Teaching and research activities have led universities to gather a very important cultural and scientific heritage. These university collections are little known to the public and many times, despite being made up of very similar materials, they appear scattered in the different information units in which university centers are organized: libraries, archives and museums, among others. The trend named GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) is aware of what unites these entities and calls for developing joint actions and presenting their heritage in a unitary way. It is studied whether the GLAM trend has penetrated the 33 best-positioned European universities in the ARWU ranking (2019). For this, their heritage websites are analyzed to see how they are organized for the treatment of their collections and if libraries and archives have a space in them. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the university heritage is still scattered, and that only since the end of the 20th century, thanks to the possibilities of the Internet, have they really started to collaborate. However, libraries and archives still have a too small role and even a low presence on the webs that show this inheritance. It would be desirable to take better advantage of the knowledge in information processing of these institutions and a system is proposed that would allow an improvement of the conditions of cultural and scientific heritage with the support of a large part of the university community and with a relevant role of libraries and files

This work starts with a state of the question of what we know today about two convents of Catalan Poor Clares between the 14th and 16th centuries and analyses a manuscript that contains the Rule of Urban IV translated into Catalan in all probability for the Poor Clares of the first monastery, Saint Clare of Vilafranca del Penedès, which in the 16th century would end up joining the second of them, Saint Mary of Jerusalem. The study of the manuscript and its owners falls within the more general framework of an investigation that seeks to contextualize the objects in relation; either with their «materiality» through the traces, textual or not, that the processes of production, manipulation and use have left in it; or with their «spatiality» through the network of meanings that create their contexts of use, custody and performative relationship.

- Abstract
En el segon, s’integra la correspondència emesa per la sobirana en el context de la seva acció reginal, o reginalitat, que inclou molt sovint un element de promoció monàstica., This article presents a transcription and analysis of the contents of the correspondence of the queens of Aragon, which is preserved in the archival collection from the monastery of Santa Clara of Barcelona (Archive of the Monastery of Sant Benet de Montserrat). The analysis is carried out from two connected perspectives: fi rstly, by situating the letters in the context of a monastic archival collection, their treatment and visibility; secondly, by showing how they served as a vehicle for the relationship between the different sovereigns – and also “infantes” – and this monastery of the Poor Clares in the city of Barcelona. In the first case, importance is given to the transcription of the letters, which have often been lost among the diplomatic corpus, and to the analysis of their archival treatment over time by the institution itself. In the second case, the correspondence issued by each sovereign is viewed in the context of her reginal action, or queenship, which frequently includes the promotion of the monastic communities.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: This paper addresses the issue of researching the monastic bookish culture in the Catalan Poor Clares Nunneries. The presence of books in the inventories and others sources from the archives of these monasteries between the 14th and the 16th century enrich our knowledge about the topic. Often these documents also provide information about the location of the books inside the monastic factory and about their uses, allowing to shift the focus of analysis from the object to its context. The study of this typology of documents is complemented by the analysis of some manuscripts from these monasteries that have been preserved to this day: a Diurnal from the first half of the 14th century and a Rule dated to the beginning of the 16th century.

The volume is the result of the research project Claustra. Atlas of female spirituality. The book deals with the analysis of the religious landscape marked by the communities of the Poor Clares and Dominicans nuns. The investigation of the territorial structure of the various kingdoms takes place through five paths: knowledge of poorly studied areas in female monastic topography; understanding of foundational dynamics and the role of communities of religious mulieres; the dynamics of the urban layout and the processes of communication and action that created the monastic landscape; the importance of patronage and female sponsorship in foundational models and cultural promotion; the analysis of devotional practices and the material culture of communities in a functional, spatial and performative context.

The Monastery of Santa Clara and San Antonio in Barcelona was the first community of the Order of St. Clare in Catalonia. The present article reveals the wealth of its sacristy inventories as first-class historical sources. The study illustrates the special characteristics of the series of documents in the monastery’s archives: its authorship (by female sacristans) as well as the main types of items inventoried and described (liturgical clothing and ornaments, jewelry, works of art, books ...). The ensemble provides a rich perspective on female monastic culture with regard to its involvement in liturgy, sacred imagery and written culture. One of the outstanding results is an appreciation of the careful and detailed functional design applied by the community of nuns to each item, to keep track of time and the liturgical calendar, as well as to manage and live their relationship with the outside world.

- Abstract
Objective: This paper presents a historical overview about European and Spanish information centres (libraries, archives and documentation centres) specialised in women and gender that rose parallel to the feminist political movement. Their mission and evolution are highlighted in order to build up what, after more than a century, can be called feminisms memory. This paper also aims to present some literature on this field, with a special emphasis on some of the more active centres, which can provide a frame of reference in this analysis. Methodology: Literature review on the subject, without making an in-depth analysis of all European and Spanish associations and documentation centres. The literature research starting point was the database Mapping the World of Women's Information Services and the Spanish Red de Centros de Documentación y Bibliotecas de Mujeres (Information Centres and Women's Libraries Web). Results: A sequence of lines and reflections was observed, which enable us to put forward some of the challenges of these centres at present time: consolidation of reference centres, such as in the Italian case, where resources and public structures in libraries and archives are used; the time evolution and adaptation of the centres with a historical background in their countries of origin; the importance of setting up networks integrating collections about the subject, which unfortunately are not visible enough at the moment; personal collections as representative documentation in the present report; digitalization projects to preserve these materials; the need to define collection acquisition policies and promote research. Finally, a future project deemed relevant and related to the Spanish context is proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: The foundation of the Franciscan Clarist monastery of Saint Engratia of Pamplona, traditionally dated 1228, was apparently promoted by a group of bourgeois families from the Frankish borough of Saint Saturnine. These families, of high economic and social standing, secured the patrimonial feasibility of the convent, as well as bestowed several vocations to the community. Similar tendencies may also be observed in documents related to middle nobility. A thorough reading of the first operations related to the settlement of these nuns suggests that the bishopric may have been behind this foundational effort, motivated by the wish to regulate and guide the new religious community outside Pamplona’s city walls.

ENGLISH: Our exposition aims to study some of the main artistic enterprises in the female convents of late medieval Galicia, which were carried out by the monarchy, by prestigious lineages of the nobility, especially Galicians, and by the emergent bourgeoisie. Through the analysis of the artistic promotion of individual figures we try to observe the main devotional lines of medieval Galicia, the interaction of nuns and their relatives, their relatives’ contribution, the breadth of their projects and the memory of their action.

ENGLISH: Mary of Hungary is the key character to understand the architecture and the decoration of the Clarissan church of Santa Maria Donnaregina in Naples. Probably, the German gothic aspect of the building is the result of the reception of Northern architectural models, spread both in Hungary and Bohemia. In the same direction, the fresco cycle with the Life of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary is devoted to the celebration of the dynasty of the Queen Mary. From the point of view of the gender, the cycle combines effectively with other themes present in the decorative program, mainly the Marian one.

ENGLISH: The study aims to reconstruct the relationship between the Order of St. Clare and the Aragonese Royal family, testified in Messina by the keen interest of the monarchs in Poor Clare convents. In particular, the essay focuses on the foundation of two convents of Poor Clares: Santa Chiara and Santa Maria di Basicò. Several clues show the link of the two convents with some queens and princesses of Sicily. For example, after the death of her husband Peter of Aragon in 1285, and of her first-born Alfonso in 1291, Constance, daughter of Manfred of Sicily, retreated to religious life and took the habit of the Poor Clares. Moreover, due to her deep devotion, Eleanor of Anjou, wife of Frederick III of Aragon and daughter of Charles II of Anjou, King of Naples, was authorized by pope Clement V to enter the convent of Santa Chiara and was buried in San Francesco of Catania, that still preserves her alleged relics. Besides, queen Elizabeth of Carinthia, wife of Peter II, wanted to be buried in the church of San Francesco of Messina that she had chosen as royal chapel.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: This volume contains the contributions of a good number of scholars from universities and research institutions in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Germany involved in the project Claustra. Atlas of female spirituality. The main objective of this project is, and was, to make visible the important role of female monasticism in the transformations of spirituality between the 12th and 16th centuries in the Iberian Kingdoms and in southern Italy. Within this general framework, the present book deals specifically with the analysis of the impact of the communities of Poor Clares and Dominicans in the religious landscape. The different contributions allow to dwelve into five main fields of study, always from the aformentioned territorial structure by kingdoms: the expansion of the current knowledge of areas that had important gaps in their monastic topography, especially female; the understanding of foundational dynamics that show the role of the communities of mulieres religiosae of previous existence; the dynamics of urban implantation and the processes of communication and action that created monastic landscapes in the context of the relationship between the monastery and its surroundings; the importance of female patronage in many of the founding models and in artistic and cultural promotion; and finally the analysis of the devotional practices and the material culture of the female monastic communities in a functional, spatial and performative context.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: In this contribution we study the links of the Dominican convents with the supernatural through different agents: the Virgin, saints, an angel or the miraculous performance of divinity through members of the monastic community featuring intense bliss. The narration of these miraculous actions by various scholars was captured in the Andalusian religious experience, providing the legend with a functionality that justified the cult by a historicist narrative, legitimizing the importance of female Dominicans establishments. These miracles were the most obvious demonstration of the sacredness that was imbued in the establishments that served like scenarios, representing the connection between the spiritual and the material, serving as intermediaries between the Christian faithful and divinity.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: The foundation of the monastery of Santa Clara of Plasencia was an enterprise carried into effect through the efforts of a member of a lineage of the urban aristocracy of the city, the Ruiz de Camargo, determined to fulfill, despite the opposition of the Countess of Plasencia, the will of his wife: to establish a convent of Poor Clares. With the analysis of the rugged foundation, it seeks to highlight the role of the gentry of Plasencia in the spread of certain monastic orders to express their power within the society of the time.

ENGLISH: In this article we examine the history of the convents of Santa Caterina, ruled by the Dominican order, and Santa Chiara, linked to the Friars Minor, in connection with mendicant Orders, urban life, and families. The convents were founded by knightly families in the first half of the 14th century in Palermo, which had lost its political role because of the king’s absence. Female figures and male presences have been studied in connection with the history of the city. In the 15th century the Observant Reform touched both convents, and quarrels broke out for the charge of abbess. From an economic point of view, Santa Caterina had always been the wealthiest convent in Palermo, while Santa Chiara was next to last in wealth.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
During the last quarter of the thirteenth century, the Order of Saint Francis underwent a crucial period in the definition of its own identity, while, at the same time, lay communities of men and women were already sensitised both to the idea of spiritual poverty and to the Joachite prophecies announcing the advent of a new era of illumination. In the case of southern France, the influence of Spiritual Franciscans at the beginning of the fourteenth century was undeniable, so much so that their extreme pauperistic discourse and their apocalyptic expectations pervaded lay society, resulting in the Beguin movement of Languedoc that would ultimately be persecuted as heretic. It is a fact that the region was also crowded with Clarissan convents, but, apparently, Spiritual Franciscans and Poor Clares remained within independent spiritual spheres. The goal of this paper is to outline the diaspora of the Beguins of Languedoc and the persecuted Spiritual Franciscans in order to search for the confluence between them and the female rigorist branch that shared their same spiritual roots, that is, the Order of Saint Clare.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: The article focuses on the monasteries of Poor Clares founded between the 14th and 16th centuries in the cities of Cagliari and Oristano: the first one was the capital of the catalan-aragonese Kingdom of Sardinia, the second one was the capital of the kingdom or “giudicato” of Arborea, incorporated into the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1420. These two cities were the first, in the island, to have a monastery of Poor Clares. The article traces the origins of these nunneries, the main events and their social role. It focuses also on the surviving medieval heritage in the Clarian church of Oristano and on the modern age architecture of the nunneries in Cagliari.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: The origins of the implantation of the Order of St. Clare reveal tensions between Clare of Assisi and the papacy about a new female mendicant model that he wanted to insert into the «ordo monasticus» represented by the new Order of St. Damiano. The first female implantation in the Crown of Castile is studied here, searching the authorial link with the Italian saint with the intention of rebuilding its phenomenology in a network opposed to the papal action and shed light on the manifestation of this problems in the Iberian area.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: For some time, historical cartography has been proved to be a very efficient tool for investigating ancient institutions in a holistic way. It allows their analysis by putting them in their spatiotemporal context and connecting them with their surroundings. Our paper uses this methodological approach to study the communities of Poor Clares in Catalonia between the 13th and 16th centuries. We analyse the locations of those seventeen monasteries that belonged to this religious order, with the intention to establish their settlement patterns and the different landscape features that appear in each case. Our goal is both to highlight the existence of some repetitive patterns in the location of these spiritual spaces and to foster further discussion about the reasons behind the choice of these locations.

D111 Medieval History - Abstract
ENGLISH: The signature, in 1261, of an agreement between the Franciscan and the Dominican Friars of Santarém, is the point of departure for the study of the mendicant strategy of implementation in this Portuguese medieval town. In particular, it shows how the different mendicant orders struggle for the attention and the support of urban populations, through preaching and charity, and the complex relations established between male and female communities, including some groups of enclosured women, soon involved in their dispute for a leading role in the religious life of this Portuguese medieval town.
