The aim was to evaluate the effects of judo combat on the athletes' postural control (PC) and physiological loading before, during and after a simulated match. Seventeen under-20 regional and national level athletes completed one modified 7-min match. At baseline, during the combat (3rd and 7th minutes) and 2-min post-match centre of pressure (CoP) parameters were assessed. Heart rate (HR), blood lactate (BLa) and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and local RPE (LRPE) were collected. Significant increments were observed in CoP mean positioning and velocity at 3rd and 7th minutes, but the CoP deviation in both axes was unaffected. HR and BLa were elevated at 3rd and 7th minutes, and they remained elevated 2-min post-match. However, CoP returned to baseline 2-min post-match. RPE was elevated at 3rd and 7th minutes and the greatest effort was displayed in the Deltoid and Quadriceps. Thus, one simulated judo match stimulates a significant metabolic response and balance is degraded, with the greatest effects on the anterior–posterior axis and it recovers to baseline level after 2 min of passive rest. The physiological load cannot be regarded as a potential predictor variable of CoP. Overall, a judo match predominantly affects the upper body than the other body parts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: to analyze the indicators of competitive activity of highly qualified judokas of light weight categories at the competitions of the Grand Slam, Grand Prix 2022 series. Material and methods. The following research methods were used during the work: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature; timing; analysis of protocols and video recordings of fights of highly qualified judokas of weight categories up to 60 kg and up to 66 kg; methods of mathematical statistics. There were analyzed 57 fights of the final block of judoists of weight categories up to 60 kg (29 fights) and up to 66 kg (28 fights) at 8 competitions of the Grand Slam series and 2 series of Grand Prix 2022. The following indicators were recorded: the number of participants in the competition; the number of comments received by judokas; the number of disqualifications; the number of fights in extra time; the number of technical actions in the stance and on the ground. The percentage of the total number of comments and technical actions was calculated. Results: the analysis of the received remarks of highly qualified judokas of light weight categories shows that judokas of the weight category up to 60 kg received 55 remarks for all competitions, athletes up to 66 kg - 10 more (65 remarks), which shows their greater activity during the fight. For athletes under 60 kg, typical remarks for not fighting, avoiding the grip, false attack and going outside the working area. For judokas under 66 kg - for not fighting, prohibited grab, false attack and avoidance of grab. Also, athletes under 66 kg received remarks for interlacing fingers and blocking with one hand, unlike athletes under 60 kg. The analysis of the received disqualifications of judokas showed that in the weight category up to 60 kg 5 (17 %) fights ended in disqualification (4 - disqualifications for warnings; 1 for traumatic actions (head bending)). In the weight category up to 66 kg, 10 (36 %) fights ended in disqualification by reprimand. It was found that athletes of both weight categories perform approximately the same number of effective technical actions in the position of the rack, floor and lying down. The main effective technical actions that are most often used by athletes of each weight category separately in the rack, floor and lying position are revealed. Thus, in athletes of the weight category up to 60 kg, these were throws behind the back (46 %), grabs (13 %), throw over the head with a shin catch (13 %) and elbow lever (50 %). In judokas of weight category up to 66 kg these are throws over the back (18,5 %), varieties of front kicks (18,5 %) and elbow lever (100 %). Conclusions. It is established that during the fight athletes of light weight categories receive a fairly large number of comments related to reconnaissance wrestling during the fight. It was found that the fight of athletes of light weight categories mainly takes place in the stance. It is established that athletes in the weight category up to 66 kg are more technical and use more technical actions in competitions. But this applies only to the rack position. If we analyze the position of the floor, lying down, then athletes in the weight category up to 60 kg, on the contrary, have a greater arsenal of technical actions compared to the category up to 66 kg.,

Testosterone is a steroid hormone that is secreted by the testes with a diurnal rhythm and has a strong anti-catabolic (anabolic) effect on muscles. There is a strong relationship (r > 0.9) between concentrations of testosterone in the saliva and blood. The main purpose of the current study is to investigate the effect of strength-training on levels of salivary testosterone in male judoists. In a cross-sectional investigation, a population of 18 fit young male judoists (aged 17.0 ± 1.2 year, body mass 72 ± 3 kg, height 175 ± 3 cm, means ± SD), with at least 1.5 years of experience in judo classes was examined in Isfahan, Iran, in December, 2012. The period of testing consisted of two days of “rest” and two days of “exercise”. Subjects were randomly divided into two conditions that performed either the “rest” or “exercise” days during the first week, with the opposite type of day in the second week. The training regimen consisted of three repetitions of nine tasks, with 1 min of rest between each of the three sets, performed on alternate days for 8 weeks. Unstimulated saliva was collected (1–2 ml) every 2 h from 06:00 till 22:00 h. ANOVA with repeated measures was used to assess differences between the rest and exercise days. Strength-training sessions caused a significant decrease in testosterone levels immediately after exercise (p < 0.001), but there was no significant difference between the daily profiles of testosterone during the rest or exercise days (p > 0.05). It is concluded that strength-training does not significantly affect the normal biological rhythm of salivary testosterone during the waking period in male judoists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study was to evaluate Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF) effects on dynamic postural control in male judo athletes. In a randomized order, 11 male judokas (22.5 ± 2.8 years, 173.8 ± 6.9 cm, and 70.3 ± 4.4 kg; mean ± SD) were asked to perform four protocols of dynamic postural control, i.e., sit to stand test (STS), step up and over test (SUO), step quick turn test (SQT), and forward lunge test (FL), one week before RIF (BRF), during the second week (SWR) of RIF, and three weeks after RIF (AR). The results of the present study showed that during the dynamic balance tests, the movement time, lift-up index, and impact index during the STS test were significantly higher during SWR in comparison with BRF and AR (p < 0.05). However, those measured during the SUO test appeared independent of RIF. The turn time and turn degree during the SQT test and the distance, the impact index, the contact time, and the force impulse increased significantly from BRF and AR to the SWR (p < 0.05). However, no significant difference was observed in all tests (i.e. STS, SUO, SQT, and FL) between BRF and AR. In conclusion, the present study suggested that RIF may negatively affect the postural control of judo athletes. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Kurilyuk S. Research of psychological peculiarities of self-regulating judoists at the initial stage of preparation. Purpose: Abstract. Aim: to study the features of the individual style of self-regulating judo at the initial stage of preparation. Material and methods. Psychodiagnostics of children involved in judo trials was conducted on the basis of sports facilities of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. In total, 270 young athletes (boys) aged 10-12 years participated in the study. Theoretical and practical methods were used in the work: the analysis of scientific and methodological sources, observation, testing (questionnaire VI Morosanova and YM Konoz «The style of self-regulation behavior - 98», a surveyor RI Naidiffer «The style of attention and interpersonal communication»); author's psychotraining program aimed at increasing the self-regulation of judo at the initial stage of training; methods of mathematical statistics. Results: Specifics of judo self-regulation are manifested primarily as an athlete plans and programs achievement of the goal, takes into account the external and internal conditions for the implementation of these plans and programs, assesses and adjusts their actions. With the help of the questionnaire «The style of self-regulation behavior - 98» it was established that out of 270 monotors 69,63 % have a low level of formation of the autoregulatory system. The diagnosis of judo by the questionnaire «The style of attention and interpersonal communication» (adapted by Yu.L.Khanin) contributed to establishing a direct correlation between the level of self-regulation of single-member and narrow-minded types of attention (r=0,78, pConclusions. The obtained results showed that in judoists of the control and experimental groups, the individual style of self-regulation is significantly different after the psycho-training session. Therefore, this allows us to speak about the effectiveness of the use of various psycho-regulation in the system of training athletes already at the initial stage of sports activities.

- Abstract
Gender-related differences in anthropometry, blood biochemistry, psychological parameters, and energy intake during prematch weight reduction were studied in 22 men and 7 women college judoists who lost weight by combining judo training, restricting food and fluid, and sweating. Body weight (BW) decreased significantly by 2.2±1.4 kg in men and 2.0±1.4 kg in women 2 weeks after weight reduction started — not significandy different. Body fat, relative body fat and total energy intake also decreased significandy in both groups 2 weeks after weight reduction started. Lean body mass decreased significandy 2 weeks after weight reduction started only in men. Men had significantly decreased blood lipids, immunoglobulins, complements, hematocrit, white blood cell count, and serum electrolytes, and significant increases in blood uric nitrogen, creatinine, and hemoglobin, while women showed no such changes. The score for vigor in the Profile of Mood States (POMS) decreased in both groups 2 weeks after weight reduction started, but with no statistically gender difference. In women, scores for anxiety in the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and confusion in POMS increased significandy. Although the men and women had the same BW reduction, significant physical stress response was seen only in men, and psychological stress due to weight reduction and mental pressure of an upcoming competition were seen more in women. In this article, the influence of training sessions on sporting struggle on the cardiorespiratory system of judoists. In particular, the indicators of physical working capacity and aerobic performance of the body of judo athletes 10-11 and 11-12 years of the thoracic, muscular and digestive somatotype are described in detail. It is noted that the function of the system of external respiration, investigated by the indicators of spirography, of young judoists is within the age range and has separate somatotypological differences. The popularity of judo struggle among young people causes a significant increase in the number of children of junior school age who wish to engage in this sport. Every year the sports struggle becomes more dynamic and intensive, which results in increased requirements for the functional capabilities of young judoists. Functional possibilities are characterized by a certain degree of development and functioning of vegetative systems that provide training and work of the body of the athlete during physical activity. It is a system of blood, respiratory and cardiovascular systems, which determine the development of aerobic and anaerobic performance of the organism. In wrestlers, simultaneously with the development of anaerobic possibilities of the body, the increase of aerobic capacity, which characterizes the amount of maximum oxygen consumption (Vo2 max), is of great importance for maintaining a high level of special efficiency. The indicator of maximum oxygen consumption serves as one of the criteria for the general functional state and adaptation to the training and competitive loads at different stages of the annual macrocycle; therefore, during the training and training activities, one must possess knowledge about the functional capabilities of the body of judoists, in order to effectively organize training. Indicators of the external breathing apparatus of athletes at different stages of their individual development and athletic training vary ambiguously and versatilely

The paper contains experimental materials on diagnostics and correction of pre-competition psychological readiness of judoists of different qualifications. The diagnostics of pre-competition psychological readiness is carried out during the whole pre-competition mesocycle - at the beginning and at the end of every micro cycle. The results of the diagnostics underlie the development of individual contents of correctional work for every sportsman. The contents of the correctional work can have substantial differences depending on the sport qualifications of a judoist and the completeness of separate components of his/her mental preparation. In order to verify the effectiveness of the developed contents of correctional work we have carried out three pedagogical experiments with judo sportsmen of different sport qualifications. The correctional work has been done with judo sportsmen of different sport qualifications during these three competition periods; it allowed us to achieve the completeness of each structural component of mental preparation, which in its turn contributed to the achievement of optimal pre-competition psychological state of judoists; adequate reactions during the fight; improvement of the judoists` performance.
