Objective To evaluate the antioxidant effect of American ginseng Rhodiola formula on ethanol-induced oxidative damage in model mice, and to explore its mechanism of action, providing a scientific basis for the development of healthy food. Methods Mice were randomly divided into blank control group, acute oxidative injury model group, low dose (330 mg/kg), medium dose (660 mg/kg) and high dose (990 mg/kg) groups according to body weight, 10 mice in each group. Each dose group was given test samples by oral gavage. Blank control group and model group were given equal volume of distilled water. After continuous gavage for 30 days, 50% ethanol was intragastrically administered at 12 mL/kg after fasting for 16 h in each group except blank control group. Blood and liver were collected from mice 6 h later. Objective: To explore the neuroprotective effects of the Shaoyao Gancao decoction (SGD) against excitatory damage in PC12 cells and the role of the Src-NR2-nNOS pathway mediation by SGD in regulating γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-glutamate (Glu) homeostasis. Methods: N-Methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA) was used to establish a PC12 cell excitability injury model. To investigate the neuroprotective effect of SGD, a cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to determine PC12 cell viability, Annexin V/Propidium Iodide (Annexin V/PI) double staining was used to determine PC12 cell apoptosis, and Ca2+ concentration was observed using laser confocal microscopy. GABA receptor agonists and antagonists were used to analyze the neuroprotective interactions between γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and NMDA receptors. Additionally, molecular biology techniques were used to determine mRNA and protein expression in the Src-NR2-nNOS pathway. We analyzed the correlations between the regulatory sites of GABA and NMDA interactions, excitatory neurotoxicity, and brain damage at the molecular level. Results: NMDA excitotoxic injury manifested as a significant decrease in cell activity, increased apoptosis and caspase-3 protein expression, and a significant increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Administration of SGD, a GABAA receptor agonist (muscimol), or a GABAB receptor agonist (baclofen) decreased intracellular Ca2+ concentrations, attenuated apoptosis, and reversed NMDA-induced upregulation of caspase-3, Src, NMDAR2A, NMDAR2B, and nNOS. Unexpectedly, a GABAA receptor antagonist (bicuculline) and a GABAB receptor antagonist (saclofen) failed to significantly increase excitatory neurotoxicity. Conclusions: Taken together, these results not only provide an experimental basis for SGD administration in the clinical treatment of central nervous system injury diseases, but also suggest that the Src-NR2A-nNOS pathway may be a valuable target in excitotoxicity treatment.

Abstract Polymer-based circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials with the advantage of diversified structure, easy fabrication, high thermal stability, and tunable properties have garnered considerable attention. However, adequate and precise tuning over CPL in polymer-based materials remains challenging due to the difficulty in regulating chiral structures. Herein, visualized full-color CPL is achieved by doping red, green, and blue quantum dots (QDs) into reconfigurable blue phase liquid crystal elastomers (BPLCEs). In contrast to the CPL signal observed in cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers (CLCEs), the chiral 3D cubic superstructure of BPLCEs induces an opposite CPL signal. Notably, this effect is entirely independent of photonic bandgaps (PBGs) and results in a high g lum value, even without matching between PBGs and the emission bands of QDs. Meanwhile, the lattice structure of the BPLCEs can be reversibly switched via mechanical stretching force, inducing on-off switching of the CPL signals, and these variations can be further fixed using dynamic disulfide bonds in the BPLCEs. Moreover, the smart polymer-based CPL systems using the BPLCEs for anti-counterfeiting and information encryption have been demonstrated, suggesting the great potential of the BPLCEs-based CPL active materials.

ABSTRACT Antibiotics are widely used to treat bacterial infection and reduce the mortality rate, while antibiotic overuse can cause gut microbiota dysbiosis. The impact of antibiotics on gut microbiota is not fully understood. In our study, four commonly used antibiotics (ceftazidime, cefoperazone-sulbactam, imipenem-cilastatin, and moxifloxacin) were given subcutaneously to mice, and their impacts on the gut microbiota composition and serum cytokine levels were evaluated through 16S rRNA analysis and a multiplex immunoassay. Antibiotic treatment markedly reduced gut microbiota diversity and changed gut microbiota composition. Antibiotic treatment significantly increased and decreased the abundance of Firmicutes and Bacteroidota, respectively. The antibiotic treatments increased the abundance of opportunistic pathogens such as Enterococcus and decreased that of Lachnospiraceae and Muribaculaceae. For moxifloxacin, the significantly high abundance of Enterococcus and Klebsiella was observed after 14 and 21 days of treatment. However, a relatively low abundance of opportunistic pathogens was found after 14 days of imipenem-cilastatin treatment. Additionally, the serum levels of various pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, IL-12 (p70), and IL-17, significantly increased after 21 days of antibiotic treatments. Overall, these results provide a guide for rational use of antibiotics in clinical settings: short-term use of moxifloxacin is recommended with regard to gut microbiota health, and the 14-day use of imipenem-cilastatin may have a less severe impact than other antibiotics.IMPORTANCEAntibiotic treatments are directly associated with changes in gut microbiota and are effective against both pathogens and beneficial bacteria. Gut microbiota dysbiosis induced by antibiotic treatment could increase the risk of some diseases. Therefore, an adequate understanding of gut microbiota changes after antibiotic use is crucial. In this study, we investigated the effects of continuous treatment with antibiotics on gut microbiota, serum cytokines, and intestinal inflammatory response. Our results suggest that short-term use of moxifloxacin is recommended, and the 14-day use of imipenem-cilastatin may have a less severe effect on gut microbiota health than cefoperazone-sulbactam. These results provide useful guidance on the rational use of antibiotics with regard to gut microbiota health.

Periprosthetic infection and mechanical loosening are two leading causes of implant failure in orthopedic surgery that have devastating consequences for patients both physically and financially. Hence, advanced prostheses to simultaneously prevent periprosthetic infection and promote osseointegration are highly desired to achieve long-term success in orthopedics. In this study, we proposed a multifunctional three-dimensional printed porous titanium alloy prosthesis coated with imidazolium ionic liquid. The imidazolium ionic liquid coating exhibited excellent bacterial recruitment property and near-infrared (NIR) triggered photothermal bactericidal activity, enabling the prosthesis to effectively trap bacteria in its vicinity and kill them remotely via tissue-penetrating NIR irradiation. In vivo anti-infection and osseointegration investigations in infected animal models confirmed that our antibacterial prosthesis could provide long-term and sustainable prevention against periprosthetic infection, while promoting osseointegration simultaneously. It is expected to accelerate the development of next-generation prostheses and improve patient outcomes after prosthesis implantation.

Objective: To explore and validate the potential targets of Paeoniae Radix Alba (P. Radix, Bai Shao) in protecting against chemical liver injury through network pharmacology, molecular docking technology, and in vitro cell experiments. Methods: Network pharmacology was used to identify the common potential targets of P. Radix and chemical liver injury. Molecular docking was used to fit the components, which were subsequently verified in vitro. A cell model of hepatic fibrosis was established by activating hepatic stellate cell (HSC)-LX2 cells with 10 ng/mL transforming growth factor-β1. The cells were exposed to different concentrations of total glucosides of paeony (TGP), the active substance of P. Radix, and then evaluated using the cell counting kit-8 assay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and western blot. Results: Analysis through network pharmacology revealed 13 key compounds of P. Radix, and the potential targets for preventing chemical liver injury were IL-6, AKT serine/threonine kinase 1, jun proto-oncogene, heat shock protein 90 alpha family class A member 1 (HSP90AA1), peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARG), PTGS2, and CASP3. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis indicated the involvement of response to drugs, membrane rafts, and peptide binding. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis revealed that the main pathways involved lipid and atherosclerosis and chemical carcinogenesis-receptor activation. Paeoniflorin and albiflorin exhibited strong affinity for HSP90AA1, PTGS2, PPARG, and CASP3. Different concentrations of TGP can inhibit the expression of COL-Ⅰ, COL-Ⅲ, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, HSP-90α, and PTGS2 while increasing the expression of PPAR-γ and CASP3 in activated HSC-LX2 cells. Conclusion: P. Radix primarily can regulate targets such as HSP90AA1, PTGS2, PPARG, CASP3. TGP, the main active compound of P. Radix, protects against chemical liver injury by reducing the inflammatory response, activating apoptotic proteins, and promoting the apoptosis of activated HSCs.

ABSTRACTGuiding the transformation of cities and regions towards more sustainable pathways requires a deep understanding of the complexities of socio-ecological systems. This entails gaining insights into the status and trends of biodiversity, ecosystems and their services (BES), as well as navigating complex governance and power structures, particularly in contested spaces. Digital dashboards, understood as visual representations of key information, could effectively communicate complex BES information to decision makers and planners in landscape and urban planning, enabling more informed decisions. While dashboards are increasingly being used in spatial-related applications, the lack of scientific understanding regarding the emerging applications of BES information in dashboards underscores the pressing need for research and review in this area. This study aims to identify and analyze contemporary case studies of BES dashboard applications to explore their potential role, which can effectively support decision-making in landscape and urban planning. We develop a conceptual framework of interlinkages between BES dashboards and landscape planning processes and apply this framework to analyze 12 state-of-the-art BES dashboard applications from Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. Our results reflect emerging practices of dashboards visualizing BES information, which varied in purposes, content, functionalities, visual design, and output features. The dashboards represented/covered a total of 66 BES indicators, including tree health, forest status and functionality, green and blue spaces connectivity, and specific components of biodiversity. Further research on user demands and real-world impacts is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of BES dashboards in informing landscape and urban planning for people and nature.

Due to the presence of the new magnetic component of magductance (or magnetic-inductace), the traditional scalar magnetic circuit theory is evolved into the vector magnetic circuit theory. Further research is still required to determine whether the vector magnetic circuit theory and the current electromagnetic theory are compatible with one another. In this paper, the reluctance and magductance parameters of the magnetic circuit are derived using electromagnetic field theory, vector magnetic circuit theory, and electrical circuit theory by taking a laminated magnetic core as an example. Additionally, based on the derived general expressions for the magnetic circuit parameters, the law of magnetic circuit parameters changing with magnetic circuit frequency is plotted and summarized, and the compatibility of electromagnetic field theory, vector magnetic circuit theory, and electrical circuit theory is analyzed. Finally, combined with the magnetoelectric power law, the derived general expressions for the magnetic circuit parameters have been verified by the experiments with the Epstein frame.

3D photonic crystals (PCs) attract attention due to their unique optical properties but printing of colloidal particles is limited by lack of control over the assembly. Here, the authors demonstrate a continuous digital light processing 3D printing strategy using hydrogen bond assisted colloidal inks for fabricating well-assembled 3D PC structures.

Abstract Background Pneumonia is a common complication of influenza and closely related to mortality in influenza patients. The present study examines cytokines as predictors of the prognosis of influenza-associated pneumonia. Methods This study included 101 inpatients with influenza (64 pneumonia and 37 non-pneumonia patients). 48 cytokines were detected in the serum samples of the patients and the clinical characteristics were analyzed. The correlation between them was analyzed to identify predictive biomarkers for the prognosis of influenza-associated pneumonia. Results Seventeen patients had poor prognosis and developed pneumonia. Among patients with influenza-associated pneumonia, the levels of 8 cytokines were significantly higher in those who had a poor prognosis: interleukin-6 (IL-6), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), monocyte colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), monocyte chemoattractant protein-3, Interleukin-2 receptor subunit alpha and Hepatocyte growth factor. Correlation analysis showed that the IL-6, G-CSF, M-CSF, IFN-γ, and MCP-1 levels had positive correlations with the severity of pneumonia. IL-6 and G-CSF showed a strong and positive correlation with poor prognosis in influenza-associated pneumonia patients. The combined effect of the two cytokines resulted in the largest area (0.926) under the receiver-operating characteristic curve. Conclusion The results indicate that the probability of poor prognosis in influenza patients with pneumonia is significantly increased. IL-6, G-CSF, M-CSF, IFN-γ, and MCP-1 levels had a positive correlation with the severity of pneumonia. Importantly, IL-6 and G-CSF were identified as significant predictors of the severity of influenza-associated pneumonia.

Immunosuppressed patients can contract parvovirus B19, and some may experience hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Herein, we describe the first report of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in a heart-lung transplant patient with concomitant parvovirus B19 infection. The patient was treated with intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) and the features of HLH were remission. This instance emphasizes the significance of parvovirus B19 monitoring in transplant patients with anemia; if HLH complicates the situation, IVIG may be an adequate remedy. Finally, a summary of the development in diagnosing and managing parvovirus B19 infection complicated by HLH is provided.

Recombinant trimeric SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein with PIKA (polyI:C) adjuvant induces potent and durable neutralizing antibodies that protect against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants. The immunoglobulin subclasses of viral-specific antibodies remain unknown, as do their glycosylation status on Fc regions. In this study, we analyzed immunoglobulins adsorbed by plate-bound recombinant trimeric SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein from serum of Cynomolgus monkey immunized by recombinant trimeric SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein with PIKA (polyI:C) adjuvant. The results showed that IgG1 was the dominant IgG subclass as revealed by ion mobility mass spectrometry. The average percentage of Spike protein-specific IgG1 increased to 88.3% as compared to pre-immunization. Core fucosylation for Fc glycopeptide of Spike protein-specific IgG1 was found to be higher than 98%. These results indicate that a unique Th1-biased, IgG1-dominant antibody response was responsible for the effectiveness of PIKA (polyI:C) adjuvant. Vaccine-induced core-fucosylation of IgG1 Fc region may reduce incidence of severe COVID-19 disease associated with overstimulation of FCGR3A by afucosylated IgG1.

Patients with hepatic cirrhosis are more susceptible to Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and colonization with Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile). Asymptomatic C. difficile colonization is thought to predispose to subsequent CDI. However, the dynamic gut microbiota changes remain unclear. In this study, we used 16S rRNA gene sequencing to longitudinally monitor alterations in the intestinal microbiota of 22 hepatic cirrhosis patients with toxigenic C. difficile colonization at admission (pre-CDI) and developed CDI during hospitalization, subdivided into pre-CDI and CDI. 21 hospitalized cirrhotic patients without C. difficile colonization served as controls (HC). Compared with HC, pre-CDI and CDI samples had significantly decreased microbial richness and diversity, a significantly higher relative abundance of opportunistic pathogen Enterococcus, and a lower relative abundance of beneficial symbionts, such as Faecalibacterium, Dorea, and Roseburia. Three biomarkers showed high accuracy for distinguishing pre-CDI samples from HC with an area under the curve (AUC) up to 0.81. In conclusion, our study explored the changes of the gut microbiome before and after CDI. The gut microbial richness as well as diversity in CDI patients were notably reduced, relative to controls. Imbalance of the intestinal flora may be related to the risk for development of CDI. Identifying key members of the gut microbiota and illustrating their roles and mechanisms of action in CDI development are important avenues for future research.

In fast urbanizing cities, fragmentation of urban green infrastructure (UGI) commonly arises due to lack of efficient planning to maintain the quantity and improve their quality. As ecological processes and landscape patterns are closely intertwined, it is a prerequisite to investigate landscape structure when aiming at better provision of ecosystem services. This study integrates remote sensing, geographic information system, combination of landscape metrics, and multi-variated statistics to delineate structural attributes influencing UGI Quality (UGIQ). We exemplify our methodology in three capital cities of Indian Himalayan states at administrative ward level. The UGIQ is derived by comparing landscape characters defined by nine metrics denoting area, shape, and aggregation attributes. By employing principal component analysis (PCA) and multi-collinearity diagnosis, a set of quality defining metrics are obtained for each city. Further, to gain insightful spatial basis for improving connectivity, Morphological Spatial Pattern Analysis (MSPA) is used to visualize and classify patches into seven morphological classes. Landscape characterization highlights a pattern of low-quality wards having a limited number and area of UGI patches in urban centers, and high-quality wards with complex and aggregated patches towards fringes. PCA identifies the positive influence of area (LPI, AREA_MN) and shape (LSI, FRAC_AM, CONTIG) metrics and negative influence of patch distance (ENN_MN) and fragmentation (PD) on UGIQ in different combinations across the cities. Higher shares of morphological core and edge classes are recognized for overall UGIQ improvement. The results provide quantitative measures to develop integrated spatial planning strategies.

Substantial ammonia (NH3) losses from rice production result in poor nitrogen (N) use efficiency and environmental damage. A data synthesis using the published literature (127 studies with 700 paired observations), combined with an incubation experiment using 50 paddy soils from across China, were conducted to improve the current understanding of the NH3 loss from paddy rice and its drivers. The efficacy of the urease inhibitor Limus® for reducing NH3 losses was also evaluated. The mean loss of N, through NH3 volatilization, was 16.2% of the urea-N applied to paddy rice. The largest losses were from double rice cropping systems, and losses increased with the N application rate, surface application of N, unstable N types (ammonium bicarbonate and urea), and high floodwater pH. Under simulated flooded conditions, urea amended with Limus® reduced NH3 loss by 36.6%, compared to urea alone, but floodwater pH had a significant effect on inhibitor efficacy. Key driving factors were air temperature, N application rate, and floodwater pH. The effectiveness and limitations of the inhibitor in NH3 emission mitigation was examined, as well as its basis as one means of N pollution control in paddy rice cropping systems.

Constipation, a gastrointestinal function disorder, is one of the side effects of paclitaxel (PTX) chemotherapy. Shenhuang plaster (SHP) application on the Shenque acupoint promotes gut motility in clinical settings. In this study, we elucidated the ingredients in SHP and evaluated its effects on PTX-induced constipation using a tumour-bearing mouse model. SHP was prepared using the traditional Chinese plaster preparation method. The ingredients were analysed using UPLC-MS/MS and identified via screening in a standard drug database. The gastrointestinal transit was evaluated by the movement of a fluorescein-labelled dextran in the gastrointestinal tract. A histological study of the mucosa was carried out after haematoxylin and eosin staining. mRNA expression was assessed using real-time RT-PCR, and the foetal microbiota composition was elucidated through 16 s rDNA sequencing and BLAST analysis. Our results indicate that the application of SHP attenuated weight gain inhibition by PTX; however, no inhibitory effect was observed on tumour growth. PTX-induced sluggish intestine, villus, and mucosal base layer damage were significantly improved following the application of SHP. Further, SHP enhanced the stimulation efficiency of PTX on TLR4 and its downstream cytokines, as well as on IL-1β in intestinal cells. SHP combined with PTX reshaped the microbiota, which showed beneficial effects on health. Hence, these results provide evidence that SHP alleviates PTX-induced constipation and intestinal morphological damage but augments the effects of PTX on the expression of cytokines in the TLR4 pathway and IL-1β. Therefore, we propose that SHP stimulates the host immune response to eradicate cancer cells.

The paper aimed to find an accurate and fast model to study the electromagnetic (EM) thermal (TH) filed coupling calculation for the TH analysis in the flux switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine. It is extremely important to know the coupling mechanism between the EM field and TH field for the designers and users of the FSPM machines. Firstly, in order to study the EM properties of the silicon steel sheet with the temperature, the Epstein frame experiment was set up, where the effect of dc magnetic bias on the core loss is also considered. In order to save the computation time, the bidirectional coupling model based on 2D finite element (FE) EM field and 3D asymmetric minimum element TH field is established, and the steady state and transient TH fields are calculated, respectively. For the transient bidirectional coupling of EM field and TH field, a method based on the adaptive adjustment calculation step is adopted to improve the computing speed. The temperature rise experiment of the prototype was carried out to verify the accuracy of the proposed coupling model. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results.

Karst is a central focus in the field of carbonate reservoir geology. Fracture dissolution enlargement is an important mechanism for the formation of high-quality reservoirs. This study performed four carbonate fracture dissolution enlargement (CFDE) experiments under a confining pressure of 20 MPa, and temperatures ranged from 40 to 60°C. CO2-saturated deionized water was injected into artificial carbonate fractures at approximately 11.5 ml/h for 96, 208, 216, and 216 hours. The water flowing out of the fractures was sampled every 8 h to monitor the concentration of Ca2+. SEM photomicrographs and 3D laser scanning images were taken before and after the CFDE experiments to observe the dissolution process of the fracture surfaces. After the CFDE experiment, the hydraulic apertures (Bh) of sample 1 (S1), sample 3 (S3), and sample 4 (S4) were enlarged by 3.4, 1.4, and 1.2 times, respectively. The aperture of sample 2 (S2) was slightly reduced in the early stage of the experiment. The experimental results of this study demonstrate that Bh can be divided into three categories as a function of time: S type, logarithmic type, and polynomial type. The laboratory dissolution rate of S1, S2, S3, and S4 were 2.50 × 10−6, 3.11 × 10−6, 2.70 × 10−6, and 3.04 × 10−6 mol/m2/s. The pattern of fracture dissolution is closely related to the Peclet and Damkohler numbers. The dissolution processes of high Peclet and Damkohler numbers lead to a pattern of obvious channelization. The Peclet and Damkohler numbers of the S3 CFDE experiment were the highest, and the channelizing dissolution is the most notable in S3 of the four fractures. A dissolution process at low temperature has a higher Peclet number and thus leads to obvious channelizing dissolution. Mineral heterogeneities in the rock also play a significant role in channelizing dissolution. A preferential channel typically develops in places where bioclasts are accumulated or the calcite veins are distributed.

Reference intervals (RIs) for serum IgG subclasses vary greatly among different geographical regions. The present study aimed to establish RIs for serum IgG subclasses in Chinese children, which is essential for interpretation of laboratory findings and making clinical decisions.This study was performed in accordance with guideline C28-A3, proposed by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute. In total, 607 apparently healthy Chinese children were enrolled, and serum levels of IgG subclasses were measured. The aim of this study is to provide an integrated indicator framework for the Assessment of Multifunctional Green Infrastructure (AMGI) to advance the evolution of the Green Infrastructure (GI) concept, and simultaneously deliver an approach do conduct a GI assessment using remote sensing datasets at multiple spatial and spectral scales. Based on this framework, we propose an explicit methodology for AMGI, while addressing the multi-dimensional pillars (ecology, socio-economy, socio-culture, and human health) for urban sustainability and the multifunctionality of GI. For the purpose of validation, we present the extensive process of employing our framework and methodology, and give an illustrative case exemplified in a European city, i.e., Leipzig, Germany. In this exemplification, we deployed three stages regarding how a single assessment can be conducted: from conceptual framework for priority setting, contextual assessment, to retrospective assessment. In this illustrative case study, we enclosed 18 indicators, as well as identified hot and cold spots of selected GI functions and their multifunctionality. A clear framework and methodology is crucial for the sustainable management of spatially oriented GI plans over time and for different stakeholder groups. Therefore, GI planners and policy makers may now refer to our integrative indicator framework and provided application methodology as common grounds for a better mutual understanding amongst scientists and stakeholders. This study contributes to discourses regarding the enhancement of the GI concept and is expected to provoke more discussion on the improvements of high-quality Remote Sensing (RS) data as well as the development of remote sensing-based methods at multiple spatial, temporal, and spectral scales to support GI plans.

The positioning technologies play a crucial role in the application of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, based on research TI CC2530 chip and ZigBee protocol stack, using Received Signal Strength Indication and the trilateration positioning technology, the wireless sensor network indoor positioning system was achieved. Take CC2530 chip as the control core, the system hardware was realized and ZigBee 2007 / PRO protocol stack was amended. RSSI technology was used for distance measurement, and finally the blind node positioning was implemented by trilateration method. Has been tested, the system is able to achieve indoor node localization features, and has a certain practical significance.

A facile fabrication of photonic crystals (PCs) with an eye pattern similar to peacock tail feathers has been demonstrated by self-assembly of colloidal particles in a sandwich mode. The sandwich mode is formed by superhydrophilic flat substrate sandwiching the poly(styrene-methyl methacrylate-arylic acid) (Poly(St-MMA-AA)) latex suspension (2 wt%) by the hydrophobic one. The patterns are characterized by optical microscopy images, reflection spectra, and the relative scanning electronic microscope images. This work will provide beneficial help for the understanding of the self-assembly process of colloidal crystals.

Binary transition metal telluride (MTe2-x, 0 ≤ x ≤ 1) nanocrystals (NCs) display fascinating structureand composition-dependent magnetic properties for potential applications in spintronic devices. However, achieving precise control over the morphology and composition of MTe2-x NCs during synthesis poses significant challenges due to the limited reactivity between the metal and Te as well as the ambiguous reaction mechanisms. Here, we demonstrate a general synthetic approach to produce a diverse range of MTe2-x NCs, including Cr2Te3, MnTe2, FeTe2, CoTe2-x, and NiTe2-x. Specifically, a series of NiTe2-x nanosheets were synthesized by manipulating the feed ratio of Te: Ni and reaction temperature. Our results indicate that the formation mechanism of these binary MTe2-x NCs can be elucidated through the tellurization of preformed metal oxide nanoparticles. The binary MTe2-x NCs displayed different magnetic behaviors including ferromagnetic FeTe2 and Cr2Te3, paramagnetic CoTe2-x and NiTe2-x, and antiferromagnetic MnTe2. Our work establishes a foundation for the synthesis of magnetic MTe2-x NCs with precisely tailored morphology and composition and emergent magnetic characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
