Abstract The Einstein-dilaton-Gauss–Bonnet (EdGB) theory is a modified theory of gravity which include a scalar field to couple with the higher order curvature terms. It has already been constrained with various observations include the gravitational wave (GW) with LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA (LVK) Collaboration. In this work, we study the capability for space-borne GW detectors to constrain the EdGB theory using the signal of Extreme Mass-Ratio Inspiral (EMRIs). We use the “numerical kludge (NK)” method to construct the waveform of EMRI in the EdGB theory, focusing on the case when the central black hole is spinless. We then study how a future space-borne gravitational wave detector, TianQin, for example, can place constraints on the EdGB theory through the detection of EMRIs. With the analysis using mismatch and Fisher Information Matrix (FIM), we find that the EdGB parameter $$\sqrt{\alpha }$$ α is expected to be constrained to the level of $$\sim \mathcal {O}(0.1)$$ ∼ O ( 0.1 ) km.

Abstract The direct co-conversion of methane and carbon dioxide into valuable chemicals has been a longstanding scientific pursuit for carbon neutrality and combating climate change. Herein, we present a photo-driven chemical process that reforms these two major greenhouse gases together to generate green methanol and CO, two high-valued industrial chemicals. Isotopic labeling and control experiments indicate an oxygen-atom-graft occurs, wherein CO2 transfers one O into the C–H bond of CH4 via photo-activated interfacial catalysis with AuPd nanoparticles supported on GaN. The photoexcited AuPd/GaN interface effectively orchestrates the CH4 oxidation and the CO2 reduction producing 13.66 mmol g−1 of CH3OH yield over 10 h. This design provides a solid scientific basis for the photo-driven oxygen-atom-grafting process to be further extended to visible light region.

Abstract Background This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Assessment of Quality of Life (AQoL)-6D into Malay (Malay-AQoL-6D), and assesses the instrument’s acceptability, reliability, and validity among Malaysians living with chronic heart failure (HF). Methods The translation and cross-cultural adaptation process adhered to international guidelines. The Malay-AQoL-6D underwent content and face validity assessments via expert review, and pretesting among healthy individuals and patients with chronic conditions. Subsequent psychometric validation utilised clinico-sociodemographic data and paired AQoL-6D and EQ-5D-5L data from a health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) survey involving Malay-speaking patients with HF, which encompassed assessments of Malay-AQoL-6D acceptability, internal consistency and test-retest reliability, as well as its construct, concurrent, convergent and divergent, and known-group validity. Results The Malay-AQoL-6D was deemed acceptable among clinicians and local patients, achieving a 90.8% completion rate among 314 patients surveyed. The instrument demonstrated strong content validity (item-level content validity index [CVI]: 0.83–1.00, average CVI: 0.98), internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha: 0.72–0.89; MacDonald’s omega: 0.82–0.90, excluding the Senses dimension), and test-retest reliability (average intraclass correlation coefficients: 0.79–0.95). Abstract Background Small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy forwhich survival is hampered by late diagnosis, complex responses to treatment, and poor prognosis. Accurate prognostic tools are crucial for optimizing treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes. This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database to predict cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with SBA and compare it to traditional American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging. Methods We analyzed data from 2,064 patients diagnosed with SBA between 2010 and 2020 from the SEER database. Patients were randomly assigned to training and validation cohorts (7:3 ratio). Kaplan‒Meier survival analysis, Cox multivariate regression, and nomograms were constructed for analysis of 3-year and 5-year CSS. The performance of the nomograms was evaluated using Harrell’s concordance index (C-index), the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curves, decision curve analysis (DCA), net reclassification improvement (NRI), and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI). Results Multivariate Cox regression identified sex, age at diagnosis, marital status, tumor site, pathological grade, T stage, N stage, M stage, surgery, retrieval of regional lymph nodes (RORLN), and chemotherapy as independent covariates associated with CSS. In both the training and validation cohorts, the developed nomograms demonstrated superior performance to that of the AJCC staging system, with C-indices of 0.764 and 0.759, respectively. The area under the curve (AUC) values obtained by ROC analysis for 3-year and 5-year CSS prediction significantly surpassed those of the AJCC model. The nomograms were validated using calibration and decision curves, confirming their clinical utility and superior predictive accuracy. The NRI and IDI indicated the enhanced predictive capability of the nomogram model. Conclusion The SEER-based nomogram offers a significantly superior ability to predict CSS in SBA patients, supporting its potential application in clinical decision-making and personalized approaches to managing SBA to improve survival outcomes.

Abstract Organic ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) usually emerges instantly and immediately decays after excitation removal. Here we report a new delayed RTP that is postponed by dozens of milliseconds after excitation removal and decays in two steps including an initial increase in intensity followed by subsequent decrease in intensity. The delayed RTP is achieved through introduction of phosphines into carbazole emitters. In contrast to the rapid energy transfer from single-molecular triplet states (T1) to stabilized triplet states (Tn*) of instant RTP systems, phosphine groups insert their intermediate states (TM) between carbazole-originated T1 and Tn* of carbazole-phosphine hybrids. In addition to markedly increasing emission lifetimes by ten folds, since TM → Tn* transition require >30 milliseconds, RTP is thereby postponed by dozens of milliseconds. The emission character of carbazole-phosphine hybrids can be used to reveal information through combining instant and delayed RTP, realizing multi-level time resolution for advanced information, biological and optoelectronic applications.

Kaolinite and montmorillonite are the main clay minerals in coal slime, and clay minerals are the main factors affecting the sedimentation of coal slime. This paper takes clean coal, kaolinite and montmorillonite as the research objects. The influence of ultrasonic intensity, action time, and ultrasonic pulse interval on its sedimentation effect and floc diameter was investigated. The test results show that when the ultrasonic density is 0.4 W/cm3, when the ultrasonic action time is 2 min, the sedimentation speed of kaolinite and montmorillonite are improved. Further choosing the appropriate ultrasonic pulse interval can further improve the sedimentation effect, but ultrasonic treatment is not conducive to the clean coal settlement. Further, the clean coal, kaolinite and montmorillonite samples were mixed at a ratio of 2:1:1, and the ultrasonic pulse interval time was changed to perform ultrasonic treatment. The results showed that: for the mixed sample, it settled without ultrasonic treatment, the velocity is 2.67 cm/min. When the ultrasonic density is 0.2 W/cm3 and the ultrasonic pulse interval is 4 s, the settling velocity is increased to 5.41 cm/min. Image analysis and potential characterization show that the proper ultrasonic pulse interval time enables the drug to play more fully, and then the electric double layer is compressed to the greatest extent, and finally the particle agglomeration and the growth of flocs are the best.

Abstract Background Mediastinal tumors pose a challenging respiratory and circulatory management during anesthesia procedures, there is a risk of circulatory collapse or complete airway obstruction, which in severe cases can lead to cardiac arrest. We reported a case of anesthetic management using a bronchial blocker placed outside the tracheal tube. In this case report, the patient’s trachea was so severely compressed that the airway was extremely narrow, only 4 mm at its narrowest point. By reporting the anesthetic management of this patient, we intend to provide an unusual approach for airway management. Case presentation A 52-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital due to cough and expectoration for one year. Additionally, the patient experienced chest tightness and asthma after physical activity. The enhanced computed tomography revealed there existed an irregular soft tissue mass in the right upper mediastinum, which significantly compressed the trachea and esophagus. The results of the mediastinal puncture pathology showed the presence of mesenchymal tumors. According to the results above, the patient was diagnosed with a mediastinal tumor and scheduled to undergo tumor resection under general anesthesia. We used a bronchial occluder outside the tracheal tube for general anesthesia. After surgery, the patient received thorough treatment and was subsequently discharged from the hospital. Conclusion In patients with severe airway compression from a mediastinal tumor airway compression, positioning a bronchial occluder externally to the tracheal tube is an effective method of airway management. However, we still need more clinical practice to help the process become more standardized.

Abstract Introduction Interrupted time series (ITS) design is a commonly used method for evaluating large-scale interventions in clinical practice or public health. However, improperly using this method can lead to biased results. Objective To investigate design and statistical analysis characteristics of drug utilization studies using ITS design, and give recommendations for improvements. Methods A literature search was conducted based on PubMed from January 2021 to December 2021. We included original articles that used ITS design to investigate drug utilization without restriction on study population or outcome types. A structured, pilot-tested questionnaire was developed to extract information regarding study characteristics and details about design and statistical analysis. Results We included 153 eligible studies. Among those, 28.1% (43/153) clearly explained the rationale for using the ITS design and 13.7% (21/153) clarified the rationale of using the specified ITS model structure. One hundred and forty-nine studies used aggregated data to do ITS analysis, and 20.8% (31/149) clarified the rationale for the number of time points. The consideration of autocorrelation, non-stationary and seasonality was often lacking among those studies, and only 14 studies mentioned all of three methodological issues. Missing data was mentioned in 31 studies. Only 39.22% (60/153) reported the regression models, while 15 studies gave the incorrect interpretation of level change due to time parameterization. Time-varying participant characteristics were considered in 24 studies. In 97 studies containing hierarchical data, 23 studies clarified the heterogeneity among clusters and used statistical methods to address this issue. Conclusion The quality of design and statistical analyses in ITS studies for drug utilization remains unsatisfactory. Three emerging methodological issues warranted particular attention, including incorrect interpretation of level change due to time parameterization, time-varying participant characteristics and hierarchical data analysis. We offered specific recommendations about the design, analysis and reporting of the ITS study.

Ocean color satellites require a procedure known as System Vicarious Calibration (SVC) after launch as the pre-launch and on-orbit calibration accuracy is insufficient. The current approach for determination of post-launch SVC uses a single fixed measurement location and may be susceptible to unexpected biases in satellite processing algorithms. Here we describe a novel SVC program which is based on a high resolution and high accuracy radiometric system integrated with an autonomous profiling float (providing a buoyancy engine, physical observations, and communication). This float + radiometer (HyperNav) system can be shipped via air, land, ocean and is deployable from small boats. This SVC program relies on multiple deployment sites with associated facilities to collect a significant amount of SVC quality data in a relatively short time. It has centralized logistics and command-and-control centers ensuring easy access to information regarding the status of each asset and to ensure floats stay within a certain ocean area. The development of the program has been associated with the launch of NASA’s PACE satellite and has been executed by academic institutions in collaboration with an industrial partner. Other approaches for a future float-based operational SVC program are discussed.

BackgroundSmall bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy with an increasing incidence and a high propensity for liver metastasis (LM). This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for synchronous LM and prognostic factors in patients with LM.MethodsUtilizing the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, this study analyzed data from 2,064 patients diagnosed with SBA between 2010 and 2020. Logistic regression was used to determine risk factors for synchronous LM. A nomogram was developed to predict the risk of LM in SBA patients, and its predictive performance was assessed through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and calibration curves. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were conducted to evaluate survival outcomes for SBA patients with LM.ResultsSynchronous LM was present in 13.4% of SBA patients (n = 276). Six independent predictive factors for LM were identified, including tumor location, T stage, N stage, surgical intervention, retrieval of regional lymph nodes (RORLN), and chemotherapy. The nomogram demonstrated good discriminative ability, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 83.8%. Patients with LM had significantly lower survival rates than those without LM (P

A novel ocean profiling float system for calibrating and validating satellite-based ocean color observations has been developed and tested. The float-based radiometric sampling system, herein referred to as HyperNav, is complementary to traditional moored in-situ observing systems and provides additional capability due to the relatively small platform size and high radiometric accuracy that allows for opportunistic deployments at locations during seasons and conditions that are best for ocean color observations. The purpose of this study is to optimize the deployment locations of an array of HyperNav systems to support the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission by performing System Vicarious Calibration (SVC) observations. Specifically, we present the development of logistical and scientific criteria for selecting suitable sites for developing an SVC network of profiling-float-based radiometric systems capable of calibrating and validating ocean color observations. As part of the analyses described in this paper, we have synthetically deployed HyperNav at potential US-based and international sites, including: north of Crete island; south-east of Bermuda island; south of Puerto Rico island; southwest of Port Hueneme, CA; west of Monterey, CA; west of Kona, HI; and south-west of Tahiti island. The synthetic analyses identified Kona, Puerto Rico, Crete, and Tahiti as promising SVC sites. All sites considered are suitable for generating a significant number of validation match-ups. Optimally deploying HyperNav systems at these sites during the PACE post-launch SVC campaign is expected to cost-effectively provide a large number of SVC match-ups to fulfill the PACE calibration requirements.

Abstract Mg‐ion batteries (MIBs) are promising next‐generation secondary batteries, but suffer from sluggish Mg2+ migration kinetics and structural collapse of the cathode materials. Here, an H2O‐Mg2+ waltz‐like shuttle mechanism in the lamellar cathode, which is realized by the coordination, adaptive rotation and flipping, and co‐migration of lattice H2O molecules with inserted Mg2+, leading to the fast Mg2+ migration kinetics, is reported; after Mg2+ extraction, the lattice H2O molecules rearrange to stabilize the lamellar structure, eliminating structural collapse of the cathode. Consequently, the demo cathode of Mg0.75V10O24·nH2O (MVOH) exhibits a high capacity of 350 mAh g−1 at a current density of 50 mA g−1 and maintains a capacity of 70 mAh g−1 at 4 A g−1. The full aqueous MIB based on MVOH delivers an ultralong lifespan of 5000 cycles The reported waltz‐like shuttle mechanism of lattice H2O provides a novel strategy to develop high‐performance cathodes for MIBs as well as other multivalent‐ion batteries.

Rationale: The disruption of the balance between fatty acid (FA) uptake and oxidation (FAO) leads to cardiac lipotoxicity, serving as the driving force behind diabetic cardiomyopathy (DbCM). Sirtuin 5 (Sirt5), a lysine de-succinylase, could impact diverse metabolic pathways, including FA metabolism. Nevertheless, the precise roles of Sirt5 in cardiac lipotoxicity and DbCM remain unknown. Objective: This study aims to elucidate the role and underlying mechanism of Sirt5 in the context of cardiac lipotoxicity and DbCM. Methods and results: The expression of myocardial Sirt5 was found to be modestly elevated in diabetic heart failure patients and mice. Cardiac dysfunction, hypertrophy and lipotoxicity were exacerbated by ablation of Sirt5 but improved by forced expression of Sirt5 in diabetic mice. Notably, Sirt5 deficiency impaired FAO without affecting the capacity of FA uptake in the diabetic heart, leading to accumulation of FA intermediate metabolites, which mainly included medium- and long-chain fatty acyl-carnitines. Mechanistically, succinylomics analyses identified carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 (CPT2), a crucial enzyme involved in the reconversion of fatty acyl-carnitines to fatty acyl-CoA and facilitating FAO, as the functional succinylated substrate mediator of Sirt5. Succinylation of Lys424 in CPT2 was significantly increased by Sirt5 deficiency, leading to the inactivation of its enzymatic activity and the subsequent accumulation of fatty acyl-carnitines. CPT2 K424R mutation, which mitigated succinylation modification, counteracted the reduction of enzymatic activity in CPT2 mediated by Sirt5 deficiency, thereby attenuating Sirt5 knockout-induced FAO impairment and lipid deposition. Conclusions: Sirt5 deficiency impairs FAO, leading to cardiac lipotoxicity in the diabetic heart through the succinylation of Lys424 in CPT2. This underscores the potential roles of Sirt5 and CPT2 as therapeutic targets for addressing DbCM.

Hyperspectral optical observations of the Earth’s surface oceans from space offer a means to improve our understanding of ocean biology and biogeochemistry. NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite mission, which includes a hyperspectral ocean color instrument (OCI), will provide radiometric observations of surface ocean with near continuous spectral resolution across the near UV to NIR range. Maintaining sufficient accuracy over the lifetime of satellite ocean color missions requires a robust program for system vicarious calibration (SVC) and product validation. The system vicarious calibration process combines satellite sensor data with in-situ radiometric/optical measurements to remove potential biases due to the combined errors from both satellite radiometric sensor calibration and atmospheric correction. As such, high accuracy, high-spectral resolution in-situ radiometric measurements are required to provide a principal source of truth for the satellite-derived products. To meet the requirements, a novel in-situ radiometric system, called HyperNav, has been developed, rigorously characterized and field tested. Key attributes of HyperNav are dual upwelling radiance heads coupled to individual spectrometers, spectral resolution of ∼2.2 nm (full width, half-maximum) across 320–900 nm, integrated shutter systems for dark measurements, and integrated tilt and pressure sensors. The HyperNav operational modes include traditional profiling and surface modes, as well as integration with an autonomous profiling float for unattended deployment, offering a new capability for a network of autonomous platforms to support the long-term needs for hyperspectral ocean color remote sensing observations. This paper describes the HyperNav design, in-situ operational modes, and field verification results.

Abstract Vitamin K is a lipophilic vitamin, whose absorption, transportation, and distribution are influenced by lipids. The plasma vitamin K level after supplementation is predominantly a lipid-driven effect and independent of existing vitamin K status. However, previous studies examining the efficacy of vitamin K supplementation often overlooked the influence of lipid levels on vitamin K absorption, resulting in inconsistent outcomes. Recent research discovered that impaired transportation of vitamin K2 within uremic high-density lipoproteins (HDL) in individuals with uremia might elucidate the lack of beneficial effects in preventing calcification observed in multiple trials involving menaquinone-7 (MK-7) supplementation among patients with chronic kidney disease. Clinical findings have shown that drugs used to regulate hyperlipidemia interact with the vitamin K antagonist warfarin, because cholesterol and vitamin K share common transport receptors, such as Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) and ATP-binding cassette protein G5/G8 (ABCG5/ABCG8), in enterocytes and hepatocytes. Additionally, cholesterol and vitamin K share a common biosynthetic intermediate called geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP). It is important to note that statins, which hinder cholesterol synthesis, can also impede vitamin K conversion, ultimately impacting the functionality of vitamin K-dependent proteins. Furthermore, certain studies have indicated that vitamin K supplementation holds potential in managing hyperlipidemia, potentially opening a novel avenue for controlling hyperlipidemia using dietary vitamin K supplements. Therefore, attaining a more comprehensive understanding of the intricate interplay between vitamin K and lipids will yield valuable insights concerning the utilization of vitamin K and lipid regulation.

Abstract While canonical Wnt signaling is well recognized for its crucial regulatory functions in cell fate decisions, the role of non-canonical Wnt signaling in adult stem cells remains elusive and contradictory. Here, we identified Mcam, a potential member of the non-canonical Wnt signaling, as an important negative regulator of mammary gland epithelial cells (MECs) by genome-scale CRISPR-Cas9 knockout (GeCKO) library screening. Loss of Mcam increases the clonogenicity and regenerative capacity of MECs, and promotes the proliferation, differentiation, and ductal morphogenesis of mammary epithelial in knockout mice. Mechanically, Mcam knockout recruits and polarizes macrophages through the Il4-Stat6 axis, thereby promoting secretion of the non-canonical Wnt ligand Wnt5a and its binding to the non-canonical Wnt signaling receptor Ryk to induce the above phenotypes. These findings reveal Mcam roles in mammary gland development by orchestrating communications between MECs and macrophages via a Wnt5a/Ryk axis, providing evidences for non-canonical Wnt signaling in mammary development.

Due to the potential for high energy harvesting capacity, subwavelength scale semiconductor nanostructured arrays are used to address the issue of single-junction thin-film solar cells' limited solar energy harvesting. Along with numerical simulations, an effective and efficient algorithm is crucial to maximizing the optical field modulation and energy trapping capacity of nanostructures. Based on the effective medium theory and the leaky mode resonance, an analytical feedback algorithm is suggested in this study to determine the precise the dimensions of vertically aligned InP stepped nanocylinders (SNCs) for maximum solar energy absorption. For both square and hexagonally arranged two-segment or three-segment InP SNC arrays, the ideal geometrical dimensions were quantitatively estimated for maximum energy harvesting. Densities of short-circuit current Jscs under the AM 1.5G spectrum's illumination as the measurement standard, they were computed for each SNC array. The maximal Jsc of 32.85 mA/cm2 was obtained with square three-segment InP SNC arrays. The optimized SNC arrays for the maximum light absorption are also validated and examined using thorough finite-difference time-domain computational simulations. The algorithm estimated maximum Jsc had tolerances of under 1.8% for all scenarios, which, when compared to simulations, shows that this analytical method offers a practical and efficient means to direct the design of high-performance InP SNC arrays solar cells.

Abstract In mountainous rural settlements facing the threat of geohazards, local adaptation is a self-organizing process influenced by individual and group behaviors. Encouraging a wide range of local populations to embrace geohazard adaptation strategies emerges as a potent means of mitigating disaster risks. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether neighbors influence individuals’ adaptation decisions, as well as to unravel the mechanisms through which neighborhood effects exert their influence. We employed a spatial Durbin model and a series of robustness checks to confirm the results. The dataset used in this research came from a face-to-face survey involving 516 respondents residing in 32 rural settlements highly susceptible to geohazards. Our empirical results reveal that neighborhood effects are an important determinant of adaptation to geohazards. That is, a farmer’s adaptation decision is influenced by the adaptation choices of his/her neighbors. Furthermore, when neighbors adopt adaptation strategies, the focal individuals may also want to adapt, both because they learn from their neighbors’ choices (social learning) and because they tend to abide by the majority’s choice (social norms). Incorporating neighborhood effects into geohazard adaptation studies offers a new perspective for promoting disaster risk reduction decision making.

Background: Tracheal injury is a rare but potentially serious acute complication of endotracheal intubation. Very few cases of tracheal injury associated with coagulation abnormalities have been reported in the literature. We present a rare case of a patient presenting with tracheal injury in combination with coagulation abnormalities following thyroidectomy. Case presentation: A 58-year-old woman with a history of postoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer, gastric polyps, multiple colonic polyps, esophageal papillary adenomas, and thyroid adenomas presented with dyspnea following 10 ml hemoptysis on the third day after thyroidectomy; she was admitted to the intensive care unit and underwent tracheal intubation for maintaining the airway. Subsequent bronchoscopy revealed a nodular red neoplasm 5-cm from the carina in the trachea obstructing part of the lumen, with a small amount of fresh hemorrhage on the surface. Tracheal injury was considered the preliminary diagnosis. Fiberoptic bronchoscope guided tracheal intubation helped prevent rupture of the tumor, and the cannula was properly inflated to arrest the bleeding while blocking the lower part of the trachea. An emergency surgical evacuation of the cervical hematoma was performed for managing postoperative bleeding. The patient demonstrated persistent pancytopenia despite frequent transfusions. Laboratory examination results revealed abnormal coagulation parameters, anemia, and hepatic dysfunction. Following a multidisciplinary team discussion, pituitrin for hemostasis, tranexamic acid for strengthening hemostasis treatment, and nutritional support and anti-infection treatment were initiated. Endotracheal tube cuff inflation was performed to compress the bleeding site. Complete resolution of the subcutaneous hematoma was observed nine days after the tracheal injury; bronchoscopy revealed residual ecchymosis in the airway hematoma with no evidence of obstruction. Conclusion: Conservative management of tracheal injury limited to the mucosa or submucosa without significant amount of active bleeding using endotracheal intubation is considered a practical and effective approach. Successful management was ensured by appropriate clinical suspicion, early multidisciplinary team discussion, and prompt diagnosis and interventions.

Checking the radiometric calibration of satellite hyper-spectral sensors such as the PACE Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) while they operate in orbit and evaluating remote sensing reflectance, the basic variable from which a variety of optical and biogeochemical ocean properties can be derived, requires measuring upwelling radiance just above the surface (Lw) and downwelling planar irradiance reaching the surface (Es). For this, the current HyperNav systems measure Lw at about 2 nm spectral resolution in the ultraviolet to near infrared, but Es in only four 10 nm wide spectral bands centered on 412, 489, 555, and 705 nm. In this study, the Es data acquired in these spectral bands in clear sky conditions are used to reconstruct via a multi-linear regression model the hyper-spectral Es signal at 0.5 nm resolution from 315 to 900 nm, the OCI spectral range, allowing an estimate of Es at the HyperNav, OCI, and other sensors’ resolutions. After correction of gaseous absorption and normalization by the top-of-atmosphere incident solar flux, the atmospheric diffuse transmittance is expressed as a linear combination of Es measured in those 4 spectral bands. Based on simulations for Sun zenith angles from 0 to 75° and a wide range of (i.e., expected) atmospheric, surface, and water conditions, the Es spectrum is reconstructed with a bias of less than 0.4% in magnitude and an RMS error (RMSE) ranging from 0% to 2.5%, depending on wavelength. The largest errors occur in spectral regions with strong gaseous absorption. In the presence of typical noise on Es measurements and uncertainties on the ancillary variables, the bias and RMSE become −2.5% and 7.0%, respectively. Using a General Additive Model with coefficients depending on Sun zenith angle and aerosol optical thickness at 550 nm improves statistical performance in the absence of noise, especially in the ultraviolet, but provides similar performance on noisy data, indicating more sensitivity to noise. Adding spectral bands in the ultraviolet, e.g., centered on 325, 340, and 380 nm, yields marginally more accurate results in the ultraviolet, due to uncertainties in the gaseous transmittance. Comparisons between the measured and reconstructed Es spectra acquired by the MOBY spectroradiometer show agreement within predicted uncertainties, i.e., biases less than 2% in magnitude and RMS differences less than 5%. Reconstruction can also be achieved accurately with other sets of spectral bands and extended to cloudy conditions since cloud optical properties, like aerosol properties, tend to vary regularly with wavelength. These results indicate that it is sufficient, for many scientific applications involving hyper-spectral Es, to measure Es in a few coarse spectral bands in the ultraviolet to near infrared and reconstruct the hyperspectral signal using the proposed multivariate linear modeling.

Abstract Background Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) is widely used as an embryo selection technique in in vitro fertilization (IVF), but its effectiveness and potential beneficiary populations are unclear. Methods This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent their first oocyte retrieval cycles at CITIC-Xiangya between January 2016 and November 2019, and the associated fresh and thawed embryo transfer cycles up to November 30, 2020. PGT-A (PGT-A group) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)/IVF (non-PGT-A group) cycles were included. The numbers of oocytes and embryos obtained were unrestricted. In total, 60,580 patients were enrolled, and baseline data were matched between groups using 1:3 propensity score matching. Sensitivity analyses, including propensity score stratification and traditional multivariate logistic regression, were performed on the original unmatched cohort to check the robustness of the overall results. Analyses were stratified by age, body mass index, ovarian reserve/responsiveness, and potential indications to explore benefits in subgroups. The primary outcome was cumulative live birth rate (CLBR). The other outcomes included live birth rate (LBR), pregnancy loss rate, clinical pregnancy rate, pregnancy complications, low birth weight rate, and neonatal malformation rate. Results In total, 4195 PGT-A users were matched with 10,140 non-PGT-A users. Abstract Background Clonorchis sinensis, one of the most important food-borne zoonotic trematodes, remains prevalent in China. Understanding its infection status in animals is crucial for controlling human clonorchiasis. Here we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to focus on the spatio-temporal disparities of C. sinensis infection in animals in China. Methods Data on C. sinensis prevalence in snails, the second intermediate hosts, or animal reservoirs in China were extracted from electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Chinese Wanfang database, CNKI, VIP, and China Biomedical Literature database. A random-effects meta-analysis model was utilized to estimate the pooled prevalence in each of the above animal hosts. Subgroup analysis and multivariable meta-regression were performed to explore potential sources of heterogeneity across studies and compare the temporal disparity of infection rates between high and low epidemic areas. Scatter plots were used to depict the biogeographical characteristics of regions reporting C. sinensis infection in animals. 【Objective】Begonia often referred to as the "king" of ornamental plant. In the study, we explored the relationship between the leaf structure and heat among Begonia species with diverse leaf colors, aiming to screen out Begonia species with high ornamental value and strong heat tolerance.【Method】The leaf anatomies of seven Begonia species were observed by using paraffin sectioning. Cluster analysis and correlation analysis were utilized to identify indicators related to leaf tissue structures. Additionally, a membership function method was implemented to comprehensively evaluate the heat tolerance of the seven Begonia species.【Result】(1) The leaves of all seven species were heterophyllous with both upper and lower epidermis being composed of a tightly arranged single layer of cells. The upper epidermis was flat or convex, while stomata concentrated on the lower epidermis. The mesophyll was differentiated into palisade and spongy tissues. The palisade tissue was underdeveloped, usually consisting of 1 to 2 layers of chloroplast-rich cells. In contrast, the spongy tissue was more developed, with 3 to 5 layers. Leaf colors varied between species and were associated with differences in palisade cell morphology and arrangement. (2)Total leaf thickness, spongy tissue thickness, palisade-to-spongy tissue ratio, and tissue tightness were key anatomical factors influencing heat tolerance. (3)The heat tolerance ranking from highest to lowest were as: B. barsalouxiae, B. luzhaiensis, B. luochengensis, Begonia sp., B. debaoensis, B. variifolia, and B. handelii. According to this ranking, we categorized them into three levels of tolerance: B. barsalouxiae as heat-tolerant, B. luzhaiensis and B. luochengensis as moderately heat-tolerant, and B. debaoensis, B. variifolia, and B. handelii and Begonia sp. as low heat-tolerant.【Conclusion】Observations of leaf anatomy revealed that the palisade tissue was underdeveloped in several Begonia species. In contrast, the spongy tissue was more developed, resulting in a quite loose leaf structure, and this loose structure greatly influenced heat tolerance in Begonia.

Abstract Background For infertile women with overweight/obesity and insulin resistance (IR), it is uncertain whether intervention before infertility treatment can improve live birth rate (LBR). We implemented a factorial-design study to explore the effectiveness of lifestyle and metformin interventions. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of a definitive study. Methods We randomised 80 women without polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) who planned to start their first or second IVF/ICSI treatment with a body mass index ≥ 25 kg/m2 and IR. Participants were randomised (1:1:1:1) into four groups: (A) lifestyle intervention, (B) metformin intervention, (C) lifestyle + metformin intervention, or (D) no intervention. All interventions were performed before IVF/ICSI treatment. Results During 10 months, 114 women were screened and eligible; 80 were randomised, and 72 received the assigned treatment. The recruitment rate was 70.18% (80/114, 95% CI 61.65%–78.70%). An average of 10 participants were randomised each month. None of the participants crossed over from one group to another. Approximately 93.15% (68/73) of the participants achieved good intervention compliance. Only 77.78% (56/72) of the recruited participants started infertility treatment after achieving the goal of the intervention. All randomised participants completed the follow-up. Mild adverse events after metformin administration were reported in 43.24% (16/37) of the cases, although no serious adverse events related to the interventions occurred. The LBR for groups A + C and B + D were 33.33% (12/36) and 33.33% (12/36) (RR = 1.00, 95%CI:0.52–1.92) (lifestyle intervention effect). The LBR for groups B + C and A + D were 43.24% (16/37) and 22.86% (8/35) (RR = 1.89, 95% CI:0.93–3.86) (metformin intervention effect). There was no evidence for an intervention interaction between lifestyle and metformin. We cannot yet confirm the effects of lifestyle, metformin, or their interaction owing to the insufficient sample size in this pilot study. Conclusions Instituting a 2 × 2 factorial design randomized controlled trial (RCT) is feasible, as the pilot study showed a high recruitment rate and compliance. There is no evidence that lifestyle or metformin improves live birth, and adequately powered clinical trials are required. Trial registration clinicaltrials.gov NCT03898037. Abstract Alkanes are naturally abundant chemical building blocks that contain plentiful C(sp 3)-H bonds. While inert, the activation of C(sp 3)-H via hydrogen atom abstraction (HAT) stages an appealing approach to generate alkyl radicals. However, prevailing shortcomings include the excessive use of oxidants and alkanes that impede scope. We herein show the use of gallium nitride (GaN) as a non-toxic, recyclable, heterogeneous photocatalyst to enable alkyl C(sp 3 )-H in conjunction with the catalytic use of simple photosensitizer, benzophenone, to promote the desired alkyl radical generation. The dual photocatalytic cycle enables cross-dehydrogenative Minisci alkylation under mild and chemical oxidant-free conditions.

An emerging number of studies have recently revealed the correlation between burn injuries and psychological disorders. Gut microbiota and inflammatory factors may play a vital role in this process. Nevertheless, there are few studies conducted to disclose the potential mechanism of the gut microbiota between depression and burn injuries. In this study, we constructed a burn model of C57BL/6 mice, which showed that the symptom of depression became more and more severe with the burn of mice lasted longer. Meanwhile, there are significant differences of composition of gut microbiota among mice before and after burn. Then, we tested the inflammatory factors in the brain and peripheral blood, which showed an increased expression of Iba1, VWF, TNF-α and IL-6, and a decreased expression of IL-10 in burn mice. In addition, the expression of zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) in cecum showed a down-regulation in burn mice, which indicated impaired intestinal barrier function. Lastly, the crossing fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and cohousing experiment were conducted to determine the functions of cross-transplantation of fecal microbiota on the depressive-type behaviours in burned mice. Corydalis saxicola, an endangered medicinal plant endemic to karst habitats, is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat hepatitis, abdominal pain, bleeding hemorrhoids and other conditions. However, to date, the mitochondrial (mt) genome of C. saxicola has not been reported, which limits our understanding of the genetic and biological mechanisms of C. saxicola. Here, the mt genome of C. saxicola was assembled by combining the Nanopore and Illumina reads. The mt genome of C. saxicola is represented by a circular chromosome which is 587,939 bp in length, with an overall GC content of 46.50%. 40 unique protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes and three rRNA genes were identified. Codon usage of the PCGs was investigated and 167 simple sequence repeats were identified. Twelve homologous fragments were identified between the mt and ct genomes of C. saxicola, accounting for 1.04% of the entire mt genome. Phylogenetic examination of the mt genomes of C. saxicola and 30 other taxa provided an understanding of their evolutionary relationships. We also predicted 779 RNA editing sites in 40 C. saxicola mt PCGs and successfully validated 506 (65%) of these using PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing. In addition, we transcriptionally profiled 24 core mt PCGs in C. saxicola roots treated with different concentrations of CaCl2, as well as in other organs. These investigations will be useful for effective utilization and molecular breeding, and will also provide a reference for further studies of the genus Corydalis.

Summary: Bladder cancer (BC) is a prevalent and deadly disease. circCD2AP was suggested to be highly expressed in BC. However, the exact mechanism needs further investigation. In this study, circCD2AP was observed to be upregulated in BC and linked to poor prognosis in individuals. Functionally, circCD2AP or USP21 knockdown inhibited BC cell EMT and stemness both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, circCD2AP interacted with ELAVL1 to enhance the stability of USP21 mRNA, which, in turn, inhibited the ubiquitination degradation of FOXQ1. Through rescue assay, USP21 or FOXQ1 knockdown was found to abolish the promoting effects of circCD2AP or USP21 overexpression on BC cell EMT and stemness. Overall, this study has unveiled the role of circCD2AP/ELAVL1/USP21/FOXQ1 axis in BC EMT and stemness regulation, offering insights into the mechanisms underlying BC progression, with potential implications for therapeutic strategies.

Objective Cardiac CT (CCT) is an emerging non-invasive modality for assessing left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombus, but the results were conflicting. Our study aims to evaluate the accuracy of CCT for detecting LAA thrombus in patients undergoing catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, using trans-oesophageal echocardiography (TEE) as the reference standard.Design Case-control study.Setting Patient data were collected from a tertiary hospital in China between 2017 and 2022.Participants The study enrolled 726 patients (male: 60.2%, age: 61±11 years) who had both TEE and CCT before catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.Measures The CCT protocol consisted of one angiographic phase and one delayed scan 30 s later. LAA thrombi were defined as solid masses on TEE or persistent defects on CCT. The thrombus dimension and location, the LAA filling and emptying flow velocity were assessed by TEE.Results Of the 57 (7.9%) patients with LAA thrombi identified by TEE, 29 (50.9%) were located at the LAA ostium, and 28 (49.1%) were in the LAA. The former showed higher motility following blood flow and heartbeats than the latter. The CCT detected 14 (48.3%) of the LAA-ostium thrombi but 25 (89.3%) of those in the LAA (p=0.001). IntroductionThe number of primordial follicles (PFs) in mammals determines the ovarian reserve, and impairment of primordial follicle formation (PFF) will cause premature ovarian insufficiency (POI).MethodsBy analyzing public single-cell RNA sequencing performed during PFF on mice and human ovaries, we identified novel functional genes and novel ligand-receptor interaction during PFF. Based on immunofluorescence and in vitro ovarian culture, we confirmed mechanisms of genes and ligand-receptor interaction in PFF. We also applied whole exome sequencing (WES) in 93 cases with POI and whole genome sequencing (WGS) in 465 controls. Variants in POI patients were further investigated by in silico analysis and functional verification.ResultsWe revealed ANXA7 (annexin A7) and GTF2F1 (general transcription factor IIF subunit 1) in germ cells to be novel potentially genes in promoting PFF. Ligand Mdk (midkine) in germ cells and its receptor Sdc1 (syndecan 1) in granulosa cells are novel interaction crucial for PFF. Based on immunofluorescence, we confirmed significant up-regulation of ANXA7 in PFs compared with germline cysts, and uniform expression of GTF2F1, MDK and SDC1 during PFF, in 25 weeks human fetal ovary. In vitro investigation indicated that Anxa7 and Gtf2f1 are vital for mice PFF by regulating Jak/Stat3 and Jnk signaling pathways, respectively. Ligand-receptor (Mdk-Sdc1) are crucial for PFF by regulating Pi3k-akt signaling pathway. Two heterozygous variants in GTF2F1, and one heterozygous variants in SDC1 were identified in cases, but no variant were identified in controls. The protein level of GTF2F1 or SDC1 in POI cases are significantly lower than that of controls, indicating the pathogenic effects of the two genes on ovarian function were dosage dependent.DiscussionOur study identified novel genes and novel ligand-receptor interaction during PFF, and further expanding the genetic architecture of POI.

Background: sex differences existed in animal behavioral adaption and activity rhythms when exposed to chronic disruption of the circadian rhythm. Whether these differences extend to cardiac performance has not been fully investigated by cardiac imaging technology. Methods: One hundred and thirty patients enrolled in this study. Patients were divided into the day shift (DS) group and the irregular shift (IRS) group based on whether involved in the night shift and the frequency of the night shift. Comparisons of clinical data and cardiac imaging parameters were performed to identify the sex difference in cardiac function in the participants with day shift work or irregular shifts. Results: The absolute value of GLS was significantly lower in male IRS group than in male DS group. In females, no significant difference was tested in left ventricular function between the two groups. Abstract Background Since the Non-pharmaceutical Intervention (NPI) by COVID-19 emerged, influenza activity has been somewhat altered. Objectives The aim of this study was to explore changes in influenza activities in the context of COVID-19 based on the sentinel hospitals/units in Guangdong, southern China. Methods The surveillance data in influenza-like illness (ILI) were collected from 21 cities in Guangdong between September 2017 and August 2021, while 43 hospitals/units were selected to analyze the predominant types of influenza, population characteristics, and seasonal features by three methods (the concentration ratio, the seasonal index, and the circulation distribution), based on a descriptive epidemiological approach. Results During the four consecutive influenza seasons, a total of 157345 ILIs were tested, of which 9.05% were positive for influenza virus (n = 14238), with the highest positive rates for both IAV (13.20%) and IBV (5.41%) in the 2018–2019 season. After the emergence of COVID-19, influenza cases decreased near to zero from March 2020 till March 2021, and the dominant type of influenza virus changed from IAV to IBV. Abstract Acquired resistance to chemotherapy is one of the major causes of mortality in advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, effective strategies are limited and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. In this study, through transcriptomic profiling analysis of 23 tumor tissues, we found that NOTCH3 was aberrantly highly expressed in chemoresistance NPC patients, with NOTCH3 overexpression being positively associated with poor clinical outcome. Mechanistically, using an established NPC cellular model, we demonstrated that enhancer remodeling driven aberrant hyperactivation of NOTCH3 in chemoresistance NPC. We further showed that NOTCH3 upregulates SLUG to induce chemo-resistance of NPC cells and higher expression of SLUG have poorer prognosis. Genetic or pharmacological perturbation of NOTCH3 conferred chemosensitivity of NPC in vitro and overexpression of NOTCH3 enhanced chemoresistance of NPC in vivo. Together, these data indicated that genome-wide enhancer reprogramming activates NOTCH3 to confer chemoresistance of NPC, suggesting that targeting NOTCH3 may provide a potential therapeutic strategy to effectively treat advanced chemoresistant NPC.

Abstract Background The job performance of individual employees determines the overall performance of an organization, and organizational support is known as an important resource at the organizational level to enhance job performance. Although nursing scholars have confirmed the crucial role of organizational support in enhancing job performance, there are no studies on whether psychological capital and organizational identification mediate the association between organizational support and job performance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of organizational support, psychological capital, and organizational identification on nurses’ job performance. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 455 nurses from 21 public hospitals in China. Instruments were perceived organizational support scale, task performance scale, contextual performance scale, Nurse Psychological Capital Questionnaire, and Organizational Identification Questionnaire. Survey data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS, and hypotheses were tested using path model analysis. Results Nurses’ perceived organizational support, psychological capital, organizational identification, and task/contextual performance were positively correlated in every two variables. Psychological capital played an important mediating role in perceived organizational support and task/contextual performance, as well as organizational identification. The multi-mediating effect of psychological capital and organizational identification on the relationship between organizational support and task/contextual performance were 0.14 and 0.25, respectively. Conclusions There was a positive correlation between organizational support and job performance among nurses. Psychological support, organizational identification and contextual performance played a chain mediation role in the relationship between organizational support on task performance in nurses. Nursing managers should pay more attention to enhancing nurses’ psychological capital and organizational identification through effective interventions to improve nurses’ job performance.

Abstract Background The dose–effect relationship of Long-snake-like moxibustion for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) remains poorly understood. In order to address this gap, we designed this trial to assess the association between different treatment duration of Long-snake-like moxibustion and its effects on CFS based on the combination measurements of the subjective patient-reported scales with objective medical infrared imaging technology─Thermal Texture Maps (TTM). Methods From December 2020 to January 2022, 60 female CFS patients were recruited and equally allocated to two groups: Group A, receiving 60-min Long-snake-like moxibustion per treatment, and Group B, receiving 30-min Long-snake-like moxibustion per treatment. The treatment was administered 3 times per week for a total of 4 weeks. The primary outcome was defined as the improvement of symptoms measured by the Fatigue scale-14 (FS-14), and secondary outcomes were designated as the improvement in Symptoms Scale of Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency, Self-rating depression scale, and Self-rating anxiety scale. TTM scanning was employed twice for CFS patients (before and after 4-week treatment) and once for Healthy control subjects (HCs). Results At week 4, the scores of FS-14 and Symptoms Scale of Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency in Group A were significantly lower than those in Group B (physical fatigue: 5.00 vs. 6.00, with 95%CI − 2.00 to 0.00, p = 0.003; FS-14 total score: 8.00 vs. 9.00, with 95%CI − 3.00 to 0.00, p = 0.012; total score of Symptoms Scale of Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency: 9.80 vs. 13.07, with 95%CI − 5.78 to − 0.76, P = 0.012). All thermal radiation values of the two groups increased, and statistical differences in ΔTs between Group A and HCs were not obtained. More significant correlations between symptoms improvements and ΔT changes were observed in Group A, and its ΔT changes in Upper Jiao, Shenque (CV8), Zhongwan (CV12), Danzhong (CV17), Zhiyang (GV9), Dazhui (GV14), upper arm, thoracic segments, lumbar segments, renal region, popliteal fossa strongly correlated with the improvement of Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency symptoms. Conclusions In the same course of treatment, the positive dose–effect relationship was found between the treatment duration of Long-snake-like moxibustion and CFS effect assessment. 60-min Long-snake-like moxibustion per treatment were associated with optimal clinical response and TTM improvement. To characterize the structure and dynamics of metal–-organic frameworks (MOFs) in-depth at the molecular level, it is necessary to pursue high-resolution solid-state magic angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Spectral resolution is usually affected by the quality of materials and various experimental conditions, of which magic angle (MA) accuracy is a crucial determinant. The current industrial criteria for MA calibration based on the common standard of KBr were found insufficient in guaranteeing optimal resolution MAS NMR for highly ordered MOFs. To drive towards higher-resolution MAS NMR spectroscopy, we propose a calibration protocol for more accurate MA with a higher-precision criterion based on 79Br MAS NMR of KBr, where the linewidth ratio of the fifth-order spinning sideband to the central band of KBr should be less than 1.00. As a result, ultrahigh-resolution 13C cross-polarization (CP) MAS NMR of MOF-5 is achieved with minimal linewidths as low as 4 Hz, and therefore MOF-5 can be used as a new standard convenient for verifying MA accuracy and also optimizing 13C CP conditions. Maintaining high-precision MA under variable temperature (VT) was found challenging on certain commercial MAS NMR probes, as was systematically investigated by VT NMR using KBr and MOF-5. Nevertheless, ultrahigh-resolution MAS NMR spectroscopy with stable MA under VT is employed to reveal fine structures and linker dynamics of a series of Zn-based MOFs with highly regulated structures. The ultrahigh-resolution NMR methodcan be generally applied to study a broad range of MOFs and other materials.

Abstract Background Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), the key catalytic subunit of polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), is overexpressed and plays an oncogenic role in various cancers through catalysis-dependent or catalysis-independent pathways. However, the related mechanisms contributing to ovarian cancer (OC) are not well understood. Methods The levels of EZH2 and H3K27me3 were evaluated in 105 OC patients by immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, and these patients were stratified based on these levels. Canonical and noncanonical binding sites of EZH2 were defined by chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-Seq). The EZH2 solo targets were obtained by integrative analysis of ChIP-Seq and RNA sequencing data. In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to determine the role of EZH2 in OC growth. Results We showed that a subgroup of OC patients with high EZH2 expression but low H3K27me3 exhibited the worst prognosis, with limited therapeutic options. We demonstrated that induction of EZH2 degradation but not catalytic inhibition profoundly blocked OC cell proliferation and tumorigenicity in vitro and in vivo. Integrative analysis of genome-wide chromatin and transcriptome profiles revealed extensive EZH2 occupancy not only at genomic loci marked by H3K27me3 but also at promoters independent of PRC2, indicating a noncanonical role of EZH2 in OC. Mechanistically, EZH2 transcriptionally upregulated IDH2 to potentiate metabolic rewiring by enhancing tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) activity, which contributed to the growth of OC. Conclusions These data reveal a novel oncogenic role of EZH2 in OC and identify potential therapeutic strategies for OC by targeting the noncatalytic activity of EZH2.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of press needle therapy on postoperative analgesia and other relevant complications in patients undergoing thoracoscopic pulmonary resection. Design: randomized, single-blind, controlled trial Setting: Teaching hospitals affiliated with universities. Interventions: Eighty-six patients were randomized into: the Acu group (press-needle group) and the control group Main outcome measures: Pain levels 24, 48, and three months after surgery were measured using the numeric rating scale (NRS). Perioperative hemodynamics, total and effective pressing numbers of patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA), and incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications were recorded. Peripheral blood samples were collected to measure the levels of inflammatory mediators Results: Acu group had significantly lower NRS scores at 24 and 48 h after operation (NRS scores on movement at 24 h after surgery: Acu vs. Control, 3 (2,3) vs. 3 (3,5), Z = −3.393, P
