Abstract The design and construction of an adaptive energy management system incorporating a 12 V–2 Ah battery and a 1F ultracapacitor for solar powered hybrid electric vehicles are presented in this paper. The primary storage battery’s longevity and overall system efficiency are intended to be increased by the EMS’s ability to forecast driving circumstances and lessen the load on it. The method optimizes power distribution among numerous energy storage sources by using sophisticated hardware configurations. Using Arduino Uno software, the EMS continuously modifies power distribution in response to driving circumstances and vehicle energy needs. To conduct a thorough assessment of the system, a mechanical configuration was created to replicate the vehicle’s dynamics. This included situations in which the vehicle moved only by using its moment of inertia and not the accelerator. Testing under diverse operating conditions, such as braking, acceleration, and varying slopes is made possible by this configuration. According to experimental data, peak battery stress is significantly reduced by about 33.33%, resulting in longer battery life. With minimal energy losses of 4.3–4.9%, the system regularly achieves power efficiency ranging from 95.1 to 95.7%. Furthermore, the suggested hardware-based EMS lowers overall energy loss by roughly 10.36%, highlighting its dependability and effectiveness in contrast to traditional techniques. The longevity and efficiency of the system are enhanced by the balanced power distribution between the battery, ultracapacitor, and solar sources, which prevents any one source from being overloaded. Overall, the suggested energy management system is successful in improving energy distribution and extending the lifespan and performance of HEV components.

Abstract This paper provides a new, less complex multilevel inverter topology that can be used for industrial loads and renewable energy sources. The arrangement consists of eight switches to produce an 11-level output voltage with two uneven input sources. Moreover, it can be connected in a cascade to increase the output voltage and number of levels even further. Due to its control mechanism, which is based on the Rotating Trapezoidal Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation control method for creating a high-quality output voltage, the inverter’s key characteristic is its very low harmonic distortion of 3.45% at the output voltage when compared to the advanced triangular carrier-based PWM techniques of phase disposition sinusoidal pulse width modulation (PD-SPWM) it produces harmonic distortion of 11.38% at the output voltage, phase opposition disposition sinusoidal pulse width modulation (POD-SPWM) it produces harmonic distortion of 6.43% at the output voltage, alternative phase opposition disposition sinusoidal pulse width modulation (APOD-SPWM) it produces harmonic distortion of 6.69% at the output voltage, IN-Shift sinusoidal pulse width modulation (IN-shift SPWM) it produces harmonic distortion of 3.93% at the output voltage. This inverter is commonly used in wind turbines and solar cells. The schemes are implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK and are validated with single-phase 11-level inverter implemented by using digital signal controller (DSC).

This paper implements the phase imbalance scheme for damping torsional oscillations of a series capacitor compensated power system. The IEEE Second Benchmark Model, system-1, wherein two turbine generator model and two system model connected to an infinite bus is employed as a standard system model to study the concept of subsynchronous resonance. The turbine generator models have a common torsional mode. The Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) is employed to simulate the damping effects provided by the phase imbalance scheme. The simulation results also show that parallel phase imbalance scheme gives the better damping characteristics when compared to that of series phase imbalance scheme. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From the power generation history, the nonrenewable power sources utilization is falling extremely because of their demerits are high atmospheric pollution, more expensive, more catchment area for development, high fossil fuel transportation cost, less flexibility, and reliability. So, the sunlight systems are utilized in this work for feeding the power to the central grid. On the earth, the sunlight energy availability is more and it is more flexible for the installation. However, the sunlight photovoltaic (PV) module's power production is very low. To improve the power generation of the PV network, a modified slider maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is proposed in the first objective and it is interfaced with the sunlight system for capturing more sunlight insolation thereby moving the functioning point of the solar system from local MPP place to required global MPP place. The features of this sliding controller are continuous peak power production, easy development, less power dissipation losses, plus good dynamic system response. In the second objective, the available voltage of the PV is low which improved from low level to high level by utilizing the Wide voltage supply-inductor coupled converter. The development of this circuit needed very less inductive, plus capacitive components. Also, it is developed by selecting a single switch. As a result, the entire network power production cost is reduced. In the third objective, a two-leg inverter is proposed for the transformation of the DC voltage supply into three-phase powers.
