Abstract

This paper is aimed at performing numerical simulations of the behavior of a planar model system consisting of a spherical absorber located in a supporting convex spherical cap. The derived system of nonlinear differential equations is subjected to a numerical solution. First, the time response of the system to harmonic excitation is analyzed. For this excitation, the frequency of the excitation was gradually changed, thus, resonance curves were created. This paper also examines the effect of initial conditions. For this purpose, numerical simulations of the system without an external excitation source have been performed. The results are phase portraits for selected pairs of initial conditions. 2. Mechanical Properties of Wooden Elements with 3D Printed Reinforcement from Polymers and Carbon.

Abstract

The research presented in this article aimed to investigate the differences in mechanical properties between solid structural timber and the same reinforced element in three different ways. A three-point bending test was performed on wood elements reinforced with carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), 3D printed polycarbonate (3DPC) lamellas, and 3D printed polycarbonate with carbon fiber (3DPCCF) lamellas. In this comparison, the bending strength was large for CFRP samples, which have 8% higher performance than samples with 3DPCCF and 19% higher performance than samples with 3DPC. Conversely, when factoring in theoretical manufacturing costs, the performance of 3DPCCF is almost three times that of CFRP and 3DPC. Abstract

The application of coating fabrics as roofing structures has become very popular lately. The materials are specially designed to withstand external loads at very low self-thickness and very low self-weight. The material's surface creates a membrane, which needs to be mechanically prestressed to become a load-bearing part of the system. However, due to the long-term prestress of the material and exposure to the environment (e.g., the snow season), the long-term characteristics of the material need to be considered, tested, and evaluated. This contribution is focused on the research of the methodology of long-term tests of the fabric material used for civil engineering and experimental design and manufacturing of particular testing equipment which will be used subsequently for the long-term testing of the fabrics. Abstract

This contribution is focused on the design analysis of membrane structure and finding an optimal shape of such structure due to the surrounding possibilities with using numerical modeling. The membrane structure is designed for roofing of the experimental stand, which is in the campus of Faculty of Civil Engineering, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava and is currently not protected against unfavorable weather conditions. Design of membrane structures as temporary or permanent roofing has recently become very popular because of its shape variability, very low weight, and possibility of large spans. However, in addition to aesthetic requirements, structural and dispositional requirements are also necessary to consider on the same level during the design. The aim of this paper is to give an overview of the design of the temporary membrane structure starting from the architectural visualization and continuing to deal with structural and dispositional parts of the design using the RFEM software which has special add - on module for nonlinear analysis of membrane structures, RF Form - Finding. Abstract

The thesis deals with issues of tanks, mainly in terms of their functions, reconstruction and construction. There is also developed problem of eutrophication of water and sediments. All these mentioned points affects functionality and usefulness of tanks. Further bachelor thesis contains a description and evaluation of tanks in Dobechovský stream catchment area. The obtained data were compared with survey conducted in 1999 on this area of interest.
