6. Comparison of the Brief CSI-D and MMSE Scales in Screening for Dementia in Middle-aged and Elderly Chinese People

Abstract

Background The number of dementia patients is increasing along with the aging of the population. Dementia greatly impairs health and quality of life of patients, so early prevention and identification are particularly important. Objective To compare the results of the brief Community Screening Interview for Dementia (CSI-D) and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) in dementia screening, and to assess the examination consistency of the two scales. Methods In November 2021, we collected data of a sample of 2 668 middle-aged and elderly people with complete data (including assessment results of CSI-D and MMSE, sex, age, place of residence, education level and marital status) of the CHARLS 2018. The brief CSI-D and MMSE were used to screen the risk of dementia. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation of the scores of the brief CSI-D with those of MMSE. The consistencies of the two scales in the screening of dementia in all cases and subgroups divided by personal characteristics were calculated, the overall consistency was assessed using Kappa statistic. Results The average CSI-D score and average MMSE score for all participants were (5.84±2.26) and (24.93±3.24) , respectively. Abstract

It has been shown that the substrate magnetism of YBCO tapes affects the critical current, but the role of substrate magnetism in the local critical current of the YBCO coils still needs further study. The purpose of this paper is to improve the accuracy of the current numerical model of critical current and to investigate the effect of the substrate layer magnetism on the local critical current of YBCO coils. To improve the accuracy of the present model, the contribution of the self-magnetic field to the anisotropy of the critical current and the reduction of the critical current density near the edge of the tape are considered in the finite element model (FEM). The effect of substrate magnetism on the critical current of YBCO coils is investigated experimentally and numerically, and the mechanism is clarified. It can be found that the critical current obtained by the four-lead method for a multi-turn coil is not the arithmetic average of the critical current per turn. And the magnetic flux density on the surface of coils wound by YBCO tapes with magnetic substrate is much higher than that of coils wound by tapes with non-magnetic substrate, but the magnetic flux density on the YBCO layer inside the tape is smaller. Additionally, the critical current per turn of the coil with magnetic substrate is more uniformly distributed compared with that the coil with non-magnetic substrates. The critical current model of YBCO coils developed in this paper can provide a reference for the design and optimization of HTS devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Transport ac loss is a crucial reference for evaluating the performance of high-temperature superconducting materials. Although the transport ac loss of $\text{YB}{\mathrm{a}}_{2}\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{u}}_{3}{\mathrm{O}}_{{\rm{7 - \delta \ }}}( {\text{YBCO}} )$ single tapes has been well studied, the transport ac loss characteristic of YBCO coils with different substrates in the kilohertz frequency band is still unclear, which is important for a wide range of applications, such as wireless power supply systems and high-frequency superconducting transformers. In response to the aforementioned concerns, both numerical and experimental methods are used to study the frequency dependence of transport ac loss in YBCO coils with magnetic and nonmagnetic substrate over a frequency range, from 55 Hz to 10 kHz. The mechanism of the loss of each turn and the distribution of the transport current of each turn are clarified. It is found that there is a frequency dependence of the distribution of both the loss and the transport current in each layer of each turn, and this distribution is highly dependent on the spatial location and the magnetic properties of the substrate.
