Nonradiative carrier recombinations at deep centers in semiconductors are of great importance for both fundamental physics and device engineering. In this article, we provide a revised analysis of Huang’s original nonradiative multi-phonon (NMP) theory with ab initio calculations. First, we confirmed at the first-principles level that Huang’s concise formula gives the same results as the matrix-based formula, and that Huang’s high-temperature formula provides an analytical expression for the coupling constant in Marcus theory. Secondly, we correct for anharmonic effects by taking into account local phonon-mode variations for different charge states of a defect. The corrected capture rates for defects in GaN and SiC agree well with experiments.

On 9 October 2022, the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) reported the observation of the very early TeV afterglow of the brightest-of-all-time gamma-ray burst 221009A, recording the highest photon statistics in the TeV band ever obtained from a gamma-ray burst. We use this unique observation to place stringent constraints on the energy dependence of the speed of light in vacuum, a manifestation of Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) predicted by some quantum gravity (QG) theories. Our results show that the 95% confidence level lower limits on the QG energy scales are E_{QG,1}>10 times the Planck energy E_{Pl} for the linear LIV effect, and E_{QG,2}>6×10^{-8}E_{Pl} for the quadratic LIV effect. Our limits on the quadratic LIV case improve previous best bounds by factors of 5-7.

In this Letter we try to search for signals generated by ultraheavy dark matter at the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) data. We look for possible γ rays by dark matter annihilation or decay from 16 dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the field of view of the LHAASO. Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are among the most promising targets for indirect detection of dark matter that have low fluxes of astrophysical γ-ray background while having large amount of dark matter. By analyzing more than 700 days of observational data at LHAASO, no significant dark matter signal from 1 TeV to 1 EeV is detected. Accordingly we derive the most stringent constraints on the ultraheavy dark matter annihilation cross section up to EeV. The constraints on the lifetime of dark matter in decay mode are also derived.

Background: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of postoperative adjuvant lenvatinib + PD-1 blockade for patients with early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with microvascular invasion (MVI)., Methods: A total of 393 patients with HCC (Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage 0 or A) who underwent curative hepatectomy with histopathologically proven MVI were enrolled according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and assigned to 2 groups: surgery alone (surgery-alone group) and surgery with lenvatinib and PD-1 blockade (surgery + lenvatinib + PD-1 group) to compare recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS), recurrence type, and annual recurrence rate after the application of propensity score matching (PSM). The Cox proportional hazards model was used for univariate and multivariate analyses., Results: Overall, 99 matched pairs were selected using PSM. Patients in the surgery + lenvatinib + PD-1 group had significantly higher 3-year RFS rates (76.8%, 65.7%, and 53.5%) than patients in the surgery-alone group (60.6%, 45.5%, and 37.4%) (P = .012). The 2 groups showed no significant difference in recurrence types and OS. Surgery alone, MVI-M2, and alpha-fetoprotein of ≥200 ng/mL were independent risk factors for RFS (P < .05), and history of alcohol use disorder was an independent risk factor for OS (P = .022)., Conclusion: Postoperative lenvatinib + PD-1 blockade improved the RFS in patients with HCC with MVI and was particularly beneficial for specific individuals., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare no competing interests., (Copyright © 2024 The Authors. In this study, a previously undescribed cassane diterpenoid, named caesalpinin JF ( 1 ), along with two known cassane diterpenoids caesanine C ( 2 ) and tomocinol B ( 3 ), was isolated from 95% EtOH extract of the seeds of Caesalpinia sappan Linn. Additionally, three known compounds including pulcherrin R ( 4 ), syringaresinol-4'- O - β -D-glucopyranoside ( 5 ) and kaempferol ( 6 ) were also identified. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by comprehensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses. Additionally, electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculation was used to identify the absolute structure of compound 1 . Among the isolated compounds, compound 1 displayed a potent anti-neuroinflammation with an IC 50 value of 9.87 ± 1.71  μ M.

Background: Most patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) eventually develop drug resistance, leading to a poor prognosis. Dysregulated long gene non coding RNAs (lincRNAs) have been implicated in chemoresistance in AML. Unfortunately, the effects of lincRNAs which participate in regulating the Adriamycin (ADR) resistance in AML cells remain unclear. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine LINC00987 function in ADR-resistant AML., Methods: In this study, ADR-resistant cells were constructed. LINC00987, miRNAs, and HMGA2 mRNA expression were measured by qRT-PCR. P-GP, BCRP, and HMGA2 protein were measured by Western blot. The proliferation was analyzed by MTS and calculated IC50. Soft agar colony formation assay and TUNEL staining were used to analyze cell colony formation and apoptosis. Xenograft tumor experiment was used to analyze the xenograft tumor growth of ADR-resistant AML., Results: We found that higher expression of LINC00987 was observed in AML patients and associated with poor overall survival in AML patients. LINC00987 expression was increased in ADR-resistant AML cells, including ADR/MOLM13 and ADR/HL-60 cells. LINC00987 downregulation reduces ADR resistance in ADR/MOLM13 and ADR/HL-60 cells in vitro and in vivo, while LINC00987 overexpression enhanced ADR resistance in MOLM13 and HL-60 cells. Additionally, LINC00987 functions as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-4458 to affect ADR resistance in ADR/MOLM13 and ADR/HL-60 cells. HMGA2 is a target of miR-4458. LINC00987 knockdown and miR-4458 overexpression reduced HMGA2 expression. HMGA2 overexpression enhanced ADR resistance, which reversed the function of LINC00987 silencing in suppressing ADR resistance of ADR/MOLM13 and ADR/HL-60 cells., Conclusions: Downregulation of LINC00987 weakens ADR resistance by releasing miR-4458 to deplete HMGA2 in ADR/MOLM13 and ADR/HL-60. Background: Escalating cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) pose a major challenge to global TB control efforts, necessitating innovative diagnostics to empower decentralized detection of gene mutations associated with resistance to rifampicin (RIF) and isoniazid (INH) in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) in resource-constrained settings., Methods: Combining multiplex fluorescent PCR and Multiple Probes Melting Analysis, we identified mutations in the rpoB, katG, ahpC and inhA genes from sputum specimens. We first constructed a reference plasmid library comprising 40 prevalent mutations in the target genes' resistance determining regions and promoters, serving as positive controls. Our assay utilizes a four-tube asymmetric PCR method with specifically designed molecular beacon probes, enabling simultaneous detection of all 40 mutations. We evaluated the assay's effectiveness using DNA isolated from 50 clinically confirmed M. tuberculosis sputum specimens, comparing our results with those obtained from Sanger sequencing and retrospective validation involving bacteriological culture and phenotypic drug susceptibility testing (pDST). We also included the commercial Xpert MTB/RIF assay for accuracy comparison., Results: Our data demonstrated remarkable sensitivity in detecting resistance to RIF and INH, achieving values of 93.33% and 95.24%, respectively, with a specificity of 100%. The concordance between our assay and pDST was 98.00%. Furthermore, the accuracy of our assay was comparable to both Sanger sequencing and the Xpert assay. Importantly, our assay boasts a 4.2-h turnaround time and costs only $10 per test, making it an optimal choice for peripheral healthcare settings., Conclusion: These findings highlight our assay's potential as a promising tool for rapidly, accurately, and affordably detecting MDR-TB., (© 2024. Objective: Retropharyngeal lymphadenectomy is challenging. This study investigated a minimally invasive approach to salvage retropharyngeal lymphadenectomy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma., Methods: An anatomical study of four fresh cadaveric heads was conducted to demonstrate the relevant details of retropharyngeal lymphadenectomy using the endoscopic transoral medial pterygomandibular fold approach. Six patients with nasopharyngeal cancer with retropharyngeal lymph node recurrence, who underwent retropharyngeal lymphadenectomy with the endoscopic transoral medial pterygomandibular fold technique at the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University from July to December 2021, were included in this study., Results: The anatomical study demonstrated that the endoscopic transoral medial pterygomandibular fold approach offers a short path and minimally invasive approach to the retropharyngeal space. The surgical procedure was well tolerated by all patients, with no significant post-operative complications., Conclusion: The endoscopic transoral medial pterygomandibular fold approach is safe and efficient for retropharyngeal lymphadenectomy.

Organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) has shown substantial potential in the development of next-generation bioanalysis yet is limited by the either-or situation between the photoelectrode types and the channel types. Inspired by the dual-photoelectrode systems, we propose a new architecture of dual-engine OPECT for enhanced signal modulation and its biosensing application. Exemplified by incorporating the CdS/Bi 2 S 3 photoanode and Cu 2 O photocathode within the gate-source circuit of Ag/AgCl-gated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) channel, the device shows enhanced modulation capability and larger transconductance ( g m ) against the single-photoelectrode ones. Moreover, the light irritation upon the device effectively shifts the peak value of g m to zero gate voltage without degradation and generates larger current steps that are advantageous for the sensitive bioanalysis. Based on the as-developed dual-photoelectrode OPECT, target-mediated recycling and etching reactions are designed upon the CdS/Bi 2 S 3 , which could result in dual signal amplification and realize the sensitive microRNA-155 biodetection with a linear range from 1 fM to 100 pM and a lower detection limit of 0.12 fM.

We present the measurements of all-particle energy spectrum and mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays in the energy range of 0.3-30 PeV using data collected from LHAASO-KM2A between September 2021 and December 2022, which is based on a nearly composition-independent energy reconstruction method, achieving unprecedented accuracy. Our analysis reveals the position of the knee at 3.67±0.05±0.15  PeV. Below the knee, the spectral index is found to be -2.7413±0.0004±0.0050, while above the knee, it is -3.128±0.005±0.027, with the sharpness of the transition measured with a statistical error of 2%. The mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays is almost heavier than helium in the whole measured energy range. It decreases from 1.7 at 0.3 PeV to 1.3 at 3 PeV, representing a 24% decline following a power law with an index of -0.1200±0.0003±0.0341. This is equivalent to an increase in abundance of light components. Above the knee, the mean logarithmic mass exhibits a power law trend towards heavier components, which is reversal to the behavior observed in the all-particle energy spectrum. Additionally, the knee position and the change in power-law index are approximately the same. These findings suggest that the knee observed in the all-particle spectrum corresponds to the knee of the light component, rather than the medium-heavy components.

High level dissolved B, which poses risks to human health, has been widely observed in geothermal water. In the Guide Basin, NW China, a series of geothermal water samples along a fault show a wide range of B contents ranging from 3.14 to 8.33 mg/L, which are higher than the WHO Guideline value equaling 2.4 mg/L in drinking water. To identify the sources and fate of B, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of hydrochemistry and stable isotopes (D, 18 O and 11 B) of three thermal fields representing three stages of hydrogeochemical evolution (stages I, II and III). From stage I to III, there are trends of increasing mineral dissolution, which is supported by increasing mean reservoir temperature and concentrations of conservative elements (Cl, Na, K, Li and Si). Geothermal water in stage I with meteoric origin and the lowest reservoir temperature has the highest B/Na resulting from silicate dissolution and falls on the mixing line between granitoids and cold water on the plot of δ 11 B versus 1/B, showing the control of silicate dissolution. However, geothermal water in stage III has lower Ca, B Sr and B/Na than that in stage II. Because of the occurrence of other processes, geothermal water in stages II and III deviates from the LMWL. Compared with geothermal water in stage I, the increased Sr/Ca and decreased B/Ca show that B are removed by both coprecipitation and vapor separation. With the aid of B isotopes, we find vapor separation dominates in stage II, whereas carbonate precipitation dominates in stage III. Rehmannia glutinosa is widely recognized as a prominent medicinal herb employed by practitioners across various generations for the purpose of fortifying kidney yin. Within Rehmannia glutinosa , the compound known as catalpol (CAT) holds significant importance as a bioactive constituent. However, the protective effects of CAT on kidneys, including ameliorative effects on chronic kidney disease - most prominently renal anemia and renal fibrosis - have not been clearly defined. In this study, the kidney injury model of NRK-52E cells and C57BL/6N male mice was prepared by exposure to aristolochic acid I (AA-I), and it was discovered that CAT could ameliorate oxidative stress injury, inflammatory injury, apoptosis, renal anemia, renal fibrosis, and other renal injuries both in vivo and in vitro . Further treatment of NRK-52E cells with Nrf2 inhibitors (ML385) and activators (ML334), as well as NF-κB inhibitors (PDTC), validated CAT's ability to target Nrf2 activation. Furthermore, the expression of phosphorylated NF-κB p65, IL-6, and Cleaved-Caspase3 protein was inhibited. CAT also inhibited NF-κB, and then inhibited the expression of IL-6, p-STAS3, TGF-β1 protein. Therefore, CAT can regulate Nrf2/NF-κB signaling pathway, significantly correct renal anemia and renal fibrosis, and is conducive to the preservation of renal structure and function, thus achieving a protective effect on the kidneys.

Elevated glucocorticoid levels triggered by stress potentially contribute to sleep disturbances in stress-induced depression. However, sleep changes in response to elevated corticosterone (CORT), the major glucocorticoid in rodents, remain unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of acute or chronic CORT administration on sleep using electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) recordings in freely moving mice. Acute CORT exposure rapidly promoted wakefulness, marked by increased episodes and enhanced EEG delta power, while simultaneously suppressing rapid eye movement (REM) and non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, with the latter marked by decreased mean duration and reduced delta power. Prolonged 28-day CORT exposure led to excessive wakefulness and REM sleep, characterized by higher episodes, and decreased NREM sleep, characterized by higher episodes and reduced mean duration. EEG theta activity during REM sleep and delta activity during NREM sleep were attenuated following 28-day CORT exposure. These effects persisted, except for REM sleep amounts, even 7 days after the drug withdrawal. Elevated plasma CORT levels and depressive phenotypes were identified and correlated with observed sleep changes during and after administration. Fos expression significantly increased in the lateral habenula, lateral hypothalamus, and ventral tegmental area following acute or chronic CORT treatment. Our findings demonstrate that CORT exposure enhanced wakefulness, suppressed and fragmented NREM sleep, and altered EEG activity across all stages. This study illuminates sleep alterations during short or extended periods of heightened CORT levels in mice, providing a neural link connecting insomnia and depression.

The diffuse Galactic γ-ray emission, mainly produced via interactions between cosmic rays and the interstellar medium and/or radiation field, is a very important probe of the distribution, propagation, and interaction of cosmic rays in the Milky Way. In this Letter, we report the measurements of diffuse γ rays from the Galactic plane between 10 TeV and 1 PeV energies, with the square kilometer array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). Diffuse emissions from the inner (15°10  TeV). The energy spectrum in the inner Galaxy regions can be described by a power-law function with an index of -2.99±0.04, which is different from the curved spectrum as expected from hadronic interactions between locally measured cosmic rays and the line-of-sight integrated gas content. Furthermore, the measured flux is higher by a factor of ∼3 than the prediction. A similar spectrum with an index of -2.99±0.07 is found in the outer Galaxy region, and the absolute flux for 10≲E≲60  TeV is again higher than the prediction for hadronic cosmic ray interactions. The latitude distributions of the diffuse emission are consistent with the gas distribution, while the longitude distributions show clear deviation from the gas distribution. The LHAASO measurements imply that either additional emission sources exist or cosmic ray intensities have spatial variations.

DNA intercalation has increasingly been studied for various scenario implementations due to the diverse functions of DNA/intercalators. Nascent organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) biosensing taking place in organic electronics and photoelectrochemical bioanalysis represents a promising technological frontier in the arena. In this work, we first devise DNA intercalation-enabled OPECT for miRNA detection with a superior gain up to 17100. Intercalation of [Ru(bpy) 2 dppz] 2+ within the miRNA-initiated hybrid chain reaction (HCR)-derived duplex DNA is realized for producing anodic photocurrent upon light stimulation, causing the corresponding target-dependent alternation in gate voltage (V G ) and hence the modulated channel current (I DS ) of poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly (styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) under specific drain voltage (V DS ) for quantitative miRNA-21 analysis, which shows a wide linear relationship and a low detection limit of 5.5 × 10 -15  mol L -1 . Aims: The chemotherapy drugs for NSCLC often face the consequences of treatment failure due to acquired drug resistance. Tumor chemotherapy resistance is often accompanied by angiogenesis. Here, we aimed to investigate the effect and underlying mechanisms of ADAM-17 inhibitor ZLDI-8 we found before on angiogenesis and vasculogenic mimicry(VM) in drug-resistant NSCLC., Main Methods: The tube formation assay was used to evaluate angiogenesis and VM. Migration and invasion were assessed with transwell assays in the co-culture condition. To explore the underlying mechanisms of how ZLDI-8 inhibited tubes formation, ELISA assay and western blot assay were preformed. The effects of ZLDI-8 on angiogenesis in vivo were investigated in Matrigel plug, CAM and Rat aortic ring assays., Key Findings: In the present study, ZLDI-8 significantly inhibited the tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) in either normal medium or in tumor supernatants. Furthermore, ZLDI-8 also inhibited VM tubes formation of A549/Taxol cells. In the co-culture assay, the interaction between lung cancer cells and HUVECs promotes increased cell migration and invasion, while ZLDI-8 eliminates this promotion. Moreover, the VEGF secretion were decreased by ZLDI-8 and the expression of Notch1, Dll4, HIF1α and VEGF were inhibited by ZLDI-8. In addition, ZLDI-8 can inhibit blood vessel formation in the Matrigel plug, CAM and Rat aortic ring assays., Significance: ZLDI-8 inhibits angiogenesis and VM in drug-resistant NSCLC through suppressing Notch1-HIF1α-VEGF signaling pathway. The application of metagenomic second-generation sequencing (mNGS) is shifting from research to clinical laboratories due to rapid technological advances and significant cost reductions. Although many studies and case reports have confirmed that the success of mNGS in improving the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and tracking of infectious diseases, there are still some obstacles that must be overcome. The results of mNGS show all the possible pathogens in the sample, however, in the face of thousands of microbes that can infect humans, it remains challenging to accurately identify the key pathogens. So far, there is no unified interpretation standard for mNGS in clinical practice. This article reviews the interpretation of mNGS results for pathogen infection in different systems, the clinical interpretation and application regulations of mNGS results, and the challenges of mNGS interpretation in pathogen diagnosis.

Objectives: Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent herpes zoster (HZ) and related complications. This study aimed to investigate the preference of HZ vaccine among older people., Study Design: A discrete choice experiment was performed., Methods: In total, 178 adults aged ≥50 years were invited to choose between HZ vaccination scenarios using six vaccine attributes. Two equations were used to calculate participants' willingness to pay for the vaccine and their predicted choice probability., Results: The attributes that significantly influenced participants' vaccine choices were lower cost, higher effectiveness, reduced side-effects and vaccination of others in their surroundings., Conclusions: Improving medical insurance coverage or reducing the cost of the HZ vaccine will encourage more people to be vaccinated, resulting in reduced burden of disease among older people., (Copyright © 2023 The Royal Society for Public Health. Since Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex and multifactorial neuropathology, the discovery of multi-targeted inhibitors has gradually demonstrated greater therapeutic potential. Neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), the main neuropathologic hallmarks of AD, are mainly associated with hyperphosphorylation of the microtubule-associated protein Tau. The overexpression of GSK3β and DYRK1A has been recognized as an important contributor to hyperphosphorylation of Tau, leading to the strategy of using dual-targets inhibitors for the treatment of this disorder. ZDWX-12 and ZDWX-25, as harmine derivatives, were found good inhibition on dual targets in our previous study. Here, we firstly evaluated the inhibition effect of Tau hyperphosphorylation using two compounds by HEK293-Tau P301L cell-based model and okadaic acid (OKA)-induced mouse model. We found that ZDWX-25 was more effective than ZDWX-12. Then, based on comprehensively investigations on ZDWX-25 in vitro and in vivo, 1) the capability of ZDWX-25 to show a reduction in phosphorylation of multiple Tau epitopes in OKA-induced neurodegeneration cell models, and 2) the effect of reduction on NFTs by 3xTg-AD mouse model under administration of ZDWX-25, an orally bioavailable, brain-penetrant dual-targets inhibitor with low toxicity. Some gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have a tera-electron volt (TeV) afterglow, but the early onset of this has not been observed. We report observations with the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) of the bright GRB 221009A, which serendipitously occurred within the instrument's field of view. More than 64,000 photons >0.2 TeV were detected within the first 3000 seconds. The TeV flux began several minutes after the GRB trigger and then rose to a peak ~10 seconds later. This was followed by a decay phase, which became more rapid ~650 seconds after the peak. We interpret the emission using a model of a relativistic jet with half-opening angle of ~0.8°. This is consistent with the core of a structured jet and could explain the high isotropic energy of this GRB.

Objective: To investigate the characteristics of salivary microbiota in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). Methods: A case-control study was applied to enroll 60 patients and healthy subjects who were outpatients of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the Eighth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital from December 2020 to March 2021, including 35 males and 25 females, aged from 21 to 80 (33.75±11.10) years. Thirty patients with suspected laryngopharyngeal reflux were selected as study group and thirty healthy volunteers without pharyngeal symptoms were selected as control group. Their salivary samples were collected, and the salivary microbiota was detected and analyzed by 16S rDNA sequencing. SPSS 18.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results: There was no significant difference in the diversity of salivary microbiota between the two groups. At the phylum classification level, the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes in the study group was higher than that in the control group[37.86(31.15, 41.54)% vs 30.24(25.51, 34.18)%, Z =-3.46, P< 0.01]. And the relative abundance of Proteobacteria in the study group was lower than that in the control group [15.76(11.81, 20.17)% vs 20.63(13.98, 28.82)%, Z =-1.98, P< 0.05]. At the genus level, the relative abundance of Prevotella , Lactobacillus , Parascardovia and Sphingobium in the study group was higher than that in the control group( Z values were-2.92, -2.69, -2.05, -2.31, respectively, P <0.05).And the relative abundance of Streptococcus , Cardiobacterium , Klebsiella and Uruburuella of study group was lower than that of control group( Z values were -2.43, -2.32, -2.17, -2.32, respectively, P <0.05). LEfSe difference analysis showed that there were 39 bacteria with significant differences between the two groups, including Bacteroidetes, Prevotellaceae and Prevotella , which were enriched in the study group, and Streptococcaceae, Streptococcus and other taxa, which were enriched in the control group( P <0.05). Conclusion: The changes of the microflora in the saliva between LPR patients and healthy people suggest that the dysbacteriosis might exist in LPR patients, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of LPR.

Organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) biosensing represents a new platform interfacing optoelectronics and biological systems with essential amplification, which, nevertheless, are concentrated on depletion-type operation to date. Here, a polymer dot (Pdot)-gated accumulation-type OPECT biosensor is devised and applied for sensitive urea detection. In such a device, the as-designed Pdot/poly[bis(4-phenyl)(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)amine] (PTAA) is validated as a superior gating module against the diethylenetriamine (DETA) de-doped poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) channel, and the urea-dependent status of Pdots has been shown to be sensitively correlated with the device's response. High-performance urea detection is thus realized with a wide linear range of 1 μM-50 mM and a low detection limit of 195 nM. Given the diversity of the Pdot family and its immense interactions with other species, this work represents a generic platform for developing advanced accumulation-type OPECT and beyond.

Accurate meteorological fields and applicable air quality models are important ways to optimize air pollution simulations. To improve the accuracy of winter air pollution models in the Sichuan basin, we conducted a meteorological field simulation using 25 sets of parameterized scheme combinations in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model. Based on the optimal parameters, the air pollution levels were simulated using AERMOD and CALPUFF models in a local large steel plant, and the data were verified by comparing the data from four National Ambient Air Monitoring Stations (NAAMS). The results indicated that the WRF model parameters had substantial effects on the simulation of the ground wind field, high-altitude wind field, and ground humidity field. In contrast, the parameters had no significant effect on the simulation of the ground temperature field, high-altitude temperature field, and high-altitude humidity field. The combination of the SLAB land surface process scheme and Dudhia shortwave radiation scheme with four boundary layer schemes, namely YSU, ACM2, BouLac, and MRF, could well-simulate the trends of winter surface wind, temperature, and humidity fields in Sichuan basin. The simulation results were analyzed by combining the statistical parameters of high-altitude wind, temperature, and humidity. The group 1 parameter scheme was applicable to simulate the meteorological field of Dazhou. Group 13 and Group 17 parameters were applicable to simulate the meteorological fields in Chengdu during the day and night, respectively. The correlation between CALPUFF simulation and monitoring value was better than that for AERMOD. CALPUFF was more accurate than AERMOD when referring to the monitoring data from NAAMS No.3. In addition, the simulation quality of CALPUFF was slightly better than that of AERMOD with reference to data from NAAMS No.2. Using air pollutant monitoring data from NAAMS as a reference, the simulated results of CALPUFF on NO x and PM 10 were improved compared to AERMOD at all four stations. Data from the Q-Q diagram indicated that the simulated results of CALPUFF on SO 2 , NO x , and PM 10 were closer to the monitored values compared to those of AERMOD.

Objective: To describe a technique of endoscopic transoral approach nasopharyngectomy for petroclival and jugular foramen nasopharyngeal carcinoma, based on anatomic studies and surgeries. Methods: Three dry human skulls and five fresh human cadaver heads were used for anatomic study of a endoscopic transoral approach to expose petroclival and jugular foramen. The anatomical landmarks and the extent of exposure were recorded. Six clinical cases who were treated in Eye & ENT Hospital, Fudan University from June 2020 to April 2022 were used to illustrate the technique and feasibility of this approach and to assess its indications and advantages, including 3 males and 3 females, aged 42 to 69 years old. Descriptive analysis was used in this research. Results: On the basis of the preservation of the internal pterygoid muscle and the external pterygoid muscle, this approach could fully expose the parapharyngeal, petrosal and paraclival segment internal carotid arteries, and safely deal with the lesions of jugular foramen and petroclival region. The 6 patients in our study tolerated the procedure well. Postoperative enhanced MRI showed complete resection of the tumor and no postoperative masticatory dysfunction. Conclusion: Endoscopic transoral approach is a safe, minimally invasive and effective surgical treatment for petroclival and jugular foramen recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
