The Side-by-Side (SBS) Hybrid is one of several Revolutionary Vertical Lift Technology (RVLT) concept aircraft identified by NASA to investigate Urban Air Mobility (UAM) requirements. This paper presents a dynamic model of the SBS Hybrid powertrain built using the Toolbox for the Modeling and Analysis of Thermodynamic Systems (T-MATS) and the Electrical Modeling and Thermal Analysis Toolbox (EMTAT). The model consists of the rotors, electrical power system, and turboshaft engines connected through freewheeling clutches, gearboxes, and multiple shafts. This research effort models the complex behavior of the powertrain, including the operation of the freewheeling clutches and electrical power system at the simulation time scale of the shaft dynamics. Several simulations highlight the key features present in the model and demonstrate its operation.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of color on eye movements while viewing a restaurant menu. Heat maps suggest that participants tended to view the middle and upper-left parts of the menu the most, regardless of color upon first exposure. Gaze plots showing the order of fixations indicated that color may have impacted initial eye movements in the first 10 seconds. Participants tended to view the center of the menu first in the color condition and the top left portion of the menu first in the non-color version. These results may be useful when designing restaurant menus and understanding the role color may have when attracting users’ gaze.

Immersive simulation technology has transformed the training and learning environment. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) devices have been adopted by medical professionals, military forces, and marketing firms. Aviation training facilities are also integrating VR and AR technology into a variety of training. To ensure students begin training on equal footing, an engaging, guided tutorial for the virtual environment (VE) was created. A usability study was conducted to evaluate the tutorial’s learnability, effectiveness, and satisfaction for two user groups varying in VR experience. Results show users found the tutorial enjoyable with high usability and playability. Novice users reported the tutorial as more mentally effortful than expert users and were less comfortable with self-maneuvering. Users successfully completed most tasks on the first attempt after completing the tutorial. Those who noted difficulty in completing tasks in a post-assessment reported user error and corrected themselves without instruction. The tutorial demonstrated learnability, effectiveness, and satisfaction ensuring that users will be able to enter the VE with more confidence after engaging with the tutorial.

- Abstract
What is the relationship between artificial intelligence, robots, and theology? The connections are much closer than one might think. There is a deep spiritual longing in the world of AI and robotics. Technology is a prayer; it reveals the depth of our eschatology. Through the study of AI and robotic literature one can see a clear desire to both transcend human limitations and overcome the fallenness of human nature. The questions of ethics, power, and responsibility are not new to Christian anthropology. This book will introduce and examine some of the major ethical issues surrounding current AI and robotic technology from a theological and philosophical lens. In the study of AI and robot ethics, the Christian community has a chance to join the global efforts to build technology for good. Will we join them?

With the number of individuals becoming gamers on the rise, it has become ever so important to understand the underlying motivations and social interactions that occur within this video game medium. Research has revealed that player motivation and relatedness within a game setting can be affected by the interpersonal relationships that develop from in game social interactions. This specific study was interested in how interpersonal touch and relatedness gestures, more specifically positive or negative touch conditions within a gameplay experience, can impact both player motivations, as well as inter-player impressions. Additionally, observational data measuring the quality of interaction between the participant in the study and a research confederate, with whom they were playing an online game was collected. A positive relationship was found between player relatedness and positive touch between avatars.
