IntroductionCoastal wetlands play an important role in the global ecosystem, yet they are increasingly facing ecological degradation due to pollution and the spread of invasive Spartina alterniflora (S. alterniflora). Among the environmental challenges, microplastics (MPs) contamination in S. alterniflora-invaded coastal wetlands is of growing concern. However, the effects of MPs pollution in S. alterniflora-invaded coastal wetlands are not clear.MethodsThis study investigated the effects of S. altemiflora invasion on the distribution of MPs and the effects of MPs pollution on the physicochemical properties of sediments and the structure of microbial communities in the Tiaozini wetland of Jiangsu Province, China.Results and discussionThe total MPs abundance of the S. altemiflora single-plant area was the highest (16.338 x103 items/kg d.w.). Polyurethane and Chlorinated polyisoprene are typical MPs types in the study area. Polyurethane exhibits high abundance at all sampling sites, while Chlorinated polyisoprene is one of the dominant MPs types in the single-plant and sub-mature area of S. alterniflora. The results showed that the invasion of S. alterniflora promoted the accumulation of MPs in the sediments of the coastal wetland. This accumulation increased the total organic carbon (TOC), available phosphorus (AP) and total nitrogen (TN) contents. Moreover, MPs pollution increased the ALP and SUC enzyme activities of sediment. In addition, MPs contamination increased the abundance of Proteobacteria and Bacteroidota in the sediments. This study highlights the complex interactions between MPs pollution and S. alterniflora invasion, providing the foundation for understanding the synergistic impacts of these stressors on coastal wetland ecosystems.

Abstract Background Pudendal neuralgia is a chronic and debilitating condition. Its prevalence ranges from 5 to 26%. Currently, therapeutic approaches to treat pudendal neuralgia include patient education, medication management, psychological and physical therapy, and procedural interventions, such as nerve block, trigger point injections, and surgery. Drug therapy has a limited effect on pain relief. A pudendal nerve block may cause a significant decrease in pain scores for a short time; however, its efficacy significantly decreases over time. In contrast, pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency can provide pain relief for 3 months, and ganglion impar block has been widely used for treating chronic perineal pain and chronic coccygodynia. This study aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of monotherapy (pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency) and combination therapy (pudendal nerve pulsed radiofrequency plus ganglion impar block) in patients with pudendal neuralgia. Methods This randomized, controlled clinical trial will include 84 patients with pudendal neuralgia who failed to respond to drug or physical therapy. Patients will be randomly assigned into one of the two groups: mono or combined treatment groups. The primary outcome will be a change in pain intensity measured using the visual analog scale. The secondary outcomes will include a Self-Rating Anxiety Scale score, Self-Rating Depression Scale score, the use of oral analgesics, the Medical Outcomes Study Health Survey Short Form-36 Item score, and the occurrence of adverse effects. The study results will be analyzed using intention-to-treat and per-protocol analyses. Primary and secondary outcomes will be evaluated between the mono and combined treatment groups. Subgroup analyses will be conducted based on the initial ailment, age, and baseline pain intensity. The safety of the treatment will be assessed by monitoring adverse events, which will be compared between the two groups. Discussion This study protocol describes a randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine the efficacy and safety of mono and combination therapies in patients with pudendal neuralgia. The study results will provide valuable information on the potential benefits of this combination therapy and contribute to the development of more effective and safer treatments for patients with pudendal neuralgia. This study examines the efficacy of biochar in improving water quality in urban artificial landscape water bodies. Three biochar types—wood biochar, coconut shell biochar, and apricot kernel biochar—were systematically evaluated, along with the purification effects of varying biochar dosages on landscape water. Water quality parameters were quantified using a multiparameter water quality meter, while the enhancement of visual aesthetics was validated through online questionnaires distributed to citizens. The findings include the following: All biochar types significantly reduced eutrophication indices and enhanced visual quality metrics, with coconut shell biochar demonstrating the most pronounced effects. The purification effect correlates with initial water quality and biochar dosage. Water bodies with poorer initial quality tend to show better purification results. While optimal biochar dosage improves water quality parameters, excessive application leads to decreased performance and potential water quality deterioration. Questionnaire analysis of visual preferences for the purified water showed that among biochar types, coconut shell biochar was most preferred (53.2%), followed by apricot kernel biochar (22.8%) and wood biochar (17.2%), while untreated water received the lowest preference (6.8%). When evaluating coconut shell biochar dosages, the 10 g/L treatment achieved the highest preference (67.4%), followed by 5 g/L (18.2%), while both the 15 g/L treatment and untreated water received notably lower preferences (7.1% and 7.3%, respectively). These findings highlight biochar as a promising tool for enhancing both the ecological and aesthetic qualities of urban water bodies, provided its application is carefully tailored to variable environmental conditions. The development of effective methods for dopamine detection is critical. In this study, a homogeneous colorimetric strategy for the detection of dopamine based on a copper sulfide and Prussian blue/platinum (CuS@PB/Pt) composite was developed. A rose-like CuS@PB/Pt composite was synthesized for the first time, and it was discovered that when hydrogen peroxide was present, the 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) changed from colorless into blue-oxidized TMB. The CuS@PB/Pt composite was characterized with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and an X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS). Moreover, the catalytic activity of the CuS@PB/Pt composite was inhibited by the binding of dopamine to the composite. The color change of TMB can be evaluated by the UV spectrum and a portable smartphone detection device. The developed colorimetric sensor can be used to quantitatively analyze dopamine between 1 and 60 µM with a detection limit of 0.28 μM. Furthermore, the sensor showed good long-term stability and good performance in human serum samples. Compared with other reported methods, this strategy can be performed rapidly (16 min) and has the advantage of smartphone visual detection. The portable smartphone detection device is portable and user-friendly, providing convenient colorimetric analysis for serum. This colorimetric strategy also has considerable potential for the development of in vitro diagnosis methods in combination with other test strips.

In this paper, the problem of a fully actuated hexarotor performing a physical interaction with the environment through a rigidly attached tool is considered. A nonlinear model predictive impedance control (NMPIC) method is proposed to achieve the goal in which the controller is able to simultaneously handle the constraints and maintain the compliant behavior. The design of NMPIC is the combination of a nonlinear model predictive control and impedance control based on the dynamics of the system. A disturbance observer is exploited to estimate the external wrench and then provide compensation for the model which was employed in the controller. Moreover, a weight adaptive strategy is proposed to perform the online tuning of the weighting matrix of the cost function within the optimal problem of NMPIC to improve the performance and stability. The effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method are validated by several simulations in different scenarios compared with the general impedance controller.
