Abstract

Academician ZHANG Huanqiao is an outstanding scientist cultivated by the new China in the 1950s. The impoverished and weak war environment of the old China and the hardship era of the new China have nurtured his patriotic determination to serve his motherland. He adhered to the frontline of scientific research and devoted himself wholeheartedly to it. His research fields spanned neutron physics, fission physics and heavy-ion nuclear physics, and he has achieved excellent results under difficult conditions. He committed himself to the country and measured the urgently needed nuclear data to cooperate with nuclear weapon development. He is rigorous and realistic, and repeatedly verifies the experimental results to ensure accuracy. He dares to take the lead and constantly delves into new research fields. All his actions reflect a silent loyalty and love for his motherland and science. He is an inheritor and speaker of the older generation scientists' spirit, and a microcosm of the scientist's spirit and the development of science and technology in the new China. We write this article for sharing on the occasion of academician ZHANG Huanqiao's 90th birthday.

6. Slight Multielement Doping-Induced Structural Order-Disorder Transition for High-Performance Layered Na-Ion Oxide Cathodes

Abstract

To realize concurrently the high-energy density and excellent cycling stability, maximum utilization of redox couple, minimization of detrimental phase transition, and structural degradation of O3-type layered oxide cathodes are critical for developing Na-ion batteries. Ni2+/Ni4+ redox couple showing multielectron reaction and higher redox potential is favorable to increase the energy density. However, the Jahn-Teller distortion of Ni3+ generated upon (dis)charging results in a strong anisotropy in the local crystal structure that causes irreversible interlayer bending and chemo-mechanical cracks of the cathode particles, compromising the electrochemical properties eventually. In this work, we show a slight multielement doping strategy that enlarges the amount of active redox components while minimizing the inactive contents. The results show that the uniform distribution of multiple components can help increase the disorder degree of atom arrangement and alleviate the structural changes and detrimental anisotropy cracks. As a proof of concept, a multielement-doped O3-type Na0.9Ni0.25Cu0.05Mg0.05Zn0.05Fe0.05Al0.05Mn0.40Ti0.05Sn0.05O2 oxide is rationally prepared that presents better chemo-mechanical stability and delayed O3-P3 phase transition behavior. Compared to the high Ni-content Na0.9Ni0.35Fe0.2Mn0.45O2 cathode, this as-prepared multielement material delivers a reversible capacity of about 120 mAh/g in the voltage range of 2-4.0 V, superior cycling stability with 90% of capacity retention after 500 cycles, and excellent rate capability (more than 70% of initial capacity at 5.0 C). Abstract

All cross sections, angular distributions, energy spectra, and double differential cross sections are consistently calculated and analyzed for n+93Nb reaction at incident neutron energy up to 200 MeV based on the nuclear theoretical models. The theoretical calculated results are compared with the existing experimental data and the evaluated data in ENDF/B-VII, JENDL-4, and TENDL-2015. The calculated results agree with the experiential data.

Abstract

Bi 0.9 Pr 0.1 FeO 3 (BPF), BiFe 0.9 Ti 0.1 O 3 (BFT), Bi 0.9 Pr 0.1 Fe 0.9 Ti 0.1 O 3 (BPFT-10), and Bi 0.9 Pr 0.1 Fe 0.95 Ti 0.05 O 3 (BPFT-5) ceramics are prepared for a comparison study. X-ray diffraction indicates that all of the samples crystallize in rhombohedral structures with R 3c symmetry. The Pr and Ti co-doped samples show an especially low dielectric loss of 0.02–0.04 throughout the entire investigated frequency range. A markedly improved polarization hysteresis loop is successfully achieved for samples BPFT-10 and BPFT-5, and their remnant polarization P r values are 0.11 and 0.29 μC/cm 2 , respectively. Magnetic measurements indicate that the substitution of Ti 4+ for Fe 3+ improves the ferromagnetic properties due to the suppression of the spiral spin structure. A remnant magnetization M r of 0.176 emu/g was observed for BPFT-10 at 5 K.
