At a basic level, entrepreneurship refers to an individual or a small group of partners that intend to create a new business. Entrepreneurship is at the forefront of any competitive economy due to the creation of new products and services. In other words, entrepreneurship is associated with economic wealth, growth, and innovation. The usage of resources in the creation of new businesses needs to be rational because investors normally are risk averse, and the usage of resources must take into account the possible damage to the planet. In other words, entrepreneurs and the sustainability of the planet are interconnected. Beyond this, entrepreneurs need to take care of the corporate social responsibility of each new business, considering the interests of all stakeholders. Nevertheless, existing research has not shown in full all the research streams, how they interact with each other and their potential knowledge development. The methodological approach is based on a literature review using Scopus® databases under the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analysis). This paper aims to identify research trends in the field through a Systematic Bibliometric Literature Review of social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility research, with a literature review based on SCOPUS, the world’s most important peer-reviewed database in the academic world, and using the PRISMA protocol, which contributes to an increased knowledge on the subject. The review includes 69 articles published in the Scopus® database, presenting up-to-date knowledge on the topic.

Introduction: Third molar extractions present a wide spectrum of reported complications, spanning from 2.6 % to 30.9 %, making it challenging to predict outcomes for individual patients.This study seeks to evaluate third molar extractions conducted exclusively by stomatology or maxillofacial surgery residents, examining associated complications. Its aim also extends to delineating the related risks concerning epidemiological and clinical factors, juxtaposed against findings in the existing literature. Materials and methods: An observational prospective cohort study was conducted at the Clinical and Academic Centre of Coimbra, Portugal, from July 2021 to December 2023. Descriptive statistics were used considering the adequate statistical parameters. Inferential statistical analysis was performed using Student's t-test, the Chi-squared test, and Spearman rank correlation to analyze the relationship between study variables. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: 485 patients underwent third molar extractions performed exclusively by stomatology and maxillofacial surgery residents, comprising a total of 686 extracted teeth and resulting in 71 reported complications (14.6 % per patient and 10.3 % per extracted tooth). Results revealed that patients undergoing lower third molar extraction faced a 3.7 times higher risk of complications compared to those undergoing upper third molar extraction. Teeth categorized as “IIIC” by Pell and Gregory's classification and those undergoing osteotomy and odontosection also exhibited a higher-than-expected complication rate with statistically significant differences being observed. No other variables showed a positive or negative statistically significant correlation with complication occurrence. Discussion and conclusion: Despite the expectation of a heightened complication rate, this study revealed that a successful and comprehensive training regimen results in encountering complication rates akin to those documented in established literature.These findings also underscore the importance of recognizing that a resident's surgical accomplishment is intrinsically tied to acknowledging and respecting their learning curve.

Introduction: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has reshaped the global landscape as we know it and had a tremendous effect on healthcare systems around the world. However, its impact on oral healthcare is still to be fully assessed. The aim of this study was to understand if and how COVID-19 affected the demand and performance of oral healthcare, taking the Clinical and Academic Centre of Coimbra as an example, more specifically, the Department of Stomatology of the Coimbra Hospital and University Centre and the Dentistry Department of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Material and Methods: An observational study was designed for collecting the data of a series of key oral healthcare indicators: number of appointments; referrals from primary healthcare; missed appointments; number of surgeries performed in the operating room; number of biopsies; number of patients admitted through the emergency department and epidemiologic parameters over two 18-month periods between September 2018 and August 2021: pre-COVID-19 and during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the latter divided in four stages. A statistical analysis which included descriptive and inferential procedures was then performed, with an established significance level of 5% and the application of parametric tests, t-Student test for a sample and for independent samples and One-Way ANOVA for the variance analysis. Results: There was a general decline in all indicators comparing the pre-COVID-19 with the COVID-19 period, with a reduction of 50.61% in the number of appointments, 44.06% in referrals, 24.41% in surgeries, 26.30% in biopsies and 32.33% in patients seen in the Emergency Room. The number of missed appointments also increased by 181.82%. All variations revealed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). The individual COVID-19 stage analysis, when compared with the pre-COVID-19 reference, and variance analysis of these different stages also showed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05 and p < 0.001), except for the number of biopsies during the third and fourth stages. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had a considerable impact on oral healthcare demand and performance. However, results also show a remarkable adjustment and improvement in the provided care, with a positive evolution throughout the COVID-19 period.

The use of bioactive materials, such as Ximenia americana L., to stimulate the bone repair process has already been studied; however, the synergistic effects of its association with light emitting diode (LED) have not been reported. The present work aims to evaluate the effect of its stem bark extract incorporated into methacrylate gelatin hydrogel (GelMA) on the bone repair process using pure hydrogel and hydrogel associated with LED therapy. For this purpose, the GelMA hydrogel loaded with Ximenia americana L. extract (steam bark) was produced, characterized and applied in animal experiments. The tests were performed using 50 male Wistar rats (divided into 5 groups) submitted to an induced tibia diaphyseal fracture. The therapy effects were verified for a period of 15 and 30 days of treatment using histological analysis and Raman spectroscopy. After 15 days of induced lesion/treatment, the new bone formation was significantly higher in the GXG (GelMA + X. americana L.) group compared to the control group (p < 0.0001). After 30 days, a statistically significant difference was observed when comparing the GXLEDG (GelMA + X. americana L. + LED) and the control group (p < 0.0001), the GXG and the control group (p < 0.001), and when comparing the GG, GXG (p < 0.005) and GXLEDG (p < 0.001) groups. The results shows that the Ximenia americana L. stem extract incorporated into GelMA hydrogel associated with LED therapy is a potentiator for animal bone repair.

Introdução: A literacia em saúde mental é fundamental para o reconhecimento de problemas de saúde mental e intervenção precoce. A sua avaliação é importante para identificar deficits de conhecimento sobre a saúde/doença mental e ajudar na definição de programas de intervenção para a promover a literacia em saúde mental, bem como para a avaliação dessas intervenções. Objetivos: Identificar que variáveis sociodemográficas e contextuais à história de doença e comportamentos de saúde interferem na saúde mental positiva dos enfermeiros doscuidados de saúde primários;verificarseexisterelação entrealiteraciaem saúde mentaleasaúde mental positiva dos enfermeiros dos cuidados de saúde primários. Métodos: Estudo transversal, descritivo-correlacional e de natureza quantitativa numa amostra de 89 enfermeiros a exercerem funções num agrupamento de centros de saúde da região centro de portugal (ACES-Dão Lafões). O instrumento de colheita de dados incluiu um questionário com questões relativas á caracterização sociodemográfica, história de doença mental e comportamentos de saúde. A Escala de Literacia em Saúde Mental (O Conner et al., 2015) adaptada e validada para a população portuguesa por Loureiro e Carvalho (2018), Questionário de Saúde Mental Positiva traduzido e adaptado para a população portuguesa por Sequeira, Carvalho, Sampaio, Sá, Lluch-Canut e Roldán-Merino (2014) e a Escala O que é importante para uma boa saúde mental? (Chaves, Sequeira & Duarte, 2019). Resultados: Os resultados do estudo mostram um predomínio do género feminino (82,0%), com uma idade média de 45,60±8,43 anos. Pela ordenação dos valores da média os enfermeiros da amostra possuem níveis elevados de literacia em saúde mental (67,06±7.73). Os valores médios mais elevados foram encontrados nas dimensões: Reconhecimento e auto ajuda apropriada (M=71,34±10,58) e Conhecimento sobre apoio profissional disponível (M=68.41±16.74). A análise da relação entre a saúde mental positiva e a literacia em saúde mental revela que os enfermeiros com literacia crítica apresentam melhores níveis de saúde mental positiva. As variáveis Preditores da saúde mental positiva foram: O sexo masculino, idade, os anos de experiência profissional, as horas de sono e todas as dimensões da literacia em saúde mental que explicam 24,8% da variação. Conclusão: Os enfermeiros que participaram no estudo possuem níveis elevados de Literacia em Saúde Mental (Literacia Critica), com associações positivas e significativas com a saúde mental positiva. Esta investigação, mostra algumas das implicações que podem resultar de baixos níveis de literacia em saúde mental, podendo impedir o reconhecimento precoce dos sintomas e adiar a procura de ajuda. Os resultados encontrados trazem contributos importantes para a criação de programas de intervenção em literacia em saúde mental nos profissionais dos cuidados de saúde primários. Investir nesta área, junto dos enfermeiros que prestam cuidados de proximidade (CSP) aumenta a eficácia das suas intervenções de promoção da saúde mental.

ABSTRACT Purpose The aim of this work was to analyze the effect of fibrin biopolymer sealant (FS) associated or not to aquatic exercise (AE) on the calcaneal tendon repair. Methods Forty-four female Wistar rats were randomly divided into four experimental groups: Lesion control (L), Lesion and FS (LS), Lesion and AE (LE) and Lesion and FS associated to AE (LSE). The edema volume (EV), collagen ratio, and histopathological analysis were evaluated after 7, 14, and 21 days of partial tendon transection. Results The EV was statistically reduced for all treatment groups after 7 and 21 days when compared to L group. The LS and LSE had the highest EV reduction after 21 days of treatment. The FS group didn’t induce tissue necrosis or infections on the histopathological analysis. It was observed tenocytes proliferation, granulation tissue and collagen formation in the tendon partial transection area in the FS group. The LSE demonstrated higher amount of granulation tissue and increased the collagen deposition at the injury site. Conclusions Our data suggests that the therapeutic potential of the association of heterologous fibrin biopolymer sealant with aquatic exercise program should be further explored as it may stimulate the regeneration phase and optimize calcaneal tendon recovery.

Charcoal is produced in large quantities in the Portuguese region of Alentejo mainly using traditional brick kilns. Information about this type of carbonization technology is scarce, which makes it urgent to characterize the process as a starting point for performance improvements. In this context, this study aims to characterize the operation of a cylindrical brick kiln (≈80 m3) during regular wood carbonization cycles. Relevant process parameters were monitored along with the yields and/or composition of the main products (carbonization gas, charcoal, and charcoal fines) to evaluate the mass balance of the process. The results show that the bulk of the kiln operates at temperatures below 300 °C, which greatly limits the quality of the charcoal. For instance, the fixed carbon content of charcoal can easily be as low as 60 wt.%. The yield of charcoal is also low, with values below 25 wt.% of dry wood feed. This means that significant quantities of by-products are generated in the process with little or no commercial value. Modifications in the carbonization process are needed to improve efficiency, charcoal quality, and environmental acceptance to sustain this activity in regions where it still represents vital income related to wood-waste management.

Resumo: Apesar de existirem muitos trabalhos sobre sustentabilidade ambiental, por um lado, e sobre gestão de portfólio de projetos, por outro, não há pesquisas que analisem esses temas de maneira integrada. Assim, as duas áreas seguem separadas e com apenas raras interfaces teórico-empíricas. Seguindo uma estratégia de estudo de caso em uma das maiores firmas europeias de energia, que se destaca mundialmente na produção de energias renováveis, este artigo tem como principal objetivo analisar e compreender as práticas adotadas para a integração das duas componentes, sustentabilidade ambiental e gestão de portfólio. Entre os principais resultados obtidos observou-se que os aspectos ambientais e sociais são indissociáveis nos principais projetos da empresa. A boa comunicação com stakeholders e, especialmente, com as comunidades locais e as diretamente afetadas pelos projetos também foi destacada como prática de gestão que pode ser empregada para melhorar o desempenho de projetos. Notou-se também que a lógica para a análise e aprovação de projetos na empresa, admissão de projetos para o portfólio empresarial também se pauta pelas análises das externalidades ambientais e sociais previstas pelos próprios projetos.

We investigate the dynamic behaviour of resonant tunneling diode-photodetectors (RTD-PDs) in which the excitability can be activated by either electrical noise or optical signals. In both cases, we find the characteristics of the stochastic spiking behavior are not only dependent on the biasing positions but also controlled by the intensity of the input perturbations. Additionally, we explore the ability of RTD-PDs to perform optical signal transmission and neuromorphic spike generation simultaneously. These versatile functions indicate the possibility of making use of RTD-PDs for innovative applications, such as optoelectronic neuromorphic circuits for spike-encoded signaling and data processing.

Charcoal production in Portugal is mostly based on the valorization of woody residues from cork oak and holm oak, the latter being considered a reference feedstock in the market. Nevertheless, since wildfire prevention became a priority in Portugal, after the recent dramatic wildfires, urgent actions are being conducted to reduce the fuel load in the forests, which is increasing the amount of biomass that is available for valorization. Additionally, biomass residues from agriculture, forest management, control of invasive species, partially burnt wood from post-fire recovery actions, and waste wood from storm devastated forests need also to be considered within the national biomass valorization policies. This has motivated the present work on whether the carbonization process can be used to valorize alternative woody biomasses not currently used on a large scale. For this purpose, slow pyrolysis experiments were carried out with ten types of wood, using a fixed bed reactor allowing the controlled heating of large fuel particles at 0.1 to 5 °C/min and final temperatures within 300–450 °C. Apart from an evaluation of the mass balance of the process, emphasis was given to the properties of the resulting charcoals considering its major market in Portugal—barbecue charcoal for both recreational and professional purposes.

This research explores residents’ support for tourism by introducing—for the first time—the variable of residents’ word-of-mouth intention. The tested model proposes that residents’ support for tourism is influenced by residents’ word-of-mouth and tourism benefits; the model also examines the impacts of community attachment and community involvement on the benefits of tourism. The relationship between tourism benefits and residents’ word-of-mouth is the most significant indication of the tested model, followed by the linkage between tourism benefits and support for tourism. Besides this, the positive and significant effect of residents’ word-of-mouth on their support for tourism has been proven. The results stress the need for increased focus on the benefits of tourism by increasing community attachment, as they reveal that more attached residents lead to more positive perceptions of the benefits of tourism, consequently having a higher effect on their word-of-mouth intention and support for tourism.

Background The Stroop test is frequently used to assess deficits in inhibitory control in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). This test has limitations and antisaccade eye movements, that also measure inhibitory control, may be an alternative to Stroop. Objectives The aim of this study was twofold: (i) to investigate if the performance in the antisaccade task is altered in patients with MS and (ii) to investigate the correlation between performances in neuropsychological tests, the Stroop test and the antisaccade task. Methods We measured antisaccades (AS) parameters with an infrared eye tracker (SMIRED 250 Hz) using a standard AS paradigm. A total of 38 subjects diagnosed with MS and 38 age and gender matched controls participated in this study. Neuropsychological measures were obtained from the MS group. Results Patients with MS have higher error rates and prolonged latency than controls in the antisaccade task. There was a consistent association between the Stroop performance and AS latency. Stroop performance but not AS latency was associated with other neuropsychological measures in which the MS group showed deficits. Conclusions Our findings suggest that AS may be a selective and independent measure to investigate inhibitory control in patients with MS. More studies are necessary to confirm our results and to describe brain correlates associated with impaired performance in the antisaccade task in people diagnosed with MS.

Purpose: A number of recent reports have suggested that communication and management skills are important competences for engineers today and are likely to continue so in the future. While participation in strategy management decisions is expected to be important for engineers in technology driven firms, little attention is given to strategy management tools in many undergraduate engineering courses. The paper demonstrates one approach to tackling this issue. Design/methodology/approach: The authors initially present a critique of the use of standard strategy management tools SWOT analysis and Porter’s 5 Forces for decision making about future company policy. This critique is then complemented by a case-study of a university start-up, a recognized innovation-leader, in which SWOT analysis, Porter’s 5 Forces and PESTLE analysis are applied retrospectively as sense-making constructs to understand the firm’s previous policy decisions. Findings and Originality/value: The paper illustrates the potential of retrospective use of strategy management tools is demonstrated. Research limitations/implications: An obstacle confronting researchers in studies of this type is that for reasons of confidentiality it is difficult to gain access to current objective data on the financial situation and policy decisions of a firm. Furthermore this work presents a single case study. Both limitations are addressed in the appropriate section of the article. Originality/value: The value of the retrospective use of strategy management tools is illustrated. The paper makes proposals regarding how such data can be employed in role-play activities in preparing engineers to develop interdisciplinary communication skills in the context of strategy management decision making

INTRODUÇÃO: A instabilidade atlantoaxial pode resultar em alterações neurológicas, dor e limitação da mobilidade cervical. É uma situação grave pelo risco de tetraparésia ou morte súbita. Na literatura estão descritas várias técnicas de estabilização cirúrgica C1-C2 e neste artigo foram comentadas com maior ênfase as técnicas de Harms e Magerl, as mais utilizadas em nossa instituição. OBJETIVO: Descrever a casuística das artrodeses atlantoaxiais realizadas nos últimos cinco anos no Centro Hospitalar do Porto, particularmente, taxa de consolidações, complicações observadas, reintervenções e comparação com os estudos publicados. MÉTODOS: Estudo retrospectivo, com cinco anos, dos doentes submetidos a artrodese atlantoaxial no Centro Hospitalar do Porto. RESULTADOS: Foram operados 11 doentes no período do estudo, a maioria com instabilidade de causa traumática. O método de artrodese mais utilizado foi o descrito por Magerl. Não foram observadas lesões vasculares. Foram registradas complicações infecciosas em quatro doentes, sendo que essas infecções foram mais comuns em doentes com patologias inflamatórias de base. Obteve-se uma taxa de consolidação da artrodese de 100%; não foram necessárias cirurgias de revisão. CONCLUSÃO: Em nossa série, as artrodeses posteriores pelas técnicas de Harms e de Magerl resultaram em um ótimo controle da instabilidade C1-C2. Doentes com indicação de artrodese por instabilidade reumática apresentaram alta taxa de complicações infecciosas.INTRODUCCIÓN: la inestabilidad atlantoaxial puede resultar en alteraciones neurológicas, dolor y limitación de la movilidad cervical. OBJETIVO: describir la casuística de las artrodesis atlantoaxiales realizadas en los últimos cinco años del Centro Hospitalario del Porto, particularmente, la tasa de consolidaciones, complicaciones observadas, reintervenciones y comparación con los estudios publicados. Métodos: estudio retrospectivo, con cinco años, de los pacientes sometidos a la artrodesis atlantoaxial en el Centro Hospitalario del Porto. RESULTADOS: fueron operados 11 pacientes en el periodo del estudio, la mayoría con inestabilidad de causa traumática. El método de la artrodesis más utilizado fue descrito por Magerl. No fueron observadas lesiones vasculares. Fueron registradas complicaciones infecciosas en cuatro pacientes, siendo que estas infecciones fueron más comunes en pacientes con patologías inflamatorias de base. Se obtuvo una tasa de consolidación de la artrodesis de 100%, no fueron necesarias cirugías de revisión. CONCLUSIÓN: en nuestra serie, las artrodesis posteriores por las técnicas de Harms y Magerl resultaron en un excelente control de la inestabilidad C1-C2. Pacientes con indicación de artrodesis por inestabilidad reumática presentaron una tasa alta de complicaciones infecciosas.INTRODUCTION: The atlantoaxial instability may result in neurological disorders, pain and limitation of neck mobility. It is associated with serious risks of quadriplegia or sudden death. There are several techniques of C1-C2 surgical stabilization described in literature, and the most commonly used in our department and emphasized in this article are those of Harms and Magerl. OBJECTIVE: To describe the cases of the atlantoaxial arthrodesis performed in the last five years at Centro Hospitalar do Porto, Portugal, regarding the rate of consolidation, observed complications, re-intervention and comparison with published studies. METHODS: A five years retrospective study of patients who underwent atlantoaxial arthrodesis at Centro Hospitalar do Porto. RESULTS: Eleven patients were operated during the study period, most of them with traumatic causes of instability. The most common used method of arthrodesis was described by Magerl. There were no vascular lesions. There were infectious complications in four patients, and these infections were more common in patients with inflammatory disease. We obtained a rate of arthrodesis consolidation of 100%; revision surgeries were not necessary. Conclusion: The Harms and Magerl techniques of atlantoaxial posterior arthrodesis resulted in excellent treatment for the control of C1-C2 instability in our series. Patients submitted to arthrodesis because of rheumatoid instability had a high rate of infectious complications.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease of the Central Nervous System causing inflammation and neurodegeneration. There are only 3 epidemiological studies in Portugal, 2 in the Centre and 1 in the North, and there is the need to further study MS epidemiology in this country. The objective of this work is to contribute to the MS epidemiological knowledge in Portugal, describing the patients’ epidemiological, demographic, and clinical characteristics in the Braga district of Portugal. This is a cross-sectional study of 345 patients followed in two hospitals of Braga district. These hospitals cover a resident population of 866,012 inhabitants. The data was collected from the clinical records, and 31/12/2009 was established as the prevalence day. For all MS patients, demographic characteristics and clinical outcomes are reported. We have found an incidence of 2.74/100,000 and a prevalence of 39.82/100,000 inhabitants. Most patients have an EDSS of 3 or lower and a mean age of 42 years. The diagnosis was done at mean age of 35, with RRMS being the disease type in more than 80% of patients. In this cohort, we found a female : male ratio of 1.79. More than 50% of patients are treated with Interferon β-1b IM or IFNβ-1a SC 22 μg.

The proliferation of Aedes aegypti, a species of mosquito that is the vector of the dengue pathogen, is being augmented by the population's lack of care in allowing the formation of larval habitats. One form of controlling dengue is the distribution of information on the mosquito to improve awareness and to provide the means necessary for the elimination of its reproductive habitats. To evaluate a teaching method concerning the vector and dengue, students from the 5th and 6th years of primary education were compared before and after didactic intervention with a group of control students. The students who received intervention were more successful in identifying the stages of the cycle, biological and morphological characteristics of the adult insect and the importance of the mosquito in health issues. The didactic intervention was successful in developing knowledge leading to increased awareness of the importance of preventative measures that should be taken against the vector and the disease.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar duas cultivares de trigo (Triticum aestivum L.) Anahuac e IAC-24, cultivadas em solo arenoso, sob três regimes de umidade do solo (-0,027 a -0,1 MPa; -0,027 a -0,045 MPa; e -0,027 MPa -- irrigação constante). Foram analisadas as variações nos níveis de prolina, da diamina (putrescina) e das poliaminas (espermina e espermidina) e o teor relativo de água (TRA) durante o perfilhamento, emborrachamento, floração e no enchimento dos grãos. Nas plantas submetidas a déficits hídricos foi verificada menor TRA e acúmulo de prolina e putrescina; em relação às poliaminas não foram observadas diferenças entre os tratamentos. Nos tratamentos sob déficit hídrico, a cultivar IAC-24 apresentou teores mais elevados de prolina e putrescina, o mesmo sendo verificado com a cultivar Anahuac quando submetida a tratamento sem déficit hídrico.The objective of this work was to evaluate two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars, Anahuac and IAC-24, developed in sandy texture soil, under three levels of soil humidity (-0.027 to -0.1 MPa; -0.027 to -0.045 MPa; and -0.027 MPa constantly irrigated). The variation in the levels of proline, diamine (putrescine) and polyamines (spermine and spermidine) content and the relative water content (RWC) during the tillering, booting, flowering and grain-filling was determined. The plants under water deficits presented smaller RWC and higher levels of proline and putrescine. In relation to the polyamines it wasn't observed difference among the treatments. The cv. IAC-24 under water deficit presented a higher content of proline and putrescine while the Anahuac showed the same results in the treatments without water deficit.

O efeito de três níveis de sombreamento (0, 30 e 50%) sobre o desenvolvimento, partição dos assimilados e a produção de rabanetes (Raphanus sativus L.), cultivar "Vermelho Redondo", foi estudado em condições de campo, município de São Manuel, SP. As avaliações foram realizadas aos 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias após a emergência. O sombreamento prolongou o ciclo de desenvolvimento da cultura, reduziu o teor de clorofila, expandiu a área foliar e afetou a produção de raízes tuberosas, enquanto que com 30% de sombreamento não houve redução no tamanho nem na massa das raízes.The effect of three levels of shading (0; 30 and 50%) on the development and tuberous root yield of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) cv. "Vermelho Redondo" was studied under field conditions, at the São Manuel County, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The plants were evaluated at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after the emergency. The 50% level of shading increased the life cycle and foliar area, reduced the leave chlorophryll content and the tuberous root yield. The 30% level of shading did not reduce the size and weight of the roots.

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estudar os efeitos da deficiência de cálcio, boro e zinco sobre o crescimento e desenvolvimento de plantas de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill cv Santa Rosa). O estudo foi conduzido sob cultivo hidropônico utilizando-se solução nutritiva no. 2 de HOAGLAND & ARNON (1950) completa (C), omissa em cálcio (-Ca), omissa em B (-B) e omissa em Zn (-Zn), totalizando 4 tratamentos. Os vasos foram divídos em 3 blocos, cada qual representando uma repetição, sendo efetuadas 7coletas, nas quais foram observados os seguintes parâmetros biométricos: altura da planta, número de folhas e área foliar. Os resultados obtidos nas condições deste trabalho, levaram a concluir que a ausência de cálcio e zinco restringiram o crescimento das plantas de soja, ao passo que a ausência de boro levou à morte da planta.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to provide an evidence base and conceptual framework to inform new guidelines for achieving a balance between sports and employment commitments (i.e., dual career, DC) of the employee-sportspersons. To shape a DC discourse in the workplace, the distinct and combined views of the employee-sportspersons (i.e., the Employee), the managers (i.e., the Employer) were considered. Methods: Following a concept mapping methodology, 257 international participants (25% employers and 75% employee-sportspersons) sorted and rated 50 potential statements associated with DC circumstances and supports in the workplace. Results: Six distinct clusters emerged, with the combined employers-employee co-creation scenario assigning 6 statements to the micro dimension (Cluster 1 = Workplace Benefits), 4 statements to the meso dimension (Cluster 2 = Role of National Sports Governing Bodies), 19 statements to the macro dimension (Cluster 3 = Dual Career Policy Development), 4 and 5 statements to the organizational dimensions (Cluster 4 = Employee-Employer Collaboration and Responsibility; Cluster 5 = Sport Career Integration), and 12 statements to the policy (Cluster 6 = Workplace Strategies for Dual Career Support) dimension. With respect to the employers, the employee-sportspersons showed higher scores (p < 0.05) for importance of clusters 2, 4, and 6, and for feasibility of clusters 2 and 6. Discussion: These findings suggest priorities for changes within the DC dimensions identified, and envisage flexible models for aligning corporate brand values and corporate social responsibility strategies through meaningful and proactive DC support of the employee-sportspersons in the workplace. Heavy rainfall, a natural phenomenon reinforced by climate change and global warming, can cause severe social, economic, and safety impacts. Due to the impact of climate change and global warming, heavy rainfall events have become more frequent and intense in recent years, underscoring the urgent need to develop robust stormwater management systems that can prevent related social, economic, and safety issues. This is of greater importance in developing countries. The present study identified areas in Urmia City, Iran, that require stormwater management to develop a comprehensive understanding of the hydrological processes within the study area and to prevent the subsequent effects of heavy rainfall. For this purpose, a combination of the watershed modeling system (WMS) and stormwater management model (SWMM) was employed. Also, three possible scenarios that could be implemented to address the issue of water flow in the medium were proposed. Results indicated that the scenario involving the application of a vegetative swale was the most promising solution. Overall, the results of the present study offer a valuable framework for decision-makers in regions facing heavy rainfalls to effectively manage and minimize the adverse impacts of such events.
