interface structures near the nanoparticle consists of polyurethane chains with a high gyration radius, and the average gyration radius increases approximately linearly with the increase in nanoparticle content. At lower shock velocity, the potential energy increment initially increases and then decreases with the increase in nanoparticle content. Bond analysis reveal that flexible segments dominate the bending and twisting deformations of polyurethane, while nanoparticles enhance the corresponding deformation degrees. Furthermore, nanoparticles can serve as void nucleation sites for early-stage tensile damage, resulting in a decrease in fracture strength. Differing from metals, the relationship between tensile strength and fracture temperature follows a more linear law. Nanoparticles inhibit the later growth and coalescence of voids by increasing the temperature and steric hindrance. The density and size distribution characteristics of voids are consistent with the changes in potential energy during the shock compression process. Unlike classical spallation, the curled polyurethane chains in the tensile region gradually orient along the shock direction, evolving into a void-fiber structure. • Reveals the inherent mechanisms by which nanoparticles increase shock impedance and induce compression, bending and twisting deformation of molecular chains. • A more linear relationship between tensile strength and fracture temperature in polyurethane when modified with nanoparticles. • Nanoparticles play a role in suppressing the later growth and coalescence of voids, influenced by temperature and steric hindrance effects.
