Abstract The mechanism of Y on H/H2 adsorption performance of Mg17Al12 were studied by the density functional theory. We obtained that for the Y-adsorbed systems, Y tended to occupy on the bridge site between adjacent Mg atoms. For the Y-substituted surfaces, Y atoms inclined to replace Mg atoms on the surfaces. We found that hydrogen (H/H2) absorption on the Mg17Al12(110) systems were improved by adding Y, the order of adsorption energy was as follows: clean Mg17Al12(110) > the Y-substituted surfaces > the Y-adsorbed surfaces. In addition, H2 molecules could dissociate on the Y-containing systems without barrier energy. Electronic properties showed that for H2 adsorption, the s states of atomic H mainly hybridized with the d states of Y. The formations of the Y-H bonds and the interactions between Y and H atoms could expound the mechanism for the promoted hydrogenation performance of the Y-containing surfaces.

Abstract In the era of data‐driven transportation development, traffic forecasting is crucial. Established studies either ignore the inherent spatial structure of the traffic network or ignore the global spatial correlation and may not capture the spatial relationships adequately. In this work, a Dynamic Spatial‐Temporal Network (DSTN) based on Joint Latent Space Representation (JLSR) is proposed for traffic forecasting. Specifically, in the spatial dimension, a JLSR network is developed by integrating graph convolution and spatial attention operations to model complex spatial dependencies. Since it can adaptively fuse the representation information of local topological space and global dynamic space, a more comprehensive spatial dependency can be captured. In the temporal dimension, a Stacked Bidirectional Unidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (SBUGRU) network is developed, which captures long‐term temporal dependencies through both forward and backward computations and superimposed recurrent layers. On these bases, DSTN is developed in an encoder‐decoder framework and periodicity is flexibly modeled by embedding branches. The performance of DSTN is validated on two types of real‐world traffic flow datasets, and it improves over baselines.

Exploring stable and robust catalysts to replace the current toxic CuCr based catalysts for dehydrogenative coupling of ethanol to ethyl acetate is a challenging but promising task. Herein, novel NiIn based catalysts were developed by tailoring Ni catalysts with Indium (In) for this reaction. Over the optimal Ni0.1Zn0.7Al0.3InOx catalyst, the ethyl acetate selectivity reached 90.1% at 46.2% ethanol conversion under the conditions of 548 K and a weight hourly space velocity of 1.9 h−1 in the 370 h time on stream. Moreover, the ethyl acetate productivity surpassed 1.1 gethylacetategcatalyst−1h−1, one of the best performance in current works. According to catalyst characterizations and conditional experiments, the active sites for dehydrogenative coupling of ethanol to ethyl acetate were proved to be Ni4In alloys. The presence of In tailored the chemical properties of Ni, and subsequently inhibited the C–C cracking and/or condensation reactions during ethanol conversions. Over Ni4In alloy sites, ethanol was dehydrogenated into acetaldehyde, and then transformed into acetyl species with the removal of H atoms. Finally, the coupling between acetyl species and surface-abundant ethoxyde species into ethyl acetate was achieved, affording a high ethyl acetate selectivity and catalyst stability.

Abstract This study explores the role of SIRT2 in regulating autophagy and its interaction with AMPK in the context of acute liver failure (ALF). This study investigated the effects of SIRT2 and AMPK on autophagy in ALF mice and TAA-induced AML12 cells. The results revealed that the liver tissue in ALF model group had a lot of inflammatory cell infiltration and hepatocytes necrosis, which were reduced by SIRT2 inhibitor AGK2. In comparison to normal group, the level of SIRT2, P62, MDA, TOS in TAA group were significantly increased, which were decreased in AGK2 treatment. Compared with normal group, the expression of P-PRKAA1, Becilin1 and LC3B-II was decreased in TAA group. However, AGK2 enhanced the expression of P-PRKAA1, Becilin1 and LC3B-II in model group. Overexpression of SIRT2 in AML12 cell resulted in decreased P-PRKAA1, Becilin1 and LC3B-II level, enhanced the level of SIRT2, P62, MDA, TOS. Overexpression of PRKAA1 in AML12 cell resulted in decreased SIRT2, TOS and MDA level and triggered more autophagy. In conclusion, the data suggested the link between AMPK and SIRT2, and reveals the important role of AMPK and SIRT2 in autophagy on acute liver failure.

Abstract Lobopodians represent a key step in the early history of ecdysozoans since they were the first animals to evolve legs within this clade. Their Cambrian representatives share a similar body plan with a typically cylindrical annulated trunk and a series of non-jointed legs. However, they do not form a monophyletic group and likely include ancestors of the three extant panarthropod lineages (Tardigrada, Onychophora, Euarthropoda). Some species display astonishing protective devices such as cuticular plates and spines. We describe here the armor and molting process of Microdictyon from the early Cambrian of China. Microdictyon secreted ovoid paired cuticular sclerites that were duplicated in a non-synchronous way along the animal’s body. The reticulated pattern and cuticular architecture of these sclerites have similarities to extant armored tardigrades that recently served in hypothesizing that tardigrades are possibly miniaturized lobopodians. Ecdysis and hard cuticular protection are now well documented in the whole spectrum of early Cambrian ecdysozoans such as soft-bodied scalidophorans, lobopodians and fully articulated euarthropods. We hypothesize that the secretion of sclerotized cuticular elements periodically renewed via ecdysis was a key innovation that opened large-scale evolutionary opportunities to invertebrate animal life, specifically ecdysozoans, both in terms of anatomical functionalities and ecological success.

Abstract Introduction and objectives In diseases characterized by fibrosis, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are mesenchymal cells that play an important role in liver fibrosis. circRNAs are involved in regulating hydatid exocyst formation through miRNA sponge adsorption. The mechanisms of hepatic cystic hydatid outer cyst formation, HSC, and liver fibrosis are unclear. Materials and methods Based on our sequencing data, we validated the mechanism by which circRNA-049637 regulated hepatic cystic hydatid growth and promoted outer fibrocystic wall formation. Results Our results revealed that circRNA_049637 silencing promoted the proliferation of LX-2 human HSCs, affected the cell cycle, and increased the mRNA and protein expression levels of liver fibrosis-related indicators such as α-SMA, COL1A1, COL3A1, and TGFβRII. Conclusions CircRNA_049637 may induce the formation of hepatic hydatid cysts by promoting hepatic fibrosis via HSC activation.

Abstract Understanding farmers’ future residential preferences and the factors affecting these choices is crucial for tackling the issues related to hollow village management and rural planning. Despite limited research on the role of the family life cycle, this study explores how the family life cycle, characteristics of the household head, livelihood strategies, and resource availability shape farmers’ future residential preferences. Data were collected from 777 households in China’s main grain-producing area. The findings reveal that 52.90% of households prefer to stay in their current rural residences. Other favored options are elderly care facilities (13.90%), living with children in the village (12.36%), and ancestral homes (11.68%). Abstract Acute liver failure (ALF) is a disease with a high mortality rate and poor prognosis, whose pathogenesis is not fully understood. PANoptosis is a recently proposed mode of cell death characterized by pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis, but it cannot be explained by any of them alone. This study aims to explore the role of PANoptosis in ALF and the impact and mechanism of deacetylated malate dehydrogenase 1 (MDH1) and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) on PANoptosis. Our results found that, compared with the control group, the cell viability in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/D-galactosamine (D-Gal) group decreased, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release increased, cell death increased, and the levels of PANoptosis-related molecules RIPK1, GSDMD, caspase-3, MLKL, IL-18, IL-1β increased, indicating that PANoptosis increased during ALF. Deacetylated MDH1 at K118 and IDH1 at K93 increased the expression of PANoptosis-related molecules RIPK1, GSDMD, caspase-3, MLKL, IL-18, and IL-1β in vivo and in vitro. The deacetylation weakened the inhibitory effect of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor ACY1215 on PANoptosis-related molecules, suggesting that deacetylated MDH1 at K118 and IDH1 at K93 aggravated PANoptosis during ALF. Deacetylated MDH1 at K118 and IDH1 at K93 also promoted the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related molecules BIP, ATF6, XBP1, and CHOP in vivo and in vitro. The use of endoplasmic reticulum stress inhibitor 4-PBA weakened the promotion effect of deacetylated MDH1 K118 and IDH1 K93 on PANoptosis. The results suggested that deacetylated MDH1 at K118 and IDH1 at K93 may aggravate PANoptosis in ALF through endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling. In conclusion, deacetylated MDH1 and IDH1 may aggravate PANoptosis in ALF, and the mechanism may act through endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling.

Angiopteris nodosipetiolata Ting Wang tris, H.F.Chen & Y.H.Yan, a new fern of Marattiaceae, is described and illustrated. Morphologically, A. nodosipetiolata is similar to A. chingii with more than one naked pulvinus on the stipe and numerous jointed hairs on the undersides of the mature pinnae. However, the pinnae of A. nodosipetiolata are lanceolate and can reach up to 4–6 pairs, whereas they are elliptic and occur in 2–3 pairs in A. chingii. Phylogenetic and genetic distance analysis, based on the plastid genomes, also indicates that A. nodosipetiolata is not closely related to A. chingii. Currently, there are ca. 500 mature individuals in Gulinqing Nature Reserve and we suggest A. nodosipetiolata should be categorised as an Endangered (EN) species according to the criteria of IUCN.

IntroductionThe prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and vitamin D levels in patients with epilepsy (PWE) were systematically evaluated, and the differences between subgroups were analyzed.MethodWe identified all articles investigating the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in patients with epilepsy from the database established in March 2024 from PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase. We divided them into anti-seizure medication (ASM) interventions and non-ASM interventions according to whether or not someone used ASM.ResultsA total of 68 articles were included. The prevalence of newly diagnosed epilepsy was 50.2% (95% CI: 38.7–61.7%), and the prevalence after ASM intervention was 47.9% (95% CI: 40–55.9%), including 7,070 patients with epilepsy. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses were performed according to the diagnostic criteria, economic development level, region, age, ASM treatment, and other factors. The results showed that the differences were not significant. In addition, the vitamin D content of epilepsy patients (18.719 ng/mL) was lower than that of healthy people (20.295 ng/mL).ConclusionThe prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in patients with epilepsy is very high. Still, the related factors have little effect on the high prevalence of vitamin D in epilepsy, and ASM intervention can reduce the vitamin D content in patients with epilepsy. Therefore, it is emphasized that monitoring vitamin D levels is part of the routine management of patients with epilepsy.Systematic review registrationThe protocol was registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO). Abstract Per‐ and poly‐fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are long‐lasting environmental contaminants that are released into the environment during the e‐waste disassembly process, pose a threat to human health. Human milk is a complex and dynamic mixture of endogenous and exogenous substances, including steroid hormones and PFAS. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the association between PFAS and steroid hormones in human milk from women living close to an e‐waste disassembly area. In 2021, we collected milk samples from 150 mothers within 4 weeks of delivery and analyzed them via liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry to determine the levels of 21 perfluorinated compounds and five steroid hormones (estrone, estriol, testosterone, progesterone, and androstenedione [A‐dione]). We also performed multiple linear regression analysis to clarify the association between maternal PFAS exposure and steroid hormone concentrations. Our results indicated that PFOA and PFOS were positively associated with estrone (β, 0.23; 95% CI, 0.08–0.39) and A‐dione (β, 0.186; 95% CI, 0.016–0.357) concentrations in human milk, respectively. Further, the average estimated daily intake of PFOA and PFOS were 36.5 ng/kg bw/day (range, 0.52–291.7 ng/kg bw/day) and 5.21 ng/kg bw/day (range, 0.26–32.3 ng/kg bw/day), respectively. Of concern, the PFAS intake of breastfeeding infants in the study area was higher than the recommended threshold. These findings suggested that prenatal exposure to PFAS from the e‐waste disassembly process can influence steroid hormones levels in human milk. Increased efforts to mitigate mother and infant exposure to environmental pollutants are also required.

Rebar lap splicing is a widely used method of reinforcement connection in precast concrete structures, and the lap-slip model serves as an important prerequisite for conducting detailed mechanical calculations of reinforced concrete lap splice members. Most traditional bond-slip mechanical models are semi-empirical and semi-theoretical formulas derived from experimental data; they do not consider the effect of reinforcement lap spacing, which prevents them from accurately reflecting the force transfer characteristics of lap reinforcement in concrete. In this paper, a Back Propagation (BP) neural network based on a Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to establish a lap-slip model of reinforced concrete considering rebar spacing, which improves on the current bond-slip mechanical model. Several sets of rebar lap tests based on RC/ECC/UHPC were designed, and full-sample parameter sensitivity analyses were carried out using the lap length, the thickness of the concrete cover, the rebar spacing and the stirrup ratio as test parameters. The results showed that rebar lap spacing was an important influencing factor in the proposed lap-slip model, with a sensitivity coefficient reaching 0.471. The lap-slip model, based on the GA-BP neural network, was developed and compared with existing models; the predictive ability of the model was verified by the ten-fold crossover method. The generalizability of the GA-BP model was verified by randomly selecting non-training test data as well as lap test data of rebar in different types of concrete. The results indicated that the model exhibits high predictive and generalization abilities, with most correlation coefficients exceeding 0.95. The proposed model was compared with a mechanical model established using the traditional fitting formula method, and the results showed that the prediction accuracy of the lap-slip model established based on the GA-BP neural network is slightly lower than that of the mechanical model obtained using the fitting formula method, but it still offers high prediction accuracy, and the prediction results are more objective and realistic, which is of guiding significance for practical applications and related research.

Laser anti-drone technology is entering the sequence of actual combat, and it is necessary to consider the vulnerability of typical functional parts of UAVs. Since the concept of ''vulnerability'' was proposed, a variety of analysis programs for battlefield targets to traditional weapons have been developed, but a comprehensive assessment methodology for targets’ vulnerability to laser is still missing. Based on the shotline method, this paper proposes a method that equates laser beam to shotline array, an efficient vulnerability analysis program of target to laser is established by this method, and the program includes the circuit board and the wire into the vulnerability analysis category, which improves the precision of the vulnerability analysis. Taking the UAV engine part as the target of vulnerability analysis, combine with the ''life-death unit method'' to calculate the laser penetration rate of various materials of the UAV, and the influence of laser weapon system parameters and striking orientation on the killing probability is quantified after introducing the penetration rate into the vulnerability analysis program. The quantitative analysis method proposed in this paper has certain general expansibility, which can provide a fresh idea for the vulnerability analysis of other targets to laser.

Abstract Background Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening disease, but its pathogenesis is not fully understood. NETosis is a novel mode of cell death. Although the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) has been found in various liver diseases, the specific mechanism by which NETosis regulates the development of ALF is unclear. In this article, we explore the role and mechanism of NETosis in the pathogenesis of ALF. Methods Clinically, we evaluated NETs-related markers in the liver and peripheral neutrophils of patients with ALF. In in vitro experiments, HL-60 cells were first induced to differentiate into neutrophil-like cells (dHL-60 cells) with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). NETs were formed by inducing dHL-60 cells with PMA. In in vivo experiments, the ALF model in mice was established with LPS/d-gal, and the release of NETs was detected by immunofluorescence staining and western blotting. Finally, the acetylation levels of IDH1 and MDH1 were detected in dHL-60 cells and liver samples by immunoprecipitation. Results Clinically, increased release of NETs in liver tissue was observed in patients with ALF, and NETs formation was detected in neutrophils from patients with liver failure. In dHL-60 cells, mutations at IDH1-K93 and MDH1-K118 deacetylate IDH1 and MDH1, which promotes the formation of NETs. In a mouse model of ALF, deacetylation of IDH1 and MDH1 resulted in NETosis and promoted the progression of acute liver failure. Conclusions Deacetylation of IDH1 and MDH1 reduces their activity and promotes the formation of NETs. This change aggravates the progression of acute liver failure.

In the paper, we presented a data-driven optimal control method for the sub-satellite deployment of tethered satellite systems during the release phase, with the objective of reducing the libration angle fluctuation during system work. First, the dynamic equation of the tethered satellite system was established and processed dimensionless. Considering the presence of noise when sensors were put on the satellite to measure the libration angle, the corresponding state equation was derived. Next, we estimated the system state using an unscented Kalman filter and established a performance index and the Hamilton function. Based on the index, we designed an optimal control strategy and provided sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. We used critic-actor neural networks based on measurement data to implement the data-driven control algorithm to approximate the performance index function and the control policy, respectively. Finally, taking a tethered satellite system as an example, a simulation showed that the unscented Kalman filter can effectively estimate the system state and improve the impact of noise on the system, and the proposed optimal control strategy ensured that the tethered satellite system is stable, which shows the applicability and effectiveness of the control strategy in reducing the tether vibration of the disturbed system.

Earth’s magnetopause is a thin boundary separating the shocked solar wind plasma from the magnetospheric plasmas, and it is also the boundary of the solar wind energy transport to the magnetosphere. Soft X-ray imaging allows investigation of the large-scale magnetopause by providing a two-dimensional (2-D) global view from a satellite. By performing 3-D global hybrid-particle-in-cell (hybrid-PIC) simulations, we obtain soft X-ray images of Earth’s magnetopause under different solar wind conditions, such as different plasma densities and directions of the southward interplanetary magnetic field. In all cases, magnetic reconnection occurs at low latitude magnetopause. The soft X-ray images observed by a hypothetical satellite are shown, with all of the following identified: the boundary of the magnetopause, the cusps, and the magnetosheath. Local X-ray emissivity in the magnetosheath is characterized by large amplitude fluctuations (up to 160%); however, the maximum line-of-sight-integrated X-ray intensity matches the tangent directions of the magnetopause well, indicating that these fluctuations have limited impact on identifying the magnetopause boundary in the X-ray images. Moreover, the magnetopause boundary can be identified using multiple viewing geometries. We also find that solar wind conditions have little effect on the magnetopause identification. The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) mission will provide X-ray images of the magnetopause for the first time, and our global hybrid-PIC simulation results can help better understand the 2-D X-ray images of the magnetopause from a 3-D perspective, with particle kinetic effects considered.

ABSTRACTMimotope, a kind of peptide vaccine, is developed to bind natural receptor and inhibit the downstream signaling. We have demonstrated that the vaccination of Tocilizumab mimotopes could alleviate the renal fibrosis by interfering with both IL-6 and ferroptosis signaling. However, the effect of the vaccination of Tocilizumab mimotopes on the fibroblast was not investigated in previous study. Thus, we sought to explore the changes in the fibroblast induced by the Tocilizumab mimotopes vaccination. Bleomycin instillation was performed to construct the pulmonary fibrosis model after the immunization of Tocilizumab mimotopes. Lung histological analysis showed that the Tocilizumab mimotopes could significantly reduce the maladaptive repairment and abnormal remodeling. Immunoblotting assay and fluorescence staining showed that Immunization with the Tocilizumab mimotopes reduces the accumulation of fibrosis-related proteins. High level of lipid peroxidation product was observed in the animal model, while the Tocilizumab mimotopes vaccination could reduce the generation of lipid peroxidation product. Mechanism analysis further showed that Nrf-2 signaling, but not GPX-4 and FSP-1 signaling, was upregulated, and reduced the lipid peroxidation. Our results revealed that in the BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis, high level of lipid peroxidation product was significantly accumulation in the lung tissues, which might lead to the occurrence of ferroptosis. The IL-6 pathway block therapy could inhibit lipid peroxidation product generation in the lung tissues by upregulating the Nrf-2 signaling, and further alleviate the pulmonary fibrosis.

ABSTRACTBovine viral diarrhoea-mucosal disease caused by bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) is a major infectious disease that affects the cattle industry. The nonstructural protein Npro of BVDV antagonizes the type I interferon (IFN-I) pathway, thereby escaping the host immune response. The exact mechanism by which Npro uses host proteins to inhibit IFN-I production is unclear. The host protein CALCOCO2 was identified as a binding partner of Npro using a yeast two-hybrid screen. The interaction between Npro and CALCOCO2 was confirmed by yeast co-transformation, co-immunoprecipitation assays, and GST pull-down assays. The stable overexpression of CALCOCO2 markedly promoted BVDV propagation, while the knockdown of CALCOCO2 significantly inhibited BVDV replication in MDBK cells. Interestingly, CALCOCO2 inhibited IFN-I and IFN-stimulated gene production in BVDV-infected cells. Ectopic expression of CALCOCO2 effectively reduced IRF3 protein levels via the proteasome pathway. CALCOCO2 was found to promote Npro-mediated ubiquitination degradation of IRF3 by interacting with IRF3. Our results demonstrate the molecular mechanism by which Npro recruits the CALCOCO2 protein to regulate IRF3 degradation to inhibit IFN-I production.

Abstract Magnetosheath jets with enhanced dynamic pressure are common in the Earth's magnetosheath. They can impact the magnetopause, causing deformation of the magnetopause. Here we investigate the 3‐D structure of magnetosheath jets using a realistic‐scale, 3‐D global hybrid simulation. The magnetosheath has an overall honeycomb‐like 3‐D structure, where the magnetosheath jets with increased dynamic pressure surround the regions of decreased dynamic pressure resembling honeycomb cells. The magnetosheath jets downstream of the bow shock region with θBn ≲ 20° (where θBn is the angle between the upstream magnetic field and the shock normal) propagate approximately along the normal direction of the magnetopause, while those downstream of the bow shock region with θBn ≳ 20° propagate almost tangential to the magnetopause. Therefore, some magnetosheath jets formed at the quasi‐parallel shock region can propagate to the magnetosheath downstream of the quasi‐perpendicular shock region.

Marine water resources (including seawater and pore-water) provide important information for understanding the marine environment, studying marine organisms, and developing marine resources. Obtaining high-quality marine water samples is significant to marine scientific research and monitoring of marine resources. Since the 20th century, marine water resources sampling technology has become the key research direction of marine equipment. In order to have a comprehensive understanding of marine water resource sampling technology, promote the development of marine water resource sampling technology, and obtain high-quality marine water samples, this paper summarizes the current development status of the sampling technology of marine water resources from the aspects of research and application. This paper first provides an overview of seawater and pore water sampling techniques. The two sampling technologies are categorized and discussed according to different sampling means, and the advantages of different sampling means are compared. We also found similarities between seawater and pore water sampling means. Then, a comprehensive analysis of existing technologies and equipment reveals the development trend of marine water resources sampling technology, for example, the need for high temporal and spatial accuracy in sampling, etc. Finally, it explores the challenges facing deep-sea water sampling technology regarding future research, development and equipment industrialization. These reviews not only help researchers better understand the current development of marine water sampling technologies but also provide an important reference for the future development of marine water sampling technology, which provides guidance and support for in-depth marine scientific research and effective use of marine resources.
