The meaningful correlations between the zero-sound modes and the stiffness of the nuclear equation of state (EOS) are uncovered in nuclear matter with the relativistic mean-field theory. It is demonstrated that the high-density zero-sound modes merely exist in models with the stiff EOS. While the stiff EOS can be softened by including {\omega}-meson self-interactions (the {\omega}4 term), the weakened coupling of the {\omega}-meson self-interactions reignites the zero sound at high density. These results suggest that the high-density zero-sound modes can be used to probe the stiffness of the EOS at supra-normal densities. The implications and effects of zero sounds are also discussed in heavy ion collisions and neutron stars.

Neutron star tidal deformability extracted from gravitational wave data provides a novel probe to the interior neutron star structures and the associated nuclear equation of state (EOS). Instead of the popular composition of nucleons and leptons in neutron stars, we include hyperons and examine the role of hyperons in the tidal deformability and its impact on the symmetry energy in a relativistic mean-field approach with the density-dependent parametrizations. The hyperons are found to have significant impact on the deformability, correlated sensitively with the onset density and fraction of hyperons in neutron star matter. Moderately lower onset density of hyperons can yield considerable modification to the tidal deformability and shift its inference on the nuclear EOS. The future measurements of the tidal deformability at multi-fiducial star masses are anticipated to lift the degeneracy between the contributions from the hyperon component and symmetry energy., Comment: to appear in Phys. The relationship between deexcitation energies of superdeformed secondary minima relative to ground states and the density dependence of the symmetry energy is investigated for heavy nuclei using the relativistic mean field (RMF) model. It is shown that the deexcitation energies of superdeformed secondary minima are sensitive to differences in the symmetry energy that are mimicked by the isoscalar-isovector coupling included in the model. With deliberate investigations on a few Hg isotopes that have data of deexcitation energies, we find that the description for the deexcitation energies can be improved due to the softening of the symmetry energy. Further, we have investigated deexcitation energies of odd-odd heavy nuclei that are nearly independent of pairing correlations, and have discussed the possible extraction of the constraint on the density dependence of the symmetry energy with the measurement of deexcitation energies of these nuclei., Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures

The role of the isoscalar hyperon Lambda in probing the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy is studied in multi-Lambda hypernuclei, hyperon-rich matter and neutron stars in relativistic models. Relationships between the properties of three types of objects and the neutron thickness in 208Pb are established with respect to the isoscalar-isovector coupling that modifies the density dependence of the symmetry energy. The exotic isotopes far from the neutron drip line can be stabilized by filling in considerable Lambda hyperons. The difference of the binding energy of multi-Lambda hypernuclei from different models is attributed to different symmetry energies. The isovector potential together with the neutron thickness in multi-Lambda hypernuclei investigated is very sensitive to the isoscalar-isovector coupling. The large sensitivity of the Lambda hyperon fraction to the isoscalar-isovector coupling occurs at about 2-3 rho_0 in beta equilibrated hyperon-rich matter. We use a relativistic mean field model to study the charge density distributions of exotic oxygen isotopes. Nonlinear isoscalar-isovector terms which are not constrained by the present data are considered and the $\rho NN$ tensor coupling that does not affect the symmetry energy in the mean field model is included. Strong correlations between the neutron radius of $^{208}$Pb and the charge radius of $^{12,13,23,24}$O are found. The $\rho NN$ tensor coupling explicitly enhances the radius correlations between $^{23,24}$O and $^{208}$Pb. This enhancement is due to the neutron occupation of the orbital $2s_{1/2}$. The thermodynamic interaction at thermodynamic equilibrium in the free fermion gas is alternatively described by the coupling of particles with a scalar thermodynamic field which features a self-interaction. The gauge fields in $SU_c(3)$ symmetry are investigated with thermodynamic interactions. Six off-diagonal gluons acquire effective masses through the decolorization of thermodynamic fields using the Higgs mechanism. For the free Fermion gas at thermodynamic equilibrium, the temperature which represents the averaged kinetic energy is demonstrated to have the proper property which is invariant under the Lorentz boost, using the conceptions of the relativistic quantum field theory and statistical physics. The thermodynamic interaction is described by the coupling of particles with the vacuum of a scalar pseudo boson which features a self-interaction.
