The development of peroxidase mimics with enhanced peroxidase-like activity is critical to building a convenient and fast glucose colorimetric sensor. Herein, a porphyrin-based conjugated microporous polymer (FePCMP) was synthesized through a Pd-/CuI catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction. The FePCMP exhibited specific and superior POD-like activity evaluated by the fast oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (a chromogenic substrate, TMB) to form the blue product (oxTMB) in the presence of H2O2. The outstanding POD-like activity is mainly ascribed to the Fe-N4 active sites and the cross-linked porous framework of FePCMP. Furthermore, the FePCMP was applied in selective colorimetric detection of glucose through a glucose oxidase biocatalytic cascade reaction with a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.031 [Formula: see text]M in the linear range of 0.2–5 [Formula: see text]M. This study not only provided a new method for the design and synesis of specific POD-like nanozymes, but also the prepared FePCMP can be used as a POD-like enzyme for the colorimetric detection of other molecules, such as cholesterol, acetylcholine, etc.

This research developed a signal amplification strategy to construct a highly sensitive electrochemiluminescent (ECL) aptasensor by incorporating dysprosium metal-organic framework (Dy-MOF) as a co-reaction accelerator (CRA) in gadolinium (Gd) luminescent complex based ECL system. A new Gd(III) complex GdPc(acac) (Pc = phthalocyanine, acac = acetylacetonate) with semi-sandwich structure was rationally selected as ECL emitter, exhibiting excellent luminescence performance owing to the "antenna effect" from the conjugated macrocyclic ligand. For further improving the sensitivity of the ECL biosensor, Dy-MOF was introduced into the ECL system as CRA. The purposive design and configuration of the Dy-MOF structure accelerated the separation and transport of photogenerated charges, and the nanosheets formed by the composite material provided more active sites, which could not only greatly increased the luminophore loading, but also effectively shorten the transport distance of ions and co-reactants. The constructed biosensor showed superior performance to monitor kanamycin within 0.001 pg/mL-1000 ng/mL and a detection limit down to 0.3 fg/mL (S/N = 3). The current work opened up a skillful strategy to amplify ECL singnal, extending the application field of lanthanide complexes and providing valuable information for the future biosensor design.

Serotonin (SRT), one among the neurotransmitters, is mainly responsible for physiological functions in human body. The effect of changes and intake of SRT can influence higher impact of peoples, thus sensing such compound with more effective and simple technique will be an extreme significance. Zeolite imidazole framework among MOF was constructed with the correlation of multiwall carbon nanotubes (ZIF-67/MWCNT) as sensor material via simple co-precipitation method. The rationally designed ZIF-67/MWCNT was evaluated for physico-chemical properties analyzed with XRD, XPS and the morphological structures were identified with FESEM. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometric (IT) technique was initiated for electrochemical detection of SRT. The ZIF-67/MWCNT exhibited a dodecahedron shape and larger surface area as agreed from BET analysis. The electrochemical results obtained at the interfacial site of ZIF-67/MWCNT proved to be more competent with excellent selectivity. SRT was electrochemically detected in human blood serum and urine as real sample analysis. The linear range was 0.049 μM to 800 μM with a lower LOD-7 nM. Moreover, the attained sensitivity was 5.613 µA µM−1 cm2 with excellent repeatability and reproducible behavior. The highly conducting matrix ZIF-67/MWCNT with abundantly accessible sites and higher surface area has gained significant results towards SRT detection.

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) from linear two-coordinate coinage metal complexes is sensitive to the geometric arrangement of the ligands. Herein we realize the tuning of configuration from coplanar to orthogonal gradually by variation of substituents. In a complex with confined twist configuration, its blue emission peaking at 458 nm presents a high ΦPL of 0.74 and a short τTADF of 1.9 μs, which indicates a fast enough kr,TADF of 3.9×105 s-1 and a depressed knr of 1.4×105 s-1. Such outstanding luminescent properties are attributed to the proper overlap of HOMO and LUMO on Cu(I) d orbitals that guarantees not only small ΔEST but also sufficient transition oscillator strength for fast [[EQUATION]] . Vacuum-deposited blue OLEDs with either doped or host-free emissive layer present external quantum efficiencies over 20% and 10%, respectively, demonstrating the practicality of the configurationally confined strategy for efficient linear Cu(I) TADF emitters.

The unique properties of natural tetrapyrrolic compounds have inspired the rapid growth of research interest in the design and synthesis of artificial porphyrinoids and their metal complexes as a basis of modern functional materials. A special role in the design of such materials is played by sandwich complexes formed by tetrapyrrolic macrocycles with rare earth elements, especially lanthanides. The development of synthetic approaches to the functionalization of tetrapyrrolic compounds and their rare earth complexes has facilitated the intensive development of new applications over the last decade. As a way of expanding the functionalities of rare earth complexes, sophisticated examples have been obtained, including mixed-ligand complexes, π-extended analogues, covalently linked and fused sandwiches, complexes with less-common tetrapyrrols, sandwiches with non-tetrapyrrolic macrocycles and even complexes containing up to six stacked ligands. This review intends to offer a general overview of the preparation of such sophisticated REE tetrapyrrolic sandwiches over the last decade as well as emphasizes the current challenges and perspectives of their application in areas such as single-molecule magnetism (SMM), organic field-effect transistors (OFET), conductive materials and nonlinear optics (NLO).

Self-assembly of N,N,N ' ,N '-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)-1,4-phenylenediamine with the help of different solvents provides isostructural hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOF-30). Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis reveals HOF-30 possesses 3D ten-fold interpenetrated dia nets connected by two kinds of hydrogen bonds, namely solvent-bridged carboxyl dimers and carboxyl···carboxyl dimers. Degassing treatment for HOF-30 yields HOF-30a still with 3D ten-fold interpenetrated dia nets but linked with sole carboxyl···carboxyl dimers. Reversible hydrogen-bond-to-hydrogen-bond transformation between solvent-bridged·carboxyl dimers in HOF-30 and carboxyl···carboxyl dimers in HOF-30a has been unveiled by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction. In addition, HOF-30a enables the selective adsorption of propyne over propylene according to the single component sorption and breakthrough experiments. The preferred propyne location in HOF has also been identified by SCXRD test.

It is vitally important to develop high-efficiency low-cost catalysts to boost oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) for renewable energy conversion. Herein, an A-CoN3S1@C electrocatalyst with atomic CoN3S1 active sites loaded on N, S-codoped porous carbon was produced by an atomic exchange strategy. The constructed A-CoN3S1@C electrocatalyst exhibits an unexpected half-wave potential (0.901 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode) with excellent durability for ORR under alkaline conditions (0.1 M KOH), superior to the commercial platinum carbon (20 wt.% Pt/C). The outstanding performance of A-CoN3S1@C in ORR is due to the positive effect of S atoms doping on optimizing the electron structure of the atomic CoN3S1 active sites. Moreover, the rechargeable zinc-air battery in which both A-CoN3S1@C and IrO2 were simultaneously served as cathode catalysts (A-CoN3S1@C &IrO2) exhibits higher energy efficiency, larger power density, as well as better stability, compared to the commercial Pt/C&IrO2-based zinc-air battery. The present result should be helpful for developing lower cost and higher performance ORR catalysts which is expected to be used in practical applications in energy devices.

Fully aromatic conjugated covalent organic frameworks (FAC-COFs) with excellent physicochemical stability have been emerging as active semiconductors for diverse potential applications. Developing efficient synthesis methods for fabricating FAC-COFs will significantly facilitate the exploration over their material and photonic/electronic functionalities.
