Objective: The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate the accuracy of 4 different electronic apex locators (EALs) (Root ZX Mini, Raypex 6, Propex Pixi, and E-Pex Pro) in primary molars with and without root resorption. Material and Methods: Forty-eight mandibular primary molar teeth with (24 teeth) and without (24 teeth) physiological root resorption, each with 4 root canals, were included in the study (96 canals in with resorption group and 96 canals in without resorption group) (n=192 root canals). The actual working length (AWL) was determined by subtracting 0.5 mm from the measured length for each canal. Background/Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the root canal morphology of mandibular first and second premolars with the aid of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the Southeast Anatolian population. Material and Methods: The study examined a total of 1258 mandibular first and second premolars using cone-beam computed tomography images of 370 randomly selected patients who applied to the Department of OralDental and Maxillofacial Radiology of Faculty of Dentistry, Dicle University due to various indications. The total number of roots and root canals, canal symmetry and correlations between the right and left side of the mandible, and the prevalence in men and women were recorded. Data was analzyed using the Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact tests. Canal configurations were evaluated based on the Vertucci classification. Results: The evaluation of CT images of a total of 370 individuals showed that 88.89% of the first premolars and 98.45% of the second premolars were symmetrical. The canal anatomy of the first premolars suggested that 85.98% of the premolars were of Type I, 12.02% were of Type V, and 2% were of Type III based on the Vertucci classification. On the other hand, the canal anatomy of the second premolars revealed that 98.83% were of Type I, 0.67% were of Type V, and 0.5% were of Type III. Conclusions: The prevalent morphology of the multiple canals was Type V, except for the Vertucci classification Type I in the mandibular first premolars. Limited number of canal variations were observed in the mandibular second premolars.

Çalışmamızda, resiprokal hareket yapan Reciproc ve WaveOne eğe sistemleriyle, Twisted File eğe sisteminin, paslanmaz çelik bloklar üzerinde kullanılması sonucu oluşan yıpranma miktarları karşılaştırılmıştır. İlk olarak 30o , 45o ve 60o eğimli olmak üzere 3 farklı çelik blok hazırlandı. Daha sonra bu hazırlanan bloklarda kullanılmak üzere eğeler gruplandırıldı. Kullanım sayıları olarak, 20 sn’lik 1, 3 ve 5 tekrardan oluşan çalışma prosedürü belirlendi. Yapılan gruplama ve prosedür talimatlarına göre 9 farklı grup (n=15) oluşturuldu ve grupların taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) altında, 2. dönüş açıları (apikal uç kısmından 2- 3 mm arası) esas alınarak, x500 büyütmede görüntüleri kaydedildi. Oluşan mikro çatlak sayıları ve kullanım sırasında oluşan kırıklar not edilerek tablo hazırlandı. Bu veriler doğrultusunda da 1. kullanım 3. kullanım ve 5. kullanım arasında Reciproc ve WaveOne eğelerinde oluşan mikro çatlak miktarında, kullanım sayısının artmasıyla mikro çatlak miktarı artması bakımından, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark varken (p0,05). Aynı eğe türlerinin farklı açılardaki kullanımlarında oluşan mikro çatlak bakımından karşılaştırmalarında anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir (p>0,05). Gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarda ise Reciproc ve WaveOne eğeleri arasında istatistiksel bir fark bulunmazken, Twisted File eğesi ile diğer iki eğe grubu arasında, Resiproc ve WaveOne lehine, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur (p0,05). Bu olgu sunumunun amacı; apikal rezeksiyon uygulanmış ancak apikal bölgede iyileşme sağlanamamış ve semptomları devam eden 20 yaşındaki kadın hastanın 41 ve 42 numaralı dişlerinin apeksifikasyonu ve tedavi sürecinin sunulmasıdır. Kliniğimize başvuran hastadan alınan anamnez ve muayene sonucu mandibular anterior bölgede daha önce kanal tedavisi ve apikal cerrahi yapıldığı ancak hastada perküsyon duyarlılığı olduğu öğrenildi. Hasta bilgilendirilip eski restorasyonun kaldırılmasını takiben kanal söküm işlemi yapıldı. İkinci seans, apikal bölgede sert doku bariyeri mineral tiroksit agregat (MTA) kullanılarak ortograt yöntemle oluşturuldu. MTA uygulanmasını takiben iki gün sonra hastanın kanal tedavisi ve ilgili dişlerin kompozit restorasyonu yapıldı. Takip eden süreçte dişlerin klinik olarak asemptomatik olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. This case report aims to present the apexification of teeth 41 and 42 of a 20-year-old female patient who underwent apical resection but showed no improvement in the apical region and continued to show symptoms and the treatment process. As a result of the anamnesis and examination taken from the patient who applied to our clinic, it was learned that root canal treatment and apical surgery had been performed in the mandibular anterior region before, and the patient had had percussion sensitivity. After the patient was informed and the old restoration was removed, the root canal was retreated. In the second session, the hard tissue barrier in the apical region was formed by the orthograde technique using mineral thyroxine aggregate (MTA). The root canal treatment and composite restoration were performed two days after the MTA application. In the following process, it was observed that the teeth were clinically asymptomatic.

Bu çalışmanın amacı klinik öncesinde öğrencilerin beceri gelişimlerinin objektif olarak değerlendirilmesi ve klinik uygulamalardaki sıklıkla karşılaşılan problemlerin ve başarısızlık nedenlerinin laboratuar ortamında belirlenmesidir.Çalışmaya 2015 yılında Diş Hekimliği Fakültesini kazanmış, 3 yıl eğitim almış ve 3. Sınıfa gelmiş 33 gözlemci öğrenci alındı. 3 yıl boyunca bu öğrencilerin çeşitli branşlarda el becerileri değerlendirildi. Amaç: Bu olgu sunumunun amacı ekstra kanal varlığı görülen dişlerde CBCT görüntüsü almanın sağladıgı yararın görülmesi ve ekstra kanalların endodontik açıdan tedavi edilmesidir. Endodonti kliniğine dental ağrı sebebiyle başvuran hastanın 35 nolu dişine kanal tedavisi endikasyonu konularak tedaviye başlandı. Konvansiyonel radyograflar kullanılarak, dişe ait 3 kanal tespit edildi. İki seansta kanal dolumu yapılan dişin ekstra bir kanalının olduğu saptandı ve bunun lokalizasyonunun belirlenmesi için CBCT kullanıldı. CBCT incelemesi sonucu 4. Kanal bulunmuş ve tedavi tamamlanmıştır. Yapılan bu vaka ışığında ekstra kanal varlıklarının değerlendirilmesinde CBCT görüntülerinin klinik olarak oldukça büyük fayda sağlandığı görüşüne varılmıştır. The purpose of this case report is to see the benefit of obtaining CBCT images in case of an extra root canal existence and to treat these canals with endodontic treatment.The patient was admitted to the Endodontic clinic with odontalgia on the no. 35 tooth and the treatment was started with the indication of the root canal treatment. Using conventional radiographs, three root canals were detected. It was found that there was an extra root canal on the tooth which was treated in two sessions and CBCT was used to determine its localization. As a result of CBCT examination, the fourth root canal was found and the treatment was completed. In the light of this case, it was concluded that CBCT images were clinically very important in the evaluation of the existence of extra root canals.

Lüksasyon tipi yaralanma şekillerinden biri olan intrüzyon dişin soket içine gömülmesi ve dişin oklüzyondan kısa görünmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu olgu sunumunun amacı, travma sonucu intrüze olmuş üst daimi kesici dişin ortodontik ve endodontik olarak tedavisini sunmaktır. 33 yaşındaki erkek hasta üst santral kesici dişlerinde travma sonrası ağrı ve estetik şikayet nedeniyle kliniğimize başvurdu. Hastanın üst santral kesici dişlerine endodontik tedavi endikasyonu konuldu ve kök kanal tedavisine başlandı. 2 hafta sonra sol üst santral kesici dişi ekstrüze etmek için ortodontik tedaviye başlandı ve 9 ay süreyle ortodontik tedaviye devam edildi. Ortodontik tedavi tamamlandıktan sonra sol üst santral kesici dişe intrakoronal beyazlatma tedavisi, sonrasında daimi restorasyon yapıldı. Bu olgunun 1 yıllık takip kontrollerinde dişlerde klinik ve radyografik değerlendirmede herhangi bir patolojiye rastlanmadı. Intrusion is a type of luxation that tooth is forced into the socket and tooth appears shortened. The purpose of this case report is to present the orthodontic and endodontic treatment of the intruded maxillary permanent incisor because of trauma. A 33- year-old male patient applied to Dicle University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics due to pain and aesthetic complaints of the his upper central incisors. Endodontic treatment indication were given to the upper central incisors of the patient and root canal treatment was started. Two weeks later, orthodontic treatment was started to extrude the left upper central incisor and continued to orthodontic treatment for 9 months. After orthodontic treatment, intracoronal bleaching and permanent restoration was made on the left upper central incisor. At 1-year follow-up controls, any symptoms were not found in the clinical and radiographic evaluation.

ÖZET Devital dişlerin beyazlatılması, hasta psikolojisini estetik yönden etkileyen önemli bir gereksinimdir. Dişhekimliğinde uygulanan konservatif beyazlatma teknikleriyle; estetik sorunlara neden olan diş renkleşmelerini gidermenin yanı sıra, diş ve dişeti sağlığı da korunmaya çalışılmaktadır. Günümüzde, dişhekimliğinde restorasyon amacıyla birçok materyal kullanılmaktadır. Dişlerin restorasyonunda kullanılacak materyallerin taşıması gereken fonksiyonel, estetik, ekonomik ve direnç gibi özelliklerin yanısıra minimal mikrosızıntı göstermeleri de önemlidir. İn vitro olarak yapılan bu çalışma; periodontal veya ortodontik nedenlerle çekilmiş ve yapay olarak boyanmış, çürüksüz ve restorasyonsuz 60 adet ön grup dişte devital beyazlatma işlemi yapıldıktan sonra kullanılan 4 farklı restorasyon materyalinin mikrosızıntı açısından karşılaştırılarak değerlendirilmesi amacıyla planlanmıştır. Tüm dişlerin lingual yüzeylerine endodontik giriş kaviteleri açılmış ve ardından, kökler mine-sement sınırının 3 mm aşağısından bir fissür frezle kesilerek uzaklaştırılmıştır. Her bir kanal gates glidden kök kanal frezleri kullanılarak genişletilmiştir. Her bir diş; yapay olarak boyanmak üzere %50'si taze insan kam ile dolu test tüplerine yerleştirilerek santrifüje edilerek her grupta aynı beyazlatma materyali kullanılmak üzere, rastgele 15' erli dört gruba ayrılarak walking bleach tekniği ile beyazlatılmıştır. Birinci gruptaki dişlerin giriş kavitelerine Valux Plus, ikinci gruptakilere Tetric Ceram, üçüncü gruptakilere Herculite XRV ve dördüncü gruptakilere ise Adrnira kompozit rezin restoratif materyalleri üretici firmaların önerileri doğrultusunda uygulanmıştır. Mikrosızıntının ölçümü için kesitler alınarak, lam yüzeylerine yapıştırılmış ve elde edilen kesitler, mikroskop altında ideal bir görüntü sağlamak amacıyla inceltilmiştir. Kesitlerdeki boya penetrasyon miktarları; x25 büyütmede stereo mikroskop kullanılarak lineer olarak ölçülmüştür. Ölçümler sonucu elde edilen veriler, istatistiksel olarak Kruskal-Wallis non- parametrik testi kullamlarak değerlendirilmiştir. Kullanılan dört farklı tip kompozit materyali arasında; Adrnira en az mikrosızıntı gösteren materyal olurken, onu sırasıyla Herculite XRV, Tetric Ceram ve Valux Plus izlemiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Mikrosızıntı, devital beyazlatma, kompozit SUMMARY Bleaching of non-vital teeth is a problem that requires esthetic and conservative treatment. Using conservative bleaching techniques in dentistry; tooth stains that cause esthetic problems are removed, also tooth and gum health are protected. Nowadays, several materials are used for restoration in dentistry. The materials used in the restoration of permanent teeth must be functional, esthetic, economic, resistant and let minimal micro- leakage. The aim of the in vitro study was to compare the microleakage of 4 different restoration materials used for the restoration of 60 artificially dyed anterior teeth containing no caries or restorations and were extracted for periodontal or orthodontic reasons. Endodontic cavity entrances were prepared onto the lingual surfaces of all teeth. Then, roots were removed 3 mm below the cementoenamel junction using a diamond bur. Each canal was enlarged by using gates glidden root canal burs. Each tooth was put into the test tubes 50 % filled with fresh human blood and centrifugated in order to be dyed artificially. The teeth were randomly divided into four grups, each containing 15 teeth and bleached by the same material using walking bleach technique. The composite resin restorative materials were applied onto the entrance cavities of teeth according to the instructions of manufacturers. Valux Plus was used for the first group, Tetric Ceram for the second group, Herculite XRV for the third group and Admira for the fourth group. Cross-sections were made for the measurement of microleakage, and taped on the micro-slide surface. Linear measurements were made from the dye penetration in cross- sectioned specimens using binocular stereo microscope at x25 magnification. The data obtained were evaluated statistically by using Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. Amongst the four different composite materials, Admira was found to be the composite with the least micro-leakage, followed by Herculite XRV, Tetric Ceram and Valux Plus.
