1. Non-Hermitian Hamiltonian Approach for Two-Dimensional Spectroscopy

Abstract

Two-dimensional spectroscopy (2DS) offers significant advantages in terms of high temporal and frequency resolutions and signal-to-noise ratio. Until now, the response-function (RF) formalism has been the prevalent theoretical description. In this study, we compare the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian (NHH) method with the RF formalism in a three-level system with a constant control field. We obtain the signals from both approaches and compare their population dynamics and 2DS. We propose the quasi-Green function for the NHH method, which allows all possible Liouville paths to be inferred. Although the NHH method overestimates relaxations, it also provides a more comprehensive description. Our results demonstrate that the NHH method is more suitable than the RF formalism for investigating the systems that are either dissipative or complex via the 2DS.

2. Anomalously reduced homogeneous broadening of two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy at high temperature by detailed balance

Abstract

Dissipation and decoherence of quantum systems in thermal environments is important to various spectroscopies. It is generally believed that dissipation can broaden the line shape of spectroscopies, and thus stronger system-bath interaction can result in more significant homogeneous broadening of two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES). Here we show that the case can be the opposite in the regime of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). We predict that assisted by EIT, the homogeneous broadening of the 2DES at a higher temperature can be significantly reduced due to the detailed balance. This anomalous effect is due to the long-lasting off-diagonal peaks in 2DES., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

Abstract

Abstract: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of zinc-containing proteases that participate in many physiological and pathological processes in vivo. Recently, the MMP network has been established according to a deeper understanding of its functions. Some MMPs have been also regarded as biomarkers of various diseases, including inflammation, nerve diseases, and cancers. MMP labelling has been thus paid more attention in recent decades. Accordingly, both reagents and technologies for MMP labelling have been rapidly developed. Here we summarize the recent development of some MMP labelling methods. This review was identified through keyword (MMPs; labelling; etc.) searches in the ScienceDirect database, Scifinder, Web of Science, and PubMed for which typical cases were used for an inductive overview. In spite of the advances in MMP labelling, selective labelling of a specific MMP is still an open issue. We hope that this article can be helpful in developing specific MMP labelling methods in future.

Aβ2,β3-homoproline derivative, (2S, 2′S)-3-phenyl-2-(pyrrolidin-2′-yl)propionic acid, was synthesized starting from l-proline. After preparation of the (4S, 4aS)-4-benzyl-4a,5,6,7-tetrahydro-pyrrolo-[1,2-c]pyrimidine-1,3-dione under a mild condition, the absolute configuration of target compound was assigned using 2D H-H COSY and H-H NOESY technologies.
