El aumento de unidades instaladas de robots industriales y los requerimientos de sostenibilidad exigen el estudio del consumo energético. Se propone una estrategia de reducción del consumo energético, basada en el diseño de una trayectoria punto a punto (PP). Se utiliza la optimización bayesiana que permite incluir información de un prototipo experimental en conjunto con un modelo matemático. Primero, se presenta el modelo cinético basado en el trabajo virtual y el problema de optimización bayesiana. Segundo, se realiza una comparación entre el consumo energético de trayectorias genéricas, métodos de optimización tradicionales, que utilizan trayectorias multi punto construidas por splines y trayectorias PP, y la optimización bayesiana propuesta, que utiliza una trayectoria PP. Se encuentra que en simulaciones computacionales los métodos tradicionales de optimización consiguen un consumo de energía menor que a través del método de optimización bayesiana. Sin embargo, a través de pruebas experimentales se verifica la ventaja del método de optimización bayesiana que, al incorporar datos reales del prototipo y dinámicas no modeladas, logran obtener un consumo energético menor.

Es necesario conocer los intervalos de referencia normales en cada una de las especies, ya que su evaluación es usada para detectar alteraciones en los pacientes, hacer un seguimiento en pacientes anestesiados y evaluar el bienestar; por ello, es necesario que éstos sean establecidos en cada región y para cada especie. En el caso de asnales y mulares, generalmente han sido usados los valores establecidos para caballos debido a su relación evolutiva, aunque existen claras diferencias de tipo anatómico, fisiológico y metabólico. En Colombia, la información acerca de los intervalos de referencia de los parámetros fisiológicos en asnales y mulares es virtualmente ausente, por lo que el objetivo de este artículo fue reportar los intervalos de referencia para los parámetros fisiológicos de asnales y mulares del suroeste antioqueño, para lo cual se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, donde se uestrearon 344 mulares y 45 asnales, clínicamente sanos, entre 2 y 20 años de edad, de ambos sexos. El resultado obtenido en este estudio muestra algunas diferencias en los valores de la media para la temperatura, frecuencia cardiaca, frecuencia respiratoria y tiempo de llenado capilar respecto a los previamente establecidos para equinos, asnales y mulares en otras partes del mundo. Se determinó que algunos de estos parámetros se pueden ver influenciados por la especie (asnal o mular), el sexo o la función zootécnica desempeñada.

La pragmática ha adquirido una importante dimensión convirtiéndose en una disciplina muy estudiada y con muchas posibilidades que abren diferentes frentes investigadores. En este sentido, partimos de esa importancia como pretexto para focalizar esta propuesta en torno a la enseñanza de español. Dentro del campo de actuación de la pragmática centramos la mirada en la forma de disculparse. Para ello, proponemos una serie de actividades que facilitan el aprendizaje de este aspecto atendiendo a tres diferentes contextos con sus respectivos destinatarios, esto es, alumnos de lengua materna (LM), segunda lengua (L2) y lengua extranjera (LE).

We investigated if the marsupial Dromiciops gliroides (Microbiotheriidae) is a legitimate seed disperser of Ugni molinae (Myrtaceae). We compared the germination rate of defecated and not-defecated seeds. The results show that defecated seeds are viable and show a high germination rate than no-defecated seeds. We conclude that D. gliroides is a legitimate seed disperser of U. molinae, and it may affect their reproductive success. These results are the first evidence of a seed disperser for U. molinae, and also support the proposal that D. gliroides have an important role as a seed disperser in the temperate forest of southern South America.

El presente trabajo propone una diferenciación de los términos «realismo mágico» y «real maravilloso» para, a partir de esta, realizar un comentario crítico de la pertinencia de ambos términos como representativos de la realidad latinoamericana. Se concluye que la posibilidad de la maravilla no es más que una interpretación estética de la realidad latinoamericana percibida por ciertos autores y que considerarla parte fundamental de dicha realidad responde a un distanciamiento enajenante.

Introduction. Stroke in young individuals is becoming increasingly prevalent worldwide. Its causes can vary widely, so a thorough investigation by a multidisciplinary team is needed. Pinpointing the precise underlying pathology responsible for the stroke yields benefits for patients, particularly in recurrent events. Case presentation. A 38-year-old man presented to the emergency department with symptoms suggestive of stroke, including right hemiparesis, dysarthria, ataxic gait, and right central facial palsy. The brain magnetic resonance image revealed an ischemic lesion located in the left basal ganglia and near the corona radiata. Following an extensive workup, a diagnosis of nephrotic was reached. Histopathology and the exclusion of secondary causes confirmed primary membranous nephropathy as the underlying condition. The patient underwent treatment tailored to address the specific glomerulopathy, along with anticoagulation therapy and immunosuppression as per current guidelines. Subsequent assessments showed stabilization of renal function, resolution of the edema, and the absence of new thromboembolic events during follow-up. Conclusion. The nephrotic syndrome should be recognized as a potential underlying cause of stroke in young patients and, therefore, it should be included in the differential diagnosis during the evaluation of patients with coagulopathies. Nephrotic syndrome screening may be done by conducting a simple urinalysis readily available in most healthcare facilities. This underlines the importance of considering renal pathology in the assessment of stroke etiologies, especially when coagulation abnormalities are present.

En el contexto de la educación superior, las transformaciones tecnológicas han generado cambios significativos, los cuales emergen como resultado de estas innovaciones y de la globalización. La formación basada en competencias (FBC) se presenta como un enfoque que permite guiar los procesos educativos, integrando de manera coherente los procesos de aprendizaje y enseñanza; ofreciendo una visión integral para los estudiantes. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo reconocer la FBC para los estudiantes de educación superior, como un factor clave en su preparación profesional. En este contexto, conviene recalcar que las instituciones de educación superior enfrentan complejidades intrínsecas a las ocupaciones profesionales, por lo que la formación por competencias impulsa un cambio necesario, favorecido por la evolución tecnológica actual. La metodología desarrollada se enfoca en un paradigma cualitativo, basándose en una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva y de alcance descriptivo, recabando información específica relativa al tema de estudio. De esta manera, se aplicó la técnica de grupo focal, congregando a un conjunto selecto de especialistas en el tema, facilitando la discusión y exploración de opiniones y percepciones sobre esta temática. En conclusión, la FBC ha motivado una reconsideración en los modelos educativos, los cuales, hoy y en el futuro, deben reflejarse en las universidades y otros centros de educación superior, atribuyendo un valor fundamental en la formación de futuros profesionales.

IntroductionSocial adaptation is a multifaceted process that encompasses cognitive, social, and affective factors. Previous research often focused on isolated variables, overlooking their interactions, especially in challenging environments. Our study addresses this by investigating how cognitive (working memory, verbal intelligence, self-regulation), social (affective empathy, family networks, loneliness), and psychological (locus of control, self-esteem, perceived stress) factors interact to influence social adaptation.MethodsWe analyzed data from 254 adults (55% female) aged 18 to 46 in economically vulnerable households in Santiago, Chile. We used Latent profile analysis (LPA) and machine learning to uncover distinct patters of socioadaptive features and identify the most discriminating features.ResultsLPA showed two distinct psychosocial adaptation profiles: one characterized by effective psychosocial adaptation and another by poor psychosocial adaptation. The adaptive profile featured individuals with strong emotional, cognitive, and behavioral self-regulation, an internal locus of control, high self-esteem, lower stress levels, reduced affective empathy, robust family support, and decreased loneliness. Conversely, the poorly adapted profile exhibited the opposite traits. Machine learning pinpointed six key differentiating factors in various adaptation pathways within the same vulnerable context: high self-esteem, cognitive and behavioral self-regulation, low stress levels, higher education, and increased social support.DiscussionThis research carries significant policy implications, highlighting the need to reinforce protective factors and psychological resources, such as self-esteem, self-regulation, and education, to foster effective adaptation in adversity. Additionally, we identified critical risk factors impacting social adaptation in vulnerable populations, advancing our understanding of this intricate phenomenon.

Introduction: Scientific evidence supports dermoscopy as an essential tool in dermatological diagnosis. Objectives: The objective is to know the factors that influence its use in Chilean dermatologists. Materials and Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study. An adapted version of the survey was submitted from the pan-European study by Forsea et.al. to members of the Chilean Society of Dermatology, between September and December 2020. Analysis using descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis with ordinal logistic regression looking for factors associated with greater use of. Results: 198 responses, mean age 46.3 years and 14.6 years on average practicing as dermatologists. 61.6% trained in dermoscopy during their residency. 98% use a dermatoscope. More than 80% consider dermoscopy useful for the diagnosis of melanomas, follow-up of melanocytic lesions, and diagnosis of pigmented and non-pigmented tumors. Between 50% and 70% consider it useful for monitoring non-melanocytic lesions, nail and hair pathologies. Greater confidence when evaluating pigmented and non-pigmented tumors and capillary pathology. Adjusting for age, sex, confidence, and education, participation in teaching was associated with greater use of dermoscopy in non-pigmented and pigmented tumors, and capillary pathology. Conclusions: Percentage of participation in the survey and training in dermoscopy higher than in the reference study, recognizing the usefulness of dermoscopy for the diagnosis and follow-up of tumor pathologies. Participating in teaching is a strong independent factor that is associated with a greater use of dermoscopy in Chile. Dermoscopy is positioned as a tool widely used by Chilean dermatologists in their daily practice.

El sistema de salud en Chile ha logrado un gran desarrollo y cobertura nacional, pero mantiene limitaciones organizacionales que hacen necesaria una reforma estructural impostergable, debido a deficiencia de recursos y desempeño, con segmentación e inequidad. El programa gubernamental 2022-2026 plantea una reforma sustancial para crear un sistema universal de salud. Existen otras propuestas de reforma elaboradas por diversos programas y comisiones gubernamentales y centros de estudio, que aportan insumos útiles para contextualizar la propuesta gubernamental. Diversos tipos de modelos coexisten en el sistema de salud, pues el seguro público es de tipo seguridad social, el sistema asistencial público provee atención gratis a los asegurados públicos, y los seguros y proveedores asistenciales privados tienen modalidad de mercado. El sistema propuesto sería de tipo de sistema nacional de salud, en el que se combinan una modalidad predominante de servicio nacional de salud (tipo Beveridge) estatal con un sistema de seguridad social (tipo Bismarck) complementario, según la necesidad de financiamiento. Bajo un enfoque de evaluación de proyectos sociales, se revisaron los criterios de pertinencia (coherencia interna y consistencia externa) y de factibilidad política y económica de los contenidos del programa gubernamental. La propuesta tiene coherencia interna, aunque una consistencia externa limitada con el sistema político y económico predominante, y escasa capacidad del Estado para aumentar el financiamiento y la cobertura de empresas públicas. El contenido de la propuesta no permite identificar que existan suficientes condiciones facilitadoras para sustentar una factibilidad política y económica razonable de aprobación legal e implementación efectiva de la reforma propuesta.

Abstract Social adaptation arises from the interaction between the individual and the social environment. However, little empirical evidence exists regarding the relationship between social contact and social adaptation. We propose that loneliness and social networks are key factors explaining social adaptation. Sixty-four healthy subjects with no history of psychiatric conditions participated in this study. All participants completed self-report questionnaires about loneliness, social network, and social adaptation. On a separate day, subjects underwent a resting state fMRI recording session. A hierarchical regression model on self-report data revealed that loneliness and social network were negatively and positively associated with social adaptation. Functional connectivity (FC) analysis showed that loneliness was associated with decreased FC between the fronto-amygdalar and fronto-parietal regions. In contrast, the social network was positively associated with FC between the fronto-temporo-parietal network. Finally, an integrative path model examined the combined effects of behavioral and brain predictors of social adaptation. The model revealed that social networks mediated the effects of loneliness on social adaptation. Further, loneliness-related abnormal brain FC (previously shown to be associated with difficulties in cognitive control, emotion regulation, and sociocognitive processes) emerged as the strongest predictor of poor social adaptation. Findings offer insights into the brain indicators of social adaptation and highlight the role of social networks as a buffer against the maladaptive effects of loneliness. These findings can inform interventions aimed at minimizing loneliness and promoting social adaptation and are especially relevant due to the high prevalence of loneliness around the globe. These findings also serve the study of social adaptation since they provide potential neurocognitive factors that could influence social adaptation.

Nanoparticles of MgSb2O6 were synthesized using a microwave-assisted wet chemistry method, followed by calcination at 700 °C. Their ability to detect different concentrations of propane gas (C3H8) at various operating voltages was evaluated. The material’s crystalline phase was identified using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), finding bar- and polyhedron-type geometries. Through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), we found particle sizes of 8.87–99.85 nm with an average of ~27.63 nm. Employing ultraviolet–visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, we found a band gap value of ~3.86 eV. Thick films made with MgSb2O6 powders were exposed to atmospheres containing 150, 300, 400, and 600 ppm of propane gas for dynamic testing. The time-dependent sensitivities were ~61.09, ~88.80, ~97.65, and ~112.81%. In addition, tests were carried out at different operating voltages (5–50 V), finding very short response and recovery times (~57.25 and ~18.45 s, respectively) at 50 V. The excellent dynamic response of the MgSb2O6 is attributed mainly to the synthesis method because it was possible to obtain nanometric-sized particles. Our results show that the trirutile-type oxide MgSb2O6 possesses the ability, efficiency, and thermal stability to be applied as a gas sensor for propane.

IntroductionEarly detection of depression is a cost-effective way to prevent adverse outcomes on brain physiology, cognition, and health. Here we propose that loneliness and social adaptation are key factors that can anticipate depressive symptoms.MethodsWe analyzed data from two separate samples to evaluate the associations between loneliness, social adaptation, depressive symptoms, and their neural correlates.ResultsFor both samples, hierarchical regression models on self-reported data showed that loneliness and social adaptation have negative and positive effects on depressive symptoms. Moreover, social adaptation reduces the impact of loneliness on depressive symptoms. Structural connectivity analysis showed that depressive symptoms, loneliness, and social adaptation share a common neural substrate. Furthermore, functional connectivity analysis demonstrated that only social adaptation was associated with connectivity in parietal areas.DiscussionAltogether, our results suggest that loneliness is a strong risk factor for depressive symptoms while social adaptation acts as a buffer against the ill effects of loneliness. At the neuroanatomical level, loneliness and depression may affect the integrity of white matter structures known to be associated to emotion dysregulation and cognitive impairment. On the other hand, socio-adaptive processes may protect against the harmful effects of loneliness and depression. Structural and functional correlates of social adaptation could indicate a protective role through long and short-term effects, respectively. These findings may aid approaches to preserve brain health via social participation and adaptive social behavior.

Introduction. University higher education in recent decades has seen the need to participate in projects that lead to its evolution, transformation and adaptation to the demands of current times. The leading role of the teaching professional is becoming more visible in these changes, which is why it is considered that the recognition of it as a leader is of vital importance to transform reality. The study presented has as a general objective to study teacher leadership in the higher education system of Ecuador considering its leading role in the transformative participation of educational processes. Materials and Methods. The research carried out was part of the development of the mixed or qualitative methodology. This was a two-phase sequential study. The first quantitative phase involved a questionnaire with descriptive analysis, applied the reliability with the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The qualitative phase consisted of an interpretative documentary analysis. Results. The results showed that most of the teachers surveyed do not recognize themselves as leaders, or at least are not known as leaders in some areas of the educational processes in which they participate. Teachers have three types of leadership: instructional, distributed and university. Discussion and Conclusion. At the present time the participation, commitment and responsibility in the area of competence of the university teacher, the educational leadership represented in the professional of university teaching, it is vitally important to move from discourse to action and active participation in the transformation of the realities.

Abstract Mental imagery is the process through which we retrieve and recombine information from our memory to elicit the subjective impression of “seeing with the mind’s eye”. In the social domain, we imagine other individuals while recalling our encounters with them or modelling alternative social interactions in future. Many studies using imaging and neurophysiological techniques have shown several similarities in brain activity between visual imagery and visual perception, and have identified frontoparietal, occipital and temporal neural components of visual imagery. However, the neural connectivity between these regions during visual imagery of socially relevant stimuli has not been studied. Here we used electroencephalography to investigate neural connectivity and its dynamics between frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal electrodes during visual imagery of faces. We found that voluntary visual imagery of faces is associated with long-range phase synchronisation in the gamma frequency range between frontoparietal electrode pairs and between occipitoparietal electrode pairs. In contrast, no effect of imagery was observed in the connectivity between occipitotemporal electrode pairs. Gamma range synchronisation between occipitoparietal electrode pairs predicted subjective ratings of the contour definition of imagined faces. Furthermore, we found that visual imagery of faces is associated with an increase of short-range frontal synchronisation in the theta frequency range, which temporally preceded the long-range increase in the gamma synchronisation. We speculate that the local frontal synchrony in the theta frequency range might be associated with an effortful top-down mnemonic reactivation of faces. In contrast, the long-range connectivity in the gamma frequency range along the fronto-parieto-occipital axis might be related to the endogenous binding and subjective clarity of facial visual features.

Introducción: la adicción a la comida es un trastorno en el que se alteran vías dopaminérgicas en el sistema nervioso central que conllevan a cambios en la conducta alimentaria que favorecen el desarrollo de sobrepeso u obesidad. Actualmente se desconoce el o los componentes que puedan dar lugar a los cambios neurobiológicos tras la adicción a la comida. Objetivo: analizar la relación entre los cambios en el sistema endocannabinoide y el desarrollo de la adicción a la comida, bajo el marco de los cambios neurobiológicos y conductuales evidenciados en las adicciones a sustancias psicoactivas. Material y métodos: se realizó una revisión exploratoria de la literatura disponible en bases de datos como Cochrane, Pubmed, Embase y Google Scholar, utilizando los términos DeCS adicción a la comida, endocannabinoides, nutrición, núcleo accumbens, hipotálamo, receptor cannabinoide tipo 1 y conducta alimentaria, tras la cual se incluyeron sesenta y nueve recursos bibliográficos. Resultados: la activación del sistema endocannabinoide puede modular la regulación neuroendocrina del apetito y saciedad a nivel hipotalámico estimulando el consumo de alimentos, asimismo, la acción de este sistema sobre el núcleo accumbens puede potenciar las propiedades sensoriales de los alimentos palatables (ricos en azúcares y/o grasas), además de aumentar la liberación de dopamina en las vías dopaminérgicas mesolímbica y mesocortical, las cuales se asocian a cambios conductuales como la impulsividad, deseo intenso por el consumo, abstinencia, tolerancia y otros, evidenciados en la adicción a la comida y diferentes trastornos asociados al consumo de drogas de abuso. Conclusiones: el consumo de compulsivo y crónico de alimentos palatables podría estar asociado al aumento de niveles plasmáticos de endocannabinoides agonistas de los receptores cannabinoides tipo 1, lo cual desencadenaría un círculo vicioso que reforzaría el consumo de alimentos palatables a nivel de la estimulación de estructuras involucradas en vías dopaminérgicas, producto de esto se mantendría una sobreactivación del sistema endocannabinoide y facilitaría la ganancia de peso.

The Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN) conference holds an annual competition in which indoor localization systems from different research groups worldwide are evaluated empirically. The objective of this competition is to establish a systematic evaluation methodology with rigorous metrics both for real-time (on-site) and post-processing (off-site) situations, in a realistic environment unfamiliar to the prototype developers. For the IPIN 2018 conference, this competition was held on September 22nd, 2018, in Atlantis, a large shopping mall in Nantes (France). Four competition tracks (two on-site and two off-site) were designed. They consisted of several 1 km routes traversing several floors of the mall. Along these paths, 180 points were topographically surveyed with a 10 cm accuracy, to serve as ground truth landmarks, combining theodolite measurements, differential global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and 3D scanner systems. 34 teams effectively competed. The accuracy score corresponds to the third quartile (75th percentile) of an error metric that combines the horizontal positioning error and the floor detection. The best results for the on-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 11.70 m (Track 1) and 5.50 m (Track 2), while the best results for the off-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 0.90 m (Track 3) and 1.30 m (Track 4). These results showed that it is possible to obtain high accuracy indoor positioning solutions in large, realistic environments using wearable light-weight sensors without deploying any beacon. This paper describes the organization work of the tracks, analyzes the methodology used to quantify the results, reviews the lessons learned from the competition and discusses its future.

La teoría de la literatura fantástica, desde Todorov hasta nuestros días, se ha ocupado del género de lo maravilloso. Sin embargo, la aproximación es, por lo general, subordinada a lo fantástico. Este artículo busca una de nición precisa de lo que se ha dado en llamar lo maravilloso, así como determinar si es pertinente sostener dicha categoría frente a otras similares. A partir de la consideración de las propuestas de Todorov, Barrenechea, Roas y Tolkien, así como de la etimología de los términos “fantasía” y “maravilla”, se observa que la literatura maravillosa, en efecto, existe y que está compuesta por los textos en los que los fenómenos que violentan la noción de realidad son nalmente aceptados. Además, se propone una tipología de los textos maravillosos. Por tanto, se concluye que lo maravilloso es una categoría con sus propios parámetros y métodos narrativos. Fantastic literature theory, from Todorov to this day, has considered the marvelous. However, the approach generally is subordinated to the fantastic. This paper searches a precise de nition of the so called marvelous, as well as if it is worth to keep that category in front of similar ones. Considering Todorov, Barrenechea, Roas, and Tolkien’s works, as well as the etymology of “fantasy” and “wonder”, it is possible to see that marvelous literature exists and is composed by the texts in which the defying reality phenomena are nally accepted. Besides, a typology of the marvelous texts is proposed. So, the conclusion is that the marvelous is a category having its own parameters and narrative methods.

La marihuana es uno de los psicoactivos más consumidos en Colombia y el mundo. Se ha observado que tiene efectos sobre el sistema nervioso central y, en consecuencia, podría afectar al metabolismo y el estado nutricional de los individuos consumidores. Este artículo pretende evaluar si el consumo de marihuana y la activación del sistema cannabinoide tienen la capacidad de activar mecanismos fisiológicos mediante los cuales se afecte la ingesta de alimentos, el metabolismo de los nutrientes y el estado nutricional de los adultos adictos. Como resultado se encuentra que el consumo de la marihuana puede incrementar los estímulos orexigénicos y disminuir los anorexigénicos, incidiendo en el aumento de la ingesta y en cambios sobre la producción de enzimas importantes para el metabolismo de las grasas. Además, influye en la aparición de alteraciones del estado nutricional de los consumidores relacionadas con una disminución del índice de masa corporal (IMC), lo cual contrasta con los resultados observados a nivel de la ingesta, por lo tanto se resalta la importancia de efectuar estudios profundos que expliquen este cuestionamiento.

The development of indoor positioning solutions using smartphones is a growing activity with an enormous potential for everyday life and professional applications. The research activities on this topic concentrate on the development of new positioning solutions that are tested in specific environments under their own evaluation metrics. To explore the real positioning quality of smartphone-based solutions and their capabilities for seamlessly adapting to different scenarios, it is needed to find fair evaluation frameworks. The design of competitions using extensive pre-recorded datasets is a valid way to generate open data for comparing the different solutions created by research teams. In this paper, we discuss the details of the 2017 IPIN indoor localization competition, the different datasets created, the teams participating in the event, and the results they obtained. We compare these results with other competition-based approaches (Microsoft and Perf-loc) and on-line evaluation web sites. The lessons learned by organising these competitions and the benefits for the community are addressed along the paper. Our analysis paves the way for future developments on the standardization of evaluations and for creating a widely-adopted benchmark strategy for researchers and companies in the field.

Spinel-type ZnMn2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized via a simple and inexpensive microwave-assisted colloidal route. Structural studies by X-ray diffraction showed that a spinel crystal phase of ZnMn2O4 was obtained at a calcination temperature of 500 °C, which was confirmed by Raman and UV-vis characterizations. Spinel-type ZnMn2O4 nanoparticles with a size of 41 nm were identified by transmission electron microscopy. Pellet-type sensors were fabricated using ZnMn2O4 nanoparticles as sensing material. Sensing measurements were performed by exposing the sensor to different concentrations of propane or carbon monoxide at temperatures in the range from 100 to 300 °C. Measurements performed at an operating temperature of 300 °C revealed a good response to 500 ppm of propane and 300 ppm of carbon monoxide. Hence, ZnMn2O4 nanoparticles possess a promising potential in the gas sensors field.

Spinel ZnCo2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by means of the microwave-assisted colloidal method. A solution containing ethanol, Co-nitrate, Zn-nitrate, and dodecylamine was stirred for 24 h and evaporated by a microwave oven. The resulting solid material was dried at 200 °C and subsequently calcined at 500 °C for 5 h. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy, confirming the formation of spinel ZnCo2O4 nanoparticles with average sizes between 49 and 75 nm. It was found that the average particle size decreased when the dodecylamine concentration increased. Pellets containing ZnCo2O4 nanoparticles were fabricated and tested as sensors in carbon monoxide (CO) and propane (C3H8) gases at different concentrations and temperatures. Sensor performance tests revealed an extremely high response to 300 ppm of CO at an operating temperature of 200 °C.
