To investigate the predictors of clinical outcomes in unresponsive patients with acquired brain injuries.Patients with coma or disorders of consciousness were enrolled from August 2019 to March 2021. A retrospective analysis of demographics, etiology, clinical score, diagnosis, electroencephalography (EEG), and event-related potential (ERP) data from 1 week to 2 months after coma onset was conducted. Findings were assessed for predicting favorable outcomes at 6 months post-coma, and functional outcomes were determined using the Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended (GOS-E).Of 68 patients, 22 patients had a good neurological outcome at 6 months, while 11 died. Univariate analysis showed that motor response (Motor-R; p 0.001), EEG pattern (p = 0.015), sleep spindles (p = 0.018), EEG reactivity (EEG-R; p 0.001), mismatch negativity (MMN) amplitude at electrode Fz (FzMMNA; p = 0.001), P3a latency (p = 0.044), and P3a amplitude at electrode Cz (CzP3aA; p 0.001) were significantly correlated with patient prognosis. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that FzMMNA, CzP3aA, EEG-R, and Motor-R were significant independent predictors of a favorable outcome. The sensitivity and specificity of FzMMNA (dichotomized at 1.16 μV) were 86.4% and 58.5%, and of CzP3aA (cut-off value 2.76 μV) were 90.9% and 70.7%, respectively. ERP amplitude (ERP-A), a combination of FzMMNA and CzP3aA, improved prediction accuracy, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.884. A model incorporating Motor-R, EEG-R, and ERP-A yielded an outstanding predictive performance (AUC=0.921) for a favorable outcome.ERP-A and the prognostic model resulted in the efficient prediction of a favorable outcome in unresponsive patients.

BackgroundChronic subdural haematoma (CSDH) is a common condition in the elderly that often requires neurosurgical management. For small CSDH, evidence has emerged that statins may reduce haematoma volume and improve outcomes, presumably by reducing local inflammation and promoting vascular repair. We wish to extend this evidence in a study that aims to determine the efficacy and safety of atorvastatin combined with low-dose dexamethasone in patients with CSDH.MethodsThe second ATorvastatin On Chronic subdural Hematoma (ATOCH-II) study is a multi-centre, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial which aims to enrol 240 adult patients with a conservative therapeutic indication for CSDH, randomly allocated to standard treatment with atorvastatin 20 mg combined with low-dose dexamethasone (or matching placebos) daily for 28 days, and with 152 days of follow-up. The primary outcome is a composite good outcome defined by any reduction from baseline in haematoma volume and survival free of surgery at 28 days. Secondary outcomes include functional outcome on the modified Rankin scale (mRS) and modified Barthel Index at 28 days, surgical transition and reduction in haematoma volumes at 14, 28 and 90 days.DiscussionThis multi-centre clinical trial aims to provide high-quality evidence on the efficacy and safety of the combined treatment of atorvastatin and low-dose dexamethasone to reduce inflammation and enhance angiogenesis in CSDH.Trial registrationChiCTR,ChiCTR1900021659. Objective: Our group aimed to investigate the expression pattern of miRNA-873-5p in cervical cancer (CC) patients and its association with CC progression. Methods: Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was applied for the examination of the expressions of miRNA-873-5p in both CC specimens and cell lines. The clinical significance of miRNA-873-5p was statistically analyzed. MTT, colony formation, Transwell and flow cytometry assays were used to detect cell proliferation, metastasis, and apoptosis changes of Hela and Siha cell line. Luciferase reporter assays and Western blots were utilized to identify the target genes of miRNA-873-5p. Western blot and RT-PCR were used to judge the dysregulation of Notch signaling. Results: Our results indicated that miRNA-873-5p expression was distinctly reduced in CC patients. Low miRNA-873-5p expressions were distinctly correlated with positively distant metastasis, The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage and poor prognosis of CC patients. A functional assay using miRNA-873-5p mimics indicated that overexpression of miRNA-873-5p distinctly suppressed CC cells proliferation and metastasis, and promoted apoptosis. Bioinformatic assays revealed that miRNA-873-5p may target the 3’-UTR of ZEB1 and lead to the suppression of its translation, which was verified by the use of luciferase assays. Finally, overexpression of miRNA-873-5p suppressed the expressions of Jag1, Maml2 and Hey1. Conclusion: Taken together, we firstly provided evidence that miRNA-873-5p expression was a poor favorable factor for CC patients, and the use of miRNA-873-5p may represent a and potential biomarker and promising therapeutic approach for CC.

Two N-containing hydrocarbon based polymers polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and polyaniline (PANI) were found to be able to destabilize LiBH 4 , a potential hydrogen storage material, resulting in larger hydrogen capacities of more than 10 wt% with peak dehydrogenation temperatures around 344 °C. The results suggest that a co-destabilization effect was achieved through the interaction of B H and C H bonds, which was further enhanced due to the presence of nitrogen atoms in polymers. After rehydrogenation of the dehydrogenated products, LiBH 4 was found to be regenerated to a large extent in both of the LiBH 4 +polymer composites. Detailed analysis including XRD, FTIR, DSC-TG-MS, HRTEM, Raman, XPS and solid-state 11 B MAS NMR was performed to elucidate the dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation mechanisms in these composites. The results provide considerable information about interaction mechanisms among B H, C H, N H and C N bonds and also shed lights on the enhancement of LiBH 4 dehydrogenation and reversibility.

During human erythroid maturation, Hsp70 translocates into the nucleus and protects GATA-1 from caspase-3 cleavage. Failure of Hsp70 to localize to the nucleus was found in Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) erythroblasts and can induce dyserythropoiesis, with arrest of maturation and death of erythroblasts. However, the mechanism of the nuclear trafficking of Hsp70 in erythroblasts remains unknown. Here, we found the hematopoietic transcriptional regulator, EDAG, to be a novel binding partner of Hsp70 that forms a protein complex with Hsp70 and GATA-1 during human normal erythroid differentiation. EDAG overexpression blocked the cytoplasmic translocation of Hsp70 induced by EPO deprivation, inhibited GATA-1 degradation, thereby promoting erythroid maturation in an Hsp70-dependent manner. Furthermore, in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients with dyserythropoiesis, EDAG is dramatically down-regulated, and forced expression of EDAG has been found to restore the localization of Hsp70 in the nucleus and elevate the protein level of GATA-1 to a significant extent. In addition, EDAG rescued the dyserythropoiesis of MDS patients by increasing erythroid differentiation and decreasing cell apoptosis. This study demonstrates the molecular mechanism of Hsp70 nuclear sustaining during erythroid maturation and establishes that EDAG might be a suitable therapeutic target for dyserythropoiesis in MDS patients.

To investigate the effects of Listeria monocytogenes infection on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) composition, cell cycle and cell colony-forming ability in mouse bone marrow.The C57BL/6J mice were divided into infected group and control group. The mice in injected group were infected intraperitoneally with 6.7×10Serum IFNγ levels peaked at 24 hours after infection with Listeria monocytogenes. After 24 h, the proportion of LSK, LSK in S phase, and short-term hematopoietic stem cells (ST-HSC) in the infected group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P＜0.001), long-term hematopoietic stem cells (LT-HSC) and the proportion of LT-HSC in S phase were significantly increased (P＜0.01), and the cell colony-forming ability of bone marrow significantly decreased (P＜0.01). Background/Aims: Extensive studies have demonstrated that Bleomycin (BLM) is a glycopeptide antibiotic that has been used as an anticancer chemotherapeutic reagent. It can induce both single- and double-strand DNA damage, inhibit synthesis of DNA, suppress proliferation, and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Smad signaling transducers are considered as important molecules in tumor development and progression, and may closely be related to the biological behaviors of some malignant carcinomas, including gastric cancer. Methods: The effects of different concentrations of BLM on the proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, migration, and invasion on gastric cancer cell lines MKN45 and AGS were assayed by using CCK-8 assay, Annexin V/PI double staining, PI staining, and transwell assay. Western blot and Immunohistochemistry were applied to analyze the potential mechanism(s). Results: BLM treatment resulted in a low proliferation, high apoptosis, low migration and invasion in MKN45 and AGS cells. Furthermore, the possible mechanisms underlying that Smad3 activity could be changed after binding with BLM, and subsequently the Smad signaling pathway had a cascade response. Conclusion: These results highlight BLM as an exciting theme for gastric cancer treatment, which may represent an effective clinical therapeutic reagent for gastric cancer patients.

Summary China has more patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) than most other countries in the world, making this condition a major public health concern. Population-based mortality of TBI in China is estimated to be approximately 13 cases per 100 000 people, which is similar to the rates reported in other countries. The implementation of various measures, such as safety legislation for road traffic, establishment of specialised neurosurgical intensive care units, and the development of evidence-based guidelines, have contributed to advancing prevention and care of patients with TBI in China. However, many challenges remain, which are augmented further by regional differences in TBI care. High-level care, such as intracranial pressure monitoring, is not universally available yet. In the past 30 years, the quality of TBI research in China has substantially improved, as evidenced by an increasing number of clinical trials done. The large number of patients with TBI and specialised trauma centres offer unique opportunities for TBI research in China. Furthermore, the formation and development of research collaborations between China and international groups are considered essential to advancing the quality of TBI care and research in China, and to improve quality of life in patients with this condition.

Two new salts based on [Ni(tdas)2]2− (tdas2− = 1, 2, 5-thiadiazole-3,4-dithiolate), [4FBz-4EtPy]2[Ni(tdas)2](1) and [4BrBz-4EtPy]2[Ni(tdas)2] (2), have been prepared by reaction of Na2tdas, NiCl2.6H2O, and [4RBz-4EtPy]Br([4RBz-4EtPy]+ = 4-R-benzyl-4′-ethylpyridinium, R = F(1), Br(2)), and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, EI-MS spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two salts crystallize in different systems with the different stacking modes of the anions and the cations. The [4FBz-4EtPy]+ cations in 1 form a 1D chain through C−H···F hydrogen bonds, while the [Ni(tdas)2]2− anions form a 1D chain in 2 through intermolecular short S···S interactions. Some other intra-molecular contacts such as C−H···S, C−H···N, C–H···Ni, π···π, S···N, and S···Br weak interactions in 1 and 2 play an important role in the stacking of the molecules and give further rise to a network 3D structure.

Objectives Gastric cancer is an important cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide (1). There is increasing evidence that the existence of cancer stem cells (CSC) is responsible for tumour formation and maintenance. Materials and methods The present study was designed to recognise circulating CSCs from blood samples of patients with gastric cancer, using CD133 and ABCG2 as potential markers. CD133−, CD133+ ABCG2− and CD133+ ABCG2+ cells lines were analysed by flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, western blotting and real-time PCR. Furthermore, functional assays (clonogenic assay in vitro and tumourigenic assay in vivo) were also performed using these cell lines. Results Higher percentages of CD133+ cells were identified in blood samples from gastric cancer patients compared to normal controls. In addition, we found by using Kaplan–Meier analysis, that numbers of CD133+ cells correlated with poor prognosis gastric cancer patients. Finally, tumourigenic properties of CD133+ ABCG2+ cells were determined in vitro and in vivo. Conclusions Our in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that CD133+ ABCG2+ cells exhibited well-known CSC characteristics; thus when circulating they could be used as a prognostic marker for gastric cancer.

A new salt, [2ClBz2NH2Py][Ni(mnt)2](1), ([2ClBz2NH2Py]+ = 1-(2´-chlorobenzyl)-2-aminopyridinium, mnt2− = maleonitril-edithiolate), was prepared and characterized structurally by means of CHN elemental analyses, IR, MS spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with lattice contents a = 24.947(2) A, b = 12.658(1) A, c = 15.045(2) A, β = 97.41(1)°, V = 4711.0(8) A3, and Z = 8. The Ni(III) ions of 1 form a 1D spiral zigzag non-uniform magnetic chain within a [Ni(mnt)2]− column with the Ni···Ni distances of 3.971 and 4.386 A, whereas two neighboring [2ClBz2NH2Py]+ cations from a dimer by the short Cl···Cl interaction with a distance of 3.585 A. The cations and anions are linked by N···π, S···π interactions and C-H···N, C-H···S hydrogen bonds. Magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range 2–300 K show that the salt shows characteristic of spin-gap with Δ/kb = 789.1 K.

A simple, novel, specific, rapid and reproducible ultra-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry method has been developed and validated for the determination of hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) in biological fluids (plasma, urine and cerebrospinal fluid) of patients with traumatic brain injury after intravenous injection of Xuebijing (XBJ). Liquid-liquid extraction was performed, and separation was carried out on an Acquity UPLC™ BEH C18 column, with gradient elution using a mobile phase composed of methanol and 0.1% formic acid at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. A triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer with electrospray ionization was used for the detection of HSYA. The mass transition followed was m/z 611.0 → 491. The retention time was less than 3.0 min. The calibration curve was linear in the concentration range from 2 to 6125 ng/mL for cerebrospinal fluid, plasma and urine. Four novel ion-pair complexes, [FClBzTPP]2[Cu(mnt)2](1), [DiClBzTPP]2[Cu(mnt)2](2), [FClBzTPP][Ni(mnt)2](3) and [DiClBzTPP][Ni(mnt)2](4), where [FClBzTPP]+ = 1-(2′-chloro-4′-flurobenzyl)triphenylphosphonium, [DiClBzTPP]+ = 1-(2′, 4′-chlorobenzyl)triphenylphosphonium and mnt2− = maleonitriledithiolate, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV, single crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. Weak interactions such as F⋯F, Cl⋯Cl, and C–H⋯N, C–H⋯Cl, C–H⋯Cu observed in 1 and 2 consolidate 3D network structure. The Ni(III) ions of 3 and 4 form a 1D linear chain in a column of [Ni(mnt)2]− anions by intermolecular Ni⋯Ni and Ni⋯S or π⋯π weak interactions. The change of 4-substituted group in the benzyl ring from F to Cl atom results in the crystal system, space group, and the stacking and overlapping modes of [Ni(mnt)2]− anions in 3 and 4. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that 1 and 2 at 20–300 K exhibit weak ferromagnetic coupling with θ = 4.21 K and 1.80 K, whereas while 3 and 4 show antiferromagnetic coupling with J = −36.42 cm−1 and −55.78 cm−1.

In two new bis(maleonitriledithiolate)copper(II) salts, [Bz-1-MeIm]2[Cu(mnt)2] (1) and [4-NO2Bz-1-MeIm]2[Cu(mnt)2] (2) ([Bz-1-MeIm]+ = Bz-1-MeMz = 1-methyl-3-benzylimidazolium; [4-NO2Bz-1-MeIm]+ = 1-methyl-3-(4′-nitrobenzyl)imidazolium), 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P-1, whereas 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group P21/c. The cations and anions stack alternately into a column by π···π and C‒H···π interactions, and the C‒H···N and C‒H···O hydrogen bonds consolidate the crystal packing and give further rise to a 3D network structure. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that 1 displays strong antiferromagnetic interaction with θ = –255.98 K, whereas 2 shows weak ferromagnetic coupling with θ = 0.527 K.

To investigate the relation between brain ischemia and persistent vegetative state after severe traumatic brain injury.The 66 patients with severe brain injury were divided into two groups: The persistent coma group (coma duration ≥10 d) included 51 patients who had an admission Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) of 5-8 and were unconscious for more than 10 d. There were 15 patients in the control group, their admission GCS was 5-8, and were unconscious for less than 10 d. The brain areas, including frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital lobes and thalamus, were measured by Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT).In the first SPECT scan, multiple areas of cerebral ischemia were documented in all patients in both groups, whereas bilateral thalamic ischemia were presented in all patients in the persistent coma group and were absented in the control group. In the second SPECT scan taken during the period of analepsia, with an indication that unilateral thalamic ischemia were persisted in 28 of 41 patients in persistent coma group(28/41,68.29%).Persistent coma after severe brain injury is associated with bilateral thalamic ischemia.

Two new ion-pair complexes, based on [Ni(i-mnt)2]2– (i-mnt = isomaleonitriledithiolate) anion, [Bz-4-MePy]2[Ni(i-mnt)2]([Bz-4- MePy]+ = 1-benzyl-4′-methylpyridinium) (1) and [Bz-4-MeQl]2 [Ni(i-mnt)2]([Bz-4-MeQl]+ = 1-benzyl-4′-methylquinolinium) (2), were obtained and characterized. The most obvious structure feature of 1 and 2 is that the [Ni(i-mnt)2]2– anions form a 1D chain through C···N or C···C short interactions between the i-mnt ligands, and the [Bz-4-MeQl]+ cations of 2 form a 2D structure through the π···π stacking interactions between the aromatic rings. The C–H···N and C–H···Ni hydrogen bonds observed in the anions and cations consolidate the stacking of the molecules and give rise to a 3D network structure.

Bis(iso-maleonitriledithiolate)nickel(II) benzylpiperidinium, [BzPid]2[Ni(i-mnt)2] (1) is prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, UV, IR, molar conductivity, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It is found that 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with a = 9.551(1) A, b = 16.520(2) A, c = 11.004(1) A, β = 96.60(1)°, V = 1724.6(3) A3, Z = 2. Consolidate the stacking of the molecules The electrostatic interaction between [Ni(i-mnt)2]2− anions and [BzPid]+ cations consolidates the stacking of the molecules.

The preparation, crystal structures and magnetic properties of two novel salts, [DiBzPid][Ni(mnt)2](1) and [DiBzPid]2[Cu(mnt)2](2), where [DiBzPid]+ = N,N′-dibenzylpiperidinium and mnt2− = maleonitriledithiolate, are investigated. The Ni(III) ions of 1 form a 1D zigzag alternating chain in a [Ni(mnt)2]− column through intermolecular π⋯π stacking interaction, short C⋯S and C⋯N interactions between the adjacent anions, while the cations(C) and anions(A) of 2 stack into a 1D alternating ⋯CCACCACC⋯ column via C–H⋯N, C–H⋯π hydrogen bonds and π⋯π stacking interactions. Magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range 2–300 K show that 1 exhibits a spin-gap transition around 150 K with Δ/kb = 429.94 K, while 2 shows a very weakly ferromagnetic coupling behavior with θ = 1.18 × 10−2 K.

Two hybrid materials, [4RBzTPP]2[Co(NCS)4] (NCS− = isothiocyanate, [4RBzTPP]+ = 4-R-benzyltriphenylphosphinium, R = F(1), Br(2)), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV spectra, X-ray diffraction, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The Co(II) ions of the [Co(NCS)4]2− anions in 1 form a 1D chain through S···S interactions with the distance of 3.508 A, while the anions and the [4BrBzTPP]+ cations formed an alternate chain by p···π, C-H···Co weak interaction and C-H···Br hydrogen bond in 2. Magnetic susceptibility measurement in the temperature range 2–300 K shows that both 1 and 2 exhibit a weak antiferromagnetic coupling property.

The crystals of 1 and 2 are stabilized through C–H···S and C–H···Ni hydrogen bonds, π···π stacking interactions and S···Cl short interactions. In two new salts based on [Ni(tdas)2]2− (tdas2− = 1,2,5-thiadiazole-3,4-dithiolate) anion, [Bz4EtPy]2[Ni(tdas)2] (1) and [4ClBz4EtPy]2[Ni(tdas)2] (2), the unit cell contains two cations and one [Ni(tdas)2]2− anion, and C–H···S and C–H···Ni hydrogen bonds, π···π stacking interactions and S···Cl short interactions are founded.

This paper mainly focused on the life cycle cost collection of manufacturing product based on web and data organization methodology according to business requirements. The general features of manufacturing product life cycle cost were analyzed at first while cost collection objects and cost-related product features were chosen. After that, the software system was developed using .NET and C# web programming technique picking up cost data from credible websites on Internet. Then, life cycle cost data warehouse model was designed via features of cost collection object ending up with the establishment of data warehouse system acquiring cost data as data source. Basic data cleaning and data validation function was developed to meet data quality demand referring to data integrality, data authenticity and data time effectiveness. Finally, an exemplification system of family cars was set up successfully assembling 300 thousand plus records about 3500 car models in last 26 months. This system was proved to work without human manipulation over hours visiting 10 thousand web pages and collecting cost data. This proved the software was valid.

In a weak acidic Britton–Robinson buffer medium, erythrosine (Ery) can react with Fe(phen) 3 2+ to form 2:1 ion-association complex in the presence of ethanol, which will cause the remarkable enhancement of resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS), second-order scattering (SOS), and frequency doubling scattering (FDS) spectra, and the appearance of new spectra of RRS, SOS, and FDS. The maximum wavelengths ( λ ex / λ em ) of the ion-association complex are located at 350 nm/350 nm for RRS, 280 nm/560 nm for SOS, and 780 nm/390 nm for FDS, respectively. The increments of scattering intensities (Δ I ) are directly proportional to the concentration of Ery in a certain range. The detection limits for Ery are 5.6 ng mL −1 for RRS method, 13 ng mL −1 for SOS method, and 17 ng mL −1 for FDS method, respectively. Based on the above researches, a new highly sensitive and simple method for the determination of Ery has been developed. In this work, the spectral characteristics of RRS, SOS, and FDS spectra, the optimum conditions of the reaction and influencing factors were investigated. In addition, the reaction mechanism was discussed.

A new salt, [NO2BzDMAP]3[Cu2Cl7] · H2O (1), has been synthesized, where [NO2BzDMAP]+ is 1-(4′-nitrobenzyl)-4-dimethylaminopyridinium. Herein, the synthesis, spectral and structural characterization, and magnetic behavior of 1 are reported. It is orthorhombic, with space group Pca21, and a = 26.639(2) A, b = 9.638(1) A, and c = 20.011(2) A with V = 5137.5(7) A3 for Z = 4. The anion shows a chloride-bridged binuclear structure with Cu ··· Cu distance of 3.872 A; the two Cu(II) ions have a tetrahedral geometry. The cations stack through p ··· π and π ··· π interactions, and a complicated hydrogen-bonding network structure is formed through C–H ··· Cl and C–H ··· O hydrogen bonds. The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that 1 exhibits strong antiferromagnetic interaction with J = −193.0 cm−1.

The maximum RRS, SOS and FDS wavelengths (λex/λem) of the ion–association complex are located at 358/358 nm, 290/580 nm and 780/390 nm, respectively. Two new salts, [1-NaMe-2-NH2Py]2[Ni(mnt)2] (1) and [1-NaMe-2-NH2Py]2[Ni(i-mnt)2] (2) ([1-NaMe-2-NH2Py]+ = 1-(1′-naphthylmethyl)-2-aminopyridinium, mnt2− = maleonitriledithiolate, and i-mnt2− = iso-maleonitriledithiolate), have been obtained and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), mass spectroscopy (MS), molar conductivities, and single-crystal x-ray diffraction. The results have shown that the change of the ligand from mnt to i-mnt results in differences in the crystal system, space group, weak interactions, and the stacking mode of the cations and anions. The effects of weak interactions such as C--H···N, N-H···N, or C--H···Ni hydrogen bonds and p···π, π···π, and C--H···π stacking interactions generate a three-dimensional (3D) network structure.

For the multisensor autoregressive moving average (ARMA) signals, based on the modern time series analysis method, a self-tuning information fusion Wiener smoother is presented when both model parameters and noise variances are unknown. The principle is that substituting the estimators of unknown parameters and noise variances into the corresponding optimal fusion Wiener smoother will yield a self-tuning fuser. Further, applying the dynamic error system analysis (DESA) method, it is rigorously proved that the self-tuning fused Wiener smoother converges to the optimal fused Wiener smoother in a realization, i.e. it has asymptotic optimality. A simulation example shows its effectiveness.

The self-assembly of [Co(NCS)4]2− anion and substituted benzyltriphenylphosphonium cations [4RBzTPP]+ (R = H(1), NO2(2)) results in the forming of two new hybrid materials, [BzTPP]2[Co(NCS)4](1) and [4NO2BzTPP]2[Co(NCS)4](2). The Co(II) ions of the [Co(NCS)4]2− anions in 1 form a 1D chain through S⋯S interactions with the S⋯S distance of 3.458 A, while the C–H⋯S, C–H⋯O hydrogen bond and p⋯π interaction were found in 2. Magnetic susceptibility measurement in the temperature range 2–300 K shows that 1 exhibits a magnetic coupling interaction from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic around 30 K as the temperature is lowered, while 2 shows weak antiferromagnetic coupling behavior.

Through first-principles total-energy calculations, the effect of H-impurity on the magnetic properties of Co-doped ZnO is studied. Instead of an antibonding location, a bond-centered location of Co–O is the most stable location for isolated H in Co-doped ZnO with a strong bond with oxygen which results in the Co neighbor displaced from the host site to form a Co dimer with the other Co. At the most stable position, due to the strong hybridization between the H-impurity states and the Co 3 d - t 2 g minority spin states at the Fermi level in the gap, H-impurity can mediate a strong short-ranged and long-ranged ferromagnetic spin–spin interaction between neighboring Co atoms. Results based on first-principles total-energy calculations show that H-impurity is a very effective agent that can make Co-doped ZnO process high-temperature ferromagnetism.

Two new molecular magnets, based on [Ni(mnt) 2 ] − monoanion, [DiBrBzPy][Ni(mnt) 2 ] ( 1 ) and [DiBrBzIQl][Ni(mnt) 2 ] ( 2 ) ([DiBrBzPy] + = 1-(3′,5′-dibromobenzyl)pyridinium, [DiBrBzIQl] + = 1-(3′,5′-dibromobenzyl)isoquinolinium and mnt 2− = maleonitriledithiolate), were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, ESI-MS spectra, single crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The [Ni(mnt) 2 ] anions and the cations of 1 and 2 are alternately stacked and form 1D column via π⋯π stacking interactions between the [Ni(mnt) 2 ] anions and the neighboring cations. Some weak Ni⋯N, C⋯N interactions and C H⋯Br, C H⋯N hydrogen bonds between the adjacent columns further generate a 3D network structure. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that both 1 and 2 exhibit the typical magnetic behavior of a spin gap system with an energy gap of 1151.9 K for 1 and 73.9 K for 2 .

Rutile films were deposited on polyethylene terephatalate (PET), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Silicone, poly6-caprolactam (Nylon6), polyhexamethylene adipamide (Nylon6,6) and Nylon fiber substrates using 0.03 M TiOSO4 and 0.03 M H2O2 aqueous solution at 80°C for 24 h. The rutile films exhibited excellent in vitro bioactivity as they induced apatite deposition in a simulated body fluid (SBF).

Rutile films were deposited on poly-l-lactide (PLLA) substrates using 0.5 M titanium tetrachloride aqueous solution at 40 °C for 72 h. The rutile films exhibited excellent in vitro bioactivity as they induced apatite deposition in a simulated body fluid (SBF) within 3 days. This simple treatment provided an effective route to synthesize bioactive and biodegradable scaffolds.

Based on the model established by Grossman and Helpman, we study how the enterprise lobbying competition and the information searching activity affect the antidumping decision. Through analyzing the participator’s utility maximization behavior, we prove the price of imported products and the importance the government attaches to the national welfare is inversely proportional with tariff, while the marginal revenue of domestic enterprise from protection is in proportion with tariff. The final tariff will go down with the number of foreign enterprise lobbying for preferred trade policy, and will go up with the volume of domestic market. After analyzing the affection of the information searching and free riding behavior, we find domestic enterprise would rather directly contribute government officer than collect information, while free riding damage to the enterprise cooperative enthusiasm.

Titania consisting of rutile and anatase was precipitated on and inside of cotton fibrils when cotton was soaked in an aqueous solution of 30 mM TiOSO4 and 30 mM H2O2 kept at 80°C for 24 h. As the resultant titania-cotton fibrils were soaked in a simulated body fluid (Kokubo solution), apatite was deposited on the fibrils to yield cotton-titania-apatite composites within 1 d. Thus, the present study provided a simple technique to prepare titania-apatite composites and coatings on organic materials at low temperature.

Titania layers were deposited on titanium substrates in titanylsulfate solutions under varied concentration (0.01 and 0.03M), pH (0.67-1.27) and temperature (60 and 80°C). They were rinsed and subsequently aged in water at 80°C for 3d. The layers consisted of only rutile or rutile with trace anatase, depending on the conditions. The X-ray diffraction intensity indicates that the rutile particles grew preferably in (101) plane, regardless of being aged or not. When aged, the anatase diffraction intensity increased, and anatase newly grew in the layer consisting only of rutile. When soaked in a simulated body fluid (SBF) of the Kokubo recipe, the rinsed layer with only rutile was weakly active to deposit apatite within 5 d, while the other two exhibited no deposition. The aging improved activity. Although anatase is reported in the literature to be more active than rutile, the present study indicates that the rutile layer is more active. Thus, it is concluded that topotaxy or epitaxy would not work well but other issues like the presence of Ti-OH affect apatite deposition.

A number of studies have investigated the relationship between aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1) expression and the clinical pathological features of the patients with breast cancer. However, conclusions reported by different parties seem to be inconsistent. We have reviewed published studies and carried out this meta-analysis to provide credible results. We searched PubMed for articles published in English until September 12, 2014. Our main analyses were focused on the association between ALDH1 and the clinical pathological features, such as age, tumor size, nodal status, lymphovascular invasion, histological grade, and the expression of ER, PR, and HER2 by meta-analysis methods. If heterogeneity was observed, we used random effects model to calculate the overall odds ratios, otherwise fixed effects model was used. Twenty-one eligible studies were included in the present meta-analysis. From the pooled analyses, there was significant association between ALDH1 expression and histological grade (low vs. intermediate: pooled OR = 1.51, 95% CI: 1.09-2.10, P = 0.01; intermediate vs. high: pooled OR = 1.86, 95% CI: 1.12-3.07, P = 0.02), ER expression (pooled OR = 0.41, 95% CI: 0.29-0.58, P < 0.00001), and PR expression (pooled OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.40-0.77, P = 0.0004). No clear correlation was found between ALDH1 expression and age, tumor size, lymph node (LN) metastasis, lynphovascular invasion, and HER2 expression (P > 0.05). Despite the inconsistency in the published reports, this meta-analysis provides credible evidence to support the association between ALDH1 and breast cancer. However, it is necessary to conduct large sample studies using standardized and well-matched controls.

To explore genetic mechanism of genetic generalized epilepsies (GGEs) is challenging because of their complex heritance pattern and genetic heterogeneity. KCNJ10 gene encodes Kir4.1 channels and plays a major role in modulating resting membrane potentials in excitable cells. It may cause GGEs if mutated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible association between KCNJ10 common variants and the susceptibility and drug resistance of GGEs in Chinese population. The allele-specific MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry method was used to assess 8 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of KCNJ10 in 284 healthy controls and 483 Chinese GGEs patients including 279 anti-epileptic drug responsive patients and 204 drug resistant patients. We found the rs6690889 TC+TT genotypes were lower frequency in the GGEs group than that in the healthy controls (6.7% vs 9.5%, p = 0.01, OR = 0.50[0.29-0.86]). The frequency of rs1053074 G allele was lower in the childhood absence epilepsy (CAE) group than that in the healthy controls (28.4% vs 36.2%, p = 0.01, OR = 0.70[0.53-0.93]). The frequency of rs12729701 G allele and AG+GG genotypes was lower in the CAE group than that in the healthy controls (21.2% vs 28.4%, p = 0.01, OR = 0.74[0.59-0.94] and 36.3% vs 48.1%, p = 0.01, OR = 0.83[0.72-0.96], respectively). The frequency of rs12402969 C allele and the CC+CT genotypes were higher in the GGEs drug responsive patients than that in the drug resistant patients (9.3% vs 5.6%, OR = 1.73[1.06-2.85], p = 0.026 and 36.3% vs 48.1%, p = 0.01, OR = 0.83[0.72-0.96], respectively). This study identifies potential SNPs of KCNJ10 gene that may contribute to seizure susceptibility and anti-epileptic drug resistance.
