This paper presents a cloud-resolving simulation of the autumn Super Typhoon Mangkhut (2018) in 10.5 days in the South China Sea using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model Version 4.1 (WRFV4.1). The sensitivity of tropical cyclone (TC) track and intensity to the planetary boundary layer (PBL) and cloud microphysics (MP) scheme was evaluated. A combination of Quasi-normal Scale Elimination (QNSE) PBL scheme and WRF Single Moment 7‑class (WSM7) MP scheme (QNSE-WSM7) had the best performances. QNSE-WSM7 could reasonably reproduce precipitation amounts, temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of rainfall.Cloud water increased as the TC developed and peaked at the weakening stage. Graupel and hail increased as the TC strengthened and reduced as the TC weakened. Cloud water, rain water, and cloud ice were the least in the development stage. Snow, graupel, and hail bottomed during the weakening stage. Cloud water, rain water, and cloud ice increased as the TC intensified to the mature stage. Cloud ice, graupel, and hail reduced from the mature stage to the weakening stage. The peaks of the hydrometeors corresponded well with the peaks of the vertical velocity. Liquid particles with peaks at the lower troposphere in the cloud wall were closer to the TC center. Conversely, ice particles with peaks at the higher troposphere in the cloud wall were found farther away from the TC center.The dominant cloud microphysical conversion processes were the instantaneous melting of snow, hail, and graupel. The top three latent heat release processes were the condensation of water vapor to form cloud water, condensation of water vapor to form rain, and accretion of rain by cloud ice. The top three latent heat absorption processes were the evaporation of cloud water to form water vapor, accretion of cloud ice by rain, and evaporation of rain to form water vapor. The melting of snow, hail, and graupel was the dominant contributor to the formation of raindrops.

In this study, Cu–9Ni–6Sn-xCr alloys (x = 0, 0.3, 0.6, or 1.0) were designed and prepared. The influence of Cr content on the microstructure, the precipitation behavior, and the mechanical properties of the alloys was systematically investigated. The results show that the Cu–9Ni–6Sn-0.6Cr alloy exhibits outstanding mechanical properties and higher level electrical conductivity after aging at 400 °C for 8 h: The peak-aged hardness reaches 323.6 ± 8.4 HV, with a tensile strength of 876.4 MPa and an electrical conductivity of 12.59 ± 0.33% IACS. These excellent comprehensive properties of Cu–9Ni–6Sn-0.6Cr alloy are attribute to the refinement effect and the precipitation of DO22 phase within the Cu matrix grains. Further analysis reveals that the addition of an appropriate amount of Cr refines the microstructure of the alloy and promotes the precipitation of the DO22 phase. At the same time, Cr also suppresses the precipitation of the DO3 phase at grain boundaries, achieving an excellent combination of plasticity, electrical conductivity, and strength. This work suggests that the potential application prospects of Cr in the multi-component design of Cu–Ni–Sn alloy, and the addition of 0.6 wt% Cr can achieve good strengthening effects and provide outstanding comprehensive performance for Cu–Ni–Sn alloys.

Deformation twins (DTs) and stacking faults (SFs) are rarely found in Cu-20Ni-20Mn alloy, which limits further strengthening of alloy. Here, we report ultra-strong Cu-20Ni-20Mn alloy prepared by introducing a high density of coherent nanoprecipitates. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of alloy can be largely enhanced to 1624.7 ± 14.7 MPa, while maintaining an acceptable elongation of 7.3 ± 0.5%. We find that the coherent nanoprecipitates contribute to an ultra-high true stress up to about 1740 MPa, which facilitate the formation of DTs. The strength and ductility improvement stems from the synergistic effect of dislocations, nanoprecipitates and DTs.

Neuroanatomical tract tracers are important for studying axoplasmic transport and the complex interconnections of the nervous system. Though traditional fluorescent tracers are widely used, they have several prominent drawbacks when imaging, including low resolutions and low tissue penetrations and inability to be supervised dynamically within a long peripheral nerve during the long term. Here, we explored the potential of ICG as a neural tracer for axoplasmic transport and for the first time demonstrated that ICG could be used to detect transport function within peripheral nerve by near-infrared region II (NIR-II) imaging. On basis of this finding, a novel bi-directional neural tracer biotinylated dextran amine-indocyanine green (BDA-ICG) was prepared and characterized with better long-term stability and higher nerve-to-background ratio than ICG in vivo, and successfully imaged the injured peripheral nerve from the healthy one within 24 h. Our results show that BDA-ICG are promising neural tracers and clinically available dyes with NIR-II emission tail characteristics as ICG.

African swine fever (ASF) is an acute, hemorrhagic, and severe infectious disease caused by the ASF virus (ASFV). ASFV has evolved multiple strategies to escape host antiviral immune responses. Here, we reported that ASFV pB318L, a trans-geranylgeranyl-diphosphate synthase, reduced the expression of type I interferon (IFN-I) and IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs). Mechanically, pB318L not only interacted with STING to reduce the translocation of STING from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus but also interacted with IFN receptors to reduce the interaction of IFNAR1/TYK2 and IFNAR2/JAK1. Of note, ASFV with interruption of B318L gene (ASFV-intB318L) infected PAMs produces more IFN-I and ISGs than that in PAMs infected with its parental ASFV HLJ/18 at the late stage of infection. Consistently, the pathogenicity of ASFV-intB318L is attenuated in piglets compared with its parental virus. Taken together, our data reveal that B318L gene may partially affect ASFV pathogenicity by reducing the production of IFN-I and ISGs. This study provides a clue to design antiviral agents or live attenuated vaccines to prevent and control ASF.

Abstract Nd-Fe-B-based permanent magnets are widely used for energy conversion applications. However, their usage at elevated temperatures is difficult due to the relatively low coercivity (H c) with respect to the anisotropy field (H A) of the Nd2Fe14B compound, which is typically 0.2H A. In this work, we found that the coercivity of an (Nd0.8Dy0.2)-Fe-B sintered magnet could reach 0.4H A, which was twice as high as the H c/H A of its Dy-free counterpart. Detailed microstructural characterizations, density functional theory and micromagnetic simulations showed that the large value of coercivity, H c = 0.4H A, originated not only from the enhanced H A of the main phase (intrinsic factor) but also from the reduced magnetization of the thin intergranular phase (extrinsic factor). The latter was attributed to the dissolution of 4 at.% Dy in the intergranular phase that anti-ferromagnetically coupled with Fe. The reduction in the magnetization of the intergranular phase resulted in a change in the angular dependence of coercivity from the Kondorsky type for the Dy-free magnet to the Stoner–Wohlfarth-like shape for the Dy-containing magnet, indicating that the typical pinning-controlled coercivity mechanism began to show nucleation features as the magnetization of the intergranular phase was reduced by Dy substitution.

Abstract MFM‐520(Zn) confines dimers of NO2 with a high adsorption of 4.52 mmol g−1 at 1 bar at 298 K. The synthesis and the incommensurate structure of Cu‐doped MFM‐520(Zn) are reported. The introduction of paramagnetic Cu2+ sites allows investigation of the electronic and geometric structure of metal site by in situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy upon adsorption of NO2. By combining continuous wave and electron‐nuclear double resonance spectroscopy, an unusual reverse Berry distorted coordination geometry of the Cu2+ centers is observed. Interestingly, Cu‐doped MFM‐520(Zn0.95Cu0.05) shows enhanced adsorption of NO2 of 5.02 mmol g−1 at 1 bar at 298 K. Whereas MFM‐520(Zn) confines adsorbed NO2 as N2O4, the presence of monomeric NO2 at low temperature suggests that doping with Cu2+ centers into the framework plays an important role in tuning the dimerization of NO2 molecules in the pore via the formation of specific host‐guest interactions.

The universality of load subjects in distribution network brings challenges to the reliability of distribution network planning results. In this paper, a two-stage dynamic robust distribution network planning method considering correlation is proposed. The method evaluates the correlation between random variables using the Spearman rank correlation coefficient, and converts the correlated random variables into mutually independent random variables by Cholesky decomposition and independent transformation; expresses the source-load uncertainty by a bounded interval without distribution, and describes the active distribution network planning as a dynamic zero-sum game problem by combining with the two-phase dynamic robust planning; use the Benders decomposition approach to tackle the issue; mathematical simulation is used to confirm the accuracy and efficacy of the method. The results show that the dynamic robustness planning method of active distribution network taking into account the correlation can accurately simulate the operation of active distribution network with uncertain boundaries, which enhances the reliability and economy of the active distribution network planning results.

African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and acute hemorrhagic viral disease with high morbidity and mortality in domestic pigs and wild boars. The disease has become a global threat to the pig production industry and has caused enormous economic losses in many countries in recent years. However, the molecular mechanism underlying ASF virus (ASFV) entry of the host cells is not fully understood, which restricts the development of vaccines and antiviral-drugs of ASFV. In this study, we found that the host protein CD1d acts as a host factor, which mediates ASFV entry into the host cells. As the main capsid protein on the surface of ASFV virions, p72 can mediate viral entry. Using IP-MS assay, CD1d was identified as a binding partner of p72 on surface of ASFV virions. Knockdown of CD1d expression and blocking the cells with anti-pCD1d antibody, or incubating ASFV virions with soluble CD1d protein could significantly inhibit ASFV infection. CD1d is located on the membrane surface of primary porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs) and mediates the virus entry via binding to p72. CD1d knockout or CD1d knockdown assay showed that CD1d could facilitate ASFV virions internalization via clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME). Furthermore, CD1d interacts with EPS15 to mediate ASFV entry via clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Overall, our findings revealed that CD1d is a novel host-entry factor involved in ASFV internalization via the EPS15-clathrin endocytosis axis and a potential target for antiviral intervention.

Citrus is the largest fruit in the world, and a large number of citrus processing by-products are produced every year. These by-products are rich in limonoids, which have many physiological functions such as anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory and anti-virus, and have been used in food, medicine and agriculture. It is of great theoretical and practical value to develop efficient extraction, separation and purification technology of limonoids, and to develop rapid analysis and detection methods of limonoids. In this article, the structural characteristics and content of limonoids in citrus are introduced, and the extraction, separation, purification and detection techniques of limonoids are emphatically summarized. It is found that emerging technologies such as ultrasonic-assisted and supercritical fluid extraction has better extraction efficiency, and the combination of macroporous resin adsorption, high-speed countercurrent chromatography and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography has better separation effect. In terms of detection technology, liquid chromatography is the most widely used analytical method for limonoids in citrus, which can accurately detect the types and contents of limonoids in citrus. However, efficient, green and rapid pretreatment technology and convenient and high-throughput detection technology need to be developed. This paper would provide a reference for the in-depth research and comprehensive development and utilization of limonoids in citrus, and provide a basis for promoting the utilization of citrus by-product resources.

Soil microorganisms are vital components of the karst terrestrial ecosystem. However, their responses to the vegetation succession on karst mountain peaks remain unclear as to whether soil microbial diversity and community compositions change with vegetation succession. We investigated the diversity and community compositions of soil bacteria and fungi and associated environmental factors along a vegetation succession from moss crusts (MC) to moss crusts with sparse grasses (MCG) to sparse grasses (G) on karst mountain peaks. The results indicated that soil organic carbon and total nitrogen generally increased, and soil pH changed in the range of 8.19–8.44 and slightly declined with vegetation succession. Overall, there was an increase in microbial biomass along the vegetation succession, with the dominant phyla of bacteria, including Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Choroflexi, Gemmatiomnadates, Bacteroidetes, and Planctomycetes, and the dominated phyla of fungi, including Basidiomycota and Ascomycota. Notably, both the bacterial and fungal community compositions were different among the three successional stages. Spearman’s correction analysis showed that soil organic carbon and total nitrogen had stronger and more significant influences on the soil microbial community compositions compared to soil water content, pH, and C:N ratio. Overall, our results provide evidence for the changes and influencing factors of the microbial community with the succession vegetation on karst mountain peaks.

Porous sorbents capable of high ammonia (NH3) uptake capacities are of great interest for ammonia storage for industry, as well as for the environmental remediation of this toxic and corrosive gas. Here, NH3 adsorption is investigated in four robust aluminium-based metal–organic frameworks, and in situ neutron powder diffraction, synchrotron IR micro-spectroscopy and 27Al solid-state NMR studies show that the pore geometries, framework rigidity, and nature of the host–guest binding sites together dictate the high NH3 capture and storage capacity.

Given the recent escalation of the energy and environmental crises, it is crucial to consider the evolution of various energy systems from a macro perspective in order to increase the overall efficiency of energy use and improve the environment. In order to tackle this issue, a wide-area integrated energy system planning method that takes into account consumers' comprehensive energy consumption behavior (CECB) and policy recommendations is provided in this study. First of all, according to the analysis of users’ CECB, the decision-making model of regional users' energy supply transformation is established. A game model is constructed to explore cooperative planning of an integrated electricity-natural gas energy system based on the profit models of various market participants. The government is considered as the main body of planning and decision-making, and the evaluation model of government’s pollution emissions from both supply and demand sides is established. A two-level dynamic game planning model for the wide-area IES is then created as a result of the examination of the game mechanism between users, the government, the integrated energy system (IES), and other market players. Finally, the model is solved using an iterative search approach. Results from simulations are used to validate the suggested method’s accuracy and efficacy.

Abstract Background Schwann cells (SCs) respond to nerve injury by transforming into the repair-related cell phenotype, which can provide the essential signals and spatial cues to promote axonal regeneration and induce target reinnervation. Endothelial cells (ECs) contribute to intraneural angiogenesis contributing to creating a permissive microenvironment. The coordination between ECs and SCs within injury sites is crucial in the regeneration process, however, it still unclear. As the intercellular vital information mediators in the nervous system, exosomes have been proposed to take a significant role in regulating regeneration. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to determine the facilitative effect of ECs-derived exosomes on SCs and to seek the underlying mechanism. Results In the present study, we collected exosomes from media of ECs. We demonstrated that exosomes derived from ECs possessed the favorable neuronal affinity both in vitro and in vivo. Further research indicated that EC-exosomes (EC-EXO) could boost and maintain repair-related phenotypes of SCs, thereby enhancing axonal regeneration, myelination of regenerated axons and neurologically functional recovery of the injured nerve. MiRNA sequencing in EXO-treated SCs and control SCs indicated that EC-EXO significantly up-regulated expression of miR199-5p. Furthermore, this study demonstrated that EC-EXO drove the conversion of SC phenotypes in a PI3K/AKT/PTEN-dependent manner. Conclusion In conclusion, our research indicates that the internalization of EC-EXO in SCs can promote nerve regeneration by boosting and maintaining the repair-related phenotypes of SCs. And the mechanism may be relevant to the up-regulated expression of miR199-5p and activation of PI3K/AKT/PTEN signaling pathway. Graphical Abstract

The Weather Research and Forecasting model was adopted to perform simulations of Typhoon (TC) Rammasun (2014). Two local (QNSE and MYJ) and two nonlocal (GFS and ACM2) closure planetary boundary layer (PBL) schemes were selected to perform four groups of simulation tests. (1) PBL schemes have a minor influence on the TC track but exert a major influence on both the intensity and structure of the TC. TC track, intensity, and structure simulated by the local PBL schemes are close to observations, whereas TC intensities simulated by the nonlocal PBL schemes are slightly lower than the actual observed value. The local QNSE scheme generates the best simulation results. (2) TC intensity is closely related to variations in the TC structure. Of these schemes, the TC simulated by the local QNSE scheme has the largest intensity, the smallest eye zone, a complete eyewall, the strongest convection, the largest reflectivity, and the strongest tangential wind. (3) Differences in TC intensities are found under the joint action of thermal and dynamic factors. Regarding the local closure PBL schemes, the simulated values of the surface enthalpy flux, water vapor flux, and momentum flux are slightly higher, and the TC can be stronger accompanied by a higher PBL, stronger entrainment at the top of the PBL, and more intense vertical mixing. In addition, more intense vertical mixing can introduce surface energy into the upper air, resulting in the development of deep convection in stronger TC, an intensified warm core structure, and a higher warm center.

Using an aerosol–climate coupled model, this paper has investigated the changes in distributions of anthropogenic and natural particles due to 4 × CO2-induced global warming, under the low emission scenario of Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5 (RCP4.5). Special attention is paid to the seasonal variations of aerosol size modes. With rising CO2 levels, surface warming, and changes in atmospheric circulations and hydrologic cycles are found during both summer (JJA) and winter (DJF). For anthropogenic particles, changes in fine anthropogenic particulate matter (PM2.5, particles with diameters smaller than 2.5 μm) decrease over high-latitude regions and increase over the tropics in both DJF and JJA. Global mean column concentrations of PM2.5 decrease by approximately 0.19 mg m−2, and concentrations of coarse anthropogenic particles (CPM, particles with diameters larger than 2.5 μm) increase by 0.005 mg m−2 in JJA. Changes in anthropogenic particles in DJF are similar to those in JJA, but the magnitudes of maximum regional changes are much smaller than those in JJA. The coarse anthropogenic particles (CPM, particles with diameters larger than 2.5 μm) increase over northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula during JJA, whereas changes in anthropogenic CPM during DJF are minimal. During both JJA and DJF, changes in anthropogenic CPM are about two orders of magnitude smaller than those of anthropogenic PM2.5. Enhanced wet deposition by large-scale precipitation under rising CO2-induced surface warming is the critical factor affecting changes in anthropogenic particles. For natural particles, the distribution of change in the natural PM2.5 burden is similar to that of natural CPM, but much larger than natural CPM during each season. Both natural PM2.5 and CPM burdens increase over northern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula during JJA, but decrease over most of the continental regions during DJF. Changes in surface wind speed, divergence/convergence of surface wind, and precipitation are primary reasons for the variation of natural particles.

When planning the distribution network, the income of each market entity is calculated by a fixed price. How to take the price of power into account while developing the planning strategy for each organization in the actual power market is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed imminently. To address this problem, considering the continuous change in the market price due to the change in the supply–demand relationship in the actual power market, this article proposes a distribution network planning method which considers the distribution system operator (DSO) and multi-agent game. First, the planning decision model of distribution network companies and power users with different interest subjects is constructed with grid planning and DG operation as decision variables. Second, DSO is introduced to the game framework. Based on the distribution locational marginal pricing (DLMP), a price accounting model is being developed. Then, the transfer relationships and game behavior among the distribution company, power users, and DSO are analyzed. Finally, an iterative search algorithm is used to solve a multi-agent game planning model of a distribution network that takes into account price signals in the power market. Examples based on IEEE 33-bus systems validate the suggested method’s validity and efficacy.

Excess nitrate (NO3−) of water is a worldwide environmental problem. Therefore, identifying the sources and analyzing respective contribution rates are of great importance for improving water quality. The current study was carried out to identify the potential sources of NO3− pollution in Cao-E River basin, in Eastern China. Surface water samples were collected during the dry season and wet season. Multiple hydrochemical indices, dual NO3− isotopes (δ15N–NO3− and δ18O–NO3−) and a Bayesian model (stable isotope analysis in R, MixSIAR) were applied to identify NO3− sources and estimate the proportional contributions of multiple NO3− sources. During the sampling period, nitrification was a dominant nitrogen transformation process in the study area. The results of the NO3− isotopes suggested that manure and sewage (M&S), soil nitrogen (SN) and nitrogen fertilizer (NF) were the major contributors to NO3−. Moreover, the results obtained from the MixSIAR model showed that the proportional contributions of atmospheric deposition (AD), NF, M&S and SN to NO3− were 2.82, 15.45, 44.25, 37.47% and 3.14, 23.39, 31.78, 41.69% in the dry and wet season, respectively. This study provided evidence to further understand the sources, transport, and transformation of N in Cao-E River basin, which deepens the understanding of the management of N contaminant.

Abstract Radiative transfer models are widely applied in climate models to simulate vertical temperature perturbations caused by external radiative forcings. A large part of radiative transfer models is the infrared gaseous spectral transmittance scheme, which quantifies the longwave atmospheric absorption. A rapid infrared gaseous spectral transmittance scheme, called the Optimized alternate Mapping Correlated K‐Distribution model (OMCKD), is introduced in this paper. To improve the accuracy of our scheme without increasing pseudo‐monochromatic calculations, we introduce the optimal iteration method to automatically tune the equivalent absorption coefficients in the cumulative probability subspace. In addition, a new expression weighted by black‐body radiation is introduced to calculate the equivalent absorption coefficient. The OMCKD simulates heating rate and radiation flux with errors of less than 0.12 K d−1 and 0.35 W m−2, respectively, below stratopause for standard atmospheric profiles. The OMCKD is also evaluated and compared with the rapid radiative transfer model for general circulation models (RRTMG) in realistic atmospheric profiles. We found that OMCKD can accurately produce heating rates and generally captures radiative forcings associated with large perturbations to the concentrations of main greenhouse gases. Furthermore, the number of pseudo‐monochromatic calculations in OMCKD is 11.4% less than that in RRTMG, which indicates less computational cost.

Implicit authentication (IA) transparently authenticates users by utilizing their behavioral data sampled from various sensors. Identifying the illegitimate user through constantly analyzing current users’ behavior, IA adds another layer of protection to the smart device. Due to the diversity of human behavior, existing research tends to utilize multiple features to identify users, which is less efficient. Irrelevant features may increase the system delay and reduce the authentication accuracy. However, dynamically choosing the best suitable features for each user (personal features) requires a massive calculation, making it infeasible in the real environment. In this paper, we propose EchoIA to find personal features with a small amount of calculation by leveraging user feedback derived from the correct rate of inputted passwords. By analyzing the feedback, EchoIA can deduce the true identities of current users and achieve a human-centered implicit authentication. In the authentication phase, our approach maintains transparency, which is the major advantage of IA. In the past two years, we conducted a comprehensive experiment to evaluate EchoIA. We compared it with four state-of-the-art IA schemes in the aspect of authentication accuracy and efficiency. The experiment results show that EchoIA has better authentication accuracy (93%) and less energy consumption (23-h battery lifetimes) than other IA schemes.

Physically, the coercivity of permanent magnets should scale with the anisotropy field of ferromagnetic compounds, HA; however, the typical coercivity values of commercial polycrystalline sintered magnets are only ~0.2 HA, which is known as Brown’s paradox. Recent advances in multi-scale microstructure characterizations using focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB/SEM), aberration corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (Cs-corrected STEM), and atom probe tomography (APT) revealed detailed microstructural features of commercial and experimental Nd-Fe-B magnets. These investigations suggest the magnetism of a thin layer formed along grain boundaries (intergranular phase) is a critical factor that influences the coercivity of polycrystalline magnets. To determine the magnetism of the thin intergranular phase, soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism and electron holography play critical roles. Large-scale micromagnetic simulations using the models that are close to real microstructure incorporating the recent microstructure characterization results gave insights on how the coercivity and its thermal stability is influenced by the microstructures. Based on these new findings, coercivity of Nd-Fe-B magnets is being improved to its limit. This review replies to the most frequently asked questions about the coercivity of Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets based on our recent studies.

Abstract Understanding genetic variation and structure, adaptive genetic variation, and its relationship with environmental factors is of great significance to understand how plants adapt to climate change and design effective conservation and management strategies. The objective of this study was to (I) investigate the genetic diversity and structure by AFLP markers in 36 populations of R. aureum from northeast China, (Ⅱ) reveal the relative contribution of geographical and environmental impacts on the distribution and genetic differentiation of R. aureum, (Ⅲ) identify outlier loci under selection and evaluate the association between outlier loci and environmental factors, and (Ⅳ) exactly calculate the development trend of population of R. aureum, as it is confronted with severe climate change and to provide information for designing effective conservation and management strategies. We found high genetic variation (I = 0.584) and differentiation among populations (ΦST = 0.703) and moderate levels of genetic diversity within populations of R. aureum. A significant relationship between genetic distance and environmental distance was identified, which suggested that the differentiation of different populations was caused by environmental factors. Using BayeScan and Dfdist, 42 outlier loci are identified and most of the outlier loci are associated with climate or relief factors, suggesting that these loci are linked to genes that are involved in the adaptability of R. aureum to the environment. Species distribution models (SDMs) showed that climate warming will cause a significant reduction in suitable areas for R. aureum, especially under the RCP 85 scenario. Our results help to understand the potential response of R. aureum to climatic changes and provide new perspectives for R. aureum resource management and conservation strategies.

Microglia are the resident macrophages in the brain, which play a critical role in post-stroke neuroinflammation. Accordingly, targeting neuroinflammation could be a promising strategy to improve ischemic stroke outcomes. Ethyl ferulate (EF) has been confirmed to possess anti-inflammatory properties in several disease models, including acute lung injury, retinal damage and diabetes-associated renal injury. However, the effects of EF on microglial activation and the resolution of post-stroke neuroinflammation remains unknown. Here, we found that EF suppressed pro-inflammatory response triggered by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation in primary microglia and BV2 cell lines, as well as post-stroke neuroinflammation in an in vivo transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) stroke model in C57BL/6 mice, consequently ameliorating ischemic brain injury. Furthermore, EF could directly bind and inhibit the activity of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) to reduce pro-inflammatory response. Taken together, our study identified a MAO-B inhibitor, Ethyl ferulate, as an active compound with promising potentials for suppressing post-stroke neuroinflammation.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is the etiological agent of African swine fever (ASF), and it is an enveloped, icosahedral, double-stranded DNA virus with a genome length ranging from 170 to 193 kb. The ASFV genome contains at least five multigene families (MGFs): MGF100, MGF110, MGF300, MGF360, and MGF505 at the right and left terminal variable regions. The members of the same MGF family are most similar and have conserved sequence motifs, whereas the genetic diversity of different MGF families varies widely. MGF genes play a crucial role in determining ASFV host range, virulence and reducing early cell death post-infection. pMGF505-7R is a multifunctional protein. Recent research advances of pMGF505-7R provide a few new clues to understand the functions of pMGF505-7R either in antagonizing the induction of type I IFN production and IFN downstream signaling or in suppressing inflammatory responses by inhibition of NF-κB signaling and NLRP3 inflammasome, which may be related to ASFV infection-induced pathogenesis.

Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide is a highly attractive strategy for the production of organic products of economic value. Here, the authors report the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to formic acid over a copper-based metal–organic framework decorated electrode at low over-potential.

A simulation study of precipitation processes in summer over the Pearl River Delta region was conducted using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model coupled to with Chemistry, WRF-Chem. We investigated the influence of air pollution and aerosols on the summertime heavy precipitation over the subtropical regions. The study showed the following results. (1) The control test can simulate the largescale meteorological conditions and the mesoscale weather processes well. The chemistry module (CHEM) had only a small influence on the simulation of the macroscale environmental field. Simulations of mesoscale weather processes could be improved by including atmospheric chemistry modules and anthropogenic aerosols. (2) Even though air pollution and aerosols can reduce solar shortwave radiation received by the ground, they increase downward longwave radiation from the atmosphere. Heating atmosphere by aerosols may increase stability and suppress convection. However, aerosols suppress the conversion of cloud water into rainwater and cloud ice, restricting heavy precipitation by reducing the collision–coalescence process during strong precipitation. Aerosols extend the lifetime of clouds and increase cloud cover, contributing to maintaining the precipitation. (3) Indirect and direct aerosol effects have significantly different functions in precipitation. The direct effect primarily has a positive function on the formation of rainwater, while the indirect effect suppresses increases in the precipitation intensity and contributes to maintaining the precipitation. But the notable invigoration effect was not found.

The autocorrelation function (ACF) and its relationship to fluctuation analysis (FA) are discussed, based on the reanalysis monthly mean geopotential height at 500 hPa from ECMWF (ERA-20C). ACF provides a measure of the influence of correlation at different time points. The principal pattern ACF shows relatively large positive correlations between every consecutive years in the central Asian continent and the North African continent. However, the confidence intervals of the ACF distributions are generally too wide, and so of low confidence level. It is found that the scaling rule of the ACF breaks down typically, while the distributions of the critical exponent of FA always show patterns. It is also found that the larger values of critical exponent appear in the tropical region, which reflects a larger climate persistence. The critical exponent becomes smaller in the jet stream regions, indicating less year to year reappearance. The characteristic time accounts for the weighted summation of all possible ACFs, which represents a memory length of a certain climate events. In the boreal winter, some robust patterns can be identified by the corresponding distribution of the characteristic time, which provides a unified way of describing the persistence of climate. An approximate relation between the critical exponent of FA and the characteristic time has been found, and such relation is verified by the distributions of these two physical variables.

Incorporating mesopores and active sites into metal-organic framework materials has proven advantageous for their catalytic application, but remains challenging to achieve. Here the authors obtain mesoporous, defect-rich metal-organic frameworks through templated electrosynthesis using ionic liquids as both electrolyte and template.

Glymphatic dysfunction has been linked to cognitive decline in several neurodegenerative diseases. In cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD), the mechanism of white matter hyperintensities (WMH)-related cognitive impairment (CI) is still under investigation. The diffusion tensor image (DTI) analysis along the perivascular space (ALPS) method has been considered to be a reliable parameter to evaluate glymphatic function. Therefore, we applied the ALPS-index to determine the influence of glymphatic function on CI in CSVD. In total, 137 CSVD patients (normal cognitive group, mild CI group, and dementia group) and 52 normal controls were included in this study. The ALPS-index was calculated based on the DTI. Correlation analyses and mediation analysis were conducted to examine the relationship between glymphatic function and cognition. Remarkable differences in the ALPS-index were observed between subjects with and without CI. The ALPS-index was negatively correlated with age, WMH volume, and general cognitive function in all CSVD patients. In the mild CI group, the ALPS-index was independently positively related to episodic memory, and mediated the relationship between WMH volume and episodic memory. In conclusion, the ALPS-index is a potential marker for early recognition of CI in CSVD. Glymphatic dysfunction mediates the relationship between WMH and CI in CSVD.

Researchers have used both soil nematode data and soil quality index (SQI) data as indicators of soil quality. However, the relationship between soil nematodes and soil quality index is poorly understood. This study explored the relationship between soil nematode properties and soil quality in different land-use types in a subtropical karst region of Southwest China. We selected the following five typical land-use types that differ in the degree of soil disturbance: cropland (maize and soybean), sugarcane, mulberry, forage grass, and forest. SQI was calculated on the basis of bulk density (BD), soil pH, the ratio of soil organic carbon to total nitrogen (C:N), the contents of soil water (SWC), soil total nitrogen (TN), soil organic carbon content (SOC), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN), ammonium nitrogen (AN), nitrate nitrogen (NN), bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes (ACT), and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). We found that the abundance, Simpson dominance index, and metabolic footprint of soil nematodes were highest in the forest, followed by sugarcane, cropland (maize and soybean), forage grass, and mulberry. The SQI was highest in the forest and lowest in the cropland. There was no significant difference observed among the other three regions. In addition, the SQI was positively correlated with the total nematode biomass and abundances of total nematodes, fungivores, and herbivores, the abundances of total nematodes biomass and total nematode abundance, fungivores, and herbivores. A random forest model revealed that the dominant nematode genera (i.e., Coomansus and Acrobeloides) and the rare genera (i.e., Heterocephalobus) were closely associated with soil quality. Our results suggest that the soil nematodes (especially keystone genera) may mediate the effects of ecosystem disturbance on soil quality. These findings increase our understanding of the relationships between soil organisms and soil quality.

Quantitatively projecting the impact of future climate change on the socio-economy and exploring its internal mechanism are of great practical significance to adapt to climate change and prevent climate risks. Based on the economy-climate (C-D-C) model, this paper introduces a yield impact of climate change (YICC) model that can quantitatively project the climate change impact. The model is based on the YICC as its core concept and uses the impact ratio of climate change (IRCC) indicator to assess the response of the economic system to climate change over a long period of time. The YICC is defined as the difference between the economic output under changing climate condition and that under assumed invariant climate condition. The IRCC not only reflects the sensitivity of economic output to climate change but also reveals the mechanism of the nonlinear interaction between climate change and non-climatic factors on the socio-economic system. Using the main grain-producing areas in China as a case study, we use the data of the ensemble average of 5 GCMs in CMIP6 to project the possible impact of climate change on grain production in the next 15–30 years under three future scenarios (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP5-8.5). The results indicate that the long-term climate change in the future will have a restraining effect on production in North region and enhance production in South region. From 2021 to 2035, climate change will reduce production by 0.60–2.09% in North region, and increase production by 1.80–9.01% in South region under three future scenarios. From 2021 to 2050, compared with the climate change impact in 2021–2035, the negative impact of climate change on production in North region will weaken, and the positive impact on production in South region will enhance with the increase in emission concentration. Among them, climate change will reduce grain output in North region by 0.52–1.99%, and increase output in South region by 1.35–9.56% under the three future scenarios. The combination of economic results and climate change research is expected to provide scientific support for further revealing the economic mechanism of climate change impacts.

Inflammatory factors and type I interferons (IFNs) are key components of host antiviral innate immune responses, which can be released from the pathogen-infected macrophages. African swine fever virus (ASFV) has developed various strategies to evade host antiviral innate immune responses, including alteration of inflammatory responses and IFNs production. However, the molecular mechanism underlying inhibition of inflammatory responses and IFNs production by ASFV-encoded proteins has not been fully understood. Here we report that ASFV infection only induced low levels of IL-1β and type I IFNs in porcine alveolar macrophages (PAMs), even in the presence of strong inducers such as LPS and poly(dA:dT). Through further exploration, we found that several members of the multigene family 360 (MGF360) and MGF505 strongly inhibited IL-1β maturation and IFN-β promoter activation. Among them, pMGF505-7R had the strongest inhibitory effect. To verify the function of pMGF505-7R in vivo, a recombinant ASFV with deletion of the MGF505-7R gene (ASFV-Δ7R) was constructed and assessed. As we expected, ASFV-Δ7R infection induced higher levels of IL-1β and IFN-β compared with its parental ASFV HLJ/18 strain. ASFV infection-induced IL-1β production was then found to be dependent on TLRs/NF-κB signaling pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome. Furthermore, we demonstrated that pMGF505-7R interacted with IKKα in the IKK complex to inhibit NF-κB activation and bound to NLRP3 to inhibit inflammasome formation, leading to decreased IL-1β production. Moreover, we found that pMGF505-7R interacted with and inhibited the nuclear translocation of IRF3 to block type I IFN production. Importantly, the virulence of ASFV-Δ7R is reduced in piglets compared with its parental ASFV HLJ/18 strain, which may due to induction of higher IL-1β and type I IFN production in vivo. Our findings provide a new clue to understand the functions of ASFV-encoded pMGF505-7R and its role in viral infection-induced pathogenesis, which might help design antiviral agents or live attenuated vaccines to control ASF.

Scientific prediction of critical time points of the global temperature increases and assessment of the associated changes in extreme climate events can provide essential guidance for agricultural production, regional governance, and disaster mitigation. Using daily temperature and precipitation model outputs from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6), the time points of the temperature that will increase by 1.5 and 2.0°C were assessed under three different scenarios (SSP126, SSP245, and SSP585). To characterize the change of extreme climate events in the rice-growing regions in China, six indices were designed, and a time slice method was used. An analysis from an ensemble of CMIP6 models showed that under SSP245, the global mean temperature will rise by 1.5°C/2.0°C by approximately 2030/2049. A global warming of 2.0°C does not occur under SSP126. The time for a 1.5°C/2.0°C warming all becomes earlier under SSP585. Under 1.5°C of global warming, the number of warm days (TX90p), rice heat damage index (Ha), consecutive dry days (CDD), 5-day maximum precipitation (Rx5day), and number of annual total extreme precipitation events (R99pTOT) will clearly increase, while the number of cold damage (Cd) events will decrease. All the indices show a strong variability regionally. For example, the CDD increased significantly in the Central China and South China rice-growing regions. The monthly maximum consecutive 5-day precipitation increased by as much as 6.8 mm in the Southwest China rice-growing region.

As global warming issues become increasingly serious, grain yield and socioeconomic development have been seriously threatened. The key to ensuring grain yield is to recognize the risks caused by climate change. In this paper, the trends of temperature and precipitation over the next thirty years in China are analysed using CMIP6 under the SSP1–2.6, SSP2–4.5 and SSP 5–8.5 climate scenarios. The resilience indicators of grain yield are proposed for the first time. We find that the higher the emission concentration is, the greater the temperature increase will be and further northward the precipitation belt will move. Meanwhile, the resilience varies across different climate zones. The temperate monsoon climate zone has a stronger resilience to adapt to climate change compared to that of other areas. The resilience of the temperate continental and plateau alpine climate zones are moderate. However, the resilience of the subtropical and tropical monsoon climates zones are poor.

Abstract Using an aerosolclimate model, we studied the temporal and spatial variations of anthropogenic PM 2.5 (aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm) and coarse particulate matter (CPM; aerodynamic diameter >2.5 μm) under Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios from 2014 to 2050. The corresponding radiative forcing and climate responses were also explored. The PM 2.5 burden decreases over most continents, especially East Asia. The CPM particles increase over northern Asia, North America, and central Africa, in contrast to decrease over most regions of East Asia and North Africa. Relative to 2014, the global annual mean effective radiative forcing due to changes in PM 2.5 and CPM burden are 1.17 (1.10) and −0.06 ( −0.07) W m −2 under RCP4.5 (RCP8.5), respectively. The reduction in PM 2.5 burden leads to apparent warming, especially over high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, with global annual mean surface air temperature increasing by 1.25 K under RCP4.5, and 1.22 K under RCP8.5. In contrast, changes in CPM result in apparent cooling over North America and northern Asia, with global annual mean changes in surface air temperature of 0.10 K for both scenarios. The Northern Hemisphere Hadley cell weakens and moves northward due to changes in PM 2.5 after 2014, whereas the corresponding circulation in the Southern Hemisphere is strengthened, with the Intertropical Convergence Zone shifting to 10°N. Global annual mean precipitation increases by 0.10 mm day −1 under both scenarios. Generally, anthropogenic PM 2.5 contributes significantly to future changes in radiative forcing and climate.

African swine fever (ASF) is a severe hemorrhagic disease in swine characterized by massive lymphocyte depletion and cell death, with apoptosis and necrosis in infected lymphoid tissues. However, the molecular mechanism regarding ASFV-induced cell death remains largely unknown. In this study, 94 ASFV-encoded proteins were screened to determine the viral proteins involved in cell death in vitro, and pE199L showed the most significant effect. Ectopic expression of pE199L in porcine cells (CRL-2843) and human cells (HEK293T and HeLa cells) induced cell death remarkably, showing obvious shrinking, blistering, apoptotic bodies, and nuclear DNA fragments. Meanwhile, cell death was markedly alleviated when the expression of pE199L was knocked down during ASFV infection. Additionally, the expression of pE199L caused a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, release of cytochrome C, and caspase-9 and -3/7 activation, indicating that the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway was involved in pE199L-induced apoptosis. Further investigations showed that pE199L interacted with several anti-apoptotic BCL-2 subfamily members (such as BCL-XL, MCL-1, BCL-W, and BCL-2A1) and competed with BAK for BCL-XL, which promoted BAK and BAX activation. Taken together, ASFV pE199L induces the mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis, which may provide clues for a comprehensive understanding of ASFV pathogenesis.

We aimed to investigate the effects of genome, age, and soil factors on cultivated Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer (CPG) compounds under identical climate and agronomic practices. Eight populations of CPG from different years and rhizosphere soils were collected from garden and cropland in the city of Ji'an, China. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers were used to detect genetic diversity and identity, and soil microbial community diversity. Soil enzyme activities and nutrients were also measured. The contents of total ginsenosides (TG), Rg1, Re, Rf, Rd, and ginsenoside extractions of CPG were analyzed by spectrophotometry and HPLC. The relative importance of each factor was analyzed by mathematical methods such as correlation analysis, stepwise line regression, and path analysis. Regression equations of similarity values of HPLC fingerprint (SVHF), richness index of HPLC fingerprint (RIHF) and the TG, Rg1, Re, Rf, and Rd contents with their respective significant correlation factors were obtained. For SVHF, the relative importance is age>microbial community diversity>genetic diversity. For RIHF, the relative importance is age>genetic diversity>microbial community diversity. For TG, Rg1, and Rf contents, the relative importance is age>microbial community diversity. Ginseng age and genetic identity influenced Rd content, and age was more important. Total phosphorus was the only directly negative effect on Re. According to regression equations and path analysis, increasing age and decreasing Shannon (H') could improve the TG, Rg1, and Rf contents, with little effect on SVHF. Adding age, genetic diversity, and decreasing Shannon (H') increased RIHF. Adding age and genetic identity could also improve Rd content. Appropriate decreases in total phosphorus might increase Re content. These findings are significant for CPG scientific cultivation methods, through which CPG bioactive ingredients could be finely controlled via regulation of genotypes and cultural conditions.

Summary: DExD/H-box helicase members are key receptors for recognizing viral nucleic acids, and they regulate retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptor (RLR)-mediated type I interferon (IFN) production. Here, we report that the DExD/H-box helicase family member DExD/H-box RNA helicase 19 (DDX19) is a negative regulator of type I IFN production. Ectopic expression of DDX19 suppressed poly(I:C) (polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid)- and Sendai-virus-induced type I IFN production, whereas knockdown of DDX19 expression enhanced type I IFN production. Mechanistically, DDX19 inhibited TANK-binds kinase 1 (TBK1)- and inhibitor-κb kinase ε (IKKε)-mediated phosphorylation of interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) by disrupting the interaction between TBK1 or IKKε and IRF3. Additionally, DDX19 recruited Lamtor2 and then formed the TBK1-IKKε-Lamtor2-DDX19-IRF3 complex to suppress IFN production by promoting TBK1 and IKKε degradation. We generated Ddx19 knockout mice using transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) and found that Ddx19 deficiency in vivo augmented type I IFN production, resulting in suppression of encephalomyocarditis virus replication. These data show that DDX19 is an important negative regulator of RLR-mediated type I IFN production. : DExD/H-box helicase members are key receptors for recognizing viral nucleic acids and participate in regulating RLR-mediated type I IFN production. Ecological adaptation plays an important role in the process of plant expansion, and genetics and epigenetics are important in the process of plant adaptation. In this study, genetic and epigenetic analyses and soil properties were performed on D. angustifolia of 17 populations, which were selected in the tundra zone on the western slope of the Changbai Mountains. Our results showed that the levels of genetic and epigenetic diversity of D. angustifolia were relatively low, and the main variation occurred among different populations (amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP): 95%, methylation sensitive amplification polymorphism (MSAP): 87%). In addition, DNA methylation levels varied from 23.36% to 35.70%. Principal component analysis (PCA) results showed that soil properties of different populations were heterogeneous. Correlation analyses showed that soil moisture, pH and total nitrogen were significantly correlated with genetic diversity of D. angustifolia, and soil temperature and pH were closely related to epigenetic diversity. Simple Mantel tests and partial Mantel tests showed that genetic variation significantly correlated with habitat or geographical distance. However, the correlation between epigenetic variation and habitat or geographical distance was not significant. Our results showed that, in the case of low genetic variation and genetic diversity, epigenetic variation and DNA methylation may provide a basis for the adaptation of D. angustifolia.

Quantitatively assessing the spatial divergence of the sensitivity of crop yield to climate change is of great significance for reducing the climate change risk to food production. We use socio-economic and climatic data from 1981 to 2015 to examine how climate variability led to variation in yield, as simulated by an economy–climate model (C-D-C). The sensitivity of crop yield to the impact of climate change refers to the change in yield caused by changing climatic factors under the condition of constant non-climatic factors. An ‘output elasticity of comprehensive climate factor (CCF)’ approach determines the sensitivity, using the yields per hectare for grain, rice, wheat and maize in China’s main grain-producing areas as a case study. The results show that the CCF has a negative trend at a rate of −0.84/(10a) in the North region, while a positive trend of 0.79/(10a) is observed for the South region. Climate change promotes the ensemble increase in yields, and the contribution of agricultural labor force and total mechanical power to yields are greater, indicating that the yield in major grain-producing areas mainly depends on labor resources and the level of mechanization. However, the sensitivities to climate change of different crop yields to climate change present obvious regional differences: the sensitivity to climate change of the yield per hectare for maize in the North region was stronger than that in the South region. Therefore, the increase in the yield per hectare for maize in the North region due to the positive impacts of climate change was greater than that in the South region. In contrast, the sensitivity to climate change of the yield per hectare for rice in the South region was stronger than that in the North region. Furthermore, the sensitivity to climate change of maize per hectare yield was stronger than that of rice and wheat in the North region, and that of rice was the highest of the three crop yields in the South region. Finally, the economy–climate sensitivity zones of different crops were determined by the output elasticity of the CCF to help adapt to climate change and prevent food production risks.

With rapid economic development and urbanization, the air pollution problem over China has drawn great attention. To explore the aerosol direct effect (ADE) over China, two simulations were conducted using WRF-Chem V3.5.1 in the summer of 2015. One was a control run (CTL) including aerosol effect and related physical and chemical processes, and the other one was a sensitivity simulation (SEN), the same as CTL except that aerosol-radiation interactions were turned off. The differences between two tests were analyzed, in particular over regions in South China (SC) and East China (EC). Results showed the following. (1) The large-scale circulation showed a strong El Niño signal, associated with cooling and wet anomalies over EC, while warming and dry anomalies over EC. (2) Due to ADE, there was a significant decrease in precipitation and an increase in AOD over SC and EC, albeit with different mechanisms. (3) In SC, ADE cooled the region reinforcing the El Niño impact and suppressing water vapor fluxes, which led to a more stable atmosphere and weakened water cycle. In EC, ADE caused vertical circulation anomalies opposing the El Niño impact. (4) ADE showed obvious land-sea difference in precipitation and shortwave radiation.

In longitudinal hard disk drives, the medium Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is higher with better grain segregation or lower inter-grain exchange. In current energy assisted magnetic recording system, multilayer perpendicular media are utilized; thus, it is significant to study the influence of grain segregation on SNR, as well as the relevant percolation phenomenon, to give suggestions on the recording media design. In this study, micromagnetic recording models of Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording (MAMR) is built up to calculate SNR to find optimized [CoX/Pt]4 media parameters such as the inter-grain exchange Agb and the anisotropy orientation distribution αθ, with different field generation layer (FGL) saturation in the spin torque oscillator (STO). The constrained relationship between Agb and αθ in MAMR have been estimated, and the medium SNR will be optimized in the perpendicular [CoX/Pt]4 with a proper but not lowest exchange.

The influences of urbanization on weather in Guangdong Province, China, were studied using the Weather Research and Forecasting model from 31 December 2009 through 3 January 2010. Model outputs were compared with extensive monitoring of meteorological data to examine the simulation ability. Model results between tests (with and without land-use change) show that the urbanization had major effects on meteorological fields across nearly the entire Pearl River Delta region and particularly in urban areas. Studied fields (wind speed, temperature, precipitation, and sensible and latent heat fluxes) were affected by the urbanization of the PRD region. The major influences occurred in urban areas, where wind speeds decreased greatly, while the daytime surface upward sensible heat flux clearly increased. Unlike the sensible heat flux, the latent heat flux had a nonmonotonic increase or decrease. As a consequence of the two heat fluxes, 2-m temperature varied with location and time. Change of precipitation was complex. The main rain band became more concentrated, while precipitation decreased upwind of the urban area and increased downwind.

The alternate mapping correlated k-distribution (AMCKD) method is studied and applied to satellite simulations. To evaluate the accuracy of AMCKD, the simulated brightness temperatures at the top of the atmosphere are compared with line-by-line radiative transfer model (LBLRTM) or the observed data which are from Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) on board the Himawari-8, as well as Medium Resolution Spectral Imager (MERSI) on board the Fengyun-3D. The result of AMCKD is also compared with the algorithm of Radiative Transfer for the Television Observation Satellite Operational Vertical Sounder (RTTOV). Under the standard atmospheric profiles, the absolute errors of AMCKD in all longwave channels of AHI and MERSI are bounded by 0.44K compared to the benchmark results of LBLRTM, which are more accurate than those of RTTOV. In the most cases, the error of AMCKD is smaller than the NEDT at ST, while the error of RTTOV is larger than the instrument noise equivalent temperature (NEDT) at scene temperature (ST). Under real atmospheric profile conditions, the errors of AMCKD increase, because the input data from ERA-Interim reanalysis dataause bias in the satellite remote sensing results. In the most considered cases, the accuracy of AMCKD is higher than RTTOV, while the efficiency of AMCKD is slightly slower than RTTOV.
