Purpose: Postoperative hemorrhage (PPH) is a severe complication of pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) with a mortality rate of 5–20.2% and mortality due to hemorrhage of 11–58%. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) has been widely recommended for PPH, however, TAE with N-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBCA) for PPH treatment has been reported rarely. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of TAE with NBCA for PPH treatment following PD. Methods: This retrospective study included 14 male patients (mean age, 60.93 ± 10.97 years) with postoperative hemorrhage following PD treated with TAE using NBCA as the main embolic agent from October 2019 to February 2022. The clinical data, technical and success rate, and complications were analyzed. Results: Among the 14 patients who underwent TAE, the technical and clinical success rates were 100 and 85.71%, respectively. Angiography revealed contrast extravasation in 12 cases and a pseudoaneurysm in 3 cases. One patient developed a serious infection and died 2 days after the TAE. Conclusion: TAE with NBCA for PPH treatment following PD, especially for massive hemorrhage caused by a pancreatic fistula, biliary fistula, or inflammatory corrosion, can result in rapid and effective hemostasis with high safety. Potassium-solubilizing microorganisms are capable of secreting acidic chemicals that dissolve and release potassium from soil minerals, thus facilitating potassium uptake by plants. In this study, three potassium-dissolving filamentous fungi were isolated from the rhizosphere soil of a poplar plantation in Jiangsu Province, China. Phylogenetic analyses based on ITS, 18 S, and 28 S showed that these three isolates were most similar to Mortierella. These strains also possessed spherical or ellipsoidal spores, produced sporangia at the hyphal tip, and formed petal-like colonies on PDA media resembling those of Mortierella species. These findings, along with further phenotypic observations, suggest that these isolates were Mortierella species. In addition, the potassium-dissolution experiment showed that strain 2K4 had a relatively high potassium-solubilizing capacity among these isolated fungi. By investigating the influences of different nutrient conditions (carbon source, nitrogen source, and inorganic salt) and initial pH values on the potassium-dissolving ability, the optimal potassium-solubilization conditions of the isolate were determined. When potassium feldspar powder was used as an insoluble potassium source, isolate 2K4 exhibited a significantly better polysaccharide aggregation ability on the formed mycelium–potassium feldspar complex. The composition and content of organic acids secreted by strain 2K4 were further detected, and the potassium-dissolution mechanism of the Mortierella species and its growth promotion effect were discussed, using maize as an example. Inflammation is much more intrinsic to hernia then is what is generally appreciated. The occurrence of hernias is associated with swelling, stress and inflammation. Surgery remains an important intervention to treat hernias and for many years, post-surgical levels of inflammatory cytokines have been evaluated to compare the different strategies for their comparative advantages. All surgical procedures elicit some sort of inflammatory response and moreover the meshes used for hernia repair are also associated with elevated inflammatory response, although some favor predominantly a pro-inflammatory response while the other meshes favor anti-inflammatory response. An estimated more than 90% of hernia repairs involve some meshes with polypropylene considered as the gold standard. Efforts are underway to modulate polypropylene meshes associated inflammation through use of alternative materials as well as modifications to polypropylene meshes themselves. In the last one decade, miRNAs have entered hernia research and the data on a role of miRNAs in different hernias is slowly emerging, providing the first evidence of epigenetics in hernia. Some reports are connecting miRNAs with inflammation in hernia. All these aspects, such as, surgery-related to mesh-related inflammation as well as miRNA-related inflammation, are discussed in this article to present an up-to-date information on the topic. Relay protection equipment (RPE) is a type of automation equipment aiming to protect power systems from further damage caused by local faults. It is thus important to ensure the normal operation of RPE. As the power density of electronic components continuously increases, the overheating problem of RPE cannot be neglected. Given the difficulties in implementing direct measurement and predicting development trends of RPE temperature, a novel hotspot temperature monitoring method for RPE was proposed, which is a data-driven method. The generative adversarial network, aided by a physical model, is used to address small samples. Afterwards, a stacked ensemble model established based on random forests was used to predict the hotspot temperature of the RPE. Experiment results show that the proposed method can effectively predict hotspot temperature of RPE with the predictive error lower than 2%. Stem cell therapy holds great promise for future clinical practice for treatment of advanced liver diseases. However, the fate of stem cells after transplantation, including the distribution, viability, and the cell clearance, has not been fully elucidated. Herein, recent advances regarding the imaging tools for stem cells tracking mainly in chronic liver diseases with the advantages and disadvantages of each approach have been described. Magnetic resonance imaging is a promising clinical imaging modality due to non-radioactivity, excellent penetrability, and high spatial resolution. Fluorescence imaging and radionuclide imaging demonstrate relatively increased sensitivity, with the latter excelling in real-time monitoring. Reporter genes specialize in long-term tracing. Nevertheless, the disadvantages of low sensitivity, radiation, exogenous gene risk are inevitably present in each of these means, respectively. In this review, we aim to comprehensively evaluate the current state of methods for tracking of stem cell, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, and providing insights into their future potential. Multimodality imaging strategies may overcome the inherent limitations of single-modality imaging by combining the strengths of different imaging techniques to provide more comprehensive information in the clinical setting. This paper presents a miniaturized broadband microstrip patch antenna with a simple geometry. The radiation patch of this antenna comprises two rectangular patches with slightly different sizes, one side of each patch is grounded by metal via‐holes. Two rectangular patches are connected by a microstrip line and fed by a single port. Two rectangular patches produce two closely resonant frequencies achieving broadband performance. This antenna operates on the resonant method of short‐circuiting on one side. Metal via‐holes act as a short‐circuit wall allowing each patch to operate in TM0.5,0 mode. The size of a 1/4 wavelength resonant patch is only half of a conventional microstrip antenna, the overall size of this antenna is almost as same as a conventional rectangular microstrip antenna, making it compact in size. The wideband is achieved by combining two radiating patches, resulting in stable radiation and flat gain. Measurement results show that the antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 4.35− $-$5.10 GHz (15.8%) using a common dielectric substrate without air layer thickness additionally. Protective relays play a fundamental role in power systems, whose functions consist of three parts, namely protection, automation, and control, thus called the PAC altogether. It turns out that the architecture of a PACS (protection, automation, and control system) may exert a direct impact on the reliability of protective relay systems, previous studies of which are often conducted on the assumption that intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) have a constant fault rate with only mission reliability of the systems considered. To obtain a more accurate evaluation of system reliability bearing system maintenance in mind, this article proposes a novel method to appraise the reliability of PACSs with integrated consideration of basic and mission reliability. Firstly, the basic reliability of IEDs is calculated by parts count prediction, which will provide a more precise fault rate of IEDs. Secondly, the reliability of PACSs is analyzed by the reliability diagram and Markov model. By using the parts count prediction method to calculate the failure rate of the device, the steady-state probability rate will be accurate more than 0.0107%. Individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) have been reported to show abnormal brain metabolism and impaired coupling among brain networks such as the default mode network (DMN), salience network (SN), and executive control network (ECN). However, the characteristics of brain glucose metabolism and its related functions in the brain networks in individuals with OUD remain unknown. Thirty-six individuals with OUD and thirty matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited in this integrated positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) study. Differences in glucose metabolism were analyzed by using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG), and the corresponding coupling characteristics of the individuals with OUD were also analyzed. The individuals with OUD showed widespread bilateral hypometabolism in the middle temporal gyrus (MTG), superior temporal gyrus, angular gyrus, supramarginal gyrus, inferior parietal lobe, Rolandic operculum, and left insula, but obvious hypermetabolism in the brainstem and left cerebellum. Meanwhile, in individuals with OUD, the hypometabolism of right MTG which is included in the DMN was accompanied by decreased coupling with the left superior frontal gyrus and right superior parietal gyrus which are included in the ECN. Furthermore, individuals with OUD showed a positive correlation between the duration of heroin use and glucose metabolism of the left MTG. The individuals with OUD were characterized by widespread bilateral hypometabolism in the temporal and parietal regions but obvious hypermetabolism in the brainstem and left cerebellum. The results suggest that the hypometabolism in the temporal and parietal regions might be related to DMN dysfunction and the hypermetabolism in the brainstem and left cerebellum may be compensate for other brain regions showing hypometabolism. In particular, hypometabolism in the self-referential-related DMN regions in OUD might attenuate their relationships with the inhibitory-control-related ECN regions. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a concerning liver cancer with rising incidence and mortality rates worldwide. The effectiveness of traditional therapies in managing advanced HCC is limited, necessitating the development of new therapeutic strategies. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have emerged as a promising strategy for HCC management. By preventing tumor cells from evading immune surveillance through immunological checkpoints, ICIs can restore the immune system's ability to target and eliminate tumors. While ICIs show promise in enhancing the immune response against malignancies, challenges such as drug resistance and adverse reactions hinder their efficacy. To address these challenges, developing individualized ICI treatment strategies is critical. Combining targeted therapy and immunotherapy holds the potential for comprehensive therapeutic effects. Additionally, biomarker-based individualized ICI treatment strategies offer promise in predicting treatment response and guiding personalized patient care. Future research should explore emerging ICI treatment methods to optimize HCC immunotherapy. This review provides an overview of ICIs as a new treatment for HCC, demonstrating some success in promoting the tumor immune response. However, drug resistance and adverse reactions remain important considerations that must be addressed. This paper proposes a novel voltage estimation scheme for the modular multilevel converter (MMC) based on model predictive control (MPC). The developed strategy is presented by combining a disturbance observer (DOB) with an adaptive neural network (ANN) for voltage estimation in the MMC. Firstly, the ac-side and dc bus voltages are estimated as the disturbance items of the DOB which acts as the cost function during each control cycle and ensures the minimal computational cost. Then, the submodule (SM) capacitor voltage estimation is achieved based on the ANN with the estimated ac-side and dc bus voltages. The proposed method requires only one current sensor per arm and has a simple structure with three weights to be adjusted. Comprehensive simulation studies and experiments are presented to demonstrate its effectiveness and feasibility. Objective. Non-primary radiation doses to normal tissues from proton therapy may be associated with an increased risk of secondary malignancies, particularly in long-term survivors. Thus, a systematic method to evaluate if the dose level of non-primary radiation meets the IEC standard requirements is needed. Approach. Different from the traditional photon radiation therapy system, proton therapy systems are composed of several subsystems in a thick bunker. These subsystems are all possible sources of non-primary radiation threatening the patient. As a case study, 7 sources in the P-Cure synchrotron-based proton therapy system are modeled in Monte Carlo (MC) code: tandem injector, injection, synchrotron ring, extraction, beam transport line, scanning nozzle and concrete reflection/scattering. To accurately evaluate the synchrotron beam loss and non-primary dose, a new model called the torus source model is developed. Its parametric equations define the position and direction of the off-orbit particle bombardment on the torus pipe shell in the Cartesian coordinate system. Non-primary doses are finally calculated by several FLUKA simulations. Main results. The ratios of summarized non-primary doses from different sources to the planned dose of 2 Gy are all much smaller than the IEC requirements in both the 15–50 cm and 50–200 cm regions. Thus, the P-Cure synchrotron-based proton therapy system is clean and patient-friendly, and there is no need an inner shielding concrete between the accelerator and patient. Significance. Non-primary radiation dose level is a very important indicator to evaluate the quality of a PT system. This manuscript provides a feasible MC procedure for synchrotron-based proton therapy with new beam loss model. Which could help people figure out precisely whether this level complies with the IEC standard before the system put into clinical treatment. Domestication caused significant differences in morphology and behavior between wild and domestic pigs. However, the regulatory role of circRNA in this event is unclear. Here, we analyzed circRNA expression patterns in the prefrontal cortices of wild boar and domestic pigs to determine the potential role of circRNAs in domestication. We identified a total of 11,375 circRNAs and found that 349 and 354 circRNAs were up-regulated in wild boar and Rongchang pig, respectively. Functional enrichment analysis showed that host genes of significantly highly-expressed circRNAs in wild boar were significantly enriched in neural synapse-related categories and the categories of 'regulation of defense response (p = 0.028)' and 'neural retina development (p = 4.32 × 10−3)'. Host genes of significantly highly-expressed circRNAs in Rongchang pig were specifically involved in 'chordate embryonic development (p = 2.38 × 10−4)'. Additionally, we constructed circRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory axes in wild boar and Rongchang pig and found more regulatory axes in wild boar that potentially regulate synaptic activities. We identified multiple circRNAs that may be related to domesticated characteristics, such as ssc_circ_6179 (ssc_circ_6179—ssc-miR-9847—HRH3, related to aggression) and ssc_circ_3027 (ssc_circ_3027—ssc-miR-4334-5p—HCRTR1, related to attention). To obtain single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser output under high power injection conditions, a theoretical model of multi-mode rate equation based on pre-laser Q-switched and a Fabry–Perot (F-P) etalon group is established in this research. The simulation results show that with the combination of three F-P etalons, not only can the spectral linewidth be initially narrowed, but the transmission loss difference between adjacent longitudinal modes can also be further adjusted. Therefore, the longitudinal mode selection ability of the pre-laser Q-switch under high-power energy injection is effectively enhanced. In the experiment, dynamic modeling is used as a key parameter guide. The final stable output 639.7 nm Pr:YLF SLM laser was obtained. The upper limit of pump absorption was effectively increased by 57%, the single pulse energy was increased by 56%, and the linewidth was compressed to 14 MHz. The development of highly efficient and environmentally friendly solvents for dissolving cellulose, which is the most abundant natural polymer on Earth, remains a challenge, hindering its full utilization. Herein, a green protic ionic liquid, 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidinium methoxyacetate ([TMGH][MAA]), was found to exhibit attractive capacity to dissolve natural cellulose with an appropriate TMG/MAA molar ratio of 7 : 3 at 80 °C. The solubility of cotton linter and ultra-high molecular weight cotton fibers reached 13% (w/w) and 3% (w/w), respectively, surpassing that of most solvent systems currently used for the dissolution of cellulose. The experimental and simulation results verified that the excellent dissolution ability of [TMGH][MAA] for cellulose is mainly attributed to the destruction of the intrinsic hydrogen-bond networks in cellulose by the synergistic interactions of the [TMGH] cations and [MAA] anions with the hydroxyl groups in the cellulose chains, acting as highly efficient "intermolecular scissors". The superiority of this novel dissolution system was further demonstrated by the remarkable comprehensive properties of the regenerated cellulose film including satisfactory thermostability, high transparency, and excellent mechanical properties. Furthermore, the satisfactory recovery performance of this solvent highlights its significant feasibility for large-scale industrial manufacturing. The sulfa-Michael/aldol cascade reaction of (Z)-2-(arylmethylene)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazol-3(2H)-ones and 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol afforded novel 2'-aryl-4'-hydroxy-4',5,5',6-tetrahydro-2'H,3H-spiro[imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-2,3'-thiophen]-3-ones in moderate yields. Background: Studying the composition and developmental mechanisms in mammary gland is crucial for healthy growth of newborns. The mammary gland is inherently heterogeneous, and its physiological function dependents on the gene expression of multiple cell types. Most studies focused on epithelial cells, disregarding the role of neighboring adipocytes. Results: Here, we constructed the largest transcriptomic dataset of porcine mammary gland cells thus far. The dataset captured 126,829 high-quality nuclei from physiological mammary glands across five developmental stages (d 90 of gestation, G90; d 0 after lactation, L0; d 20 after lactation, L20; 2 d post natural involution, PI2; 7 d post natural involution, PI7). Seven cell types were identified, including epithelial cells, adipocytes, endothelial cells, fibroblasts cells, immune cells, myoepithelial cells and precursor cells. Our data indicate that mammary glands at different developmental stages have distinct phenotypic and transcriptional signatures. During late gestation (G90), the differentiation and proliferation of adipocytes were inhibited. Meanwhile, partly epithelial cells were completely differentiated. Pseudo-time analysis showed that epithelial cells undergo three stages to achieve lactation, including cellular differentiation, hormone sensing, and metabolic activation. During lactation (L0 and L20), adipocytes area accounts for less than 0.5% of mammary glands. To maintain their own survival, the adipocyte exhibited a poorly differentiated state and a proliferative capacity. Epithelial cells initiate lactation upon hormonal stimulation. After fulfilling lactation mission, their undergo physiological death under high intensity lactation. Interestingly, the physiological dead cells seem to be actively cleared by immune cells via CCL21-ACKR4 pathway. This biological process may be an important mechanism for maintaining homeostasis of the mammary gland. During natural involution (PI2 and PI7), epithelial cell populations dedifferentiate into mesenchymal stem cells to maintain the lactation potential of mammary glands for the next lactation cycle. Conclusion: The molecular mechanisms of dedifferentiation, proliferation and redifferentiation of adipocytes and epithelial cells were revealed from late pregnancy to natural involution. The microecology of endophytic fungi in special habitats, such as the interior of different tissues from a medicinal plant, and its effects on the formation of metabolites with different biological activities are of great importance. However, the factors affecting fungal community formation are unclear. This study is the first to utilize "mini-community" remodeling to understand the above phenomena. First, high-throughput sequencing technology was applied to explore the community composition and diversity of endophytic fungi in the above-ground tissues (Ea) and below-ground tissues (Eb) of Ephedra sinica. Second, fungi were obtained through culture-dependent technology and used for "mini-community" remodeling in vitro. Then, the effects of environmental factors, partner fungi, and plant tissue fluid (internal environment) on endophytic fungal community formation were discussed. Results showed that environmental factors played a decisive role in the selection of endophytic fungi, that is, in Ea and Eb, 93.8% and 25.3% of endophytic fungi were halophilic, respectively, and 10.6% and 60.2% fungi were sensitive to high temperature (33 °C), respectively. Although the interactions between traffic flow and epidemic spread dynamics have been extensively studied, the impact of routing strategies on the susceptible–infected–recovered (SIR) epidemic spread driven by traffic flow have not received enough attention. In this paper, the traffic-driven SIR epidemic spread model under the probability path routing strategy and the efficient path routing strategy are studied. The instantaneous scale I p of the infected nodes’ density and the final scale R e of the ever infected nodes’ density are obtained through simulation, and it is found that there exist optimal values of routing parameters to minimise I p and R e , what is more, I p and R e under the probability path routing strategy are smaller than the values under the efficient path routing strategy. This means that the epidemic spreading can be effectively controlled by adjusting the routing strategy. In addition, when the routing parameter is the optimal value, the influence of packet generation rates, infection rates and cure rates on the epidemic spreading under different routing strategies is further discussed, and it is found that the higher the cure rate, the fewer nodes will be infected. Infected nodes’ density increases as the infection rate and packet generation rate increase, thereby accelerating epidemic spreading. Simple Summary: The size of an organism's organs not only relates to its body size and physiological function, but also offers important evidence of its adaptation to environmental changes. This study specifically investigated the geographical variation in organ size within the Asian common toad (Duttaphrynus melanostictus). Our findings revealed significant differences in the relative sizes of nine selected organs among various populations. Furthermore, we examined the effects of the geographical gradient on organ size, uncovering a positive correlation between the relative size of the testes and altitude and/or latitude. Adaptive evolution is the process by which organisms change their morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics to adapt to different environments during long-term natural selection. Especially, researching variation in organ size can provide important insights into morphological adaptation in amphibians. In this study, we comparatively studied differences in organ sizes (heart, lungs, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, digestive tract, testes and brain) among five geographical populations of the Asian common toad Duttaphrynus melanostictus. Our results revealed significant variations in the size of these nine specific organs among the populations. Notably, we observed a significant positive correlation between the relative size of the testes and latitude and/or altitude. However, no correlation was found between the relative size of the heart and the length of the digestive tract with altitude across populations, respectively, contradicting Hesse's rule and the digestion theory. These findings suggest that our study does not provide substantial theoretical support for the adaptive evolution of organ size in this particular toad species, but rather contributes to the understanding of the evolution and adaptations of species' different environmental conditions. Background: The bridging integrator 1 (BIN1) protein was originally identified as a pro-apoptotic tumor suppressor that binds to and inhibits oncogenic MYC transcription factors. BIN1 has complex physiological functions participating in endocytosis, membrane cycling, cytoskeletal regulation, DNA repair deficiency, cell-cycle arrest, and apoptosis. The expression of BIN1 is closely related to the development of various diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, myopathy, heart failure, and inflammation. Purpose: Because BIN1 is commonly expressed in terminally differentiated normal tissues and is usually undetectable in refractory or metastatic cancer tissues, this differential expression has led us to focus on human cancers associated with BIN1. In this review, we discuss the potential pathological mechanisms of BIN1 during cancer development and its feasibility as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target for related diseases based on recent findings on its molecular, cellular, and physiological roles. Conclusion: BIN1 is a tumor suppressor that regulates cancer development through a series of signals in tumor progression and microenvironment. Microalgae have the ability to remove emerging contaminants (ECs) from wastewater and to recover resources, but this is limited by oxidative damage caused by the contaminants. Recently, phytohormones have been found to improve the tolerance of microalgae under oxidative stress, to promote the removal of ECs, and to enhance the synthesis of metabolites. Ammonia (NH3) is a highly important industrial chemical used as fuel and fertilizer. The industrial synthesis of NH3 relies heavily on the Haber–Bosch route, which accounts for roughly 1.2% of global annual CO2 emissions. As an alternative route, the electrosynthesis of NH3 from nitrate anion (NO3−) reduction (NO3−RR) has drawn increasing attention, since NO3−RR from wastewater to produce NH3 can not only recycle waste into treasure but also alleviate the adverse effects of excessive NO3− contamination in the environment. This review presents contemporary views on the state of the art in electrocatalytic NO3− reduction over Cu-based nanostructured materials, discusses the merits of electrocatalytic performance, and summarizes current advances in the exploration of this technology using different strategies for nanostructured-material modification. Low density polyethylene (LDPE) has been widely used commercially for decades; however, as a non-degradable material, its continuous accumulation has contributed to serious environmental issues. A fungal strain, Cladosporium sp. CPEF-6 exhibiting a significant growth advantage on MSM-LDPE (minimal salt medium), was isolated and selected for biodegradation analysis. LDPE biodegradation was analyzed by weight loss percent, change in pH during fungal growth, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Inoculation with the strain Cladosporium sp. CPEF-6 resulted in a 0.30 ± 0.06% decrease in the weight of untreated LDPE (U-LDPE). After heat treatment (T-LDPE), the weight loss of LDPE increased significantly and reached 0.43 ± 0.01% after 30 days of culture. The pH of the medium was measured during LDPE degradation to assess the environmental changes caused by enzymes and organic acids secreted by the fungus. The fungal degradation of LDPE sheets was characterized by ESEM analysis of topographical alterations, such as cracks, pits, voids, and roughness. FTIR analysis of U-LDPE and T-LDPE revealed the appearance of novel functional groups associated with hydrocarbon biodegradation as well as changes in the polymer carbon chain, confirming the depolymerization of LDPE. This is the first report demonstrating the capacity of Cladosporium sp. to degrade LDPE, with the expectation that this finding can be used to ameliorate the negative impact of plastics on the environment. The patterns of isolation by distance (IBD) entailing increased genetic differentiation among populations have aroused extensive concerns for evolutionary biologists. Although the IBD may act on spatial processes contributing to the genetic differentiation among populations in anuran species, the factors shaping the IBD of frogs among populations in natural systems are largely unknown. Here, we studied the genetic differentiation among six populations with 24 individuals of the spotted‐leg treefrog along a latitudinal gradient (1860.31 km) based on 1020 single nucleotide polymorphisms from restriction site‐associated DNA sequencing. The results showed that the genetic diversity differed significantly among populations and that the insular populations had higher genetic diversity than the mainland populations. Furthermore, we also found a significant genetic differentiation among populations (FST = 0.277) and no sign of inbreeding (FUNI = −0.145). The IBD was detected for all populations, and a higher degree of the IBD was indicated when controlling for the effects of the isolation between Hainan and mainland populations caused by the Qiongzhou Strait. Our findings suggest that the form of the Qiongzhou Strait plays a key role in shaping the genetic diversity and population differentiation in treefrogs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Redundant manipulators have been investigated and employed in various fields, and its trajectory tracking is of much importance in the field of robotic control. In this article, a model predictive control (MPC) scheme for the trajectory tracking of redundant manipulators is constructed, which minimizes the tracking error, velocity norm, and acceleration norm simultaneously. The commonly used trajectory tracking schemes for redundant manipulators, such as the minimum-velocity-norm scheme and minimum-acceleration-norm scheme, handle joint limits at different levels by introducing additional parameters, which reduces the feasible region of decision variables. In contrast, the proposed scheme directly considers these limits at three different levels, without reducing the feasible region of decision variables. In addition, to compensate for the deficiencies of most existing algorithms in noise environments, an error-summation enhanced Newton (ESEN) algorithm is proposed for solving the MPC scheme. Through theoretical analysis, it is determined that the proposed ESEN algorithm has a small steady-state error under noise conditions. Finally, in contrast with the comparative trajectory tracking schemes, as determined through computer simulations and experiments, the proposed MPC scheme solved by the ESEN algorithm not only enables the redundant manipulator to perform the trajectory tracking task in excellent fashion, but also offers advantages of high efficiency, fast responsiveness, and strong noise tolerance. Functional traits impact species interactions, community composition, and ecosystem functioning. However, few studies have focused on the diversification and phylogenetic correlation of multiple functional traits over geological time. We conducted phylogenetic comparative analysis for boreal forest understory species in northeast China to examine the diversification and phylogenetic correlation in several functional traits: leaf area (LA), leaf carbon content (LCC), leaf dry matter content (LDMC), leaf nitrogen content (LNC), plant height (PH), and specific leaf area (SLA). Phylogenetic signals showed that there were very low levels of phylogenetic niche conservatism (PNC) in understory leaf‐related traits and plant height, suggesting divergence of functional traits for the co‐occurring understory species. The disparity through time analyses (DTT) indicated that trait disparities mainly originated during recent divergence events and there were no differences in the observed trait disparities compared with that expected under Brownian motion. Furthermore, we found both positive and negative phylogenetic correlations among the measured functional traits. The very low levels of PNC suggest that these functional traits diverged among co‐occurring understory species, and that those species are distantly phylogenetically related. The phylogenetic correlations among traits may be caused by both positively and negatively correlated adaptions that correspond to resource acquisition strategies. A broadside direction gain-enhanced low-cost dual-polarized microstrip patch antenna has been presented. The proposed antenna consists of a slot-loaded cross-shaped patch and shorting pins. The orthogonal polarized radiating elements works in TM05 and TM12, meanwhile slot-loaded excite TM01. The equivalent magnetic currents (EMCs) amplitude, frequency, and flow direction of the TM12 are controlled by shorting pins to form the broadside gain enhancement. The superposition of them can enhance the gain in the broadside direction. The proposed antenna is coaxial feed. The substrate is divided into two layers: air and FR4. A copper column is added to the air layer to greatly improve the polarized isolation of the antenna. The size of the proposed antenna is 2.29λ0×2.29λ0×0.069λ0 (λ0 is the wavelength of free space at the central frequency). The simulated maximum realized gain is 12.59 dB, and the realized gain is better than 11.53 dB in operating band. The measured maximum realized gain is 12.05 dB, and the realized gain is better than 10.04 dB. In this study, a novel in-situ synthesis of monoclinic phase of titanium dioxide (TiO 2 (B)) in cellulose-derived carbon aerogel (TCA) is proposed for processing multi-task in water treatment. The homogeneous gelation reaction supported the high dispersion of TiO 2 (B) in carbon skeleton. Meanwhile, TiO 2 acts as crosslinker to reinforce cellulose network, then the grain refinement of amorphous TiO 2 is limited to obtain TiO 2 (B) during carbonization. Benefiting from the reinforced structure, TCA remains the porous structure after carbonization and exposes more adsorption site than carbon aerogel blended with anatase particles (ACA). The adsorption performance of TCA are 837.3 mg/g, 1156.2 mg/g and 512.6 mg/g on methylene blue, malachite green and crystal violet, respectively. Compared with ACA, the superior interaction between TiO 2 and graphite-like carbon improves the degradation rate of tetracycline from 1.3 × 10–3 min−1 to 8.6 × 10–3 min−1, and maintains the degradation efficiency in 3 rounds cyclic test. Besides, TCA also exhibits nearly twice to ACA on absorption capacity of different oil. An enantioselective intramolecular heterocyclization with in situ generated 3-hydroxyisoindolinone-derived N -acyliminium ions has been successfully accomplished. In the presence of a catalytic amount of a chiral phosphoric acid, functionalized 3,3-disubstituted isoindolinones bearing N -acyl- N , O -acetal moieties were obtained with good yields and a high level of stereocontrol (up to 98:2 er). Background: Previous studies, predominantly in Western individuals, have reported weight gain or weight loss are related to the increased depressive symptoms at all ages, but no study of depressive symptoms has examined its relation to actual (not just self-reported) weight changes in the middle-aged and older adults. Evidence of the relationship in older Asian individuals remains sparse. The study aimed to examine the relationship between weight changes and incidence of depressive symptoms in a nationally representative sample of community-dwelling older Asians. Method: Data were obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), which included 17,284 adults aged 45 years. Participants were followed every two years using a face-to-face, computer-aided personal interview (CAPI) and structured questionnaire. We excluded participants with no follow-up data. The numbers of individuals who completed both the baseline and follow-up surveys were 3118 for the short-term (two years from 2011–2013) and the long-term (four years from 2011–2015). Additionally, to associate weight change with subsequent depressive symptoms, we also included 2472 participants without depressive symptom in 2013 and observed the incidence of depressive symptom in 2015 (subsequent term from 2013–2015). Finally, weight changes were classified as loss > -3%, stable-3–3%, gain3-6%, gain6-9%, and gain > 9%. Multivariable-adjusted cox regression in the study were used to assess the hazard ratios (HRs) of each weight change category. Results: The incidence of depressive symptoms was 20.72% in the 2011–2013, 27.04% in the 2011–2015, and 23.02% in 2013–2015. Weight loss > 3% for all intervals was associated with higher depressive symptoms than stable weight during the 2011–2013 [1.305(1.031,1.651)] among the total populations. When stratified by sex, the results in males and females were different from those in the total population [females:1.389(0.997, 1.935); males:1.263(0.902, 1.767)]. Weight loss > 3% for intervals was associated with higher depressive symptoms than stable weight during the 2013–2015[1.643(1.140, 2.368)] among the males and its effect was also stronger for the total in 2011–2013. Moreover, there was no significant association between weight gain and incident depressive symptom, and no significant interaction effect in terms of the sex*weight changes. Conclusion: Our findings could inform health promotion interventions to body-weight management aimed at improving the health of the middle-aged and older adults, particularly in the total people with short-term weight loss and males with subsequent term weight loss. Background and Purpose: For patients with pulsatile tinnitus who have both transverse sinus stenosis and sigmoid sinus wall anomalies, sigmoid sinus wall reconstruction surgery is the first-choice treatment when the trans-stenotic pressure gradient less than 10 mmHg. However, not all patients are cured by surgery. We hypothesized the abnormal hemodynamics caused by transverse sinus stenosis is associated with the clinical efficacy of surgery. Methods: Eight pulsatile tinnitus patients treated with surgery were retrospectively reviewed (4 rehabilitated, 4 nonrehabilitated). All patients had radiologically diagnosed transverse sinus stenosis and sigmoid sinus wall anomalies. A numerical simulation of the hemodynamics of the transverse sinus-sigmoid sinus was performed using computational fluid dynamics technology. Changes in the blood flow patterns before and after surgery were observed. The blood flow velocity at the stenosis, vorticity of blood flow in the sigmoid sinus and wall pressure distribution in the sigmoid sinus wall anomalies area were compared. Results: The blood flow velocity in the stenosis (preoperative P = 0.04, postoperative P = 0.004) and vorticity in the sigmoid sinus (preoperative P = 0.02, postoperative P = 0.007) pre- and post-surgery were significantly higher in the non-rehabilitation group than in the rehabilitation group. No significant difference was found in the wall pressure distribution in the sigmoid sinus wall anomalies area (preoperative P = 0.12, postoperative P = 0.24). Conclusions: There is a clear correlation between the abnormal hemodynamic status caused by transverse sinus stenosis and the clinical efficacy of surgery. Aim: Amphibians require both terrestrial and aquatic environments to complete their life cycles. Thus, they are subject to complex selection pressures stemming from different environments, and these selection pressures are likely to vary geographically with variation in temperature and precipitation. Studies of genetic differentiation along geographical clines allow identification of footprints of these selection pressures. Location: China. Methods: To identify possible signatures of local adaptation to particular environmental conditions, we conducted a genome‐scan with 20,572 single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) obtained with restriction site‐associated DNA sequencing of pooled samples from 10 Microhyla fissipes populations spanning a 1,398 km long latitudinal gradient in China. Results: The results revealed significant genetic differentiation among populations (FST =0.090). Numerous outlier SNPs associated with variation in both annual average temperature (n = 69) and precipitation (n = 248) were detected. Main conclusions: The degree and pattern of population differentiation in the SNPs supported the hypothesis that these SNPs have been subject to directional natural selection associated with temperature and precipitation and, hence, are reflective of geographically varying local adaptation. A four‐channel directly modulated square‐rectangular laser array was demonstrated in 1.3 μm wavelength range with the wavelength interval about 5 nm. The laser array shows stable single mode operation with the side‐mode suppression ratio (SMSR) over 30 dB, 3‐dB modulation bandwidth above 11.8 GHz and an open‐eye diagram is obtained at data rates of 10 Gb/s, and the relative intensity noise (RIN) about −138 dB/Hz up to 5 GHz for all channels. Remedial education is defined as the programmes provided by education institutions to help unprepared students reinforce their basic skills. Recently, the increased access to higher education has caused a higher dropout rate of science and engineering major students, especially when they are academically underprepared for college-level study. Thus, this study proposes a new type of remedial programme which helps students majoring in science-related foundation courses for their follow-up learning. Literature about the effectiveness of remedial education is inconsistent and how this new remedial education program affects students' learning achievement is not well understood. Thus, this study aims to examine how remedial courses change students' attitudes and improve learning performance. Our findings indicate that: (1) remedial education significantly enhances the students' academic achievement; (2) remedial education quality affects students' course satisfaction and achievements through self-efficacy. Introduction: Lymphomatosis cerebri (LC) is a rare variant of primary central nervous system lymphoma that diffusely involves throughout the brain. In recent years, increasingly reported cases have notably broadened the spectrum of clinical and radiological features; however, it remains a great diagnostic challenge.Case Report: We reported an atypical case of LC presented with subacute onset of focal neurological deficits and diffuse T2 hyperintensities without contrast enhancement on magnetic resonance imaging. He was initially considered as inflammatory leukoencephalopathy and received empirical corticosteroids, showing a dramatically clinical response. Three months later, the patient relapsed with deteriorating symptoms and enlarged brain lesions with mass-like enhancement. A diagnosis of LC was finally established according to the radiological and pathological findings.Discussion: Though rare, LC should always be kept as a differential diagnosis of diffuse leukoencephalopathy. Although the smoking rate of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infected people was much higher than that of the general population, smoking cessation interventions have long been ineffective. We aimed to examine the estimates of prevalence, time-trend, and association of smoking among people living with HIV, HBV, or HCV. This cohort was composed of 32,115 individuals from the NHANES database (1999–2018) and they were collected in the US. The time trend analysis of smoking and quitting rates was conducted using different years of survey follow-up and different infected groups. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors related to smoking behavior of these infected people. Compared to non-infected smokers, infected smokers were more likely to be older (aged 30–39, OR = 9.92, CI 6.07–16.21; aged 40–49,OR = 3.51, CI 2.49–4.94), males (1.99, 1.54–2.55), lower education and economic level (1.78, 1.39–2.29; 2.05, 1.59–2.65), unemployed (1.63, 1.21–2.20), suffering depression (1.35, 1.05–1.72), and drug users (7.65, 5.04–11.59). Taken together, our study showed that these complex psychosocial characteristics and unhealthy behavioral factors might be major independent risk factors for increasing smoking rate and decreasing smoking cessation rate among these infected people. Island species and their ecosystems play an important role in global biodiversity preservation, and many vulnerable island species are conservation priorities. Although insular habitat likely facilitates the species diversification process, it may also aggravate the fragility of these species with high risk of inbreeding. The Shedao pit-viper Gloydius shedaoensis is an island endemic species with an extremely high population density, which has been categorized as vulnerable in the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) Red List. We collected 13,148 SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) from across its genome and examined its genetic diversity and demographic history. The Shedao pit-viper has a low genetic diversity but shows no sign of inbreeding. Furthermore, population genetic structure analysis, including the neighbor-joining tree, principal coordinate analysis, clustering, and spatial autocorrelation, revealed a general lack of spatial structure. Only the isolation by distance residues suggested a weak patchiness. Overall, the population is nearly panmictic and gene flow is evenly distributed across the island. A large number of individuals, small size of the island, and the lack of population structure likely all contribute to the lack of inbreeding in this species. We also detected signs of male-biased dispersal, which likely is another inbreeding avoidance strategy. Historical demographic analysis suggested that the historical population size and distribution of the species are much larger than their current ones. The multiple transgressive–regressive events since the Late Pleistocene are likely the main cause of the population size changes. Up to date, the existing methods for nonlinear optimization with time-dependent parameters can be classified into two types: 1) static methods are capable of handling inequality constraints but may generate large lagging errors in the solution of the intrinsically time-dependent constrained nonlinear optimization (TDCNO) problem due to the hypothesis of short-time invariance and 2) time-variant methods, e.g., zeroing neural networks, are able to remedy the lagging error but fail to solve the TDCNO problem under inequality constraints. To resolve this contradiction, a noise-suppressing neural dynamics (NSND) model is proposed to solve the TDCNO problem subject to both equality and inequality constraints via the nonlinear complementary problem (NCP) function. The proposed method allows inequality constraints for unknown variables, removes the short-time invariance hypothesis, and further eliminates lagging errors during the solving process in the presence of noises. Besides, the rapid convergence, global stability, and noise processing of the NSND model are verified by the theoretical analyses. Simulation results of illustrative examples, including dimensionality reduction on principal component analyses (PCA) and a robot motion control, show that the NSND model outperforms the existing models for the TDCNO problem. Rapid and accurate determination of the nutrient contents in wolfberry (Lycium barbarum L.) is of great significance for identifying the quality and origin of the fruit. Compared to traditional chemical analysis methods, hyperspectral remote sensing has the advantages of high speed and low cost. In this study, the dried fruits of wolfberry (cultivar ‘Ningqi No. 7’) taken from the Huinong, Yinchuan, Zhongning, and Tongxin regions of Ningxia, China, in 2020 were selected as samples. Two methods, the variable importance measure (VIM) under random forest and the successive projection algorithm (SPA), were applied to select the hyperspectral characteristic variables. The test set coefficient of determination (R²p), root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP), and relative percent deviation (RPD) for different pre-treatments and characteristic variable selection methods were compared. Finally, the optimal estimation models of partial least squares regression (PLSR) for the contents of eight nutrients in wolfberry were established. The results were as follows: (1) The variation trends of the original hyperspectral reflectance curves of wolfberries from different yield areas and harvest dates were similar, and the spectral characteristic absorption bands were significantly enhanced after first-order differential transformation. (2) After extracting the characteristic bands using SPA, the RPD values were all above 2.0, and the estimation performance was significantly better than that of the full bands. (3) The optimal estimation model for total sugar (TS), crude protein (CP), and Ca was found to be SG-MSCSPA-PLSR; the optimal estimation model for Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP), Mn, and Zn was found to be SG-2ndD-SPA-PLSR; and the optimal estimation model for Cu and Fe was found to be SG-1st D-SPAPLSR. This paper investigates a distributed competition behavior in multi-robot coordination under variable communication topology and switching one. In terms of multi-robot competition-based coordination, a winner-take-all (WTA) strategy is leveraged to address this issue with inevitable environmental barriers incorporated. Moreover, an innovative control theory stimulated gradient neural network (CTSGNN) algorithm is proposed to realize the WTA with prominent robustness and convergence over the traditional ones. Besides, to adapt to diversified local communication modes among multi-robot systems, fast variable and low switching topologies are constructed to establish two dynamic consensus estimators, accompanied by the proposed distributed control schemes. Traditional algorithms are introduced and served as a contrast. Afterward, the global convergence of the proposed algorithm in dealing with multi-robot competitive coordination, the universality of the application scenario, as well as the weaknesses of traditional methods are substantiated theoretically. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed CTSGNN algorithm and the resultant distributed control schemes by integrating consensus estimators are further sustained via simulations. Note to Practitioners—The motivation of this paper is the coordination operation of multi-robot systems, but it is also applicable to other fields adopting multi-agent systems. Most of the existing researches on multi-robot coordination only exploit their collaborative behavior, which usually leads to the system redundancy and overflow of control costs. To this end, an innovative control algorithm is proposed for this competitive coordination and remains to be perfect in terms of stability and accuracy. Then, this paper establishes new distributed control schemes for multi-robot systems to compete for optimal dynamic task allocation. In this sense, under the premise of ensuring a successful task execution, only a few individuals with strong abilities and advantages are assigned. It is promising to maximize resource utilization, increase efficiency, and be extended to multi-objective scenarios. Note that the design of this scheme takes into account the environmental constraints and physical constraints of the robot itself. Theoretical analysis and preliminary simulation experiments prove the high efficiency of the control scheme. A microcystin-degrading bacterial strain, Blastomonas fulva T2, was isolated from the culture of a microalgae Microcystis. The strain B. fulva T2 is Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic, non-spore-forming and phototrophic. The cells of B. fulva T2 are able to grow in ranges of temperature from 15 to 37 °C, with a pH of 6 to 8 and a salinity of 0 to 1% NaCl. Here, we sequenced the complete genome of B. fulva T2, aiming to better understand the evolutionary biology and the function of the genus Blastomonas at the molecular level. The complete genome of B. fulva T2 contained a circular chromosome (3,977,381 bp) with 64.3% GC content and a sizable plasmid (145.829 bp) with 60.7% GC content which comprises about 3.5% of the total genetic content. A total of 3842 coding genes, including 46 tRNAs and 6 rRNAs, were predicted in the genome. The genome contains genes for glycolysis, citric acid cycle, Entner–Doudoroff pathways, photoreaction center and bacteriochlorophylla synthesis. A 7.9 K gene cluster containing mlrA, mlrB, mlrC and mlrD1,2,3,4 of microcystin-degrading enzymes was identified. Notably, eight different efflux pumps categorized into RND, ABC and MFS types have been identified in the genome of strain T2. Our findings should provide new insights of the alternative reaction pathway as well as the enzymes which mediated the degradation of microcystin by bacteria, as well as the evolution, architectures, chemical mechanisms and physiological roles of the new bacterial multidrug efflux system. It is generally considered that controlling a robot precisely becomes tough on the condition of unknown structure information. Applying a data-driven approach to the robot control with the unknown structure implies a novel feasible research direction. Therefore, in this article, as a combination of the structural learning and robot control, an acceleration-level data-driven repetitive motion planning (DDRMP) scheme is proposed with the corresponding recurrent neural network (RNN) constructed. Then, theoretical analyses on the learning and control abilities are provided. Moreover, simulative experiments on employing the acceleration-level DDRMP scheme as well as the corresponding RNN to control a Sawyer robot and a Baxter robot with unknown structure information are performed. Accordingly, simulation results validate the feasibility of the proposed method and comparisons among the existing repetitive motion planning (RMP) schemes indicate the superiority of the proposed method. Purpose: To evaluate the medium and long-term efficacy of superselective transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) with lipiodol–bleomycin emulsions (LBE) for giant hepatic hemangiomas. Methods: A total of 241 patients who had underwent TAE with LBE for hepatic hemangiomas from January 2010 to December 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Blood tests were performed 3 and 7 days after TAE and procedural-related complications were recorded. The patients were followed up by enhanced CT or MRI imaging at 6, 12, 36, and 60 months post-TAE, respectively. Technical success of TAE was defined as successful embolization of all identifiable arteries supplying to the hemangiomas. Clinical success was defined as improvement of the abdominal symptoms and indications on the imaging examinations that the hemangiomas had decreased by more than 50% in maximum diameter. Results: TAE was performed successfully in all patients without serious complications. Improvement of the abdominal symptoms was recorded in 102/102 cases (100%). The reduction rate of the tumor maximum diameter with >50% at 6, 12, 36, and 60 months was 88.1% (190/210), 86.7% (170/196), 85.2% (124/142), and 86.5% (45/52), respectively. There was a significant change from pre-TAE to follow-up values in maximum diameter (p < 0.05). Conclusion: TAE with LBE was feasible and effective for giant hepatic hemangiomas. The reductions of the tumor maximum diameter with >50% at medium (≥3 years) and long-term (≥5 years) follow-up were satisfactory, with 85.2% and 86.5%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chiral materials with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are currently attracting great attention for their wide applications in bioresponsive imaging, 3D displays, and storage of information. Herein, CPL‐active enantiomorphic hybrids (R)‐ and (S)‐C6H15Cl2NO⋅SbCl5 are obtained by self‐assembling chiral R/S‐(3‐chloro‐2‐hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride with antimony(III) chloride, giving a 0D structure with SbCl5 pyramids isolated by (3‐chloro‐2‐hydroxypropyl)trimethylammonium chloride cations. The formed enantiomers exhibit brilliant orange emission peaked at 604 nm with photoluminescence quantum yield as high as 71.2%, originating from the self‐trapped exciton emission demonstrated by photophysical characterization. Due to the existence of chiral organic cations, the enantiomers exhibit strong chiral‐optical properties with mirror‐image circular dichroism signals in ground state and obvious CPL activity with the dissymmetry factor glum of 2.5 × 10−4 and −1.6 × 10−4 for R‐type and S‐type, respectively. It should be mentioned that these are the first reported 0D hybrids with CPL‐activity. This work paves an avenue for developing eco‐friendly CPL materials with highly ‐efficient luminescence. This article proposes an improved tubular single-phase permanent magnet linear oscillation actuator (SP-PMLOA) considering eliminating detent force for direct drive compressor applications. First, the flux tube method and Maxwell stress tensor are used to derive the end force and cogging force formulations based on the magnetic flux leakage of the magnet rings. Then, a novel model with minimum detent force is presented by finite element parametric sweeping. Finally, the electromagnetic performance of the three SP-PMLOAs is compared using 2-D finite element analysis (FEA), whose merits are evaluated, and the thermal distribution of the optimal PMLOA is analyzed using 3-D FEA. The predicted results show that the proposed structure not only can significantly reduce the detent force and the mover axial length but also can increase the thrust force-moving magnet mass ratio. Many complex nonlinear optimization or control issues can be transformed into the solving of time-varying nonlinear equations (TVNEs), playing a fundamental role in the control and management of complex systems. As a result, a robust and high-precision online solution method is significant for TVNE. However, there are three main challenges for handling TVNE via the existing methods: First, short-time invariance assumption frequently leveraged in the existing methods leads to lagging errors that are difficult to eliminate. Second, it is difficult in dealing with unknown noise disturbance during the solution process, which causes low solution accuracy or solution failure. Third, existing continuous-time methods are hard to be implemented on digital equipments. In this article, an anti-noise discrete-time neural dynamics (DTND) is designed and studied to overcome the above issues systematically. The theoretical analysis and numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed model effectively eliminates the lagging errors and achieves the accurate solution of the TVNE in a noisy environment. Moreover, to verify the superior numerical computational property of the DTND model, the intention recognition of lower limbs is explored from the artificial systems, computational experiments, and parallel execution (ACP) framework. Specifically, a nonlinear artificial dynamic system (NADS) concerning the human surface electromyogram (sEMG) signals and joint information is established, which performs in parallel with the actual human lower limb physical experiments. Simulation results illustrate that, within the acceptable range of the digital computer, the controller designed by the DTND model can well guide the NADS to accurately recognize the motion intention of the human lower limb. Introduction: Adult-onset autosomal dominant leukodystrophy (ADLD) is a rare genetic leukoencephalopathy caused by duplication of the lamin B1 gene (LMNB1) or LMNB1 upstream deletions. Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is another leukoencephalopathy due to GGC repeat expansion in the 5'-untranslated region of the NOTCH2NLC gene. Here, we report two Chinese ADLD families with neuroimaging and clinical features mimicking NIID.Methods: We conducted detailed medical history inquiry, neurological examinations, and magnetic resonance imaging in the two families. Candidate gene sequencing and whole exome sequencing (WES) with copy number variation analysis were used to screen the genetic variations. The special points on the clinical and neuroimaging findings in the current families and differential diagnosis of ADLD with NIID are discussed.Results: The two families presented with slowly progressive, multiple central nervous system symptoms, including spastic paraplegia, autonomic dysfunction, ataxia, deep sensory loss, and tremor. Clinical phenotypes were consistent within the family. Transient hypoglycemia and transient dilated pupils indicating autonomic dysfunctions were recorded for the first time in ADLD. Brain MRI showed band-like hyperintensities at the cortico-medullary junction on DWI, typical for NIID. Skin biopsy and genetic sequencing of the NOTCH2NCL gene did not support the diagnosis of NIID. Further whole exome sequencing (WES) identified the duplication mutation spanning the entire LMNB1 gene.Conclusions: The novel feature of transient hypoglycemia and dilated pupils broadens the spectrum of autonomic dysfunction in ADLD. Clinical manifestations and neuroimaging of ADLD can mimic NIID. Although ADLD is even rarer than NIID, the differential diagnosis of these two diseases should not be confused. This research provides a complete degradation scheme for acrylic copolymer/cellulose acetate butyrate peelable decontamination films. This study analyzed the removal efficiency of uranium by peelable decontamination film. More importantly, the degradability of the films was evaluated by a combined treatment with UV radiation and microbial biodegradation. The results showed that UV radiation would rupture the surface of the decontamination films, which leaded the weight-average molecular weight decreased by 55.3% and number-average molecular weight decreased by 75.83%. Additionally, the microbial flora induced light-degradable decontamination film weight-average molecular weight and number-average molecular weight decreased by 9.3% and 30.73%, respectively. 16S rRNA microbial diversity analysis indicated that Pantoea, Xylella, Cronobacter, and Olivibacter were the major degrading bacteria genera. Among them, 4 key strains that can be stripped of decontamination films have been isolated and identified from the dominant degrading bacteria group. The results show that UV radiation combined with microbial flora can achieve rapid degradation of the decontamination films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
