Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and even though modern medicine has reduced considerably the number of deaths due to MI, patients still undergo serious cardiac issues that dramatically affects their well-being. Since the start of the century, massive efforts have been employed in exploring stem cell therapy, however, it is believed that it has failed to live up to expectations and further work must done. Alongside this, FSTL-1 has been an emerging protein which seems to offer a multitude of benefits in post-MI. A considerable number of studies with FSTL-1 have been conducted, always with a very satisfactory level of success, especially considering that research is still in its preliminary phases. In this study, a general evaluation is done to 1) the known mechanisms regulated by FSTL-1, 2) the recognized effects of FSTL-1 in cardiac tissue and cells, 3) and what work can be done to clarify questions and further expand our knowledge in order to advance FSTL-1 as a potential therapeutic agent.

O presente artigo foi desenvolvido com a expectativa de identificar as principais competências requeridas em concursos públicos para os profissionais integrantes do controle interno em instituições públicas municipais dos estados da região nordeste do Brasil, afim de contribuir para a discussão existente sobre o delineamento de um perfil profissional adequado ao escopo da área nessas instituições. As variáveis da pesquisa foram baseadas nas definições de competências descritas por Flaury e Flaury (2001), classificadas entre competências técnicas, de negócios e sociais. A metodologia desenvolvida foi a descritiva, utilizando-se de varáveis qualitativas, através da análise documental dos editais de concursos públicos para o cargo de Analista de Controle Interno publicados nos sítios eletrônicos oficiais dos órgãos públicos municipais da região nordeste, entre o período de 2013 a 2023. A análise dos dados revelou uma preferência pelas competências técnicas, seguida pelas competências de negócio, restando as competências sociais com requisição de algumas competências específicas ligadas à atribuição de compromisso com o aprendizado coletivo. Os resultados buscam dar continuidade às discussões sobre o objeto de pesquisa analisado neste estudo, buscando contribuir para um delineamento das competências necessárias ao profissional de controladoria, em especial ao profissional de controle interno.

IntroductionThe study aims to analyze scientific publications on the association between social networks, social relationships, and social support for sports coaches. It seeks to identify the types and levels of social support provided by various agents, and to understand the impact of this support on coaches’ wellbeing. The goal is to help coaches better utilize social support, thereby enhancing their quality of life, work, and performance.MethodsThis study systematically reviewed 11 scientific articles to investigate the association between social support, social networks, and social relationships in sports coaches. It aimed to identify the types and levels of social support offered to coaches by family members, peers, and friends. Our research utilized the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and assessed study quality using the STROBE Statement. Eligibility was determined by the PECOS criterion based on the search strategy terms.ResultsOur findings indicate that social support has significant positive effects on sports coaches. It enhances selfcompassion, prevents burnout symptoms, boosts job and life satisfaction, and reduces stress levels. Organizational support, characterized by clear guidelines, guidance, and autonomy, yielded positive outcomes. Conversely, the absence of social support correlated with negative outcomes for coaches, including lower self-compassion, increased stress and burnout symptoms, reduced job and life satisfaction, and heightened work–family conflict. Coaches’ social networks encompassed family members, peers, friends, and other sources, with friends perceived as the most influential. Maintaining an effective social support network is crucial for coaches’ performance and psychological wellbeing.DiscussionThis systematic review emphasizes the importance of social support for coaches in both their personal and professional lives, noting its positive effects and the negative consequences of its absence. Given the demanding nature of coaching, improving social support systems can enhance coaches’ wellbeing and the success of sports activities.

Goal: The purpose of this article is to analyze how digital transformation can contribute to increasing the sustainable competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry in a developing country like Brazil. Design / Methodology / Approach: To achieve this, a conceptual model was proposed, built from a literature review and interviews with 14 experts in the naval and offshore industry. The model was then validated through structural equation modeling, considering 326 responses from professionals in the researched sector. Results: As a result, a model was developed, suggesting that to establish a Shipyard 4.0, enhancing the sustainable competitiveness of shipbuilding, it is necessary to align corporate strategic management with sustainable management of complex projects. This alignment should focus on the qualification of specialized labor to execute the entire Smart product lifecycle, encompassing intelligent design, manufacturing, assembly, and operation, all of which are integral to a Shipyard 4.0. Limitations of the investigation: Bibliography searches on the topic were limited to thematic areas such as: digital shipyard, shipbuilding, digital transformation, intelligent manufacturing, automation, management, productivity, sustainability, people, security, labor, engineering, energy, computer science, economics, mathematics. The research aimed to provide results that characterized the application of a model that integrated digital transformation into the shipbuilding industry, in the thematic areas considered in the bibliographical research. Practical implications: It is expected that this model will be applied in a shipyard as a pilot for validation through a case study, aiming to enhance the competitiveness of companies in the sector while considering the sustainable aspects associated with such endeavors. Originality / Value: In this exploratory essay, we seek the intersection of themes such as Effective Management, Smart Manufacturing, Sustainable Project and Digital Shipyard. Brazil in 2018 had around 42 shipyards as Sinaval (2018) indicates on its website, through the map of shipyards and it is believed that the research can meet future demands of the sector. It is noted that there is no digital production line in Brazil at the end of 2018, therefore the thesis proposal is innovative.

This paper proposes the application of augmented reality to an intelligent automation platform to support industrial scheduling. A dual-resource scheduling plan is generated for machines and workers, and there is the necessity of coordination between both resources to avoid delays and unexpected errors. The application of augmented reality aims at two focal points: facilitating the workers’ tasks by displaying the step-by-step procedures for each task they are assigned and also monitoring the ongoing work on machines so that workers can be aware when intervention is needed. The main contributions of this work are the fully integration of augmented reality within the cyber-physical systems present in the intelligent automation platform and the enhancement of workers’ capabilities in order to actively follow a scheduling plan. This study includes an experiment that mimics part of a workday and a questionnaire on usability and user experience, which presented excellent results compared to the benchmarks.

This article is a short opinion piece addressing the personal and professional importance of performing research, while also highlighting some of the difficulties we might face while doing so. With this said, a historical perspective on research conducted by medical students is given, which exemplifies the significance of this component in students' lives and future careers. Alongside this, the statistics also exemplify the student's desire to do more research and how universities have failed to meet students’ expectations. Finally, some examples of small but immediate measures are offered that can help reform medical curricula through new mentorship regimes, better communication, more financial support, and better overall opportunities that will be key in motivating more students to conduct research.

Objective: Bladder pain syndrome/Interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC) is characterized by increased activity in bladder afferent pathways, recruitment of silent nociceptive neurons, and sensitization of the brain areas responsible for pain amplification. Default mode network (DMN) is a set of regions activated during the resting state, which reflect the brain’s intrinsic activity. Conversely, the sensorimotor network (SMN) plays a key role in structural neuroplasticity. This study aimed to evaluate DMN and SMN activity in BPS/IC patients, both with and without bladder noxious stimulus, using functional brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Six BPS/IC female patients underwent 3 Tesla fMRI brain scanners. Acquisitions consisted of 10-minute blood oxygen level-dependent echo-planar imaging. The first acquisition was with an empty bladder, painless, and the second was with suprapubic pain. Data were processed using the independent component analysis method with the MELODIC tool from the functional brain MRI of the Brain Software Library (FSL). A semi-quantitative analysis was performed afterward. Results: The patients’ age was 42.6 ± 5 years, pain intensity was 7 ± 0.7 (0-10), day and night frequency were 9.2 ± 2.2 and 2.8 ± 1.0, and maximal bladder capacity was 260 ± 54 mL. One patient was unable to complete the study. All patients showed a comparable DMN activation in both empty and full bladder states, and all presented high SMN activation whether the bladder was empty or full. Conclusion: The activation of DMN at both bladder states, empty and full, and constant SMN activation without and with pain supports the role of these networks in BPS/IC. Similar findings have been reported in other chronic pain syndromes.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence in torrefaction of the chemical structure of biomasses from nine poplar commercial SRC clones, evaluated through analytical pyrolysis. The chemical data were integrated into a dataset including LHV gain, representative of torrefaction aptitude and six chemical variables obtained through analytical pyrolysis, which were: (i) CH2Cl2 extractives; (ii) total extractives; (iii) Py-lignin; (iv) holocellulose; (v) (syringil/guaiacyl) ratio; and (vi) (pentosan/hexosan) ratio. Significant univariate and bivariate linear relations were obtained with LHV gain from torrefaction as dependent variable vs. Py-lignin, CH2Cl2 extractives and (cP/cH) ratio. Representative results were: (i) a negative correlation of −0.82 and −0.76 between LHV gain and the (pentosan/hexosan) ratio and Py-lignin, respectively, and (ii) a positive correlation of 0.79 between LHV gain and CH2Cl2 extractive amounts. Factorial and discriminant analysis allowed for clustering the tested clones in three groups, evidencing relevant influences of (S/G) ratio, Py-lignin, and, to a lesser extent, (cP/cH) ratio in the classification of these groups, clearly showing the impact of chemical variables of feedstock in torrefaction. The results contribute: (i) to the validation of use of the expedite analytical pyrolysis technique for classification of biomasses in accordance with their torrefaction aptitude and, thereby, (ii) to optimizing strategies in technological issues as diverse as poplar clone genetic breeding and modeling biomass torrefaction and pyrolysis.

Este artigo investiga o uso da informação contábil a partir dos Sistemas de Informação Contábil (SIC) na gestão das micro e pequenas empresas que atuam no segmento da educação infantil, ensino médio e técnico, em instituições privadas do município de Camaragibe, em Pernambuco. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva, de abordagem quantitativa, no qual foi realizado um censo e posterior envio de questionário aos gestores escolares objeto deste estudo. Obteve-se 38,2% de retorno e os resultados revelaram, dentre outros aspectos, que a maioria dos estabelecimentos pesquisados possuem contador, sendo este, em sua maioria, terceirizados. O estudo evidenciou também a relevância, confiabilidade e compreensibilidade das informações contábeis geradas pelo SIC para a maioria dos gestores pesquisados. O nível de conhecimento sobre o SIC percebido pela maioria dos gestores é bom. Quanto ao nível de percepção do SIC relativo à facilidade de uso, melhora do fluxo de trabalho, redução de erros, fornecimento de relatórios gerenciais para a tomada de decisão, dentre outras variáveis, a maioria dos respondentes questionados ‘concordam’ que o SIC promove tais atribuições, evidenciando assim, a atenção com as atividades gerenciais da escola, no sentido de identificar as dificuldades e promover a busca de soluções adequadas. Esta pesquisa pode ser um importante instrumento de orientação aos gestores de micro e pequenas empresas, em instituições privadas de ensino, para que possam compreender as lacunas existentes na gestão organizacional, através do SIC, e assim possam implementar estratégias e ações mais eficazes para em um melhor desempenho organizacional.

This article comparedidentified models in the literature that incorporates sustainability in project management, with an integrated model used as reference, mapping their points of similarity. For this purpose, bibliographic research of 90 articles from the Web of Science and Scopus databases was carried out, which address the themes of sustainability and project management. The reference model was compared with 16 models identified during the literature search, through comparative analysis and grounded theory. As a result, the study presents the identified similarity between model's constructs. It is concluded that there is no pattern or convergence between the different models identified, so that thereference model plays a role in stimulating the integration of sustainability with project management in a more comprehensive way.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) in subjects with skeletal class II dentofacial deformity referred for orthognathic surgery, as well as to elucidate its association with sociodemographic and psychosocial features.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional study using the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders. The sample comprised class II skeletal patients referred to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery center in the Brazilian Northeast.ResultsSeventy-three subjects were enrolled and completed the data collection, which consisted of a physical examination according to Axis I of the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders and facial analysis. Women represented 82.2% of the sample. Among the assessed subjects, 68.5% were already undergoing orthodontic treatment, and the mean overjet of patients was 6.97 mm. The prevalence of TMD in this sample was 46.6%, with muscular disorders being the most common. Patients with an anteroposterior discrepancy greater than 7 mm showed a higher occurrence of TMD (p = 0.017).ConclusionThis study demonstrated a high prevalence of TMD in skeletal class II patients referred for orthognathic surgery, especially in those with a pronounced overjet, being Group I (muscular disorders) and Group III (degenerative disorders) the most prevalent.

Resumo Este estudo analisa as barreiras para a implementação da educação interprofissional de cursos de graduação em saúde do estado do Rio de Janeiro participantes do Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para a Saúde (PET-Saúde). Foi conduzido um estudo de caso exploratório e qualitativo, com 32 participantes do PET-Saúde, que busca promover mudanças curriculares nos cursos da saúde. Dados foram coletados em 2020 mediante entrevistas individuais e submetidos à análise temática. Foram identificadas barreiras sociopolíticas, institucionais e relacionais. As sociopolíticas incluem o sucateamento do sistema público de saúde e a violência nos territórios de atuação das equipes de atenção primária, enquanto as institucionais incluem a rigidez curricular, a rotatividade dos gestores universitários e a incipiência dos processos de avaliação das experiências inovadoras de ensino. Na dimensão relacional, o elemento central é a força dos silos profissionais e das relações de hierarquia e poder entre os diferentes profissionais de saúde. A superação dessas barreiras implica a mobilização de políticas públicas intersetoriais, maior integração entre os sistemas profissionais, de saúde e de educação, e o reconhecimento de que a educação interprofissional é uma rota potencial para melhorar a saúde da população, reduzir os custos da assistência e garantir satisfação e segurança aos profissionais.

O presente relato aborda um caso de um homem, 29 anos, sem comorbidades, com história de infecção de pele e partes moles em lesão traumática cortocontusa na mão direta, em Zona V e VI de Eaton, após dois dias da execução de um golpe na cavidade oral de um indivíduo. Na admissão, o paciente encontrava-se febril, dor intensa, com edema e eritema local. A ultrassonografia da mão direita mostrou espessamento da tela subcutânea e pequena coleção líquida (2,1 cm x 0,5 cm x 0,4 cm) de natureza inflamatória e infecciosa. A análise microbiológica da amostra mostrou crescimento de Actinomyces odontolyticus. Iniciou-se a antibioticoterapia empírica inicial com Clindamicina. No entanto, o paciente evoluiu com piora local e drenagem espontânea da ferida. Realizou-se uma Ressonância Magnética da mão e observou-se intensa sinovite articular, extenso edema subcutâneo e líquido na bainha dos tendões extensores, sugerindo tenossinovite pós-traumática e uma lesão óssea com provável coleção. Contudo, escalonou-se para o esquema com Daptomicina e Ampicilina-Sulbactam e indicou-se abordagem cirúrgica do foco infeccioso, na qual realizou-se tenólise em túnel osteofibroso dos extensores, desbridamento dos tecidos desvitalizados, limpeza cirúrgica exaustiva com lavagem copiosa da lesão e colheita de culturas e material ósseo para anatomia patológica. Após dez dias de antibioticoterapia otimizada e resolução do foco infeccioso, o paciente foi transferido para cuidados domiciliares com uso de medicação oral em regime prolongado. Um mês após concluir o tratamento, o paciente retornou apresentando melhora clínica, com recuperação funcional, ausência de dor e edema local. Ainda que pouco frequentes, a bactéria Actinomyces odontolyticus tem grande potencial como agente de graves infecções de feridas e a avaliação do perfil de sensibilidade e as medidas de controle do foco infeccioso é um importante dilema na prática clínica.

This article proposes the use of social representation theory to validate the structural model of structural equation modeling and better understand the research object. For this purpose, action research was used to construct, implement, and confirm the practical feasibility of adopting the methodological procedures described in this article, based on their practical application in an analysis case. We concluded that it was possible to validate the structural model used in structural equation modeling, using the proposed methodological procedures, applied to a case involving the governance system construct. This opens up the possibility of its future use in other research, which use structural equation modeling to validate a theoretical model and the causal relationships between its constructs. As such, we reduce the risk of using this statistical method to validate a theoretical model whose causal relationships do not represent a reality supported by practice, going beyond theoretical validation.

Educational feedback is essential to help students learn from their mistakes and self-regulate their learning strategies. However, work overload and lack of time are barriers for educators to give quality and timely feedback, particularly for written assessments. Software tools to support feedback processes typically focus on automatic messages, lacking personalization. We present Tutoria, a software tool that uses artificial intelligence techniques to correct assessments more efficiently while also ensuring that good practices of educational feedback are followed. Tutoria was developed through a user-centered design process, including interviews and prototype validation with undergraduate students and instructors from higher education institutions in different fields of knowledge. Results indicate that the software presents good usability and relevance for educators. We expect that Tutoria can help educators construct personalized written feedback efficiently, allowing them to give quality feedback to large groups within realistic time frames.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are metal oxide nanomaterials, which are important for several applications: antibacterial, anthelmintic, antiprotozoal and antitumoral, among others. These applications are mainly related to the ability to spontaneously produce and induce the production of reactive oxygen species that are important components for the destruction of pathogens and tumor cells. While trying to potentiate ZnO NPs, studies have associated these NPs with silver oxide (AgO) or silver (Ag) NPs. It has already been reported that this combination (Ag-ZnO/AgO NPs) is able to enhance the microbicidal potential. Although possessing much potential for several purposes, it is important to evaluate whether this association also poses the risk of toxicity to cells and experimental models. Therefore, this work aimed to evaluate the toxicity of various Ag-ZnO/AgO NP nanocomposites, in vitro and in vivo. Accordingly, ZnO nanocrystals and nanocomposites with various concentrations of AgO (ZnO:5Ag, ZnO:9Ag or ZnO:11Ag) were used in different cytotoxicity models: Galleria mellonella (G. mellonella), cell lines (VERO and RAW 264.7) and C57BL/6 mice. In the G. mellonella model, four concentrations were used in a single dose, with subsequent evaluation of mortality. In the case of cells, serial concentrations starting at 125 µg/mL were used, with subsequent cytotoxicity assessment. Based on the safe doses obtained in G. mellonella and cell models, the best doses were used in mice, with subsequent evaluations of weight, biochemistry as also renal and liver histopathology. It was observed that the toxicity, although low, of the nanocomposites was dependent upon the concentration of AgO used in association with ZnO NPs, both in vitro and in vivo.

Fibrosis is one of the main factors that impair the function of many organs. In the heart, fibrosis leads to contractile dysfunction and arrhythmias, which are important in the development of heart failure. Interleukin (IL)-11 is regulated in various heart diseases and has recently been reported to be an important cytokine in fibrosis in this organ. However, this topic has been little explored, and many questions persist. Thus, this systematic review aimed to report on possible IL-11 therapies evaluated in rodent model-induced cardiac fibrosis. Inclusion criteria were experimental in vivo studies that used different rodent models for cardiac fibrosis associated with IL-11 interventions, without year and language restrictions. The search in PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases was performed in October 2022. The risk of bias assessment of the studies was based on the guidelines of the SYRCLE tool, and data from the selected articles were also presented in a table as a narrative description. This review was based on eight studies in which five different interventions were used: recombinant human IL-11 (rhIL-11), anti-IL11 (X203), recombinant mouse IL-11 (rmIL-11), lentivirus (LV)-IL-11 + lutein, and anti-IL11RA (X209). Based on the included studies, the results were variable, with IL-11 overexpression inducing cardiac fibrosis, while inhibition protected against this process, preserving the function of this organ. Therefore, IL-11 stands out as a promising therapeutic target for cardiac fibrosis. However, further studies are needed to understand the mechanisms triggered by each treatment, as well as its safety and immunogenicity.

This article seeks to describe the social representations of Brazilians about the term Governance System (GS). The data were collected through online questionnaires answered by 665 social actors from Brazil. The data analysis used the Social Representation Theory (SRT), operationalized by the techniques of free evocation of words and the Four Houses Framework of Verges, followed by lexical and content analysis. It was identified that in the center of the table there are words highly shared by the social actors about the Governance System: Accountability, Administration, Compliance, Control, Management, Organization, Planning, Processes, Transparency, and Ethics. It is concluded that Accountability is conceived as a structuring element for the effectiveness of the GS. The data suggest the existence of a mute zone in the social representation, since there was a scarcity of words that brought negative expressions about the GS and that deserve future investigations.

Resumo O desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias fez nascer ferramentas que auxiliam no processo de identificação de indivíduos, possibilitando confirmar identidades e ajudando a solucionar crimes, ao permitir confirmar o encontro de pessoas desaparecidas ou vítimas de acidentes, por exemplo. Entretanto, um importante questionamento ético precisa ser observado: os fins sempre justificam os meios? A identificação facial a partir de imagens coletadas por câmeras de circuito fechado de televisão ou a análise de registros fotográficos são capazes de confirmar a identidade de alguém inequivocamente? Impressões digitais ou labiais podem ser utilizadas, em qualquer hipótese, em um confronto dactiloscópico? O conhecimento sobre as limitações dos métodos técnicos científicos utilizados em comparações de caracteres morfológicos permite que o resultado do perito papiloscopista atenda a dois princípios basilares constitucionais: a legalidade e o direito da pessoa humana. Ao respeitá-los, estará agindo conforme os limites éticos.

The literary field is a cultural form, an individualized system of practices, characterized by its attributes and the structure that it assumes. Inside the form, the actors formulate discourses about their practices, from which emerge both a set of rules that regulate practices and a structure. Structure, norm, and practitioners compete to give shape to the form. From the different understandings of what belongs (or not) to the literary domain and some (r)evolutions in the field, this article defines the elements of a cultural form and gives an account of its dynamics that, throughout time, explains the fact that some rules may be reformulated and new bearers to be introduced, with the cultural form undergoing some restructuration without losing its identity.

This paper aims to analyze the negative perception about the ability to generate value from a Governance System (GS). A model that would explain the reason for the less positive perception regarding the ability to generate value from the GS of the organizations, from the analysis of the relationship between the constructs Hybridism, GS, Accountability and Perception of Value based on IR, was proposed and validated with structural equation modeling (SEM), based on 658 responses from professionals of Brazilian organizations from the public, private and non-profit sectors. It is suggested that conflicts related to organizational hybridism negatively influence the results orientation of the GS, which in turn influences the imbalance of its Accountability. As a result of the GS's loss of results orientation, and considering the IR capitals in the disclosure of results, there is a negative perception of the GS's ability to add value to the results.

Urinary tract infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria are the third most common type of infection in humans described worldwide. This is a time series study carried out from positive urine culture records, from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2019, in the metropolitan region of the municipality of Goiania, Midwest Brazil, in people of all ages and sexes. The aim was to assess the prevalence of urinary tract infections, the pattern of resistance to antibiotics, and the trend of increasing resistance in Enterococcus faecalis. Descriptive analysis and Pearson's chi-square test were used to assess the growth in the prevalence of antibiotic resistance, and a correlation analysis by the Poisson method was used to assess the trend in the growth of bacterial resistance. Of 22,034 positive urine cultures, 646 (2.9%) were of E. faecalis. The findings showed that urinary tract infections are more prevalent in women aged over 19 years old. The prevalence of resistance was high for the fluoroquinolone drugs and a significant increase in resistance against Gentamicin (p=0.02%) and a decrease toward Ampicillin (p

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal failure worldwide. Several mechanisms are involved in the pathogenesis of this disease, which culminate in morphological changes such as podocyte injury. Despite the complex diagnosis and pathogenesis, limited attempts have been made to establish new biomarkers for DN. The higher concentration of Mindin protein in the urine of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus suggests that it plays a role in DN. Therefore, this study investigated whether in situ protein expression of Mindin can be considered a potential DN biomarker. Fifty renal biopsies from patients diagnosed with DN, 57 with nondiabetic glomerular diseases, including 17 with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), 14 with minimal lesion disease (MLD) and 27 with immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN), and 23 adult kidney samples from autopsies (control group) were evaluated for Mindin expression by immunohistochemistry. Podocyte density was inferred by Wilms' tumor 1 (WT1) immunostaining, while foot process effacement was assessed by transmission electron microscopy. Receiver operative characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed to determine the biomarker sensitivity/specificity. Low podocyte density and increased Mindin expression were observed in all cases of DN, regardless of their class. In the DN group, Mindin expression was significantly higher than that in the FSGS, MCD, IgAN and control groups. Higher Mindin expression was significantly positively correlated with foot process effacement only in class III DN cases. Furthermore, Mindin protein presented high specificity in the biopsies of patients with DN (p < 0.0001). Our data suggest that Mindin may play a role in DN pathogenesis and is a promising biomarker of podocyte lesions.

Os benefícios da tecnologia atrelados aos aplicativos educacionais de ensino de idiomas estão sendo cada vez mais usados e têm demonstrado ser uma ferramenta pedagógica eficiente para a aprendizagem de línguas. Entendendo a relevância do ensino de pronúncia para uma aprendizagem mais completa e eficiente, o presente artigo tem como objetivo geral analisar as propostas de atividades de pronúncia desenvolvidas pelo software ELSA Speak de língua inglesa. Já como objetivos específicos se pretende: a) descrever a tipologia das atividades de pronúncia propostas pelo software e; b) refletir sobre o ensino de pronúncia, com suporte tecnológico, nas aulas de língua inglesa. Para tanto, recorre-se aos autores Moran (2000) e Vieira (2018) que tratam da utilização das ferramentas tecnológicas na aprendizagem e estratégias de ensino, e Mesquita Neto (2021) e Cypriano (2022) sobre ensino de pronúncia. A metodologia utilizada é considerada qualitativa e descritiva. O corpus do trabalho está composto pelas atividades de pronúncia do software ELSA Speak. Conclui-se que, apesar da identificação de algumas fragilidades, há efeitos positivos na utilização das atividades idealizadas pelo software ELSA Speak e que o aplicativo pode contribuir com a aprendizagem de pronúncia da língua estudada.

The Brief COPE is a measure of coping strategies that contains 14 factors. The purpose of this research was twofold: (a) examine the psychometric proprieties of the Brief Cope in previous studies; and (b) perform Confirmatory Factor Analyses (CFA) with second-order model and bifactor model specifications that could be used to assess the best model that represents the 14 coping strategies inherent to the instrument. In order to meet the first objective, a bibliographic review of published peer-reviewed studies between 1997 and 2021 was conducted. Results from the review identified 50 studies, of which 21 used exploratory factor analysis, 28 CFA and one study test-retest analysis. Seventeen studies used the entire correlated 14-factor structure. However, only 11 studies conducted a CFA. For the second objective, a sample of 472 working class individuals (female = 278) with a mean work experience of 19.06 years (SD = 11,92) were recruited. We tested several model specifications, convergent and discriminant validity analysis. We found the correlated 14-factor structure of the Brief COPE to have good psychometric properties. The second-order and bifactor model specifications displayed poor fit or did not converge, respectively. The measure showed good convergent and discriminant validity, and the subscales showed adequate internal consistency. We provide further validity and reliability of the correlated 14-factor structure, evidencing that this measure can assess coping mechanisms. Second-order model specifications need further testing and empirical evidence to support such hierarchical categorization.

Esta revisão narrativa tem como objetivo examinar as evidências atuais que suportam a importância do exercício físico e o papel do técnico de exercício físico como promotor de educação para a cidadania, da aptidão física e o seu impacto no desempenho das atividades de vida diária e, por conseguinte, da qualidade de vida de indivíduos com Dificuldade Intelectual e Desenvolvimental. Várias questões são elencadas, de modo a perceber as razões para as elevadas taxas de sedentarismo nesta população, o porquê da escassez de estudos experimentais, quem são os intervenientes na avaliação, prescrição e condução dessas atividades, qual a formação dos intervenientes e que cuidados devem ter com a referida população, no qual, através da uma reflexão suportada pela evidência científica, tentar-se-á dar resposta. Em termos de resultados é clara necessidade do mercado de técnicos de exercício físico com formação de base na área das ciências do desporto e específica em atividades físicas adaptadas, no desenrolar de funções, tarefas e atividades com indivíduos com Dificuldade Intelectual e Desenvolvimental, seja em contexto de ensino regular, de fitness ou modalidade desportiva e, consequentemente, promotores de qualidade de vida em indivíduos com Dificuldade Intelectual e Desenvolvimental.

Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia that progressively affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It can interfere with daily activities and lead to a decline in cognitive abilities over time. Exercise-based interventions can complement Alzheimer’s disease treatment. Exercise is a valuable tool in all healthcare settings and has shown promise as an effective cognitive improvement intervention for people with cognitive impairments. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to analyze the effect of physical exercise on the QoL of subjects with Alzheimer’s disease. A search was performed with the help of the electronic databases PubMed and Web of Science. Randomized controlled trials with exercise-based interventions were selected. Four studies met the inclusion criteria, which included interventions based on exercise. The effects were summarized using standardized mean differences (95% confidence intervals) using random-effect models. The results showed that exercise had no significant effect on the QoL of subjects with Alzheimer. Thus, the effect of exercise interventions on the QoL of patients with Alzheimer’s disease is not conclusive. More research is needed about this topic and the way in which the QoL is assessed; the necessity to conduct an objective way to assess the QoL in this population is mandatory.

Nosso ensaio, escrito como uma carta direcionada a nossa época, tem por objetivo levantar algumas interrogações sobre o tema das políticas públicas em meio a pandemia de covid-19. Problematizamos se o maior perigo de nosso tempo é a doença que tira a vida de milhares e nos confina em casa, produzindo inseguranças sobre o viver coletivo, ou nossos estilos de vida destruidores da natureza. Para o desenvolvimento de nossa narrativa, política e metodologicamente composta como uma carta-manifesto, nos apoiamos na obra de diferentes autores e experimentamos a escrita coletiva, mesmo à distância, como uma forma de habitar as dores e as instabilidades de nosso existir confinado. Apontamos, ao final, nossa aposta nas políticas públicas enquanto potencializadoras de estratégias e práticas coletivas de resistência em meio à intensificação da agenda neoliberal e os riscos advindos da pandemia enquanto acontecimento político-sanitário. Por fim, pensamos na resistência enquanto àquilo que, em meio às capturas do capital, escapa por entre os dedos dos controles feito o correr da água entre as pedras

Abstract Background Experts in the Atlantic Forest, the Guarani people have the habit of transporting and exchanging plants due to their mobility throughout the territory. Historically, this habit contributed to the species composition and diversification among different phytophysiognomies that comprise the Atlantic Forest. Medicine and spirituality are traits that stand out within the Guarani culture, which is based on a holistic understanding of physical and spiritual well-being for the person’s health. To achieve this balance, they use a range of native and adapted plant species. Our goal is to understand some of the Guarani contributions to the cultural landscape in the Atlantic Forest. Methods We conducted semi-structured interviews with key persons asking about the importance of forest environments for Guarani health and about visits to other Guarani villages and plants exchanged. Data analysis was qualitative, and through a bipartite network of exchanged plants to show current plant exchanges between villages. Results We visited seven Guarani Indigenous Territories in south Brazil, and with the participation of 12 respondents, we registered 27 species that were exchanged through different phytophysiognomies in the Atlantic Forest. These results show an intense movement of plants currently occurring between villages and the importance of these movements for both individual health and the integrity of the environments in which the Guarani villages are inserted. Conclusions We observed a search for the maintenance of traditional species in the Guarani medical system, and we highlight the fundamental role of Guarani management in the conservation of the southern Atlantic Forest in indigenous territories.

Resumo Fundamento A quantificação não invasiva da reserva fracionada de fluxo miocárdico (FFR TC ) através de software baseado em inteligência artificial em versão mais atualizada e tomógrafo de última geração (384 cortes) apresenta elevada performance na detecção de isquemia coronariana. Objetivos Avaliar o desempenho diagnóstico da FFR TC na detecção de doença arterial coronariana (DAC) significativa em relação ao FFRi, em tomógrafos de gerações anteriores (128 e 256 cortes). Métodos Estudo retrospectivo com pacientes encaminhados à angiotomografia de artérias coronárias (TCC) e cateterismo (FFRi). The present work reports the first record of Eratyrus mucronatus Stål, 1859 and Panstrongylus rufotuberculatus (Champion, 1899) (Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae) in a riverside community of Rio Negro in the Brazilian Amazon. Health promotion activities were carried out with the population and agent to combat endemic diseases. The entomological findings reinforce the importance of community participation in the surveillance and control of triatomines. The use of knowledge dissemination actions on Chagas disease and vectors strengthened the entomological surveillance in the middle Rio Negro, Amazonas state.

Sobre isso, a partir do ano de 2017, motivado pela agenda proposta pela Organização Pan-Americana de Saúde / Organização Mundial da Saúde (OPAS/OMS)(1), o Ministério da Saúde do Brasil priorizou a inclusão da pauta da EIP em suas políticas e programas de Educação em Saúde. Malaria vector mosquitoes belong to the genus Anopheles Meigen. The Amazon has been changing due to economic activities such as mining, logging, agriculture, and urbanization, leading to changes in malaria transmission patterns in this region. Therefore, this study aimed to survey Anopheles species in a peri-urban area of Macapá, state of Amapá, Eastern Amazon, Brazil. Human landing catches (HLC) and Shannon light traps were used to collect Anopheles adults at three points. We screened breeding sites in all accessible water reservoirs within a 2 km radius of each collection point to collect immatures and found two species: Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) albitarsis s.l. Lynch-Arribalzága (35.7%) and Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) braziliensis (Chagas) (64.3%). A total of 267 winged specimens of Anopheles were collected: A. (N.) braziliensis (62.9%), Anopheles (Anopheles) mattogrossensis Lutz & Neiva (11.6%), Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) triannulatus s.l. (Neiva & Pinto) (11.6%), A. (N.) albitarsis s.l. Lynch-Arribálzaga (6.7%), Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) darlingi Root (5.2%), Anopheles (Anopheles) peryassui Dyar & Knab (1.5%), and Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) nuneztovari Galbadón (0.4%). Considering that Macapá has autochthonous malaria cases, our findings can contribute to developing public health measures in this municipality, therefore helping to protect its habitants.

The concept of cultural intelligence has been the object of increasing attention from the scientific community due to its importance in a globalized world. To fulfil their mission, higher education institutions need individuals capable of effectively interacting with others who come from different cultural backgrounds. This study analyzes the level of cultural intelligence and its background in a Portuguese engineering higher education institution. This study used a cultural intelligence scale and applied it to a sample of 445 participants. The results show that individuals in this Portuguese institution have an interesting level of awareness of others’ cultural preferences. However, particular attention should be paid to improving the outcome of the cognitive dimension. The results show the potential of international experiences and activities that foster cultural exposure. Consequently, the managers of institutions should make efforts to promote Erasmus programs or similar internships abroad. In addition, they should promote activities that foster multicultural contact, whether extracurricular activities or multicultural clubs or associations, meetings, lectures or classes with appropriate pedagogical methodologies, for example, experiential or collaborative teaching.

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection is responsible for causing a disease with a wide spectrum of clinical presentations. Predisposition to thromboembolic disease due to excessive inflammation is also attributed to the disease. The objective of this study was to characterize the clinical and laboratory aspects of hospitalized patients, in addition to studying the pattern of serum cytokines, and associate them with the occurrence of thromboembolic events. Methodology: A retrospective cohort study with 97 COVID-19 patients hospitalized from April to August 2020 in the Triângulo Mineiro macro-region was carried out. A review of medical records was conducted to evaluate the clinical and laboratory aspects and the frequency of thrombosis, as well as the measurement of cytokines, in the groups that presented or did not present a thrombotic event. Results: There were seven confirmed cases of thrombotic occurrence in the cohort. A reduction in the time of prothrombin activity was observed in the group with thrombosis. Further, 27.8% of all patients had thrombocytopenia. In the group that had thrombotic events, the levels of IL1b, IL-10, and IL2 were higher (p < 0.05). Conclusions: In the studied sample, there was an increase in the inflammatory response in patients with thrombotic events, confirmed by the increase in cytokines. Furthermore, in this cohort, a link was observed between the IL-10 percentage and an increased chance of a thrombotic event.

Background: Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is an innovative achalasia treatment procedure that involves myotomy of the lower esophageal sphincter through a submucosal tunneling approach, combining the efficacy of surgical myotomy with the benefit of being a less invasive treatment. At this time, no data are available of POEM in Portugal. This study aimed to examine the safety and short-term outcomes of POEM in a Portuguese center. Methods: Fifty POEM were performed on 49 consecutive patients at our institution between January 2017 and January 2020. A prospective study of a consecutive series of patients was conducted, including procedure time, myotomy location and length, adverse events and clinical success. An Eckardt score of ≤3 after POEM was deemed as a successful outcome. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was evaluated based on symptoms and on upper endoscopy, which was performed at 3–6 months postoperatively to check for reflux esophagitis. Results: POEM was successfully completed in all cases: 70% (n = 35) were naïve and 30% (n = 15) had previous treatments. The mean procedure time was 73.4 ± 22.6 min (range 45–125 min). There were no major adverse events. Minor adverse events were rare (8%), and there was no perioperative mortality. The Eckardt score significantly decreased from 6.9 ± 2.4 preoperatively to 0.5 ± 1.0 postoperatively (p < 0.05). Overall clinical success was documented in 98, 98 and 95.2% at 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively. These short-term outcomes after POEM were independent of previous treatments. Symptomatic GERD was seen in 22.4% of patients. Conclusions: Our results confirm the safety and excellent short-term efficacy of POEM in a Portuguese center. This supports POEM as one of the first-line achalasia therapies in Portugal when performed by experienced operators.

Goal: This study aims to explore the relationship between companies leveraged by the use of 5G technologies and Industry 4.0 to develop a model that explains the impacts on the ecosystem. Design / Methodology / Approach: This study applies a bibliometric research utilizing scientometric review to provide an understanding of the status quo and the trend for research on the tripod theme in the world: (a) Firm Network, (b) Industry 4.0 and (c) 5G Technology. The study is extended by a qualitative research applying critical incident technique to experts´ interviews looking for the gap in the bibliometric review and insights on the tripod theme to develop a Conceptual Model based on grounded theory. Results: A conceptual model of balanced competitive expansion of the market was developed regarding the bibliometric and qualitative research. The model, based on 5 hypotheses - related to Partnership, Competition and Products and Services – highlights that while the 5G technology and Industry 4.0 impact the relationship among companies (competition, partnerships, product and services) this impact is balanced with a market expansion. Limitations of the investigation: This proposed conceptual model must be evaluated with quantitative research to validate the variables and hypothesis developed based on grounded theory. Practical implications: This paper shows methodological steps and basis to develop a conceptual model to be validate with broadly quantitative survey. Originality / Value: The paper demonstrates its originality and relevance by presenting a model relating innovative technology trends and their impact in the ecosystem

The cryo-EM structure of Mycobacterium smegmatis arabinosyltransferase B EmbB involved in mycobacterial cell wall biosynthesis provides insights into the substrate binding and reaction mechanism. Mapping of the ethambutol resistance associated mutations onto the structure suggests the location of the drug binding site.

Objetivo. Avaliar a efetividade da estratégia de combinação de tarefas dos profissionais de saúde, e do enfermeiro na Atenção Primária de Saúde. Método. Revisão sistemática da literatura alinhada com as recomendações do protocolo dos Principais Itens para Relatar Revisões Sistemáticas e Metanálises, incluindo estudos observacionais e de intervenções, sem estabelecimento de período de publicação, independentemente do país de origem e publicados nos idiomas espanhol, inglês e português. As buscas ocorreram nas bases de dados eletrônicas da MEDLINE, CINAHL, LILACS, EMBASE e Web of Science. Resultados. Incluídos 18 estudos, dos quais 6 foram desenvolvidos nos Estados Unidos; 3 na Holanda; 2 no Reino Unido; um na África do Sul, Austrália, Coreia do Sul, Escócia, Haiti e Japão; e um estudo com desenho observacional prospectivo em 8 países. Os estudos relataram que, a combinação de tarefas entre os profissionais de saúde, possibilita melhor aproveitamento de recursos materiais, otimização do tempo gasto no atendimento, retenção do paciente no tratamento, melhora na qualidade do trabalho com diminuição dos níveis de sofrimento psicológico do enfermeiro e comprometimento e satisfação com o trabalho. Conclusão. A expansão de tarefas do enfermeiro, assim como de outras categorias de profissionais da saúde, a combinação de tarefas, bem como o desenvolvimento de equipes interprofissionais, são estratégias que podem ser empregadas em situações de escassez de recursos humanos e de má distribuição em áreas urbanas e não urbanas com resultados positivos na melhoria da atenção em saúde da população e satisfação dos profissionais e clientes.

O semiárido nordestino apresenta irregularidades climáticas e geomorfológicas além da baixa pluviometria, indicando baixos volumes em seus mananciais. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo mostrar um diagnóstico de caráter qualitativo dos conflitos ambientas e do uso dos recursos hídricos precisamente no município de Monteiro, localizado na microrregião do Cariri Ocidental da Paraíba, na região do alto curso do rio Paraíba. A pesquisa foi realizada entre os anos de 2014 e 2016 sendo destacados os aspectos físicos e socioambientais para identificação das atividades agrícolas, agropastoris e da contaminação das águas do rio por meio de agrotóxicos e resíduos domésticos. As atividades agropastoris e agrícolas nos anos destacados contribuíram de certa forma para observar o uso de materiais poluentes, levando à contaminação das reservas hídricas existentes na região. Os conflitos mais impactantes, das atividades antrópicas, estenderam-se mais entre o eixo leste onde os níveis de poluentes totalizaram uma área de 16,1 km em relação ao eixo sul do Rio Paraíba, em 2014. Em 2016 a área conflitante teve um aumento de 22,5 km, próximos ao açude Poções, manancial da região, o qual está incluído no Projeto de Integração do Rio São Francisco, elevando, portanto, o nível de contaminações e perda de vegetação.

Green infrastructure has received increasing attention in urban strategies in a sustainable and resilience context, since greenspaces provide diverse ecosystem services. Green roofs can be a form of compensating the loss of ecosystem services and biodiversity in urban areas, contribute to safe access to greenspaces, which is important in times of social isolation, due to viral pandemics, and can guarantee self-reliance food. Thus, this urban measure should be integrated in urban planning and management, by using urban indicators associated with citizens access to greenspaces. Hence, we study pedestrian accessibility to green areas and propose an urban solution to improve access to greenspaces. The assessment is developed using indicators related to the citizens living in the surroundings of green areas and the residential buildings that exist in these areas; the residents living in potential green buildings or blocks with private green roofs and the potential green buildings with private green roofs. The ideal standard distances were considered to analyze the proximity of green areas to the dwellings of residents. We used GIS for the assessment of distances over the pedestrian network. The results indicate the necessity of building green roofs through the private sector. The developed indicators provide an important contribution to the municipal management in the definition of criteria for the urban location of green roofs to promote better access to ecosystem services.

Context: there is a certain difficulty for students in understanding what steps need to be followed to guarantee that a chosen research problem is academically valid. There are also difficulties in executing, training, and passing on the methodological procedure. Objective: the present study aims to detail the operationalization of a method of identifying research problems, allowing the students to prove the unique and singular character of their research. Methods: it is a qualitative, interpretive, and applied research, which uses the action research method with the participatory intervention by one of the authors of this paper, in the definition and guidance on how to use a multi-method to identify a research problem. Results: the main contribution of this research is to describe, with examples for each stage, a step-by-step procedure explaining how to perform a multi-method to identify a research problem that helps students operationalize it correctly and systematically. Conclusion: following the guidelines proposed in this paper, students are able to bring up real problems from both academic and managerial perspectives, as the method will be executed properly. It also allows teachers to better train their students about how to properly use the multi-method detailed in this paper.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the histopathological changes caused by infection with the Colombian strain of Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) in the acute and chronic experimental phases. C57Bl/6 mice were infected with 1000 trypomastigote forms of the Colombian strain of T. cruzi. After 30 days (acute phase) and 90 days (early chronic phase) of infection, the animals were euthanized, and the colon was collected and divided into two parts: proximal and distal. The distal portion was used for histopathological analysis, whereas the proximal portion was used for quantification of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, the weight of the animals and parasitemia were assessed. The infection induced gradual weight loss in the animals. In addition, the infection induced an increase in interferon gamma (IFNγ) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in the intestine in the acute phase, in which this increase continued until the early chronic phase. The same was observed in relation to the presence of intestinal inflammatory infiltrates. In relation to interleukin (IL)-10, there was an increase only in the early chronic phase. The Colombian strain infection was also able to induce neuronal loss in the myenteric plexus and deposition of the collagen fibers during the acute phase. The Colombian strain of T. cruzi is capable of causing histopathological changes in the intestine of infected mice, especially in inducing neuronal destructions. Thus, this strain can also be used to study the intestinal form of Chagas disease in experimental models.

Environmental impacts due to supply chains are seen as a challenge to innovation and criteria for prioritizing the application of organizational resources. In this context, the research question arises: how to build the necessary knowledge about supply chain performance indicators in sustainability, systematizing in an evaluation process integrated with the organizational results? The general objective of this research is to build an integrated system of sustainability performance analysis of the supply chain. In order to achieve the general objective, the specific objectives are the following: (i) selection of the bibliographic portfolio and (ii) analysis of articles content. The exploratory-descriptive research method presents and illustrates a structured process for the selection of scientific articles on supply chain performance indicators in the sustainability context. The method identified the most important keywords and the main databases of full texts and abstracts aligned with the topic. An important review of the literature reveals that efforts to improve or influence the practice of sustainability in the supply chain raise critical questions about the transaction costs and effectiveness of the approach. The review promoted the development of a system of indicators inspired by the Balanced ScorCard (BSC) to address sustainability performance issues. The originality or value lies on the useful for managers throughout the supply chain. It was identified in the literature that supply chains still generate significant environmental impacts, social impacts, and use of natural resources, even though they individually present statements in their strategies and accountability indicating the priority regarding the mitigation of social, environmental, and economic impacts. Another finding is that it is not just a matter of complying with legal and institutional frameworks. The scientific literature defines the need to prioritize studies on Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM), which helps organizations in the production chain to achieve competitiveness and at the same time emphasize the reduction of social risks and environmental impacts. The main findings of the paper are related to the possibility of interfacing the dimensions present in TBL with performance measurement in a supply chain.
