Imported soybeans have dominated national soybeans for more than two decades. To reduce dependence on imported soybeans, efforts are needed to maximize national soybean production and productivity through technological innovation. Soybean high yielding varieties are one of the easiest technologies to be adopted by farmers. The assessment aims to evaluate perceptions, attitudes and satisfaction of farmers with the attributes of superior soybean varieties. The assessment was carried out using a survey method of soybean farmers totaling 32 people in The Kebumen Regency. High yielding soybeans varieties studied is Grobogan, Anjasmoro and Gema varieties. Attributes evaluated are plant performance, yield, soybeans price selling, easier seeds to obtain, harvest age, the suitability of seed size to demand and pest resistance. Farmers’ perceptions were mapped using perceptual mapping, farmer attitudes were analyzed using the Fishbein Multiattribute Model and farmer satisfaction was analyzed using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). The results of the study showed that farmers had better perceptions, attitudes and satisfaction towards Grobogan and Anjasmoro varieties compared to Gema variety. Grobogan and Anjasmoro varieties were perceived as more excellent because they had more attractive plant diversity, higher production, easier seeds to obtain and more resistance to pests-diseases. Farmers showed a more accepting attitude to cultivating Grobogan and Anjasmoro varieties with Fishbein Multiattribute scores of 45.63 and 43.93, while the Gema variety only scored 39.64. Farmers have a higher level of satisfaction with Grobogan and Anjasmoro variety with CSI values of 52.11% and 50.37% compared to the Gema variety of 44.66%.

The serious problems of sandy soils for crop development are low water-holding capacity, nutrient retention, and low content of all nutrients. The objective of the study was to increase the nutrient content of sandy soil and evaluate nutrient types that mostly affect the high shallot yield with reasonable economic values. The field experiment was conducted on the upland sandy loam soil. Six treatments consisting of complete nutrients, N-, P-, K-, Mg- and S-omission tests were arranged in a randomly completed block design with four replicates. The observed parameters included soil physicochemical properties, tissue nutrient content, growth, yield, and input-output of shallot cultivation. The results showed that N, P, K, Mg and S application successfully increased shallot bulb, achieving 11.43 t ha−1 on sandy soil. The order of shallot tissue content was K > N > P~Mg > S, where the S, P, N, and Mg are limiting factors, as revealed by significantly lower relative yield (varying from 79 to 88%). The highest weight loss during storage occurred for S-omission treatment (40 to 60%), indicating insufficient S tissue is the most responsible for the quality of shallot. The complete nutrient treatment gave the highest income (7446.09 USD ha−1) with a revenue cost ratio of 2.41 compared to other treatments. The tolerance limit for price reductions that do not cause losses was 58.59%.

Kedelai domestik lebih aman dikonsumsi dibandingkan kedelai transgenik, serta memiliki kadar protein lebih tinggi dibanding kedelai impor. Pengembangan kedelai domestik masih prospektif, namun daya saing kedelai domestik terhadap kedelai impor semakin berat akibat melimpahnya kedelai impor. Kebijakan pemerintah berupa input-output diharapkan mampu melindungi kedelai domestik agar mampu berdaya saing. Penelitian ini untuk menganalisis daya saing kedelai domestik serta tingkat proteksi kebijakan pemerintah terhadap kedelai domestik di Kabupaten Grobogan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di sentra produksi kedelai, yaitu Desa Panunggalan, Kecamatan Pulokulon, Kabupaten Grobogan. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui survei terhadap 30 petani kedelai pada bulan April 2019. Data primer adalah data usahatani kedelai yang ditanam pada awal musim hujan tahun 2017/2018. Data dianalisis menggunakan Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa usahatani kedelai domestik di Kabupaten Grobogan terbukti memiliki keunggulan komparatif dan kompetitif dengan nilai PCR 0,88 dan DRCR 0,92. Kebijakan pemerintah terhadap output, input dan output-input pada usahatani kedelai domestik bersifat memproteksi kedelai domestik dan menguntungkan petani sehingga petani memperoleh surplus lebih tinggi. Kebijakan pemerintah berupa subsidi diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya saing kedelai domestik menjadi lebih kuat. kata kunci: Daya Saing, Kedelai, PAM Analisis. ABSTRACT Domestic soybeans are safer to consume than transgenic soybeans and have higher protein content than imported soybeans. Domestic soybean development is still prospective, but domestic soybeans' competitiveness is getting more massive due to the abundance of imported soybeans. Government policy in the form of input-output is expected to protect domestic soybeans from being competitive. This research analyzes the competitiveness and level of protection of government policies on domestic soybeans in Grobogan Regency. The research was conducted in soybean production centers, which is Panunggalan Village, Pulokulon District, Grobogan Regency. The research data was obtained through a survey of 30 soybean farmers in April 2019. Primary data is data on soybean farming planted at the beginning of the 2017/2018 rainy season. Data analyzed using the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The results indicate that domestic soybean farming in Grobogan Regency is proven to have comparative and competitive advantages with PCR values 0.88 and DRCR 0.92. Government policy on output, input, and output-input of domestic soybean farming protects domestic soybeans and benefits farmers to get a higher surplus. Government policy in the form of subsidies is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic soybeans. keywords: competitiveness, soybean, PAM analysis.

The growth of the Indonesian population has led to an increase in the demand for rice, which the country has yet to satisfy. Indonesia needs a comprehensive strategy that integrates meaningful efforts to increase its agricultural production. This study aims to review the examined trends in rice yield in Indonesia for 70 years after Indonesia’s independence (1945–2016) followed by the identification of the application technology and factors that contribute to increasing rice yields to forecast sustainable food security scenarios up to 2030. This article reviews the results of research on rice production technology in Indonesia from 1945 to 2016, and the outlook for 2030. This paper examines the main points of the Indonesian transformation of rice technology: improvement of rice varieties, integrated crop management, innovations in agricultural machinery, and the Integrated Cropping Calendar Information System (ICCIS). We found that transformation has helped Indonesia increased its rice yields from 3 t ha−1 prior to 1961 to 4.6 t ha−1 in 1985, stagnated in 1990, and increased again in 2017 to 5.46 t ha−1. The increase in yield was sustained by an increase in the harvested area owing to cropping index (CI) innovation. Food security and sustainable development remain the primary goals of Indonesia’s agricultural sector. The application of appropriate technologies and institutional innovations can assist Indonesia in achieving its food security. Therefore, the transformation of technological innovations will continue to be an essential driver of future agricultural growth, including greater use of crop varieties, machinery, and land/institutional reforms.

Rice production in the karst dryland is still low, due to soil characteristics that lack nutrient availability. Meanwhile, upland rice has received less attention, and it has not been used to its full potential. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of various combinations of inorganic fertilizers, poultry manure, and upland rice varieties on the production and economic value of karst dryland in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. This experiment was arranged in a factorial design, with inorganic fertilizers, poultry manure, and upland rice varieties set in a randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was a combination of inorganic and organic fertilizer rates: 72 N kg ha−1 + 26 P2O5 kg ha−1 + 25 K2O ha−1 + 3 t ha−1 organic, 92 N kg ha−1 + 36 P2O5 kg ha−1 + 30 K2O kg ha−1 + 2 t ha−1 organic, 112 N kg ha−1 + 46 P2O5 kg ha−1 + 35 K2O kg ha−1 + 1 t ha−1 organic. The second factor is the upland varieties of Inpago 8, Inpago 10, and Inpago 12 and lowland variety Inpari 42 Agritan GSR, as checked. Based on the study, we concluded that the combination of 92 N kg ha−1 + 36 P2O5 kg ha−1 + 30 K2O kg ha−1 + 2 t ha−1 poultry manure fertilizers with Inpago 8 resulted in an IDR profit of 23,586,000 ha−1, and it is the most recommendable fertilizer and variety combination to be developed in the karst dryland, in consideration of land fertility and sustainability.

The problem of rice farming in Indonesia is the increasing extent of nutrient-poor land due to the lack of addition of organic matter and continuously inundated irrigated rice fields, causing the production of greenhouse gas emissions, such as methane gas (CH4), to increase. The study aims to determine the impact of organic fertilizers and rice varieties on rice yield, methane emissions, and the feasibility of farming in nutrient-poor rice fields. The study used a randomized block design in factorial with four replicates. The first factor is the type of organic fertilizers (compost of rice straw and goat manure), and the second factor is the variety of rice (Ciherang, Inpari 20, and Inpari 30). The results showed that the productivity of Inpari 20 (8.02 t·ha−1) was significantly higher than that of Inpari 30 (6.10 t·ha−1) and Ciherang (6.91 t·ha−1). The highest yields of Harvest Dry Grain (HDG) to Milled Dry Grain (MDG) were the Inpari 20 (88.23%), Inpari 30 (86.94%), and Ciherang (85.04%). Methane (CH4) emissions were highest in the Ciherang variety (56.4 kg h−1 season−1), followed by Inpari 30 (40.8 kg h−1 season−1), and lowest in Inpari 20 (22.3 kg h−1 season−1). Compared to Inpari 30 and Ciherang varieties, the Inpari 20 variety with rice straw compost has broad development viability in nutrient-poor paddy fields (highest R/C ratio and break-even point). More research on organic rice is needed to determine the productivity and emissions (methane, nitrite, carbon dioxide).

Climate disasters pose a risk to residents’ well-being globally. However, information about the impact of climate disasters among urban and rural residents remains lacking, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to fill the gap by investigating the impact of climate disaster on subjective well-being based on urban and rural typology model. The data were cross-sectional, involving 7110 Indonesian residents who had experienced climate disasters, 3813 from urban areas and 3297 from rural areas. An ordered probit model was employed to estimate the impact of climate disasters on subjective well-being (i.e., happiness and life satisfaction). In general, the empirical results show that climate disasters do not significantly affect the happiness of Indonesian residents, but they significantly and negatively impact their life satisfaction. Further analysis reveals that climate disasters impact urban and rural residents differently. The subjective well-being of rural residents is more severely affected than those living in urban areas. Further estimation also indicated that climate disaster significantly reduces residents’ subjective well-being at the lowest income level for both rural and urban residents. Our finding confirms that rural residents remain the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

Kabupaten Grobogan sebagai salah satu sentra produksi kedelai nasional dituntut untuk meningkatkan produksi dan produktivitas kedelai nasional. Upaya yang dilakukan yaitu dengan meningkatkan kinerja usahatani kedelai melalui peningkatan efisiensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat efisiensi teknis usahatani kedelai serta faktor-faktor determinan yang mempengaruhi efisiensi dan sumber-sumber inefisiensi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Pulokulon dan Purwodadi, Kabupaten Grobogan. Data primer diperoleh melalui metode survey terhadap 60 responden pada bulan April 2019. Data primer yang digali adalah data usahatani kedelai pada Musim Tanam (MT) I Tahun 2018-2019. Data dianalisis menggunakan Frontier 4.1 sehingga diperoleh fungsi produksi stochastic frontier. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata efisiensi teknis usahatani kedelai relatif tinggi yaitu mencapai 0,81. faktor determinasi yang mempengaruhi efisiensi teknis adalah luas lahan, jumlah benih, jumlah tenaga kerja luar keluarga, pestisida, dummy varietas dan dummy lokasi kecamatan. Sumber-sumber inefisiensi teknis berasal dari umur petani, pengalaman usahatani dan intensitas pendidikan non formal/penyuluhan. Semakin lama pengalaman petani dan semakin banyak intensitas penyuluhan yang diikuti petani maka akan semakin menurunkan inefisiensi teknis. Efisiensi teknis dapat ditingkatkan dengan memaksimalkan sumberdaya yang tersedia dengan teknologi yang sudah ada, serta meminimalisir sumber-sumber inefisiensi.

This study aimed to determine plant performance and added value of soybean farming by applying tillage and plant spacing. This study was conducted by two treatments, namely treatment I: no-tillage and scatter planting system on soybean farming, and treatment II: tillage and plant spacing on soybean farming. Primary data were in the form of plant performance, production, and soybean farming. The data were analyzed descriptively using average plant growth and productivity, RCR, BCR, and MBCR. The results of the study showed that the soybean farming with tillage and plant spacing resulted in better growth, a higher number of branches, number of pods, and productivity than the existing farmer. The soybean productivity increased by 19.73%. Tillage and plant spacing were proven to provide added value, i.e., increasing farmers' income by IDR 3,808,000/ha (an increase of 19.72%) and farmers' profits by IDR 2,523,682/ha (an increase of 26.61%). Even though the proportion of costs increased by 13.07%, there was a higher increase in the proportion of profits by 21.01%. The MBCR value of 1.96 showed that when the farming cost increased by IDR 1,000 due to tillage and plant spacing, the profit increased by IDR 1,960.

The study aims to analyze the increase in farmers' knowledge and attitudes to technological innovations in soybean production using the dissemination method. The study was carried out from October 2020 to January 2021 by combining the dissemination of meetings information and technology demonstrations in the Grobogan Regency. Data collection used a survey before (pre-test) and after (post-test) evaluation in the dissemination implementation. Respondents were determined using purposive sampling, 35 cooperative farmers in disseminating soybean technology innovation activities. The data were descriptively analyzed using the average value, percentage, and paired sample t-test. The enhancement of farmers' knowledge is analyzed based on the percentage of correct answers by farmers. Changes in farmers' attitude-response are implemented into a radar graph. The study results showed that after attending meetings information and technology demonstrations, the farmers' knowledge of soybean production technology increased by 21.1%. The pre-test results showed that farmers already had a positive attitude and response to soybean production technology, with an average score of 2.64. The post-test results showed that farmers' positive attitudes and responses increased, with an average score of 2.84.

One of the technological components to attain soybean productivity increase is using a modern varieties. This research aims to evaluate the introduction of a new modern variety of soybean, such as Bromo variety, in Klego Subdistrict, Boyolali District, Central Java on first crop season 1998/1999 season. The objectives of the research were to know the effect of the introduction Bromo variety of soybean on soybean productivity, profit and employment, as well as to know the production efficiency.This research used a cross-sectional data of 50 sample farmers consisted of 25 Bromo variety farmers and 25 Local variety farmers. To know the effect of Bromo variety introduction on productivity, profit and employment, it was used regression analysis with Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. To test the production efficiency of inputs use was used allocative efficiency test.The results showed that Bromo variety introduction were able to increase productivity 501.71 kg/ha, to increase profit Rp 1,852,370/ha and to increase employment 14.25 mandays/ha. The allocative efficiency test showed that the farmers of Bromo variety and the farmers of Local variety hadn't allocated their inputs efficiently yet.
