Background and PurposeCentral retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) often leads to permanent monocular blindness. Hence, early recognition and rapid re-perfusion is of paramount importance. This study aims to describe prehospital pathways in CRAO compared to stroke and study the knowledge about CRAO.Methods(1) Description of baseline characteristics, prehospital pathways/delays, and acute treatment (thrombolysis/thrombectomy vs. standard of care) of patients with CRAO and ischemic stroke registered in the Swiss Stroke Registry. (2) Online survey about CRAO knowledge amongst population, general practitioners (GPs) and ophthalmologists in Eastern Switzerland.ResultsThree hundred and ninety seven CRAO and 32,816 ischemic stroke cases were registered from 2014 until 2019 in 20 Stroke Centers/Units in Switzerland. In CRAO, 25.6% arrived at the hospital within 4 h of symptom onset and had a lower rate of emergency referrals. Hence, the symptom-to-door time was significantly longer in CRAO compared to stroke (852 min. vs. 300 min). The thrombolysis/thrombectomy rate was 13.2% in CRAO and 30.9% in stroke. 28.6% of the surveyed population recognized CRAO-symptoms, 55.4% of which would present directly to the emergency department in contrast to 90.0% with stroke symptoms. Almost 100% of the ophthalmologist and general practitioners recognized CRAO as a medical emergency and 1/3 of them considered IV thrombolysis a potentially beneficial therapy.ConclusionsCRAO awareness of the general population and physician awareness about the treatment options as well as the non-standardized prehospital organization, seems to be the main reason for the prehospital delays and impedes treating CRAO patients. Educational efforts should be undertaken to improve awareness about CRAO.

[ES]La falta de diversidad, especialmente la desigualdad de género y el origen social son algunos de los problemas globales que podemos encontrar en diferentes sectores, pero especialmente latentes en el contexto de los campos de la Ciencia, la Tecnología, la Ingeniería (y el recientemente añadido concepto de Artes), y las Matemáticas (STEAM), desde la escuela primaria hasta el nivel universitario y, por tanto, el mercado laboral. Cuando hablamos de diversidad, nos preocupamos por atraer a personas representativas de todos los sectores de la sociedad, diferentes culturas, discapacidades, grupos étnicos, género u orientación sexual. Teniendo en cuenta el contexto descrito, el proyecto CreaSTEAM tiene como objetivo proporcionar un mapa actualizado de los recursos enfocados a la reducción de la brecha de diversidad utilizando enfoques STEAM, y cómo seleccionar de estos recursos las mejores soluciones para crear un marco que permita implementar STEAM-Labs en las escuelas. Los STEAMLabs, como principal novedad del proyecto, fusionan las soluciones que podemos encontrar en los FAB-Labs, MEDIA-Labs, y USERLabs, y nuestro enfoque se centra en la creación de buenas prácticas en estos espacios para promover la diversidad en STEAM, donde la diversidad también abarca la equidad de género, y la inclusión social para la promoción de las vocaciones STEAM., [EN]Lack of diversity, especially gender inequality and social background are some global problems in different sectors but especially latent in the context of the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering (and the recently added concept of Arts), and Mathematics (STEAM), from primary school to university level and, therefore, labor market. When we talk about diversity, we are worried about attracting representative people from all sectors of society, different cultures, disabilities, ethnic groups, gender or sexual orientation. Considering the context described, CreaSTEAM project aims to provide an actualized map of the resources focused on the reduction of the diversity gap using STEAM approaches, and how to select from these resources better solutions to create a framework to implement STEAM-Labs into secondary schools. The STEAM-Labs, as a main innovation of the project, merge the solutions that we can find in FAB-Labs, MEDIA-Labs, and USER-Labs, and our approach is focused on the creation of good practices in these spaces in order to promote diversity in STEAM, where diversity also covers gender equity, and social inclusion for promotion of STEAM vocations

El concepto bellum iustum todavía no está definido, pero son muchos los autores que a lo largo de la historia han tratado de desarrollar el mismo. Entre estos autores se encuentra Michael Walzer autor de referencia en este trabajo que, mediante su obra Guerras justas e injustas. Un razonamiento moral con ejemplos históricos, establece una serie de argumentos que permiten establecer las condiciones por las cuales una guerra podría considerarse como justa. El objetivo principal es responder a la pregunta sobre si es posible justificar una guerra. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo una revisión bibliográfica de diferentes documentos tales como revistas, bases de datos aportadas por la Universidad de Zaragoza y, principalmente, el libro Guerras justas e injustas. Un razonamiento moral con ejemplos históricos de Michael Walzer. El trabajo consta de un repaso por la línea histórica sobre el desarrollo del concepto bellum iustum, el concepto de guerra con base en los argumentos de Michael Walzer, el momento histórico en el cual fue concebido el libro mencionado anteriormente, seguido de una sinopsis argumental y, finalmente, unas conclusiones sobre los argumentos de Michael Walzer y, la respuesta a la pregunta que gira en torno al trabajo, ¿puede ser una guerra justa?.

En este trabajo se presenta una experiencia de implantación progresiva de la metodología de clase al revés en los dos primeros cursos comunes a dos grados de Ingeniería Informática en la Escuela Politécnica de la Universidad de Extremadura. A lo largo de los dos años que ha durado la experiencia, vertebrada con dos proyectos de innovación docente, han participado 13 asignaturas y 22 profesores de distintas áreas de conocimiento. El principal objetivo de este trabajo es explicar cómo se ha implantado esta experiencia para afrontar el reto de coordinación que supone involucrar a varias asignaturas con profesores con distintos niveles de conocimiento y aplicación de la clase al revés en sus asignaturas. La colaboración entre el profesorado ha sido fundamental para el aprendizaje y para el desarrollo de materiales y actividades adecuados para cada asignatura. Una buena ejecución de estos proyectos debería llevar a que la metodología sobreviva en las aulas más allá de la finalización de los proyectos docentes. Así, otra de las contribuciones del trabajo es medir el impacto que ha tenido esta metodología dos cursos después de la finalización de los proyectos. Además, se presentarán las lecciones aprendidas y que pueden ayudar a poner en marcha proyectos similares donde intervienen muchos profesores y asignaturas. In this paper we present an experience of progressive implementation of the flipped classroom methodology. We introduced changes in the two first common courses of two Degrees in Computer Science at Polytechnic School of University of Extremadura. The experience lasted for two years and it was vertebrated over two teaching innovation projects, involving 13 subjects and 22 teachers from different fields of knowledge. The main objective of this work is to explain how this experience was implemented to face the coordination challenge that arise when involving several subjects, and teachers with different levels of knowledge and application of the flipped classroom. Collaboration among teachers was essential for learning and developing appropriate materials and activities. A good execution of these projects should make the methodology survives in classrooms beyond completion of the teaching projects. So, another contribution of the work is to measure the impact of the methodology two courses after the completion of the projects. In addition, we enumerate some lessons learned willing to help similar projects, where many teachers and subjects are involved.

Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) Aquatic Sciences Meeting, Mountains of the Sea, 26 February - 3 March 2017, Honolulu, Hawai`i, Citizens observatories are a new concept of research infrastructure (http://www.citizen-obs.eu/). They are platforms that integrate the latest information technology to digitally connect citizens, and support the discipline known as Citizen Science through the improvement of the ability of environment observation. Additionally, citizens observatories are an excellent framework to develop innovative teaching methodologies and projects and broaden participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This potential for education comes from the opportunities offered by the active collaboration of citizens, with different levels and roles in shared processes of knowledge creation. In this contribution the authors will analyze the role of citizen observatories (and how people can collaborate with different participation roles) in two case studies: (1) the European project Citclops (Citizens¿ Observatory for Coast and Ocean Optical Monitoring, http://www.citclops.eu/), which introduced an innovative concept for water-quality monitoring, and developed tools and sensors that can be used by citizens to help oceanographers and limnologists in monitoring natural waters; and (2) the platform for monitoring biodiversity Natusfera (http://natusfera.gbif.es)
