15. Study of catalytic hydrogenation performance for the Pd/CeO2 catalysts.

Abstract

Pd/CeO2 catalysts with different metallic Pd loading were synthesized by impregnation method. The physicochemical properties of prepared Pd/CeO2 catalysts and corresponding precursors were studied by XRD, XPS, H2-TPD and H2-TPR. Moreover, the catalytic performance of the Pd/CeO2 catalysts was investigated via gas phase benzene hydrogenation reaction at the temperature of 100–200 °C under atmosphere pressure. Results show that the catalytic performance of prepared Pd/CeO2 catalysts is directly related to the metallic Pd content. The amounts of active metallic Pd and adsorbed-desorbed hydrogen species on Pd/CeO2 catalysts increase with the increasing metallic Pd loading from 1.0 to 3.0%, while the numbers of them are slightly reduced on Pd/CeO2(3.5) catalyst. Furthermore, metallic Pd is highly dispersed on the nano-CeO2 supports, therefore, the prepared Pd/CeO2 catalysts present good gas phase benzene catalytic hydrogenation performance. At 200 °C, the benzene conversion over the Pd/CeO2 catalysts with different metallic Pd loading follows the rule: Pd/CeO2(3.0) > Pd/CeO2(3.5) > Pd/CeO2(2.5) > Pd/CeO2(2.0) > Pd/CeO2(1.5) > Pd/CeO2(1.0), corresponding values are 94.3, 96.4, 89.9, 82.8, 72.7, 42.6 and 94.3%. And the cyclohexane selectivity is 100% on all prepared Pd/CeO2 catalysts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A series of Ni/KIT6 catalystprecusors with 25wt.%Ni loading amount were reduced in H2 at 400, 450, 500, and 550ºC, respectively. The studied catalysts were investigated by XRD, Quasiin-situ XPS, BET, TEM, and H2-TPDanalysis methods.It was found that reduction temperature is an important factor affecting the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) performance of the studied catalysts. The reduction temperature influences mainly the content of active components, crystal size, and the abilityfor adsorbing and activatingH2. The developed pore structure and large specific surface area of the KIT-6 support favored the Ni dispersion.The RT450 catalyst, which was prepared in H2 atmosphere at 450 ºC, has the best HDO performance. Ethyl acetate can be completely transformed, and maintain 96.8% ethane selectivity and 3.2% methane selectivity at 300 ºC. The calculated apparent activation energies of the prepared catalysts increased in the following order: RT550 > RT400 > RT500 > RT450.

19. Effect of Calcination Temperature on Catalytic Performance of CeCu Oxide in Removal of Quinoline by Wet Hydrogen Peroxide Oxidation from Water

Abstract

A facile citric acid-mediated complexation-calcination approach is reported in this paper to prepare the CeCu oxide composite with a porous structure that is highly efficient and durable for treating simulated quinoline wastewater by catalytic wet hydrogen peroxide oxidation (CWPO). As the results indicate, Cu species can be dissolved in CeO2 lattice to fabricate a solid solution. The calcination temperature is critical for an optimum catalyst structure and catalytic performance. As found in investigating the structure and catalytic performance of the CeCu oxide prepared at calcination temperatures ranging from 350 to 750 ºC, the optimum temperature is 650 ºC, at which a loose surface, a porous structure and considerable adsorbed surface oxide/hydroxyl oxide species are fabricated over the catalyst. This resultant catalyst also takes on the optimal performance with an oxidation conversion reaching 98% for quinoline, a removal efficiency of 80.6% for total organic carbon (TOC) and a low Cu2+ leaching value of 19.3 mg L-1. Besides, the high performance is maintained by the catalysts in a wide pH range of 5.1-10.5. This work generally provides an efficient way to design and fabricate the catalyst for CWPO reaction, which can also be applied in other reactions.

Abstract

Mesoporous M-CeO2 (M = Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, and Cu) catalysts were prepared using the hard-template method and applied to investigate CO2 reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction. The physicochemical properties were studied using H2-TPR, XRD, BET, CO2-TPD, and H2-TPD. Results show that the specific surface areas of the prepared Ni-CeO2, Co-CeO2, Fe-CeO2, Mn-CeO2, and Cu-CeO2 catalysts exceed 120 m2/g. CO2 RWGS reaction performances are affected by the d-orbital holes of transition metals. CO2 RWGS reaction catalytic activities are ranked as follows: Ni-CeO2 > Cu-CeO2 > Co-CeO2 > Fe-CeO2 ≈ Mn-CeO2. The Cu-CeO2, Fe-CeO2, and Mn-CeO2 catalysts maintain 100 % CO selectivity at the studied temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
