The first step in achieving a successful meniscal repair is adequate visualization of and access to the meniscus to be repaired. With concomitant pathologies such as anterior cruciate ligament deficiency or a tight varus knee, meniscal regions such as the posterior horn of the medial meniscus can be quite difficult to visualize and access without causing iatrogenic injury to surrounding cartilage.
