Prostate cell proliferation, driven by testosterone, is a major characteristic of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). GV1001, a human telomerase reverse transcriptase catalytic subunit, is an injectable formulation used as a cancer vaccine. It functions as a cell penetrating peptide to regulate cell proliferation. Here, we found that GV1001 effectively suppressed proliferation of prostatic stromal myofibroblasts (WPMY-1) and prostatic epithelial cells (RWPE-1 and WPE-NA22) treated with dihydrotestosterone. Also, GV1001 bound to androgen receptors (ARs) in the cytosol of stromal and epithelial cells. In an experimental animal model implanted with an infusion pump for spontaneous and continuous release of testosterone, revealed that GV1001 reduced prostatic hypertrophy and inhibited the cell proliferation and the expression of Ki67, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, and prostate specific antigen. In addition, GV1001 prevented fibrosis of the prostate by downregulating expression of prostatic epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins such as transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, Snail, Slug, N-cadherin, and Vimentin, and by up-regulating E-cadherin. Taken together, these results suggest that GV1001, which suppresses TGF-β-mediated EMT by outcompeting testosterone for binding to AR, is a potential therapeutic drug for BPH accompanied by prostatic fibrosis.

Carbon supported palladium-copper (Pd-Cu) bimetallic catalysts (PdxCuy/Cs) are fabricated by modified polyol method to enhance the reaction rate of formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR) and the performance of direct formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) through weakening the bond with the intermediate of formic acid. According to the evaluations, when the ratio of Pd and Cu is 3 : 1 (Pd3Cu1/C), catalytic activity is best. Its maximum current density is 1.68-times better than that of commercial Pd/C. Even from the optical and spectroscopic characterizations, such as TEM, EDS, XPS and XRD, Pd3Cu1/C shows an optimal particle size and a higher degree of alloying. This is because in Pd3Cu1/C catalyst, the d-band center that induces the weakening in adsorption of formate anion groups to Pd surface is most positively shifted, and this positive shift promotes the reaction rate of FAOR, which is the rate determining step. When the performance of DFAFCs using the PdxCuy/C catalysts is measured, the maximum power density (MPD) of DFAFC using Pd3Cu1/C catalyst is 158 mW cm−2, and this is the best MPD compared to that of DFAFCs using other PdxCuy/C catalysts. In addition, in a comparison with commercial Pd/C catalyst, when the same amount of catalyst is loaded, MPD of DFAFC using Pd3Cu1/C catalyst is 22.5% higher than that of DFAFC using commercial Pd/C.

PdBi bimetallic catalysts are synthesized while their catalytic activity and stability for formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR) and direct formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) performance are evaluated. According to investigations, Pd2Bi1/C catalyst including low Pd amount promotes oxygen desorption with enhancement in CO poisoning resistance. With that, indirect formic acid oxidation reaction (IFAOR) and its stability are improved. To further improve the FAOR, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) surfactant is contained due to its amphiphilic property reducing Bi aggregation. To determine optimal amount of the PVP, analysis using TEM and XPS is performed and the results are verified by density functional theory (DFT). According to TEM, in 0.22 PVP-Pd2Bi1/C catalyst, PdBi has small size (∼5 nm) and is well-dispersed with widest Ed- EF of 3.85 eV, proving the catalyst induces effective CO-poisoning resistance and less Bi aggregation. These results are also compatible with trend in FAOR measured by cyclic voltammogram (CV). Even long-term stability, the catalyst maintains catalytic activity well. The best performance of DFAFC using the catalyst (32.7 mW cm−2·Pdg−1) indicates that 0.22 PVP- Pd2Bi1/C is excellent catalyst for FAOR and DFAFC performances.

In this research, we investigate electrical performance and electrochemical properties of carbon supported Pt (Pt/C) that is synthesized by polyol method. With the Polyol_Pt/C that is adopted for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) as cathode of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), their catalytic activity and ORR performance and electrical performance are estimated and compared with commercial Pt/C(Johnson Mattey) catalyst. Their electrochemically active surface (EAS) area are measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV), respectively. On the other hand, regarding ORR activity and electrical performance of the catalysts, (i) linear sweeping voltammetry by rotating disk electrode and (ii) PEMFC single cell tests are used. The CV measurement demonstrate EAS of Polyol_Pt/C is compared with commercial JM_Pt/C. In case of Polyol_Pt/C, its half-wave potential, kinetic current density are excellent. Based on data obtained by half-cell test, when PEMFC single cell tests are carried out, current density measured at 0.6V and maximum power density of the PEMFC single cell employing Polyol_Pt/C are better than those employing commercial Pt/C. Conclusively, Polyol_Pt/C synthesized by modified polyol process shows better ORR catalytic activity and PEMFC performance than other catalysts

With the PtM/Gs that are adopted for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) as cathode of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), their catalytic activity and ORR performance and electrical performance are estimated and compared with one another. Their particle size, particle distribution and electrochemically active surface (EAS) area are measured by TEM and cyclic voltammetry (CV), respectively. On the other hand, regarding ORR activity and electrical performance of the catalysts, (i) linear sweeping voltammetry by rotating disk electrode and rotating ring-disk electrode and (ii) PEMFC single cell tests are used. The TEM and CV measurements demonstrate particle size and EAS of PtM/Gs are compatible with those of Pt/G. In case of PtNi/G, its half-wave potential, kinetic current density, transferred electron number per oxygen molecule and H2O2 production % are excellent. Based on data obtained by half-cell test, when PEMFC singlecell tests are carried out, current density measured at 0.6V and maximum power density of the PEMFC single cell employing PtNi/G are better than those employing Pt/G. Conclusively, PtNi/Gs synthesized by modified polyol shows better ORR catalytic activity and PEMFC performance than other catalysts.

본 연구에서는 수정된 폴리올법에 의해 합성된 백금-이트륨 및 백금-니켈 합금 촉매들의 성능 및 특성 평가를 진행하 였다. 그렇게 합성된 합금 촉매들은 고분자전해질연료전지의 공기극 촉매로 사용되며 그 촉매들의 산소환원반응성 및 연료전지의 전기적 성능이 측정되고 상업적으로 사용되는 백금 촉매와 해당하는 결과들이 비교되었다. 성능 및 특성 비교를 위해, 백금 합금 촉매들의 입자크기와 분포는 투과전자현미경에 의해 관측되었고 활성표면적은 반복주사 전압-전류법에 의해 측정되었으며 그들의 산소환원반응성 및 연료전지의 전기적 성능은 회전원판 및 회전-고리 원판 전극을 이용한 선형주사 전압-전류법 및 완전지 테스트를 통해 평가되었다. 그 결과 백금 합금 촉매들의 구조적 특성인 입자크기 및 분포 및 활성표면적은 상용 백금 촉매와 그 특성이 비슷하였다. 촉매들의 산소환원반응성의 경우에도 백금 합금 촉매들은 상용 백금 촉매와 비슷하거나 더 나은 반파장전위, 속도론적 전류밀도, 산소분자당 전이되는 전자 수, 과산화수소 생성율을 나타내었다. 촉매의 구조적 특성 및 산소환원반응성에 입각해서 완전지 성능을 평가했을 때, 백금 합금 촉매들은 상용백금 촉매보다 더 우수한 0.6 V에서 전류밀도 및 최대출력밀도 값을 나타내었다. 이를 토대로 수정된 폴리올법에 의해 합성된 백금 합금 촉매들은 상용백금 촉매보다 비슷하거나 우수한 산소환원반응성 및 완전지 성능을 가질 수 있음을 제시하였다.

It was subjected of the concern of the researchers in which the security issue of the sensor network is many while the wireless sensor network rose as the ubiquitous computing core technology. Accordingly, many security protocols were proposed. And generally these are classified as the protocol of the symmetric key base and protocol of the public key infrastructure. Because of demanding the computation load in which the public key cryptography is excessive, security protocols using the symmetrical key code like SPIN are not appropriate in the sensor network. And an expandability is decreased as the size of a network is enlarged. Therefore, presently, many research that it relates to apply the security protocol putting a foundation in the public key to the sensor network is progressing. Presently, it was proposed in the protocols of the public key infrastructure like TinyPK and ECC2.0. The key exchange authenticated with three-party authenticated key exchange protocol, two-party authenticated key exchange protocol the verifier moreover induced from a password is proposed. But it is generated in the notable performance degradation and the problems that is weak in the man-in-the-middle attack. Moreover, the EKE(encrypted key exchange) technique of the password base is attacked with the password guessing attack, the secret key guess attack of a server, and the message retransmission the password file of a server is attacked. In this paper, the safe communications service was provided to users registered in the identical server. The authenticated key exchange of the password base which uses the smart card in order not to store a password in a server was proposed. And the clustering concept was applied to ECDH(elliptic curve Differ-Hellman) key agreement protocol for the shared key setting up between the efficient and safe node. And ECDSA(elliptic curve digital signature algorithm) is used in order to use the short stature in comparison with existing digital signature algorithms more and provide the efficient broadcast authentication.

We present optical measurements of morphology and refractive indexes (RIs) of human downy arm hairs using three-dimensional (3-D) quantitative phase imaging techniques. 3-D RI tomograms and high-resolution two-dimensional synthetic aperture images of individual downy arm hairs were measured using a Mach–Zehnder laser interferometric microscopy equipped with a two-axis galvanometer mirror. From the measured quantitative images, the RIs and morphological parameters of downy hairs were noninvasively quantified including the mean RI, volume, cylinder, and effective radius of individual hairs. In addition, the effects of hydrogen peroxide on individual downy hairs were investigated.
