Background Cervical cancer (CC) endangers women’s health in the world range. Accumulating studies have revealed the crucial regulatory role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in multiple malignancies, including CC. Our study aimed to explore the role of lncRNA double homeobox A pseudogene 8 (DUXAP8) in cervical carcinogenesis. Methods Gene expressions in CC were assessed by RT-qPCR. Function experiments and tube formation assays were performed to evaluate the role of DUXAP8 in CC cells. Subcellular fractionation and FISH assays were conducted to determine the subcellular location of DUXAP8. Luciferase reporter, RNA pull down and RIP assays were conducted to investigate the mechanism of DUXAP8. Results DUXAP8 was notably upregulated in CC cells. Downregulation of DUXAP8 repressed cell malignant behaviors and angiogenesis in CC. Mechanically, DUXAP8 boosted the expression of reticulocalbin-2 (RCN2) through relieving the binding of miR-1297 to RCN2 3’-UTR. Moreover, miR-1297 inhibition and RCN2 overexpression could counteract the inhibitory effects of DUXAP8 knockdown on the malignant phenotypes of CC cells. Besides, enhanced RCN2 expression restored the tumor growth in vivo that was inhibited by DUXAP8 repression. Conclusions DUXAP8 promotes malignant behaviors in CC cells via regulating miR-1297/RCN2 axis. Graphical Abstract

A whole-cell biosensor developed with yeast Saccharomyces cerevisia to detect the toxicity of chlorothalonil has been developed. This biosensor relied on the inhibition effect for metabolism by toxicants to provide detection and the degree of toxicity to yeast cells. In order to further improve the toxic sensitivity of yeast cells biosensor, the effect of the action time, the initial pH value of the medium and the temperature on inhibiting cell growth were investigated. Response surface regression analysis was conducted to obtain optimal culture conditions. Th effects of treated yeast morphology, ROS, DNA, caspase 3 activity were analyzed. This optimized yeast as a biosensor was used to detect chlorothalonil and heavy metals. The results are as follows: at optimal culture conditions, EC50 values of chlorothalonil to yeast biosensor determined at incubation time 4 h increased from 0.25 µg·mL-1 in the control to 0.006 µg·mL-1, which increased by 41.67 times. Compared with the control yeast cells, the morphology of optimized yeast cells were more transparent, with significantly increased intracellular vesicle rate and cell membrane permeability, intracelluar ROS increased siginificantly, DNA bands extracted was ladder, and caspase 3 activity was stimulated. The yeast biosensor had a high sensitivity to heavy metals. After analysis, many treated cells were apoptosis which was the main reason for the increasing sensitivity to detect harmful substances. It was found that the method provides a new idea for the detection of harmful substances in the environment.Yeast cells biosensor could be used to detect harmful substances in the environment, sunch as chlorothalonil, heavy metals. Even through chemical analysis methods, such as ICP-MS and High Performance Liquid Choromatography (HPLC), have strengths in accuracy and limit of detection, it is impossible to evaluate the cytotoxicity and the biological effect of waste water by chemical result alone, and it is also expensive, prolix and complicated. However, the yeast cell biosensor is easy to operate, is sensitive to various toxicants, comparable to the other totxicity detection methods, is cheap in cost, and has. Therefore, the method which used yeast cells as biosensor will have great potential in the detection of the cytotoxicity of waste water in the future.

To understand rural fathers' involvement in early childhood education, an anonymous self-report questionnaire was distributed to 400 fathers of children in six kindergartens in Sichuan Province. Mean of the scale is 3.78, in which the subscale of Mother Support (4.09±1.06) scores the highest, while Attentiveness (3.28±0.88) scores the lowest. Fathers different in education, occupations and number of children involves in children’s education differently. It was found that rural fathers’ involvement in early childhood education of Sichuan is comparatively low. It is necessary to reveal the factors hindering their participation through further research and find methods to improve it.

Father’s involvement in early childhood participants can be influenced by family structures. Presently, the number of nuclear families is decreasing in China with the increase of families where fathers are absent or grandparents participate in parenting. Therefore, fathers in China are now facing the lack of motivations, skills, time, situations and method to participate in kids’ early childhood education. To break them through, a father needs support from the society, the kindergarten and the family to assist him to try participating actively into parenting.

A novel compact internal triple-band handset antenna for covering the GSM900, DCS1800, and PCS1900 bands is presented. This proposed antenna mainly consists of two folded meandering branches to meet the needs for triple-band operation and occupies a total volume of 32×10×4 mm3. The HFSS simulation software is employed for optimizing the design parameters. A prototype has been fabricated and studied. Both simulated and measured results show that the resulting antenna is able to operate in the GSM, DCS and PCS bands with return loss less than −7.5 dB (VSWR ≪ 2.5). The measured maximum radiation gains at the frequencies of 0.92, 1.8 and 1.9 GHz are about 2.2, 4.6 and 4.8 dBi, respectively.

The antenna, used in multi-band system, must operate in several bands, and it is better to be compact in size. A new multi-band (GSM/DCS/PCS/UMTS) folded planar monopole antenna has been presented in this paper, and the simulation has been completed by the software Ansoft HFSS10.0. The results show that the antenna is able to operate in multi- band and its structure is compact. So the antenna could satisfy the requirements of new generation wireless communication system to frequency and bandwidth. It provides a new scheme for designing a planar monopole antenna for mobile handsets.
