Due to cost benefits, supply chains of integrated circuits (ICs) are largely outsourced nowadays. However, passing ICs through various third-party providers gives rise to many security threats, like piracy of IC intellectual property or insertion of hardware Trojans, i.e., malicious circuit modifications. In this work, we proactively and systematically protect the physical layouts of ICs against post-design insertion of Trojans. Toward that end, we propose TroLLoc, a novel scheme for IC security closure that employs, for the first time, logic locking and layout hardening in unison. TroLLoc is fully integrated into a commercial-grade design flow, and TroLLoc is shown to be effective, efficient, and robust. Our work provides in-depth layout and security analysis considering the challenging benchmarks of the ISPD'22/23 contests for security closure. We show that TroLLoc successfully renders layouts resilient, with reasonable overheads, against (i) general prospects for Trojan insertion as in the ISPD'22 contest, (ii) actual Trojan insertion as in the ISPD'23 contest, and (iii) potential second-order attacks where adversaries would first (i.e., before Trojan insertion) try to bypass the locking defense, e.g., using advanced machine learning attacks. It has been more than 30 years since the enigmatic 21 {\mu}m emission feature was first discovered in protoplanetary nebulae (PPNs). Although dozens of different dust carrier candidates have been proposed, there is as yet no widely accepted one. We present the results of molecular observations toward 21{\mu}m objects using the 10m Submillimeter Telescope of Arizona Radio Observatory at the 1.3 mm band and the 13.7 m telescope of Purple Mountain Observatory at the 3mm band, aiming to investigate whether the gas-phase environments of these unusual sources have some peculiarities compared to normal PPNs. We detect 31 emission lines belonging to seven different molecular species, most of which are the first detection in 21 {\mu}m PPNs. The observations provide clues on the identification of the 21 {\mu}m feature. We report a correlation study between the fractional abundance of gas-phase molecules and the strengths of the 21 {\mu}m emission. Our study shows that given the small sample size, the 21 {\mu}m feature has weak or no correlations with the gas-phase molecules. Context. IRAS 19312+1950 is an isolated infrared source that exhibits a characteristic quasi-point-symmetric morphology in the near- and mid-infrared images and is also very bright in molecular radio lines. Because of its unique observational characteristics, various observational studies have been conducted and several hypotheses have been proposed regarding its origin, which is still unclear. So far, it has been suggested that it could be a peculiar evolved star, a young stellar object, or even a red nova remnant. Regardless of which type of object it is ultimately classified as, IRAS 19312+1950 is exceptionally bright in the infrared and molecular radio lines and therefore will undoubtedly be crucial as a prototype of this kind of object having a peculiar nature or unusual evolutionary phase. Aims. This study aims to reveal the molecular composition of the central part of IRAS 19312+1950 by performing an unbiased molecular radio line survey and discussing the origin of the object from a molecular chemical point of view. Methods. We carried out a spectral line survey with the IRAM 30 m telescope towards the center of IRAS 19312+1950 in the 3 and 1.3 mm windows. Results. In total, 28 transition lines of 22 molecular species and those isotopologues are detected towards IRAS 19312+1950, some of which exhibit a broad and a narrow components. Seventeen thermal lines and 1 maser line are newly detected. The molecular species of C$^{17}$O, $^{30}$SiO, HN$^{13}$C, HC$^{18}$O$^{+}$, H$_{2}$CO, and $c$-C$_{3}$H$_{2}$ are detected for the first time in this object. Conclusions. Our results, in combination with previous studies, favor the hypothesis that IRAS 19312+1950 might be a red nova remnant, in which the progenitors that merged to become a red nova may have contained at least two evolved stars with oxygen-rich and carbon-rich chemistry, respectively., Comment: 30 pages, 24 figures, accepted for publication in A&A

Toward that end, we propose a multiplexer-based logic-locking scheme that is (i) devised for layout-level Trojan prevention, (ii) resilient against state-of-the-art, oracle-less machine learning attacks, and (iii) fully integrated into a tailored, yet generic, commercial-grade design flow. Our work provides in-depth security and layout analysis on a challenging benchmark suite. We show that ours can render layouts resilient, with reasonable overheads, against Trojan insertion in general and also against second-order attacks (i.e., adversaries seeking to bypass the locking defense in an oracle-less setting). Context. Level population inversion of hydrogen atoms in ionized gas may lead to stimulated emission of hydrogen recombination lines, and the level populations can in turn be affected by powerful stimulated emissions. Aims. In this work the interaction of the radiation fields and the level population inversion of hydrogen atoms is studied. The effect of the stimulated emissions on the line profiles is also investigated. Methods. Our previous nl-model for calculating level populations of hydrogen atoms and hydrogen recombination lines is improved. The effects of line and continuum radiation fields on the level populations are considered in the improved model. By using this method the properties of simulated hydrogen recombination lines and level populations are used in analyses. Results. The simulations show that hydrogen radio recombination lines are often emitted from the energy level with an inverted population. The widths of Hn$\alpha$ lines can be significantly narrowed by strong stimulated emissions to be even less than 10 km s$^{-1}$. The amplification of hydrogen recombination lines is more affected by the line optical depth than by the total optical depth. The influence of stimulated emission on the estimates of electron temperature and density of ionized gas is evaluated. We find that comparing multiple line-to-continuum ratios is a reliable method for estimating the electron temperature, while the effectiveness of the estimation of electron density is determined by the relative significance of stimulated emission., Comment: Accepted for published in A&A. 25 pages, 13 figures

We present observations of the carbon-rich protoplanetary nebula (PPN) CRL 2688 made with the Institut de Radioastronomie Millimetrique (IRAM) 30 m telescope in the 3mm and 2mm bands. In total, 196 transition lines belonging to 38 molecular species and isotopologues are detected, among which, to our best knowledge, 153 transition lines and 13 species are the first report for this object. Additionally, in order to contribute to future research, we have collected observational data on the molecular lines of CRL 2688 from the literature and compiled them into a single unified catalog. We find that the molecular abundance of CRL 2688 cannot be explained by the standard model of a circumstellar envelope. A spectral line survey of IRC +10216 between 13.3 and 18.5 GHz is carried out using the Shanghai Tian Ma 65 m Radio Telescope (TMRT-65m) with a sensitivity of < 7 mK. Thirty-five spectral lines of 12 different molecules and radicals are detected in total. Except for SiS, the detected molecules are all carbon-chain molecules, including HC3N, HC5N, HC7N, HC9N, C6H, C6H-, C8H, SiC2, SiC4, c-C3H2 and l-C5H. The presence of rich carbon-bearing molecules is consistent with the identity of IRC +10216 as a carbon-rich AGB star. We present spectral line mapping observations toward four massive star-forming regions (Cepheus A, DR21S, S76E and G34.26+0.15), with the IRAM 30 meter telescope at 2 mm and 3 mm bands. Totally 396 spectral lines from 51 molecules, one helium recombination line, ten hydrogen recombination lines, and 16 unidentified lines were detected in these four sources. An emission line of nitrosyl cyanide (ONCN, 14$_{0,14}$-13$_{0,13}$) was detected in G34.26+0.15, as first detection in massive star-forming regions. We found that the $c$-C$_{3}$H$_{2}$ and NH$_{2}$D show enhancement in shocked regions as suggested by evidences of SiO and/or SO emission. Column density and rotational temperature of CH$_{3}$CN were estimated with the rotational diagram method for all four sources. Isotope abundance ratios of $^{12}$C/$^{13}$C were derived using HC$_{3}$N and its $^{13}$C isotopologue, which were around 40 in all four massive star-forming regions and slightly lower than the local interstellar value ($\sim$65). $^{14}$N/$^{15}$N and $^{16}$O/$^{18}$O abundance ratios in these sources were also derived using double isotopic method, which were slightly lower than that in local interstellar medium. Except for Cep A, $^{33}$S/$^{34}$S ratio in the other three targets were derived, which were similar to that in the local interstellar medium. The column density ratios of N(DCN)/N(HCN) and N(DCO$^{+}$)/N(HCO$^{+}$) in these sources were more than two orders of magnitude higher than the elemental [D]/[H] ratio, which is 1.5$\times$10$ ^{-5}$. Our results show the later stage sources, G34.26+0.15 in particular, present more molecular species than earlier stage ones.
