Let $G$ be a group coacting on an Artin-Schelter regular algebra $A$ homogeneously and inner-faithfully. When the identity component $A_e$ is also Artin-Schelter regular, providing a generalization of the Shephard-Todd-Chevalley Theorem, we say that $G$ is a dual reflection group for $A$. We give two examples of dual reflection groups of order 16, and study algebraic and geometric properties of three associated Artin-Schelter regular algebras of dimension four., Comment: Comments welcome

For a finite group $G$ and $\Bbbk$ an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero we consider Artin-Schelter regular algebras $A$ on which the Drinfeld double $D(G)$ acts inner faithfully, and its associated algebras of invariants $A^{D(G)}$. Explicit computations for the cases when $G$ is the (generalized) quaternion group of order 8 and 16 are given.

Let $A$ be a noetherian connected graded algebra. We introduce and study homological invariants that are weighted sums of the homological and internal degrees of cochain complexes of graded $A$-modules, providing weighted versions of Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity, Tor-regularity, Artin--Schelter regularity, and concavity. In some cases an invariant (such as Tor-regularity) that is infinite can be replaced with a weighted invariant that is finite, and several homological invariants of complexes can be expressed as weighted homological regularities. This paper concerns homological notions of regularity for noncommutative algebras. Properties of an algebra $A$ are reflected in the regularities of certain (complexes of) $A$-modules. We study the classical Tor-regularity and Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, which were generalized from the commutative setting to the noncommutative setting by J{\o}rgensen and Dong-Wu. We also introduce two new numerical homological invariants: concavity and Artin-Schelter regularity. Artin-Schelter regular algebras occupy a central position in noncommutative algebra and noncommutative algebraic geometry, and we use these invariants to establish criteria which can be used to determine whether a noetherian connected graded algebra is Artin-Schelter regular., Comment: Minor edits and corrections made throughout

Over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb k$ of characteristic zero, the Drinfeld double $D_n$ of the Taft algebra that is defined using a primitive $n$th root of unity $q \in \mathbb k$ for $n \geq 2$ is a quasitriangular Hopf algebra. Kauffman and Radford have shown that $D_n$ has a ribbon element if and only if $n$ is odd, and the ribbon element is unique; however there has been no explicit description of this element. In this work, we determine the ribbon element of $D_n$ explicitly. For any $n \geq 2$, we use the R-matrix of $D_n$ to construct an action of the Temperley-Lieb algebra $\mathsf{TL}_k(\xi)$ with $\xi = -(q^{\frac{1}{2}}+q^{-\frac{1}{2}})$ on the $k$-fold tensor power $V^{\otimes k}$ of any two-dimensional simple $D_n$-module $V$. This action is known to be faithful for arbitrary $k \geq 1$. We show that $\mathsf{TL}_k(\xi)$ is isomorphic to the centralizer algebra $\text{End}_{D_n}(V^{\otimes k})$ for $1 \le k \le 2n-2$., Comment: 27 pages, to appear in Journal of Algebra. We study semisimple Hopf algebra actions on Artin-Schelter regular algebras and prove several upper bounds on the degrees of the minimal generators of the invariant subring, and on the degrees of syzygies of modules over the invariant subring. These results are analogues of results for group actions on commutative polynomial rings proved by Noether, Fogarty, Fleischmann, Derksen, Sidman, Chardin, and Symonds., Comment: To appear in Advances in Mathematics

For a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $A$, the McKay matrix $M_V$ of an $A$-module $V$ encodes the relations for tensoring the simple $A$-modules with $V$. We prove results about the eigenvalues and the right and left (generalized) eigenvectors of $M_V$ by relating them to characters. We show how the projective McKay matrix $Q_V$ obtained by tensoring the projective indecomposable modules of $A$ with $V$ is related to the McKay matrix of the dual module of $V$. We illustrate these results for the Drinfeld double $D_n$ of the Taft algebra by deriving expressions for the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of $M_V$ and $Q_V$ in terms of several kinds of Chebyshev polynomials. For the matrix $N_V$ that encodes the fusion rules for tensoring $V$ with a basis of projective indecomposable $D_n$-modules for the image of the Cartan map, we show that the eigenvalues and eigenvectors also have such Chebyshev expressions., Comment: 41 pages, minor changes according to the referees' suggestions, the appendix is removed from version 2

For each nontrivial semisimple Hopf algebra $H$ of dimension sixteen over $\mathbb{C}$, the smallest dimension inner-faithful representation of $H$ acting on a quadratic AS regular algebra $A$ of dimension 2 or 3, homogeneously and preserving the grading, is determined. Each invariant subring $A^H$ is determined. When $A^H$ is also AS regular, thus providing a generalization of the Chevalley-Shephard-Todd Theorem, we say that $H$ is a reflection Hopf algebra for $A$., Comment: Revised version. We present two noncommutative algebras over a field of characteristic zero that each posses a family of actions by cyclic groups of order $2n$, represented in $n \times n$ matrices, requiring generators of degree $3n$.

Let $H$ be a semisimple Hopf algebra acting on an Artin-Schelter regular algebra $A$, homogeneously, inner-faithfully, preserving the grading on $A$, and so that $A$ is an $H$-module algebra. When the fixed subring $A^H$ is also AS regular, thus providing a generalization of the Chevalley-Shephard-Todd Theorem, we say that $H$ is a reflection Hopf algebra for $A$. We establish a version of Kn\"{o}rrer's Periodicity Theorem in the context of noncommutative invariant theory. Namely, let $A$ be a left noetherian AS-regular algebra, let $f$ be a normal and regular element of $A$ of positive degree, and take $B=A/(f)$. Then there exists a bijection between the set of isomorphism classes of indecomposable non-free maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over $B$ and those over (a noncommutative analog of) its second double branched cover $(B^\#)^\#$. Our results use and extend the study of twisted matrix factorizations, which was introduced by the first three authors with Cassidy. When $A = \mathbb{k}[x_1, \ldots, x_n]$ and $G$ is a small subgroup of $\operatorname{GL}_n(\mathbb{k})$, Auslander's Theorem says that the skew group algebra $A \# G$ is isomorphic to $\operatorname{End}_{A^G}(A)$ as graded algebras. We prove a generalization of Auslander's Theorem for permutation actions on $(-1)$-skew polynomial rings, $(-1)$-quantum Weyl algebras, three-dimensional Sklyanin algebras, and a certain graded down-up algebra. We also show that certain fixed rings $A^G$ are graded isolated singularities in the sense of Ueyama.

We continue our study of the McKay Correspondence for grading preserving actions of semisimple Hopf algebras H on (noncommutative) Artin-Schelter regular algebras A. Here, we establish correspondences between module categories over A^H, over A\#H, and over \End_{A^H} A. We provide formulas for computing the discriminant of noncommutative algebras over central subalgebras in the case of Ore extensions and skew group extensions. The formulas follow from a more general result regarding the discriminants of certain twisted tensor products. We employ our formulas to compute automorphism groups for examples in each case.

This is a survey of results that extend notions of the classical invariant theory of linear actions by finite groups on $k[x_1, \dots, x_n]$ to the setting of finite group or Hopf algebra $H$ actions on an Artin-Schelter regular algebra $A$. We investigate when $A^H$ is AS regular, or AS Gorenstein, or a "complete intersection" in a sense that is defined. Directions of related research are explored briefly.

The notion of a matrix factorization was introduced by Eisenbud in the commutative case in his study of bounded (periodic) free resolutions over complete intersections. In this work, we extend the notion of (homogeneous) matrix factorizations to regular normal elements of connected graded algebras over a field. Next, we relate the category of twisted matrix factorizations to an element over a ring and certain Zhang twists. We also show that in the AS-regular setting, every sufficiently high syzygy module is the cokernel of some twisted matrix factorization. Furthermore, we show that in this setting there is an equivalence of categories between the homotopy category of twisted matrix factorizations and the singularity category of the hypersurface, following work of Orlov.

The symmetric group S_n acts on the skew polynomial ring A=k_{-1}[x_1,..., x_n] as permutations. For subgroups G of S_n we consider properties of the ring of invariants A^G. We show that A^G is always Artin-Schelter Gorenstein, and we investigate when A^G is a "complete intersection", in a sense we define. We obtain bounds on the degrees of the algebra generators. The properties of A^G are compared with those in the classical case, k[x_1, ..., x_n]^G., Comment: 37 pages

We classify quantum analogues of actions of finite subgroups G of SL_2(k) on commutative polynomial rings k[u,v]. More precisely, we produce a classification of pairs (H,R), where H is a finite dimensional Hopf algebra that acts inner faithfully and preserves the grading of an Artin-Schelter regular algebra R of global dimension two. Remarkably, the corresponding invariant rings R^H share similar regularity and Gorenstein properties as the invariant rings k[u,v]^G in the classic setting. Let A be a connected graded noncommutative monomial algebra. We associate to A a finite graph \Gamma(A) called the CPS graph of A. Finiteness properties of the Yoneda algebra Ext_A(k,k) including Noetherianity, finite GK dimension, and finite generation are characterized in terms of \Gamma(A). We show these properties, notably finite generation, can be checked by means of a terminating algorithm.
